@wip @support we REALLY need a report button for approved ad campaigns, this is disgusting and extremely offensive to autistic people. I absolutely can't stand that the only button allowed for official ads is a link to going ad free instead of actual report buttons for obscene and malicious advertising
Baby food does not and cannot cause autism, autism is a developmental disorder that you're born with that affects development of areas of the brain which leads to a spectrum of symptoms and effects. You're born with it, and you cannot "cure" it. Organizations using puzzle pieces as their logo and tout a supposed hunt for the cure are run by "autism moms" and people who believe that "autism took their child from them" and often put their children through horrific ableist abuse as a result of something they can't control, and make no effort at accommodation. There are plenty of organizations run by and for actual autistic people that campaign for accommodation and accessibility, as well as disability rights as a whole, and they don't actively dehumanize autistic people in the process. Maybe tumblr should put their ad campaigns through a more thorough screening process before approving them in future, or just allow us to report ads that are malicious and promoting dangerous organizations
There's no such thing as a cure for autism, just like there's no such thing as an autistic childhood without ableist trauma

JTA — A comic book festival in Vancouver said it has banned an Israeli-American artist because of her past service in the Israel Defense Forces, after apologizing for allowing her to participate this year.
The Vancouver Comic Arts Festival then deleted its statement apologizing for allowing Miriam Libicki to exhibit at the event, which took place earlier this month, after the Canadian Jewish News published an article calling attention to the affair.
According to the news outlet and social media screenshots, the statement did not name Libicki but referenced her and her work and said she would not be allowed in the festival in the future.A Stop to the Trucks - The Times of IsraelKeep Watching
“The concerns regarded this exhibitor’s prior role in the Israeli military and their subsequent collection of works which recount their personal position in said military and the illegal occupation of Palestine,” said the “Accountability Statement,” posted to Instagram.
The statement went on to say her appearance was the result of “oversight and ignorance” and that it “fundamentally falls in absolute disregard to all of our exhibiting artist’s [sic], attendees and staff, especially those who are directly affected by the ongoing genocide in Palestine and Indigenous community members alike.”
In her own statement, Libicki, who explores Jewish identity in her work, called the ban “illegal” and said it was “bad for all artists of all political orientations and backgrounds.” She added, “I have consistently, publicly been pro-peace” and supportive of the establishment of a Palestinian state.
“Because of the vulnerable populations I work with, I prefer not to discuss my specific political views in public,” she wrote in a statement shared on Wednesday by Jesse Brown, a Canadian Jewish publisher and journalist. “I believe all policing of artists’ personal identities and nationalities is wrong.”
But after the CJN article was published on Wednesday, the festival deleted its “Accountability Statement.” It did not immediately respond to a Jewish Telegraphic Agency request for comment.

Tinubu to swear in Kekere-Ekun as CJN Friday
Tumblr media
President Bola Tinubu is set to swear in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria tomorrow. The swearing-in ceremony is billed to take place on August 23, 2024, at the State House Council Chambers. Kekere-Ekun will succeed Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who retired Thursday. The President “will swear in Justice Ariwoola’s successor at the State House Council Chambers on August 23, 2024,” said his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. Tinubu also congratulated Ariwoola, whose stint in the judiciary he described as a “successful public service career,” commending him for his services to the nation. He congratulated Ariwoola on his successful public service career in a statement signed by Ngelale. Former president, Muhammadu Buhari swore in Ariwoola as CJN in October 2022, months after he replaced former CJN Tanko Muhammad in an acting capacity. He had also served the nation in diverse capacities as Justice of the Court of Appeal in the Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos divisions before his elevation to the Supreme Court in 2011. “President Tinubu commends the eminent jurist for his services to the nation, noting his impactful leadership of the judiciary and his efforts in enriching Nigerian jurisprudence, as well as in strengthening the fibre of the law.“ The President thanks Justice Ariwoola and wishes him the very best for the future,” the statement further read. Meanwhile, a special assistant to Tinubu, Dada Olusegun, also shared this on his X account. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in Justice Ariwoola’s successor and the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, tomorrow at the State House Council Chambers,” he wrote.
