Those were really good Football team headcanons 👏 I think each one you mentioned fit great with that sports team.
Could you please share more headcanons about the other characters’ fav teams 👀?
Oh, I love this.
Ok, I think not all the characters would be a football fans. So, if is not in this list, they don't support any team, or don't care about the sport.
Webby - Liverpool
It was hard for Webby, her grandma is an Aston Villa fan, her hero is a Celtic fan. Which team should she support?
What moves Webby is love, dedication, passion. And it was the passion the Liverpool fans show what make her a fan herself.
It was a secret, until she found out Donald is also a Liverpool fan. Just another thing to bond about for them.
Huey - All of them
Huey loves his family and friends, so he can't take sides. He supports all the teams, depending on the circumstances.
Dewey - Manchester United
The second Dewey found out that Della was a Manchester fan, he took her side. You know that's a Dewey thing.
Sadly, he forgot that Manchester was on downhill since 2014. He has to watch the Europa League and begs that next year will be better.
Louie - Liverpool
All the triplets were Liverpool fans thanks to Donald. When their circle grew, Huey decided that he wanted to support all the teams, Dewey took Della's side, but Louie stay by his uncle side. Donald made him a Liverpool fan, he will stay a Liverpool fan.
A bit bias for Donald and Louis relationship? Yes. Always.
May & June - Liverpool
Just like their brother, the twins wanted to follow their dad. Easy.
Violet - Internazionale
Violet was never that interested in football. She knew the basics, the big tournaments and big teams. But then, she got a sister.
An italian sister.
An AC Milan fan sister.
And Violet knew what she had to do, and became an Inter fan. Just to get under Lena's skin. That's such a sisterhood thing to do.
Gosalyn - Borussia Dortmund
One more that has her focus on passion. Gosalyn in 2017 is a latina, but her last name has a bit of german flavour. That's where she found her team, a team who's rebel and loyal.
Perfect for Gos.
The last game of the 2022-2023 season broke her heart.
B.O.Y.D. - Real Madrid
Sweet baby B.O.Y.D. has a whole world to discover. He spends most of his time with the rest of the Team Science, so he listens to Fenton's stories about a team that can make miracles happen, a team that doesn't know how to give up, and their victories can only be described as epic.
Yes, Fenton's influence turned B.O.Y.D. in a Real Madrid fan.
Real Madrid bias? Of course.
José - Flamengo
I asked an expert, @fantasticenthusiasttale, for this one.
She told me that José Carioca lives in a neighborhood in the city of Rio de Janeiro called Vila Xurupita, which has its own soccer team, Xurupita FC. He even played for them.
But, her headcanon is that José is a Flamengo fan. And who I am to disagree?
Panchito - Necaxa
To tell the truth, I know nothing about Mexico football. I stared at Panchito and said, this is the face of a Necaxa fan.
So there you have it.
Gladstone - Manchester City
The notorious freeloader Gladstone Gander of course is a Manchester City fan.
He knows nothing about the team's history, but when he found out the team has a almost bottomless wallet, he became a fan.
Matilda - Rangers
Like Violet, Matilda began supporting Rangers only to get under Scrooge's skin.
With the time, she actually became a passionate fan who enjoyed going to the games. She and Scrooge have been in many Old Firm (Rangers vs Celtic) games.
When the team was sended to the 4th division, she went to every game until Rangers returned to the Scottish Premiership.
Ludwig Von Drake - Rapid Wien
In his youth, professor Von Drake enjoyed seeing the football Rapid Wien showed. A team for the working class, who fights day by day.
Von Drake was happy to see that Rapid still was the most successful team of the country.
But professor didn't see with good eyes the grow of Red Bull Salzburg. A team born of a corporation, who denies its own history.
Von Drake awaits for the resurgence of Rapid.
Mark Beaks - Inter Miami
When Messi signed with Inter Miami, Mark Beaks flew to the city because he knew that was buzz worthy.
That's the only reason he has to go to the games.
This was so much fun. Thanks for the ask @ducktales-and-ducks, sorry I couldn't finish this one earlier.

Can I request Panchito and Jose (separately) being in love with hyperactive S/O?
A/N ~ Sure! I have ADHD, and a symptom of that is hyperactivity. So I feel like this is really accurate. But if it’s not, apologies! Hope you enjoy!

~The Three Caballeros Masterlist~
~~~❤️~~~🖤~~~💚~~~
~Panchito Pistoles~
~~~🐎~~~🐎~~~🐎~~~
~ Panchito is pretty hyperactive himself! So he definitely understands a lot of your traits and struggles. He can get distracted easily, and has trouble sitting still. He can also be impulsive at times. So if you need someone to talk to about your hyperactivity with, he’s a pretty good option!
~ He knows he can be too much for a lot of people. But he found that hyperactive people tend to be drawn to people who are also hyperactive. So now, you and him have each other! He’s happy to know that he has a less chance of bothering you, since you share a lot of his own traits!
(name): “I know we only turned on this movie five minutes ago, but-“
Panchito: “You’re bored?”
(name): “Yeah…”
Panchito: “Me too! Wanna go do something else?”
(name): “Yeah!”
~ If you’re more hyperactive than him, he can see things more clearly. For example, he can tell when you need to sleep. A bad sleep schedule can increase your hyperactivity, so he knows it’s important to get you to sleep at a reasonable hour. Even if you claim you’re not tired, he gets you to go to bed.
~ Exercise is important for everyone. But it’s very helpful for hyperactive people! Even if you hate exercising, Panchito will find something that you’ll like! Releasing all your pent-up energy helps you and your brain calm down. So while you may not enjoy the actual exercise, you’ll be grateful for the results.
(name): “Ugh, finally it’s over! I’m not getting back up for another week.”
Panchito: “Haha! Well isn’t that a good change?”
(name): “I guess. My mind feels calmer now.”
~ Panchito is not good at making or following schedules. But he figures that doing so can benefit the both of you! So the both of you promise to keep each other on top of the schedule. If it all works out, the outcome is great in helping your hyperactivity!
~~~🐎~~~🐎~~~🐎~~~
~José Carioca~
~~~🚬~~~🚬~~~🚬~~~
~ José is not hyperactive himself. However, he does enjoy the company of people who are. He has many friends who are that way. And he has you, his partner. So while he may not struggle with what you have, he understands it pretty well.
~ He has almost no issues with your traits. He prefers people who can be ‘too much’ rather than people who can be ‘not enough’, if that makes sense. He always assures you that there’s no need to be embarrassed by your characteristics. It’s the way you are, and he loves you for it.
(name): “I need to get up and walk around for a bit. I feel like I’ve been sitting for too long.”
José: “Okay.”
(name): “Sorry…”
José: “Why? It’s not your fault.”
~ That being said, there are some traits that just aren’t good for you. Some examples being: trouble sleeping and focusing, and being impulsive. So José tries his best to help you with those.
~ One of the ways he does this is by making you a schedule. He’s heard that putting a hyperactive person on a schedule can help them out a lot. So that’s what he does. It’s not super strict at all. He just puts things that need to get done.
José: “Remember (name), you need to pick something up at the store soon.”
(name): “Oh yeah! Thanks!”
José: “No problem, Amor. And did you remember to email your coworker?”
Translation: Love
(name): “Yup!”
~ While José knows many things about hyperactive people, he still doesn’t know everything. So if he comes across some new information, he takes the time to make sure he truly understands it. He wants you to feel comfortable talking to him about your hyperactivity, even though he doesn’t have it.
~~~🚬~~~🚬~~~🚬~~~
Voyage Through the Disney Canon :1937-1949 ranking
These are the first 11 Disney animated films ,ranked from my least favorite to most favorite
11.Fun and Fancy Free -Ah Fun and Fancy Free,the favorite Disney film of nobody ,at least from what I have seen .I have never seen any one talk about this one positively and yeah I'm not gonna praise it either,this film is rather messy .I really dont like the first segment about Bongo the Bear,I actually think it is dreadful (THough Dinah Shore does some good narration ),Jiminey Cricket is a bit grating here ,and I like Edgar Bergen in general but wow is the wraparound segment with him unsettling especially if you dont know who he is .The Mickey and the Beanstalk segment is good but not to noteworthy aside from Bill Gilbert delivering a enjoyable performance as the giant and there is a scene where Donald becomes murderously insane ,thats fun
10.Saludos Amigos -This movie isnt bad,its just....Barely a film .Its only a bit over 40 minutes ,it feels more like EDutainment talking about South America .It fine for what it is and hey it gave us Jose Carioca
9.Melody Time -Its fine .I like the Blame it on the Samba segment and the Johnny Appleseed segment is sweet and definately the best part of the film,gets me misty eyed ,but every other segment is just.....OK to me
8.Three Caballeros -The much better companion film to Saludos Amigos,this film is weird and energetic ansd just fun,with the titular song being a highlight .
7.Dumbo:So of the 5 Capital C Classics(The first 5 films Disney made which are Snow White,Pinocchio,Fantasia ,Dumbo and Bambi ),I didnt know which ones would rank where.....But knew of the 5 Dumbo would be the lowest,which I feel bad about cuase...I really like Dumbo ,its a very nostalgic childhood favorite :Pink Elephants is a great sequence,the Baby Mine song brings a tear to my eye .heck the songs in general are good,Dumbo is a lovable protagonist and I love the performance of Edward Brophy as Timothy the mouse ,I think he is an underrated sidekick.It has a MAJOR problem with it and yes it is the racism ,like wow,not just the crow scene but the song "Happy Hearted Roustabouts" which is just...Yikes .However theres another reason it is not higher becuase it does its job too well.It was made to be a short simple movie,and it suceeds in being that ,but as such the other films I find more interesting .However let it be known I have a soft spot for Dumbo
6.Make Mine Music -This ia an underrated gem.I personally dont dig the more abstract segments but theres a lot of fun music and animation and I think the final segment the Whale That Wanted To Sing at the Met is a masterpiece with for me,the saddest moment in the Walt era
5.Fantasia -FAntasia is a movie I admire more then I like .Most of what I love is in the second half,I adore the Dance of the Hours and the Pastorial Sympathy and of course Night on Bald Mountain is MAGNIFICENT ,butwith the exception of the delightful Sorcerers Apprentice,the first half drags for me .I do like the movie ,finding it very artistically pleasing but I cant say its one of my personal favorite Disney films but can totally see why it is a favorite for many
4.Bambi -This is a contender for the best looking film of the Walt era,gorgeous backgrounds ,great character animation and its more of a vibe then a story .Its not for everyone....But Bambi is awesome to me,its kind of neat just watching this deer live his life .ITs really cute (Especially the stuff with Thumper the rabbit ),its gorgeous and has some solid emotional moments .I dont like the soundtrack but the rest of the film I really enjoy .
3.The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad -This is my favorite of the wartime/post war animated films cause its one I watched a bunch as a kid .No9w truthfully the first segment covering Wind In the Willows is just good.I like the performances of Eric Blore as Mr Toad and J PAt O Malley as Cyril ,theres some funny moments,Basil Rathbone is a good narrator ,but I prefer other takes on Wind in the Willows and I dont like how minimized Ratty and Mole are .....The second segment is a masterpiece,with great character animation,comedy,wonderful narration by Bing Crosby who also sings the banger that is the Headless Horseman song and yeah the Headless Horseman himself is a wonderfully scary villain with the chase scene between him and Ichabod Crane being one hell of a climax.
2.Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs -This film the more I see it the more I love it .Its funny cause I used to not like this movie but now I have fallen for its simplistic charm.It feels like no other Disney film ,like it is so unpolished cause they are trying to figure out how to make a feature and I finsd it endearing .Snow White is a character I do care about,the Queen is a simple yet imposing villain and By god when she becomes the Witch she is reallly creepy and rightfully has been nightmare fuel for many a child over the generations (Props to the voice work of Lucille LaVerne ).The scene stealers really are the Dwarfs ,especially Grumpy and Dopey who are played an animated well.Bit of a comfort movie for me ,so had to place it a bit high
1.Pinocchio-This is one of my favorite animated films of all time .It is sweet ,it is dramtic , and it can be really intense .The songs are all great (No Strings On Me might be my favorite ) .The character animation is great (I particularly love Bill Tytlas animation of Stromboli ) ,the climax is just a marvel of animation (Monstro the Whale is one hell of a feat of animation ),Pinocchio is a likeable protagonist,Honest John is a hilarious comedic villain who stands in contrast to the more terrifying villainay of Stromboli and the Coachman ,and Jiminy Cricket ,Geppetto,and Figaro are just lovable.I love lovve love love love love love this movie .
I had a Tumblr account with the same name before. It was fully dedicated as a fan blog of Castlevania. Many of the things that I had were some of my silly memes about Castlevania Netflix (most of them about Alucard).
I deleted the account because I was very inactive here and I felt a little bit limited by just post about Castlevania.
Sometimes I reblogged the nice drawings of friends that are here, sometimes I shared about ancient Egyptian history, but not so often.
After deleting the account, I didn't feel well about leave this place, so, I decided to create an account and start all over again.
I want to use this place to connect with people that enjoy the same things that I do.
So, I hope find again the cool friends who are still here, but at the same time, find new friends.
With the time, I'll be re-posting the material of Castlevania that I posted before, just in case there's someone interested.
For the last, I want to share some pictures of my favorite things.
Thanks for your attention.
JAMIL NEWS!!!
Jamil Viper was found at the streets of Pernambuco, enjoying the Carnaval and dancing frevo! In a exclusive interview, he said his favorite food is acarajé and coxinha
Jokes aside, I really like the idea of Scarabia duo, Octatrio and Savannaclaw enjoying Brazil! And I really like that Malleus would use something similar to that Hawaiian shirt he bought in the Yasmina silk event (I really don't know what that shirts name, I just know its the same as the Genie in the end of Aladdin). And I also love thinking about Jamil using traditional São João outfit (mano, ele com uma camisa xadrez vermelha e preta... Oh homem lindo).
I want to claim Jamil as Brazilian, but I can't-
Do you have any HCs like that?
And omg you opened comissions!!!! I'm so happy, even if I don't have money for it, IM STILL VERY HAPPY FOR U FOR A REASON I CAN'T EXPLAIN, I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY!
Beijitos!
- The BR Jamil Simp Anon
First of all, you're so sweet, thank you 😫 and second ANON LEMME TELL YOU SOMETHING YOU'RE MAKING MY BRAIN GO NUTS CAUSE I WANNA DRAW ALL OF THAT, AS A GOOD BRAZILIAN ARTIST WOULD! Also hello Jamil bbygirl what are you doing here in Brazil haha twirls hair twirls hair
Omg I'm thinking on the spot rn of some good br headcanons, and I completely agree with you, out of all the dorms, Scarabia, Octavinelle and Savanaclaw would definitely vibe the most in Brazil. Hold on lemme breath in before I shove all my hcs into this post hold on. Eng speaking mutuals and followers I will hold yall hostage to listen to my insane rambles ok here we go
First and foremost, I just know Ruggie is brazilian 100%, and I think we can all agree to that, he's our boy 🙌 he would absolutely drag Leona and Jack around, getting them to try a little bit of everything whenever they get the chance. The hyena boy would pile a bunch of stuff on Jack's arms saying "You HAVE to try this snack- wait have some caldo de cana too... OH you can't forget this piece of candy-" and last thing you know Jack is just buried under pounds of little treats and trinkets.
I personally visited very little States here, but at least around São Paulo and Rio, one of my favorite things to do is to browse those classic, super pretty handmade jewelry they sell on the beach, decorated with crystals and stones, and I just want to get them all even though I might not even use half of the stuff I buy. But anyways, Leona doing that. Leona getting tererê de cabelo to go with the braids. He's gonna spend so much money with clothes and accessories and he's gonna look stunning doing it.
Btw btw I'm obsessed with a store called Atame (@/voudeatame on ig) they have the most brazilian jewelry and clothes ever and the designs are gorge, I should draw Leona wearing something inspired by that someday 😭
Bro if there's anything we all learn in major tourist spots is that you gotta be smart with prices and everything, keep an eye out to not get scammed, unfortunately... But you know what, Octavinelle is just chill with that. You think anyone can scam AZUL? That's impossible. Anyone tries anything with the octatrio, the person is just gonna get scammed back. Jokes aside, I picture Floyd wearing the good ol havaianas, shorts, and maybe #those glasses wherever he goes, Jade might even go along with it every now and then, why not.
This randomly reminds me of Ace cause his casual outfits definitely exclusively consist of that + a random football team shirt. I couldn't care less about football but listen. Corinthians. Simply cause he's annoying and that would be very in character of him (É MEMES, NAO ME MATEM CORINTHIANOS)
Have you ever noticed how Trey looks like the twst version of Zé Carioca. Let that sink in.
Thinking about Malleus, don't you think he would love to visit historical towns and monuments? There's so much history in our architecture, he'd find most fascinating I'm sure.
I just know Jamil and Kalim would absolutely own the dance floor in carnaval, like. No dobts about that. Kalim specially, would love to participate in any bloquinhos de carnaval if he could. Sounds exhausting for me to even be amongst a single one, but okay Kalim, get it I guess 💃 Scarabia and Brazil we share vibes!!!!!
You mentioned the São João fit, and I also thought of Epel, that boy invented Festa Junina, fr. He throws biribinha/estalinhos everywhere to piss off Vil. Also Jamil oh homem perfeito c é doido, n é possível uma coisa dessas.
São João stalls under the management of Octavinelle and it's hell on earth
Sam would open a famous lojinha de 1,99 for sure, I will not elaborate. Oh also whenever I stumble upon frog shaped reco-reco I think of him, I think he would sell them idk idk
Ruggie will show Kalim those brown colored glass plate sets every grandma got in their houses, and tell him they are indestructible.
"Jamil, Jamil! Check this out! Ruggie says these plates NEVER break! Oh we need to have them in Scarabia, pleeaseee!"
"What do you mean they never break? No, Kalim don't-"
Kalim throws it to the floor, it immediately shatters in a million pieces. "I think it hit a weird angle, that must be it."
Idia = alanzoka
Me @ Jamil:
#have a happy carnaval#im not even gonna go to parties just watch the pretty stuff on tv and stay inside 💃#the BR Jamil simp anon#twst br
Happy Monday Funday! ☀
(ˉ▽ ̄~) I had actually never heard of the Three Caballeros, so learning about that was actually quite interesting. I'll try to find a way to watch that soon. I can see why it may have been offensive, so many disney movies from back in the day were...rough. It's cute though that José Carioca has his own lore, comics, and own entourage.
I'm doing ok, thanks for asking, summer is both nice and relaxing and yet actually exhausting. (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) Luckily, though I get to swim which I'm really happy about that! Blub blub and whatnot!🪽
Happy what-is-now Tuesday, darling!
That's so surprising to me! But I am glad it was at least somewhat interesting, and I do hope you enjoy it if you ever get a chance to watch it. It's very fun and cute, even if it is a bit dated. And you're absolutely spot on about Disney movies back then being rough, to say the least. Which is a shame considering those had some of the most gorgeous art styles, right? I think they should bring back some of that hand-drawn, 2D style of animation. Especially after whatever the hell they did to the live action Lion King, which was....yikes el em ay oh.
This stupid green bird is so nostalgic to me, it's hard not to love him 🥰 I'm almost jealous you get to experience it for a first time! You're definitely in for a really lovely treat.
Good to hear you're doing well! I hope your exhaustion is at least a good exhaustion and not a bad one, though! Have you had anything big planned apart from swimming??
#thank you for sending in another ask!!! they always make me smile!!#and i saw you made quite a stir lately. everyone wants to know who you are. i think what youre doing is so sweet#its been nice seeing everyone get excited over your asks. youve become a bit of a celebrity it looks like 😉#i love looking forward to your asks so thank you for sending in another one. pardon my rambles i know i can get sidetracked easily#until next time darling <3#asks#🪽 anon
My Headcanons for My Main Pokémon in Unbound:
Anino (Garchomp)
considering that she was rescued as a gible and is my starter, she is the most clingy.
with that, she finds the warehouses of the shadows to be a bit traumatic. especially with my headcanon that the gible line (along with the lavitar and beldum line) in particular were specifically captured for the experiments of cube corp and the science society.
enjoys playing in sand a lot in particular, like even for a land shark she likes it a bit excessively.
in general, being under the shadows kinda stunted her social skills a bit to which she's a bit detached from the others but it's getting better.
Pupuri (Roserade)
happy-go-lucky type. the most carefree. which is like the total opposite of what a roserade is imagined to be.
probably so carefree to a point of being impulsive and just running headfirst into things.
upon first having him, the pc didnt know about him being poisonous on contact due to wearing gloves all the time so when seeing it work in battle they were like, "huh. good to know."
Topher (Torkoal)
idk he probably has the least demons and vices out of the bunch. he just chillin. just a tortoise sunbathing 24/7.
like he literally just sits in a sunny spot for long periods of time and if you ever come up to him, he retreats into his shell until you leave him alone.
as result, he's very mysterious.
Divino (Azumarill)
very much a by-the-book type of personality. very particular about following instructions perfectly.
probably has a whole superiority complex around his ability to be disciplined.
more of the type of personality to be angry than to be sad, and more likely to fight than flee.
Bulan (Aggron)
gentle giant, very very shy. (a lot of my pokemon i think are shy idk)
the kind of pokemon that is scared of not doing well in battle only for there to barely be a stratch on them in the end.
probably not fully aware of how powerful and intimidating they actually are. im talking about unintentionally scaring children and being concerned about having been mean.
Carioca (Swoobat)
she struggled the most in training being the latest member and having to catch up to her peers.
she was very patient about it though and tried not to complain.
generally good attitude and work ethic. along with training, she had to learn how to fly all over borrius soon after leaving the cave she was brought up in.
honestly the only normal one. she really entered a group of weirdos but she's working with it.
I Saw Uncle Under the Mistletoe
During the holiday celebration, José and Panchito arrive to the McDuck manor as a surprise to Donald. During their visit, the kids come across their uncle being more than a little friendly with the other two birds. Now the holidays have become a little more stressful when the triplets believe the person that's cared for them their entire lives is going to leave them behind.
Fandom: Ducktales (2017), The Three Caballeros. Rating: General Audience Relationships/Pairings: José Carioca/Donald Duck/Panchito Pistoles Other Tags: Secrete Relationship, Misunderstandings, Angest with a Happy Ending, Christmas Themed, Use of Google Translate, Long One Shot.
It was a small request for the holiday season. But there was a hope that this year would be somewhat quiet for the McDuck/Duck family. Sure, there was still the annual ‘Set up the traps to keep Santa away’ day. It was more of the thought of not having to deal with evil plans or ne'er-do-wells that would rain terror down on them. No on breaking down their door. No one trying to steal from the McDuck fortune. No one being kidnapped and held for ransom.
So, it was a bit worrisome when a large box, wrapped in shiny red wrapping paper with a white bow resting on top suddenly appeared in the foyer. The only person who seemed unconcerned with this was Scrooge. Which, at the moment, no one could really tell if that was a good or a bad thing. It wasn’t going to be a surprise created by some enemy, which was the original worry. But there was a curious thought as to what could be inside and what Scrooge could possibly be planning.
“Are we...going to approach it?” Louie asked, trying to sound casual as he eyed his great-uncle.
“It might be best if we look for a tag.” Scrooge helpfully suggested.
Dewey instantly sprang into action. With a call of “I’m on it!” he was scrambling around the wrapped box. The necessary discovery made at the very top. “It says it’s for Uncle Donald! Oh, and that he needs to open it immediately.”
Said duck was confused by this. Going over in his head what he could have possibly bought recently to need this kind of fanfare. Or even what else someone could have bought for him. Apparently Dewey wasn’t going to wait for his uncle’s confusion to take up further time. The duckling pulled Donald forward, the older unable to do more than to unwrap the large present.
There was a collective outcry of surprise when the present bursted open. Two familiar birds jumping out and tackling Donald onto the polished floor.
“José? Panchito?” Donald voiced in absolute shock.
“¡Hola amigo!” The red rooster beamed pulling the baffled duck into a tight hug.
“What- but how?”
José could only chuckle, placing a hand on Donald’s shoulder, “Blame your uncle. He arranged all of this.”
“Merely an early Christmas present,” Scrooge quickly intervened, “I know how much you’ve missed them. So, they’re my- ah, your guests until the new year. As long as they stay in line.”
Neither José or Panchito were worried about the soul crushing glare the multi-millionaire duck was given them. The green parrot even letting out another chuckle as he greeted Scrooge properly. “It is wonderful to see you again Senhor Scrooge.”
“You really paid to fly two people to Duckberg? Two people from two different parts of the world.” Louie casually commented to Scrooge as both watched Donald be pulled up from the floor and pulled into a proper group hug.
“Don’t be daft. I had Launchpad pick them up.” Scrooge scoffed, ruffling the top of the duckling’s head.
The triplets were not quite sure what they thought of the flashy birds. After all, the last time they were in their lives, they were liars and were talking about taking Donald away. So the ducklings were cautious around José and Panchito. Even with each bird making their personality known and clearly trying to no longer be strangers in the younger’s lives.
José was the calmest of the two, that was for sure. More than not, you could find him sleeping the day away in different parts of the mansion. Mainly in areas that had the sun beating down. Huey was a little shocked to find the green parrot bundled up one afternoon and resting poolside. José only seemed ‘awake’ in the evening and into the night. Pulling whomever was near into a quick dance, which Dewey happily participated in, until dinner was ready. Then he would happily regale stories of his travels and the numerous people he’d met along the way. Webby taking full advantage of this and asking as many questions as she could.
Panchito was...loud. And overly energetic. He was up before anyone else and was the last to settle down for the evening. He seemed to sing wherever he went, no matter what activity he was doing. It would be accompanied with some random song that just popped into his head. It was rare to see him sitting still, which didn’t happen until dinner was ready to eat and he seemed to finally relax. The triplets also learned that the rooster was one for physical affection. Louie swears his back had broken and was then put back together after two different morning hugs he’d received from Panchito.
Both birds seemed okay, but the triplets were still reserved about the entire situation. Even if Webby was chattering about how great they were. But, despite their reserve, it was clear their uncle was thrilled to have his friends there. Constantly smiling, constantly laughing, tossing stories around as easily as the other two.
Seeing this caused Huey to worry. Which he voiced one evening before dinner to the small group.
“Do you think Uncle Donald regrets taking us in?”
“What?” Dewey sat up quickly. Almost banging his head on the bunk bed above him. His eyes narrowed on Huey, who winced. “Why in the world would you say that?”
“Because he’s so happy right now.”
“We’ve seen him happy before.” Louie casually argued back.
“But not like this. He’s been happy for us. I’ve never seen him happy for himself.”
“Okay, so, why are you blaming us for this?”
“Because when he took us in, he pushed everyone away. Even close friends. So maybe...if he hadn’t taken us…”
“He would be happier?” The duckling dressed in green voiced weakly. Now looking as worried as Huey.
Dewey let out a snort, however, and waved his hand. “Okay, before we panic too much over this, why don’t we just ask Uncle Donald. Easy solution.”
“He’s just going to lie,” Huey argued, “He’s going to do everything he can to keep us happy.”
“Well it’s a better idea than just moping around about it. If you’re both so worried, I’ll go ask.”
“I’ll come!’ Webby bounced up, “I’ve been meaning to test my ‘lie detecting’ skills.”
“Perfect. Sit tight you two. We’ll be back with information.” Dewey took Webby’s wrist and they raced from the room.
They already knew that they should start with the kitchen first. Panchito and Mrs. Beakley had agreed to trade off on evening cooking duty while the rooster was visiting. Panchito saying he wanted to share his family favorites with his growing family. Mrs. Beakley happily passed those nights over, enjoying her evenings off as an early gift to herself.
This was Panchito’s evening, so there was a chance that Donald was with him. And in fact, he was. Both ducklings paused to peek around the corner. Peering into the kitchen from the hallway doorway.
Panchito was moving around the kitchen at ease. The stove on full force as he worked on the large meal. Donald was sitting on the nearby countertop, his legs slowly swaying as he watched on. They were talking quietly. Dewey eventually realized they were speaking Spanish.
“I didn’t know Uncle Donald could speak Spanish… Weird. Oh well, let’s go talk to him.” The duckling in blue was quickly pulled back into place by Webby. Dewey released a choked quack as it happened.
“Hey-”
“Shush.”
“But-”
“Shush! I’m listening.”
“You know Spanish?”
“Yes, now hush.”
Dewey huffed but kept quiet and watched. He wasn’t sure what Webby was waiting for. They just seemed to be chatting about random things. Like what he and his brothers did when Donald would cook on the boathouse. Except it was just old friends catching up, so nothing that should keep Webby’s interest like this. He was about to complain once more when Panchito turned to face his solo audience. Boldly stating something that caused Donald to turn red and Webby to gasp softly.
“What happened?” Dewey asked. All he got in response was a pat on his face and another “Shush!”.
His argument died on his throat when Donald, still flushed, pushed at the rooster’s lower back with a foot. Panchito, in turn, grabbed the extended ankle. Easily pulling at it to bring Donald right to the edge of the counter and stepping between the duck’s legs with a raised brow. Hands resting on Donald’s hips and bending forward. Donald, on his part, took it all with ease. A smirk on his own bill as he draped his arms over the rooster’s shoulders. There was a small mutter of something. Nothing that either duckling was able to catch but could tell it wasn’t malicious. It was almost (Dewey panicked slightly) loving. But, whatever was said, was enough to fluster Donald once more before he pulled Panchito into a kiss.
Dewey’s mouth dropped in absolute shock. Webby had to clamp her bill shut to keep the squeal of absolute joy from escaping. But she did let out a small noise as she was forcefully pulled away. Dewey leading the way back to the bedroom. Eyes wide and frantic.
“Whoa, what happened?”
Dewey jumped at Huey’s voice, not realizing they had arrived back. His mouth opened and loaded a few times. But nothing came out. He was still in too much shock to properly explain what happened.
“Dude, just spit it out.” Louis huffed.
“Your uncle and Panchito are secret lovers!” Webby answered, ending with a small scream of glee.
“What!” Huey exclaimed, Louie dropping out of his bed and onto the floor in shock.
“They’re...in the kitchen,” Dewey voiced weakly, “and they just…”
He created ‘mouths’ with his hands to press them together. Huey and Louie both let out small noises of distress.
“You can’t be serious.” The duckling clad in red voiced weakly.
“I just saw it happen! It’s burned into my retinas and my memory. I wouldn’t make this up.”
“Wait, wait,” Louis recovered, “Was this just a recent development?”
“I mean, based on everyone’s reactions, I would say no one else knew.”
“No! I mean, did they just start ‘dating’ or have they always been in a relationship? And if they have been together all this time, why would Uncle Donald hide something like this from us?”
“We could just ask him?” Webby offered.
Dewey shook his head. “I’m not going to back down until the food is ready and I can focus on that.”
“Plus, if this is a secret relationship, calling it out could be damaging. We know Uncle Scrooge isn’t...too wild about them. He might not like Uncle Donald dating. We’ll need to talk to Uncle Donald alone some time.”
“Which won’t be happening anytime soon,” Louie huffed, “He’s always with those two until he goes to bed.”
Webby shuffled her foot nervously before she quietly added. “Unless Panchito shares the bed.”
The outburst of disgust was almost defining.
As the days passed, the four were still unable to figure out how they were going to approach Donald. It was getting closer to Christmas and there were still a multitude of tasks to accomplish. Baking, shopping, wrapping, decorating, setting traps; the kids were too exhausted at the end of the day to worry about anything else. That doesn’t mean the issue ever really left their mind.
It was in the middle of a decorating day when the next surprise was dropped.
Huey and Louie were traveling through the one of the last few undecorated hallways. The duckling in red going down a list of the remaining decorations. Discussing, more to himself as Louie was barely paying attention, about what should go where and why. Eventually reaching the dead end, Louie leaned against the wall as he continued to slowly nurse a can of Pep. Lazily watching as Huey wrote down a few more notes.
“So, that’s the tentative plan,” Huey concluded as he closed the guidebook with a snap, “What do you think?”
“Yep, sounds good.”
“...Were you even paying attention.”
“Oh sure.”
Huey glared at Louie, who only smiled innocently back. “Well, no matter. We can start setting up when Uncle Donald and José get here.”
“They are taking their sweet time.” Louie grumbled.
“Do you think something happened?”
“Don’t stress, we would have heard something.” As if on cue, there was a loud ‘thump!’. Which was followed by a loud and familiar quack that was undoubtedly their uncle. “There they are.”
“Let’s go see if they need help.” Huey ignored the small noise of complaint that Louie gave as he rushed by.
He was about to turn the corner to confront the new arrivals. But faltered hearing an accented voice softly say, “You need to be careful meu amor.”
That caught his attention.
Huey instantly pressed himself against the well. Pulling Louie close and covering his bill before he could let out a noise of surprise. His glare didn’t deter Huey, who merely replied with a shake of his head and a pointed look to the corner.
After an understanding to remain quiet, they peered around cautiously. They found Donald leaning against the wall, holding his no doubt injured foot to check it over for any damage. José was running his thumb over the slowly reddening area. The boxes of decorations laying nearby.
“I really wish Scrooge would move that Grandfather Clock,” Donald grumbled, “It’s too close to the corner.”
“Or you could remember that it is there and not hit it.” José offered with a smile.
“Hush. You’re not the one with the throbbing foot.”
“Oh, pobrezinho. Would a kiss make it better?”
Donald merely rolled his eyes, but didn’t resist as he was pulled close. Both duckling’s mouths dropped as the adults shared a kiss. One that went on longer than either Huey or Louie were comfortable with.
“Wait, wait,” Donald laughed softly as José moved to nip at his neck, “The kids are nearby.”
“Is your foot feeling better?”
“If I say yes, will you let me go?”
José sighed dramatically. “If I must.”
“You must. Let’s get the boxes delivered before the kids start to worry.”
Huey began to panic. Knowing he and Louie couldn’t just abandon the hallway without a good reason and they couldn’t flee fast enough. But he really didn’t want to face his uncle after that. He also really wanted to talk to Dewey and Webby about what happened because this was getting crazy!
Huey turned to whisper frantically to Louie, with a plea for help.
Only to be sucker punched in the gut by the youngest triplet.
It wasn’t a hard enough hit for Huey to blackout. But he doubled over in pain, having difficult breathing as Louie gave him support on his weak knees. The duckling in red let out a weak groan of pain just as Donald and José entered the hallway.
Rightly so, Donald panicked. “Huey? What happened?”
“Oh gee Uncle Donald, I think Huey has a little stomach ache. I think all this Christmas excitement is a bit overwhelming. I was going to take him back to our room to rest.” Louie laid it on thick, making sure to wrap one of Huey’s arms around his shoulders.
José frowned, placing his box down quickly. “Do you want some help? I can carry him.”
“No, no, you two carry on with the merriment. I can get Huey to bed easily. Don’t you worry.” Louie didn’t drop the act until they were a few hallways away. He leaned his brother against the wall, the older triplet glaring at him. Huey holding his stomach in some way of comfort.
“You...couldn’t...have warned me?”
“I panicked. Now hurry up and catch your breath so we can report back to the others.”
“So, wait, is Uncle Donald dating both?” Dewey asked weakly.
“Apparently? It’s the only explanation I can think of for why José was so...lovey dovey.” Louie choked out with Huey letting out an agreement groan from his bed. Dewey was not showing the same discomfort. In fact, he looked more frantically worried than anything.
“Is he...cheating-”
“Whoa, whoa, let’s take a step back,” Webby instantly took control over the situation. The triplets now held the same level of concern from the single word Dewey almost uttered. “Now, I’m one to always offer ‘the sneak way’ to find information. But that’s normally used against the enemy. This is your uncle. Why don’t we just go talk to him?”
Huey and Dewey looked nervous about the possible confrontation. Louie, however, stood up, appearing angry and agitated.
“You know, I want to talk to those two. We know next to nothing about them. Maybe they’re playing some game with Uncle Donald.”
Webby frowned. “Do you really think that...low of them?”
“I don’t know what to think of them because I don’t know them! But we know Uncle Donald and he wouldn’t pull this kind of stunt. Those two however…” Louie didn’t finish that sentence. Instead, he stuffs his hands into his hoodie pocket and stomped his way towards the door.
The other three had no choice but to quickly follow after. They made their way down to the backyard pool. Knowing the green parrot, he was out by the poolside soaking up some sunlight. Even with snow laying on the ground, the cold didn’t really seem to bother José.
Louie was first out the back door and marched his way over to where the parrot was currently resting. Only to falter when the boathouse opened and Panchito stepped out. The rooster shivering from the cold, even with a heavy coat on. Louie was quickly pulled into the bushes by Webby. Huey and Dewey already hiding back there.
“How can you just lay out in the cold? ¡Está helando!” Panchito exclaimed.
José barely cracked open an eye to regard the shivering bird. “I have been to colder areas. This is actually rather mild.”
“Pavonearse.”
“Is Donald still tinkering away at the heater?”
“Si. I had to get out of the way or else I would have become an unfortunate victim.”
“No heater and you are standing in such freezing temperatures? Venha aqui, let me warm you up.” José opened his arms and they were quickly filled with a shivering rooster. The parrot merely laughed, gently preening the red feathers he could reach. “If you are so cold, why don’t you just go into the mansion?”
“Because being in there alone is so unwelcoming.”
“...Scrooge invited us.”
“I know.”
“But years of animosity does not just go away.”
“...Si.” Panchito let out a small noise as he was moved to sit up. But he didn’t complain when José kissed him softly.
“It will be fine… We will be fine. And soon we will not have to worry about leaving Donald ever again.” José laughed as Panchito’s mood instantly rose.
“Do you think the papers will arrive on time?”
“Oh, I doubt it. But we will just think of it as a late present.”
Both fell quiet when the boathouse door opened once more, Donald walking out. Wearing an old, plain white shirt that was stained from numerous years of use. Spots of oil could be seen clumping his feathers.
“It’s fixed,” Donald announced, “It’ll be a bit until the entire boat is warm again. But it’s going to be better than out here.”
Panchito let out a cheer and raced up the ramp, pulling the duck into a quick kiss. “You know where to find me!”
And down into the boat the rooster went.
José quietly strolled up the same ramp, clearly in no hurry to leave the sun. “Have I ever told you I am quite enamored with the working man?”
“Every time I fix something.” Donald rolled his eyes, but his feathers ruffled in embarrassment.
“Then you know it is true.”
“Would you just get in here. I need to shower before my feathers are stained black.”
“Would you like to save on water?”
“Just get in!”
José was not offended by the sudden outburst as Donald’s feathers puffed out further. The parrot claimed his own kiss before he entered the boat, pullin the flustered duck in as well.
As soon as the area was clear, Louie quickly stood. Heading back into the mansion. Not looking back to see if the rest were following. Huey was up next, not bothered when Dewey quickly reached out and grabbed his hand. Both pressing close as they followed the younger triplet. Webby brought up the rear. Realizing something was weighing heavily over them, but not fully sure for what reason.
“So...we know no one’s cheating on anyone.” She offered weakly, giving a small smile. Which slipped away when she didn’t receive a reply. “Guys?”
“He’s still lying to us.” Louie muttered darkly. He’d taken residents on the window seat, hood up and curled in on himself.
“Why didn’t Uncle Donald tell us?” Dewey asked weakly. He and Huey had claimed the lowest bunk, clinging to each other.
“Maybe to not hurt us,” Huey offered, “Maybe he had to break it off when he took us in. He couldn’t raise three kids and maintain a long distance relationship.”
“So it’s our fault.” Louie snapped.
“Hang on guys. You’re still just jumping to wild conclusions,” Webby interjected, “He loves you guys. He wanted to take you in.”
“Do we know that? Every story we’ve heard, it was a sudden reaction. He just took us. Maybe it was his way to improperly grieve.” Huey argued back.
“Maybe he just took us in so he could be close to mom in some way.” added Dewey.
“You don’t know that. Come on, we’re going back down there to talk to Donald. Let’s go do that.” Webby waved her hand, a gesture for the trio to follow.
“Are they going to take Uncle Donald away?” Dewey asked.
Huey swallowed weakly. “That’s what it sounds like.”
“What a perfect Christmas present,” Louie huffed, “Gets to run off with his lovers while he leaves the troublesome nephews. How romantic.”
Dewey let out a small whimper, hiding himself away in his older brother. That seemed to snap Louie out of the fog he was in and he rushed over to the bed. Quickly clamoring up and joining in the small huddle. Webby could only watch. Frozen in spot as her mind raced with how she was supposed to help.
Donald was close to having an episode. Because something was wrong with his boys and he had no idea what it was. He’d been so focused on José and Panchito he hadn’t really given time to his own kids. Now it was a spiraling descent of feeling guilty for his actions, but knowing he had a right to be with his own boyfriends.
“I know that look.”
Donald looked up from the well worn table as José and Panchito slid in on either side of him. “What do you mean?”
“It may have been a few years. But that is a look of forlorn. One you have when you have started berating yourself.” José continued.
“What’s wrong mi amor?” Panchito asked, cutting right to the chase.
Donald huffed, ruffling his feathers. “The kids have been acting...strange, and I can’t figure out why. Now I’m worried I haven’t been paying attention to a problem that shouldn’t be one. And the boys won’t talk to me. They just hover nearby and run when I get too close.”
“José and I could talk to them?”
The green parrot frowned. “Except they have been avoiding us as well. I am afraid we are not going to be much help.”
“What about la niña pequeña, Webby? We could ask her?” The rooster offered.
“I have barely seen her as of late as well.”
“Uh...Scrooge and Beakley?”
“Trust me, if they knew, they would have already ‘talked’ to me about it.” Donald grumbled.
José pulled the duck closer, smiling softly as he eagerly shuffled closer. “It is Christmas, we are all a little stressed. Let us just get past all of this craziness. Then we will sit down with the kids and talk.”
Donald really hated that was their best plan. But he also knew there was very little else they could do.
Christmas day arrived with rather subdued fanfare. The kids were clearly excited to finally open the pile of presents that were under the large pine tree. But Donald was also aware of the numerous, nervous glaces thrown his way. Some rather hard ones given out when José or Panchito was nearby. It was worrisome to think the kids were angry with his lovers. Granted, secret lovers, but the point still remained.
...Did they find out and silently didn’t approve? If this was true, why wouldn’t they just talk to him? He could explain, he could talk to them and hopefully ease their worries.
Donald jumped back to reality feeling a hand placed on his shoulder. He looked up to find Panchito giving him a worried look. He attempted to smile back, but it was clear it wasn’t comforting.
The pile of presents slowly depleted throughout the morning. Donald’s nerves soothed slightly hearing the triplet’s calls of glee with each new gift they unwrapped. Even seeming content with what José and Panchito had given them.
He raised a brow when Scrooge walked over to the couch he, José, and Panchito were sitting on. The older duck cleared his throat, gaining the attention of the other two before holding out an envelope for each.
“Happy Christmas.”
Donald watched as the two birds took an envelope, opening it cautiously. Panchito was the first to fully open his, pulling out a piece of paper and reading it over quickly. He let out such a yell of absolute joy that Donald was worried it would shatter the nearby windows. The rooster leapt up and pulled Scrooge into a tight hug just as José read over his own paper. The parrot’s beak dropped in surprise, wide eyes traveling to Donald as he passed the paper over.
Curious, Donald accepted it. As his eyes traveled down, his own excitement grew, a wide smile breaking out. “...You’re both…”
“We are officially legal!” Panchito cheered, finally releasing Scrooge. Who subtly rubbed his lower back when the rooster turned away. “We are now citizens!”
“We were not expecting these papers so soon.” José mumbled weakly.
Scrooge gave a small chuckle, giving a knowing smirk when all eyes were back on him. “You can get things moving fairly quickly when you have enough money.”
He winced as Panchito pulled him into another quick, but still bone crushing hug. “There is not enough thanks in the world!”
Donald could only laugh as he and José were pulled off the couch by the rooster. “We can stay, we can finally be close to each other. We can buy a home and-”
The joyous moment was quickly cut short when a loud ‘thud’ interrupted the event. Louie had stood, the present given to him by the two colorful birds had been tossed to the side. Donald would have berated the duckling, if he wasn’t stunned by the look on the triplet’s face.
Anger.
Absolute anger.
Before anyone could speak, Louie left the room, hood flipped up and hand shoved into his pocket. Shoulders up to make himself small as he stormed away.
Shockingly, José followed.
Confused and hoping for some answers, Donald turned to the remaining two. Only for Dewey to rush out next. With hands pressed to his beak and (Donal’s heart jolted) tears threatening to spill out. Panchito followed the duckling close behind. That left Huey with Donald. The duckling, the smallest Donald had ever seen him. No one commented as Donald picked Huey up and carried him out of the room.
Louie was fast when he wanted to be. José was thankful that the duckling was heavy footed. Because there was no other way he would have found the duckling in this maze of a building. Louie had taken up residents by a large window, far away from everyone else. Hood still up and knees pulled close, glaring at the outside estate. José approached cautiously, clearing his throat to announce his arrival. The duckling didn’t move.
“May I join you?”
There was still no reply. José didn’t mind, taking a seat and turning so he could view the outside world as well. “I will admit, I never thought I would be one for snow. I grew up in such warm climates. I believed when I experienced sheer cold, I would hate it. But, when I gave it a chance, I found it to be wondrous. True I do have to bundle up in order to enjoy it. It is still such a thrill to see though.”
“I’m not accepting you.” Louie replied shortly.
“But you have not even gotten to know me. It is unfair for you to jump so quickly to such a conclusion.”
“Well, you never got to know me. You spent all your time with Uncle Donald.”
José let out a slow sigh and nods. “That is true. And I hope you will understand why. I have not seen your uncle in such a long time. At least in a way that I have had so much time to spend with him. Not just a day or a few hours. It has been wonderful...and I may have gotten a little carried away at keeping your uncle’s attention.”
“Because you’re dating.” Louie stated, staring the parrot down.
José blinked in surprise, but did not dispute it. “Yes we...we were.”
“Were? My brothers and I have seen you and the rooster hanging off of Uncle Donald! You are dating.”
“Were. We broke it off a short time after you three were hatched. Your uncle wanted to focus on you and we were unable to stay.”
“And now you can. Now you’re legally able to. Now you can take Uncle Donald away from us.”
“Ai meu deus, Louie. Where did you get that idea?”
“Just now! With Panchito saying ‘we’ and how you all were going to buy a house!”
“I… the ‘we’ was Panchito and I. We would only ask Donald to move in if all four of you would have agreed.”
That caused Louie’s glare to soften. “...Four?”
“We, that being Panchito and I, would love to have all of you live with us. I am sorry to make you and your brothers think we would not welcome you properly into our lives. I suppose a proper start would be necessary.”
José cleared his throat and held out a hand, one that Louie gingerly took. “Hello Louie. I am José Carioca, an old relation to your Uncle Donald. It is wonderful to see you.”
“...Louie Duck. Nephew of Donald Duck...and CEO of Louie Inc.”
The parrot laughed jovially at that. “So young and already a businessman. Tell me Louie, have you been to Bahia?”
“I don’t think so.”
“Well, if you have time, allow me to regale you a few tales.”
“Dewey! Dewey, please stop!” Panchito grumbled when the duckling sped up instead. Mentally berating himself knowing that wouldn’t have worked. The rooster picked up his own speed when Dewey darted into the triplet’s bedroom. Just fast enough to stop the door from closing with his foot. He only entered when he heard Dewey settle down on a bed.
Letting out a slow breath, Panchito walked in. He cautiously stepped over the chaotic mess as he approached the beds. Dewey was lying on the second bed, covered by the blue blanket, small sniffs heard from within. Slowly climbing up the bedside ladder, Panchito leaned over and rested his upper body on the bed proper.
“You are a speedy little guy. Kind of shocked I was able to keep up.” Panchito laughed softly. He frowned when Dewey didn’t reply.
“...I know the want to just run away from your troubles. I have a big, big family. Seems like the only way to avoid fights was to run away. Run far and fast. So that is what I did. When I could not just smile any longer, I would run.”
He fell quiet when Dewey shuffled, the lump under the blanket moving closer to the rooster. Panchito smiled gently as the duckling’s face appeared. Eyes red with the feathers around them damp. “Hola.”
“...Hi…”
“Why did you run?”
Dewey didn’t reply. He instead sat up and asked his own question. “Is that what you did when we hatched and Uncle Donald started to raise us? That we were a problem you didn’t want, so you ran?”
“What? No, no niño, no. José and I weren’t able to stay. We were young, had no income, no way to get citizenship. We really, truly wanted to stay… But even your Uncle Donald knew how impossible it would be for us.”
“So you broke up?”
Panchito coughed weakly, suddenly feeling flustered. “I, well, w-why would you say that?”
“We’ve seen you, José, and Uncle Donald together.”
“Ah...suppose we were not that sneaky. But, yes, we did break up. We did not want to...but our options were low or impossible to get.”
Taking a bit of a risk, Panchito reached out to gently dry off the damp feathers. Dewey didn’t protest. He even smiled weakly, shoulders relaxing.
“I fell in love with you three the moment you hatched. And I know José feels the same. You had such big eyes and were covered with fluffy, yellow feathers. Oh, dios mío you boys were so adorable. I am sure my heart burst with happiness.”
“Really?”
“Of course. I wanted to hold you all and never let go. And you clung to me, you would giggle and I would just melt every time.”
Dewey laughed weakly at that. He inched closer until he could wrap his arms around Panchito. The rooster instantly pulled the duckling closer, beaming.
“I am not running away. Not now, not ever.”
Donald knew when Huey was upset, he needed to let the duckling lead. Don’t question, don’t prod, don’t poke. When Huey wanted to talk, he would talk. So Donald waited, holding the duckling’s hands and gently running his thumbs along the back of them. Huey was staring at the ground. The quiet was broken when a small sniff or hiccup escaped him. Other than that, it was silent between them.
It remained this way for a few minutes until Huey weakly squeezed Donald’s hands. A non-verbal indication that he had calmed and was ready to talk. Even then, it took awhile for Huey to find his voice.
“I’m sorry.”
Donald shook his head. “You have nothing to be sorry for. I don’t even know what’s wrong.”
“We know you, José, and Panchito are...together. In a relationship.”
“Okay. Well, I suppose that’s something I should be apologizing for. I was going to tell you three. Should have done that a lot sooner. But you don’t need to apologize for finding out.”
Huey shook his head but didn’t say anything. Donald was at a complete loss.
“Huey...I can’t help you if I don’t know what the issue is.”
“Do you hate us?”
He felt as if he had been punched in the gut. It took a few seconds for Donald to compose himself before he could speak again. “No, why would you think that?”
“You love them, but you never mention them. Never talk about them. You had to give up your life with the people you love because we… Because we were dumped into your lap. You didn’t get a choice and you had to give up so much. Because of us. How could you not hate us?”
“Huey, Huey, I need you to slow your breathing.” Donald quickly took back control, hand slowly rising and falling for Huey to follow. He waited for the duckling to calm again before asking, “Do you want me to take your hands again?”
That was answered with a short nod and Donald complied. “Now I want to make something perfectly clear. I am, in no way in any shape of form, angry at you or your brothers. You weren’t dumped into my lap. I willingly took you in and I don’t regret it at all. I loved raising you three and I love you three now.”
“But...you left them.”
“Because they couldn’t stay here. And I didn’t want them to feel as if they had to put a pause on their lives for me. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if they had spent years trying to return here to live here. We were wild when we were younger, them more so than I. They would never admit it, but it would have driven them crazy if they had to stay here. I wanted them to experience the world they had always talked about. To experience what I had when I was growing with Uncle Scrooge.”
“How come you never talked about them?”
“I’m not sure. If I really think about it, I think I would have broken down. I love them so much...and I didn’t want you three to worry when I began to blubber over people you’d never met.”
“Are we going to move in with them?”
“How about we live through this and then we’ll discuss that. All of us.”
Huey hummed softly and nodded. “Okay.”
“Feeling better?”
“...Yeah. Yeah, I am,” Huey looked up with a small smile, “Thanks Uncle Donald.”
Donald smiled back, he pulled the younger into a tight hug. “I love you and I love your brothers. Never doubt that. Now, how about we go find everyone?”
Huey nodded once more and didn’t argue when he was picked up again. As they neared the crossroads, they unintentionally came across the missing party members. José holding Louie’s hand as the older was leading the way. Dewey was riding on Panchito’s shoulders, wearing the large sombrero that was slowly slipping down to cover his eyes.
They all shared quick glances before Donald laughed softly. “I’ll take it, we’ve all talked and are feeling better?”
All parties nodded, sharing calm smiles. Panchito stepped forward and pulled all into a tight hug. None complained about how crushing it was, the triplets finding it comforting.
— CARIOQUINHA
↬ Headcanons about Hinata’s time in Brazil.
Carioquinha: Diminutive of “Carioca”. An affectionate way to refer to a Carioca, a native of Rio de Janeiro.
↬ Featuring. Hinata Shoyo
↬ Word count. 0.8k
↬ Warnings. References to cussing and sexual songs, mentions of alcohol.
↬ Genre. Mostly crack, I guess?!
↬ tris' note: as a carioca myself, I must say that you guys have absolutely no idea of how much fun I had writing these. I think I might be in love with Brazil!Hinata. some of these may be a little too specific, but I promise they are worth it! I’ll include explanations if I believe some terms are a bit unusual. I really hope you guys enjoy it.
✦ Hinata definitely underestimated the heat in Rio. He wanted to look as cool as Brazilians, aiming to get a tan. So, on his first time at the beach, Sho played it off like he didn’t need sunscreen. He didn't understand his friends' laughs when he said he wouldn’t wear it. In less than half an hour, Hinata's back was completely red, any frisky breeze that stroke him led to a different scream.
✦ And of course, his friends didn’t let him off easy. For a whole week, they kept greeting him with a slap on his back, making Shoyo jump as high as if he were about to do a quick attack.
✦ When Hinata first got to Brazil, he wanted to fit in so bad that he tried to learn as many carioca slangs as possible. He would ALWAYS get the context wrong, making everybody laugh, but at least he had the right spirit.
✦ He eventually learned how to use them. So, when he got back to Japan, he would always say them on a regular basis. This usually made his friends very confused, but some of them, such as Bokuto, started to use them as well, just to mess with people.
✦ Anytime he gets angry around his Japanese friends, Sho cusses in portuguese, knowing damn well they can't understand a thing. (This also goes for when he’s bickering with Kags)
✦ Hinata DEFINITELY went to a Brazilian college party. Sho got drunk off of one can of Skol Beats (Brazilian drink similar to White Claw). He danced to funk* music as if the world were about to end.
*Funk: a Brazilian type of music VERY popular in Rio, which consists of fast beats to dance to and lyrics that often have a very sexual tone to it. However, some of the songs are only about having a good time in life.
✦ PLEASE! HINATA ABSOLUTELY LOVES FUNK! He would get down to the floor dancing and twerking, not even realizing what the lyrics mean. After his friends explained the meaning of the songs he was dancing to, he needed a minute to compose himself, staring at the floor in utter shock. Nonetheless, a week later he was seen dancing to it again, not minding it at all.
✦ BY THE WAY, his friends absolutely showed him how to do the passinho (a Brazilian dance move that originated in favelas). He could not FOR THE LIFE OF HIM understand how that works, but he never really gave up trying.
(The "passinho" dance move)
✦ Whenever Hinata was passing by Ipanema’s Beach, he’d join whichever group that was playing at the volleyball areas, instantly becoming best friends with them. He would teach them volleyball tricks, and everybody would be shocked at his talent.
✦ One time, after one of these beach volleyball matches, the group invited him to play altinha, a game in which you can never let the ball fall to the ground but you can't use your hands nor your arms. Hinata played as if his life depended on it, hyping everybody up. After like 50 rounds, the group set its highest score ever.
(An "altinha" match)
✦ Later on, they showed him how to do embaixadinhas, a football move pretty common in Brazil.
✦ Hinata would certainly jog on Calçadão de Copacabana every morning. He’d also befriend the old ladies that run there as well.
(Calçadão de Copacabana)
✦ Can we talk about how much Shoyo LOVES Brazilian food? The first time he tried brigadeiro (a Brazilian candy that is made out of chocolate and condensed milk), he felt like stars were exploding in his mouth.
✦ Brazilians tend to throw barbecues whenever we're celebrating something or even as just casual get-togethers to watch a football match, for example. When Sho found that out, he became the one to host the barbecues, buying crazy amounts of beer and meat, just happy to celebrate life with his friends.
✦ When Hinata learned about Carnaval*, it blew his mind. He immediately went to Saara* to buy TONS of costumes, the craziest ones you can imagine.
*Carnaval: brazilian national holiday in which people go out on the streets wearing costumes, drinking and dancing, enjoying lots of parades.
*Saara: A street commerce in Rio where everything is less than half of the price.
(Street Carnaval in Rio)
✦ On Saturday afternoons, Shoyo goes to Pedra do Arpoador. He loves to watch the sunset there, it makes him feel at peace.
Not How To Pass The PLE
Before I go into the main gist of this post, let me give you a small background story. I was a mid-year post-graduate intern in Manila who started in January 2021. I lived alone in our condo unit near the hospital I went to. My usual routine was to get up early, prep, take a short walk to the trike station where I’d take a tricycle to the hospital, go on duty, insert a coffee or carioca break in between, walk all the way home at the end of the day, then maybe have a short study session with a couple friends after dinner or just chill at home. It was a pretty good setup. But then COVID happened. Suddenly, I was a pandemic e-ntern stuck at home listening to Zoom endorsements and lectures all day. At first I was hopeful that things would somehow go back to normal and maybe I wouldn’t be spending the rest of my internship in front of a screen, but we all know how that turned out.
I finished the first half of my internship with the regular year PGIs online. While they were prepping for their boards, I was on my second half with the new batch of interns (that’s probably you, dear reader)—still online. Now you might think that it would have been wise of me to use all that “free” time to start early with my own boards prep and you would be correct. I thought the exact same thing. And trust me, I tried. And failed. Countless times. I won’t even try to justify it. Admittedly, I still think it was a wasted opportunity to read more and make notes, but then again, there’s no use crying over spilled milk. Besides, while it would have been nice and probably less stressful, I still survived without it. Which means that you can, too. So if you’re one of those who’s berating himself because you “didn’t make the most out of your time”, cut it out. You’ll be fine.
Towards the end of my internship, I enrolled in a review center. Despite the asynchronous setup, the review schedule was super tight and the sessions already started while I was still in the middle of final reports and exams. Needless to say, I was already behind on that before it even began. In fact, I didn’t even get to focus on reviewing itself until maybe around early February because of clearance, paperwork, and application stuff. So if you were to ask me how long I really reviewed for the March 2021 boards, I’d say just a little over a month. Kasalanan ko. Wag po tularan. Stressful siya. Nakakaloka.
And even when I did get to really buckle down and do some intense reading, I didn’t follow the program anymore. I tried to catch up at first, but I was already way behind. But I am grateful for all the summarized material because that meant I didn’t have to pore over the mother books anymore. What I will say, though, is that because I didn’t exactly follow the recommended study hours etcetera, I was able to enjoy the whole process because I did it at my own pace. Sure, there was still that dread that maybe I wasn’t on the same level as the others, but I learned to tune those thoughts out eventually. And that’s where goal-setting and discipline comes in, I guess.
The most common question I’ve been getting is what was my day like during the PLE review season. Honestly, I’d like to say I had a routine I followed, but that’s only half-true. While I did have a structure for my day, I rarely followed it exactly. Nevertheless, allow me to share what it would have been like if I did:
Ideally, I’d wake up at 5:00 A.M. then do my morning routine which included prayer and meditation, making my bed, taking a shower, and brewing coffee. And because I’m the type of person who enjoys these mundane activities and slow mornings, I also took this opportunity to get myself in the zone before all the studying that’s to come. I’d plan out my study goals and outline (something you can do the night before, actually) then maybe have breakfast while watching some videos (could be review-related, or those self-motivational vids, or maybe even Korean street food). I’d do whatever I wanted to wake my brain up without stressing it out too much until around 6:30 A.M. By this time, I’d work on backlogs for about an hour and study until about 10 or 11 A.M.—it depends how in the zone I am. I’d prep and cook lunch and then eat while watching Netflix maybe or even play a bit of Fortnite or Paladins until about 1:00 P.M. At this point, I’m pretty certain to be quite sleepy so it’s either I make coffee or tea, or maybe even go out to study at a coffee shop, and then it’s study all the way until 7 P.M. I then take a break to get some exercise, take a shower, have a light dinner, and if I feel like I deserve it, nap for a little bit. At around 8:30, my family usually calls and then we pray the rosary together. After this, I study again, but more of a recall and review session for the day’s progress until about 11:30. I then have my night self-care routine and then go to sleep around midnight.
The main takeaway from the previous paragraph? “Ideally.”
During the first few days of setting up my schedule or routine, following it was already challenging, but still doable. But then the backlogs started piling up and no matter how much I tried to streamline the whole study process, I just couldn’t keep up. I did what I could to follow study habits and schedules, but the setup was falling apart. And you know what? That was okay.
Normally, my type A self would have been so frustrated already with how poorly I was handling my review season. Admittedly, there were a few meltdowns and anxiety attacks as the exam drew nearer, but for the most part, I just let things happen as they did. I still adjusted, sure, but I wasn’t hard on myself for always having to. I kept changing goals when I didn’t meet them (which was probably 80% of the time). There were even instances where I’d finish a handout and then I’d say that okay, I’ll watch an episode for a reward, but that episode became the entire season. While I considered myself to be the most chill reviewee, I also thought I was the worst because I refused to give up any of my wants for my needs. I resisted, of course, but then they’d bug me the entire time I was studying so instead of staying productive, I’d just annoy the hell out of myself. I was probably just lazy and stubborn. LOL. Long story, short, it was a constant battle.
There were times when I felt confident enough to power through the whole thing. I enjoyed the whole process of studying, actually. Making notes and my own ways of memorizing things was fun. I made use of different study strategies, self-checks, and motivational boosters (more on these on a different post). Aside from these, having review-mates who were just a chat away made things bearable. Breakdown session muna tas aral na ulit. And how could I forget all my sweet friends who would send over coffee ayuda every now and then? To me, passing the boards, while mainly should be for oneself and one’s self-actualization, is also about not letting down these people who have been with you throughout your journey.
But it wasn’t always a hyped-90s-movie-transformation-montage kind of environment. Other times, I was just worn out and dejected by my lack of progress. In the already meager time I had to study, I still had plenty of off-days. Concepts just wouldn’t stick and it was disappointing how I’d already forgotten what I just read a couple days ago. It got really tiring even if I was staying indoors all the time. I missed the comfort of coffee shops and the company of study buddies. I missed my family. I wanted to hug our dog. There were days when I couldn’t even bring myself to make coffee and open my notes. I even reached a point where I was sure that I wouldn’t finish reading all the material. (I kid you not, I have handouts I never got to open.)
Yet here I am. Here I am writing about how I survived all that and got those two letters attached to my name. I am not a good example, obviously. There are hundreds better than me and you probably should be taking advice from them instead. I’m simply writing this to tell you that you don’t have to worry. This is all just to ease your anxieties about the PLE. I’m not saying it’s an easy feat that you can just achieve just like that. While I seemed rather complacent, I still put in the work, after all. Admittedly, I know I could have done more, but again, I’m not going to dwell on that anymore. It’s done.
My goal in writing this is to let you know, my dear future doctor, that you’re going to be just fine. Here’s someone who understands the huge disconnect that stemmed from being a pandemic e-ntern. Here’s someone who’s always been doubtful and full of anxieties about the PLE even before she filed her application at the PRC. Here’s someone who constantly prayed that the PLE be moved even for just a month (or kahit two weeks lang masaya na ako nun) up to the week before the exam along with a rising number of cases. Here’s someone who barely has the capability to maintain focus for more than an hour. Here’s someone whose reading pace was literally at 10 minutes per page (yes, I actually timed it and IDK if that’s slow or really slow). Here’s someone who still allowed herself to study at coffee shops and even have samgyup (with proper health protocols, of course) even if she knew she was drowning in backlogs.
My point is that if I managed to pass despite all that, you can, too. My close friends know that I developed a rather funny mentality to ease the jitters as the boards drew nearer. I knew and claimed it for myself that I would already pass. I viewed the whole PLE as just a “formality”--a means for His plans of me becoming a doctor to manifest in this realm. I believed it so much to the point that I thought that no matter what bloopers and slip-ups I have during the test, I’d still see my name on the list of board passers. I’m not saying you should totally ease up and just have a come-what-may attitude. Again, I’m not the model student you should be following here. What I’m saying is to have faith in yourself, your capabilities, and in God. So chin up, Doc. Just a little more ‘til you get to legally practice with that MD at the end of your name.
Fanfic: The Three Cabs and the Clasico del Pacifico (The Three Caballeros)
READ NOW ON AO3!
If you had ever been to Bahía, you’d quickly realize that soccer was a religion. There, the moving of a ball into a net had the power to make people weep in sorrow or jump for joy. And both were on display at the Copa America, the soccer event that practically shut down the whole of South America.
The stadium in Rio de Janeiro was packed to the brim with rabid spectators lucky enough to witness this year’s final between Peru and Chile, one of the continent’s most heated rivalries. Among them was Brazilian native José Carioca, and his other two Caballeros, Mexican soccer superfan, Panchito Pistoles, and American soccer newbie, Donald Duck.
And if anyone truly experienced the full spectrum of jumping for joy and weeping in sorrow this tournament, it was really José. He weaved his way to his seat with his compatriots embittered, despondent, and slightly hungover. His native Brazil had put up a grand fight yesterday in their semifinal against Peru, but it came down to penalties, where one bad strike had put a swift wall between them and the cup, paving the way for Peru.
It had taken a lot of convincing this morning to even get him to the stadium for the final, José having slept his disappointment away through the 3rd place match, which Brazil won. It was paltry compensation. But in the end, his love of the beautiful game won him over, and his friends helped him to see that. What amazing people they were. He’d do anything for them.
He still arrived in a Brazil jersey, though. Petty? Yes. Did José care? Not a bit.
“Don’t you feel even a little out of place?” asked Donald as they sat down, looking at how José’s yellow shirt stuck out like a sore among the sea of white and red around them.
“My friend,” José began, his tone stoic, “we should be here. So no, I do not feel out of place.”
Panchito leaned over to Donald and said, “Caramba, I fear there’ll be no living with him for a good long while at this point. Might as well get used to it.”
José remained seated while the national anthems played, unfazed by the massive gathering of voices singing the pride of their two countries, nor the dirty looks he and his friends were given by a couple choice patrons around them. At last, the two teams were in position, the ball was at the center, and all that was left to do was kickoff and begin the biggest match of the year.
With the shrill pitch of the ref’s whistle, the stadium erupted again, and set about cheering on their teams to victory. José allowed his mind to wander away from his bitterness and slowly but surely began to enjoy the game with his friends. Donald, in particular, had by this time come to really appreciate the world’s game much more richly. When they arrived, he was a poor soccer novice, unsure of the difference between even a yellow and a red card. But game by game, the Caballeros would guide him through the game’s intricacies, so that now he was one of them, cheering just as loud and getting just as passionate over the beauty going on down on the pitch.
Panchito thought the Peru offense was magic to witness this year. He would constantly brag about how they were finding openings where there seemed to be none, always passing to the right players, and launching relentless strikes the goalie was an inch away from letting slip.
By the start of the second half, Panchito was lamenting, “Surely they must score!”
“I dunno,” said Donald, pointing out a Chilean parrot, guarding a Peruvian player searching for someone to help him out. “Chile’s been putting up a pretty good fight.” Donald had always marveled at the Chilean’s ability to squeak goals in on spectacular setpieces. Whenever they lined up for a corner, everyone was in the right place at the right time for someone’s head to meet the ball. And of course, their goalie had been on fire all tournament, pulling off quick fire saves that anyone else would’ve balked at. This was athleticism the likes of which Donald had never seen before.
The crowd’s gaze was suddenly drawn to a shrill whistle and the same Chilean player on the ground, holding his shoulder. “BOOK HIM!” Donald shouted, pumping his fist in rage. Indeed, the yellow card was shown to Peru and a penalty kick was awarded. The whole stadium held their breath as a Chilean cockatoo lined up to take his shot.
The whistle, then the runup, then the shot! The ball fired left while the goalie went right. The crowd roared its approval, and even José was jumping up and down in elation. “That’s what they get!” he yelled, hugging his friends. Donald and Panchito looked at each other and shrugged.
By the time the ref blew the final whistle, the reverberation of that one penalty had truly made itself known. Peru could not put one on the board, and Chile had taken the cup. Walking out onto the pitch, they all lined up to receive their medals, and then, a crow in a suit made his entrance, carrying the shiny silver trophy glazed in red streamers. The captain shook hands with the crow and gratefully took the trophy in his hands. The entire team crouched then all jumped up in unison as the captain hoisted his country’s prize. The crowd roared and jumped along with them, seemingly shaking the stadium to its foundation with celebratory noise, singing and dancing.
The sky, dotted with soccer’s finest stars, looked down upon the Three Cabs as they conversed in the stadium parking lot. “Thanks a lot for bringing me out, guys,” said Donald, “I had an amazing time, and I think I have a new favorite sport!”
Panchito nudged José in the side. “We did it, amigo! We converted him, eh? YAWOO!” he crowed, pumping his fist.
José chuckled. “Always nice to meet a new lover of our pride and joy.”
“Hey, I think we’re hosting the World Cup next year,” said Donald. “You guys wanna fly over then and do this again? I think I could butter uncle Scrooge enough to get us tickets.”
“My friend, you’re crazy,” said José, “but I sincerely hope you can make it happen.”
“You watch me! This time next year, we’ll be sitting in the McDuck Arena cheering on the USA and Brazil!”
Panchito huffed. “¡¿Qué?! Why not the USA and Mexico?”
“Or perhaps Brazil and Mexico?” José chimed in.
The three collapsed in laughter and walked off holding each other’s hands. There was plenty of time to bet on the future when they reached it. For now, it was party time! And if you’ve ever been to Bahia, you’d know that if soccer was their religion, the two churches were the stadium and the local pub.
Ducktober/Duckvember 9 - Headcanon
Hi! My writing schedule for this is very hectic, but I've been working a lot lately and Death Stranding is out, so both of these have been keeping me busy... sorry!! I'll do my best to catch up on duck fics! I did a combo with this one since it features 3 headcanons of mine :) More on them in the notes at the end, so I don't spoil the story! Also first time writing Panchito and José so I’m stocked!! Enjoy!
It was supposed to be a calm Saturday in the McDuck Mansion.
Mrs Beakley was cleaning the hallways, Huey was absorbed in trying to earn his calligraphy Junior Woodchuck badge, Dewey was filming yet another episode of Dewey Dew-night in the triplets' room (even though it was the middle of the afternoon, since his filming sessions had been rescheduled courtesy of Donald and Della’s joint efforts), Louie was teaching Webby the ropes of advanced kart drifting techniques in his favorite racing game, Della was busy doing some maintenance work on the Cloud Slayer, and Launchpad was at an amusement park with Drake and his friend's adopted daughter Gosalyn. And since everyone was busy doing rather calm activities, Scrooge had taken the opportunity to sit in the library, comfortably seated in his favorite armchair, newspaper on his lap and a cup of warm tea on the small table near him, within hand's reach.
It was supposed to be a calm Saturday – “supposed” being the keyword.
Suddenly, an abominable noise akin to a deafening mix between a dying screech and an explosion vibrated through the whole house, startling all its inhabitants. Right after that first audible assault, a guitar riff resonated in every corridor and every room, its melody (if you could call it that) generously peppered with false notes. And as if it wasn't enough, a stream of somewhat rhythmic banging was added, and soon after what could only be described as the sound that someone recklessly stepping on a piano would make.
“What is that?!” Louie screamed, more annoyed than scared. He had looked forward to spending a normal day for once and was most displeased with the horrid cacophony. “I have no idea!” Webby answered excitedly, dropping her controller. “Let's investigate!”
The girl dashed out of the room, and Louie had no choice but to follow her. He really didn't want to, but the sooner they found the source of the disturbance, the sooner he could get back to his video game. As the ducklings were running in the corridors, trying to find the room the problem was coming from, they came across a very irritated Dewey.
“I was doing an interview!” he explained. “Whoever or whatever is making that noise will have to do some serious apologizing!”
Louie rolled his eyes, and the three kids kept running. They ended up in the entrance hall, the noise getting louder with every step; when they reached the bottom of the stairs, Della, Huey and Mrs. Beakley were already busy trying to locate the source of the noise. Said noise was still barely bearable; Huey in particular was looking particularly distressed, his hands tightly protecting his ears.
“What is going on here?!” Della yelled, her voice hard to hear above the cacophony. “I thought it was you, Dewey!” “What?!” the duckling shouted, offended. “Why would you think that?!” “Shut up!” Louie screamed as he held Huey’s right shoulder and pressed his older brother close to him, to comfort him and do his best to soothe his nerves. “You’re making it worse!”
Dewey was about to answer the youngest triplet but was cut short by his great-uncle joining them in the hall. Curiously, although he should have been the most annoyed by the sudden racket, Scrooge looked tired and resigned rather than angry. That startled even Mrs Beakley, who couldn’t help but ask:
“Mr McDuck, do you have any idea what-” “Yes, I do, Beakley.” he sighed, rolling his eyes and making his way to the manor’s right wing. “And I’ll put an end to it.”
Webby was the first to follow him, followed closely by Dewey and her grandmother. Louie stayed behind with Huey, waiting until his brother’s breathing had slowed down before they joined the rest of the group. They found themselves in the garage, where the noise was so loud it was painful to bear.
Since Launchpad had moved to live with Drake and Gosalyn the week before, the mansion’s garage had been eerily quiet without the constant, faint sound of Darkwing Duck reruns, or more recently, old rock songs. Now, however, the garage was anything but quiet, and the manor’s inhabitants understood why when they opened the door and found themselves face to face with what seemed like a fever dream.
Donald was wearing an old, tattered flannel shirt Della was sure he must have gotten as a birthday present twenty years before, and he was playing on an equally old electric guitar, his fingers running on the instrument with a surprising speed, but with a disastrous result. Donald had also combed his hair to resemble a fringe, falling on his forehead, stopping right before his eyes that were tightly shut closed as he was passionately shouting in what was probably an attempt at singing. Next to him, an antique accordion was propped on a chair, next to a flute and an acoustic guitar.
He wasn’t alone: two other persons were with him, and the four children were surprised to recognize him as Donald’s best friends, the ones they had met back in Brazil.
Panchito still had his sombrero on, but he was wearing tight denim pants and a leather jacket with shining spikes on the shoulders rather than the bright red outfit he had worn when they first met him. He was also singing, and was sitting behind worn drums, playing them with all his might, the sticks banging ferociously against the instrument. José was as into their “musical number” as his friends: he was standing behind a keyboard, hands expertly gliding on the keys, playing somewhat better than Panchito and Donald – which wasn’t saying much. He had gone through a wardrobe change too, wearing a white shirt with more buttons undone than fastened and slick black pants. José was singing his heart out as well, and sometimes his left hand left the keyboard to reach for a tambourine and shake it for a bit.
Huey and Della were in absolute disbelief at the scene, while Louie snorted and quickly reached for his phone, recording the disastrous attempt of a musical performance. Webby was confused, blinking quickly and looking at her grandmother for answers to her silent questions, Mrs Beakley answering only with a tired sigh. Scrooge was about to charge towards the trio, cane in his hand, but Dewey was quicker and louder:
“UNCLE DONALD, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”
His scream was so loud that Donald and his friends stopped immediately, drawing sighs of relief and pleasure from everyone else. He opened his eyes, and found himself face to face with a very angry duckling.
“Oh, bom dia, Donald’s family!” José greeted, not fazed in the least by Dewey’s tone or attitude. “It’s been a while!” Panchito added, smiling. “Yeah, yeah, hello. It’s not everyday that I can get prestigious guests on my show, and just when I was about to start interviewing Glomgold, you had to do… whatever that is!” “Glomgold?!” Scrooge almost choked as he heard his rival’s name. “Yeah!” Huey chimed in, having finally calmed down since the source of his discomfort had disappeared. “Do you really have to play so loud?” “And so false?” Louie added, saying out loud what everyone thought.
Donald looked a bit distraught, and Panchito and José looked at each other, confused.
“We weren’t playing out of key!” the rooster countered. “Si, it has been a while since we last practiced, but-” “It was atrocious.” Della provided. “Aw, come on, Dellita!” Panchito brushed her off. He stood up and ran to properly greet her, giving her a tight hug. He hadn’t seen her since she had visited Donald between two flights during his college days, and his duck friend had told him and José all about what had happened to her. “Come here! I’m so happy to see you!” “Sim, Della, you haven’t aged a day!” José smiled after giving her a hug of his own. “Flattery isn’t gonna make me less mad about you!”
Donald couldn’t help but feel a strange sensation in his stomach as he saw his twin sister reuniting with his best friend, a warm feeling tinted with nostalgia that brought a tear to his eye. He blinked it away, and when he opened his eyes, it was to find himself face to face with Scrooge, who was looking particularly crossed.
“Lad, the “no band practice in the manor without my permission” rule still applies.” “Uncle Scr-” “Band practice?!” Webby squealed, running away from Panchito ruffling her hair to Scrooge and Donald’s side. “I didn’t realize! It’s true that the three of you were the Three Caballeros! Since you said that last time, I did some research but didn’t find anything online!” “We were very, ehm, how do you say? Ah, underground!” José provided. “But I could give you a cassette we recorded. I have several back home.” “Aww, you kept them?” Panchito beamed, throwing his arms around his friend. “I’d love to, Mr Carioca!” “Please, call me José, docinha.” “Why… why would you want that?!”
As Webby explained how happy she was to put her hands on a tangible piece of Donald Duck’s history, Panchito and José decided to back their friend up, since said friend was looking a little guilty under Scrooge’s severe glare.
“Scrooge, sorry! We were so happy to celebrate the Three Caballeros’ revival that we might have gotten a bit carried away!” the parrot apologized with a smile. “Yeah!” Panchito added, firmly patting the old duck’s back. “We’ll be more careful in the future, promise!” “What do you mean, in the future?” Mrs Beakley sternly asked, her head already aching at the perspective of having to endure more of this torture. “You didn’t tell them, Donald?!” José gasped.
The duck rubbed the back of his neck, embarrassed.
“I… was waiting for the right moment and didn’t have the occasion?” “Told us what, Donald?” Scrooge squinted, sensing something not pleasant in the least was about to happen. “Donald said that since your garage was free now, we had all the space we wanted to practice and work on new songs for our upcoming album and concerts! Los Three Caballeros are officially BACK!” Panchito loudly exclaimed, José smiling in approval and Donald feeling very, very little under his uncle and Mrs Beakley’s intense stares.
A collective groan ensued, save for Webby’s enthusiastic “Yeah!”.
-
It was my first time writing Panchito and José, I hope I got them right! I took Spanish as a 2nd language (French being my mothertongue, English was my 1st foreign language in school, Russian my 3rd and Latin my 4th. Sadly I've lost almost all of my knowledge in Russian...) and don't speak Portuguese or Brazilian Portuguese so feel free to correct me. More on the 3 headcanons:
1) Sometime after season 2, Launchpad moves out of McDuck manor and goes to live with Drake and Gosalyn, although he still stays close to Scrooge and his family, especially Dewey! It starts as a simple roommates situation, but since I love Drakepad it ends with them in a relationship :)
2) Huey is gifted. It's probably me projecting, but Huey has a lot of traits often found in gifted people: being book smart, having interest in always learning new things and skills, trying to understand everything, being kind and trying to be as helpful as possible, and being easily anxious and prone to anger outbursts. I could go into detail about this haha, in fact I probably will in the form of a fic later in this challenge that will have Huey interacting with someone I also headcanon as gifted c: 2.5) And I can see Louie as being the one to calm him down the most easily when Huey has a spike of anxiety or a panic attack. Louie is good at reading people and he's also quite sensitive, which is why I can see him looking out for his big brother. Dewey just doesn't realize it, I think he has more difficulty reading people and understanding how they feel, especially if they try to hide it.
3) And of course the main focus of this fic, THE THREE CABALLEROS GETTING BACK TOGETHER !!! I really wanna see this in the show, even if it's just in passing. We know that Panchito and José will be in S3, and I really would like to see them and Donald playing music, even if it's just in a flashback or something!!
Saludos Amigos
Greeting, Friends! - I’m back with more Disney!
It’s the war time now, and do to lots of factors that I’m not going to go into (Wikipedia page, there ya go), Disney turned from doing full length animated films to packaged shorts and anthologies. This era of films is kind of fascinating to me because as a kid, I knew there were films that between Bambi and Cinderella, but they were often unspoken of, kind of in a mysterious way. Oh, we don’t talk about the anthology films... Why? Probably because they’re lower quality and short films that a bit outdated, and are much different than what we know of as a Disney classic. Still, my brother asked if we could skip these and I’m like --- nope, they’re on the official list. We’re doing this.
The first of these anthology films is Saludos Amigos, four ten minute shorts that are part travelogue and part instructional cartoon for South America. I kind of expected to hate all of these but this one... isn’t that bad! And perhaps did its job and made me want to visit South America in the 40s.
Lake Titicaca -
Donald Duck heads to Lake Titicaca, plays the flute with a youngster, and hangs out with a llama on a bridge. That’s pretty much the entire short. It’s cute in that Looney Toon-ish way. I found that Donald Duck is almost unintelligible. I kind of had to use context clues to understand what he was saying. Also, I appreciate that Donald, as an American tourist, is a dingbat when it comes to other cultures. Point for you, Disney, for not letting the protagonist be better than the people who actually live in the country.
Also, as an aside for all of these, the animation is clearly not there the way it was in the Golden Age of Disney films, but it’s wartime, and I’m sure everyone was strapped money and time. And honestly - all things considered, the animation isn’t bad, and they make use of a lot of still art, which is really quite beautiful.
Pedro -
Pedro’s the story of a little plane who has to fly over the Andes to retrieve some mail. While it’s the least culturally specific, it’s probably the short with the most actual story, as the plane’s little adventure turns dangerous. It’s cute, it’s fine, the mountain is super sinister. A five year-old might enjoy it.
El Gaucho Goofy -
This one might be the oddest one of the bunch. So, something I learned today, the El Gaucho is kind of like the South American version of a cowboy. Well - that’s what this cartoon told me. They dressed Goofy as a cowboy, and then as a Gaucho and made him dance the Salsa with a horse. You can tell that the animators really enjoyed their time in Argentina -- more effort seemed to be put into this cartoon than any of the others. It’s a little on the weird side (the horse is super on the weird side) but it’s fun.
Fun fact - apparently Goofy is smoking in a scene. I didn’t catch it, but it’s been recently restored since Disney took it out for years and years.
Aquarela do Brasil -
This cute, little short let’s us take a peak into the the world of Brazil and introduces us to the Samba. It’s mostly watercolors and music (which is quite nice) until the end when they pair Donald again with a Parrot named Jose Carioca. Between the Portuguese Parrot and Donald, I have no idea what’s being said, but it’s charming and ridiculous. And I think Jose Carioca is far more entertaining than most of the animal-based sidekicks in the earlier films. (I’m also of mind that they directly parroted (pun intended) someone they were actually working with.)
Fwiw - I don’t really have any fun facts, but they keep using the word ‘gay’ in a way that was probably the most popular in the 1890s, and it kind of hilarious. Every song should be gay, sings the narrator, ah, but they should.
Final thoughts: So -- that’s it! It’s Disney’s shortest film in canon, and it’s fine and cute, and I have no desire to see it again, but entertaining enough for a children’s cartoon from the forties. I really did expect a lot worse, though apparently, this is one of the better anthology packages.
monsta x in são paulo (19.07.19)
hey y'all this post is to tell my experience during my concert and hi touch event of the we are here world tour last friday night 🤩 so buckle up bc its a LONG ONE but i divided it into categories so u dont have to read everything if u dont want to!
the concert in general: ok so the concert was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. there were about 7 songs i didn’t really listen to a lot or liked before the concert but even those were amazing and had me jumping and screaming and going crazy. they’re all SO much more beautiful irl which is like !!!!!!!!! HOW. and they’re so so SO talented all the choreos were incredible and their voices!!! sound even better irl. hyungwon asked minhyuk to sing a little bit of play it cool acapella for us and his voice 😭😭😭 so sweet it’s like honey. they brought hero back to life which was. an experience to see live tbh. i got to the venue line at 9:30am (10.5 hours before the concert) and i was about maybe 15? rows away from the stage (bc i had to go pee real quick as soon as they let us inside) but im like 158cm (5'2) tall so even tho i was standing on this little protection thingy to be taller i still couldn’t see them that well :( i dont think i saw any choreos in full bc of that but it was still amazing to see them do it irl. they all introduced themselves in portuguese during the first ment it was super 🤩 adorable! most of them only said “oi, eu sou ___” (“hi, i am ___”) but some of them had longer phrases prepared (maybe kh, jh and ck? i believe) which was so awesome to see!! during the second ment, hw talked about how some of their songs were composed by their own members and he did that to introduce “our maknae’s song” (aka mohae) and my soul left my body. after jealousy there was the first vcr which was like a youtuber au vcr and it was so!!!!! cute hyungwon, minhyuk and wonho giving us styling, skincare and exercising tips respectively, jooheon making a burrito he named "honey-to", kihyun and kyun teaching us how to make coffee and how to speak english resp and of course nunu's famous asmr mukbang 🥰🥰🥰 it was honestly superrrrr cute and funny i remember hyungwon trying to spell a word in english and just going "..........ne" after the first two letters and then kyun snickering skejdkksdk and jooheon making fun of ck for something and ck laughing the fakest laugh i ever seen in my life lmao and i also remember ki telling us to be careful about a lot of things but most of all our hearts bc he's gonna steal them 😷🤒🤕 but yes i loved it it was v cute and v funny and i loved how they were all interacting with each other even tho it was separate videos. after the unit stages, hyungwon revealed that joo had actually changed up his routine for a more samba-like beat specially for brazil 🥺 he confirmed that and we went INSANE and started showing them our own beat (a classic carioca funk "tchu tcha tcha tchu tchu tcha" that we fo with our mouths/words) and at first they were all like ??????? but then they LOVED IT and joined in on the fun. mh and kh were dancing to it the most and it was so funny. hyungwon or minhyuk then asked jooheon if he could incorporate our beat into his beatboxing and he said it was possible and then we were all just going TCHU TCHA TCHA TCHU TCHU TCHA while he was beatboxing along and he said it was difficult skdjkekddk around five or six different times they told us to take steps back and step a little bit away from each other so we wouldn't hurt ourselves or feel ill (hyungwon did it the most, he actually spotted a girl nearly fainting in the front rows and brought staff's attention to her and he only stopped talking about it/got more relaxed when they did something about it). during this same ment they talked about sn's and wh's different choice of clothing for their unit stage and said it was more daring and sexy and shownu said that kihyun actually chose those clothes for them lmao and ki said he chose them bc he knew us brazilian mbbs would love it and we were like wow. They Know we're whores love that. then someone was like "u chose that?? ur kinda conservative tho????" and ki said he's been "open-minded since birth" KDJSKFKDK rip conservative brothers but the way the lady translated it accidentally kinda made it sound that he was like. open for romantic/sexual advances and we were all like 👀👀👀 OKAY. oh also sometime during the concert one of them slipped and nearly fell doing something stupid (i think wonho or changkyun) skndkskdk the second vcr was the seven deadly sins themed and wow. the PRODUCTION. the absolute ARTISTRY of it all. wheres their oscar. it was honestly super cool but minhyuk was the only member that hadn't appeared yet and the only sin left was lust so we were all like 👁️😏 but then it said AGONY. ????????? it was kinda confusing but amazing nonetheless kyun wanted to shoot hyungwon but then he didnt bc the underlying message was that they all committed sins and blamed themselves but managed to find forgiveness by being together aw <3 a random moment that i dont remember when it happened was when kyun was speaking portuguese to us and he was trying to say "vocês querem curtir?" (which is something like "do you want to have fun?") but he messed it up a bit and accidentally said "vocês querem cu...?" which means "do you want asshole?" and we were all like BOY DKEJDKEJDIDKFKS i dont think he knows what it actually means but he corrected himself real quick and moved on to the next song 💀 for the second to last ment they tried to convince us the concert was ending (lmao) and there was only one song left, so we were all shouting "não" ("no") and they were like "we cant go??????" and we were like "no!!!!!" and they were like :/ oh well guess we gotta stay kdnskdjs they had the brazilian flag up there for some time but they also somehow got an lgbt pride flag there too for the pics??? before the ending ment kihyun said that they all have strengths, as i recall kyun's was writing cool songs/lyrics, shownu's was being fun, i think minhyuk's was having a voice like honey? and i dont recall the rest but when he got to hyungwon he just said "being very tall" and we were all like LMAO SAY SOMETHING ELSE ABOUT HIM!!!! and then he said an actual compliment lol for the actual last ment they each said goodbye to us, i specifically remember wonho telling us that the energy we had and him performing on stage for us reminded him of why he was a singer and why he had to be on stage 🥺🥺🥺 and shownu agreed 🥺 kyun(?) said even though he's going back to korea he's gonna feel incomplete bc he's leaving brazil, ki said he liked us so much he could have another 6 concerts here bc our energy would be enough to keep him going and then said something really greasy that i dont remember but obviously loved at the moment. and then they said they're coming back next year 🤩 and they told us to take care of ourselves and wait for them and come back next year (in a bigger venue, they said!) and they all had their pinky fingers up and were saying "promete" ("promise", but as in the imperative verb) to us 😭😭😭
the songs: i was going to put my videos in this post but there’s a video limit so i’m gonna post them separately later but the first song was shoot out and unfortunately i didn’t get to film any of it because i was in SHOCK that they were REAL PEOPLE and RIGHT THERE u know dkjskdkd then was hero and it was INSANE to see it live??? seeing them do the “i can be your hero i can be your man” move IN REAL LIFE????? not to be a kihyun stan but i had kihyun tunnel vision during the entirety of the song lmfao then it was trespass and the energy was INSANE everybody was going absolutely crazy to it esp during the chorus and jooheon’s “excuse my charisma"s!!! after the ment they performed party time and we had this fan project and the people in my area had yellow cellophane on their phone lights and the people in the back had green ones (brazilian colors) and we had them on during the entirety of party time bc they mention brazil in the song and it was just so 🥰🥰🥰 such a vibe! one of the only songs i actually danced to lol party time was next and also a ~vibe~ we all danced a lot to it and after it was over, during the ment, hw asked mh to sing a little of it for us and he was sooo happy to see us sing along and sing the entire chorus even after he had stopped! it was super cute to see him smile so proudly like that. and then it was the loml, my fave mx song, a booty call anthem that somehow moves my heart, miss mohae and as soon as i heard the first few beats i SCREAMED and i was the only one doing that before everybody else realized the song had already started but i didnt even have time to be embarrassed bc i was literally tearing up. honestly hearing it live was one of the best moments of my life bc i have this huge emotional attachment to the song and it was just all super special, i was screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs and dancing and jumping and yelling. seeing kyun’s rap live was amazing and you could actually SEE how proud he was seeing so many people sing a song HE composed you know? he let us rap most of his part bc he was just in awe and wanted to see us sing it back to him. and hyungwon tried to rap jooheon’s part but he got it all messed up halfway through it was SO CUTE and jooheon had an arm around him and was BEAMING WITH LOVE the entire time 😍😍😍 everyone was fonding HARD at him. and the crowd was SO loud during the "don’t kill my vibe, i be on your way, i be, i be on your way” part it was actually deafening. i only recorded one of the choruses bc i wanted to enjoy the rest of the song but here it is! the next song was one of the other lomls, miss jealousy!!! it was absolutely STUNNING!! and yes the crowd went crazy when wonho mentioned shownu and yes that hyungwon+changkyun part IS as overwhelming to experience irl as it looks. after the youtuber vcr came the unit stages and oh. my. god mh, hw and kh came out first and it was just. so sexy and elegant. and the vocals? 10/10 LOVED that men in suit shit. then was jooheon's and changkyun's stage and HOLY. FUCKIN. SHIT. absolutely my favorite performance of the night it was EVERYTHING to me. the energy was super fuckin cool and we were all jumping around and screaming while they rapped in sexy robes over a cool ass beat it was awesome. in the middle of the performance joo tried to flip a water bottle (???) and he actually failed lol but we were so hype we didnt even notice/care we just hyped him TF up. he later apologized for it during the next ment and the real time translator lady said "desculpa" ("sorry") and changkyun said "yeah, desgupa" immediately after 🥺 then jooheon had a drum solo which ??????? i had zero fucking idea about i was just kinda standing there in shock while he absolutely murdered that drum set right in front of our eyes. AND THEN ck came back and started to rap along to his drumming and i know im saying this a lot but it was SEXY okay i have no other words they were both in muscle tees just out there being their sexiest selves UGH. and AS IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH then came wonho and shownu's stage and uhhhhhhh wow. SEXY AS WELL but also kinda angsty? idk but i loved it they absolutely killed it with the dance and they were wearing see through shirts and the crowd went insane. after that there were the songs i didn't listen to a lot or liked before the concert but they were all still amazing to me!! honestly, i do love u, white sugar and no reason were all SUPER cute!! AND THEN. miss myself came on and oh my god. it was a spiritual experience to see it live. absolutely amazing and breathtaking even though it's so simple. like it's just so elegant and moving. i had to close my eyes a couple times to feel the moment and it was an amazing sensation. also!! a few girls gave us free banners to lift after kihyun's high note and they said 주변을 돌아봐 내겐 다 너니까 꿈 아냐 (shownu's line, "turn and look around, because you're everything to me this isn't a dream") and it was SO emotional to see a sea of these red banners showing them our love!!
it was amazing AND THEN. dramarama oh my god it was so freakinggggg cool! to see the performance live, jooheon milly rocking right in front of my eyes... amazing. everyone went insane during rapline's first part. one of my fave performances for sure!! next song after the ment was oh my and IT WAS AMAZING!! the choreo was just stunning and the energy!! everyone was just jumping around and screaming the lyrics, esp kihyun's line before the last chorus!! and im absolutely obsessed with the choreo, honestly. then special and fallin' were SO COOL, just like the other upbeat songs, the energy was amazing, everyone was jumping around and screaming the lyrics. fallin' was especially hype as hell and minhyuk did this funny low voice dkjskdkd then it was alligator and listen. i hated it when it came out but when they performed it i had never loved a song so much in my life. it was CLEAR it was one of the performances they were working the hardest on and their talents were really shining through 😔 i had ki and shownu tunnel vision unfortunately i missed kyun's iconic hip thrusts sksjdks but theres always next year i guess! so they had just convinced us it was their last song but after a few mins hyungwon came back out and we met H.One hehe i didnt think i would like it bc i thought it would be mostly edm and i dont really like edm but it was just some really good remixes?? he played taki taki and mi gente and everybody went fuckin insane like i remember my knee hurting super bad during this part and he was just. chilling on the stage sjejdjsk BUT THEN CAME THE TRUE GO CRAZY AAHHHH GO STUPID MOMENT OF THE CONCERT: RODEO. boy was it a fuckin ride. truly the time to fuckin wild out at an mx concert. i think it was during this song that minhyuk (?) put a brazilian flag around jooheon's shoulders so we were even more hype!! last song was by my side and it was super calm and bittersweet and like a "goodbye, ily" song :( we had these paper hearts someone gave us and we kept them up for them during the entire song, it was so lovely
the hi touch: ok so the concert ended and we waited around 50 mins for the ht event to start and we were all in a single line that went behind a curtain and THEY WERE ALREADY BEHIND THE CURTAIN SO THERE WAS NO WAY TO PREPARE FOR IT KDJDJDJD they were all standing behind a table and on the other side of the table was some of their staff on a single line to keep people from taking pictures of them and we had to go through the line of staff and the table to see them/touch their hands. it was SUPER rushed i dont think i spent 3 seconds there. my brain absolutely froze bc it was my first time at a hi touch (or first time meeting a celebrity, ever) and it was like 7 people i love and admire all at once so i couldn't manage to say more than "hi" to them and just look at them in shock and i was going faster as they (staff) told me to go faster (stupid) but they were also telling us to use only one hand and not touch their hand with both of ours but fuck that lol so in general they are all real people which is insane??? but also they ARE all SO much more beautiful in real life. like they literally glow. my friends told me they would seem taller and skinnier than i thought but i honestly didnt have the time or the brains to think about that or notice any of that. hyungwon IS tall as fuck though
kihyun: just my luck, my first bias was the first one of the line. as i walked behind the curtain there was a taller girl in front of me in line so i couldn't see much so i had like no time to process anything ksjskdks as soon as i saw it was him i went "oh my god, hi" (yes in english bc i know he understands basic english and doesn't speak portuguese lol) and he was SO sweet like it was literally half a second but his face softened and he said "hiiii" back and gave me the sweetest smile :( hes an angel on earth and i can prove it ok. hi touch aside, he's VERY confident onstage and also VERY greasy lmao he was shooting greasy stuff at us left and right and we ATE IT ALL UP. but he's also incredibly sweet and funny but like we been knew. every time he said something greasy he would expectantly wait for the lady to finish translating so he could see our reaction and afterwards he ALWAYS had that smile where he gets those dimples below his eyes :( he's one of the most talkative members!
shownu: mistre hyunwoo was second in the line and i was still in shock from seeing the loml so all i said was "hi" and he honestly seemed confused that i, a brazilian, was trying to speak english to him, a korean DJJSKDKD but he said hi very quick and had this small smile. he's taller than he seems?? i think? at least onstage and he's also very bashful no matter what he's saying lol unless it's serious stuff like him agreeing with wonho during the ending ment
wonho: ok so i dont remember the order exactly after the first two bc i started to like. have brain death but i THINK it was wonho but i saw him VERY quickly. idk if it's bc i saw him right after shownu or if he was bending forward or what but he's actually shorter than i thought he was. he had the HUGEST smile on his face and was super excited to say hi back to my dumbstruck face lol he's also?? surprisingly commanding?? like he's not imposing or anything bc he's super gentle but he told us to be quiet while he was speaking (.......lol) bc we were screaming and when he started to speak again this group of girls continued screaming and he looked at them DIRECTLY, FROM THE STAGE, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MENT, POINTED AT THEM and deadass went "i have already told you to be quiet twice" and everyone was like??? in shock bc we didn't know if he was serious so we were just like 😳😳😮😮 it was very bizarre honestly a surreal moment to see wonho talk like that to any monbebe ever (for the record im not saying he was rude or anything, it was just very surprising to see that happen). i clearly remember these 3 older ladies referring to him as "primo" ("cousin") for some reason during the entire concert and idk why but that's so funny to me? it's kinda stuck in my mind now im gonna start calling him primo. he ripped his shirt off a total of two (2) different times, maybe three, one of them unprompted and unrequested, during a slow song. love that for him
hyungwon: oh boy. here we go. when my friends told me he was the most different one irl and that he was incredibly prettier i was like ok and then i saw him on the stage and was like yeah alright he's a little different but nothing too exceptional but holy. crap. he was never my type but when i saw him face to face i think my mind literally blacked out. like my body was still functioning but my mind just completely shut down when i saw him smiling at me and saying hi. like that didn't happen with kihyun, one of my ULTIMATE BIASES, but it happened when i saw HIM, that's how beautiful he is. im not using any of these words lightly, but he's beautiful, pretty, stunning, overwhelmingly handsome, an angel. he's just indescribable. his hair is so long and pretty and his face is just so soft and beautiful and he has the prettiest looking lips. has heavy vampire boyfriend vibes also. one of the quietest members, i barely have any pics of him bc he was rarely ever on the big screen bc he didnt say much. tall as hell too
minhyuk: listen i am SO SAD about this i was so overwhelmed by hyungwon's face my mind completely blanked when i got to minnie and i have no idea what i did, i don't even know if i said anything or if i just stared at him dumbfounded sjejjdjsd i have no recollection of his face at ALL like my mind was not able to process anything after hyungwon BUT i know he is pretty as hell (wbk) and he's also even sexier on stage!! like his presence and his moves are just very sensual and he is one of the most talkative ones too! we already know that but he is SUPER funny he never missed an opportunity to do something completely bizarre i just love that funky lil cowboy HE HAD A COWBOY HAT OVER HIS CAP DURING RODEO AND HE ALSO WORE THE FUNNIEST BRAZILIAN FLAG SUNGLASSES DURING HIS ENDING MENT HERE HE IS
jooheon: yall. he is SO. so so so SOOOO much prettier irl like he doesn't LOOK any different like hyungwon does but he's just even more beautiful up close and he also looks taller than i pictured? his whole face was just lit up seeing us and he was super excited to be saying hi to me it was so sweet :( like i am actually even more in love with him now after experiencing that i even dreamed about him that night lmao and oh god I cant even describe how cute his eyesmile + dimple combo is irl 😔😔😔 he talked a lot too and he literally speaks in POUT whenever he said something most of the time it sounded like he was whining it was so cute jdjdjfjd but when he's performing he's a BEAST his stage presence is un-fucking-paralleled he definitely has the strongest one in the group. his mere being there just commands you to pay attention to him in awe it's just very inexplicable. he's just super cute and nice and an angel
changkyun: oh god I didn't wanna write about my experience with him during the hi touch jsjsjdjs but im gonna try to keep this as neutral as possible. so after i got to jooheon he was the last in line (which was my ideal situation, my two biases - ki and him - in opposite ends so even if i did freeze when i saw one id have time to get over it before the other one) and when i got to him he didn't look at my face, he was looking at the beginning of the line (???) for some reason, so even though i grabbed his hand and said hi i dont remember if he even said it back and i didn't get to look him in the eyes like all the others, which made me really angry as soon as i walked out and then really upset bc i spent 110 reais to see them and one of my two faves didn't look at me when i was right in front of him, but u know it is what it is. i dont think he did it on purpose or that he's an asshole or anything like that, it's just something that happened and upset me. but aside from that, the thing that stuck with me the most out of the entire concert: HE IS INCREDIBLY!!! SEXIER IN REAL LIFE like all my friends who saw mx say hyungwon is the most different but for me it was kyun. he's SO MUCH MORE HANDSOME than in the internet, pictures really do not do him justice. and he has this really hot careless, cool guy attitude in general, like when they/we were hyping him up bc of mohae he was like 🤙🏼 he stared at the floor a lot while the others were talking and like. he knows he's hot thats VERY clear lmao. he's surprisingly talkative. he's very effortless with his moves when he's dancing and that's not saying he doesn't put in effort he just makes it seem so. easy and nicely flowing idk. he was wearing a cap during the hi touch and holy fucking hell he has the nicest profile ive ever seen. thats all
sidenote: PLEASE be careful when camping days before a concert or even hours. a LOT of the people who had spent too much time in line to be closer to the stage had to leave the concert halfway through bc they were literally about to pass out after having spent so much time with poor sleep and unhealthy eating/drinking. enjoy your concert but also take care of yourselves!!
Do you know any really good celiac desserts? I'm trying to find a decent recipe for a cake or cookies or some shit. (I guess it doesn't really matter how complex the recipes are, just as long as they aren't god awful like a lot of the ones I've made.)
Culturally, western people have a lot of focus on sweet cakes and baked goods being your dessert, but as long as you consider that thing a treat, I think it counts. (I consider eating artichoke hearts to be dessert. They’re expensive and I love them, so it counts, so there)
Flan is caramelized sugar and milk productsA lot of East Asian desserts use rice flour - Asian stores sell “glutinous rice” - It doesn’t actually have gluten in it, it’s just a specific type of sweet and sticky rice. So Glutinous rice flour doesn’t actually have gluten - it’s named ‘Glutinous’ because it is glue-like and sticky and opaque white.
Which means you can have all sorts of east Asian rice-flour desserts. Mochi, rice flour chocolate cupcakes... As well as anything primarily fruit, cream, and syrup-based. Or rice flour pancakes, and drown them in maple syrup and pecans or strawberries. or CariocaSweet rice pudding. Corn normally doesn’t have the type of gluten that bothers celiacs, so that opens up ALL SORTS of South American and Mexican desserts. Plus just... straight up, normal cornbread is gluten-free.
Chocolate pudding. A billion variations of cream cheese spread to go on fruit, rice crackers, other cheese, bits of meat, etc. I feel like a lot of people, when they realize they need a special diet, try to keep their original diet with ‘replacement’ or ‘substitute’ parts.
Like a new vegetarian asking “Which vegetable is the meat?” There is no meat. You don’t need to eat faux-turkey or faux-steak - your meal will be SO much better without leaning on the ghost of what-could-be. - Enjoy what is open to you, luxuriate in the billions of flavors you can have. Removing gluten really hasn’t removed THAT many options, out of the INNUMERABLE HOARDE OF FOOD ITEMS AVAILABLE.
Just... try desserts that naturally don’t have gluten. There are TONS. TONS AND TONS AND TONS.
Don’t try to limit yourself to “Fake cookies” and just because cookies are familiar.
