ryo's identity issues are something i eat up with a spoon. ryo struggling between his identity as satan, as lucifer, and as ryo is something i just love. nothing is more fucking awesome than ryo realizing far too late that he doesn't belong as satan and he doesn't belong as lucifer but his heart is forever human and forever ryo— but he can't turn back, he can never be human again, and even if he could, the world is broken and the one he loved is gone.

devilman ramble- i'm not quite sure what the general take is but i consider crybaby ryo and manga ryo literal different entities... i feel like yuasa did have a decently profound take on him but stripped away so many qualities that made him ryo that i found it extremely disappointing what we ended up with... this isn't even about his design btw but ryo embodied and carried humanity's biggest flaws as an amnesiac human... he was erratic and insane and emotional and while he kept his affections for akira as a core part of his character in the anime it's like.. the WAY it's dealt with which irks me.. you don't really garner much sympathy for him as a character once he turns on akira until the very end where it's like... way too late to feel bad for him?

like i know manga ryo is not exactly the most consistently written character and his backstory is hilariously confusingly structured but having his Big Realization at the end be 'omg i love akira' rather than manga ryo who knew and acknowledged his love for akira but knowing he had no choice but to fight him because there's no other way to resolve it... and how he acknowledges at the very end atop that cliff in that whole monologue about how he basically acted the same way as the god he hated... it's so much more

the scene with xenon in the manga was Ok Awkward about the satan reveal but the internal conflict he was struggling with was so raw it was AWESOME also shoutout to this scene. the layers

Azrael

This picture a gift for @akirenhell who has become one of my dearest friends in the devilman fandom and who I have been doing Devilman RPs with :D This is @akirenhell 's oc Azrael, the angel of death and one of Satan's brothers and was the one who(In our RPs together) Satan turned to ask him to raise his children(My OCs Beel, Azazel and Judas) since he felt guilty about agreeing to make them into child soldiers in the first place and wanted his brother to raise them to be better while he prepares to fight God and Heaven. Azrael helps give the children an actual childhoods and they grow up a hell lot more well adjusted. Azrael as the angel of death is a very kindhearted and compassionate soul and brings comfort to those who pass on, and like his brother has a love for demon kind, but unlike Satan, he also has a love of humanity despite all their flaws and was heartbroken to see his brother hate and destroy humanity. But even so it pains Azrael to see his brother suffer throughout the time loops. 😭😭😭

duck never really liked transforming into a devilman. it hurts, uses a lot of blood and stamina, and most of all - it's messy. truly not the great western way, he thinks, but then he remembers that he's doing this for his family. and so he pushes through the physical strain and "proudly" bears the axe devil living inside him as his spinal cord.

if the tidmouth division has thomas as their devilman, the little western division has duck.

duck's buddies think it's quite gruesome how he hacks through devils and wild fiends ever so merrily….. maybe except for donald. for some reason the scottish bloke thinks it's really - how do I put this - awesome???

Dicctor's very very Awesome devilman fancomic

On Twitter I asked to see if there was an interest on a personal fancomic of Devilman, I didn't give much details (this concept is still in its drafting stage) but it was met with a lot of support. This post is a bit of an informal introduction because I just want to really get it out of the way that I've been working on this, and this is something that I will be working on for a while (I am a full time college student with a lot of work). This comic will primarily be inspired by the 1987 OVA of Devilman, therefore the designs are heavily referenced and based off of that (this comic is supposed to continue off of where it left off at the sirene bit).

Important Things to Specify

My interpretation of Miko is the one I really need to specify. As I'm sure most people have noticed, I head-cannoned the HELL out of Miko. I made a heavy amount of changes to her character for my personal fancomic. These changes can be considered good or bad, truly it's up to you! These changes include:

Tollg is a tree (weeping Willow) demon, therefore she has a tree motif rather than... the hole thing (breast holes were kept so not to stray too far from her original Devilman design)

Miko goes to the same school with Miki and Akira. This was done so she can be apart of the story more frequently (I want all four of them to be the protagonists of the story)

Biggest elephant in the room that people seem to have. A lot of issues with... Miko is south Asian, therefore darker (I have been working on ethnicity traits so this is portrayed even better)

Though this comic is based off the OVAs and will continue where it left off, it is completely different and separate from the original story! Sorry.

Anything that I will draw/make that's for my comic, be it concepts, finished pieces, panels, etc. will all be posted under "#demon uprising" in order to keep track and to avoid confusion. Another small detail is I put in different moles on each character so that it's more obvious that this is not the originals and rather, a fan interpretation of them (don't ask why I just think it's cool and cute)

the funniest thing that the devilman novelization (i think?) introduces to canon is the idea that akira and ryo's parents were coworkers. like. that's awesome to me

1. Scrubs.

God I loved this show so much, one of very few comedy dramas I enjoy. I can probably recite whole episodes from memory and would be happy to do so.

2. The Office

Probably a common pick but I really love the show. Last season was eh but overall stayed consistent. Really made me laugh a lot.

3. Parks and Recreation

Ron Swanson is who I want to be when I grow up. I quite honestly don’t even like Leslie all that much, Ron and April make this whole show for me.

4. Avatar The Last Airbender

A million moments and quotable lines. Top tier animation, awesome story. My only flaw with it is I wish it had another season. Otherwise it may be my perfect show. Phenomenal really.

5. Devilman Crybaby

VERY tonally different than the others I’ve mentioned but holy shit. Incredible, heartbreaking and gorgeous. One of the hardest shows I’ve ever watched and I’m not sure I’d watch it twice but it profoundly impacted me and goddamn was it a ride.

6. Parasyte the maxin

Probably my favorite horror anime ever? Really phenomenal stuff, love this show a lot. Another where the protagonist suffers profoundly but it’s still an excellent watch honestly.

7. Samurai Champloo

Mannnnn this was an anime! Seriously my favorite of all time. Not really a question or doubt in my mind about it either. Truly incredible and I love it dearly. Highly recommend it to anyone that ever sees this. Even if you don’t much like anime.

8. Criminal minds

Dr Spencer Reid is the fucking man and has an actually excellent character arc. Idk what’s going on with the later seasons but the first like 7-8 are pure gold if you can handle serial killer crime drama.

9. Mindhunter

SPEAKING OF SERIAL KILLER CRIME DRAMAS AND CRIMINAL PROFILING. It’s such an absolute fucking shame we didn’t get more of this show. I hold out hope yet.

10. Dexter

Whatttttt ANOTHER CRIME DRAMA!?!? Almost like I have a theme. A really fucking good show.
