Jussie has been indicted on 16 felony counts for falsely reporting a hate crime. According to #CBSChicago: The grand jury returned the disorderly conduct charges on Thursday. He is scheduled to be arraigned on March 14. The specific allegations–“false report of offense”– are Class 4 felonies. “Jussie Smollett knew that at the time … there was no reasonable ground for believing that such offenses had been committed,” according to the indictment. The indictment expands the case against the actor. The counts focus on allegedly false statements he made to two different Chicago Police officers. #CBSChicago reports it all started with Candice Payne’s first act of kindness, and then it snowballed into “a lifesaving effort by a group of strangers on the city’s South Side.” Many people living in a “tent city” had to abandon the area after a propane tank being used for heat exploded. Volunteer Candice Payne started it all, “impulsively charging 20 hotel rooms on her American Express card after realizing how dangerous this week’s sub-zero temperatures would be.” That’s when other volunteers also dug deep into their pockets and picked up the tab for a total of 60 hotel rooms for homeless men and women during the cold snap. As CBS 2’s Charlie De Mar reported, Gyovanny Arzuaga, 24, and Yasmin Perez, 25, were the parents of young kids Sofiya and Jayden. On Saturday night, they were the victims of a horrific shooting described as being execution-style – and which all stemmed from a minor traffic accident. Arzuaga died soon afterward, while Perez succumbed to her wounds earlier Tuesday. “He just came out here to celebrate,” said Joshua Diaz. The couple came to Humboldt Park to celebrate the Puerto Rican People’s Parade on Saturday. In a now-viral video, a group surrounds their car and they pull Perez out of the driver’s seat, beat her, and then shoot her. Arzuaga tried shielding her, but he too was shot and killed. “Execution style – that’s what they did,” Knight said. “All he did was try to save his wife, so they decided to shoot him in the head.” “I couldn’t even watch it.
