yeah! so for stardew mods to work you need to first install the smapi api.

you can either do that through their main website or nexus

neither option has any cons theyre just based on preference on how you wanna install it but theyre both completely safe websites.

after you properly install smapi you’ll have to go to nexus which is the main website for all stardew valley mods. you’ll need to make an account to install stuff i believe. you can find a wide range of mods here that serve a lot of different purposes.

if you haven’t used nexus to mod before then as i mentioned before first make an account then once you are looking at a mod make sure to check the requirements first. sometimes mods need other mods to work and you need to install those first. after you checked the requirements you head to the files section and click manual download. after that select slow download then wait for it to install into your files. then you move those files into the stardew mod folder. if thats not clear enough you can find a bunch of tutorial videos on youtube with visuals:)

since you asked for my recs i’ll give you the list of which i actually use all the time.

NPC Map Locations

- very basic mod. majority of mod users will have this installed and it just shows you on the map where each npc is at at all times.

CJB Cheats Menu & CJB Item Spawner

- these two sorta go hand in hand for me but of course you don’t need to have both installed. this is definitely a play style preference thing but i personally like having these cheats installed for any type of situation that might happen in game that i can’t undo otherwise without them.

- the cheats menu adds a lot more flexibility and well cheats to the game so for instance: infinite health, infinite stamina, give yourself money, instantly increase hearts with whichever npc, always catch every fish, warp locations, change weather, change time, freeze time, and a lot more. this uses the P key to open in game but you can configure that to another bind if you’d like.

- the item spawner is a lot more simple. does what it says and spawns whichever item you want. so basically you can press the i key and it’ll open up a menu with every item in the game and you can spawn in the specific amount you want of something and so forth. simple concept. i mainly use this for when i accidentally sell or gift an item i wasnt intending to and then simply spawn it back in. i also use it for decorating my house:3

Look Up Anything

- this is literally like having the wiki at your disposal at all times in game. extremely helpful for so many reasons especially as i personally always had the wiki open to check for information on items and npcs so having this mod made it a lot quicker of a process. how it works is you simply hover your mouse over whatever you want information on and click f1 and it’ll display all the information about that thing to you! so if you hover over lets say harvey and press f1 it’ll show you a menu with his birthday, his love & like gifts, your hearts with them and how many points till the next heart, etc.

Seasonal Outfits

- this mod puts all the npcs in different outfits for the seasons. its just cute

Elle’s Seasonal Buildings & DaisyNiko’s Earthy Recolor

- the seasonal building allows a lot more variety in structures like farm building and adding holiday decor to npc buildings. simple stuff that can make the game more customized

- with seasonal buildings you can also install compatible recolors which is what the DaisyNiko’s link is. it’s the recolor i personally use for my main farm when i play. this is because the vanilla game is very saturated and does hurt my eyes so having more chilled out tones helps. you dont need to install the recolor i use or any in fact if you like the natural look of the game but just know the option is there and there’s a multitude of recolors you can use to make the game look different:3

Friends Forever

- no friendship decay because itsa pain in the ass and i have no time to talk to the npcs all day. this is very play style based some people enjoy having to go and ensure they speak to npcs daily im just not the type.

Part of The Community

- creates different ways for you to gain hearts easier and passively

Mailbox Menu & Zilch’s Envelopes

- i really like the letters and the fact you can only read them once bummed me out until i found this mod which adds a whole menu for your mail where you can go back and see all the letters you’ve received. feel like it adds that additional touch and care to the whole mail system in the game.

- then to go along with that menu theres the envelopes mod that customizes it even further and makes all the envelopes of the letters have cute appearances and designs. look at this and tell me that isn’t the best thing you’ve ever seen.

in conclusion…

I really suggest just taking the time and scrolling through the nexus mods website on your own. they have a specific category for stardew and you can filter it by most popular and see what you find yourself. since everyone plays differently you might find you enjoy the more technical code side and want to change something to do with that or you might just simply wanna change the npc portraits and make them look nicer. theres so many options on how to mod this game and i honestly could go on forever with mod suggestions but at the end of the day its up to you! so hope this helps and i hope you have a fun time modding.

Caelwynn's Mod List for Stardew 1.6 - Gameplay/Quality of Life (pg 1)

Grandpa's Farm — optional farm map available with Stardew Valley Expanded. Pretty much the only map I play with.

More New Fish — adds 140 new fish all across the map.

Cornucopia More Crops — adds over 90 new crops and 35 new trees. I moved to this when PPJA did not get updated for 1.6.

Cornucopia More Flowers — adds over 40 new flowers and 5 new flowering trees to the game. Again, moved to this after PPJA was discontinued.

Advanced Save Backup — an absolute godsend. It makes a back-up save at the beginning of each play session and at the beginning of each new day. Note: if you're tight on hard drive space, you'll want to periodically go in and trim down your saves.

Auto Animal Doors — automatically releases your animals from the buildings at a set time each day, and then locks the buildings back up at another set time.

Automatic Gates — for those of us too lazy to open/shut gates.

Better Friendship — adds a bubble above the heads of NPCs informing you if you've spoken with them today and what in your current inventory they might like to receive as a gift.

Better Ranching — adds a bubble above the heads of farm animals informing you if they need petted and/or milked/sheered/whatever.

Chests Anywhere — access your chests from anywhere on the map, or from select locations as set up in the config.

CJB Cheats Menu — a GUI to access various console commands. I mostly use it to freeze time while decorating or to warp to certain locations prior to unlocking the minecarts, because with as many expansions as I have, it takes for-freaking-ever to walk everywhere.

CJB Show Item Sell Price — shows a tooltip telling you how much an item (or stack of items) would sell for.

More Warp Points (CJB Cheats Menu) — adds in warp points for various expansions.

Event Lookup — canNOT live without this one. Allows you to lookup what heart events are available that day, and what time/location you need to be to trigger them. If you go into your social menu and click on a character, you can also see which of their events you have/haven't seen, and if you want to see the requirements for a heart event, you can click on said event for it to list the requirements.

Generic Mod Config Menu — sets up a GUI in-game to allow you to set up config files for your mods.

Happy Birthday — gives your farmer an actual birthday in-game. NPCs will wish you a happy birthday and give you gifts. Some people will even throw you a party!

Harvest Seeds — gives you a configurable % chance of getting seeds whenever you harvest your crops.

Integrated Minecarts — adds additional minecarts around the vanilla map and to different expansions where applicable.

Lookup Anything — for those of us tired of constantly using the wiki (or who have so many mods the wiki is no longer accurate), this pulls information from in-game.

no one asked but heres my stardew modlist

what i used because i wanted to get a backpack faster: cjb cheats and item spawn (very rarely use it i just wanted money for a backpack and items i didnt have time to grow cause spring year 1 is about to wrap up lol)

everything else i use to make the game alive because as much as i love the game there are Things much left to be desired even after the patch:

-make gunther real (saw nino play the mod and i was like Yeah Boy Lets make him more Real)

-diverse stardew valley (mixed trans girl penny, fat chinese-fillipino nonbinary abigail, black hard of hearing haley, black nonbinary emily, vietnamese non binary sebastian, , black haried maru, haida nation leah, jamaican and jewish elliot, trans persian-arab sam, ecuadorian shane, mexican alex, punjab harvey and linus with his service dog marigold who is a good girl and i would die for her)

-natural hairstyles (i needed this so bad i needed more black hairstyles!!!)

mods i might get:

-stardew valley expanded (wont be capatiable with diveser stardew valley which is a shame. i wonder why the author doesnt want to work with it?)

-ridgeside valley (heard good things about it)

-marry robin (i like to choose violence and destroy marriages)

I got perfection. again.

earlier this year, i got perfection in stardew valley for the first time. i purposefully did it before 1.6 came out, because i knew there would more added that you have to do to reach perfection, and i wanted to be able to say i'd gotten perfection at some point.

and then 1.6 came out. and THIS:

little fucker was added to steam. the Perfection achievement, which was not there before. i had to get it. and i had to get it in a new save(because something is wrong with me)

surprisingly, it took me less time to get perfection this time. 183 hours the first time, 171 hours this time. also finished a full season earlier.

i know i could have done both A LOT faster if i just slept through days to get money quicker, but that's not very enjoyable to me. plus, in both saves, i used a mod to pause time so i could decorate my house and farm lmao.

the time difference between them could be because i knew what i was doing more than the first time, but i also didn't bother decorating the island house this second time, and i put less effort into my main farm. still a lot, but not quite as much.

I changed my Meadowlands Farm plan, and hopefully this time, it's final 😅 You can see how the old plan looked like here.

Here's the thing about planning: You can make the prettiest farm, and everything might look right, but it's only after you play in it that you actually see if things are working right. I can't have something that just looks good in my eyes, it needs to be functional, otherwise I just stop playing. Then again, I haven't done this in my actual save, so there could still be some things that still need to be changed for the sake of my sanity, but let's hope this is it.

I encountered 5 main problems with my original design:

Furnaces (too far away from crafting area);

im sure millions of people have done this before... but theres a twist! im not only going to do base game bachelor/ettes, im also gonna find every mod i can that adds a romanceable character or makes an existing character romanceable. im also going to do it all on one save with the multiple spouses mod. now, i have a shitty laptop, so to download one big mod i might have to remove a different one, which is why im not starting with every mod already downloaded. it would probably take ages to do this legitimately so i also have CJB cheats. im not going to adjust hearts but i am just gonna give myself their gifts. im gonna spend the first spring making my farm nice which means i wont dance with anyone at the flower dance. to (sort of) avoid bias, im gonna rank them on 4 things out of 5 stars and add them together for a total score out of 20 which will then be turned into a letter grade. Looks Personality Character Development Heart Events anything lower than 10 is an F 11-13 is D 14-16 is C 17-19 is B and a perfect 20 is A

i found a mod that gives krobus more heart events so if it works he will also be included but if it doesnt then ill grade him differently also gonna rant the spouse rooms but thatll be totally biased :3
