A/N: HI HELLO! ITS THE BITCH WHO NEEDS A BETTER UPLOAD SCHEDULE. Thankfully, tomorrow is the last exam before break!!! And I’m gonna be on vacay the whole time so!! Lots of writing to be done! This blog is not dying anytime soon I swear on my heart.

Enough rambling. I really did enjoy writing this fanfic! I haven’t done a Floofty x Reader before, but I like to think while they’ve still got a few walls and that stubbornness…they can be open and emotional vulnerable around their parent. With that said, I hope they’ve been done justice!!

Floofty x Reader (Rest Up)

“It is 3 AM, why won’t you just go to bed?”

You watch Floofty’s tired, groggily body turn to face you, squinting like a hairless cat that had been out in the sun too long.

“I am,” they state, eyebags growing eyebags under their eyes,”Perfeeeeectly fine.”

“You’re slurring your words.”

“Irrelevant.” Floofty dimissies, waving you off. They turn back around, carefully typing while looking at the notes they took during their experiments.

You click your teeth. You loved Floofty, you really did. But you always had to be a bit concerned when they did things like this, burying themselves in their work and ignoring their mental and physical health.

“Floofty, when was the last time you even ate? Slept??” You questioned, almost like a demand.

That second of hesitation speaks volumes. “Everything,” Floofty finally answers, “-is fine.”

“Floofty.”

They avoid your eyes. “I just…I just need to finish these notes.”

“Floofty.”

“Just….” They yawned. They sighed, pushing their goggles up on their face. “…I have to do this.”

You don’t respond for a bi, letting the silence echo for a moment before sighing. You walk towards your partner and hold their paw up, gently holding it alongside your own. Floofty sighs, exhaustion in their town.

“…I just…it doesn’t feel like I’ve gotten anywjeee as of late.” They mumble. “My research is hitting a dead end, either due to my own inability to catch Bugsnax or lack of volunteers beside myself.”

“You’d know I’d help you in a heartbeat, right?”

Floofty huffs. “I don’t want to risk hurting you.”

“So you rather hurt yourself?”

They fall very quiet after that one. You nuzzle into their neck, feeling them purr softly.

“I promise to help you in someway.” You state. “But it’s late, love. Let’s go to bed.” You take a bit of pride in the bristle of their fur at the mention of the l-bomb.

“Y-you know I could care less for petnames…” They respone, a faint stutter in their voice. There’s no malice either. You’re finally able to pull the purple grumpus from their seat, taking off their bow tie and goggles.

“Was that so hard?” You ask teasingly.

“Shush.” They grumble, cozying up to you in the bed.

You giggle slightly, brushing their locs back just to kiss their forehead. “Love you, Floofty. Sleep well, ok?”

“Hmm…..Love you too.” It’s quiet, but that’s ok. Because it’s for your ears only. And so is the sound of their soft snores that drift you off to sleep right with them.

just saw someone ask about floofilbo and beffloofty (and all 3 of them together) but what are your opinions on floofbuddy? canon-compliant journalist or an oc, whatever works. and as a bonus, floofty/buddy/filbo trifecta?

I'm honestly kinda "eh" about Floofbuddy. It can be done well, and I've seen it be some of the best fics and comics in this fandom! The journalist can be shipped with literally any member of the cast and have it work, too!

But there's not enough depth or background to our journalist for me to care that much.

Yeah, they're snarky, and weird, and that works, but there's enough blanks that every single journalist is someone's ocs.

That brings me to floofty x oc! Like most oc ships, it depends on the oc! I have a weird perspective on OC x Floofty, as I personally use Floofty as MY self insert, so for me to be goo-goo ga ga over a flOC ship I have to be in love with and enamored with the oc. It doesn't stop me from being supportive of the ship if I'm not, but it leads me to being much more analytical than most would be.

A theme I see in a lot of floc ships is a completely blank oc or just shy enough to let whatever their interpretation of Floofty is shine. I rarely see ocs challenge Floofty in any way, which is what I personally think they would want, but I have to acknowledge that these ocs are very likely self inserts and the artist is the one in love with Floofty, not the oc. They can behold their beloved floofty however they want.

The grand majority of floofty oc ships are amazing, honestly! I can't think of a single one I DONT like. I'm just flattered mostly.

I have my own OC x Floofty ship, I kinda ship my oc mango with them, and Mango's life goal is to ruin everyone's day and make smoothies. Nobody challenges floofty more than someone who challenges EVEYRTHING. I'm lukewarm on it since Mango dies a lot and I'm not always in the mood for romantic tragedy

Filbuddfloofty covers a lot o the same ground I've covered before. In fact, the Jory almost and Beffica are similar enough in their work drive and career choices that the headcanons and date stuff I talked about in my previous post can be carried over.

Through getting Floofty into cryptozoology would be so fucking great. The sceptic to Buddy's believer. And Filbo as the frightened one while the trio looks for ghosts and Bigfoot.

Filbo would see grumpfoot, think he's just A Guy and start chatting while Floofty and Buddy look on terrified.

behold, my design for the Journalist! you can't really tell with their chest fluff and camera, but they are wearing a puffy jacket vest

some information and backstory for the Journalist

One, they are an experiment made by the grumpinati, they can shape shift into a more... animalistic (?) form, like, their claws, which are already longer than the average grump, become bigger and longer, and their legs become a Hell of a lot longer and faster, and they grow a tail and back spikes, as well as horns and long floppy ears, but I might get rid of those at some point.

Two, when they shape shift, they become Scary strong, like, they can scale the side of the frosted peak in two minutes strong, as well as becoming super fast, like, part of their morning routine on snaktooth was wake before everyone one else, and just run around the forest as fast as possible while jumping from tree to tree.

3, Chandlo knows they can shape shift, and they know how strong the journalist is, but they don't know that their an experiment and that they don't want people to know that they can shape shift, So one day their just like, "hey, I saw running around the forest yesterday, you wanna race?" and the Journalist is just internally panicking, and worried that their gonna find out they used to be part of the grumpinati, and that they will abandon them, which leads me to...

4, they have really bad abandonment issues!! :D, because of a certain grump who won't be named, they think if anyone finds out that their an experiment and was part of the grumpinati, they will leave them and betray them, so they try their damn best to look and act like a normal grumpus.

5, and because of that certain grumpus, they are also scared of getting into a romantic relationship, not only because of the only example of a romantic relationship they ever had, was a toxic and manipulative one, their also scared they might hurt someone because of/ for the person they are in love with. when they were in a relationship, their partner made them act out on, for lack of a better term, "yandere" tendicies and urges, someone of the opposite sex talks with their partner? their partner let them k*ll them, someone flirts with their partner? they are tortured and eaten, their partner flirts with someone else? they get really jealous and depressed, and have a panic attack, and c*ts themselves. because of this, they don't want to get in a romantic relationship with anyone, on a lighter note,

6, floofty helps them cope with these tendicies in a healthy way, as well as snorpy, while the journalist didn't say that their partner was in the grumpinati or that they actually k*lled or eaten anyone, they did say that they had these thoughts and urges, and that their partner supported these thoughts, and made them have frequent panic attacks, and somehow floofty dose a really good job helping them, as well as snorpy, and because of this, their now a little less scared of getting in a relationship, but they still aren't quite ready just yet.

7, they have the Biggest crush on filbo, and they aren't even aware of it :), yep, they are just as, maybe even more, oblivious like snorpy, and everyone knows, especially beffica ;).

8, they only know of one movie and one movie only, and that is killer klowns from outer space, now I may be projecting here because that is one of my favorite movies, but dammit it is a good 80's movie and I implore you all to watch it, anyway, Because they only know of one movie, they only know of one way to watch a movie, and that is through VHS tapes and VHS players, anything else is a mystery to them, So when filbo moves in with them they ask "why do have a vhs player? can you not afford anything else?" and their like "what do mean? there isn't another way to watch movies is there?" and then they are informed of flatscren tvs and streaming services, and they finally get one, they are simply, Enraged that netflix dose not have killer klowns from outer space, and only use it when filbo uses it.

I see their relationship as a sort of opposites attract deal! A well spoken morally grey scientist and an empathetic country boy is so good 💚

As for how their relationship came to be let's start with a harsh truth: gramble is INCREDIBLY unhealthy lmao. He's definitely malnourished and sleepwalking is NOT a sign of good health. Since eggabell isn't around for the majority of the player/buddy's stay, snaxburg had only one person that could barely qualify as a doctor.. You see where I'm going with this

Luckily floofty wasn't needed (or wanted) very much for medical attention but gramble inevitably hurt his tiny fragile cringefail body somehow and floofty was the only one around to help. This leads to an extended stay with good ol doctor fizzlebean to fully recover and self indulgent fanfiction nonsense ensues. I like to think that gramble (although fearing them a bit) finds floofys intelligence very admirable and floofty finds grambles demeanor and manner of speaker to be,, charming

Things sort of flow naturally from there and they can probably teach eachother some things too. Floofty can learn from gramble to consider the feelings if others more often and gramble can learn from floofty to take better care of himself. Also, they both have family related issues to work through I'm sure that has potential for something

A ship I have with said character: Floofty x Buddy I always had a soft spot for. Them and Gramble was not a rarepair I expected to get into either with how different they are but here I am. Floofica is also a really good one and super fun. Floofty x Triffany x Wambus polycule is fun as hell and frankly the only instance I'll ship them with Triffany ever.

A BROTP I have with said character: Only Triffany and Buddy.

A NOTP I have with said character: Anything that pushes the "Floofty the Wifestealer" thing because I won't lie that just gets weird in vibe. So stuff like Floofty x Eggabell and Floofty x Triffany is on my HARD no list. For the latter I'm only okay with it if Wambus is involved to make it a polycule like mentioned above because that removes the icky vibes that pushing him out give me (also I hate that one person who insists on hating Troubleblog so I hate Flooftany out of spite lol). And I hate the ship with Eggabell and everyone that likes Floofty x Eggabell or even trying to force it in with LizEgg as a polycule. Anyone who ships that doesn't understand the characters whatsoever and should stay the fuck away from me. (Also, shouldn't have to state the obvious no here, so I shall'nt.)

A random headcanon: This is not new but the idea of them actually being really good with grumplings despite looking the type to not want to bother with that has always stuck in my mind and it'll never ever get out.

General Opinion over said character: Interestingly I remember not being fond of them in the past, but after seeing people analyze them and helping me understand why they're like that way I've gained a soft spot for them. I really like them a lot. Not a FAVE fave but deeeeefinitely way up there. I do hate fanon Floofty since weirdos have gotten a hold of them (You know who you fucking are) and I hate how they are usually depicted in fanon outside a few friend's ideas. So This all only applies to canon Floofty and a very VERY small set of friend's fanons.
