Your average billionaire MMC (a dominant, controlling, alpha male) would not give in to those puppy-dog eyes. At their worst, these dudes aren't even moved by their love interest's tears. Or if they are, they still don't fold. Huge asshole moments come before the grovelling.

So, why is self-love day the hardest day of all? Every year, I see dozens of posts for all the other days - and then it slows rapidly for self-love. Meanwhile, here I am telling people, "Get to it! I want to see your self-love posts," and I'm like, "Oh, shit, that means I should do one!" lol

I'm proudest of venturing into writing for Wake the Dead and Crimes of Passion. I can't wait to write more for both of them in the future.

Wake the Dead is the pleasure of "writing for me" because, while I have a few readers who really enjoyed those works, it's not a popular story/pairing, but I love it. The Eli prequel fics are among my favorites, but I love his story with Zoe, too. I plan to expand on their HC in the near future. One of my favorite Eli x Zoe fics is Comfort & Joy. A bittersweet story that honors all they've been through, while showing what they've brought into each other's lives.

With Crimes of Passion, I have had so much fun getting to know Trytan and Carolina better, and I can't wait to explore their story more. I have loved the angsty/fluffy stories about them in my HC; some favorites are Better This Way, Breathe Again, and "...and you have me." I also enjoyed writing an angsty AU based on what would happen if they didn't stay together in Book 2 called A Moment in Time. The final part of that series will be up in the next couple of weeks.

Back in Open Heart, I'm happy I've written more about my MC Casey's past, particularly her relationship with her ex-girlfriend, Jessica.

But, of all my pairings, Tobias & Casey still have my heart. They really are the OTP for me. I haven't done enough with them recently, and plan on remedying that. I have some angstier outstanding AUs that I want to work on: What's Forever For?, an AU where the divorce (though neither really wanted to) and now they have to figure out how to move forward, By Chance, which is a messy AU where they met and fell hard... but they were too young and god will they screw things up in this messy AU, and I am like a year late at finishing up Where it Goes From Here, god, I suck (wait, that's not self-love! lol)

In my HC for the pair, I'm going to finally show you HOW they got together, and that's my immediate goal. Then I'll explore their future because, honestly, how much longer will we have an OH fandom :(.

Another thing I've loved this year is how much fun they've had with friends! With @lilyoffandoms Ethan and Merida and @storyofmychoices Bryce and Olivia - I need to create a masterlist for this crew! I will, and I will come back and tag it!

Then they went and became besties with @mydemonsdrivealimo's Jensen and Bryce, and I ended up dropping these two nutty, amazing men right into my HC. They need a list too. Shit, I have work to do. lol

They even got to play with @trappedinfanfiction's Ethan x Celia. Tobias & Casey get AROUND, and that's fitting for my babies! lol

In Ethan and Kaycee's land I will be wrapping up A Different Fate, which is my favorite thing that I've done for them in the past year. I got a $40 donation for Anera through Write for Gaza Project, and the donor (who wishes to remain anonymous) asked me to finish this series. I can't think of a better reason to do so!

Also had some fun with some uber-fluff for these two in As Planned, , and I do. Me too.

I introduced Ethan's LI in my T/C wold, Dr. Eva Mendoza, and I will be exploring her more in 2024.

        As soon as Colin left to drop the kids off at home Zoe quickly set forth with her plan. Once he was out of the driveway she hurried out to the garage where she searched around for an old mirror they had in their last house. It was one of those backdrop pieces, long and wide meant to hang on the wall behind a sofa. But that’s not where she had planned on putting it. This bad boy was going to go on the wall in their bedroom. Thanks to her werewolf strength it was nothing for her to carry the heavy piece to where she wanted it.

        Now standing at the foot of their bed she looked for a perfect angle. Over the bed on the ceiling wouldn’t do because they weren’t very traditional these days. At the head of the bed would be nothing more than a dead giveaway. Reaching up she rubbed her chin in thought. The other side of the room across from the foot of the bed was going to be her best bet.

        The mirror was set in place finally. It appeared that no matter what angle she picked the bed was right in view. Perfect! Off to the kitchen, she dashed to grab a bottle of wine and two glasses. Those being placed over on the nightstand on her side of the bed. She lit a few candles in the room and put on some soft soothing music. While she was setting a romantic scene she didn’t want to make it look too obvious. The wine and music were usually normal, the candles and the mirror of course being the only added additions.

        She heard the garage door open and Colin’s car pulling in. Quickly Zoe unbuttoned her shirt and began pulling it off. Okay, forget not being obvious. The red shirt she pulled off was draped over the bedside lamp to give the room a glowing red effect. The door opens to the house and once she knows for sure Colin’s inside she calls for him.

        Now standing center of the room with nothing more than her shorts and bra ...  “ Honey, I’m having an issue in the bedroom. Can you come help? “

Country Bowls Club by Jo Richardson The Flamingos travelled to Greenland’s on Monday in good spirits. Our old sister club is blessed with some fine bowlers and so the morning progressed with each rink being keenly contested. By early afternoon, however, the game had taken on a different look and the Flamingos went on to record another fine away win. Results are; Rink 4 – Sylvia Rennie, Dave Smith and Jim Rennie 11 – 21, Rink 5 – Pat Ray, Peter Robins and Brian Ray 30 – 21, Rink 6 – Ben Noke, Pat Emmet and Ray Emmet 20 – 13, Rink 7 – Dennis Wade, Les Turner and Phil Warrington 20 – 21, Rink 8 – John Jukes, Derek Jiggins and Geoff Paylor 23 – 28 Friday saw the Gecko’s arriving at the club to a green that had experienced a wild hailstorm through the night and Graham, the owner of Country Bowls, working the carpet brush to clear the sitting water and make the green playable. After a couple of hours of hard work the game was back on. San Miguel were tough opposition coming to Country Bowls from a great win against the top of the league team Mazarron Miners. The Gecko’s played hard and fought to the end in very difficult high winds resulting in a great win. The Gecko’s winning teams were Pat Patton, Den Wade and Brian Patton. 26 – 10, Ben Noke, Pat Ray and Brian Ray. 22 – 18, And Brenda Jiggins, Derek Jiggins and Ray Emmet. 18 – 13. With a total of 95 shots against San Miguel on 88,the Gecko’s enjoyed a welcome 8 – 4 win. Our second game on Friday were the Cubs away to Vista Bella Conquistadors on a very windy afternoon. Whilst the bowls ran straight on one hand and swung far on the other, it took both teams all their skills and talent just to play to the jack. A closer game could not have been predicted with Country Bowls taking the shot difference of 6 and winning on 3 rinks. Overall score 8 – 4 to the Cubs. Peter Parsons, Don Fowkes and Barbara Forshaw had admirable draw at 20 – 20. Then away went the Pathfinders to play Vistabella  Eagles and came away 12 – 0 winners much to the delight of Captain Jean  Perchard and Hubby Terry who won 18 – 11 with  help from Margaret Sadler. Not to be out done Barry Sadler, Dave McGaw and Desna Lowe won 26 – 14. In the Enterprise Division the Apollos entertained Quesada Pearls and won by 105 shots to 60 picking up 10 points.Star performance came from the rink of Derek Biggs,Jenny Bowman and Irene Mangan winning 23 shots to 8. Our Winter League team travelled to Bonalba and won on 2 of the 5 rinks picking up 4 points. A further rink was close which would have enabled a draw with their opponents. In the Southern League  A Division the Blues visited San Luis Lions and picked up 2 points the overall match shots being 64-111 winning on the rink of Joy & Brian Gardiner with Jean Cooper by 18 shots to 14. In the B Division the Golds played their re-arranged home game against El Rancho Broncos and won by 116 shots to 69 picking up 10 points with biggest winning rink coming from Jo Elkin,Tony Dalton and Vic Mahomet winning 37-13 closely followed by Derek Smith, Val Dalton and Rab Logan winning by 16 shots and Doug Beattie,Norman Adcroft and Fay Beattie winning by 15 shots the Golds then on Friday travelled to San Luis Leopards and had an excellent 118-62 shots victory.the team picked up 11 points to the Leopards 1. In the C Division the Silvers played the Rangers at a very windy El Rancho and lost by 96 shots to 51.Well done to Joe Kocsis, Ken Stringfellow and John Clarke who managed to win on their rink by 20 shots to 13 picking up 2 points for the Silvers. There were some very close games and whilst there were some showers, rain didn’t stop play! Emerald Isle Titans won on 3 rinks and drew on one rink after picking up 3 shots on the last end and Quesada Diamonds won on one rink and drew on one rink. Shots were 74 to Quesada Diamonds and 90 to Emerald Isle Titans. Score was 3 points to Quesada Diamonds and 9 points to Emerald Isle Titans. The friendly which was a very good game ended in Quesada's favour 23 shots to 13 shots. Meantime, Quesada Pearls were playing at La Siesta in similar cold and showery conditions. La Siesta Apollo’s had an excellent mornings bowls, leading all the way in a match that unfortunately ended with Quesada winning on only one rink. The final score was 10 points to La Siesta and 2 points to Quesada with the shots 105-60. In the Discovery Division, Quesada Rubies played at Emerald Isle against the Moonrakers who won the match 10-2 points and 113-58 shots. On Wednesday the Winter league team had an early start this week and travelled to Benitachell for their match. The match ended with 6 points to each team but Benitachell finished ahead on shots 91-74. And on Friday, a glorious sunny, but rather windy day, Quesada Swifts hosted El Rancho. In a match that was played in excellent spirits with some good bowling from both teams, the Swifts ended the match with a good win of 9-3 points. The youngest in that family - she wouldn't be able to get a word in edgewise even if she wanted to - and I don't think she wants to.)

When Ethan, Tobias and your MC's were young - did their parents ever lose them?!

I'm so sorry this is so late - but wait - you haven't answered the original either. lmao OK, I feel better now! Let's explore below. Them losing kids first, their own childhood experiences after.

Ethan x Kaycee:

I imagine Ethan is an overbearing, helicopter parent to little Emma most of the time. Kaycee would be, but she had to ease off because, with two parents like that, even they wouldn't be able to afford the therapy. But I imagine they lost Emma once.

They attended a state fair in late summer when Emma was around 4. It was crowded, and in the chaos, there was some miscommunication. Ethan thought Kaycee was watching her while he ran to the restroom, and Kaycee thought he was watching as she ran to buy Emma a snack. When they realized what happened, they both went into a panic. Luckily for them, Aunt Sienna and Uncle Bryce were nearby, and Emma wasn't unattended at all, but that didn't stop her parent's hearts from stopping just a bit.

Tobias x Casey:

So they have three little spitfires that have all the spunk and sass of their parents inside their tiny little selves. And did I mention they have three of them? I can see these girls (especially the younger two) hiding in clothing racks in stores, running off when they weren't supposed to, etc. It probably would have happened more often, except... the one time it did, they learned a pretty serious lesson.

I can see it happening at a mall. Tobias and Casey have the three girls, who have been a little hyperactive today. He's already given Casey the "we have to get out of her in five, or I'm losing my mind" signal, and she's already agreed. Sammy's whining that she needs to go to the bathroom (again...) and the other two decide to play a trick on their parents and hide.

When Casey turns around, and the girls are gone, she is calm at first, assuming they're playing around, but when they don't come out... she starts panicking. (She has an anxiety disorder, and this triggers her.) Tobias tells her to calm down, and they notify Mall staff, who initiate protocol for missing children. Tobias and & Casey start looking, but Casey starts crying and has a panic attack... seeing this from their hiding spot, Brooke & Kayla are afraid to come out but figure it's better that they do.

The girls felt so guilty, and got such a talking to after that watching them going forward became much easier as the girls made sure to stay close by no matter what. (I'm sure there were other minor incidents since there were 3 of them, but this would be the biggie)

Eli x Zoe:

I'm going to say no to them, at least not when the children were teens or younger. Why? It's a matter of survival. There was the incident in canon where the little girl, May, went missing - and look what happened there. lol But all children in the colony would be extremely well supervised, and Eli and Zoe's children would be no exception. However, the utter angst if they did.

Trystan x Zoe:

I'm not 100% sure if they are endgame yet 😟 (though they prob will be), but I don't know if children are in the cards for them. Even if they're not, they could be watching someone else's child. Honestly, I may make this a fic. The idea of the detectives losing a child and having the child outwit them is kind of hysterical.

(FYI this is much harder with so many pairings lol)

Were they ever lost as kids?

Casey/Kaycee lived in Philadelphia, and in their neighborhood, children played outside by themselves a little more than they do now. C/K loved riding their bikes with their friends as they got older; it was transportation as well as recreation, but they had strict rules about how far they could go, and usually, they honored that. However, one night, they didn't come home at the time expected, and the parents were worried. A neighbor lent them their car so they could search, and they were becoming panicked when they learned Casey/Kaycee was already home. There may have been some incidents of getting lost in a supermarket for a minute or so, but not too many. C/K was an only child who always wanted to be a good little girl, so I think she tended to stick close.

Ethan, I think he was an imp. He probably wandered around when he was told not to, especially if there was something he found intriguing. We used to have stores called The Sharper Image. They sold high-end novelty things, often with a scientific/technology bend. I can see a young Ethan getting distracted by something in there and not hearing his parents say, "Let's go," so he'd lag behind.

After Louise took off, I think Ethan had some days of purposely going missing. While Alan reminded himself his son was acting out and likely safe, it was no less stressful on his father.

Tobias was from a wealthy family and was rarely without supervision by his parents or childcare help as a young boy, so getting lost wasn't an easy endeavor. But I'm sure it happened at times. Probably at big family events - on his mother's side because he and his cousins were having so much fun and not paying attention - on his father's because he was trying to get away. Now, I wouldn't want to deal with Vivian Carrick after that - so I'm sure he learned not to let it happen again lol
