FIC REC FRIDAY

hiiii! I’m starting a new tradition, somewhat inspired by @fellshish ‘s really wonderful fanfic fridays, as well as all the incredible fic I’ve been reading lately and wanted to share!

Every Friday I’m going to share a fic I’ve read and really liked, along with a little summary and a bit of my thoughts on it (nothing spoiler-y I swear). Anyone else can feel free and encouraged to jump on with a reblog of one of their faves, something they’ve been reading, etc. (and self promo is ABSOLUTELY encouraged <333)

This week I’m starting out with Of Trees & Telepathy (Kirk/Spock 51k E) by @lemonemenom

Jim and Spock are sent on a diplomatic mission on a planet of telepathic aliens. They soon get dragged into the political machinations of the local government, though the conflict might not be so local after all…

There’s really really cool worldbuilding, wonderful spirk moments, incredible intrigue and tension building, really awesome ocs, just SO much cool stuff. This fic has so much of the alien cultural exploration that I love in Star Trek, and it’s super engaging. I read the entire thing in 1 night and I COULD NOT put it down. The mystery at the center of the story had me on the edge of my seat, and so many of the writing and style choices play into it so well!! The prose/writing are also just really really well done. I can’t stress enough how much y’all should go read this.

alright alright, this’ll be fun and a long, long list. first off:

star wars characters

@tintinwrites- the best poe fics. i love everything of caitlin’s i’ve ever read. i have a terrible attention span for long series sometimes but hers are so easy to get into and just never stop reading??

@starryeyedstories- amazing poe and cassian fics. the fluff always makes my heart soarrrrr. such a natural at fluffy goodness.

@poeticandors- also really really nice poe and cassian fics!! (also writes for other characters but those are just the ones i’ve read) v good! i remember ‘didn’t mean it’ in particular? it breaks your heart and then puts it right back together

@beskars- hooo boy. one of the very few obi wan writers and woooow. *chefs kiss* love me some of elisha’s obi. but we all already be knowin elisha’s writing is quality.

@no-droids *screams* their din, cassian, and obi-wan are all EXCEPTIONAL i try not to put a lot of gratuitous smut on my blog so that’s why i haven’t commented on every single thing but like... this is THE STUFF. right here. sucks you right in.

@acomplicatedprofession- so, yes, lari IS a p*dro character writer, really. B U T. her cassian fic is one of the best fics my eyes have consumed. it’s cute and saucy and i’m in looove with it.

@rzrcrst- i’ve read a lot of kenzie’s one shots (mostly binged- need to go back and leave lots of juicy comments because i didn’t before like a terrible human) and they’re just chef’s kisses everywhereee. but her crowning jewel, sanctuary, is on my reading list and i can’t wait to read it.

@mandadoration- i made it through all her whiskey fics when i was on a whiskey kick a bit ago and hooooooo. i could read ‘you’re a fine girl’ 100 times and never get sick of it. looking forward to binging all the delicious mando content as well soon!

@longitud-de-onda- camila is just a gorgerous gem PERIOD. but her writing is so gorgeous and riveting. they’re all such wonderful studies of character and personality and what makes people tick.

@hopelikethesun- now... i do not search out javi fics generally. i love me some javi but eh he’s just not generally my first choice of fic for some reason. but mtmf is one of the few exceptions. it’s beautiful, it really is. 

@spacegayofficial - the headcanons are so fabulous, for one. but the first thing i think about with tori is their max phillips fics? they’re so good. one of the only people i’ve seen write max (and be AMAZING at it btw. that one fic... yanno that one... like i said before, i try to not reblog gratuitous smut to my blog so i need you to know now: that fic awakened something kind of terrifying in me.)

@madadlorian- i walked into a gilded lie a max lord hater and will i still probs hate canon lord? yeah. but am i in unashamed love with amber’s version? 100% (also really love ‘if you don’t love me now’ btw. i’ve read it multiple times)

@lesqui- les writes right from the soul. it’s all just beautiful and poetic. ‘m in love with les AND les’s writing.

@catfishingmorales- THE RANGER!VERSE. that’s all i can say. the ranger!verse is one of the best, most wholesome things on this godforsaken site. casualties made me feel things. i could read it another 50 times easily.

@hdlynnslibrary- jUST POSTED A NEW FIC AND I’M EXCITED. her writing is as sweet and lovely as she is. 

@secretpajamas wrote MARCUS PIKE smut like a BOSS. one of the few times i allowed gratuitous smut to be reblogged onto my blog. AHHHHHH. i’ve read it three times.

@keeper0fthestars- lovely lovely lovely person who writes an even lovelier frankie. SO SO good and real and perfect.

@marcusplke- my kindred spirit in writing for good ol’ pike. *squee* so nice. it broke me and i loved it

@softpedropascal- pragma is one of the series i’m reading that i’m most excited to see updates for. it’s gorgeous. so gorgeous. so complex and emotional. and NAILS frankie’s character.

@qveenbvtch i’ve read their shorter works/headcanon posts and WHEW BOY W H E W. it’s all so incredibly well written. exceptional. realllllyyyy excited to read funtimes in babylon soon. i’ve had my eye on it a while.

Hello!!! I am sorry I took so long to answer this, but I came to deliver the goods. alfkajfalk Hopefully, these are to your liking since we have similar tastes like you mentioned. Also I’m really glad you’re enjoying the posts!!! I love criticizing his character. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I will only recommend fics that are T rated and under just because I don’t...feel comfortable sharing M rated fics. I have minors following me and I don’t want to share those things...(dm me if you want recs like that, but they’re adult tododeku, no under age stuff). 

A Plague On Both Your Houses by laquearia (honestly, anything by laq is really good)

sore must be the storm by Pouler (poulerslashes) (THIS ONE IS REALLY GOOD. Pro Hero tododeku and it’s oof suspenseful. Get ready. 10k words of good shit. Pouler also has more pro hero tododeku and a crumb of me actually is probably the fic that inspired Walk the Wire the most even though I read it after I started writing the fic and outlining the story. It’s rated M, though.)

Burn and Breathe by PitViperOfDoom (anything by @pitviperofdoom is REALLY good, so I recommend anything by Pit.)

Witness by PitViperOfDoom (this is not tododeku, it is like...friendship between them, but also Shouto is Izuku’s bodyguard. Regardless of no romantic relationship between the two, this is perhaps my favorite fic because it has like everything I love....an investigation in which Shouto is being the outstanding hero he is meant to be, Shouto as a pro hero, fights between Shouto and villains, Izuku being a fanboy ajflakfaj it’s one of my inspirations for Walk the Wire!!) 

Oh, Calamity! by All_time_low3st (this is by @protect-baby-shouto. It was the very first bnha fic I read and it was like the gateway fic for me into the fandom, so it made me into the hardcore fan I am today YEAH. It’s ongoing and it’s really good!!! 2nd year sports festival with a lot of drama and also dadzawa to boot? BRUH IT’S REALLY GOOD.)

A Very Merry (Seal|Loyalty)shipping Fanworks Rec

As a reply to a post I reblogged hours ago, I’m gonna make a list of fanfics, fanart, and blogs that have great Sealshipping, Prideshipping, and Scandalshipping content. I’ll start with Sealshipping because, sadly, it’s one of the least popular pairings in the YGO fandom and there’s not much stuff about it.

If You Need to Crash and Burn by KhemRocks - It’s a platonic kind of Sealshipping, that centers around Atem needing and seeking comfort and Mahad being there for him.

Pomegranates and Myrrh by Animom - Written in Priestess Isis’ point of view, it’s an emotionally beautiful oneshot. Plus points on adding some mythology in it.

A Lesson In Responsibility by rowanthestrange_yugihell  - From the words of the author himself: It’s fun, it’s angst, it’s fungst. Hilarious and sad, mostly hilarious. 

Forty Eight in the Shade by  halfthewords (Sierra) -  It’s more Headresshipping-but-not-really-they’re-just-dicks-to-each-other humor. Set is of “I would feed you to the crocodiles if Atem didn’t like you so much” and Mahad is basically “Same”. Still Sealshipping in that Atem and Mahad are affectionate with each other.  Also, can I just say that most posts about Set and Mahad interacting is absolutely hilarious because it’s basically: Set is a bitch and Mahad becomes an asshole around him.

Eagle Bowl by safa'at keruth - An interesting exploration of how far the butterfly effect can be.

Soul’s Surface by Cymoril Avalon - It’s painful but it’s a good kind of pain because wow the sheer love and determination of these two are so good.

Vox Populi by Ziven - I like how the characters are very human. Atem shows his ignorance on what he knows of the people and Mahad shows a lot more speculation and maturity in many things.

Parabola by My Misguided Fairytale - A modern day AU with a bit of supernatural elements.

This is what happens when you follow too many blogs, you can’t pinpoint any of the ones that have specific things you’re looking for. I know I followed some RP blogs that had Sealshipping/Loyaltyshipping stuff but I can’t find them. TwT 

I know YGO blogs in general, but looking for specific content is ehh... I like a lot of YGO things ok?

It’s sad that this is not a popular ship, but oh well gotta make do. There are a lot more fanfics about this pairing (not as much as other ships though) but those were the ones I liked the most.
