When your boyfriend is over six foot and has an entire collection of merch where his name is plastered over cozy polyester hoodies,
you bet your sweet ass I was going to steal at least five of them.
College life wasn’t as romanticized as I thought it would be. Sure, the warmth of a coffee during a chilly morning while endlessly typing on my laptop sounded good on paper, but I guess I forgot to mention the endless due dates and upcoming exams I had to study for. I found myself buried in the corner of the university’s library on the quietest floor. I looked through my schedule, crossing out any assignments I already completed and also checking back on my classes to see if I needed to make any event adjustments.
My eyes felt heavy as I took another gulp of my caffeinated drink. My headphones shielded my ears comfortably as gentle sounds of a guitar strumming and a buttery voice filled my senses. A deep sigh escaped my nostrils before I sat back in my seat, slightly rolling away from the desk I was sitting at.
Bzzz! Bzzz!
I looked over to my phone on my desk before picking it up. I was welcomed by a picture of Wil with lipstick marks all over his face. Smiling, I swiped open the call to see my beautiful boyfriend walking around the busy streets of Brighton. I propped my phone up against my laptop to give him a full angle of me and the bookshelves behind me.
“Hey, darling, I missed you!” He smiled brightly.
“I missed you too, Wil. How was studio recording?” I asked. I pushed my laptop a little further back to make space in between me and my notebook. I took a colorful highlighter and started to go over my notes as he spoke.
“Studio was fine. We’re almost done recording a whole song for the new EP, so that should be exciting.” He chuckled. “I’m just heading over to Tom’s until you get out of school. Do you wanna get some lunch together after I pick you up?”
“Yeah, I could go for a sandwich and pretzel honestly.” I smiled, imagining the salty and buttery taste of the pretzel in my mouth already.
“Sounds good,” he confirmed. He took a glance of me briefly before doing a double take. “Hey, what are you wearing?” He asked. He held his phone closer to his face, only giving me an angle of his mess of curly hair and forehead.
“Hmm?” I hummed. “I’m just wearing my usual clothes.” I answered, oblivious.
“Now you’re just lying to me!” He laughed. “I see you smiling! Go on, stand up and let me that hoodie.”
With a defeated sigh, I stood up with my back nearly against the bookshelves so he could get a full angle of my outfit. I was wearing white tennis shoes, black shorts, but most distinctly of all, I was wearing Wil’s teal hoodie from his “Wilbur Soot ‘96” collection. The hoodie was nearly two sizes bigger than me with the sleeves going past my fingertips and my shorts just barely showing from how long the article of clothing was.
“Mhm,” he hummed. “So you decided to steal my merch, huh?”
“It’s comfy!” I exclaimed, hugging myself with the long sleeves wrapped around my waist. “Plus it smells like you, and it has your name on it! Wearing this is like screaming I’m the best partner Mr. Soot could ever ask for!” I went over and picked up my phone before holding it above my head.
“Yeah, I guess so.” He chuckled. “I’m going to steal that back once I pick you up.” He threatened, waving his finger into the camera.
“Over my dead body.” I stuck my tongue out at him. Wil scoffs, holding his hand to his chest as if offended.
“Oh, we’re going to brawl, just you wait.” He held his camera close to his eyes before bringing his lips to the camera. “Love you though!” Before I could say anything else, he hung on me.
I stared down at my phone. I smiled, tilting my head a little as I fiddled with the strings of my— or rather— Wil’s hoodie.
Maybe I should run to the gym a bit after class as a warmup.

Universities want to infect students’ laptops with undetectable rootkits
The Australian National University is insisting that students install "invigilation" software that monitors their computer use to prevent cheating during tests.
This is incredibly worrisome.
https://www.woroni.com.au/news/analysis-the-issues-surrounding-anus-proposed-online-invigilation/
These exam proctoring are typically rootkits that sink incredibly deep hooks into the OS, and it's not really feasible for students to determine whether these tools have been fully removed, or even whether they're currently operating.
These exam proctoring are typically rootkits that sink incredibly deep hooks into the OS, and it's not really feasible for students to determine whether these tools have been fully removed, or even whether they're currently operating.
Think of what it means to have university-supplied, unremovable, omnipotent rootkits installed on the laptop that you ALSO use for finance, dating, telemedicine, and psychiatric counselling.
Or what it means to have this installed on a laptop that you share with a household.
This is an increasingly common situation, because laptops are how you participate in society during lockdown, and the economy is imploding, leaving parents, siblings, and co-habitants to share a laptop or be excluded from the world because they can't afford to buy their own.
That means that your parents' employers' trade secrets are being monitored by university-supplied spyware.
Worse still, uni IT departments - which have always struggled with security and ops - are stretched thinner than ever, facing layoffs/furloughs/hiring freezes.
Key personnel on sick leave (or have died in the pandemic) and they are being asked to support orders of magnitude more activity than ever before. It's a bonanza for cybercriminals as their traditional adversaries are overtaxed and understaffed.
This is generally worrisome, but it's particularly a problem with ANU, which has a history of ghastly cybersecurity failures and massive breaches.
https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/chinese-hackers-breach-anu-putting-national-security-at-risk-20180706-p4zq0q.html
Compromising online proctoring software is a really scary prospect: if someone can seize control of the university's back-end, then, by design, they can undetectably and unstoppably take over the computers of the entire student body.
Compromising online proctoring software is a really scary prospect: if someone can seize control of the university's back-end, then, by design, they can undetectably and unstoppably take over the computers of the entire student body.
A massive explosion in Zoom use revealed unforeseen failure modes and new defects. We should expect this to happen again with invigilation tools. The different is that invigilation tools are designed to operate against computer owners' consent, and to hide those operations.
That makes their defects far more consequential.
This is a ticking timebomb.

Culture, parallels & meta - S3 E1
Previous season Prologue: Vlogs (1) - Vlogs (2)
°
Zaterdag 21:43
The time lapse already showing us a string of places that will be important later, like the dark alley, the Meir with Noor’s workplace, the university neighborhood, the Scheldt river where the boys hang out, ...
Perfect parallel:
The second season starts Zoë’s POV with a (washing machine) door, whilst the third opens with a door to a party that Robbe attends.
Robbe glances back at Noor passing through the shot this episode, an action he repeats when he spots Sander in the second episode. - A very subtle hint to where his love life may lead.
The first one starts with two unknown LGBT+ girls kissing at a party, the last episode shows two known LGBT+ boys (Sobbe) kissing at their own party.
The aerial shot through the floor to introduce us to Robbe’s POV here and the aerial shot through the roof to say goodbye to him in the last episode.
Moyo saying “No one would do you” to Aaron in this episode, Aaron realizing “No one here wants to do me!” in the last.
Where’s Wally? Noor greeting Marie, accompanied by Jana and Britt. Max dancing with Keisha in the crowd.
How ‘meta’ of you: Newsflash, yes you are!
Nod to the OG:
The deliberate messy POV: following everyone that we know already and then slowly settling on the Isak version in a tub.
Robbe saying Noor looks like ‘Natalie Portman’, which is what people said to the OG Emma when they flirted with her. Everyone, except Isak, that is.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Moyo keeps pressuring Robbe into explaining what type of girl he likes. The boys laugh it off when he answers that ‘he doesn’t have a type’.
Lost in translation: Moyo mocks Noor’s Dutch accent, making his ‘g’ and ‘st’ sound harsher, while also adding ‘hoor’ at the end - a typical word used by the Dutch to emphasize a point.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jens is playing with the weed bag. Keisha is one of the girls that Moyo mentions as Jens’ ex-girlfriend or ex-fling. Not only did Noor nót flush the toilet, but she didn’t used any toilet paper either!
°
Zaterdag 22:44
C is for culture:
Noor rescuing Robbe on her scooter - In Belgium, you’re allowed to drive a moped or scooter once you’ve reached the age of 16. Nothing is needed if the vehicle doesn’t go above 25 km/h. If it stays between the range of 25-45 km/h and max. 50 cc, you need to pass a theoretical exam, 4 hours of driver’s ed and a practical exam to get the license. Anything other than that, has a whole new set of restrictions, types of driver’s licenses and minimum ages. Noor and Robbe are, however, still breaking the law. As long as you’re not 18, you’re not allowed to have an extra passenger with you. Especially if they’re not wearing a helmet. (Plus they ignored a red light. Those rebels!)
“You do know that you always have to have it with you?” - The Belgian law states that everyone above age twelve, has to get an ID to identify themselves. Some might have had a Kids-ID already - for travel purposes - but that’s not mandatory. However, once you're fifteen years old, you’re obligated to carry your ID with you at all times.
Perfect parallel:
Luca being all jealous whilst staring at Noor and Robbe making out in S3, her glaring at Maud and Robbe every chance she got in the last season.
Robbe and Noor having fun on the scooter while screaming and Robbe filming their adventure in this episode. Robbe and Sander doing a similar thing, but on their bikes in a later episode.
Wink to other remakes: Robbe sporting a brown jacket. (Eliott, anyone?)
Surprise bitch, guess who: It’s Willem Chanterie, the on-set costume designer and social media production assistant!
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Noor has a ‘Fuck Trump’ sticker on her helmet. Robbe says “Hey, it’s red” in a very clear Antwerp accent.
°
Zaterdag 23:11
Hello from the outside: The garbage truck they sprayed, still drove around the city regularly. The art piece itself is named ‘#Genoeg mama' (= ‘#Enough mommy’). It blames the consumer society as toxic, making young people its victim.
Oopsie: Inside the graffiti den, Noor suddenly sports a tote bag with supplies, even though we never saw her wearing that in the previous shots.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Noor has black combat boots. The photographer is obviously Sander, in case you have missed that subtle clue.
°
Zondag 13:41
Lost in translation/Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity:
“Check die pekie’s”. The word ‘pekie’ is actually Amsterdam slang for ‘beautiful girl, girlfriend’. In recent years, more and more Dutch slang are making their way into the Flemish dialect, because of the Dutch rap songs gaining popularity with the youngsters.
“Vamos, flikkers”. The word ‘flikkers’ can mean ‘wussie’ as well as a derogatory term for ‘homosexual’. Again establishing the fact that the boys use a lot of homophobic or toxic words for each other.
Robbe’s clumsiness meter: +1, him tossing the bag behind Jens instead of into his hands.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: There is a football right next to the skateboards.
°
Maandag 16:04
C is for culture: “The whole art school was talking about it” -
Secondary school is divided in four sections: general, technical, art and vocational. Which section you choose can have effect on further education. In one of these sections, you pick what you want to study from your first to last year (‘directions’). That means that you have some courses purely focused on the direction and others that are obligated for everyone, regardless.
Art high schoolers can choose to go to work or study a specialization afterwards. Their coursework isn’t solely art based, there are general required courses too. That’s why some foreigners - including the Dutch - come to Belgium, since they’ll get a more rounded and higher level of art education than in their countries. ‘de!KUNSTHUMANIORA’ is the high school in Antwerp Noor goes to and is known for having students with unique styles.
Perfect parallel:
Noor waiting outside the school for Robbe and him reacting somewhat confused here, Sander doing the same and having an instantly happy Robbe in a later episode.
Robbe having no problem kissing a girl ‘as a straight guy’ in front of the gates in this episode and scared for what might happen if he kissed a boy ‘as a gay guy’ later on.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The insta caption underneath the art work says ‘An inspirational message on a Sunday! Just discovered this in Antwerp city today. Artist unknown... Can you remember when you last called on your mother?’ (That last sentence, oooofff, the symbolism!)
°
Dinsdag 14:57
C is for culture:
“Yes, mini enterprises are so chill.” - Mini enterprises are often used as a tool for Economics in the fifth/sixth year. The goal of these is to ‘learn whilst doing it’. Like the name specifies, mini enterprises are actual miniature companies set up by a group of students. During the school year, they’ll try to work together on commercializing a product. All aspects of entrepreneurship are at play here: writing a business plan, holding meetings, doing bookkeeping, marketing the product, produce and sell it, ... If the enterprise idea is good or well executed, it might even win a national prize by the company making this education formula.
“What if he contacts child protection services” - Actually, those services doesn’t really exist in Belgium. There are, however, other youth organizations for these types of things, like JAC - Youth Advice Centre, CLB - Centre for Student Guidance and the Centre for Mental Healthcare.
Perfect parallel: The boys hyping Aaron up to walk over to Amber and talk to her - yet he fails in this episode, them doing the same and he succeeds (after some fails) in the last episode.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Jens saying “Damn, seems like someone is on his fucking period”, after Robbe snaps at him due to the difficult telephone call with his dad.
Lost in translation: Jens saying “Mijn kop staat er niet naar” (= “My head’s not standing there”) can actually mean different things: I’m not in the mood, it’s not the right time, I don't want to do it, my head’s all over the place, ... It depends on the context, on which interpretation would suit the situation the best.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The girls are all fawning all over Britt’s cellphone, so there is a good chance that they’re discussing (pictures of) her boyfriend, Sander. Also, Jana’s braces are gone!
°
Donderdag 17:13
Perfect parallel: Robbe stating that he can’t talk to his dad or he’ll fight and Zoë getting that, as she said a similar thing to an understanding Senne about her parents in S2.
How ‘meta’ of you: Ah, yes, fandom ship names in SKAM. We applaud!
Oopsie: If you look really hard, you see that the body type and hair of Robbe’s dad, doesn’t correspond with the version waiting at the restaurant later on.
Wink to other remakes: This shot reminding you of a certain S3 trailer? 👀
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The numerous references to Zoënne’s relationship in their room (relationship pics, Senne’s guitar). The paper Milan gifts to Robbe is the written permission by his parent to live with them, as is obligated by law.
°
Vrijdag 20:04
Perfect parallel:
Senne pulling Zoë up after a kiss here, just like with their first kiss in S2.
Robbe pushing Milan away after thinking he wanted to kiss him at the party in S2, them hugging it out in after talking about it in S3.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Zoë and Milan making some healthy party snacks like cauliflower and cocktail sauce, cheese with tomatoes and salami squares. She pulls back the bottle of gin that Milan wants to steal. Senne also bought paprika and tortilla chips from Colruyt (a discount store).
°
Vrijdag 20:54
C is for culture: “Noor, Robbe’s girlfriend” - (Teen) dating culture is different in Belgium. Usually, if you have kissed, hung out, texted or just said/did something to show your mutual interest, you’d pretty much consider yourself in a relationship. It can go from 0 to 100 very quick. Unless there is, of course, an agreement that what you’re doing is no such thing. Also, nobody really ask you to be their gf/bf. It just implied or stated to their family or friends.
Perfect parallel:
A reluctant Robbe pushing himself to do stuff to Noor (playful dancing, kissing, riling her up) as far as putting his hands on her bra here. A totally different, excited Robbe not even thinking twice about doing these things to Sander, even licking his nipple during their reunion.
Noor pushing Robbe on the bed and climbing over him, whilst Robbe looks all sad in this episode. Him pushing Sander on the bed and being happy as Sander crawls over him during their reunion.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Robbe tries to convince himself into liking heterosexual sex with Noor and fake laughs with his friends about having it.
Where’s Wally? Keisha laughing with Amber and later dancing with Marie.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jens is talking to Senne. The decorations behind Milan saying ‘Welkom Robbe’ (= ‘Welcome Robbe’). Noor has a beautiful tattoo of a pin-up girl covered with butterflies on her lower arm.

Hi there! I read the article you posted about CA law and BDSM and I have thoughts (lol if you know me, I have thoughts about everything).
First a little about my background. I am a survivor. That shouldn’t need to be said but it’s a fact. I experienced abuse and remained with my abuser. When we broke up I clung to the belief we would reunite and felt suicidal at the idea that we might not. His abuse worsened after the break up, during the same time I thought I would rather die than not be with him.
I have volunteered and then worked in the field of sexual assault response and prevention since I was in college (20 years). I have worked for well known universities helping to ensure the mandates around consent education put forth by Dept of Ed and Title IX were fulfilled. I have also worked to train undergraduates to educate their peers about consent and rape culture and how to support survivors. I don’t mean to give my CV here but I want to make clear that I have devoted 100s if not 1000s of hours to working in the sexual assault field. Albeit not from a legal standpoint.
I’m also sex positive and BDSM-kink aware. I believe that BDSM is a natural and healthy expression of sexuality and enjoyment (some engage in BDSM without sex) for those who align with those identities.
This article sends the message that impact play in BDSM is against CA law and that consent cannot legally be given to “be assaulted.” I am not aware of any actual legal precedent where this has been the topic of a trial. If this case against AH goes to trial, it may be the first of its kind (I do not know this for a fact).
The article correctly makes the point that confidentiality is breached by medical personnel when they believe the injury they are treating is a result of a crime aka assault (not mental health care providers! that’s an important distinction and I don’t want anyone to not seek MH support because they’re fearful of a breach of confidentiality).
How awful, right? Someone goes for a r*pe exam and then the police are called. The police who are racist, misogynist, and anti sex worker (among other things). However, at the r*pe treatment centers I am familiar with the nurse will say “I need to call the police, they will come and ask for you to share what happened. You may choose to tell them - in which case their decision to press charges is out of your hands, a victim of a crime does not need to consent for charges to be pressed. You may also choose to decline to provide a statement. You can change your mind at a later date. Evidence can and will still be collected in the r*pe exam so if you decide to provide a statement to the police later we have the evidence.”
Okay so let’s go back to BDSM. For the police to be notified about the effects of impact play and for them to press charges, a sub (or person on the receiving end of consensual impact play) would first have to seek medical attention. This could happen! Even with full consent and negotiation, bodies respond in unexpected ways and an injury requiring medical attention could occur. Upon seeking medical attention, the healthcare provider would have to decide that this injury occurred as a result of a crime/assault. There is some clinical judgment and discretion here (and we can see here where sometimes police are called for suspected child abuse). If I tripped over my spouse and broke my wrist, did a crime occur? No. But my spouse did “cause” my injury. In theory the police could be called to rule out that a crime occurred.
Let’s say the police are called. Then the person with the injury would have to cooperate and provide a statement. They’re not the ones who are allegedly breaking the law, there is nothing that says you have to speak to the police if you are the “victim of a crime “ (quotes here because the sub is a victim by the letter of the law). So now the police have a potential crime that’s been committed and a victim who refuses to cooperate. Are they going to waste their time trying to pursue this case? No. They barely spend any time pursuing actual sex crimes, the backlog of r*pe kits in LA alone is disgusting.
We also know that it is notoriously difficult for victim/survivors of r*pe to find justice through the legal system. More so when the r*pe occurred in the context of an ongoing relationship. I’m not sure the DA is going to pursue a case of impact play that resulted in an injury that required medical attention (which I should say is exceedingly rare, Risk Aware Kink seeks to avoid injuries such as those) when they’re busy with other cases with a victim who wants to go to court.
If Ms Allred takes this case to court, it may well be the first time the legality of aspects of BDSM are truly examined. However, I also cannot state clearly enough that everything I have read and seen makes this not a case about BDSM and entirely a case about r*pe. Although, sadly, the victim/survivor’s sexual history and interests will also be on trial, as with every other sexual assault case.
Even though it shouldn’t matter. You can have a million partners of every gender, prance down the street naked, enjoy the kinkiest sex imaginable, have consented to sex with this person previously, consent to sex with this person again in the future, and it is still r*pe if ongoing consent was not obtained.
Sorry this is so long winded! I hope it provides some context from my own perspective and within the limits of my own experience in this field.
@thatajthings you are a treasure. Thank you so much for taking the time to offer this insight. And, above all, thank you for the service you have provided to other survivors over the years. Truly. 💜
There's so much information here, but this really stood out to me the most:
"a victim of a crime does not need to consent for charges to be pressed"
I did not know this and so wonder if this might be why or how Gloria can say that Effie hasn't pressed charges?

OK. HI?
So don’t know how many of you are going to read what I write here or how many people am I going to reach on this platform AND don’t know if Tumblr is still relevant. But we are having our quarantine days and some of us doing instagram, some of us twitter but I chose here because I don’t want anyone to find me or disturb me (especially my close friends and family I MEAN people that are in my close circle) and I’m an old school person even though I’m 98s kid. Back in the days Tumblr was a thing but right now I’m using it just to hunt CCs for my Sims4 that I CAN’T EVEN PLAY because my MacAir is almost 11 years old and has the SHITIEST processor.
DON’T WANT TO THROW ANY SHADES TO APPLE! I LOVE YOU!
I’ve been an apple user since the iPod times I’ve seen the evolution of the Apple but like every apple users are complaining and I’M HERE TO COMPLAIN TOO. After a specific time the company will make you to buy another newer computer or phone or etc. Because all the items that they are producing has a hidden expiration date, like for computers I’m guessing 6-8 years. After 6-8 years they stop supporting your version of your computer. Anyways this is not Apple Support platform.
Back to our subject. As you can tell by my grammatical errors, english is not my first/main language. Not going to tell you my first language either. OH MY GOD- I love that how I’m acting like an anonymous blogger with an unidentified account. AHAHAH! I’m not a creepy person believe me! Don’t get scared. I just- really want to make myself invisible, do you know how hard is to post things with parents who always monitor your action but if you ask them THEY DON’T DO ANYTHING. Yeah, right right. I DID EVEN CHANGE MY MAIL ADRESS SO THAT NO ONE COULD FIND ME THROUGH MY MAIL!
So let me talk about myself a bit.
I’m an university student. I’m at Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences in short FEASS and this year supposed to be my last year BUT still have a year to go! I passed the english preparation exam in the first year but got suspended at second grade and repeated that year. Because my GPA wasn’t enough for third year. YES, I’m not a bright student, there you go another fact about me! I hate my department not like “HATE HATE”, I just don’t like it. I wasn’t supposed to be a FEASS student, I’m more like a communication, media faculty person. Even my dad said “Don’t do it” but my stubborn ass said “DUCK IT I’M GOING TO DO IT!”. First of all I HATE MATH! and I found myself in a place like, if I have 6 courses five of them have MATH THINGS! I failed three times in Macroeconomy even went to summer school couldn’t pass it, right now I’m taking it for the fourth time and I’m hoping to pass. And yes I failed rest of the math-like classes that’s why my GPA went down, and my university year extended. Not complaining though, because don’t want to finish it quickly and then come back to my hometown and sit on a chair. I KNOW for me to stay where I am I need to search for internship programmes or jobs but now I can’t do that either because I’m too tried for those stuff THINKING ABOUT FUTURE UGH! BUT definitely going to do it anyway. I have plans and dreams to go aboard and not for job stuff just to explore and visit different places. Thankfully, my dad used to plan loads of trips so I had loads of chances to visit loads of country. BUT there’s one specific country that I really want to visit is SOUTH KOREA! I see lots of photos on instagram and pinterest which are SO beautifully taken and so aesthetically pleasing.
BEING AESTHETICALLY PLEASING IS SO IMPORTANT!
So there you go, I’m not from South Korea, cross on that, but where else could be? NOT GOING TO TELL YOU! *sarcastic evil laugh*
So anyway from now on going to wait some people to drop and write daily or weekly stuff they could be about anything! and going to put some hashtags based on some of my interests!
Sincerely, HTTP-IMSODONE
