Bonjour à tous~ Aujourd'hui je vous propose quelques douceurs chocolatées avec ce délicieux paquet de Chocobats ! 🦇

Le mois de février rime vraiment avec chocolat pour moi (d'où l'illustration du calendrier où Irvin en prépare !) 🍫

Malheureusement je n'ai jamais trouvé de chocolats en forme de chauves-souris (sans doute parce qu'ils seraient un peu fragiles ?) donc j'ai décidé de leur donner vie en dessin ! ⭐ Ils sont décorés selon leurs goûts : chocolat blanc, orange, framboise et menthe~ Lequel est votre préféré ? ❤️

AC walked down the science hallway, scanning the teen crowd for his love. Not his girlfriend. AW somehow managed to wrap herself around him, and he hasn’t the foggiest idea when it happened. He saw Cupid drinking his Starbucks at his locker, and AC instantly turned his gaze toward the theater kids. He knew Cupid had always liked Juan, the hot thespian. Sure enough, past the JROTC soldiers and dental hygienists, Juan was surrounded by the cheerleaders.

But his focus was on a bookworm who walked across the courtyard. The long lemon dress spoke for her, and AC was determined to catch her before Juan could detach himself or Cosmo miraculously popped up.

“Chocolate?” He handed her a candy bar in lieu of a greeting.

She wasn’t startled but stopped walking long enough to accept the treat. She unpeeled it and nodded to AC, starting to walk again.

“You have my attention.”

Cutie Reviews: TokyoTreat Feb 20

Hello! Before I begin the review I wanted to explain that this box had a LOT of repeat. Like I've been doing lately I won't be reviewing the repeated items unless I have reason to. I do this not out of laziness, but because I don't think a review would be very interesting to constantly write/see "I had this before. It's good like last time/I hate it still." for each thing. So if I don’t write anything for certain items, you’ll understand why.

(It’s probably just me but every time I look at this picture I keep thinking that these girls are third-wheels to the other... am I the only one?)

This month’s flavors are Strawberry and Azuki.

Before we get to the review I had a couple of things to cover first.

In this box we received an ad for a new show known as Gochi Gang, along with a notice explaining that the strawberry pocky we were going to get this month was replaced with the strawberry koala’s march. This was done because during this period, there were several poor koala harmed from wildfires and left homeless.

Lucky Treat & Photo Contest

For this month, the lucky treat consists of cardcaptor themed goods. The photo contest featured Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma, and Kiroitori.

Blendy Stick Hojicha Cafe au lait

As I’ve said before, I really don’t like tea all that much. In January’s box we got tea, which wasn’t terrible, and other tea I’ve tried hasn’t been the worst either. So I try to remain hopeful when I try out new things like this.

This hojicha blend is roasted, giving it a smooth caramel-ish scent when mixed with a creamy milk. As usual, I wait until I do the review to try a product, so I heated some up with milk since I usually don’t mind milk tea very much.

Okay, so I don’t know if it’s because I suddenly got a headache or what, but this was pleasantly delicious! I didn’t need to add sugar or anything. It’s not really sweet, but it has a faint caramel creaminess to it.

It’s very soothing, and oddly enough I feel like it actually calmed my headache a little. If I end up finishing this box I might order some more, I wouldn’t mind drinking it more often.

Strawberry Heart Marshmallows & Strawberry Soft-serve

Here’s an example of 2 items I had before. But I did want to mention that these are the types of items that do not hold up very well over time. But in different ways- for example, the marshmallows were still pretty fresh when I opened them, in comparison to the ultra-chewy soft serve marshmallow.

The marshmallows are still yummy now even though I did these pictures at the beginning of the month, they’re just a little hard but not crunchy or stale tasting. The soft serve left a nasty taste in my mouth though.

Honey and Apple Pure Gummies

Oh, where to begin with these... Okay, well first, they look very cute. The packaging is also really cute. Gummies are delicious, and I do like sour candy, but I’m not a huge fan of honey when there’s too much...

Okay, so originally I thought I’d love these. Then I hated it so much when I actually tried them, but now that I slowly ate one piece-by-piece and kept them in my mouth I found it tolerable. I only feel like I could eat one at a time, but I didn’t cringe or anything :D

Strawberry and Milk Cream Cake & Uncle Pierre’s Roll Cake

The cream cake was delicious but lightly flavored, which would probably be ideal if you don’t like overwhelming sweetness. The coating of the cake is sorta transparent, in comparison to the white clearly shown on the packaging. Would recommend.

The roll cake is fine, pretty basic. The cream is very yummy, but it’s not like pink like the package shows. The cake outside is pretty basic.

Caramel Corn, Strawberry Daifuku KitKats, and Strawberry and Chocolate Hearts

CC - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  surprisingly, this one actually has peanuts in it! It’s a first for me :D I don’t like peanuts, but they gave it a different flavor than usual.

Veggie Hearts, Dragon Chips, and Aji Cheese Chips

ACC - ♥  the texture is pretty nice, but even if I eat these super-fresh upon arrival they always taste stale. I’ve had them a couple of times and it’s never any different.

VH - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥  I love vegetable chips but they’re so light in flavor. THESE however, are very strong in flavor. I love them!

Meanwhile, our new item, the “Dragon Chips“ are a combination of tarako and buttery flavors. It’s a unique taste that I thought was pretty good, and they’re fun to look at. I’d recommend them too.

♥ Cutie Ranking ♥

Content - 2 out of 5. Besides one item everything was fine, I didn’t really hate anything. BUT, I didn’t feel like the box deserved a high content ranking from me personally because it was almost entirely composed of repeats. Theme - 2-3 out of 5. Obviously with the strawberry, chocolate, and hearts we can say they had a cute Valentine’s theme going on. But considering how “sweet oriented” last months box was, I felt like this one could have probably been a bit better? You know, more sweets, more cute fluffiness.

Total Rank: 5 out of 10. It was a perfectly fine box with a nice, well-rounded mix of items. I’d recommend it, especially the tea if you can find it. I still can’t get over how much I liked it, and my headache is gone too :3 But as I said, on a personal level I’m.... pretty disappointed with the box overall. They have made better ones in the past. I love getting to try out new foreign items, so I really hate getting so many repeats in the same box.

Lately, I’ve been considering dropping TokyoTreat and picking up a new brand that I found. I really don’t want to, but it feels like it’s becoming harder to look elsewhere lately...

Review: Tokyo Treat April 2017

Hello every Cutie ♥ I hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long. Luckily, I do have 1 box after this, plus DokiDoki Crate and KiraKira, if they ever get here. It’s so weird getting them last now, since they used to come much earlier. 

Okay, so you’re probably wondering why I crammed so many things into this one pic when it was just the cover shot, right?

Basically, due to the increase in items I assumed I would have to do twice-as-much cramming in to fit everything. But somehow I managed to pretty much get everything in half of the pic limit, and I didn’t realize that until I saved the images from my email. I’ll be trying to plan this a bit better next time.

With that, I put the non-edibles with the cover. We have a Sakura Design Coca-Cola, and as you cuties know I ♥ coke, and this design is perfect for Spring ✿ It pretty much tastes like coke, but being in this metal tin-like container, there is a tiny bit of difference. On the up side, the metal container keeps it nice and cool, and it actually opens easier than it looks. 5 out of 5, of course!

The Coris Candy Apple Soft Candy DIY candy I’ll be covering in a separate post like usual. So the other item left is the Re-Ment Sakura Sweets Blind Box. Funnily enough I saw this re-ment set recently and fell in love with it, I love sakura sweets. Out of all the available sets I’d have been happy with any of them, but getting one just makes me want to get the rest of the set now- which is what prevents me from buying re-ment myself. It also comes with (apple-pear-mint tasting) gum! For this particular set, I’ll give it 5 out of 5.

Now onto the yummies ♥ First up we have the PURERAL Peach Gummy. These are super soft, sweet gummies made from the juice of Hakuto white peach from the Yamanashi prefecture. The two textures combine to create a fresh quality, and it pretty much tastes like an actual peach. 5 out of 5.

We also have two chocolate items here, the Caramel Chocoball, featuring the adorable Kyoro-chan on the package. These little spheres of chocolate feature a soft caramel center ♥ I really like caramel and chocolate (only when its soft though), so I liked having these little pick-me-ups at hand. To compliment them are the Baskin Robbins Chocolate Love Potion #31, based on one of my favorite BR ice creams with the cutest shape ever ♥ The outside is chocolate with raspberry cream and sauce inside. The flavor is a bit raspberry bitter, but the bite together creates a sweet combination~ Both items get a 5 out of 5.

Well... here’s the Green Tea Pocky I was expecting from the previous crate. I admit, I wasn’t too happy to see it there (and I’ve yet to finish the box even as I write this). Don’t think I’m not grateful, but I just had some green tea pocky from a pack I bought a while back, and I don’t even like green tea. There isn’t anything really to say about it. If you like green tea then it’s a 5 out of 5, but for my personal standards, 2.5 out of 5. It’s just not my thing.

Thankfully, these other two chocolate items more than made up for it ♥ I’ve had one of these chocolate wafers before (a one piece one) and once again we get a series I adore~  I grew up with Pokemon, and I even got a Meowth sticker/puzzle piece sticker. I love Meowth, although my ultimate favorite will always be Vulpix ♥ These wafers appear to be bland, but they pack a lot of flavor! Just like the Ghana Milk Chocolate bar, which is essentially the Hershey bar of Japan. It’s fairly common, having been a flagship chocolate since 1964 by Lotte. It’s so creamy and smooth, and it has a realistic taste to it. I wanted to eat the entire bar at once, but I held off (for maybe a few hours...). I definitely suggest you pick this one up if you ever see it. Both get a 5 out of 5.

Next I decided to pair my savory snacks, this time there was a lot of yummy ones~

In order we have the Mini-Kari Corn Puffs - Light Dashi Flavor. A unique flavor (especially if you never had Dashi before), that kind of reminded me of the smell of a grill being lit with lighter fluid. As weird as that sounds. But they were actually really good. I like corn puff snacks because they’re softer and tend to take in flavor fairly well. 4.5 out of 5. I just wish the bag was bigger!

Next is the Chip Star Small Lobster Bisque. These are pretty much the Japanese equivalent of Pringles. Surprisingly I didn’t like these because they tasted like sea food; but because they tasted like cheese & sour cream (|||❛︵❛.) 2 out of 5. I’m not sure if they represent the flavor their based on but I couldn’t stand them.

Following the less-than satisfying chips was the Honey Soy Sauce Rice Cracker. A bit crunchy, but I like rice crackers and this one had a sweet-and-salty mix going on. 5 out of 5.

Lastly is the Scone Rich Cheese Flavor. These are pretty much non-artificial tasting Cheetos. They were crunchy as well, but I managed to eat them fine. 4 out of 5.

Next I’ll be covering the items from the Dagashi Bag. Each one comes with 4-5 items chosen at random for the crate. This is the newest feature for Tokyo Treat and I was so excited!

I put the two sweet items together first, the Chocobat, which is a softened bread-like stick dipped in chocolate, and the Pudding Mochi. Both were lightly sweet, but fairly good. I’m not huge on pudding, but I didn’t find the flavor bad at all. The outside was so squishy, I loved poking it ♥ Inside was a little bit of softened white cream and pudding cream. The Chocobat was unique, to say the least. The chocolate on the outside was fine/average, but the softened dry bread-cake inside threw me off a little. I’ll give the Chocobat a 3.5 out of 5, and the pudding mochi 4 out of 5.

These are the savory items we got from the Dagashi Bag. We have a Pizza Umaibo, which I had mixed feelings towards. I love umaibo, I love pizza, but I usually don’t like pizza-flavored things. This was pretty good, but I can’t say it’s my favorite out of the flavors I tried. 4 out of 5.

We also have the well-known snacking sauce wafers. These might break easily but you get so many of them, it doesn’t really make too much of a difference. They taste like ice cream cone, but I actually like that taste. The sauce itself was like a... salty fishy soy sauce I want to say. In tiny amounts it was delicious, but I didn’t like using too much at once because then it tasted bad. 3.5 out of 5.

Lastly, we have an item I actually couldn’t identify XD I’ve never seen it before.  They were lightly puffed snacks and covered in flavoring, comparable to the Umaibo in fact. I honestly don’t know what the flavor was supposed to be (kind of reminded me of the tonkatsu sauce Umaibo I had), but they were good. 5 out of 5.

Quality - 5 out of 5. We were promised great things with the upgrade made to Tokyo Treat and I believe we got it! Nothing was bad or damaged with the new upgraded crate/box, and it really felt like they hand picked everything lovingly~

Content - 5 out of 5. This box wasn’t themed so I can’t really base it on that. I nearly loved everything, and I really liked how they put in some fan favorite items/brands to celebrate the anniversary of the crate. 

Total Rank: 10 out of 10 Cuties! I usually always like these crates, but this definitely had to have been one of my favorites. Let’s up it keeps up x3

♥ Cutie’s Scale of Yummy ♥

(I decided not to count the Coca-Cola cause I’d be a bit biased~)

1. Baskin Robbins Love Potion #31 - If you like BR ice cream I suggest you give their chocolates based on them a try. These were exactly what I was hoping for and more!

2. Ghana Milk Chocolate - Eat this and you’ll be saying “Hershey’s who??“

2. Caramel Chocoball - Caramel is one of my favorite flavors, especially in chocolate. They give us so many, I was enjoying them greatly.

3. Chocolate Wafer - These always taste the same, but they’re always good so I can’t complain.

4. Honey Soy Sauce Rice Cracker - Really yummy!

5. Peach Gummy - These tasted really good, but it was a little generic in comparison to everything else.

6. Pudding Mochi - The soft fluffiness was wonderful, I wanted to keep poking them, not eat them.

7. Light Dashi Corn Puffs - These smelled/tasted a bit strange, but they were fairly addictive and I really liked it!

8. Things I don’t know the name of - They tasted delicious~

9. Sauce Wafers - Again, the sauce was not good when applied too thickly. Use little amounts and it’s great.

10. Scone rich cheese - I like the lack of artificial-ness here.

11. Pizza Umaibo - probably my lowest ranked Umaibo ever.

12. Chocobat - It was good, but the texture inside left me confused.

13. Green Tea Pocky - After the last box I really did not want to see green tea this soon!

14. Lobster Bisque Chip Star - I hated these to no end. I pretty much threw them at the nearest person and told them to take it. They ended up loving them surprisingly. 

And so, another review concludes Cuties. In terms of May’s box/crate I’m not sure what to expect yet. I’ve just been seeing emails regarding a few flavors of Kit-Kats. I really liked the heavy note of Savory with this box, so I kinda hope they continue evenly blending everything as advertised.
