“So many institutions came out of 2020 and the murder of George Floyd thinking, ‘How can we center Black voices?’” Shaw says. “Well, CAAM’s been centering Black voices since 1977. That’s the point of what we do. So [the question was]: what are we modeling next regarding cultural practice? For me, that thing was depth.”

As part of her new vision, Shaw created four pillars to guide the development of exhibitions and public programming at CAAM, which has four full-time curators. The pillars — Black abstraction, Black lives/green justice, liberating the Black archive, and spirituality and ancestral technologies — came out of a period of “deep listening,” Shaw says, in which she engaged CAAM staffers, artists, community members, and others to get a sense of the issues on people’s minds. Specifically, she was interested in how those issues intersect with their everyday lives and what being a Black museum in Los Angeles means.

if i’m interpreting what you’re saying correctly, that’s actually not what moral ocd is. I’m going to assume that the original post was about both harm and scrupulosity ocd, so here’s an explanation of both:

Harm OCD is a subtype of OCD where the person experiences extremely frequent and distressing intrusive thoughts of causing physical harm to themself or others.

Scrupulosity OCD is a form of OCD where the person is overly worried about breaking a religious or moral code/being a bad person. these thoughts are out of proportion to the actions and are extremely distressing

there are compulsions that commonly accompany both, but they vary pretty widely. I can explain some of them if you want.

Also, I don’t know if you actually have OCD. if so, ignore this part. If not, OCD is a genuine mental condition with specific symptoms and criteria that usually takes at least an hour of the person’s day and causes “clinically significant distress/impairment” (dsm criteria), although it can be one or the other. It’s a disorder that often drives people to engage in unhealthy coping mechanisms and/or suicidal ideation.
