YOU'RE MARRIED!!? 2
Part 1
Cass: Ellie! What are you doing here, honey? Aren't you supposed to be with papa?
Ellie: Papa is busy with Uncle Dan. They asked me to go play with Mama for a little bit.
Cass: Uncle Dan? I thought papa and Uncle Dan don't get along well together?
Ellie: Yup. They always fight whenever Aunt Jazz invites them to dinner. But papa says there is some very important very secret job that they need to do. So they ask me to go play with you.
Cass: Do you know what they are doing, honey? Maybe I can help papa with his job. You know I am very good at fighting.
Ellie: But...
Ellie says as she looks at the people around her. Cujo has shrunk himself back into a small puppy and is currently standing guard behind Ellie. She trusts mama but she doesn't know these people.
Cass looking at her daughter's signal, understands her worry.
Cass: Don't worry, honey. They are my family. Over there are your other aunts and uncles.
Ellie gives a nod of understanding to Cass and puts the brightest smile she has on her face.
Ellie: Hello, everyone. I am Ellie Fenton. Nice to meet you.
All of them awaken from their shock, greet Ellie properly. Some of them restrain themselves from throwing themselves to Ellie to pick her up and dote on her. If not for Bruce still recovering from almost having a heart attack, he would have ignored everything and just doted on her while his children solved whatever problem there is.
Cass: Ellie.
Ellie: Yes, mama?
Cass: Can you tell us what happens now?
Ellie: Ummm, I actually don't really know myself. But I hear Uncle Dan cursing Plasmius and papa saying something about the timeline being messed with.
Everyone is immediately concerned about whatever Ellie is saying. The timeline being messed with usually is a league level threat. And yet here there is one and the only reason they get any news is because their newest family member is somehow related to it.
Tim: Ellie, who is Plasmius?
Hearing the question, Ellie looks at Cass to ascertain the trustworthiness of Tim. Getting a nod from Cass, Ellie then answers.
Ellie: Plasmius is my creator. He clones papa using papa's and his DNA because he wants papa to be his son. Papa saves me but because I am a girl, born from two male donors, I am unstable.
Tim: I don't think that is how clone works?
Ellie: That is what Doctor Frosty says. Oh yeah, mama. I have a gift from papa. Papa is afraid that he might not be free on your anniversary date.
Ellie pulls out a small box out of her pocket and gives it to Cass. Cass happily takes it while observing the box. From roughly looking at it, the box isn't anything special. Except a very beautiful carving of her name on it. Cass opens the box to reveal a beautiful black pearl necklace that has 2 miniature swans in the middle. One black and one white. Their heads form a heart shape while around them are stars shining brilliantly.
Cass puts on the necklace and sees there is a note inside of it.
I'm sorry that I can't join you, Cass. I have some important matters to handle, so I hope you can take care of Ellie while I am away. I will compensate our missed date with a better one later.
Have a good time with Ellie. I love you <3
Your husband,
Danny
Cass smiles as she reads the note. Keeping it inside her pocket, she returns her attention back to Ellie.
Cass: Ellie, papa says that you will stay with me for a while. Do you bring everything you need for a sleepover?
Ellie: A sleepover? With mama? Yaaayy. But I don't bring any clothes with me.
Suddenly, a green portal opens up and spits out a purple bag right onto Ellie. Ellie catches it and giggles happily.
Ellie: Thanks grandpa Clocky.
A sticky note with a thumbs up appears in front of Ellie and disappears in an instant.
Cass: Errmm, Ellie. Who is that?
Ellie: That's grandpa Clocky. He sometimes babysit me when he sends papa to do some work for him.
Steph: How did he do that?
Ellie: Grandpa Clocky can control time. He always knows when we need his help.
Jason: Well that certainly is entering his file.
Ellie then pulls out a box of apple juice from her bag and starts drinking it. Cass picks her up and as she holds her, Ellie leans her head towards Cass's shoulder.
Tim: They really do look like a mother-daughter duo.
Steph: Of course they are, idiot. They are literally mother and daughter.
Suddenly, Dick steps forward wearing the most friendly smile he has.
Dick: Hey, Ellie. My name is Richard. You can call me Uncle Dick.
Ellie: Hihihihi. Your name is a bad word.
Dick: Well, I guess it is a bad word. But I am Romani.
Ellie: Yes, Uncle Dick. Hihihi. You are funny.
Everyone's alarm blares at the same time when they hear the statement. They finally realized Dick's plan. How dare he try to get a headstart in securing the best uncle/aunt position.
Dick can feel the glare from everyone but as they say, early birds catch the worms.

Together - CHO HYUN-JU x Fem Reader Part 3
Summary: Reader is scammed and abandoned by her boyfriend, leaving her alone in South Korea to her fate, so in desperate search of a solution to return to her home country she decides to join the squid games to get money, within the game she meets a couple of people who become her friends and could possibly be something more.
Warning: Violence, homophobia mention of attempted rape and sexist language
----------------------------------------------------------------
◻○△ Hyun-Ju POV △○◻
The lights had barely gone out when Y/N had fallen asleep using one of her arms as a pillow and even though I was lying on my side, the space she used was still tiny, I could cover her with my arms and make her disappear without any problem.
The strands of her hair fell carefully and perfectly arranged around her head, some on her face where her long eyelashes adorned her cheeks, it was so strange to see and even more difficult to understand.
Previously, before I began with my identity recognition, my appearance attracted too many girls, many of them interested in my position and the economic benefits that this could bring to their lives, but I never felt attracted to them, they were all the same and empty.
But then why did I feel like this now? She could be my little sister, the fragile and sweet girl that I could take care of but my heart didn't feel that way, my stomach turned when she took my hand with fear, taking care that the bond didn't break so she wouldn't get lost from my side, my heart beat a thousand times faster when her eyes narrowed every time she smiled, my head spun every time she told me those words of encouragement making me see that I never made a mistake and that being who I am is no problem, she was the reason now for wanting to get out of this game and it didn't matter if I won the money or not, she was the best thing I had ever won.
Aren't you sleepy?…- she whispered making me jump slightly but I remained silent looking at her - don't pretend you're asleep… I can feel your gaze I'm sorry, I'm not sleepy yet..- I smiled at nothing feeling embarrassed for being discovered You should rest, tomorrow we will need strength to continue playing - her eyes barely opened illuminated with the warm light of the piggy bank - what are you thinking so much about? Thinking? What do you mean? - I looked at her curiously trying to pretend that everything was fine If you can't sleep, it's because your head is busy, what's wrong? - Damn, how did she know me so well? Just 3 days were enough for her to read me like the palm of her hand I was thinking… that… that this would be the last game we could play and then we would vote to withdraw from the competition - I smiled barely arranging a lock of her hair that covered her eyes I see, I was thinking the same thing, I don't want to be here anymore, when I get out I'll look for a job, no matter how bad the pay is, I just want to get out and go home - she sighed tiredly
If you don't mind telling me, now I would like to know why you decided to come to these games, what's your story?
Well… -she sighed deeply biting the inside of her lip a little and with another sigh she looked at me again- a year ago I met a guy online, he fell in love with me and he promised me that we would have a long and happy relationship, we went out for a couple of months just through messages and calls and one day he proposed to come to Korea to meet him and if everything went well I would stay with him to live and we would start a family, so… I quit my job and bought a ticket to come here… I met him and everything was going well but a couple of months later he… took all my money and disappeared, he barely paid the last month's rent and luckily they didn't throw me out but… -her gaze lowered sadly feeling ashamed- it was a stupid thing, I should never have trusted someone I didn't know
Men are disgusting… well.. you.. you understand - she laughed a little wiping her wet eyes - then you need the money for?..
To go back home, buy a plane ticket and go back to my country, I'm not welcome here and people have let me know in many possible ways, I just want to go with my family and start over what I left behind
Oh… - my heart felt like it was breaking into a thousand pieces, a part of me thought that by leaving this game she and I could get to know each other a little more, but she just wanted to run away from here, like I wanted and never hear from anyone else again - then… you'll leave
Yes I think so, but don't worry, once we get out we'll continue being friends and when I have a job I'll pay for all the necessary trips to visit you in Thailand - her eyes narrowed with the smile that formed on her lips, it was so comforting but at the same time so painful to hear that.
I didn't understand why it hurt, I had never felt that feeling of pain and abandonment in that sense, the sense of being in love with her.
Is something wrong? - Her small hand slowly touched my cheek making me focus my attention back on her just shaking my head smiling a little
Everything is fine, it's just that… I will miss my best friend as long as she doesn't come to visit me… - I lied and lied again when I told her I was sleepy and we had to sleep, I spent the night awake, watching her sleep once sleep overcame her again
The next morning, at the sound of the loudspeaker, everyone got up, as if so many hours had passed without even feeling the passage of time.
She barely woke up and jumped out of bed as if she had regained all the energy she had lost in the previous days, put on her shoes and almost ran down to greet Jun-Hee and ask her if she had slept well and if her baby had moved during the night. Y/N had barely found out that 222 was pregnant she kept asking her questions, excitedly showing that she couldn't wait for her turn.
Her authentic happiness made me feel much worse, it made me feel selfish, I wanted her for myself but I couldn't give her anything she wanted, I wouldn't give her the happy life, nor the family she dreamed of, it was a martyrdom and I only thought that I had made the worst decision to be the way I am now.
That is your punishment - the shaman laughed leaning on the bedposts - for following the wrong path that the gods wrote for you, now you will suffer, you love her but you will not have her
I don't know what you are talking about ma'am - I looked at her closing my sweater and arranging my hair with my fingers
Oh no? We are not stupid, we all know what you think when you look at her, how much you want to kiss her and show her that you love her but you don't, because you know that she doesn't like people like you, she only talks to you out of pity and she will never like you - the woman laughed, knowing that she had broken the last thing that was left in a piece inside me, she knew my secret and could use it against me to make me weak at any moment
Shut your mouth you damn bitch, you only know how to say shit, why don't you pray to the gods to give you a new brain uh? Get out of here - Geum-Ja confronted her pushing her away with her hands making the shaman go away laughing while I sat on the steps with my insides destroyed - girl, don't listen to her, that woman attacks where she knows she will truly destroy, don't give her that pleasure
She's right… - I looked at her sadly while she sat next to me brushing my hair with her fingers
Is she right? About we all know you have feelings for that girl? Of course she's right, but she'll never be right in stating what she feels or doesn't feel for you and we won't know until she tells you, maybe she sees you as an older sister or maybe as her best friend… -she smiled at me taking my hand- or maybe, deep inside, where no one knows her secrets, she feels for you the same as you do for her and it doesn't matter if you think you're not enough for her, when you're the right person for someone, all dreams come true
Do you believe in that? - I looked at her again feeling my lungs fill with air once again with her loving motherly smile
Of course, it doesn't matter what you were before or what you are now or if you are both girls, if love is sincere then love can do everything and I know you will fight to save yourself but especially her and I promise you that once we leave you two will go to my house and we will eat the best kimchi you have ever tasted, do you understand? - She laughed patting my back making me smile
''Players, it's time for a new game, please line up and leave in order following the masked soldiers''
Hyun-Ju, let's go - Y/N called me making me look at her quickly while she smiled
Go with her, I'll go with my son - Geum-Ja patted me again standing up as we both went down
Don't leave my side okay? - I looked at her as she nodded smiling and stood in front of me in the line of players
◻○△◻○△◻○△◻○△◻○△◻○△◻○△◻○△
The instructions had been clear and one thing was clear to me, I should not separate myself from Y/N at any time, she would be my priority in this game and no matter how many players there were, she would be the one who would always be by my side.
The platform spun to that traumatizing childhood song, everyone silently looking at each other
''10'' - The speaker spoke making us freeze
There are 4 of us, we need 6 more - Yong-Sik shouted desperately pulling his hair
Y/N! Here, there are 5 of us - Dae-Ho shouted pulling Y/N's arm making her look at him
There are 4 of us - I pulled her other arm bringing her back to me looking at him annoyed - Run to a room I'll look for one more
No Hyun-Ju I won't leave, let's go together - Y/N looked at me scared shaking her head
Don't worry, run! - I took her hand giving it to Dae-Ho making him pull her while I screamed looking for person 10 taking whoever the first person I saw was pulling her into the room
''10..9..8..7.''.- the speaker spoke making me nervous when I was able to enter the room and close the door almost fainting without oxygen in my lungs and the countdown reached zero we all looked at each other, the shots could be heard leaving us stunned as we caught our breath
Everyone is alive thanks to me! - the shaman shouted looking at us one by one - ah… I see why I'm here, to save your little friend's life - she laughed pointing at me
Don't start you damn crazy - Geum-Ja looked at her annoyed
As soon as the lock was removed and the door opened, everything was a bloodbath, we all walked in fear looking around confused when I felt a warm hand take mine.
You said we wouldn't separate… don't do that again - Y/N looked at me with her wet eyes
I'm sorry..- I smiled barely squeezing her hand walking slowly together so as not to slip with the blood on the floor
Again the song began to play and the platform turned again, this time with fewer players on it
''4'' - the speaker rang as soon as the song stopped making us look at each other
Run! Run now - I squeezed her hand pulling her as Geum-Ja and Yong-Sik followed us into the room and I closed the door leaning my back against it so no one could open it
This is so tiring… it's torture - Yong-Sik sat on the floor with his head in his hands desperate
Are you okay? - I looked at Y/N who was breathing heavily looking at the floor
Yes.. - she barely answered catching her breath
Again the lock opened letting us out, there was more blood and fewer people, the floor was sticky making our steps difficult until we reached the platform, once again the game began, the lights came on and the song played loudly
''3'' - the speaker announced making us look at each other again
What do we do? - Y/N looked at me scared
Come with me, we're doing in pairs and we'll look for someone - I grabbed her hand tightly, running screaming looking for someone, being pushed by Yong-Sik into the room
What are you doing here? Where's your mother? - I looked at him scared as he caught his breath
What?…what are you talking about? - he looked at me adjusting his misplaced glasses
The teams are 3 Yong-Sik, where did you leave your mother? - Y/N looked at him screaming upset
What? I understood 4, damn it - Yong-Sik tried to leave stumbling and throwing his glasses on the floor
This time Y/N let go of my hand and left quickly, grabbing Geum-Ja by the clothes skillfully by the back pulling her into the room with such force making her almost fall when she hit the wall and then she takes the door and closing it, now she was outside
No…Y/N NO, COME IN! - she looked at me through the gap in the door, her bright eyes looked at mine for the last time and then she ran - no, please no - the sound of the lock on the door rang and no matter how hard I pulled on it, it was impossible to open it
'' 10..9..8..7 ''
NO, NOT LIKE THIS, NOT HER - I looked at Geum-Ja pulling on my hair, my knees became weak making me fall on the floor as my tears fell
''6…5…4…3''
PLEASE DON'T KILL HER, DON'T SEPARATE HER FROM ME!..
''2…1…''

ʙɪᴛᴛᴇʀ, ᴋᴡᴏɴ ᴊᴀᴇ-ꜱᴜɴɢ

sypnosis. after a painful breakup that left you mentally scarred, you're forced to see kwon again, this time at the sekai taikai tournament. after successfully avoiding him many times, he finally got you to himself. the question is- will you go back to him again?
warnings. cursing, female reader & part of miyagi-do. kind of angst? the other 2 parts are up! click these; two, three
You arrived at the bar with the rest of the Miyagi-Do members. After many hours of rough training sessions and competition at the Sekai Taikai tournament, you all agreed it was fair to have some fun for a while.
The music blared through the speakers, every vibration being sent to your body. It was pretty full, but you weren't going to let that prevent you from having fun. Robby and Miguel went off on their own, as well as Demetri and Hawk. Devon had stayed back since she claimed to feel unwell, leaving you, and the female captain of your dojo alone.
You made your way to an empty spot, when you heard an all familiar voice call out to you. Looking up, you saw Sam, who sat next to you on the table, offering you a drink. "Here, you did great today by the way." She said with a smile.
Taking it from her hand, you took a sip. "Thanks, you did too." Not long after, Sam excused herself to take some fresh air outside, reassuring you she wouldn't take long.
As you were left alone, you eventually got bored and decided to go up to the bartender and order a stronger drink, which was probably a bad idea as you ended up drinking more than you intended to. Your vision was slightly blurred and your head was starting to throb.
"Ugh.." You groaned, pressing a hand against your forehead as you tried to walk out of the bar, stumbling on the way before you bumped against someone. Muttering an apology, you took a step forward when a hand grabbed your arm.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" A sharp, low voice practically hissed at you. You felt your heart stop as you recognized the voice all too well, bringing back painful memories you thought were already gone. You tried to get out of their grasp, but their hold became much more firm, making you unable to leave.
"Let me go," You said, your tone coming off more aggressive than you thought.
"And let you be with those guys who are practically eyefucking you?"
Clenching your fist, you finally looked up. Like you figured out, it was Kwon.
Memories of the breakup flooded your mind, reminding you of the pain you felt back then. It only made your head hurt even more–and your heart, too.
"I can handle myself, thanks." You mumbled, taking the opportunity to remove your hand away from his touch. "I don't have anything to talk to you about."
Kwon reached out to hold you again, this time an arm around your waist, pulling your back against his chest. "Actually, we do need to talk."
You shook your head in anger, attempting to get him off of you. Kwon dipped his head low in response, his lips beside your ear. "Do you really want to cause a scene right now?" He asked, his tone sending you shivers down your spine.
You reluctantly stopped moving, as Kwon took your hand and led you out of the bar, headed towards a dark alley. The air was very chilly, a stark contrast to the bar’s warm atmosphere. As soon as Kwon stopped walking, you yanked your hand out of his.
"Why did you even bring me here?"
"I didn't think you would be at the Sekai Taikai."
"But I am, what about it?"
"You keep avoiding me."
"Yeah. The same reason you ended our relationship turned out to be in vain." You retorted, voice wavering slightly. The alcohol was starting to affect you more by the second, causing you to hold onto the cold, rough wall behind you.
Kwon took a step closer to you, faint hesitation flickering in his eyes for a moment before disappearing just as quickly. He lifted his hand to cup your cheek, thumb gently stroking your skin. "Remember those nights we spent together?" He whispered.
You shook your head, feeling a wave of drowsiness overcome your senses. "Kwon..don't.." You said quietly.
"Let us try again," Kwon persisted. "Give me another chance..yeah?" He murmured, bringing your face closer to his. Your breath hitched at his actions, heart pounding.
"We can't." You pushed him away from you, making him slightly surprised. "We're in different dojos now. Focus on yours, and I'll focus on mine." Before you could continue any further, Sam spotted the both of you and quickly rushed over to your side, placing a hand on your shoulder as she glared at the male in front of you.
"Get out. Don't you dare get any closer to her." She threatened, before turning to look at you, concern evident in her eyes. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah.. let's just go." You replied while avoiding Kwon's burning gaze. Sam nodded, letting you hold onto her for support as she led you out of the place.
You couldn't look back, fearing you would break and go back to him. Although deep down, you knew Kwon would do his best to do just that.

A Room of Your Own
Married!WandaNat x Reader
Summary: After getting kicked out of your college dorm, you find yourself living with two older strangers. It was never meant to be anything more than a temporary arrangement born out of necessity, but as the semester continues, something new starts to grow.
CW: Homophobia, Getting Kicked Out, Slow Burn (No sex or romance in this chapter), Age Gap
Word Count: 1.9k
A/N: I’m back from the dead, though probably not in the way you wanted or expected. I had to take a (not so) little break from one-shots and smut for the time being for some personal reasons. But I’m still finding ways to write and enjoy myself. Some of you probably have already seen this. It’s been up on AO3 for a while now. But I figured I’d post it here too.
A/N: This is my first attempt at writing any sort of slow burn, so we'll see if I can resist having them all fall into bed together in the first few chapters. I also don't know how to write an introductory chapter without making it boring as shit, so I at least made it short to spare you all. I promise it gets better.
Chapter 1 of A Room of Your Own
You sat, knees curled to your chest, on the curb in front of what used to be your dorm. It was late, a little after midnight, and absolutely pouring rain.
Three days. You had been in the dorms for three days and you had already been kicked out. You’d expect some pushback, going to a religious college and being queer, but nothing like this. Nothing like getting kicked out of your dorm in the middle of the night because you were making your roommates uncomfortable. You’d tried so hard to get them to like you. They seemed sweet. Not your type of people, sure, but you thought the three of you could get along just fine.
As it turns out, they were actually so repulsed by your presence they couldn’t even wait until classes started to kick you to the curb. Literally.
“Hey!” Somebody shouted from the doorway, holding a large umbrella. You turned to see her approaching and shrunk back in on yourself. You didn’t think you could handle anymore ridicule that evening.
When you didn’t respond or turn to face her, she sat down next to you, sure to cover you with the umbrella as well. She spoke softer now. “Hey. I’m sorry for what happened back there.”
You still didn’t speak, but you looked at her now, partially soaked from where she was sitting next to you on the wet concrete. “I’m Yelena.” She reached her hand out for you to shake.
You shook her hand. “Y/N. Nice to meet you.” You recognized her from your dorm floor, though you’d only ever seen her in passing.
“It’s nice to meet you as well,” she smiled softly. “I wish it were under different circumstances.”
You nodded, turning your gaze back to the raining night.
“Do you have anywhere to go? For tonight I mean. I would offer you to stay in my room, but…” she turned back to the door of the building. You both knew you couldn’t go back in there.
You shook your head. You hadn’t even thought where you would stay tonight. You could always stay in your car. It wouldn’t be the first night you’ve slept in the backseat. Still, the sopping wet clothes would surely make for a morning full of rashes and blistered skin.
Yelena sighed, looking at the ground. She was silent for a moment before she came up with an idea. “Let me call my sister. She and her wife have a massive place not so far from here. They’ll have a bedroom or two to spare.”
Before you could form a rebuttal of any sort, Yelena pushed the umbrella into your hands and dashed back inside. You tucked the umbrella between your leg and the crook of your arm, resting your head on your knees.
It wasn’t very long before Yelena was by your side again. “Okay she’s on her way. She’ll be here in about 10 minutes.”
You didn’t look at her, facing intentionally in the other direction. You felt so horrible. You just wanted to curl up and disappear. And now you were going to be picked and taken to the home of some random classmate’s sister? You try to formulate a response, a reason that you will be fine on your own, but there was nothing. It was either this or the back seat of your 1993 Toyota Corolla. Somehow, you bet Yelena wasn’t going to take that as a reasonable explanation as to why she should call off her sister.
“Are you coming with me?” You asked weakly.
She sighed and put her hand on your back. “I wasn’t planning on it, but I will if you really want me to.”
You finally turned to face her. She didn’t look thrilled at the prospect of leaving. She was probably a freshman. It was her first couple days in the dorm too and everything was so new and exciting. The last thing she wanted to do was go back home with her sister.
“No it’s okay,” you responded. The last thing you wanted was to inconvenience someone else tonight, and it’s not like a freshman you hardly knew was going to bring you much solace anyway.
She patted your back. “They’ll take good care of you, I promise.”
Before too much longer, Yelena stood up at the sight of headlights. She waved her arms in an “over here” motion. The car approached Yelena, stopping hard in front of the curb you were sitting on. The tires splashed you in rainwater and mud. Yelena winched, walking back towards you to usher you into the car.
She led you to the passenger door, popping it open and peeking her head in. “This is your girl,” she said, pointing back towards your soaked, mud covered figure. She motioned for you to sit.
You hesitated. The car looked nicer than any you’d ever been in before. The idea of ruining the nice leather seats made you want to shrink further into your ball of shame.
The woman in the driver's seat noticed your hesitation, but didn’t seem the slightest bit concerned with her seat. “Come on in,” she ushered. “Get out of that rain.”
You handed the umbrella back to Yelena, reluctantly taking a seat in the car. Yelena peaked her head back in to say “take care of her,” before closing the door and scurrying back into the dorms.
The woman looked at you, reaching up to pop on the overhead light. The sight of her in the light nearly took your breath away. She looked oddly familiar. Maybe you’d seen her around town. You sharply inhaled as the most beautiful woman you’d ever seen leaned over the console towards you. She frowned. “Oh you poor thing!” She reached out to wipe off your face. You cringed when you saw the mud smear across the sleeve of her jacket. “Let’s go home and get you cleaned up.”
You nodded and she turned the light off before pulling out of the parking lot. You fought the urge to curl up in her passenger seat, fearing further ruining her seats with the dirty bottoms of your shoes. When you didn’t speak, she offered up an introduction of her own. “My name is Natasha. I don’t know what Yelena’s told you, but I’m her sister. My wife and I have a place not so far from here.”
“I’m Y/N” you managed.
“A friend of Yelena’s?” She asked.
You chuckled a little. “I suppose you could say that. We met about 20 minutes ago.”
Natasha chuckled. “Of course. Leave it to Yelena to seek you out after such an injustice.”
You bit the inside of your lip. You wished you had heard the phone conversation so you could gauge just how much she knew.
It was as if Natasha could read your mind when she started next with the details of the phone call. “Yelena told me you got kicked out of the dorm by the other girls. They were uncomfortable because you were gay? I never expected to hear anything like that happening in 2024, but I guess I stand corrected.”
Well, that was one way of telling the story. At least Yelena had left out the peeping Tom allegations that got you chased off the floor by everyone who had to share a bathroom with you. They weren’t true, of course, but the fact that you’d made people so uncomfortable they were willing to name you a pervert without second thought made your skin crawl.
After a short, largely silent car ride, Natasha pulled the car into a garage. You hadn’t gotten a good look at the house, both because of the dark and getting lost in your own thoughts, but even by the state of the garage you could tell it was nice.
Natasha got out of the car, unlocking the door and leading you into the kitchen. You took your shoes off by the door, then decided to take your socks off too to avoid tracking muddy water through the house. The woman took your hand and guided you to the stairwell, then to a bathroom. She turned on the lights and opened up a cabinet, pulling out fresh towels and washcloths.
“I’ll get you some fresh clothes and sheets. The bedroom is through here.” She opened a door that revealed a sizable bedroom connected to the bathroom. You could hardly believe this wasn’t the master suite she’d led you too.
She turned to face you, exhaling as she once again took in your disheveled state. She picked some errant pebbles from your tangled hair and wiped it out of your face. “Now,” she started, “do you need anything else before I let you get cleaned up and off to bed?”
You shook your head. “No. You’ve done enough already. Thank you, Miss Natasha, for letting me stay here. It means a lot. Truly.”
“Of course.” She smiled. You didn’t notice the blush that crept onto her face at the formality. She swiped away the hair that had fallen in front of your eyes again. “We wouldn’t want a sweet girl like you sleeping out in the rain.” She booped the tip of your nose. “Now promise you’ll wake me or Wanda up if you need anything at all. We’re just in the room across the hall. Can’t miss it, it’s the only door on that side.”
You nodded slowly. There was no way in hell you were going to wake her or Wanda, who you assumed was her wife, for any reason. But you nodded anyway.
She smiled and rubbed your chin. “Good girl. Now go get cleaned up and try to get some rest.”
As she set off to her room, you hoped the mud had covered how pink your cheeks had gotten. You headed to the shower, sliding open the glass door and turning on the water. You decided to hop in with your clothes at first, hoping to get enough of the mud off that you could wear them again tomorrow. Then you wrang the clothes out and threw them over the door to dry. You took your time in the shower, letting the hot water warm you up from the cold rain. By the time you were finally clean, you grabbed the fresh towel Natasha had left for you.
Your clothes were, obviously, still soaked save for your underwear. You were thankful for the little time it had taken the thin silky material to dry. You put them back on and wrapped yourself in a towel before entering into the bedroom.
There was a maroon hoodie at the end of the bed. It had been there since Natasha first showed you the room, so it clearly wasn’t laid out for you. However, in lieu of other clothes, you decided the owner probably wouldn’t mind if you borrowed it for the night. You slipped the soft fabric over your head. It was much too big for you, going down to almost your mid thighs while the sleeves dangled over your hands. But it was, quite possibly, the softest material that you’d ever felt. It felt simultaneously brand new and freshly washed.
You crawled up into the queen sized bed, slipping under the covers. You held the fabric of the hoodie close to your face. It smelled nothing like the musky bergamot of Natasha, which had been equally as entrancing in its own way. This was distinctly different. It smelled soft and comforting like lying in a meadow on a spring day. The comforting smell and warmth, along with your own exhaustion, quickly had you asleep.

Other kind of demon
Hello everyone, here goes the next part of this little thing I started, again, thank you sm for the love u all give me, it means a lot to me, rlly!
Again, English is not my first language, so any error of grammar can happen in here lol
Chapter 1, Chapter 3
More singing demons.
Y/N stood quietly in there, the men weren't moving, it was like they were analyzing her, searching for something. She was not scared, she could easily run away from them with whatever they tried.
"You're not a human." One with black hair said, it was hard to know that they were different since they were wearing the same clothes, almost as a uniform, the only thing that made them different, was their hair.
"Wow, you deserve an award, you just discovered gravity." Y/N rolled her eyes, demons tend to point out obvious things, but please, they still seemed humans.
"Why are you here? I thought Gwi-Ma just let us out." He spoke again, the other four just stared, as if they couldn't talk.
"Gwi-Ma sent you?" The man nodded, making Y/N roll her eyes, it was probably a bad thing that they were there. "May I know for what?"
The man whit lavender hair growled— literally, getting a slight jump from the girl, he looked more human, but why was he acting like a dog?
"You're not one of us, are you?" One with pink long hair spoke up after that for Y/N's surprise.
"Why would you say that?" She turned around to look that the men started to get closer to her.
"He doesn't trust you, and he don't usually gets agressive with demons." He said again.
"I mean, the 'usually' is key." She shrugged, until she felt a hand on her shoulder, it was the first man that talked to her.
He wasn't dead, she felt that, but still, she noticed some vague memories return to her, making her push him away.
"Interesting, your patterns didn't show up." Oh, so it was for that.
"You're the traitor!" The other pink haired man laughed, grabbing her arm with a grin. "Gwi-Ma will probably do us more favors if we bring you back."
She stayed still, quiet, thinking. She needed to stop remembering, to scape or this men will probably be a problem.
She quickly turned her own body into a shadow, disappearing from the men's gaze to only go to the rooftop of a near house, watching them, her eyes shining, not with gold, instead with a shade of blue.
"What makes you think I would let you bring me back to Gwi-Ma?" She chuckled, the 5 men, concerned about where was she, searched for her, the first one to find her was the one with blue hair, moving to also be on the same rooftop.
"You're weird, how could you even leave Gwi-Ma?" The man started to fight with his claws, useless against the shadows surrounding him, but he was trying.
"Long story, why are you here?" The others quickly joined the 'fight', amusing to Y/N's eyes, since they were trying to get rid of literal shadows.
"Souls, what else." The black haired one said. "And for the hunters, of course."
"Ohh, I get it, he sent me with a similar reason." She maked the shadows disappear, making the one with pink short hair fall as he tried to reach one. "You do know he probably won't do whatever he told you, right?"
"It probably didn't work for you because you never returned." The blue haired chuckled, looking that their friend that was still on the ground.
"Well, there are other ways to survive." She made presence again, her full demon form showing up. "I could show you."
The more demons souls she consumed, the more powerful she got, it was a win-lose situation. She could kill them more easily, at the cost of the voices, she didn't like it, but it was what it was.
The men stepped backwards, doubting about the truth of her words.
"She is a danger for our species." Gwi-Ma told them before letting them be on the human world. "She betrayed us, is one of the hunters, never trust her, I made the mistake to make her powerful, more than I should have."
"You're a traitor to the demons, why should we hear you?" The one that she started to assume was the leader asked.
"That's probably something Gwi-Ma made up so demons won't hear me." She was cut mid sentence.
"He said you're with the hunters too."
Oh well, that wasn't a lie at all.
"Well, that might be true." She hummed, crossing her arms. "But I got rid of the voices, and I think that's not betrayal, it's just- being freed."
"If you're whit the hunters, why would you help us?" The long pink haired one spoke again.
"You are still humans." Her gaze darted to the lavender hair. "At least you still look like ones."
A silence stayed in the place, until the leader spoke up again.
"We're here to do a boy band and get the fans from Huntrix, to destroy the Honmoon." He muttered, her body changing to his human form, being followed by the others.
"As I said, Gwi-Ma send me for the same thing, and that's how I got freed." She did the same, returning to be a human. "If you want to know how, just let me know."
With that, a 'puff' sound appeared and she disappeared, back in an alley, finally letting out her breath, like she wasn't even breathing back with damn.
This could go both horribly wrong or absolutely great.
Hi hello, I’m badly obsessed with Abby now that I think about it, anyway, here my friends, eat, eat

I had so much fun making this!!!🫣🫣 hope you enjoy reading this too🥹🥹 changed the timeline a little bit for the story. Max is an ass, sorry. I love Max really but the story needed it
Drifting Into Love
Face Claim- Kim Hye yoon. (Every thing is fiction)

Max was back the next day. Y/N returned from Belgium and was waiting for Max in her apartment in Monaco. Max was one of the very few people who knew that Y/N came from wealth. Her parents had raised her humbly in hopes that the money won't get to her head and she would be a kind and compassionate human. Right now, she felt anything but kind. She felt like smashing Max to a pulp. How dare he lie to her and who does he think he is to humiliate her like this. If he loved her, he should've stayed with her, she thought.
Max stumbled into her house in a panic. "Schat, why are you here?" Max asked trying to hug her. "What do you mean?" she asked. "I mean't why aren't you home?" he asked. She chuckled. "Max, I will not be in a cheater's house, god knows who all you've brought over." she said shaking her head. "I never brought anyone home. And as for Kelly this was a prior arrangement and I couldn't get out of it" he reasoned. "Then you should've told me. I would've come along. But you lied, you knew what you were doing is wrong, that's why you lied to me." she retaliated. "I, Y/N, schat....please" he stuttered. "You have nothing to say Max, also don't call me that. I'm not your girlfriend." she said. "Don't say that" Max said. "I don't care if you love Kelly, I just wish you hadn't lied to me." she lamented. "I'm sorry, I'll do better. I promise" he tried reasoning. "Max, you don't need to. You clearly still love her. I do not plan on being a home wrecker. I hope you both are happy" Y/N said. "Won't you fight for this? our relationship" he asked now in tears. "No, we stopped being a couple the moment you went back to her" she said with a stoic expression. "I'm sorry. You deserve better" Max said hoping she would stay. "I agree. Now can you leave, I have some work to do" she said ushering Max out.
Unbeknownst to Max, she had cried. The all of yesterday, really and Charles and Lewis were ready to kill Max. She some how convinced them not to. They had spent the whole night consoling her and taking care as she tried to mend her broken heart.

"Yeah, my best friends said they missed me so.." she said. "Ah yes, Lewis and Charles" Max mulled. "I'll get going then" she announced. "No, wait" Max stopped her. "I'm sorry" he apologised. "For what?" she asked. "For hurting you. I really did like you." he explained. "me too." she lamented. "Can't we try again" he proposed. She let out a big and loud laugh, making Max embarrassed and heads turn. "Sorry Max, but that ship sailed long ago. Aren't you still with Kelly, though?" she asked. Max didn't say anything. "Don't flip flop, love a woman correctly and truly. Also, I'm engaged." she said pointed at her left hand which had a beautiful large diamond on the ring finger which looked like it had found it's rightful owner. "Wish you good luck and Congratulations on the championship last year" she called out while she walked away. Max could only stare at her as she disappeared from his sight.

RK: *tucking team RWBY+Neo in*
6 yo Blake: *timidly* Jaune?
RK: *smile* Yes Blake?
Blake: Can you... Tell us a story?
RK: *chuckle* Again? At this rate, i'll be out of stories in a matter of days!
Team RWBY+Neo: *making Puppy eyes*
RK: *rolling his eyes, in a playful manner* Oh alright. *Take a seat on the edge of the bed* What kind of story would you all like?
Yang: *excitedly* Oh, oh, i want to know about your epic adventures!
Blake: *nodding along* That'd be nice!
4 yo Ruby: *yawn* Maybe something with Juniper?
Neo: 🤔🐇⌚🫵?
RK: *pensive* Hm... The day i first met Juniper, huh? *Nod* Alright, is that fine with everyone?
RWBY+N: *nod*
RK: *chuckle* Good. *Clear his throat* It was a long time ago... Before any of you were even born.
_ _ _
RWBY + Neo: *sleeping peacefully*
RK: *gently closing down the door*
???: That's not how i remember that day. Didn't you trap her for food and subsequently felt too bad to eat her?
RK: *taking a deep breath, turning around to see the curious cat laying in front of the fireplace* What are you doing here?
CC: *Chuckle* Don't worry, i'm not here for them. Besides, what would you want me to do with a child's body? Die in the first encounter i'd have with those Grimm you talk me about?
RK: Then why are you-
CC: I'm bored.
RK: *massage his temples* I figured that much already. What other reasons, i meant.
CC: For once, it's actually the only reason i have. You can't expect me to be scheming all the time, do you?
RK: ... *Walk towards his chair, sitting next to a sleeping Juniper* I don't have much to talk about; The Brothers knows we already went over everything i had to offer-
CC: How has it been?
RK: *blink* Excuse me?
CC: *smiling playfully* How has it been? You know, taking care of kids, acting like a dad with real people.
RK: ... *Pensive* I guess... It was nice. I have to cook for them, clean after them, play with them... *Chuckle* Even if she's 4, Ruby's still invincible at tags, Blake's a complete ninja when playing hide and seek, and Neo has been teaching everyone how to do sign language. Weiss and Yang are actually getting pretty good at it.
CC: Is that so?
RK: *small laugh* Oh yeah, they are fast learners... *Sigh* You know, i really want them to get back at being adults as quickly as they can... But...
CC: But?
RK: *gently caressing Juniper* But... There's a part of me who'd like for them to stay that way. To see them grow up here, where there's no Grimm or Salem to fear, no quest to save the world... *Shake his head, looking sad* But that wouldn't be fair for them. Nor would it be fair for their families.
CC: They remind you of your family.
RK: *looking at the fireplace, melancholy in his voice* It has been many years since i've forgot their faces. But in a way, they do... They give me a sense of familiarity that i lost before even arriving in the ever after. *Sigh, then smile* I'm just glad that the wait will soon be over. I think... I think i deserve some vacations... Right? *Look towards the cat, who had disappeared* ... *Chuckle* I wish you good night, for old times sake.

hey babe! how are you doing? hope you are doing fine :) I know you are probably full with requests or projects, so please don't feel pressure to answer this :( But I was wondering, how do you think Mattheo would be once he realizes he is in love/developing feelings? Do you think he would try to push them away at first?
. 𖥔 ࣪˖ hello bae, i'm doing fine, tysm for asking! i am a little overwhelmed, however !! i hate the idea of discarding/ignoring the asks i receive <3 everyone is so lovely here. it ended up being a full-on lengthy thought... thank you for interacting!
THE (CATASTROPHIC) ART OF FALLING IN LOVE ; mattheo t. riddle.
mattheo doesn't know how to react to being in love with someone. one thing is physical attraction — mattheo is acquainted with the feeling of desiring someone, perhaps lusting over some physical contact here and there.
but that's something that eventually disappears, like a wave that comes at full force and fades into a gentle touch at the shore, drawing back to the large ocean. mattheo can be so attracted to someone today, then perceive them as someone who mingles with the crowd like, less than a month later. the problem here is that when feelings develop, they linger — and stay, for longer than one can control.
and why would that be a problem? well.
mattheo isn't used to attachments.
for someone who's been passed from hand to hand, born from two people who wanted to conceive power rather than someone to love, mattheo taught himself to rationalize that everything is temporary. that death eater lady who took care of him during his toddler years? yeah, somewhere along the way he was sent to another couple, then to someone else, and that formed a sequence of bad, worse and less bad historic of mattheo riddle's caretakers.
things are temporary. dangerous feelings like attraction — mattheo knows that lust can easily be mistaken with love — are meant to be short lived. desire, conquer, fulfill, abandon. and that's that.
but developing feelings for someone — merlin forbid, falling in love — is a much longer process. like falling asleep, one falls in love, sometimes for reasons that not even merlin himself could properly explain. mattheo doesn't like the vulnerability; one thing is wanting to fuck someone, another totally different thing is wanting to hold hands just because, spend time together for the hell of it without expecting some sort of carnal reward in return.
mattheo riddle fucking hates it.
because in a selfish world where the strongest suffer the least, mattheo can't afford weaknesses. he's already alone, very much prejudiced because of his recent and ancient bloodline, not a wizard with many people who would defend him.
so to want to protect someone, when he should focus on protecting himself, is dangerous. it's foolishness. it's another weight to his already heavy shoulders.
and this, anon, so i can give you the right context to why mattheo's first instinct is to be fucking angry about this stupid person that stole his well guarded heart. because mattheo doesn't have an history of exemplary adults to look up to, he can be, hm... childish. even in his anger, the way he seeks solutions for his problems can either be violent (mhm, to assert dominance) or some stupid shit that apparently, makes sense to him.
said stupid shit is sending an anonymous letter that goes straight to the point.
get the fuck out of my school, you freak.
very mature. definitely meant to provoke the desired outcome.
for a good while, probably during the time span of mattheo slowly — veeeery slowly — coming in terms with his feelings, mattheo goes through the five stages of grief.
DENIAL, even though the handful of slytherin outcasts he can count as friends will use any. given. chance. to absolutely wreck mattheo's patience with jokes regarding how much he's in love — which he isn't, thank you fucking much. mattheo will deny to his very grave that he couldn't care less about her; at most, sure, she's kinda cute and even stunning on days that he's more distracted and less guarded, but that's it! lust, everyone! hormonal boys being boys, alright?! nothing romantic about that.
even though he can't help but follow her with his eyes, mentally distant from whatever conversation to see her walking by. the sight of her existing totally unaware of him, probably hurts so good that it sends mattheo into another wave of denial. even if he was in love, it wouldn't work — so there's no feelings involved.
are doomed children even able to get such good things? no, mattheo assumes not.
ANGER, because these little things start to accumulate a heavy burden to his fragile patience. like a mad dog waiting for the chance to bite, mattheo starts warning draco and pansy to shut up about the puppy-in-love jokes, and even gives a warning glare to theodore and blaise, hoping that there's some peace from their side, too. mattheo feels like exploding whenever he's given lame advices for corny situations.
it's anger, because sometimes, mattheo thinks that he can't feel anything else.
BARGAINING, whenever the evidence becomes too obvious to ignore. at this point, mattheo has to, begrudgingly, admit that his excuses are so stupid that it gives him secondhand embarrassment for himself. for fuck's sake, voldemort's son excusing his lovesick actions for must-have-been-the-wind kind of excuse.
the gradual path to acceptance, although through baby steps, forces mattheo to reinforce the idea that he's in control of this whole situation.
if-only's are followed by what-if's, like a push and pull sort of situation, where mattheo sways between a stage of anger and denial, while unknowingly crawling his way to depression and acceptance.
DEPRESSION, because how can he convince someone to put up with his shit for longer than what, one night stand? despite his terrible reputation, there are girls more than willing to make out in a corner of some dorm party, or even more than that for the hell of it. but more than that? nah, no one is crazy enough to do that — remember? lust and love can be mistaken, but in mattheo riddle's case, it's easy for people to distinguish it with him. so yeah, just his luck.
as much as his friends might try to help him, mattheo is hardly convinced. it seems some stupid karmic trial sent his way, because he is, supposedly, not struggling enough. sure, throw some heartbreak and highschool failed romance on his way.
the whole 'depression' stage is filled with overthinking. either silly daydreaming of what will never happen, to following the sight of her everywhere she happens to exist where he does, too. then, it happens to be unintentionally noticing very little things about the person he likes — and convince himself that it only serves as more incompatibility, because you'd have to be crazy to be with someone whose surname happens to be riddle.
yeah, some things just aren't meant for him, are they?
ACCEPTANCE, however, is the stage that finally offers some peace of mind to him. mattheo accepts that bargaining and getting angry at his feelings won't do shit — by now, he's used to the whole butterfly-stomach-bs that some fourth-years were chanting about in the great hall, and the natural anxiety he feels whenever she's near. the tingling in his fingers, because he wants to touch, to protect, to be equally loved too, but ends up being another fistful on his pockets' fabric in the end.
unfortunately, this acceptance might only be fully achieved upon some major event. mattheo has to act subconsciously to accept that there's no way around it anymore — he's in love, he wants this person in the least selfish way possible, and he's fucked because of this.
if you want my opinion, the easiest trigger to this stage would be anything that sparks mattheo's protectiveness. the moment that he feels good about having helped her, it's over. mattheo isn't his own priority anymore — she is.
after trying to push her away, even if that means to distance himself from every little thing that reminds mattheo of her and, consequentially, his weak feelings for this girl, mattheo will surrender to it. this time, he carefully reapproaches her — tiptoeing his way back, ambitioning for a possible connection, or the slightest friendship that allows him the peace of being in her presence.
it could take a good amount of time for mattheo to convince himself that he can, and should, take a chance. it's not the same as flirting with someone into getting something carnal out of it — it's the attempt to open a potential door for a relationship, which he really, really wants to, even though mattheo has no good examples of it. at fucking all.
but for her?
he'll try.
and merlin help him if he won't even read some stupid book to properly understand it. give him a chance — and he'll be a good boyfriend.
as good of a boyfriend as bellatrix lestrange and the dark lord's lovechild can be.

Teahouse Jealousy
"He was honest about his desires. That is a swordsman who knows the shape of his soul."
~
Things have been building for a while. Mizu is happy to avoid the topic, in favor of focusing on her mission. Finding yourself exasperated, you accept some help from an unexpected source.
~~
A/N: ITS DONE, FINALLY. Fucking 7600 WORDS of slow-burn mutual pining, bad communication, and jealousy. But hey, I did manage to fit in some spice at the end, hey?
Anyway, this is my first actual fic on here, so lmk what you guys think? Should I stick to lists? :,)
WARNING: this is REALLY LONG. I'm very sorry.
TW: jealousy, mentions of murder, mentions of sex work, SPICE
For this outing, Mizu insists on the boy disguise, your least favorite. You greatly prefer it when you can pretend to be her wife (of course), or even possible meat for the flesh market–because then she plays it up, a hand on your lower back, her voice dropped to an extra raspy register. But that last one is rare; you know the cost that playing that role seems to take on her, and you don't encourage it, despite the tingles it sends up your spine.
And you certainly don't complain about the freedom the boy disguise gives you for movement. But it does limit your ability to speak, as well as blocking your ability to get close to her side…you would never admit the reason you don't like it, but your reproachful expression says enough. She huffs out a sigh.
“Nobody brings a maiden to a brothel. You'll make us look odd,” she tells you, in the tone of voice that brooks no argument.
You wilt further the second she mentions a brothel, zoning out Ringo’s anxious questions; it was bad enough clenching your fists and staying silent while those two women ran their hands over her in Kyoto; now she's actually seeking such a place out? Your stomach squirms. Kyoto, and every moment of that visit, are burned into your brain. You share a trepidatious look with Ringo. You vow not to leave her side for even a second.
~~
Your explicit instructions were to “just look flustered and don't say anything”. That's not hard. You avoid eye contact with the working girls, and stare down at the table while you all wait for Kaji. The atmosphere of sexuality is stifling; it mingles strangely in your stomach with your feelings for Mizu, leaving you feeling on-edge, paranoid about being caught out. You could almost believe that these women, of anyone, will be able to smell the desire on you at a single glance. You've got Mizu’s fingerprints denting the very clay of your soul.
Madam Kaji, when she appears, does nothing to set those fears at rest. Her voice may be melodic, but you can feel her eyes scrape over you like a razor, as if they could peel back your skin and see underneath. You do your best to mimic Mizu's flat stare; after this long traveling together, you usually manage rather well. You've even managed to shoo off a few bothersome pests of your own in the past. This time, though, there's a hard edge to her smile that makes you wonder how much slipped through.
~
For all Ringo says about an apprentice should stay with his master, you somehow seem to lose sight of him in the walk from the corner where you were sitting to the hallway Madam Kaji pauses in. You remain by Mizu’s side. You don't feel any scorn towards Ringo for this. Nobody could say he isn't as loyal as they come, but desire is a powerful force.
Desire. Need. It's why Ringo disappears, and why you don't. He has his own desires to attend to, and you can respect that. But there's nothing in this brothel that you desire more than what you're already standing next to.
Madam Kaji motions to a small pocket of light at the base of one of the hallway panels. There’s a pause. When Mizu doesn't move to look through the peephole, Madam Kaji motions in your direction. “Perhaps the gentleman's apprentice would like to show him that desire is nothing to shy away from?”
You freeze like a cornered deer, meeting her taunting gaze with wide eyes. Her expression says it all; there's a test in this somewhere, a challenge.
Where the hell is Ringo. Trust him to be gone when there's something he would actually want to do. Nevermind on that whole no-scorn thing! You're going to kick him next time you see him.
Your pleading glance at Mizu produces no reaction; she doesn't even look your way. She's simply glaring at Madam Kaji. Challenges have never bothered her; if she doesn't want to do something, she just doesn't. Ugh. Someone needs to do something.
You look through the hole.
…Hm.
Honestly…it's not that bad.
Strange, certainly. The men in ropes, the writing, but you find yourself privately siding with Madam Kaji; it's nothing shameful. Just more of what you had observed while waiting in the main teahouse room. They're not bothering anybody. You consider that there have been worse atrocities you've seen in your travels with Mizu, all the way back to your first meeting.
You shrug up at Mizu. It’s nothing she'll be interested in, nor that she needs to see. She just looks even more impatient at the delay, fingers tapping on her crossed arms. The expression she shoots at Kaji is her classic get on with it glare.
Smirking, Madam Kaji motions to the final peephole. By now, you've lost your hesitation. If you feel anything, you're relieved that this is the last one. This shuffling around on your knees is not only making them sore, it's embarrassing to do with two people standing silently over you, eyeing each other warily.
You peer in.
At first glance, it seems to be just a man and a woman–nothing so strange as the other ones. The man is dressed in dark blue, his hair tied up in a knot like Mizu’s. But then the girl turns to the man, pushing his yukata off his shoulders; it's not a man, but another girl, bared to the touch of the first woman. They kiss, bodies molding together with no hesitation.
You tumble back abruptly, eyes wide, feeling your face flush so fast that the skin on your neck is prickling.
“What? What?” Momentarily distracted from glaring, Mizu looks startled by your reaction. When you shake your head in silence, worried that explaining would give your secret away, she glares suspiciously at Madam Kaji. She's clearly bristling at your apparent distress, assuming you've had a trick played on you. She reaches down to haul you to your feet with a rough tug to your arm, shoving herself half in front of you. “What did you show-...him?”
Kaji’s eyes narrow a fraction at Mizu’s brief stumble on your pronouns, and she smiles, sharp as a knife. With a little click, she slides the peephole shut. “Desire. A complicated thing,” she murmurs in that teasing, seductive tone. “We are not always ready to face it when it first finds us.”
She slides open another full panel, revealing a pleasantly decorated little room. A couple of the girls are in there, already, setting up a table with ink and paper. They look up and giggle when they see you both, their eyes lingering on your flushed cheeks. You can feel them darken again under the scrutiny, and drop your eyes to the mat until the girls leave. When you hear the panel slide shut, you look up to see Madam Kaji’s eyes on you. As soon as you make eye contact, her gaze slide away, to Mizu.
She doesn't look at you again until the moment of Mizu’s proposal.
You both can see the moment that the refusal in Kaji’s eyes wavers, but something else flickers in their depths when she glances between you, and you know what's coming. She wants to talk to Mizu alone.
With Mizu's husky name your desire still bouncing around in your head, obliterating your every other thought but how much you want her, Kaji's desire to exclude you makes you want to bite the woman like a territorial dog. You take a half-step closer to Mizu as Kaji suggests that she take a walk with the gentleman “one-on-one”.
“Perhaps the gentleman’s apprentice would like to enjoy some of the pleasures of my teahouse while…he waits?” She asks sweetly, her smile warm and her eyes hard as gemstones.
Mizu looks at you expectantly, seemingly unbothered by this; she'd probably agree to making you wait on the roof if it got her the information she wanted. You shake your head instead, giving her a look of incredulity in return. Obviously no. When is she going to start trusting you to stay at her side? What do you have to do to prove yourself?
“I haven't got any money,” you reply cleverly, keeping your voice as hushed as you can to disguise it, your eyes flicking up to meet blue orbs like a challenge. You can't really refuse, given that you're playing at master-and-apprentice, but you can make it hard. She can't keep shutting you out. Not this time; now you have an excuse. What prostitute will keep you busy for no money?
A brief light of pure, gremlin devilment comes into her eyes–it doesn't happen often that her rare sense of play is roused, but from what you've seen, that never means good things for the recipient. You should have known better; Mizu never tolerates being maneuvered into allowing something she doesn't want.
She holds the money bag out to you with a little shake to jangle it, and you deflate visibly.
For a moment, there's an unspoken moment of confusion and communication both ways; at first, Mizu holds the money bag out with an almost teasing smirk, clearly indicating let’s see how you manage this one. She doesn't see any danger in it. You can always just sit in the room alone. She's only interested in making a point; this is about negating your excuse.
But when you slump with such an obvious air of rejection, the playfulness drops from her gaze, replaced with a bemused concern. She'll be back in a handful of minutes, why is it such a big deal? This isn’t your fight, you don't need to be here to begin with, much less be stuck with her every moment of the day. So… why does she feel such a pang at your hurt face? You in turn see the momentary flash of confused guilt in her eyes, before she drops the money bag in your hands.
It startles you. You didn't expect that she would care.
Madam Kaji, watching all this and not missing a single beat, says nothing. She claps sharply. Two girls pop out of what seems to be nowhere, taking your hand with an air of false promise in their eyes.
“Ooh. you’re a pretty one,” one purrs, tilting her head with carefully practiced flirtation.
“We almost never see any young and pretty boys,” the other concurs. It’s like being slowly engulfed by the coils of a very nicely perfumed snake. At Madam Kaji’s nod, you’re tugged away, looking over your shoulder at Mizu with a distinct air of betrayal. You fully expect her to turn away, but she keeps staring as the girls lead you back into the room, her expression unreadable.
Even after the door slides shut, she doesn’t move, listening to the giggling emanating from inside, her hand clenching unconsciously on the hilt of her sword. It takes a prompt from Madam Kaji to get her moving again. Face snapping into its usual scowl, she turns and stalks away, leaving Kaji to try and match Mizu’s longer stride in the confines of her kimono.
~
“So, pretty apprentice, what can we do?” Asks the one in green, her dark eyes sparkling as they flick to the money bag still clutched in your hand. “How can we serve your pleasure?”
As attached to Mizu as you are, you’ve never been flirted with by a woman before, and you can’t help the blush. But even that isn’t enough to distract you from the melancholy of being left behind like a pet yet again. Waiting in the cold for hours on the bridge to Shindo Dojo, left in town with Ringo in Mihonoseki, watching her leave with Taigen down that narrow chasm… You shake your head, mouth twisting in tandem with your guts. What if Mizu never comes back? You know the trick she played on Ringo; you giggled about it at the time, you recall guiltily. But you can’t track like he can, even if you’re faster than him. And if she leaves you alone for something like this, what is she planning for the actual attack on Fowler? Maybe you really are just a burden she can't figure out how to shake…
“Why so sad?” The one in gold asks, her sympathy syrupy-sweet. She puts a hand on your arm, but you shift away.
“I'm sorry,” You say, distractedly. You aren't watching your tone as well as you should be. “I would rather be alone. Thank you.”
Silence. They don't move to leave, nor do they try to further convince you. You look up from your despair after a moment, becoming aware of their lack of response.
They're both staring. Studying you. Then they look at each other.
Before you can parse why, the gold-clad girl suddenly lunges forward, catching you by the chin and jerking your chin up, staring at your neck. Your smooth, Adam's-apple-less throat.
“Hey!” You yelp, knocking her hand away; she lets you go readily, already smiling with a distinctly cat-got-the-cream air.
“So that's it,” she says, smugly. “I suspected as much.”
“Is it…?” The other asks fascinatedly. Your eyes dart between them, confused, forboding building in your gut.
“Definitely,” says the first. They both turn to you, looking amused and intrigued.
“Playing dress-up, girl?” Asks Green, smiling archly.
Oh….oh no.
You go cold. “I…I don't know what you…”
“Re-lax. You think you're the first to put on men’s clothing in here? Didn't you see the little show we put on for you?” Gold waves a hand dismissively, talking out over top of you.
“It happens all the time. So, what does your man want? To pretend you're a boy? A new flavor to try? Or some training for you?” Green cuts in, raking her eyes over you. “Is he selling you?”
“He’s–…not–...my man,” you stumble. How to even explain that tangle? Clearly they believe Mizu's disguise, if not yours. You're not about to spill any of those beans, more than you need to. “And I would never stay here.” You pause, suddenly hearing yourself, and bow apologetically. An aching heart is no reason to be rude. “Not that I mean to degrade your work. I'm sorry.”
Both women look at each other, then start to laugh. Clearly they've heard worse.
“Then why do you look so sad?” Asks Gold once her laughter has passed, and this time she sounds almost genuinely interested. She pets your hair, gentle, like an older sibling. “Come on, girl, you can tell us.”
You should just tell them to go. But the room is quiet, and warm, and clean, after months of shacks and forest camping and inns full of leering men. And gods… you're so tired. To unburden yourself to someone would be such a relief. You haven't ever been able to talk about these confusing feelings; the only confidant that you have is Ringo, and you do not trust him with that kind of conversational grenade.
Discretion is the whole point of this place right? There are far worse secrets that they must keep.
Green leans against your shoulder, and this time it feels less sensual, and more like a friendly touch. You're surprised by how it loosens a knot in your chest that you hadn't recognized until now. When was the last time you were hugged?
You sigh. “It’s a long story…”
~
As it turns out, it's a long enough story to require two pots of tea–and then a relocation, as the girls drag you back to the dressing room to re-tell all the juicy details to the rest of the girls.
It's…therapeutic, to bare your heart to a group of open-minded, half-drunk women. They’re clearly connoisseurs of gossip, and they make extremely good listeners; gasping in all the right parts. You can't help but enjoy it a little, finally just venting it all out, lounging with the ever-shifting number of girls as sake replaces the tea. Girls come and go from the room as they head to various clients, but except for one they call “new girl”, who keeps her face turned away from you, they all come over to listen for a while.
(As you're surrounded by girls, slowly explaining the tangled story of your time with Mizu, Mizu returns from her walk with Kaji to find the room empty of you.
She pauses, surprised by her own disappointment. She can't admit it to herself, but she had expected you to have shaken off the girls and be waiting for her. You're always there when she comes back. Something burns in the pit of her stomach to find you gone; after the heavy deal she just made, she has need of the comfort you bring her–not that she'd admit that to herself, either. The images of you, somewhere in the brothel at this moment, half-dressed and flustered, makes her stomach flip. But then she imagines you under some faceless nude woman and her throat tightens. She sits down with a thump in front of the mirror and removes her glasses, studying her own face critically. It must be nice for you to be seeing pretty women for once, instead of her…)
“But why him?” One finally asks, wrinkling her nose, as you pause for breath. She's in a pink kimono–you think the others might have called her Ise. “You're a pretty girl, even in disguise. You could do better. He's hardly a looker.”
Your head snaps up, frowning in offense. The girls giggle at your suddenly icy glare, all warning Ise to duck, and Ise dramatically throws her hands up in front of her defensively. “Alright, alright, don't get your sword in a knot. I'm just saying…”
A couple girls nod in agreement. “Those eyes…” one murmurs. The white-haired girl in the corner turns to glare at her as a few others titter.
“Like a demon,” another says with a shudder.
Your fingers clench against your thighs, brow darkening. “I think they're beautiful.” Your voice is quiet, but hard as stone; the girls all fall silent, looking at each other uncertainly. There's a world of emotion in your heavy tone; a sincerity that they know, better than most, is rare and precious.
It’s Ise that smiles, slowly, with a dark, wicked gleam in her eye. “Do you want an answer?” She asks you bluntly, making you forget your anger in confusion.
“To whether he wants you,” she clarifies with a sigh.
You hesitate. Do you? If the answer is no… gods, that will hurt. And you know in your heart that you won't stop holding out hope, even then. You'll stay. You'll keep loving her. So does it matter?
But what if the answer is yes?
Slowly, wordlessly, you nod, stomach clenching. Ise smiles wider, and reaches for your topknot. “I know a method that never fails.”
~
Mizu looks up when you slide the panel open a crack, brow plunged in a deep scowl.
“I said I didn't–...Oh.”
You duck your head, wordlessly apologizing, even though you’re not even sure why. She only looks marginally less annoyed, watching you come in and sit down against the wall. Ringo is there, too, and he greets you brightly, looking rather pleased with himself. His kimono is slightly askew.
“Where have you been?” Her tone is sharp, her eyes sharper, as she takes in the tousled hair and haphazardly tied clothing on you. The girls had agonized over exactly how much to tousle you. That had honestly taken up the most time.
You shrug a little sulkily, keeping your eyes down. Part of you wants to abandon the idea, now that you've gotten snapped at–is it worth the risk of antagonizing her?--while part of you is still upset at getting left behind again. But the thought of Mizu picturing you doing… that…is making you blush yet again. Ise had explained what they were going to imply you did, which gave you a mind full of images that you know will probably haunt you worse than they haunt their intended target. What if Ise was messing with you? This is never going to work, you're already botching it by getting flustered.
In your mind, your avoidance is a dead giveaway that you're being shady…but to Mizu, the tousled appearance and shamefaced blush give exactly the impression Ise planned, and her fingers clench again, until the knuckles crack. Her lips tighten and thin, but she says nothing further, turning back to the mirror with a faint huff. Silence descends, but there’s a strange tension to the air that even Ringo notices. He glances between you two, gaining the worried expression that always makes you want to immediately reassure him.
“So, how much of my money did you spend?” Mizu abruptly spits at you, as though she's finally thought of an excuse to be angry. There's an unusual amount of venom behind her tone, harsh enough that Ringo’s eyes widen and he sits up a bit straighter, while you shrink in on yourself a bit. Wordlessly, still avoiding eye contact, you reach into your haori and pull out of the money pouch, tossing it to her.
She can tell as soon as she catches it that you haven't spent a single coin. “...Hm,” she says again, heat immediately bleeding out of her voice as her expression lightens. She surveys your disheveled appearance again, quirking an eyebrow.
“So why are you–” she starts, before there's another knock at the door. The panel slides open a crack as Mizu heaves a loud sigh of exasperation, her eyes rolling.
But before she can reiterate yet again to leave her alone, two girls’ heads poke in, and they aren't looking in her direction. They're whispering and giggling, completely unprofessionally, nudging each other, and staring at you.
“That's him,” one points.
“No! Is it really…?” The other gasps.
Both Mizu and Ringo turn to look at you, mirrored looks of confusion on their faces. Your expression is that of a dog facing down a speeding horse cart, unable to move, wide eyed. You regret agreeing to this; you want to sink into the tatami.
Their next whispers turn all three of you into statues.
“Ise says she finished three times…”
“Didn't even charge him…”
“He never even undressed–”
Ringo’s eyes and mouth all drop wide open, looking avidly between you and the door. Mizu is… frozen. Her face has taken on that blank expression that you've learned has all the safety of a rumbling mountainside. You don't dare shift an inch, but you can't help but stare at her. Your eyes slide from her stricken face to her hands; they're slowly curling into fists. Is it… working?
More giggling from the hallway, and something thumps the panel. It sounds like there are more girls gathering in the hallway. Another head pokes in, gets pushed back, and more sounds of muffled tussling leaks into the room. It sounds like most of the girls in the teahouse are having a little too much fun with this; they're probably thrilled to get to act out a little.
“Don’t shove–”
“Let me see! I want a turn–”
“... haven't had an orgasm like that in forever–”
“I can't wait to have a good scream–”
Oh gods above. Your face is crimson. You should have expected that they would go straight to vulgarity. Ringo chuckles with surprised and impressed delight, thumping you on the shoulder with one wrist like a comrade. This is so embarrassing.
One of the girls, braver than the rest, managing to wrestle the others back, calls out, “Mr. Samurai, can we borrow your apprentice?” This produces an absolute cascade of giggles and more heads poke into the door again.
“Yeah, me next!”
“Only after me!”
“You don't need him tonight, right, Mr. Samurai?”
“We promise not to break him–”
Mizu finally moves, moving towards the door with a speed that actually makes your heart clench with fear for the prostitutes. They all fall back, a chorus of shrieks and yelps echoing in the hallway as she almost seems to abruptly materialize in front of them.
“We're busy.”
Oh.
Her voice is so frozen with fury that it's a miracle she doesn't breathe out icy smoke. It’s a tone you've only heard a handful of times, always followed by blood spattering across snow. You can feel that familiar twisting ache of mingled fear and arousal in your core that you've grown to associate with Mizu at her most deadly. But this time it's complicated by a second layer of blending; uncertainty–is she just irritated by these twittering women?--and hope, delicate, frail, slowly blossoming.
Is she…jealous?
She slams the panel closed hard enough that there's an ominous wood crunching noise.
Silence falls. You watch Mizu, warily, as she stands at the door, her fingers still white-knuckling the edge of the panel.
“Wow, what did you do?” Ringo demands. You turn to look at him, startled. You were so focused on Mizu's reactions that you almost forgot he was a second witness. “How does that even work?”
“U-uh…I…” Oh gods, what do you say? You didn't actually do anything! Your idea of arousing is Mizu standing over you after a spar, the tip of her sheathed sword digging into your throat, an icy, smug satisfaction in her eyes. What do normal women find titillating?
“Come on, you gotta tell me. I wanna get with prostitutes for free, too!” Ringo gives you puppy eyes. “How'd you do it without them finding out… you know.” He gestures at your clothing. “Was it your hands? Is that the secret?” He asks, holding up his wrists and looking at them worriedly, as though hoping that that isn't the answer. “Wait–” he squints at you. “Where did you even learn to do anything like that anyway–”
“No more questions.” Comes the snarl from the door.
You glance away from Ringo to Mizu.
She's still got her back to the room. Her shoulders are drawing up in a hard hunch, free hand clenching tight again. The rumbling from the mountain is getting louder. You're not sure whether you should be exulting that she actually seems bothered, or be worried about the upcoming danger if she pops. She's not usually the type to explode, but when she does…
You both fall silent, watching as her shoulders heave in one deep, steadying sigh, before she finally turns around. Her face is composed, back to its usual resting glare, and you feel a bit let down. Maybe she just found it all annoying. All that, for no real answers…
Ringo stays quiet long enough for Mizu to return to her seated position by the mirror, but you can see him fidgeting. Before long, he leans over closer to you. His voice is hushed, trying to be discreet. For Ringo.
“So was it a tongue thing, or–”
THUNK. Mizu’s fist strikes the lap table hard, hard enough to upset the elegant centerpiece. You both jump and turn to look at her, freezing in place.
“If you want to know so badly, go ask them yourself.” Every syllable burns, blue eyes blazing.
Ringo, undeterred as ever, leaps to his feet. “I will!” He chirps, padding quickly over to the door. There, he pauses, bowing to Mizu. “Thank you for the permission, Master.”
Mizu watches him leave, her glare never wavering. After the door shuts, she snaps her gaze back to you. Your heart beats a little faster, as ever, feeling that little tingle that comes with getting her focused attention.
“You.” She jabs a finger at you; you flinch. “You. Don't. Leave this room again tonight. And nobody but Ringo comes in. Got it?”
Oh gods, she's jealous, she has to be, she's actually–
Now probably isn't the time to be cheeky and point out that she didn't put herself on that list. You nod. You've never been so happy to be glared at before. She wants me here. With her.
“Of course,” you say. “That's fine.”
Her glare softens at your voice.
You can see the way her eyes flick to your mouth as you form the words, and your heart flutters again. It's real, it must be, oh gods above– no way that this is happening, no way– You open your mouth again, unsure what else to say, but wanting to reassure her, to tell her that here is the only place you want to be. But before you can do that, there's a knock at the door again.
Mizu’s eyes blaze. She actually growls this time, turning towards the door with the feral speed of the truly enraged.
“I said we're busy,” she snarls, whipping the door panel open hard enough that it rattles the entire wall.
You see her freeze, as a soft, delicate voice rings through the room. “May I serve you?”
A pit suddenly opens in your stomach at the absolute stillness in Mizu’s posture. Even from behind you can tell she's staring at the girl’s face. The voice is so pure, so sweetly feminine that you can picture the kind of face it must belong to; a perfect doll, sparkling eyes, symmetrical features, neat teeth behind full, petal-soft lips. No blemishes, no scars, no days of sweat and greasy hair after too long on the road. Your heart twists; finally, finally Kaji has found someone perfect enough to take even Mizu’s breath away, and your chance with her is gone.
Is this how your little trick made her feel? This pain in your chest must be karma come knocking. The second you're away from this brothel, you’re coming clean; you can always say they just wanted to prank her. But you won't leave her believing it truly happened. No more of this back-and-forth of jealousy–if it ever was that on her end.
But then maybe she won't care by then. And I would deserve that. This pain is wrong, it was wrong to bait her because you were too cowardly to be honest about your feelings. She may have given you moments of jealousy before but they were never intentional. And now–
Mizu takes a step away, turning away from the girl towards you as she walks back to her previous seat. Her expression makes you pause on your internal journey of self-pity. It isn't lovestruck, or lustful. Not a flicker of a blush; she's all business. Her eyes seek yours out, a split-second look that you know all too well. The look that comes with a new, unexpected layer of trouble.
Your eyes flick towards the girl, now revealed as she steps into the room. She's as lovely as her voice would have suggested, tiny, exquisitely made up. But it's not your accurate prediction of her perfection that makes you freeze just as Mizu had. It's that you know her, from that bridge in Kyoto. As before, your every memory of that trip is seared in.
You don't dare try to catch Mizu’s eye again; this might be a problem, but for the moment, the girl clearly doesn't realize her hand has been revealed.
Just like that, the jealousy and pining take a backseat, as they so often have on this shared journey. Once again, you and Mizu are a united front, dealing with a new threat.
And through the chaos that quickly devolves around you, clarity comes to you. You didn't need to play this charade. All this time, all the worrying about who feels what, when that look Mizu shot you a moment ago says it all. In the moment where things got serious, upset with you or not, she trusted you to understand immediately. In the moment of trouble, she looked towards you.
–
When she comes back from her mysterious task, you're waiting in the hallway, too restless to stand Ringo’s chatter and Akemi’s sniping. Akemi had heard it all, of course, in the women’s dressing room, and she wasn't going to pass up an opportunity to needle you, since she couldn't seem to needle Mizu effectively. You don't doubt she'll blurt the whole sorry tale out to Mizu at her first opportunity, and standing in the dark in the hall leaves you with little to do but fret about that.
It hasn't been as long as you would have expected, when she comes back.
You look up at the quiet footfall, and pause, heart clenching at the sight of her face in the shadowy hall. Mizu pauses, too, stopping a little distance away from you, as if afraid to get too close. She's carrying her hat under her arm, and her face looks…gods. You've seen her furious, cold, exhausted, conflicted, even amused.
This is something else, something worse than anything you've ever seen. She looks bereft, hollowed out, her eyes staring ahead as though looking at some horror no one else can see.
In that moment, you move without thought of rejection. Something in her face just calls to you, more deeply than words, drawing you together like magnets.
You push off the wall and step up to meet her.
“Mizu…?” You keep your voice as soft as you can. She doesn't raise her eyes. Instead, you can see the lids lower until they fall shut.
Slowly, you reach up to cup her face; you expect her to push your hand away, but you would have tried anyway. It’s your heart reaching out to touch hers in the only way you can, and it cannot be suppressed. In this moment, even though it's the closest you've ever been, you're not thinking about wanting her, only wanting to soothe her. Strange that your first moment of deeper intimacy should come from this clear pain, surrounded by the trappings of lust itself.
She doesn't fight you. When you bring your hands to the sides of her head, slowly pulling the glasses away, she lets you guide her face down to you, until her head is resting heavily against your shoulder. Her arms remain at her sides, hanging limp. When your hands cradle her head, her hair, she shudders violently for a second with a little choke, remembering the way she cradled another head, and then subsides.
You stand that way for a long time, in utter silence, utter stillness. The only movement is a very faint shivering that suffuses her frame. She's breathing slowly, with an exaggerated evenness as though deliberately forcing herself to do so. Your mind is racing; what on earth could have produced such a response?
Mizu… what did you do.
You already know you aren't going to ask, and make her relive it. Maybe someday, if she wants to unburden herself… but it doesn't matter now. It doesn't really matter at all; you know there's very little you wouldn't forgive her for. And you could see the regret in her eyes, that no matter what heinousness produced this, she feels no peace in the aftermath.
“It was a girl.” You can barely hear her.
“What?”
“I killed a girl tonight.”
Your heart constricts at her quiet voice. She says it tonelessly, unemotional, but you can feel her shoulders tensing under your hands. To her, this is the moment; you, seeing the monster that she is, pulling away, refusing further comfort.
“A girl?”
A faint shift of her head against your shoulder that might be a nod. A chill runs through you; she feels your shudder and braces for the shove, the exclamation of horror.
“Was it…necessary?” You ask slowly, instead, trying to understand. You've never known Mizu to kill an innocent before. There must have been a reason.
You can feel the way the question strikes her, unexpected. When was the last time anyone asked her about why she does what she does?
“...I don't know,” she says bleakly, her voice cracking.
Another long silence; the shoulders grow even more tense. She almost seems to stop breathing. You turn your face to her hair, silently, and feel her body go loose again. There's nothing you can say to fix this; only offer your steady presence.
“... Thank you.” This time the voice has a hoarse, shaky edge. You make a questioning noise, your fingers stilling. You hadn’t realized you'd been stroking her hair.
“For not…pulling away.” Her voice is growing quieter and quieter with each word; she turns her face harder into your shoulder, as though she can hide her vulnerability along with her face. “For not… thinking ill of me.”
“Never.” Your whisper is vehement, your fingers tightening against the back of her head.
“You should.”
You pause; the contrast of her gratitude and disapproval flummoxes you for a moment. You have no recourse but to be honest.
“I knew what this path would be when I chose to follow. I will not reject you for following your ember.”
You're shocked to hear a faint sniffle before she straightens, and even more shocked to feel wetness cooling on your shoulder. She hadn’t made a single sound of weeping; not a sob, not a hitch of breath. You saw no tear slide down her face.
Her expression is a different story; as stoic as ever but for those red-rimmed, haunted eyes. She’s still staring into the middle distance, unfocused. At the sight of her, your resolve snaps; you blurt it out. You can't fix this pain killing her inside now; you can only right the wrong you had done earlier.
“It didn't happen.”
“Mm…?” she looks at you, finally, but it's as if she is seeing someone else.
“The… the girls,” you stumble on your words for a moment. You want to be honest about what happened, but now doesn’t feel like the time to confess love, not when she's so wreathed in this empty sadness. You settle on, “I didn't do anything with them.”
She blinks, starts to focus a tiny bit. “Then they-…and you never…”
You shake your head.
She blinks, then blinks again. She doesn't look immediately relieved, at least not straightforwardly, but she looks strangely more alert. It's as if the weight on her shoulders was heavier, but it was a weight she was more willing to tolerate. Her brow pinches as she seems to think of something.
“I'm…sorry you had to look through those holes,” she says finally, staring down at your feet. Her voice is soft, barely above a breath. “You're… not meant to see all of this.”
“It wasn't so bad,” you reassure her. “I can handle it.”
She shakes her head impatiently.
“This isn't how you should be seeing…I'm…supposed to–…” She stops, looking confused by her own words. You stare at her in surprise. Supposed to what? Protect me? That would be a departure indeed from her constant insistence that you are here of your own free will, that she isn't responsible for you, that she isn't your protector… and so on.
You laugh a little, warmly. It's not funny, any of this, but there's a tiny bubble of something warm glowing in your chest, something that feels as though it's solidified between you, and the icy wall of uncertainty that plagues your every step has begun to trickle away.
“I can protect myself now, thanks to you,” you murmur, ducking your head a little to try to meet her gaze as she hangs her head. The next words are hard to say, but you want her to hear them. “And, truly…I don't think there's a better place in all of Japan than next to you.”
She looks up at you, eyebrows quirking up in surprise; it's the last sentiment she would expect to hear from anyone right now. The eye contact in this moment is lightning-sharp; a myriad of emotions run through her gaze, her face twitching through what looks like guilt, shame… and then a deeper, aching longing. The potency is as intense as every other emotion in her, and it arrests your very breathing.
You know. In that moment, you know; the trickle becomes a meltwater flood, soaking warmth through your ribcage. You’re pulled into the undertow of ocean eyes that glow in the cocooning darkness.
Her lips press together tightly as her eyes flick to your mouth as they did once, hours so. She looks suddenly lost; too emotionally overwhelmed by the events of the night to keep her walls up any longer. Distraction, validation, reassurance… human weaknesses she normally scoffs at. Tonight, her last rest before Fowler, before possible death, she'll let herself be human. She will seek comfort from someone that will touch her like she isn't a monster, confirm to herself that she can be capable of love, softness. That after her revenge, a happy life could be possible for her.
“I'm glad–...” her voice hitches as she leans closer to you, then sways back again, uncertainly. In the dark, her blush doesn't show, but the flustered expression is enough to make your heart suddenly race. “I'm glad that… you didn't. With them.”
You can't breathe. Your heart is in your throat; its rabbiting beat is making you shake so strongly with adrenaline that you have to force your teeth not to chatter. You've been waiting for so long, with never the slightest inkling of hope…
“...I am, too.” In the intimate darkness surrounding you, your whisper feels loud. Her gaze focuses in like a beam of burning light; your own expression says everything.
This time she steps closer again without flinching, and you feel like you might pass out. The hesitant look flickers across her again for a moment, before her brow suddenly furrows. You have a half second to recognize the familiar look of determination that precedes every risky move before there's a long fingered hand curling around your nape, and a pair of thin, sculpted lips on yours.
Oh.
It's as though every muscle in your body melts away in an instant. The second you lean into it with enthusiasm, you’re enveloped; her arms are like iron, clutching you tight. It's every bit as mind-numbing as you had fantasized; the taste of her lips is tea and copper, blood-hot as her tongue slips against yours. Mizu does nothing halfway. She kisses like she fights; overpowering, ruthless, clever and swift. Every twitch of reaction is caught and dragged free of you again and again as that famous adaptability is turned on you and achieving your pleasure. Her hands roam restlessly, mapping over the lines of your body, prompting a squeak when they suddenly squeeze tight, nails dimpling your flesh, before sliding on. You hope that every time her fingers sink in, there's a mark you'll see tomorrow, until she's littered every inch of your skin.
Your mingled breaths are loud in the silence of the hall. Your own hands are in her hair, slipping down her neck, reveling in the shift of the muscles in her shoulders; you can touch her now, you can touch her, she's kissing you, she wants you, gods above–
“Mizu…” You can't stop the soft whine, muffled by her lips; it thrills you to feel her shudder in response to it, her arms tightening around you with a hushed groan. The hand at the back of your neck grasps a hank of your hair like a handle, tugging your head to the side with accidental roughness. The pain sparks like flint against the heat building between your thighs, flaring it to a roar. Your little hiss is choked off by a gasp as she buries her face in your neck and inhales you, deep and greedy, indulging herself, before biting down hard on the soft skin below your ear.
Your grip on her shoulders tightens with a bitten-back cry, lust shooting through you like a grassfire. It runs molten between your thighs, softening your legs until your knees buckle–swift as an arrow, your world spins.
Your spine thumps into the support beam, her front molded to yours as she pins you against it; you can feel her heartbeat pattering against her bindings, the sharpness of her hipbones against your belly. Everything in your body pulses with one hard beat of desire; it thuds from your throat to your fingertips every time you hear that harsh inhale of her panting through her nose between kisses, the soft grunts of response to each slide of tongue and teeth. You don't notice your haori part until cool fingers slip along your ribcage. You flinch with a gasp, your back arching wanton and shameless into the touch. The husky chuckle at your ear makes your core throb so hard it hurts.
Your thighs tangle together without a care to your surroundings. “Ngh–” Another desperate, muffled groan vibrates against the side of your throat when you press your leg up between hers. Her hips spasm and buck, her groan fracturing into something soft and needy–“ah-...ahh”--breath puffing faster over your skin; there's a searing softness pressing against your thigh, already damp through the thick fabric of her pants. In response, the lean muscle of her own leg presses up between yours, hiking you higher against the wall until you’re spread across it, your own weight bearing you down against it with a cruel pressure to the very source of your ache. As you’re yanking her hair free with a high-pitched moan of her name–
The soft sssh-thnk of a door panel makes you both freeze.
“Master? Are you out here? I heard–...oh.”
Mizu slowly raises her head from your neck as you turn your head. Is this how you die? Of embarrassment?
Ringo’s eyes are like saucers; behind him, the faint sound of Akemi protesting spills out into the hallway as the three of you stare at each other in silence. “What? What is it? Ringo? Hey! Untie me! Let me see!”
Ringo opens his mouth, then closes it again. A wide, delighted grin slowly spreads over his face. Without another word, he slowly leans back into the room, shutting the panel behind him.
You both stare at the door for a minute. Akemi's complaints can still be heard from inside. Then you look at each other.
You giggle first, trying to stifle it, horrified at yourself as it bubbles free. “Sorry, s-sorry–” you hiss, more giggles escaping you, edged almost hysterical. It's not funny, at all, but you can't seem to stop.
Mizu watches you, perplexed at first, her mouth twitching as though she's not sure whether she should be laughing with you, or not. Finally she just sighs, too exhausted to give a damn, leaning her head on your shoulder again. This time you don't hesitate to wrap your arms around her, nuzzling into her hair as her own arms curl around you tightly.
It's not okay, nothing is okay, but, this… this is good.
Into the silence, a woman screams.

Injured (Alexia's Version) V
Alexia Putellas x Child!Reader
Summary: Alexia comes to ballet class
For some reason, Alexia feels nervous.
She's played some big matches. She's won some big trophies. She's scored some big goals.
But none of those moments ever made her as nervous as she feels now.
Your ballet school had sent home a leaflet just last week about having a parent-child day where parents could join in on practice with their kids.
Alexia had signed herself up without thinking before the realisation had sunk in about what she had done.
She hadn't danced in years, not properly anyway and left it all behind to pursue football. She wasn't quite sure she still remembered how to do that style of dance, let alone your style of ballet.
But, still, she had signed up and the awestruck look on your face when she told you was worth it all.
"Alright mummies and daddies," The too-happy voice of your teacher exclaims," We're so excited to have you here with us today. Why don't you go and grab your little one and find a spot at one of the barres?"
The whole class is sitting cross legged on the floor and Alexia can pick you out easily with your favourite leotard and the little braid Olga had given you this morning.
Alexia smiles at you, gently taking your hand as you pull her over to the spot at the very end of the mirror, just like your preferred space at your barre back home.
"Alright boys and girls! Now, first position!"
Alexia knows that one. She's pretty sure she's one of the only parents that actually does because she shifts into position while others look around in confusion.
"And now, plié."
It's fairly simple stuff but Alexia's not surprised. You're still little but you're doing exceptionally well. She catches sight of your determined little face as you bob up and down.
This is one of the better ballet schools for younger kids. Back when you first started ballet, Alexia didn't really care where you went so Eli had organised it.
Alexia feels glad that her Mama spent so much time researching because now that she's started visiting and chatting to the other parents, she knows that some ballet 'schools' are barely schools for young children, not really focused on teaching them actual ballet like this one is.
Throughout this whole exercise, you remain composed and calm the entire time. You easily shift in and out of the positions you need to be in and your teacher has nothing but compliments for you whenever she comes past.
You smile brightens each time and Alexia has to stop herself from leaning down to give you kisses all over your face.
"Alright boys and girls! Water break!"
Your focused face disappears from your features as soon as the water break is called and you whirl around to look at Alexia.
"I..." You seem a bit nervous, shuffling your feet. "Are you having fun, Mami?"
Alexia crouches down in front of you, gently pushing away some flyaways from your face. "I'm having so much fun, bambi."
"Really? I know it's not football but-"
"I don't need football to have a fun time with you," Alexia assures you, a soft kiss being pressed against your forehead," Do you know what we're doing after this?"
You nod. "Floorwork," You say seriously," Floorwork and then cool down and then home time." You chew on your bottom lip for a moment before you shyly ask," Would you like to be my floorwork partner, Mami?"
Alexia smiles. "I'd love to."
Floorwork sounds more intimidating than it is. All it really boils down to is the class going in pairs one corner to the other doing things like skipping to the beat of the music.
Alexia supposes it's a bit like conditioning in a way and holds your hand nice and tight as you both skip from one end of the room to the other.
Nearer the end, the teacher switches to turns and Alexia's a little glad that she's not the only parent that makes a bit of a fool of themselves.
To her credit, she, at least, manages to stay on her feet which can't be said for one dad who trips over his own laces and nearly smashes his face into the floor.
"Well done today, boys and girls!" The teacher says as everyone packs up," And well done to mummies and daddies too! I'll see you all next week!"
Alexia keeps a grip on your hand, swinging your arms as she heads out to the car, packing it up with both of your bags and buckling you into your car seat.
"I had a lot of fun today, bambi," She tells you as she heads down the familiar road towards the house," It was very interesting to see what your classes are like."
"You did very well, Mami," You say earnestly, nodding your head," I wish parents could always been in my classes. It's more fun when there's grown ups."
Alexia laughs. "If there were always grown ups then you'd never get anything done! The mummies and daddies will keep falling over and the whole class will just be everyone laughing at us."
You shake your head. "I wouldn't laugh at your, Mami. Promise."
Alexia smiles at you in the rear view mirror.
"I'm glad, bambi."
There's silence for a moment and then," Do you want to practice at my barre at home? For when parents can come back to class?"
"That sounds perfect."

꩜ STILL INTO YOU

pairing ꩜ lottie matthews x femreader
summary ꩜ reconnecting with lottie turns out to be a lot more physical than you anticipated
an ꩜ nsfw! wc 2.3k | not edited don't come for me
It all happened because you thought it would be a good idea to help look for Nat. Maybe it was the righteous choice—or maybe powered by guilt. Guilt of disappearing after rescue.
Except, what the hell were you supposed to do? You’d all pretty much agreed not to stay in touch after the rescue. And the minute you saw some of them bring back that anarchy into normal civilization, you fled. Fuck that shit.
Maybe what you had done after that wasn’t so graceful, but you did what you had to do to survive. So when you noticed all that free press and camera attention, you jumped at that. Half lying memoirs, tearful interviews and fake stories turned you into some media pawn. Of course no one stepped out to stop you, no because they couldn’t, because the public couldn’t handle the real truth of the wilderness.
Like any other social pawn the burnout was rough—parties, drugs, a complete spiral. You were everywhere except where you should have been, in contact with them. With her.
So when you pulled into the community which immediately struck you as a cult, your former teammates had a sour taste in their mouth.
The girls iced you out, at this point not even sure if you were ever a yellowjacket. Except for Lottie. When she saw you it’s like a blow to the ribs. She didn’t say anything—she couldn’t. She could just stare.
That whole day was full of aggression, mostly passive but it stung. It was a double edged sword. Maybe seeing who could get who to crack first.
At some point in the late evening she dug the dagger in, “you used our trauma.” And her tone is so raw you almost crumble.
“You found some bullshit god. I found coke. We all survived somehow.” You bite back in front of everyone, then retreat to a cabin the cult commune had prepared for you. Running away like you did best.
You just crave a bed, solitude—probably an advil too. But much to your luck, your cabin door swings back open before you can even get it closed.
And in comes a fuming Lottie. Though it’s a silent and precise anger.
“I can’t believe you just came back here like this—like nothing happened.” Her voice is strict, on edge.
You whip around, an eye nearly twitching. Already agitated from the long day. The arguments and insults. “I didn’t come back for you, Lottie.”
“Oh right. You came back to play hero. How’d you find the time between all your rehab and interviews? Or wait—is it another chapter for your book, did you need more reason to write another?” She laughs bitterly, but her eyes are glassy.
Your jaw clenches, the chair next to you looking very tempting to throw. “You don’t get to fucking judge me.”
She goes to open her mouth again in another snap but you shake your head, snapping back before she can.
“You went off and played messiah in the woods. At least I didn’t pretend to heal.” And that hits too deep. For the both of you.
“You think I wanted all of this? That I chose this over you? You didn’t even give me a choice.” The tension in the room is growing thicker. It could choke you.
“You disappeared just like I did. But I didn’t pretend to be fucking enlightened about it.”
She suddenly steps in close, towering you with her presence. Her anger. Grief.
“I didn’t write us into a paperback trauma media attraction.” Her voice is low and venomous. It flushed you with guilt.
“You think I wrote about you?” you let out an airy laugh, “you’re not that special, Charlotte.” That's a lie. You both know it.
You’ve written so many pages, chapters, maybe even books about it. In tears, anger, love and guilt. Cut out last minute, letting it simmer within you instead.
And suddenly her lips are on yours. Bruising. No warning, just fury. Her hands tangled in your hair, pulling you in because she hates you for existing and hates herself for still wanting you.
It took more air out of you than seeing her again after all these years. And you can’t pull away, because you’re still her girl.
“You still taste the same,” she whispers against your lips and you whimper.
You kiss her back, equal force. She knows she can’t pull away either, the damage is done. You're in her bloodstream again.
She shoves you against the wooden wall, a soft ‘umph’ leaving you until shes already back on you. You simply pull her in harder. Fingers grasping her shoulders.
“Do you still think about it?” she hisses against your lips, “back then?”
You exhale a ragged yes, to which she bites your lip in response to.
It’s messy. Too much teeth, little care. It’s feral, it’s the fucking wilderness again. Her swift hands tear your shirt over your head, like it’s made of paper.
She pulls back briefly, your heavy breathing mingling, replacing your earlier shouting. Deep brown eyes burn with so much emotion as they drag down the swell of your tits within your bra.
With hunger, she dives down towards your neck, which you immediately offer up to her, tilting your head back. She gropes your tits rather harshly as she plants hot, wet kisses along the column of your throat.
It’s not long until she undoes the clasp of your bra, tearing it from you, her hands now flush against your skin. You’re hot, flushed, and utterly burning for her. Her hands travel to drag her nails down your spine, then to the waistband of your pants.
She gets your jeans about halfway down before she spins you around, pressing your front against the wall. The wood, much cooler than your skin, makes you suck in a harsh breath.
Her breath is hot against your neck. “You hate me,” she murmurs against your ear, “say it.”
“I do,” you gasp, instinctively grinding back against her. “I fucking hate you,” you breathe out, trying to convince yourself through desperation.
In the same breath she moves your, now soaked, underwear to the side, pushing two fingers into you. Your head falls back against her shoulder.
You were so wet she let out a low hum, approvingly. She knew your body like the back of her hand, she always had.
You clench around her fingers when she finds a perfect rhythm of deep and slow thrusts. And when she curls her fingers just right? You whimper. Your arousal is so evident as it collects between your thighs. Her fingers were so cruel and loving. A harsh caress.
Your hand scrambles to brace yourself against the wall, suddenly your limbs are so weak. She takes your other wrist and pins it above your head, her fingers never ceasing their relentless rhythm.
“I wish I could hate you,” she whispers, making you whine louder. Now her words and fingers had you unfolding.
And once she adds friction to your needy clit it’s over. Lottie knows between your high pitched moans and the way you clench around her, you were close.
Her mouth is so soft when she kisses your shoulder. Whispering soft praises to your ear, “let go for me, prove you’re still mine.”
And you do. That white hot burn wracks your body as you come. Her name slips from your lips like a prayer. Your legs trembling as she helps you ride out your bliss, your head heavy against her shoulder.
Her movements slow, and then she’s withdrawing her fingers, earning a weak whimper from you. Your body is unstable, to which she had no problem keeping you upright. The mixture of the stressful day, outbursts of emotion and being fucked senseless against a wall proving to have done a number on her.
She flips you back around, her eyes and face now gentle. The kindness you were once accustomed to coming back.
“I got you.” She whispers, drawing her fingers covered in your arousal to her mouth. She sucked them clean, eyes on yours, pupils blown wide. A low moan escaped her.
You shuddered, thighs clenching together. Your lips still parted with heavy breaths.
She pulled you into another kiss, much softer than earlier. Her tongue slipped between your lips, exploring somewhere she had almost forgotten.
Her body guided you to take shaky steps, mouth still on yours. You felt the edge of the bed against the back of your legs, then Lottie pushed you backwards. With a soft bounce you melted into the sheets. They reeked of scandal-wood and yearning.
She looked down at you like you were precious, even after everything. She tugged the rest of your pants off, along with your underwear, leaving you completely bare. Evidence of your unraveling still between your thighs.
You watch her closely, Lottie standing at the foot of the bed like a goddess. Your mouth goes dry when she starts to slowly undress. It’s teasing and everything you need, watching her slip her loose dress off herself. Your face flushes when she’s completely bare, heat humming on the surface of your skin.
“Beautiful,” you whisper, which she smiles softly at.
Lottie joins you on the bed of soft linen sheets, crawling across it to you. When her skin makes contact with yours, you can't help but let out a small gasp. You hadn’t known how much you missed the sensation until now. She presses her body against you, situating herself so her thigh is pressed between your legs.
You fit together perfectly, your own thigh slotting between her legs, mind whirling when you feel how wet she is. Her hands gently cup your jaw to pull you up a little, pressing her lips back to yours.
Her kisses are so soft now, her kisses are a penance, an apology to the aggression. She presses her thigh against your, once again, aching cunt, making you moan into her moan. You can feel the way she shifts against your own thigh, hips rolling.
Her lips move against you just as her hips do, slow, sensual and meaningful. Each slow movement adds enough friction to your core, making you whine.
She pulls away slowly, eyes heavy with arousal, “gods, I’ve missed you,” she whispers, her voice perfectly husky. You swear you could catch tears forming in her eyes.
Her confession just urges you on, rolling your own hips to grind down on her thigh. Her breath hitches and she brings a guiding hand to grip your hip.
“Fuck…— L-lottie.” You rasp out, a mix between a moan and a choke.
She hums in response, tilting her head, still guiding your hip. Her other hand travels up your torso, pausing to caress your tits.
Your body is still her temple and she knows every damn prayer.
She watches every expression and crease on your face. Both of your breaths grow heavier, making the heat between the two of you grow.
“You’re doing so good, take what you need,” she hushes, her tone heavy with lust.
And you do just that, grinding against her thigh with more strength, the wetness on her thigh growing, all to Lottie’s liking. As you quicken, she dips her head to your neck, soft bites and sucks. You tangle your fingers in the thick tresses of her dark hair, gently tugging.
A low groan rumbles in her throat in response, littering gentle marks of her love on your skin. Your body trembled against her as your grinding grew more desperate. Her own body mirrored the gentle trembles, knowing you were drawing closer again.
“Good girl, s’good for me,” her breath is warm against your ear.
She pulls back just enough to press her forehead against yours, eyes shut in bliss, chasing her high.
Your fingers trembled in her hair as you grew dangerously close, Lottie’s hand never ceasing to guide you while riding her thigh. Soon enough you’re coming again, on her thigh, as you push yours against her. Your cries carry through the cabin, urging Lottie on.
She's falling over her peak just as you are, her body tense with your name slipping from her mouth. Just as you pant she presses a searing kiss against your mouth, swallowing each other's moans.
The wave of intense pleasure soon subsides, and you’re worn out, body pressed against hers. Her arms wrap around you, kissing your temple when your face is deep in her neck. She guides you to lay back on the bed, laying beside you, holding you close as both of your breaths shallow out.
She brushes some hair stuck to your damp skin from your face, and all you can do is look at her face with a hazy gaze. Her eyes are sickeningly soft, “you okay?”.
You swallow and nod, then smile tiredly. “Mhm,” you hum.
Her eyes flicker over your face, taking you in all over again. “You’re so gorgeous, especially like this.” She says while she gently brushes her thumb over your cheek.
The silence that falls between you both isn’t awkward. It’s tiring. Healing. Basking in the warm aftershocks.
You nestle closer to her, and she pulls you in more, head resting on her chest. You can hear the calm beat of her heart beneath you, soothingly therapeutic. Her arm wraps around you, splaying across your back as her other hand runs through your hair. Like she can’t stop touching you in case you slip away from her again.
Lottie wants to ask what this means now, or to wonder how this may just blow up all over again, but your voice drags her from her thoughts,
“don’t let me leave again,” you whisper against her skin, already half asleep.
There's so much more to say but the way your legs are tangled together and your sleeping breaths fan across her skin says all.
Just for a moment you’re teenagers again, old lovers. And that's enough of an answer.

PART1 PART 3
---
To find simple kindness in life isn't as easy as people make it out to be. To give out kindness after receiving none of it is even harder.
You know what it was like to have your innocence ripped off from your hands since you were young. To have to force yourself to stand up tall against the fragile sand breaking in between your toes and keep walking anyways, despite knowing that there's nothing waiting for you at the other end of the world.
Losing your mother at a young age meant having to be comfortable in your own presence. All selkies were seals, but not all seals are selkies. And on nights where you're swimming under the moonlight with your friends, crossing borders after borders, it felt like everything is going as it's meant to be. Even if the feeling never lasted.
You're a runner, or swimmer, technically. You needed to constantly be moving to fill that emptiness in you. You'd find a place with new kinds of entertainment to satiate the deep curiosity you have for the man-folk, and then leave before you can get attached, that was your game.
But lately the thrill was disappearing. There was this feeling you just couldn't shake, the feeling that you were truly and completely alone even in a room full of people.
There was a longing for true connection, but no one to connect to. No one made sense to you. Except her.
You've been hanging around her for months now, even when she doesn't notice you, while shes doing work, getting on and off the boats with the big man and hia daughters, when she's enjoying the cold wind under moonlight while the sea is calm.
She confuses you, a woman with so much freedom, and yet she chooses to stay here instead, all alone. Why deprive yourself from real connections when you can easily obtain it? Do the other humans not satisfy her?
And so maybe your new curiosity is taking shape in this weirdly lonely and awkward woman.
You don't really know what you want, self discovery as half sea creature /half man isn't easy. But all you knew that for some reason, the waves of your heart is insistent in going her way, and so you follow in hopes that it would help you feel any other other than aching desperation to be understood.
When she picked you up and carried you inside last night, you had managed to acknowledge a few things about her. The first thing is, she's a man of action. If plan A doesn't work, she's going straight to Plan B. She didn't force you out of your silence and instead worked through it.
The second thing you learned was that she's less scarier than she looks. And the third is that you were wrong about her purposely depriving herself of human connection.
With how quickly she went for aiding you is one thing, but you could see the same kind of craving for another person in her eyes, when she caught you out of bed and rummaging through her belongings, there was more of confusion than irritation, but most importantly, there was a need to comprehend your existence.
You couldn't find your coat. It's a few hours before dawn, and she's somehow managed to fall asleep by the rocking chair downstairs. You had used the extra time you had before its time for her to wake up to quietly tiptoe around the tall tower, exploring every level and getting yourself familiar with the place.
This place is as old as it looks. The paint is peeling off the walls, and the lights flicker every few seconds, giving the tower a sense of melancholy and nostalgia.
It was just the kind of place you liked, historic but also monotonous.
Once you reached the level she was at, you silently watched over her, observing her sleeping manner as she remained unconscious. You didn't want to accidentally wake her up, so you only looked around from wher eyou stood to see if you could find your coat, but when you couldn't, you decided to go back to bed, all out of options.
What was your motive, truly? You weren't sure. You've decided that you're staying, but what angle are you going with?
You've had your fair share of experiences around humans, and in each time, you made sure to have a certain role or goal you're going in with, it saves time, and it's necessary for your own safety. The last thing you needed was some dirty sailor or pirate, locking you up against your will.
But this time, nothing is clear, not even your intentions. You see this situation as a process of trying to understand yourself through understanding her. So the end goal, should probably be some feeling of clarity, right?
It sounds silly, trying to find pieces of yourself in another woman's puzzle, but sometimes, things fit even in places they dont belong in.

Sevika woke up 5 minutes later than usual with a sense of urgency in her chest, which technically meant that she was still early, but that wasn't the point. Something was different today, compared to all the other repetitive and mundane days she's had.
Usually, she'd berate herself for the clumsiness as she'd have nothing else to do. But today, as soon as she woke up, you were the first thing that crossed her mind.
The peculiar girl that somehow survived the antagonising waves of the sea.
She pulled herself out of her chair and was about to make her way up to the bedroom until she saw you standing outside from the window, leaning against the railing, basking in the calm air as the sun slowly rose up.
You were checked out if reality, enjoying the morning glow as the wind blew through your hair, turning your cool skin even colder. It was a sight to behold, Sevika thought. There was no one who seemed more in her element than you at this moment.
As you seemed blind to her presence, she decided to take advantage of it and get started on breakfast. omelettes would do, at least for now. She even added an extra effort by drawing a smily face on it using soy sauce.
You entered back in while she was still preparing the food and went up to her from behind, taking a peek at Sevika's neck twisted to meet your face. "Good morning.” Sevika greeted as she placed the plates on the table.
She then beckons you to take a seat with her, and you don't hesitate to do so.
How did you sleep? She wanted to ask, but she doubted that you would answer. The speaking barrier is stressing her out. There are still some things she actually needed to figure out, were you mute or foreign. Because if you were simply unable to speak, at least she'd be relieved to know that you could understand her.
She sits opposite you and watches you ravage the omelette without a single care for her and the world, not that she'd blame you, if you've been up earlier than her. you must be starving.
You appreciate each bite like it's be your last, and Sevika views you with both awe and frustration, not knowing what to do in this situation.
It's quite a silly thought process actually, she already knew that there was nothing she could do and that you'd be stuck with her for a while, but how does she tell you that? Or do you already know and that's why you're weirdly chill? Why are you so chill? Were you still in shock?
And why is she having more trouble processing this than you were? Sure its jarring to spend months alone and then suddenly be having breakfast with a stranger who steals her bed, but Sevika has always been a rational and calculated person, so what was the issue now?
Sevika groaned, wiping a hand over her face, causing you to look up from your plate.
She caught your eye and straightened her back. "I- we need to talk." She forced the words out, not breaking eye contact.
Your eyes never strayed from hers as you feed a spoonful into your mouth. "Do you understand what I'm saying?" She asks slowly. No response.
Sevika didn't want to show her disappointment, so she decided to start with something easier. Pointing her finger to herself, she repeated her own name in a show of introducing herself. "Sevika." She repeated, still pointing to her chest.
You nodded then, shyly but surely. Sevika couldn't help but beam at you, smiling ear to ear. "Yeah? You understand me?" You nodded again.
"And you?" She asks. "Your name?" You're unresponsive again, simply staring blankly at her. Sevika tries again, pointing to herself and saying her own name. "I am Sevika." She says, then begins pointing towards herself, "You?"
She thought that you must be completely lost in your head again as your eyes squint in confusion, but then after a minute or two passed, you shook your head at her.
"No?" What does that mean? The imaginary brick wall between the two of you that she thought had been removed, has just returned.
"I'm Sevika." She repeated herself for the fourth time. "And your name is?" You shook your head at her again.
"No name?" Sevika is grasping at the end of the straws here. "You have no name, or you can't remember your name?" You went static again. Sevika sighed.
"Well, I need to call you something." She muttered under her breath. "How about this, I'll say a few names, and you nod your head at which one you like, how bout that?" Unresponsive, of course.
Here goes nothing, she thought. "Lily, Kate, Alia, Nadia, Tella, Belle-" Sevika went over a bunch of names in her head until she paused at a particular one when she saw something flashed in your eyes.
She said the name aloud and noticed your eyes widening slightly. "Is that your name?" You didn't quite agree, but you tilted your head to you and gave her a look that said "It'll do." And so for now, It'll do.
---
The phone isn't working, she had known it wouldn't. The line here have always been problematic. Sevika anxiously paces back and fourth after hanging it up, rubbing her temples in a manner that distinctly shows her frustrations.
"Well there's no safe way to send you out." She says, turning to look at you, who's comfortably on her rocking chair, playing with a strand of your hair.
"But that isn't something we don't already know." She finishes her sentence.
She halts all of her movement all of the sudden, reminded of something she'd almost forgotten to bring up. Sevika reaches further into the backroom by the kitchen and comes up with a familiar piece of clothing.
You all but jumped out of the chair, striding towards her. This was the first time you've ever reacted this strongly towards anything for all the time you've been here.
"I guess this is yours?" She asks, waving your white coat up. You nodded and extended your hand to take it from her, but just before she could, you pulled your hand back and frowned.
"What?" Sevika asks. "You don't want it?"
She watches you open your mouth briefly, as if about to say something, but the. closing it back and taking a step back.
"I'll admit, " Sevika starts. "It is quite a useless coat, very inefficient." She teases as she walks forward, taking note of how you keep moving backwards.
"What's wrong?" She asks again, genuinely worried. "You're not suddenly gaining consciousness about the realities of your condition and stranger danger, are you?"
You laughed at that, a choked, short laugh. But a laugh nonetheless. Sevika smiled despite herself.
"So you do understand me."
You sat back down at the rocking chair, leaning back and closing your eyes, completely ignoring her and the coat. Sevika confusedly hung the coat on the chair by the window, and dragged it infront of you before taking a seat.
"In all seriousness, you did understand what I've been telling you, yes?" You opened your eyes, and stared into her dark orbs.
"You're going to be stuck with me for a while, until I can find someone to help me get you back to where you came from." You responded with a single nod.
"And you do know where you come from?" You gave it a moment before nodding again. Sevika's eyes brightened. "That's good. Great, even. " She reached for a long folded paper that's pushed to the side by the closet on your right and rolled it open in front of you.
It's a map. "This is a map." She stated. You raised a brow at her, an expression that translated; "I know what a map is."
"It would give me instant relief if you could just circle where you're from, just so we can get some things clear.
She passed you a pencil and moved to give you some space, patiently waiting for you to point towards your home.
You looked through the foreign words you've somehow mastered as you travelled and found yourself in a state of hesitancy for the first time in your life.
You never knew where you were born. From the first time you opened your eyes, you had found yourself in dry land, an infant who had stuck by her mother's side, and before your mother had passed, the both of you returned into the deep blue sea, swimming through unnamed waters.
You can feel her expectancy as you raised the pencil in your arm, drawing it closer to the map. And so in the end, you dotted a big circle over the whole map, and passed it back to her in satisfaction.
"You gotta be fuckin with me." Sevika groaned, making you smile.
"You are..." A pain in the ass, you thought she'd say, "-an enigma."
Sevika rolled and dropped the map to where she got it and began walking upstairs, leaving you behind. "I got some checking to do on the lights, call me if you need me. Or don't."
Your eyes stays on her back until she disappears before they turn to your coat that's already dried up and safely hanging over the chair.
You're gonna leave it there for now, you decided. After all, you'll be here for quite some time.

(q/a for any confused readers!!)
making the potion wasn't difficult. after getting all the ingredients, you set it up, leaving it to bubble for a few days. during the time it brewed, you spent a lot of time with mia. talking and learning more about each other. sharing secrets, worries, pasts. long nights were spent in soft moments just talking together.
"hey, do you want some tea, mia?"
she looked up from the book she was reading, smiling sweetly as she nodded.
"yes please, thank you!"
you made the tea, sitting down next to her once it was done. she shifted, pressing against your side with a soft hum. she rested her head on your shoulder, the book tilted so you can read if you want.
"how far are you along?"
"about halfway? i just got past the part where the hero got lost."
you hummed, taking a sip from the tea before passing it to her.
"oh? thats right before it takes off."
she put down the book, trading it for the mug of tea.
"then i should take a break now so i can pay attention to you, huh?"
you huffed, tilting your head back and closing your eyes.
"you don't have to pay attention to me. i'll have to get up in a little bit to check the potion."
she hummed, a beat of silence passing before she spoke again.
"... you said that all magic has a consequence, right?"
that woke you up, your blood running cold at her words. you knew you'd have to have this conversation eventually. wanted to have it from the beginning so she would understand. but now... it seemed so serious for the calm night you had been expecting.
"that is correct... i suppose i should explain the consequences of this potion."
you sat up, shifting to face mia. mia mimicked your pose, resting the mug of tea on the table.
"you'll loose all your memories of your soul bound. that includes the visions and if you happened to meet one in this current life. in the future, you won't ever remember them like this again."
"that seems reasonable..."
you nodded, letting out a soft sigh.
"it does, but you'll only know after the fact if it is worth it. you may come to regret it."
you held out your hands, pulling a smile to your lips and squeezing hers when they landed in yours.
"but i'll be here for you, okay?"
she returned your smile, squeezing your hands.
"thank you, really. i-... i was actually thinking about it, and maybe... maybe after i can stay here...?"
you felt a wave of shock come over you, your eyes going wide. mia rushed forward when you didn't say anything right away.
"only if thats okay! i-i just though since i really like it here, that maybe..."
her voice faded out, and you stepped in, shaking off your surprise.
"of course it's okay. having you here... has been amazing really. i didn't realize just how lonely i was till you came here... and honestly?"
you tugged one of her hands up, brushing her knuckles against your lips.
"i would be honored if you stayed here."
mia's face broke out into a wide smile, her arms flying to wrap around your neck, pushing you onto your back from the momentum. you both let out soft laughs, hugging each other and just enjoying each other's presence.
--------------------------------------------------------
you handed mia the glass with hesitation, worried to just how severally it would effect her. she took it gently, glancing between it and your face.
"well, here goes nothing, right?"
you watched her as she downed the glass, the pale pink liquid slowly disappearing down her throat. a long beat passed before she stumbled forward, your quick reflexes catching her. you lead her to sit down, crouching in front of her nervously.
"mia? mia, can you hear me?"
it took a full agonizing 5 minutes before her eyes fluttered open, a hazy look in her eyes.
"hey, mia. how are you feeling? a-any different?"
she scrunched her nose, slowly pulling away from you.
"...who are you?"
you felt the color drain from your face, smile immediately dropping.
"w-what... mia, this isn't funny."
she furrowed her eyebrows, shifting further away in her seat.
"i'm not trying to be. who are you?"
you swallowed, hesitantly pulling away. you fell back on the ground, falling on your ass with a flop.
what a cruel twist of fate.
"i... i'm no one. just the witch who helped you."
mia's expression shifted, a grateful, but distant look in her eyes.
"oh! it worked? i... i don't remember... only when i got here."
you shook your head, forcing your numb form to rise to your feet, walking toward the kitchen.
"a side effect. you can go now."
she stood up moving toward the door, stopping right before stepping through. she watched you for a moment, hesitating.
"what about paying you?"
you shook your head, turning your back to her.
"you already did. you... gave me what i needed."
she hesitated a moment more before you heard her steps fade away. you stood there a long time, just hearing your blood rushing in your ears. every moment of the past month playing on repeat. gone. it was gone. mia was gone...
you glanced at the rest of the memory potion.
gone...

hey loves!!
theres just a little bit left for your myth card and then it'll be back to the current timeline. it's like, a paragraph or two and thats it!
thank you for all the support, it means a lot!
for your relationship with mia, it is up to you how you interpret it. it can be platonic or romantic, i think i left it general enough. but she is important to you, so sorry if you were after an enemy!! (soul bound bff or lover)
if it isn't obvious, i probably suck at writing angst or drama. the most drama i've had in my life is trying to be friends with a guy who had a crush on me. (don't do it!! it's bad!! trust me!!)
anywho, random chara lore ig
thank you for reading!!

Why YOU should vote for Ninomiya Youhei for the first student spotlight of Tetro Blue(when it comes out)
Okay okay I know what you’re thinking here. “Rosa…Tetro Blue not even out and we haven’t even seen the rest of the cast…WHY ARE YOU PROMOTING YOUHEI TO GET THE FIRST SPOTLIGHT!?” or “Rosa he already had a spotlight in Okazaki’s spotlight!”
To that I say WELL EXCUSEEEEEE ME PRINCESS BUT I GOT REASONS WHY WE SHOULD MAKE HIM THE FIRST SPOTLIGHT!
Besides I'm also trying not to be bias in promoting Ouno Nanae first just because I became very interested in her because we don't know much about her compare to Ninomiya.
Anyways~ So why should we once Tetro Blue comes out make Ninomiya Youhei the first student spotlight of Tetro Blue?
Points:
Point 1# We know the most about him: Okay so knowing the most about him would make him less likely to be picked right? WRONG! This just gives us more material to ask him personally on topics we already know about him thanks to Hanano. We can ask him about his parents, his drug use, his home, his lack of commitment, his cowardice, his diabetes, his relationship with Hanano etc. Sure, Hanano answered most of these for him, but that’s the thing. Its from her perspective. For all we know, Youhei might actually have a different answer to these questions or maybe go more in detail. Its different from getting it from an outsider than the source about something, so this is the perfect opportunity to.
Point 2# He’s student number 2: Its silly I know, but hear me out…I think it would be funny if we make it a trend where student 2# gets pick for the first student spotlight of every Tetro season. Harada got picked first during session one and his student number was 2. So if we want to keep up the pattern, we gotta make Youhei the first interviewee.
Point 3# His relationship with Okazaki: So with what we know from studentside and staffside a little. We know that Youhei is Okazaki’s roommate she ended crashing at his house after she burn down her van house. Their relationship was…intimate and he seemed to know and vibe with her super villain persona. So having some questions to get to know what he thinks of her with no worries now of her ever finding out what he’s saying, this would be a great opportunity to do so! Especially when you take in the info Hanano gave us with him “Having a hard time to committment”, “Nobody he would kill for” and “romantic relationships that only last a month”. This could be true as maybe he shared with her about how hard it is for him to find someone he wants to stay with knowing how he no longer has any connects with his family anymore. Not to mention he did have Okazaki as a romantic partner. Or this might be entirely true on Hanano’s part and she just assumed from her perspective that he was just afraid of making new friends or staying in relationships(this could apply to theirs as well). Another important point to this is knowing how the students were actually gone for 9 months instead of just one month. We could get some information on what time and month it was when Okazaki disappeared and hopefully Youhei(like Harada) remembers a little bit of what he was doing before he got kidnapped. Along with how he was doing handling Hanano’s disappearance.
Point 4# His talent: Obviously we gotta ask him about his talent! Along with how it correlates to his lifestyle. We know that Youhei is rebellious and has a punk sort of lifestyle. Very different from his parents and most likely created from how his parents treated him. But what is confusing is how he plays violin, an instrument that is usually considered elegance and sophisticated. This seems more like something from his lifestyle when he was with his parents right? So did he ended up playing violin because of them? And if so, does he still play it out of enjoyment he has for it despite how his parents force him to take it? Or does it resent it, possibly hating it now and even more now being given the talent of “Ulitimate Violinist”.
Point 5# He might die: Okay I know it really depends on the signs during ch.1 whenever we see it and us knowing how it was during Tetro Pink, we all grown to now see the potential death flags early and also how to do student interviews a bit better(Hama’s is still hilarious though). With Youhei, as much I hope he lives longer and even becomes a survivor. That’s is not a guarantee and I’m unsure if he’ll be on the chopping block early due to his having the biggest known connection to Tetro Pink being Okazaki’s roommate. So best to be safe than sorry in my opinion to at least try to get him a student interview early rather than risk it of waiting for future chapters. Not to mention even if he doesn't die in ch.1 and we have another chance in ch.2, we don’t know if any of those special events might happen that prevents a student from attending a spotlight(ex. Wada in ch.1, Hiroaki in ch.2 post ice fairy I think, Hayashi in ch.3 after she got teleported and beaten up, and the example we did get that happen to us Ojima Takeshi ch.4 student interview). So idk Youhei might explode or get beaten up in ch.2 so let’s get him an interview early!
Andddd that’s all the points I have for him. I might either reblog this for promotion or make a part two of it once ch.1 of Tetro Blue is out. But I hope this stays in y’all minds as we wait for Tetro Blue to come out. See you until Tetro Blue for promoting our favs to get voted!
Also vote for Ninomiya or THE PHANTOM THIEF OF NAGOYA WILL RETURN FROM THEIR GRAVE TO HAUNT YOU KONKONKON~!

Back from death
Description: Emily returns from her "death", and while you understand her reasons, you're not ready to start over with her.
Tags: angst, arguing, season 6, bau!reader, wlw (women leave women), hopeful ending (kinda)
English is not my first language. Also, thank you for the likes and reposts on the last post😊❤️

The house was quiet, only the clicking of Y/N's heels made sounds as she walked up and down, picking up her belongings that were still there. It wasn't hard, since she had packed most of them months before in huge boxes and bags. She hated being nervous, and she considered herself a thoughtful person, but then she couldn't help but almost explode. Her stomach was in a knot, her heart was beating a thousand times. She was overly suspicious, which was understandable given the events of the past few months, so it was no wonder she hissed and flinched when someone touched her leg.
"Oh, Sergio." she sighed with a small smile on her face when she saw that it was just the cat. "Are you trying to kill me, honey?" she leaned down to pet him.
As she was lost in the furry creature, she suddenly heard the door open. The faint smile immediately disappeared from her face. She let go of the cat, who ran away with it, and Y/N continued packing. She tried to take deep breaths to stay calm, knowing that her calm would soon be needed more than ever.
"Y/N" she heard Emily's contrite, soft voice from behind her.
Y/N swallowed hard, then slowly turned around. Emily stood there clutching her bag, the same pitiful, guilty expression on her face that she had worn since she returned from her supposed death. It happened a week ago, but she was still on the edge.
"I'm just going to grab a few things, and then I'm not even here. I don't have my key anymore, so I'll just close the door behind me." Y/N's voice was emotionless, as if a robot had been grinding the words, but her eyes reflected deep disappointment.
Y/N looked at the two bags on the bed and hissed mockingly.
"The cheating eight months ago was fake, right? You didn't cheat on me, you just told me you did, so I'd leave." she shook her head with a resigned smile. "You knew it would be obvious if you broke up with me, so you made me think you cheated, so I would break up with you. Fucking genius."
"Please, Y/N, let's talk." Emily took a step closer and dropped her bag on the floor "I'm so sorry, love, please." the remorse was clear on her as she tried to pull herself together, as she avoided eye contact, but still she scanned Y/N's face with her brown eyes.
"Emily, I already told you this is too much for me right now." the girl raised her hand, signaling the other not to come closer "Give me some time."
"Are you mad because I slept with him?" she asked desperately "Y/N, I know it wasn't nice, but..."
"Do you think my problem is that you slept with him years ago?" the girl snapped "If you really care, although I find it disgusting that you slept with a criminal, I know it was necessary to get him caught, and that's why I understand you. So no, Emily, that's not my problem."
Emily's breathing became more and more rapid.
"Y/N…"
"And before you ask, my problem is not that we thought you were dead for six months." she stepped closer, her planned calm gone. She held her anger in for too long. "While I have to tell you that burying and mourning you was pretty shit, I also understand that you had to hide for your own safety until we caught Doyle."
"Then why do you want to leave me?" Emily asked, growing impatient. "If you understand why I had to do what I did, why can't we sit down and talk about it so we can pick up where we left off?"
"Because you lied to me." Y/N snapped, her hands clenched into fists, her nails digging into her skin to hold back her tears. "You lied for months."
"I had to lie, I did it for your own good." Emily was unable to look her in the eye, her gaze bouncing back "I love you, and I just wanted to protect you. If you had stayed with me, Doyle would have killed you. You know what he was capable of." her voice was iron, her eyes misty from suppressed tears.
"Then why didn't you tell me you were in danger? Why didn't you tell us, your team, your family. We would have protected you, you know we would have done everything for you." Y/N raised her voice, her eyes barely visible from the tears "I would have left. If I had known how bad it was, I would have left, but I didn't know, Emily. My life was in danger, more than usual, every day, but I didn't know anything about it. I buried you, I thought I would die from the pain. I had to start my life over, while all I could think about was what I said to you when I thought you cheated on me. I felt guilty about it for months. It wasn't fair." her voice choked "It wasn't fair."
Emily, seeing what she had done to her lover, couldn't hold back her tears.
"I'm so sorry." was all she could say before she burst into tears.
“I understand you, and that's why I feel so bad for treating you like this, but at the same time I feel betrayed, humiliated. I love you, Emily, but if something would happen to you...I couldn't do it again. I'd rather let you go now." Y/N sniffed.
"Nothing will happen, I promise." she stepped closer. "Please, Y/N, please don't give up on us."
"I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do right now." she grabbed the two bags. "We can be collagues, perhaps friends, but that's all I can offer now. It'll be better for everyone."
Y/N walked out the door, and Emily didn't stand in her way. She knew she couldn't force it. She had to give Y/N time and wait for her to calm down. They would meet at work anyway, so she could at least see her, even if she couldn't hug or kiss her.
Emily sighed and sat down on the bed. She wiped her eyes with an old tissue that she fished out of her pocket. She had to think about how she could convince Y/N that it was worth starting over, but nothing came to mind. She nervously wrinkled the hem of her blouse, her hand wandering to her cleavage, where Doyle had marked her for life.
“You couldn’t kill me, but you ruined me anyway, you bastard.” she hissed as she shook her head angrily “Either way, you took Y/N from me.”
She lay back on the bed, her thoughts wandering. Shs was tired and defeated, but she was sure of one thing. She was going to win her back, one way or another.

Change of Heart 1/2
i made this little fic a few months ago... cant believe im posting this now😭😭 part 2
mean girl minjeong x reader. pretty overdone but it's too gooddd😩nothing explicit just winter falling for you
💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
You had always been invisible to people like Minjeong.
She was the school’s queen bee, the one everyone gravitated toward, the girl whose smile could send anyone into a frenzy and whose stare could crush your confidence without a single word. You were nothing to her—just another nameless face in the halls of the school. Most of the time, you stayed out of her way, keeping your head down, avoiding eye contact, because if you looked at her for too long, you might end up the target of some cruel remark. It was easier to blend into the background.
But recently, things had changed.
At first, it was subtle—a glance, a flicker of interest that you couldn't quite place. You'd catch her eyes across the room in class, and instead of the usual cold, dismissive stare, she'd hold your gaze a moment longer, as if studying you. Sometimes, there would be a small, almost knowing smile, one that was too soft to belong to the same girl who'd humiliated you just a month ago.
Then, one day after class, she was there—waiting by your locker, arms crossed, leaning against the row of lockers as if she had all the time in the world. You froze, unsure whether to turn around and pretend you hadn’t seen her or face her directly.
She tilted her head, narrowing her eyes as she looked you over with a strange intensity. This was a different Minjeong. Without her usual entourage, her sharp features seemed more like a weapon than before, aimed directly at you.
"You're still avoiding me," she said, her voice quiet but dripping with a certain edge. "I thought you'd be smarter than that."
You shifted uncomfortably, unsure of how to react. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Minjeong took a slow step toward you, her heels clicking ominously against the floor. "Don’t play dumb. I’ve been watching you, and I don’t like being ignored. You think you can just disappear in the crowd like everyone else? Not when I’m paying attention to you." Her voice dropped even lower, almost a whisper. "I’ve noticed you, and that means you don’t get to just blend in anymore."
The tension in the air was palpable. You couldn’t breathe, and for some reason, your heart raced faster with every word she said. Minjeong wasn’t threatening you—not exactly. But there was something in her tone that made you feel like there were no options for escape, no way to get out of this situation cleanly.
"I’m not interested in your games," you said quickly, trying to sound firm, even though your voice was trembling slightly.
Minjeong’s lips curled into a smirk, but it wasn’t one of amusement. It was sharper, more deliberate. “You think I’m playing games?” she murmured, stepping even closer, her body nearly pressed against yours. “Maybe. Or maybe I’m just trying to figure you out. You’re different from everyone else here, and I can’t stand that. I need to know why. I need to know everything about you.”
You didn’t know how to respond. What did she want from you? Why was she suddenly so fixated on you?
Her eyes lingered on your face, unreadable, her breath just barely brushing against your skin. For a moment, you couldn’t even think straight.
“I don’t care what you think you know about me,” you stammered, your mind racing for something to say that would make her leave. “I’m not interested in being your—”
She cut you off with a soft laugh, and for a moment, you could almost feel the power shift. “You’re so desperate to push me away,” she said with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “But you don’t get to do that. Not anymore.” Her voice was low, almost soothing, but the words felt like a warning. “You think I won’t notice? You think you can hide from me?” She leaned in closer, just enough so that your breath hitched in your throat. “I’ve been paying attention. And soon, you’ll realize you’re exactly where I want you to be.”
Her words hung in the air long after she finished speaking, the weight of them pressing against you. You didn’t know what was happening, but you could feel her watching you, feeling you, in a way that made every fiber of your being scream to run.
