In my quest to find affordable homes, I was so happy to find this cute little 1920 bungalow in the lovely town of Magnolia, DE, w/3bds, 1ba, for $249,900. But, then it creeped me the hell out. Let's take a tour and you'll see why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cute little front porch opens into a good-sized enclosed porch that could be used as a mud room or a quaint little sun room with some plants.
Tumblr media
Then, you enter a nice large living room with a Craftsman style wall and columns separating it from the dining room. Isn't this lovely, so far?
Tumblr media
How cute is this? And, Delaware is know for its low taxes.
Tumblr media
The sweet little kitchen is completely original. Look at the door.
Tumblr media
It has a dishwasher, which is always important to me, and look at the little shelves on the end of the cabinet.
Tumblr media
The kitchen's not so little, though- it has room for a washer/dryer tucked out of the way, next to the fridge. Looks like they removed all their overhead light fixtures, and capped them off, though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Typical 1920s era hallway to the bedrooms have all original doors and moldings. There's a linen closet and a trap door in the ceiling for the attic.
Tumblr media
The bedrooms aren't huge, but they're adequate. My cousin grew up in a house like this and it was so cute.
Tumblr media
This is a larger room. I don't know what that is on the left.
Tumblr media
This may be the primary bedroom. It's a sweet starter home, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The bath was nicely redone with appropriate tiles and pedestal sink. The original built-in medicine chest is still intact.
Tumblr media
The basement isn't finished, but it has potential and there's a work bench down here. Look, they left the new owner a trophy.
Tumblr media
So, then I went up to the attic and they left a set of dining room chairs. Score, i thought.
Tumblr media
And, there's also a cedar lined closet for winter clothes. Cool. But then, I saw this-
Tumblr media
Holy grandma's ghost, Batman, there's even a remote on the seat. Is that a cable wire on the left? Has anyone seen the Disney movie, "The Electric Grandmother?" A wealthy family had a robot grandma made to order, and she was shipped in a sarcophagus and lowered by helicopter into their yard. Every night she would go down to the basement, sit in her chair, and charge. Chocolate milk shot out of her wrist, too. I got so creeped out when I saw this!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
House is on a .29 acre lot and has a large decrepit building in the back, which I hope they save.

The man on the radio is back once more ... for how long, who knows? Where has he been? Who knows? Does he even know he's been gone? Perhaps he has continued performing his show with the Lost Postman as his trusty aide in some alternate Universe and has no idea of our wonderings as to his waywardness. Weatherwise we have 12 to 15 degrees today, sunshine is MIA, thermal everything is required ... I've even put thermal covers on the deckchairs. The traffic lady may just have mentioned the cold start, the lack of attention paid by motorists and one or two collisions. The chef on the radio flung his virtual frying pans around with unknown ingredients in them.
Today's groaner: A woman texts her husband on a cold winter’s morning, “Windows frozen, won’t open.” Her husband texts back, “Slowly pour some lukewarm water over it and then gently tap the edges with a hammer.” 5 minutes later the woman texts back, “Computer really messed up now.” ;-D badoom tish … here all week!!
Friday the 13th and the spiders are coming in! I have no problem with spiders, regardless of size ... but, according to the man on the radio, others are not so welcoming. I'd call the size of this one a 'Delilah'. There was a 'Goliath' version in the bathroom, but I fear she may have ventured upstairs and become extremely short term friends with Loft Cat.
Not long after this one came in, she ended up floating in the dogs' water bowl. I retrieved her, watched her run up the long curtain by the back door and, in due course, she returned to her original position.
On only one occasion have I decided against a spider setting up camp. That particular one was larger than my hand. Impressive legs that moved finger like across the floor and she eventually came to rest on one of my boots. I picked up said boot and left it outside the front door. I often wonder if that was her full size or whether she grew bigger and bigger and eventually made off with a few of the neighbourhood cats. ;-)
Friday, Friday, Friday ... paraskevidekatriaphobia (fear of Friday 13th) is rife in Ireland so there will be many still abed that have no intention of coming out from beneath the duvet. Let's hope they fare better than New Yorker Daz Baxter. On Friday 13th in 1976, he decided to just stay in bed for the day, only to be killed when the floor of his apartment block collapsed under him. Highly likely they will as there's an awful lot of bungalows on the Emerald Isle ...

Mid Century Modern Lunacy
As always, here is the video!!
youtube
For today's post we move inside and take a look at the main floor of this amazing abandoned Mid-Century Modern house!!
In this explore, we have a great mid century ranch style home that was built in 1970. From the outside it looked to be in really rough shape with most of the roof missing its tiles, some of the windows had also been removed.
Once inside we see that the house looked much the same as when it was built 50 odd years ago! With vintage wallpaper, a yellow kitchen counter and a very eclectic looking basement…everything you would expect to see in a high end house from the era. The home had lots of wood details, large windows and even a partially enclosed porch area that had been turned into a sunroom.
In the basement there were even some cartoon characters somewhat crudely drawn onto the walls, and the home is rumored to have once been owned by an animator that had worked for Disney and Hanna-Barbera. I was unable to confirm this, however the drawings in the basement did play into the story. The owner died in 2018 and the home has sat abandoned ever since!
This house a was a joy to explore and I am sure that you will like it as much as I did!

I don't know what to make of this little bungalow style home in a suburban neighborhood in Buchanan, Ontario, Canada, b/c it thinks it's a designer home, but it's just decorated w/fake designer stuff. I wonder if that's why the small 2bd (plus they made 2 more bds. in the basement) 2ba home is $699,999.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the tiny living room they've got bling-y furniture and "Chanel" textiles.
Tumblr media
Small dining room also decked out in Chanel.
Tumblr media
Primary bedroom is small.
Tumblr media
Small 3pc. bath.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've never seen drippy Chanel logos.
Tumblr media
The other 2 bds. are down in the finished basement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hmmm. Must be damp down here b/c there's a dehumidifier. This must be a rec room.
Tumblr media
This is bd. #3.
Tumblr media
And, bd. #4.
Tumblr media
There's a full kitchen down here.
Tumblr media
Bath #2 is in the laundry room.
Tumblr media
There's a deck on the back of the house, but this furniture won't come with it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There're 2 sheds and a pavilion in the yard and it looks like there's a camper behind it.
Tumblr media
The home is on a standard 50 x 100 lot. I just think that $700K is too much for a house this size- it's nice, but the rooms are very small for that price.
