"What, pissed you didn't think of it first?" The joke comes out in a voice she was too familiar with, winded and slightly garbled by blood but talking was a good sign at least, right? A wheezy little laugh follows, only cut off by the sudden dizziness spell that has her grasping his wrists to steady herself. Honestly, his grip on her was probably the only thing keeping her upright, legs wobbly underneath.

Fuck, was it stupid. She knew it was stupid even as she'd been doing it, but those precious seconds of her playing bait gave the others the time they needed and well... the look on those gangsters' faces when she charged headfirst at them was quite funny! She just wished it didn't hurt so much, despite being unable to remember when (and where) exactly she got hit. There was an explosion... and then Ayin was pulling her up and she had to, had to get that dumb quip out otherwise the look on his face would tear her apart and there'd be nothing left to scold. She closed her eyes instead, a childish attempt at hiding from his shock and concern... and well, it helped with the throbbing.

The bright side is at least she could still hear him, even with the FAC soldiers moving in and fending off the stragglers. Good, that was good. She'd had enough head trauma to last her entire measly life and she didn't have the focus to read his lips right now.

"Are your hands this warm or am I burning up?" It slips out as he's mid-sentence and grants the words pause which she takes as her cue to worm her way out of his hold... and fall back onto a slab of debris that was as good a spot as any to pass out in.

"Be mad later, okay? I'm so tired."
