I think my greatest fear for the Ahsoka show is not just Sabine or Ezra dying, because I can try to pretend that didn't happen, but Sabine or Ezra dying, and that making my fellow shippers (and especially my best fandom friends) who can't pretend it didn't happen lose their joy for star wars and disappear, one by one, and i will be left to miss their fics and their art and their jokes and their comments and the fun we had together.

oh dude holy fucking shit . so. u know i have been posting about jrwi it has been my main thing since like november. well. in case u do not know. its a dnd podcast run by charlie slimecicle, grizzlyplays, condifiction and bizly. their main campaign is called Riptide and its the one with the fish guy and all the pirates. WELL. they have a patreon and on their patreon they sometimes do mini campaigns! let me preface this by saying i have never even REMOTELY had an interest in paying for ANYTHING on patreon only because i fuckinf hate subscription payments and also im usually hesitant about paying money for fandom things especially in the content creator sphere etc etc you know how it is . HOWEVER. god their pther campaigns are so fucking worth it dude. the long running secondary main campaign thats been going along around the same time as riptide is called Prime Defenders and its a superhero themed one! i am just at the beginning of season 2 rn its so good william wisp my absolute beloved. (something else rlly cool is that they rotate being the dm for each of the campaigns and i think that makes each of them really fresh and unique bc everyone has a different dm style and a different way of telling a story. god i fucking love dnd and collaborative storytellint its incredible)

ANYWAY IM GRTTING SIDETRACKED. so during hiatuses from riptide and pd they sometimes run limited campaigns that only go for a handful of epsiodes. one of this is. regrettably. called the Suckening. its run using the vampires: masquerade ttrpg setup and ruleset which is. obviously. centered around vampires. CHARLIE SLIMECICLE is the dm and i fucking love it because god that man has a mind for horror. (he also ran blood in the bayou which was a 4-epispde mini campaign using call of cthulu and ive listened to it like 3 times now bc its got nasty bug body horror in it hooooly shit its so good) ANYWAY. um . its not *as* homoerotic as the fanart makes it out to be. just a warning. but there is a scene where two homies drink each others blood (one is a human one is a vampire. theres this think in the masquerade called blood bonding and its like. if you get a human to drink your blood on three separate occasions they become your servant basically. really homoerotic stuff in theory) and when the vampire is scolded for it he goes "well he already loves me. hes my boy" and they generally have that dynamic going on. fizzfangs i lvoe you.

ANYWAY UHHHHH. the first ... four? five? episodes are up for free on YouTube and theyve got a fun little visual novel style to them with the official character art :] heres a link 2 the first ep!!

This is Kaj - named after my second favorite show as a child - he´s 25 cm long, and he´s a treefrog, there didn´t stand which one but my best guess is a red eyed tree frog, he just doesn't have the blue stripes, he could also be a Agalychnis moreletii (Morelet's tree frog) but he doesn't have black eyes and Morelet´s are known for their black eyes (a nickname of theirs is black eyed frog).

He could also be an American green tree frog, but his feet are a bit too pigmented, and back a bit to light for that, although the eyes would match there.

Actually he´s a woman as he has an ovary and oviduct (the blue stuff you can see below his urostyle) but I didn´t know that until I unpacked him, where I already had named him

Going with the idea he´s a Morelet (as that´s what he looks most like) he would be around 60mm (f-54 m-60/64)

Red eyed tree frog gets around 6/7 cm (f-7,5 m-5)

All in conclusion he´s a tree frog. Which kind of one? Karl.

And no, the crabs need not fear, he´s much too small to be of any danger in the wild, and my Kaj is made of plastic so he doesn't really jump or eat, unfortunately.

Although some crabs might want to watch out for the Goliath frog... (world's biggest frog at around 32 cm and 3.3 kilograms)

i'm not gonna lie i am happy we got a trailer, but im so anxious!! maybe it's just seeing so much fandom discourse, but after i finished watching the last episode of s2, i wasn't even thinking that they couldn't be endgame! cause like they've been through so much, there's no way that they won't end up together! but we all forget that they are just 16 year olds!! they deserve to live and enjoy life!! if them being together is not working out, then we just have to go with it! cause they are 16! they don't need to make a decision like whether they have to be together for the rest of their lives, lol!!

ok this got ranty but I GOTTA SAY IT. I’VE BEEN HOLDING IT IN FOR TOO LONG. before we start, this isn’t personal, I just have pet peeves.

i am SO TIRED of people seeing a cool character and immediately going "oh he's hot and sexy."

i know some people just like having fictional crushes and that's okay, and i know this has been said before, but it gets drowned out so much and i gotta reiterate it.

people, like, mass crush on these characters to the point that the first thing the average person thinks of them is "hot guy" instead of their actual character. and half the time they're actually goofballs like they are silly you are changing their character to fit your romantic "sexy guy" mold that every other romantic "sexy guy" has they’re a carbon copy now where’s the awkwardness? removing the awkwardness has MADE THIS AWKWARD!!!

and it’s not just like “I see it and I don’t like it.” I don’t like talking about some of my favorite characters sometimes because people have mass crushed on them and I know others will assume that I too have a crush on that character when that could be not further from the truth. And they won’t believe me when I say “I don’t have a crush on this character I just like them, like as a character.” because in their mind, EVERYONE has a crush on this character, and I’m just trying to cover up. I wanna talk about this character but I don’t want people to associate me with the GOONERS.

Also, l’ll be talking with someone and I’ll find out we like the same character and I’ll get so excited only for the light to immediately fade from my eyes because the next thing they say is “They’re soooooo hot!” Like, no. I don’t want to talk about how hot they are. I want to talk about how interesting they were in the story. Do you even know the interesting things they did in the story? Do you even care? Do you even know how they actually act? Have you ever even seen the piece of media? I am immediately shut down everything I say now will make me feel out of place and like a nerd and they will be utterly uninterested in whatever I talk about.

I don’t like talking down on how people enjoy a character. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having fictional crushes or deviating from canon to make your crush sexier. I just think it’s annoying. It’s made me like some of my favs less because then I only see work of them where they’re “hot and sexy” and I just don’t wanna see that, so I lean towards another character. Live y’all’s truth, but I’m also gonna live mine, and I can’t stand these cheap generalizations of a character no more.

Hey, so, Patreon is lying to you about Apple forcing their hand.

Patreon is getting rid of 1st-of-the-month/per-creation billing, claiming a new decision by Apple has forced their hand. This will hurt a lot of creatives, and their excuse is bullshit. Allow me to explain.

In 2018, Patreon tried to impose a new ill-considered fee structure on everyone that would have cost creators a lot of smaller pledges. They ended up apologizing for this profusely; they have now deleted this apology from their website and unfortunately I was unable to find it on the Internet Archive. This was shameful, but to their credit they backed off quickly when things got ugly.

Back in 2021, Patreon discussed plans to force all creators into a rolling bill structure and get rid of first-of-the-month/pay-up-front billing. The community once again very decisively shouted them down, and they had to walk it back again. This whole fiasco damaged the already shaky trust between Patreon creators and staff.

This week, Patreon announced that, along with extra fees, Apple's policies were supposedly forcing them to move everyone over to the rolling fee structure that they first tried to get us to agree to in 2021. Patreon will tell you they are not happy about this. As a person who spent a long time watching Patreon make terrible decisions, I can tell you-- they are probably very happy about this, because it's exactly the smokescreen they needed to do what they've been trying to do for years, which is pull ALL Patreon creators away from 1st-of-the-month and per-creation billing.

The spin in the news I've seen so far is "Apple bullies Patreon, boo hoo hoo poor Patreon". This is very obviously not what's happening. Mind you: Apple does suck, and they are doing something bad here. Fuck apple. But Patreon and Apple are BOTH the asshole in this situation; Everyone Sucks Here. Patreon has options: they can make the iOS app a reader app and do billing through the browser to avoid the restrictions and the extra fees (Netflix and Amazon, notably, both do this), or they can allow creators to opt-out of iOS billing if they want to use billing models that don't work with it.

It seems most likely to me that the Apple situation is a real fire that Patreon has chosen to use as a convenient smokescreen to do what they've been wanting to do since at least 2021, and maybe since 2018.

What do we do?:

They have a feedback form specifically about this.

They also have a creator discord.

And they have lots of social media pages where they probably really, really hope that this doesn't blow up again, because they never learn. The incidents I've described here aren't the only two other times Patreon has pissed off their creators. They know if they don't contain the noise it'll be harder to get away with it, so make some noise. They've done a lot of work to spin this cleverly so you'll have sympathy for them and they won't get the kind of backlash they know they deserve.

Please don't misuse these links and make threats or spam or something. All you have to do is give well-reasoned feedback. Patreon hates feedback. Make sure they get a nice heaping helping of their least favorite vegetable.
