There's some stuff to say about MCD ep36, but i want to talk specifically about Matilda.

We don't know a lot about her until this point, all we know is what we hear from other characters, and from Malik's diary (in which she is called 'milfina'), and it's unsure how much is still technically 'canon' or not even to this point, because we do get that name change and not much elaboration on her backstory or anything up until this point.

What we do know is that she abandoned her old village and came to Phoenix drop, where she met Malik, fell in love, so on. From Malik's diary, he says she was already there when he arrived, so we can't be sure of the timeline, but we know she 'quickly fell in love'.

Matilda also says that Malik (and other lords) are responsible for SKs being released onto the world, and i want to yap about SK stuff in another post, but this is significant to me because earlier in the episode Aph reads a note that seems to implicate Matilda in this too. Or at least implicates her in *something*. Either way, she has done something she feels guilty for, that Zenix was blackmailing her with, and whilst we can assume it's the SK thing, we can't really be sure.

There's also a quote by Matilda where Jesson kinda fucked up what they were saying and idk if they're saying Malik couldn't communicate with wyverns or that Matilda is also a descendant of Irene but cant communicate with wyverns, but.... y'know, that's not something i'm gonna speculate too greatly on. I'm the Aphblr reacher but I will give myself some boundaries.

Also, I want to bring up the 'Does Garroth remember me?' line again because it is one of the most repeated lines of evidence in favour of the dadroth theory, and whilst i can accept a multitude of reasonings for it, it is a line that will always stick out for me.

Matilda was never lord, it doesn't make sense for her to assume that Garroth would remember her, despite the magic of the king. Of course, she says he's 'noble', but we know from Burt that the only reason guards who are of 'pure heart' are exempt from being affected by Sk magic is because of the bond they have with their lord. Shadow/King stuff is sort of different as of this moment in the lore, but they are intertwined, and often used in place of each other even when recounting the same piece of lore. And so for Matilda to ask this isn't logical, because there isn't the lord/guard bond that would give Garroth that exception.

Unless, of course, it isn't a lord/guard thing, because (despite the complaints about jesson's writing) the story seems to be implying that there is a lot of religious deception and lies and misunderstandings about magic. And the lord stuff is very heavily intertwined with descending from Irene. Maybe the Lord/Guard bond isn't that, but some kind of bond formed between Descendants of Irene, and people they are close to, which does lean into the little 'is matilda a descendant of Irene' spec i said i wasn't gonna look into, but... still. Maybe Matilda and Garroth were, somehow, very close, and she assumed the bond between them was close enough to make the magic not work on him, but his heart just wasn't pure enough, or they just weren't that close, or the little bit of Irene blood she had wasn't enough to keep that connection.

Really i've been thinking this because there is no magical basis for lords. And i want to talk about this in my SK post, but Lords aren't... a magical thing. They're not being killed by knights because the breaking of that bond is completing that transformation, it's because The king wants all descendants of Irene dead, and Descendants of Irene typically take positions of lordship. So the idea that lords are only special because descendants of Irene are special is something that has just clicked to me. and it's so crazy.

October 9th: Creature Feature | Tremors

Tremors was released in 1990 and was directed by Ron Underwood. Two repairmen, Val McKee (played by Kevin Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Fred Ward), are ready to move on to bigger things than what can be found in their small town of Perfection, Nevada. But when mysterious deaths start occurring and a local seismologist named Rhonda (Finn Carter) begins to get strange readings, their trip gets put on hold. With the help of other locals such as cattle rancher Miguel Sanchez (Tony Genaro) and the libertarian doomsday-survivalist couple Heather (Reba McEntire) and Burt Gummer (Michael Gross), they must not only figure out what is killing of their neighbors but also figure out how to put a stop to it.

Tremors doesn't get as much love as it should, which is an absolute shame. In my opinion, it is probably one of if not the best B horror flicks of all time. The reason I picked Tremors out of all of the Creature Features is not just from the creatures themselves (called graboids), but for the fact that it's a smart movie pretending to be a dumb one. The characters are smart: they come up with plans and if one fails, they quickly brainstorm to think of another. The audience is allowed to speculate alongside the heroes as they learn more about the graboids and how they work, and the fact that the characters make pretty rational decisions gives such a sense of justification. It's funny, well-shot, and the creatures are entirely practical, and that makes Tremors an absolute gem of a movie.

Content Warnings for the Film (may contain spoilers): slight objectification of women (really only in the first part of the movie), violence, monster gore (it's orange though, just looks like pumpkins because it was), humans being eaten (not really graphic), dead animals (only aftermath shown)

Once more, get ready for some behind the scenes info because the practical effects in this movie are STUNNING.

The graboids were designed by Tom Woodruff Jr and Alec Gillis and this film was actually the first one their company Amalgamated Dynamics worked on (you might recognize them from Death Becomes Her, Sam Rami's Spider-Man films, the original Jumanji, IT, Alien 3, and Smile). The design was based off of snapping turtles, slugs, and rhinos, and were completely done with practical effects in the first film (although CGI with some practical effects would be used to varying levels in the later films). For their movement underground, boat buoys in a dirt trench covered by a layer of latex rubber was used, and the graboid guts were made of cotton batting stuffed in pantyhose that was then covered in slime and pumpkin pie filling. Since the graboids were so large, quarter scale models were seamlessly blended with full scale ones in order to get all of the shots they wanted, as well as a mixture of animatronics and puppets (both cable and hand). Tom Woodruff Jr actually puppeteered the full sized graboid named Stumpy from underground, with only an oxygen tank and flashlight down there with him. What a fucking king. Also fun fact, Arianna Richards plays the pogo-stick girl named Mindy, who is best known for her role as Lex Murphy in Jurassic Park.

It strikes me that literally no one on this site knows about any of my head cannons and any ships I have about THSC, even though I mostly post about THSC, so here's me yapping about them.

So, I'll start with headcannons first. Specifically:

Family Relationships:

-Henry is adopted and his adoptive parents are 2 gay dads (both of which, are dead).

-Ellie has 2 brothers and is a middle child. One of her brothers are dead, and she doesn't know where the other one is right now.

-Galeforce is NOT infact Charles' dad, but Charles does see him as a father figure.

-Reginald was born into the clan.

-RHM was put up for adoption as soon as he was born, but no one ever adopted him.

-Sven is Earrings' younger brother.

-Burt and his older brother Grew up with their Aunt because their dad and mom both died around the time he was born.

-Carol is Rupert's younger sister.

-Dave is fatherless.

-Grigori is Dmitri's younger half brother. Dmitri's parents divorced and Dmitri lived with his dad and stepmom.

-Henry, Reginald, RHM, and Dave are all only children.

-Reginald is a Vocaloid fan, no matter how hard he tries to deny it. He also has no fucking clue what the Japanese lyrics mean, and he doesn't care enough to look it up.

-Reginald has heterochromia.

-Reginald was born on 2/29 (or a leep year).

-No one knows RHM's name because he doesn't fucking have one and he is too embarrassed to admit it.

-Sven is a bit of a People Pleaser.

-RHM can freely change the color of his cybernetics, but he doesn't because people who pay too much attention to detail would freak out and think he was rewired. And because he just prefers red.

-RHM is fluent in Japanese.

-RHM has heard Reginald playing Vocaloid music whilst doing his paperwork. He has not told Reginald what the lyrics mean.

-Burt does need glasses and does have a pair of them, but he doesn't like wearing them (even if it means he can't fucking see).

-Terrance wasn't "Evil" per say, just an awful leader who didn't really know what to do 9 times out of 10.

I say it's because I don't have many, but in all honesty, it's because I'm a bit uncomfortable with drawing those kinds of things, and because i'd feel weird if I tried posting about them. Okay, a bunch of theories (and mysteries that need to be solved) for severance season 2 I’ve conjured up:

- Irving’s outtie is actually undercover, and might have figured out a way to recall some of his memories, even if it’s only in dreams or through art - he keeps painting the hallway to the test floor, and occasionally paint drips when his innie is at work. The fact he already had Burt’s address written and circled on the map also lends a lot of credence to this theory. Plus, while the stuff was hidden in a false bottom, I kind of wonder if he expected at one point for his innie to take over outside of work. He could have used a cipher for his information, but chose not to. Maybe his chip was tampered with by the same woman who reintegrated petey… maybe they’re working together?

- and he’s so intent on exposing Lumon because he knows that they’re planning to use this shit for military purposes. It always goes back to finding ways to kill other people, and what’s better than soldiers with no baggage or memories of home to weigh them down, that have literally nothing to live for outside of war, and at the end the original consciousness won’t have ptsd or be able to leak information?

- was all the navy stuff really Irving’s, or his father’s, or a mix of both? Is he trying to avenge his father who died in war, potentially due to Lumon’s involvement? I’m betting it’s that.

- Gemma was absolutely a test to see if mark would recognize her, and he couldn’t. But why use her as a guinea pig? She supposedly died in the car accident a minimum of one month before mark joined Lumon, and mark has been there 2 years, with ms Clare only being awake for a little over 100 hours in that time. No, they had her in their possession before he joined. I think they might have been looking for test subjects, and had enough power and money to straight up abduct people with severe injuries from the hospital and tell their families they died. Or, perhaps Gemma was conscious and they got her to consent to experimental life-saving medical procedures from Lumon, with the caveat that she would work for the company afterwards… and never leave it, living on the test floor. Probably left that part out though.

- the “revolving” is probably some shit where they upload their consciousness into a computer. They’re possibly the board. Scratch that, they’re probably the board.

- what was so important about that card that milchick needed to do overtime contingency to find it?? Why risk him seeing his family or even getting a single glimpse of his outtie’s life over a stupid card?? Even if they’re related to sleeper agent shit, why couldn’t it wait until he was back at work the next day?? I’ve seen some people say they didn’t want them to know they could smuggle shit out (which let’s be real there’s no way the writing detecting scanner works), but wouldn’t the outtie have noticed it on him? If they knew he didn’t have it, then just wait until the following day it must be at work…

- okay were the sex workers severed or not. Actually i really fucking hope not because that opens way too many fucked up shit.

- harmony had medical equipment that said “Charlotte cobel” on it. At first i thought oh wow maybe it’s a dead partner, but reflecting more it’s got to be a dead (or presumed dead) daughter. Lumon could have offered to save her life or treat her if she worked for them, which would give her major motivation and explain why she had such an intense breakdown upon being fired. Plus - she had to know all that breastfeeding stuff from somewhere!

The show runs on so much point and click logic, guys. Getting out of death traps because Batman had XYZ in his utility belt? Or figured out if he leaned to the left he'd throw the whole contraption out of whack and the blade coming for his face would slice the ropes instead? Don't get me started on the Batcave, there's a million puzzles waiting to happen in there. Plus so many great dialogue tree opportunities... (Imagine you could get like four different excuses to slip away from Aunt Harriet and you just pick the one you like the best lmao)

Hell even if we brought back the episodic formula of TellTale point and clicks we could have the perfect 5 episode arc: Our 4 biggest bads (Riddler, Joker, Penguin, and Catwoman) each get one episode, and then a grand finale where they all team up to enact the real plan they were building together all along. (Their powers combined, a Holy Nightmare!)

Functionally, it'd probably be like the Sam and Max games. You play as Batman, and Robin wanders around the scene, can be talked to, and frequently joins the conversation during dialogue trees.

Also let me Batusi at least once to solve a problem or I will riot.

I know Adam West is dead so we'll probably never get more 60s Batman content that requires voice acting, but realistically... so is everyone else except Burt Ward and Julie Newmar. And she seemed to be the least problematic one, mostly due to disinterest of the people there.

- Celci is depression. She wished she could’ve ignored the others and kept you frozen, maybe then you would’ve still be here. Be here with her. The ship, the crew, her life… without you, there’s no hope for her anymore. Yet, she’ll try to move on for you, just for you.

- Burt is acceptance. He knows you cannot come back anymore. Not with wormholes, plot convenience, anything. He will mourn for you, the deity of the stars. He’ll not make your death go in vain.

- The whole ship will go down without you. Why did you have to leave them? How selfish can you be to die?

- Wait… Don’t worry now, they’ll find a way to bring you back! At least I’m their own deranged mind they will find a way.

If you would run away

- You’re in space.

- Where would you exactly go?

- No where to hide from your crew, Captain.

- However, you managed to get away, how would they react?

- They wouldn’t even see it as you not loving them and understanding that you

- They would see it as you throwing a tantrum, they would think it’s because you want attention. Why didn’t they see that you were deprived from their love? That’s the only reason why you would act this way!

- Burt will stay on the ship, fluffing pillows and setting blankets for you when you get back. He knows some relaxing techniques to calm you down just in case you’re still in a meltdown mood.

- Gunther would believe you’d been kidnapped, so he’s strapped and loaded with ammo, merely believing that someone else saw how handsome and/or beautiful you were and wanted you for themselves. Why else would you be away from the ship?

- Mack is disappointed in you, saying that this is why you’re not meant to be Captain, and be their protected little lover. You apparently need to understand that you can’t just go on a rebellious phase and do whatever you want. He knows what’s best for you, the whole crew does, so you need to get back in his arms.

- Celci is angry about you running off like a toddler. Your emotions are unpredictable, and she needs to watch over you more to ensure that you won’t cause any more tantrums. “Even if it means keeping them chained, they would understand that what they’re doing is dangerous for them,” She would say.

- Mark… well he’s still delusional as fuck. He squats about how worried he is, whether you would survive without him and the crew, and begs for Celci, Mack, and Gunther to go easy on any punishment they have, because you don’t know better, which is why you need them more.

- They eventually find you, and let’s see how it goes: If you would run when seeing them, they would give chase. Gunther might see it as you playing a game, Celci might see it as you still having a tantrum, Mark might see it as you being scared of a punishment, Mack might see it as you rebelling for attention.

- But it all ends with you getting captured and brought back to the ship. No matter how much you kick and scream, pleading for them to let you go, saying that you don’t love them, their minds are clouded with love and delusions.

- You’re in a cuddle pile with your ‘lovers’, unable to do anything but cry in frustration, wishing you’d had more time to run off. But don’t worry, you’ll be saved soon.

- Unfortunately, it’s by three yandere and delusional aliens. Now, we have Bandit, Allu, and Wug joining the hunt for your love.

It's been a while since Carol and Y/N started dating, and it turned out to be better than expected.

But it was also new for Y/N since she wasn't so used to being around someone so bright other than her father before he passed.

When the whole block found out about them, they were surprised because they were polar opposites—well, they were opposites when Carol wasn't acting all tough.

Every time you see Y/N, don't be surprised to see Carol right after or, better yet, next to her.

Y/N ended up joining in on Carol and Frieda's drug shop since she had some very good experience selling herself.

And that's how she ended up in the hidey hole with her girlfriend eating a bag of chips as she watched her girlfriend's toy with Frieda's picture on the wall.

After some moments, Frieda walks in and stops in her tracks, seeing what Carol was doing.

"Hey Frieda, your dad's hot and all, but I have other plans. I hope you don't mind now. That is human perfection, right, Frieda," she giggled out, replacing her picture with a poster of Burt Reynolds.

Y/N gave Carol a hard side eye. Y/N hated Burt Reynolds because he took away Carol's attention, even if he was on a piece of printer paper.

"I have to go to the bathroom," she said.

"Ok, don't be long," Carol said, kissing her girlfriend's cheek.

Y/N got up and turned the corner away from view.

Not long after she left, Barbra turned the corner with her girls, and they started arguing back and forth, and it looked like a scuffle would go down between them.

"Look at you, Carol; you're a child amateur like you have no business selling horses," Barbra said.

"Who's amateur?" A cold voice said from behind Barbra and her goons jumped and whipped around to see Y/N standing there like a statue, her face still and cold as normal, her tall frame basically towering over them.

"Who the fuck are you?!" Barbra exclaimed, looking at the tall woman in shock. Y/N said nothing and pushed past the older sister, walking straight towards Carol.

"Y/n!" Carol squealed in excitement and instantly latched onto her girlfriend like a leech, while Y/N gave her a very faint smile and just allowed her to do whatever.

"Um, excuse me, I was talking to..."

"Shut up," Y/N interrupted the older sister with a cold glare.

"Who the fuck do you think you're talking to?" Barbra sneered, stepping into Y/N's personal space, which upset Carol tremendously.

"Fuck off!" She sneered, pushing her sister with excessive force and making her stumble back.

Y/N quickly pushed Carol behind her, ready to defend her if Barbra tried to attack when she recovered from the push, but she did nothing but dust herself off and chuckle.

"Oh, I see what this is," she chuckled, smiling with her pearly white teeth showing.

"My little sister finally let her dyke flag fly." Barbra and her girls cackled while Carol gripped onto Y/N's uniform, her fist clenched and shaking with anger.

Y/n stepped closer to Barbra when she wasn't looking, grabbed the collar of the raven's hair jumper, and pulled her eye level so that she was looking dead into Y/n's cold golden eyes.

"Talk about her like that one more time, and I'll split you into two," she sneered, her eyes growing wider with each word.

Barbra leaned her face away from the very disturbing and uncomfortable eye contact, but she didn't have to much longer because Y/N pushed her right into her girl's, making them all fall to the ground.

Carol tried to hold in her laughter as she watched her sister and her workers scramble onto their feet and run out of the hidey hole.

"Are you ok?" Y/N asked about checking Carol over for any very invisible injuries.

"Of course, and that was fucking amazing!" She said she was happily wrapping her arms around Y/N.

Y/N's ears turned red as she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend.

Y/N felt a small sweat drop down her forehead while watching her soulmate lose her temper.

They were down by one full base, and D-block was in the lead for the first time.

"Carol," she said, grabbing Carol's elbow in a firm grip and stopping her movement all together. Carol took a deep breath and dropped her cigarette before stomping it out of the ground.

She turned away from her minions and faced her lover: "I refuse to lose to Barbie! But all of our good players were released, and Frieda is sick," she grumbled, stomping her foot like a little child.

"I'll go"

"Huh?!" Carol asked, bewildered.

"If it makes you happy, I'll go," Y/N said.

"But you don't even know how to play," Carol said, and Y/N shrugged.

"Kick the ball and walk the field; it sounds easy to me. I just want you to be happy," she said with a small smile.

Carol's frown turned into a bright smile as she clung onto her girlfriend.

"I don't know what I would do without you," she said, happily kissing Y/N's cheek a bunch of times. Y/N said nothing; her red ears told Carol everything.

When Y/N was able to release herself from Carol's hold, she walked towards the field, eyeing the older Denning sister intensely.

She kept her hands in her jumper pockets the entire time as the ball was rolled to her.

Everyone's faces turned into shock as they watched Y/N, with minimum effort in her stance, kick the ball so hard that it flew right past Barbra's head, nearly taking it off her shoulders and making her fall over onto the field.

The ball flew past the trees in front, and nobody moved a muscle as Y/N started to calmly walk the entire field, touching each goal until she made it back to the first one.

"Score" was all she said before the entire C-block erupted into cheers; they won once again.

Y/N could see in the corner of her eye a small silhouette barreling towards her before a body collided with hers, but she just stood her ground, taking the weight of the person completely.

Carol gave her a long kiss on the lips before pulling away. Y/N's heart fluttered when she saw the brightest, happiest, closed-eyed smile on her girlfriend's face. It reminded her of her other father every time he smiled at her or her dad.

And it felt good to see something that resembled her father, even if it wasn't him.

"You're the best!" She exclaimed.

Y/N loved seeing her smile.

Now that's a fascinating idea!

I would say that, for the projects of hers I have seen (because there are so, so many), I could see some of her characters getting along and some...not.

Maleficent, with every right, simply is not a people person. Even moreso than Thena, she has no desire to socialise. I could see her respecting some of the other characters but I don't imagine her as someone who makes friends. Although maybe with Salt.

I really did like Salt, and I think the persona of how her cover became more of her than her past life is very interesting. And by the end of the film as it's presented, she's totally revenge driven, and gaslight-gatekeep-girlboss, I'm in! But Evelyn is a 'my husband' girlie, so I could see her getting along with Thena in that regard.

Hannah from Those Who Want Me Dead is so cool, and so badass, and honestly I don't think she would fuck with any of the other Angies. She looks at Maleficent and Thena like they're aliens (well, I mean...), she can relate to Evelyn a little bit, but Hannah is all hard shell and pure PTSD underneath. Although maybe they could bond over drinks, how Hannah took in that kid and Evelyn had that little dog, Burt.

I didn't actually watch Girl Interrupted or Wanted, but I would say those two might be...exceptions.

Now, in terms of animated works, there are the two big ones, Shark Tale and Kung Fu Panda. And I did actually see a post including Tigress and Po in the structure of Angelina's badass character getting a male-wife, set alongside Gil/Thena and Maleficent/Diaval. And I never shipped Tigress and Po, but it does adhere to the structure, I concede.

I love that Angie still likes action movies even in voice over, and I love the idea that she liked the character of Tigress and the theme of found family in the movies.

And Mr. and Mrs. Smith goes all the way down here because I didn't like that movie. It reeks of the early 2000s and doesn't use Angie well and it's written poorly and doesn't make sense and that's before I even get to her co-star.

Jane is so underutilised it's criminal. I would love to have seen more of her as a character--the fact that she reads while walking around the house, or in bed, or while 'cooking'. The fact that she's hypercompetitive and that she maybe has some anger issues around her own feelings and how to express them. She's a jealous type who childishly started kicking her husband after finding out he got drunk married in vegas once!

Angie gave Jane a character, we just didn't get to see more of it.

I was debating if I wanted to write this rant, because I don’t like to be too negative on this blog, however I do like talking about my opinions and since you asked.... sure ;) here it is haha

I am putting it under the cut for those who don't want to be confronted with negativity though!

I'm not saying everything in this episode sucks. There were some scenes that definitely made me giggle, but the main thing with this this episode is that it's too chaotic for me. everyone is acting without thinking and making decisions that make me uncomfortable. I can’t really explain it, but the whole vibe is just off...

I really dislike the day-drinking and the performances under influence. I am not against drinking, it can be a lot of fun, it's just that irresponsible behavior with alcohol makes me nervous and feel out of control. I'm aware that those are just my personal issues, but its just not my type of humor.

another issue is that I dislike most of the songs in this episode... staring with my controversial opinion is that the song "blame it on the alcohol" sucks. I don’t like how it sounds and I don’t like the vibe (probably for the same reasons I mentioned above). I don’t like the "tick tock" performance and I just can’t stand vomiting. so yeah.. hated that part. The bourbon, scotch and beer song is just... idk, bad? Honestly "my headband" was the best song that episode.

I disliked the whole house party and almost everything that happens during it. People being dickish towards Rachel for not throwing a cool enough party, fuck that. bad friends. The whole spin the bottle scene makes me uncomfortable. The way Finn talks to Rachel as well as Rachel being really annoying, the music, the stereotypes, and again, the whole vibe.

Will's drunk dial. It's gross and creepy. ew.

The weird cowboy bar scene with Will and Beiste.

Burt was acting out of line towards Kurt about Blaine sleeping over. Kurt was in the right there.

The klaine fight and Kurt's biphobic comment. yeah... not it. What I dislike most with this, is that it was never resolved? They just ignored it all together.

Rachel is being a shitty friend to Kurt, dating the guy she KNOWS Kurt is in love with.

I think that about covers my issues with it... lets just say I wasn't the target audience for this episode.

But all this negativity asideeeee. It wouldn’t be me if I didn't end it on a positive note, so I am also gonna list the things I did like:

Kurt's party outfit??? holy fucking shit he looked hot. still can’t believe Blaine wasn't all over him, like what???

Tina just leaving her locker open because closing it would sound like a gun shot. that made me giggle

Kurt's silly dance moves, the little furt conversation panning to Blaine's dancing. incredible.

Santana's crying when Will tells the kids the dangers of alcohol after biota.

How pretty Rachel looks in the scene where her and Kurt they tidy up the house <33

and ofc the last scene: "Yup, I’m gay. 100% gay. Thank you so much for clearing that up for me Rachel." dying. dead. so fucking funny.
