i think the last 5 days of my life have been a hallucination

#1. brother hospitalized with no discharge date in sight #2. wiplash of international travel -> dogsitting -> hosting guests at my house #3. at work i’ve got people pushing promotions and all these job opportunities at me #4. got a call from the lady i dogsat for apparently the amazon driver ran over my work phone that i dropped in her driveway yesterday???????#(meaning it sat outside during the rain all last night?? and it still works LMFAO)#5. best friend called in tears bc she made a mistake and is now getting run out of her rec volleyball league for it which is her whole #community #6. speaking of community fighting my ass off to keep my neighborhood elementary school from being voted to close down tomorrow?????#7. speaking of schools one of my students had a med emergency and we had to get her in an ambulance last thursday and i had to #manage the rest of the kids to keep them from freaking out and they’re still all freaked from it #LITERALLY CAN WE ALL JUST LIKE CHILL #i need to clean my house before my friend comes to stay with me tomorrow wtf #oh and 2 days after she leaves i fly home for thanksgiving 🙃 god knows what that’ll be like

from a vibes perspective, i totally understand why so many people look at keefe and go ‘this guy would be the male equivalent of a wine aunt when he’s older’.

but. but.

taking lore into consideration, in my heart, he’s terrified of alcohol (even if he tries really hard to hide it). because. like. his first exposure is almost guaranteed to be through cassius, and cassius canonically threw a glass extremely close to him at least once when he was, like, 8. maybe cassius wasn’t always extra nasty when he was drunk, but there’s gotta be a correlation in keefe’s brain between risking getting seriously hurt (emotionally or physically) and alcohol consumption that’s really hard for him to shake.

Now that I'm a fanfic writer, I can't help but wonder what kinds of narrative themes I must've been missing all these years of reading fanfics because I sure as hell know I can't write a fic without somehow stumbling across a theme and running with it

#simu's two cents #inspired by the fact that I'm writing the superlantern arranged marraige au rn and I just realized that the central theme is consent.#i literally went ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh out loud. like a cartoon character.#that makes so much goddamn sense because it's an *arranged* marriaged and more than a little forced on each end too #so of COURSE consent is going to be the main theme of that trope. it's literally right there. the main point is figuring out consent #and ofc hal jordan: the guy who made superman cry thrice's theme is agency of the victim vs. safety #i use theme in the loosest sense. this post would make my ap lit teacher roll in her grave (she's still alive. just retired)#the main theme of american alien and the man born without fear is obviously being 'othered' and how different ppl react to that #embarcation is so on the nose and up front about the themes i don't even think i have to explain #for nice logical fallacy i guess it's internalized transphobia and toxic masculinity?#and then is somebody gonna match my freak (out)? was kinda just from a dream but is also abt consent?#and ofc this is kinda reductive like there's more than one thematic through-line in each of these fics and there's overlap too #but yeah.

still thinking about the experience i had at a con literally called queer con today cosplaying velma when someone showed me a picture of their daphne cosplay. after complimenting them i said “yeah, i ship velma and daphne together so—” only for them to interrupt me and say “EW EW EW NO. DAPHNE IS ASEXUAL”

i was so caught off guard like damn bro ok calm down please. it’s ok you think daphne is ace but they were really like ❌🚫🏳️‍🌈no gays or sapphic women allowed🏳️‍🌈🚫❌ at a queer convention and it was both so off putting and hilarious
