Eddie chose their bachelor party outfits
Buck explains that it was an 80’s themed party and that he was dressed as Crocket and Eddie as Tubbs, then Eddie corrects him and says HE is Crockett and Buck is Tubbs.
We all know Buck’s pop culture knowledge is lacking and the fact that he got their character names mixed up and Eddie corrects him tells me that Eddie chose them. Why is this interesting?
Because Crocket and Tubbs are the guys from Miami Vice. If you don’t know it we’ll forgive you since it aired from 1984 – 1989, before a lot of you were probably born or old enough to be watching it. Before either Buck or Eddie were born too, by the way (and Christ don’t I feel old since I was in high school when it ended).
So, Eddie choosing to go as Sonny Crockett is FASCINATING to me. Quoting heavily from this article:
“Sonny struggles with depression, gets attached easily and just as easily hurt and makes dad jokes. Sonny is prickly, vulnerable, and deeply sad. I would also argue that he’s pretty heavily queercoded, and I don’t think it’s entirely unintentional.”
Sound somewhat familiar at all?
Interestingly, the penultimate episode of season 1 is titled Evan. Why is that interesting, you ask? As this article says, “Oh, you know, it’s then the moment Sonny’s possible bisexuality starts to seem like an intentional implication rather than an accident of incautious scripting”…
There’s a lot more to Miami Vice of course, and my memory of it is filtered through 30 years of life so it’s not perfect. You can find out more for yourselves if you want. I just find it very interesting that it’s Eddie who went as Crockett instead of Buck.
Interesting and exciting when we view it through the lens of Buddie possibly going canon in the future.
Why did you choose to be Crockett, Eddie? What is your subconscious telling you that you aren’t ready to hear yet Mr Diaz ‘who freaked out that your girlfriend was a Catholic nun’, hmmm?
I wonder…

I know that li have always been treated particularly badly by fans of rhe show but it had reached entirely new levels with tommy and lou...
Do you thinks it's bc it was easier to write off the women bc they weren't a tangible threat (like not trying to downplay ow they were treated, but with the women you could still play the rddie is a repressed gay man and buck just doesnt know hes in love yet) but with tommy he's a man and he was seen as the final stepping stone for buddie. (Hence why so many that have been stirring up the hate were initially gushing about the kiss etc).
Like it was a case of being closer than ever but suddenly he's hanging around and in someways a greater threat than ever bc if he doesn't leave what was the point of making buck bi if it wasn't leading to buddie canon.
I'm not sure I'm getting my point across but am I making sense?
You got your point across perfectly, nonnie. No worries. And you're right. When both Buck and Eddie were only dating women, it was easier to convince ourselves (yes, I was part of it, though for a shorter time) that things would change once Buck and Eddie realized and accepted their feelings for each other. They're only dating women because they don't think being with their best friend is an option, right? Something's gotta wake them up. (This is where Eddie getting shot was supposed to factor in, and then the hostage situation, and then Buck in a coma...) But now Buck is not straight. (I typically say bi since however the show chooses to define his sexuality is tbd.) And now Buck has a boyfriend. A boyfriend that is not Eddie. If Buck can have a boyfriend that is not Eddie - not a fling, not a four episode arc to "introduce" his awakening - then Bi Buck was never really about Buddie, was it? It was about writing a story that would get Buck off of Tim's interpretation of the hamster wheel - dating women that weren't realistic long-term partners: (via TheWrap) “I was kind of bored with the hamster wheel of the relationships [Buck] had been in. His story needed a slap. It needed some something fresh. This felt like it could be important to some people, and it felt like it was right for the character.” And to add insult to injury, Tommy might be a side character that we only see every few weeks going forward, but he's no news reporter or death doula. He's a firefighter and pilot for the LAFD. He has history with Bobby, and Hen, and Chim. And now Gerrard. Tommy isn't the same old love interest that you wouldn't remember existed if he was MIA. And that's because Tim wanted it that way. He wanted Buck's first relationship with a man to be with a first responder who could seamlessly fit into the plot and serve a purpose outside of being the guy Buck is dating. If Tim made the effort to do that with Buck's (I repeat) first relationship with a man, then why would he immediately tear down what he's built for a relationship that the actors aren't even asking or advocating for right now? (If they ever even were?) Fandom knows that last part, too. But it's easier to attack Lou for "getting in the way" of Buddie than admit the two men they praised for being #BuddieWarriors aren't actually serious about having it play out on screen.

It'll be interesting to see how this progresses
Ooh promo time
Okay okay robberiesss cool cool
Oh hey I was just saying how I missed Josh :D
OOP it's Maddie o.o :O
I mean obviously we know she didn't but STILL
Anyway yeah ayy call center-centered (lol) episodeee
So yeah! That was the last of my final thoughts, now it's time for the. . .
REVIEW
I really enjoyed this episode! It was great. It was a bit calmer than the previous ones lol, but I'm okay with that xD. And I am so glad Buck's not entering somebody's open marriage XD.
Now, some quick individuals!
Maddie: iconic. Girl 😭😭, she went through so much this episode with the reminders of her past, and she still pulled through and really helped Claribelle and her mom :')). I'm so proud of and happy for her <33. Also, seems like she and Chim are looking for a nanny! Chilling :). Oh, and while it was hilarious, I'm glad Chim's okay from being kidnapped by the drunk driver lol xD :D. Anyway, looks like, however, Maddie will continue going through it 😭 xD.
Buck! Even though it would've been a great bi awakening, I am SO GLAD it's not an open marriage situation like we were all thinking it was XD. Thank goodness! Not that there's anything wrong with it, but just. . . yk. Buck xD. And also Buddie lol. I'm not too sure on his decision on the sperm donation, but if he's made it, good for him :)). It'll be a wild ride lol.
Eddie and Chris! I love their little parenting moments/plots :DD. I feel like this was a really important step in their relationship, an important thing to say about parenting, and a really great example of Eddie being a cycle-breaker :)). Good for him <333. And, I'm go glad they worked things out. Yeah, in short, I love them ❤️❤️❤️❤️.
BATHENA. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰. That is all.
Oh and also DOG :DDDD 🐕. I will love Hoover with my entire life <333
(Lol they were adorable and amazing as always. And it looks like Athena will be involved in the drama next week! Fun fun)
Hen! I'm SO HAPPY that she's getting another chance :D. I don't want her to leave, obviously :(, but girl was so stressed out of her mind, and now she's losing it XD. But instead of from too much to do, it's by going stir-crazy from too LITTLE to do xD. Ahh, anyway, I love her, and those little moments with Buck were cut :)).
Also, not just related to Hen, I will never get over that kitchen/dining room scene at the station with them all XDD. Amazing, lol. Top tier cinema XDD.
Overall, I loved this episode! It was a little bit slower, a nice change of pace, not that I didn't like what we've had so far. It's just nice to switch it up a bit :). Anyway, I really enjoyed it, everyone's individual parts were great, the calls were super good, and it was honestly just really nice to see my children again :). I needed to relax and they offered the perfect opportunity. Also, a fun theme with the slight touch on parenting all around! Heavier in some storylines than others, but nice :). But yeah! Amazing episode :D.
This was a great episode! It was good all around and had some really enjoyable moments. I'm excited to see what the next one has in store. This has been my review of. . .
