Why Fjord Du Saguenay in Quebec is an Underrated Gem
Daily writing promptDo you have a favorite place you have visited? Where is it?View all responses I typically don’t share my personal experiences, but I felt compelled to write about an exceptionally magical place I visited in September 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Perhaps it was due to the prolonged layoff caused by the pandemic, which severely impacted the hospitality industry. I…

[ID: Two photos of digitally illustrated bumper stickers. The first is of the stickers on a brown car, and the second is of the three designs arranged vertically. One sticker is rainbow with a calico cat and reads "I AM GOING TO CAUSE PROBLEMS ON PURPOSE". One is black and yellow with an opossum in the middle, and reads "CAUTION: I WILL BRAKE FOR CRITTERS". One is pale blue patterned with a rainbow trout and reads "FISH WANT ME". End.]
Printed some bumper stickers I've been dreaming about for a while 👀 planning a shop update soon but in the meantime, here's some weird new animals on my car !!

Tumblr media
The work began at Harenhall, Lords and Levies alike took tools in hand to help make the castle ready to host the armies of Queen Rhaenyra. Preparing the old ruins to house the Riverlords, the armies, and the thousands of men that would wait here for the queen's word.
Even Daemon was chopping wood for supports and beams of the once grand Hall.
Jaerra had been given the task of weaving rope, she found the task a little insulting being told by the lords to sit in the corner and weave while the men around her, chopped wood, broke rocks and stacked bricks but it meant she got to sit in a quiet windowsill winding cordage and braiding it into rope for … whatever tasks they needed it for.
Luckily she wasn’t alone, Oscar Tully had to been given the task to work on the rope, too too felt mildly insulted over it, given he was the youngest man in the castle he felt like kicking the man who told him. That he felt so large he could tell the Lord Paramount of the Riverlands to go and sit with a woman and weave. But Oscar didn’t argue and just wanted to help in whatever way he could, imagining he wouldn’t be overly grand at wood chopping, rock breaking or bricklaying anyway. And of course… he got to sit in a nice little corner with Jaerra and weave rope by her side.
Oscar did his best not to stare and not to plush at her but found himself far behind her in terms of making rope due to always having his eyes on her.
He sighed wistfully as he looked up once more, seeing her today wearing a simple gown of a deep red slightly bronze colour, her Targaryen blonde hair loose around her, with her one dark brown streak beside her face at times she blew on the streak whenever it fell into her eyes as she worked. He couldn’t hold back his smile, imagining her for a moment…
Sitting in the Solar of Riverrun, with the redwood walls surrounding her, the large arch of blue watery strained glass behind her as an orange sunset fades, her body leant against the craved lapping trout bedposts of the canopy bed of the lord of the Riverlands, the firelight cascading over her, wearing a mud red gown, her hair braided and beautiful but still her dark brown strand being blown from her face, a swollen belly ripe for a baby to be born, as she embroiders a silver dragon below the watery black waves, the fire crackling the only sound other than his own rapidly beating heart.
And he could stay in such a thought forever. Oh, how he wished to.
“The rope shall not weave itself my Lord Tully,” She smiled teasingly as she caught him looking,
“Oh! Yes- Of course,” Oscar jumped back into the moment, “Forgive me my lady my mind was… elsewhere,”
“Nothing to forgive, and I’ve told you before you do not need to call me a lady,”
“I know, I just… feel rude is all,”
“I would prefer it honestly,”
“... as would I,” He smiled, “I would prefer us to be plain with one another…Jaerra”
“I hope so too Oscar,” She smiled back as she worked,
He got back to his work for a while before he felt compelled to speak, “Jaerra?”
“Yes, Oscar?”
“Forgive me, but. May I ask something… that may seem personal?”
“You may,” she nodded, “I also may punch you so the choice is yours,”
He chuckled, but soon settled seriously, “It’s uhh- it’s about your hair?”
“Yes?” She raised an eyebrow at him,
“Do you mind me saying it's… unusual?” He asked, “But still very beautiful!” He jumped in to correct himself not wishing to offend her,
“It’s unusual yes.” She agreed,
“May I ask, Why?” He asked, “Targaryen’s usual have the -”
“All over blonde, I know,” she nodded,
“But you don’t?”
“I don’t,” she nodded, “I used to,”
“You did?”
“I did,” she sighed,
“And this dark brown streak just… grew over time?” He asked his hand absentmindedly moving to the dark streak of her hair putting it neatly behind her ear,
“Sort of,” she answered, “I- I pulled my hair out when I was young,”
“You- pulled your hair out?” He asked, “On purpose?”
“Yes, strangely.” she nodded with a slight scoff, “When I was little, people said my hair was perfect, that it glimmered in the sunlight like a dornish diamond, my ‘Beautiful long Targaryen blonde hair’, never once was I allowed to braid, brush or wash it myself, and I all were forbidden from cutting it. Maids would sit with me for hours just doing my hair, braiding this endless rope of hair behind my head,”
“Wasn’t that heavy?”
“Very.” She nodded, “but… I was so angry, such a sad, angry little girl. And when I was angry I would go to my chambers and I would pull my hair so hard that I would rip it from my head and burn it in my fireplace. It started small at first a few hairs, never to be missed. But… I kept doing it, and doing it,” she explained, “until my ‘beautiful long Targaryen blonde hair’ was patchy, broken, mismatched lengths, and the only thing to be done was to cut it all off.”
“Cut off? How short?”
“To the root, too short to pull out.”
“I- I bet you were still beautiful,” He cooed,
“No one told me so, all anyone said about was how nice I would look when it grew back. So… the moment a single strand got long enough I would rip it out, ripping and ripping over and over.”
“Didn’t it hurt?”
“It did, but… I didn’t care.” she said, “All I saw on my head was a sigil, I was a Targaryen and everyone knew it before they even knew who I was, and I hated it so much that I didn’t care how much it hurt.”
He softly nodded, “But when did it, turn brown?”
“Years later,” she answered, “One day I noticed it, just a few hairs. Dark brown. And I loved them so utterly,” She cooed winding her fingers around her streak, “They felt… like me, and I let them grow and grow wanting my whole head to turn this dark brown, it stopped with just this but I love it.”
“Not Targaryen, Just you,” He smiled,
“Just me,” she nodded, “Daemon hated it, I imagine he still does. But It makes me feel like me,”
Oscar nodded, “I like it too,”
“Thank you,” She smiled,
“I- I assume the brown, comes from your mother?”
She nodded, “I think so,”
“How does she feel about it?”
“I don’t know,” She said sadly, “I hope she’d like it, but she never got to see it,”
“Oh-” he gasped, “Forgive me Jaerra,”
“It’s alright,” she reassured him,
“What happened to her?” He asked gently,
“I did,” She answered, “She died, in the birthing bed.” Sadness flooded her voice,
Oscar felt a chill go down his spine, but he felt compelled to speak, “I- I lost my mother that way to,” He answered,
The two shared a look, a thousand words of understanding passed through them without a movement of their lips,
“Can I ask-”
“I don’t really know,” She said, “Few would speak of it,”
“I don’t mean to-”
“I know, it’s okay,” She softly smiled,
“Who was she?”
“Rhea, Lady of House Royce,”
“House Royce? Of Runstone?”
“The very same,”
“I have heard tales of her,”
“Many have,” she nodded, “He married my mother, becuase his grandmother Queen Alysanne demanded him to. But he hated her, and she hated him,”
“A very happy marriage then,” he joked,
“Very much,” she laughed, “Daemon avoided her and the Vale as much as he could, never even consummating their marriage… until. His brother then King Viserys demanded him to. Daemon arrived to Runstone on Caraxes too drunk to barely stand, he crawled beside her and took her. They said her screams echoed through the mountains. And she got pregnant with me,” she explained, “Daemon didn’t care he ran off god knows where, and left her alone. She sent ravens and messengers but Daemon never came. She went into labour one cold night or so they say, and I was born. A little Targaryen blonde babe. Everyone says it began to rain the moment I was born.”
Oscar softly smiled at that,
“And she held me… looked into my little eyes and she bled to death.” She explained, “The wounds too great she… passed, with me still in her arms, the maids told me once, she … was begging just to hold me one more moment, she told the Maester my name and then… she was gone,” She sniffled back a tear,
“I- I’m so sorry Jaerra,”
“It’s alright,” She nodded forcing back her sadness,
“They say that about me too?”
“What?” She asked,
“That it rained, it began to rain the moment I was born they say.” He nodded,
“What happened?” She asked gently,
“My father… adored my mother, He was Heir to Riverrun, the future Lord Tully, and she… a sweet smallwood girl, the future lady of Acorn hall. He would have moved the trident for her” He chuckled, “made her his wife when they were young and in love, of course… she was pregnant not long after. With Twins” He explained, “But… she was a small woman, thin and delicate. Birth just… ripped her apart, I came first and my father named me Oscar of House Tully. And before he was even born he named my brother, Kermit. but… they say she begged him, her hands bloody begging not to do it, saying she couldn’t do it, I had already broken her body beyond repair and she begged and cried for hours but she did it. She brought Kermit into the world, but… she was dead by the time my father held him in his arms.”
She nodded, “And your brother?”
“Dead. A day later. They say it was a miracle I survived.”
“I’m so sorry Oscar,” she said resting her hand softly on his,
He let a small smile crack across his lips, slowly intertwining his fingers with hers and rubbing his thumb softly against her skin,
“What was her name?”
“...Annie. Annie Smallwood,”
“I’m sorry you lost her,”
“I’m sorry too,” He nodded, “if it helps, I’m here and I promise I’m not going anywhere Jaerra.”
“Me either Oscar,” She smiled squeezing his hand a little, “Now come on let's finish this rope before they come to yell at us,”
“Right,” he nodded and chuckled softly, but as he looked to their rope he blushed, “Oohh uhhh we uhhh-”
“Oh!” She giggled softly,
The rope Jaerra had been braiding and the rope Oscar had been braiding had somehow gotten braided together forming one rope together,
“Well, guess we need to start over,” She chuckled,

𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝑜𝑓 𝑅𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑟𝑢𝑛
𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒐: "Family, Duty, Honor" 𝑺𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒍: A leaping trout, silver, over a wavy white-blue-white fess on per fess mud red and blue. 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒔: Tend to have fair skin and blue eyes, including deep blue. Tullys have had auburn (red-brown), red, and brown hair.
House Tully is one of the Great Houses of Westeros. Their lands are the central part of the continent. Their seat is Riverrun, a castle at the confluence of the Red Fork of the Trident with the Tumblestone. They rule over the Riverlands from the castle and the head of the house is the Lord of Riverrun.
House Tully rose to prominence during Aegon's Conquest. Lord Edmyn Tully rebelled against the King of the Iron Islands, Harren the Black, to support the invading House Targaryen.
Edmyn's fellow Riverlords followed his lead. When Aegon Targaryen established his rule from the Iron Throne he rewarded Edmyn, elevating the Tullys to Lords Paramount of the Trident.
House Tully fought on the side of the Iron Throne during the War of the Ninepenny Kings. Hoster Tully and Brynden Tully fought during the conflict.
The two brothers later parted on acrimonious terms after Brynden rejected his older brother's command that he marry Bethany Redwyne in order to seal a marriage pact with House Redwyne.
Brynden broke ties with Hoster, earning the name "Blackfish", which also became his personal sigil. Hoster later married Lady Minisa of House Whent and they produced three children: two daughters Catelyn, Lysa, and a son named Edmure.

— Olive Garden Gift Card
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌌 — synopsis. You meet your dad.
🌌 — warnings. This is basically a self-fucking-insert. You have a sister and good grandparents but youre stepdad left! Fix-It!Rossi. Don’t read this if you don’t have daddy issues.
     The sun had just dipped over the tall building when you entered the FBI building. You knew going in here was a gamble. Why would a big shot FBI boss believe an almost 22 year old woman claiming that he’s her daughter?
     No matter, you told yourself as you wittily convinced the security officer to let you in the building. Your mother was dead now and you wanted to at least let him know you existed. Even if he did already know, you wanted to tell him of your mother’s death. The dark blue folder with paint stained in the back (courtesy of your little sister) stopped shaking after taking a calming breath in the elevator.
     You had memorized the layout of the room memorized after weeks of planning what you would say and how you would say it, so actually entering the room made your heart beat a little faster. To think you were actually going to see your biological father- your dad- made you mad and a little nervous.
     Supervisory Special Agent Aaron Hotchner looked up at the figure at the door. Her face was solemn, but the way her eyebrows were set made Hotch think she was nervous. She had a familiar frown. The girl wore a pair of dark jeans with brown square-toed boots. The Carhartt shirt she wore was black. “Hello. SSA Hotchner. What can I do for you?” He asked, sticking his hand out.
     “I was asked to give this to you,” you said after shaking your dad’s hand. You tried to keep your voice calm. You couldn’t believe you were actually standing in front of your father. From a young age you knew you were different. All the other boys and girls weren’t in their mom’s wedding as the flower girl or ring bearer. All the other boys and girls didn’t call their male parent by their first name. All the other boys and girls had the same last name as everyone in the house. Except you.
     Aaron looked at the tightly-written cursive on the back of the envelope and felt a pang of familiarity in his heart. “I- I’m sorry, who are you?”
     After saying your last name- your mother’s last name- you saw it.
     “I’ll read fast.” You watched your father’s eyes dart over the front page. Your mother’s handwriting took up most of the back as well, but you were ready for Aaron to usher you out of his office and apologize for your loss so you stayed rigid in your seat. The cold leather of the chair did nothing to soothe you. Aaron’s cologne made you want to heave. What would he say?
     Another minute passed before Aaron placed the letter in his desk and took out photos from the envelope. You didn’t know what your mother wrote, but you read the captions and years on the back and your eyes filled with unshed tears as you relived those memories.
     After examining the photos with an unreadable expression, Aaron looked up at you. “I didn’t realize your mother was pregnant when she left,” he murmured, glancing down at the photo of you at age six with a pink hat and camo jacket on your mother’s shoulders. In your hands you held a small trout. In your mother’s hands was a larger trout. You were so proud because that was the first fish you had ever caught.
     You nodded. “She told me everything.” You tried to keep yourself neutral until Hotch told you to get out.
     “Y/n,” he said slowly, examining you closely. You had your mother’s flat nose, hooded eyes, and plump lips. You had Aaron’s high cheekbones, sharp jawline, and serious eyebrows. Aaron knew you were a spitfire- a dangerous combination of him and your mother. “What do you want to do? What do you want me to do?” His tone was quiet and you knew you had done it. He didn’t care. Not about you or your dead mother or the little sister that you cared so deeply for. Well, fine.
     That caught you off guard. “I don’t care. I just wanted to come tell you that you have two other kids and that my mother was dead.” You felt your throat tighten at the mention of your little sister. Your grandparents were currently watching her since your stepfather had divorced your mother and wanted nothing to do with either of you. “So I did that. I, uh…” your jaw clenched and you looked at the framed picture of the happy family of three: consisting of Aaron Hotchner, his wife, and son. You didn’t want to cry in front of a man you didn’t even know, so you swallowed and set your eyes to him. “I’ll leave you to your life.”
     You tried to ignore the way your bottom lip trembled and how a single tear slipped down your cheek as you closed the door to his office rather loudly. You tilted your head up and your shoulders kept solid as you walked past your dad’s office, your dad’s team, and your dad. This time you were the one doing the walking away.
— 🌌
     You had promised your sister to pick up a present for her. Despite the pretty big age gap between the two of you, you and Ava go along well. You had planned to stay for a couple days in Virginia, so you had time to thrift for gifts for your loving grandparents (read: mother’s mom and dad) and sister.
     Right now, though, you were strolling through a small book store on a darker lit area of the town. Sure, you knew you probably stuck out like a sore thumb with your appearance, but you had always harbored a love to read. You were just pulling out a Sylvia Plath to add to the growing pile of Vonnegut and Wiesel book on your arm. You counted those books and decided another one wouldn’t hurt.
     “Already read you,” you murmured, walking slowly past an aisle of titles.
     “Do you want me to carry those for you?”
     You turned around, remembering the stainless steel knife your stepdad had gifted you long ago in your front jeans pocket. In front of you was an older gentleman in an expensive suit. The lines across his face told you he was older, wiser. “Uh… no. Thank you though.”
     He nodded and stuck his hand out for you to shake. “My name is David. David Rossi.”
     This David Rossi fellow worked with Aaron, you recalled. You had done your research. “I see. Did Hotchner send you?”
     Rossi shook his head and followed you. “No. I came here on my own accord. You left in a hurry,” he said. You made your way to the fictional section- you were a sucker for some fictional romance.
     “I don’t think he wanted me there. He has a life and so do I. I just… my mother wanted me to give him that letter and I… just wanted to meet dear old dad,” you replied dryly. You didn’t regret seeing him- you had planned for the scenario that he didn’t want you. Hell, you had already lived with not knowing your dad and thinking about him for your whole life. This just gave you a reason to never think about him again. “Why are you even here?”
     “I wanted to talk to you,” he answered immediately. “Try to convince you to stay for a couple more days. I think you’re isolating yourself from your dad because you’ve been let down by other men before. I think you’re trying to protect yourself from what you want. I know that you wouldn’t have stuck around if you didn’t at least have a little hope for talking to your dad again.”
     “Please don’t call him that,” you requested tensely. You didn’t like that word. Dad. It made you shudder as you reached out to examine a book by Margaret Atwood. “But you’re right. I am scared. I have- I have other priorities. People need me and I need her. We’re all we have and I’m not about to waste my life away trying to prove to some man that I- his blood- an worth his while. I’m tired of that, sir. But thanks for trying.”
     You picked up the book and moved to the register. Rossi followed you, watching as you paid the price with cash. “Receipt in the bag please,” you said with a bright smile. “Thank you, Joe.”
     “You’re more than welcome,” the man replied smoothly, returning your smile. You didn’t acknowledge the man known as David Rossi as you unlocked your rent truck.
     “Please just come talk to him again. He wants to talk to you, I can tell. He just needs to talk to his wife and son,” Rossi tried again.
     Shaking your head, you scoffed. “‘Wife and son’? No. No, I’m good.”
    “Before you leave. If not for him, sit down and eat lunch with me and the rest of the team. You’re an intriguing individual.”
     You buckled your seat belt and leaned back in your seat. “No. I’m not.”
     Before you had shut the door and left, you heard Rossi yell “You know the building!”
— 🌌
     Much to your own dismay, you did end up showing up to the building two days later. In your hand was an Olive Garden gift card you’d been saving for a special occasion. Hopefully David liked Italian.
     But you also tried to hide the little flicker of hope that burned in your chest. ‘He wants to talk to you, I can tell’ is what David had told you.
     Your phone rang, though, as soon as you had entered the building. The security man recognized you immediately and handed you a guest badge as you accepted the call from your Grandmother. “Hi Gramma,” you greeted brightly, genuinely happy to hear from the woman.
     “Hi puddin’ pie! Ava wants to talk to you since we missed your call last night,” the woman explained.
     “Put her on,” you said, pulling your jeans up by the belt loop and tucking in your pocket as the phone crackled. You were wearing a light washed pair of jeans, the ones your mother was so proud of when she bought and guessed your size. Jean shopping was always difficult, but your mother always seemed to get you the perfect pair.
     “Hi y/n! How’s Virginia? Did you get me anything?” Ava asked.
     Pushing the button to the BAU’s floor, you laughed. “No? I didn’t know you wanted anything you crazy girl. Too late now, I’m on my way home now.”
     You heard Ava groan loudly and your grandma’s laugh from the other line. You smiled, happy to call them your family. “Y/n! I told you what-“
     “I’m just teasing, kiddo. It’s a surprise though. I’ve got a couple more days here until you can see it,” you explained, waiting for the door to open.
     “Well… is it cool? Like a tank or a grenade or- or a really big skull?” Ava asked.
     You stepped out of the elevator and stood to the side, not wanting to end the call. “I told you, Ave, it’s a surprise. I can’t tell you otherwise I’ll die.”
     Ava’s laughter filled the line and your heart ached for the little girl. She had gone through so much. So had you, but she was more important.
     You scratched your head and your smile faded after seeing the corner of his lips lift. He was standing in the middle of the bullpen, listening to his agent’s conversation. He tilted his head towards his office. You raised an eyebrow and he just nodded before excusing himself to wait for you.
     Pocketing the gift card, you kept your head solid and your back straight as you walked in. “Well, I gotta go, Ava-Girl. Give Papa some hell and keep the cows clean, yeah?”
     “Okay. You’ll call tonight, right? Papa said he wanted to call, but is busy fixing Mr. O’Donnel’s wiring.”
     “Yeah, yeah I’ll call, Ave. Be good for Gramma okay? Give her a hug for me. Love you, kiddo,” you said quietly as you quickly walked past Aaron’s open door.
     “I love you too, y/n. Have fun and be safe,” Ava replied before hanging up.
     Rossi smiled at you. “Good evening,” he greeted. You resisted the urge to laugh at the smugness of his smile. “We’re almost off. Are you going to talk to your da- Hotch?”
     “If he wants to,” you replied. “I have a gift card for Olive Garden. Is that offer for-“
     “Yes. Do you want the whole team to come with? They might ask a lot of questions but they all mean well,” Rossi asked.
     “I mean, I’m a complete stranger to you all so it’s up to them. I’ll pay,” you answered, feeling your billfold in your back pocket.
     “Nonsense. Do you… do you want to talk to Hotch first? We can go and reserve a table,” Rossi offered. You wondered how you were going from avoiding the whole lot of people all together to going to dinner with them.
     You nodded slowly. “Yeah. That would probably be best. Thank you, Rossi.”
     “Just David, kid, and don’t worry about it,” he said, laying a hand on your shoulder before heading out to get the team.
     This time, you entered Aaron’s office without knocking. “David and the team are meeting us at Olive Garden. Are you- do you want to come?”
     Hotch stood up, arms hanging awkwardly at his side. “Do you want me there?”
    “I wouldn’t be asking if I didn’t… I also thought we should, uh, talk. Or you talk and I listen. You know what I have to say.”
     Aaron nodded, still rigid. “I don’t- I liked your mother, y/n. I did. We just had different plans for our future. I wasn’t in love with her, but she was a good soul, a good mother. I didn’t know she was… with child when we parted ways,” he explained cautiously, examining you for your reaction.
     “Do you love your wife? And son?” You asked, voice oddly calm.
     Aaron nodded. “I do. I do but I want to be in your life. You said you had a little sister?”
     “Yes but I don’t want you to feel like you have to just because you hooked up with my ma. I want you to want to know us.”
     Aaron nodded. “I do. I really do, y/n. Just give me a chance and some time. I talked to Haley and Jack and they… well, they’d like to meet you.”
     Swallowing, you nodded. “Okay. Okay, well. We can start with dinner.”
     “Dinner,” Hotch repeated, arm twitching as he nodded.
     An solemn silence filled the air as you gnawed at your lips. The rigid, wide-eyed man in front of you did want to know you. You felt your eyes sting knowing that this would either heal you or break you. But you wanted to try. For you, your mother, and your sister.
     “Come here, y/n,” Aaron murmured, bottom lip shaking ever so slightly as he opened his arms.
     It was embarrassing how hard you collided into your dad’s arms. You probably would have even laughed if you weren’t so overwhelmed with actually hugging him.
     Aaron closed his eyes as tears fell down his own face. He really really really hoped he didn’t screw this up.
     You finally pulled away and sniffed, knowing you probably looked like a mess. “So you are going to Olive Garden with us?”
     A watery laugh bubbled out of Aaron throat as he hugged you even tighter. “I’d love to get Olive Garden with you.”

Coming Home
Hello Lovelies! Thank y'all so much for the support and love the past day! I have decided to write a little quick Folio Fic! Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
18+ warning
CW: [implied unprotected p in v but no descriptive details, drinking, fluffy fluff, smooching, longing]
It started like any other day when Folio was home, a quick morning text letting you know he was finally home after a long touring schedule. Not only was Nick your best friend, but you lived in the same rural neighborhood. You spent your summer days riding bikes throughout the twists and turns of neighboring streets. You spent the evenings watching Folio play drums in local bands in concrete basements, ears ringing for days afterwards. Winters were spent surrounding bonfires, wrapped in blankets and reliving old times together.
One by one each friend left your hometown but Folio stayed, except when it came to touring, recording, and anything else Bad Omens. So when the opportunity came to spend time with him, you always jumped on it.
And what did he want to do? Go fish...
Equipped with fishing poles, his dad's truck, and a cooler full of Natty Boh's, Folio arrived bright and early like he said he would.
The river was a short drive from your neighborhood. You sat in the passenger seat while Folio took all the familiar turns. At the end of a long road, that had since turned into dirt from asphalt, Folio pulled to the side. The sound of the parking break indicated it was time to gear up. You opened the familiar creaking door, moving to the now open truck bed. You reluctantly accepted the wader pants, earning a small chuckle from Folio's lips.
"The last time you complained about the leeches for hours, y/n," Folio said looking down at the pants then into your eyes.
You practically melted at his chocolate brown eyes, nodding your head as you begun pulling the waders over your leggings.
Once geared up you both trekked through the woods on a barely-there path, but you both knew exactly where you were going. At the rivers edge, you cracked open a beer, prepared your fishing poles, and waded out into the flowing river.
"I reckon I'll catch the biggest fish this time," You teased as you both cast out your lures. Folio chose a simple blue spinner lure, while you opted for a rainbow jerkbait.
Hours passed by as you both cast out lines, reeled in, and repeated. A few small bluefish made their ways onto your hooks, nothing noteworthy. The trout Folio caught was small and did not meet regulation to keep.
Despite the lack of fish, you both had fun. You earned a few splashes from Folio when you cast your line too close to his, he didn't want you to steal his prize fish. You splashed him when his back turned to you, earning a scold from him that you 'scared the fish away' when his line came up empty once again.
After another hour or so more, you both waded your way to shore to sit on the bank and drink a few beers. The sun had begun to set casting deep shadows from the trees. You both sat silently, enjoying each other's company. Every so often you caught Folio's eyes light up when looking at you, earning a shy smile and blush as he quickly looked away. It all just felt right. You loved his goofy smile, the way his face was so expressive even in simple moments like this.
When dusk settled, you both packed up your gear walking back to the truck. In the cover of the trees it was almost impossible not to trip over fallen branches and tree roots. When you made it back to the truck it took all but a few minutes to wiggle out of the waders. Although, Folio caught you when you tripped taking your left foot out. You caught his gaze, mere inches from his beautiful face. His eyes now as dark as the night creeping its way in. His nose ring catching the last light that was left behind.
Then his lips crashed into yours, it was slow but hungry. It started as just lips, and then teeth, and then tongue. The kiss grew urgent, hungry. Your body electrified, it had been so long since you imagined what it would be like to be Folio's. You gave up on that idea long ago when Folio wanted to pursue his dreams.
One shirt came off, then another, one bra, then pants were on the ground. You both had made your way into the backseat of the truck driven by a string you both knew was there. Folio took his time, sneaking glances into your eyes to make sure every move he made was ok, was right.
Fingers snaked under the bands of underwear, both cast aside somewhere in the front seat of the truck. The windows had begun to fog from the pure ecstasy of two friends exploring the deepest parts of themselves for the first time.
The silent night was filled with breathless moans; small gasps when the right spot was found. Pleasure was building slowly, powerfully running between the two of you. And then it was over as fast as it had started, ending in small screams of the others' names. You both clothed quickly, knowing you had already missed the opportunity to eat a hot dinner around your dining table.
Folio drove home, taking the familiar turns once more before pulling in front of your house. Lights illuminated his eyes, which you caught one more time before opening the door and going home.
If you had looked back, you would have noticed Folio's stare lingered on the back of your head for a moment too long. He wanted to say something, but he knew it wasn't the right time.
He would always come home.

Preservation. Tradition. Perseverance. The mantra of Euna’s family. Her family had once been large— the ones related to her by blood, atleast.
She remembered faint memories of her mother, her grandmother and grandfather and half a dozen cousins, aunts, uncles, laughing around a fire and eating roasted venison. Her mother’s father would tell stories of ghastly white creatures lurking in the mountains and caves, waiting for naughty children to be alone. Euna would cling to her cousin, half crying and screaming and giggling— she couldn’t even remember her cousin’s name anymore.
She couldn’t remember their faces, none of them. When she really focused her mind, their visages were like streaky paintings, a collage of colors faded and damaged and the only thing that stuck were her mother’s blue eyes. Sometimes she would dream and see her family again, but they would all be withered and bones protruding, their eyes a sickly blue glow. Nothing like her mother’s— something dangerous. She usually awoke in a cold sweat and in need of a swim.
Her papa, her father, was the only one left related to her by blood in her tribe. His hair, once deep brown, was now starkened white with age, his beard long and braided. He used a femur bone of an elk mended with a cedar branch as a cane, his left leg lame since the day they lost almost everyone.
The earth had opened and swallowed them whole, shaking with deathly tremors. Their homes collapsed in on them, the ones who hadn’t fell into the crevices in the ground. Euna and her father had been away from camp that day, swimming near the lake miles away. They came back to destruction of everything they knew— and all traces of any of their family had been destroyed by the quake. It was as if they never existed, and their camp was long abandoned. The earth gives, as it takes away.
She was young then, mayhaps too young to even know what happened. Her mind did her a favor by stowing away those memories— they’re too painful to remember.
She swam to quell the pain, ever aching and nipping at her heels. Tightening her seal fur cloak, her bare feet dipped into the water. The transformation was a swift feat for her now, as easy as changing one’s clothes, she slipped into the skin of her seal form, gliding through the water. She felt at home here, as if this was where she was meant to be. She swam past the schools of trout, chomping a few for a quick snack– rainbow trout were her favorite next to salmon and red fish. She was supposed to be on patrol, but patrol meant there was some leader, some sort of organization within their ranks. The Free Folk had no laws, no one to tell them what they should and shouldn’t do and the strongest were the ones that usually prevailed.
They weren’t even meant to be patrolling for crows that day– they could care less about the kneelers beyond the wall, they could do as they liked. Euna’s tribe had been in a few skirmishes with the neighboring free folk that dwelled past the Haunted Woods.
One of the crows screamed about an ambush– as if it was anything like that, they were just walking through, Euna swimming in the stream near the trail. Lifting her head from the water, she smelled the heady scent of the invading tribe. They had been aiming to shoot one of Euna’s companions– and landed on a crow instead.
Euna had held her knife to many throats, crow and free folk alike— but none interested her like this purple eyed fellow. She could feel his presence, smelling of ash and brimstone, underlying with musk and sandalwood. It reminded her of a smell she couldn’t quite place. The warmth that emanated off of him wasn’t normal and she wondered if he had a second layer of fat to keep warm like she did as a seal– upon second inspection, that couldn’t be true. He was a skinny waif of a man.
‘Aemond’. A silly name, with a proper way of speaking and a gemmed eye. Odd man indeed.
She strung him along, “You don’t belong with those crows do you?” she asked, “You’re more fancy, primmed n’ proper.”
He snorted, “I wouldn’t say I’m primmed and proper. But yes, I don’t truly belong to them.”
“Where are you from then?” she asked as they meandered through the snow laden woods, their feet crunching aloft the frost.
“The South.”
“Everything beyond the wall is the south to us, crow. Be more specific.”
“King’s Landing.” he responded, his voice a bit clipped.
Euna shrugged her shoulders, “Never heard of it.”
This elicited something of a laughing snort from the crow, “You don’t know much, do you, wildling?”
“In terms of you kneeler’s way of life, I ‘spose not. I heard that you all think of women lesser and her value is measured by what old lord’s seed she spawned from, and which old lord she is wedded to. Seems all a bit barbaric to me.”
“Hm.” Aemond hummed.
“You don’t talk much? Seems you’re a bit upset you got bested by a wildling savage woman, huh?”
“No. Not so much that you’re a woman or a wildling. I think I’m more ‘upset’ as you say, that I got bested by a pipsqueak. I thought wildlings were supposed to be tall. You’re hardly taller than my child nephew and niece.”
Euna’s brow furrowed, “You aren’t a solid brick, neither, crow. You’ve got a waist like a svelte little ermine,” she giggled, tugging him along further, “Too tall for an ermine, maybe a marten or polecat.”
“Gods– the punishment doesn’t seem to cease, does it? I’ve gotten captured by the mouthiest wildling in the entirety of the North.”
“Haven’t met many, have you? If you think I’m mouthy, you’re in for a surprise once we get to my camp.”
They walked for the better part of a day, Euna prattling on about various things and Aemond being mostly silent– with a few well timed quips and jabs here and there.
The wind picked up, the smell of salt and brine wafting along with the breeze. They neared a valley hugged by two cliffsides, which bordered the sea. It was a bit icy beyond, shards of glaciers floating in crystal clear waters. Below the surface were expanses of kelp forests, wafting against the tide. The valley led through to a village with quite a few buildings– most were small, home-sized, and there was a large one in the center, lit with a few animal bone sconces. Coastal caves were lining the walls of the cliffs, some lit emitting from within them.
The village came alive with people– husbands and wives welcoming home their significant others, children gathering at the feet of the warriors, and oldened parents checking in on their kin. It was all a sign of warmth, of community. Something about it made Aemond feel homesick– almost.
“Ah, Euna!” an older man bellowed. He was tall and broad with a grizzled brown beard, speckled with white, “See you caught yourself a crow, huh? Something to add to your collection of shiny things?” he clapped her on the shoulder with the force that almost sent her toppling.
“Yup– ain’t no regular stinky crow, either. He’s surely one of those fancy lords– he doesn’t speak like other crows. Mine’s got some decorum– and an odd eye like me.”
The man came forward, scratching at his beard. He observed Aemond up and down– he was at least a head taller than the scorned prince. “What’s your name, crow?”
“Aemond.” he answered, his mouth pressed into a thin line.
“Chieftan Cailean,” the broad man responded, “You’d best listen to Euna, since you’re seemin’ apart of her horde now, eh? Small she may be, but you might wake up with your balls sliced off. Ain’t no exaggeration either, seen it happen.”
“All due respect to the small one, but I am no one’s possession.” Aemond responded quickly, his voice dripping with venom. His lip was curled in slight disgust at the insinuation.
Cailean put his hands up, “I ain’t got no jurisdiction over what Euna does with her stockpile, that’s all her. But, when I hear you screamin’ and moanin’ about your lost nads, don’t say that Cailean didn’t warn you.”
Euna huffed, “Mouthy crow, don’t need you spewing stuff at my papa when we get there,” she cut a piece of leather from her tunic and wrapped it around his mouth, to which he looked absolutely livid about, “Too noisy.”
Cailean laughed– a deep, clamoring noise, “You’ve done it now, crow.”
Euna led them to a smaller hut near the shore, pushing in the driftwood door. The aroma of sea air was strong in this particular part of the village, mingling with the smell of burning sage and incense. “Papa?” she murmured, “I’m back.”
“Euna? Dear girl, c’mere,” an old voice called, “I’m at the sea door.”
Walking further into the home, it was quite cozy– a small fire pit was in the center of the main room, filtering out through a hole in the ceiling, as well as some smaller horizontal filters on the siding of the roof. It was decorated with dozens of shells and some of the finest pearls that Aemond’s ever seen– not even anything from Driftmark rivaled the quality of the pearls strung up on the walls of the house. Dried seaweed hung in the windows, which were shrouded by nearly transparent stretched pieces of leather or pelt– likely from some livestock animal, a lamb or goat. Leading on further into the abode, they stopped at the round entrance to some sort of tunnel– Aemond remembered seeing this house pushed to the back of one of the cliff walls.
An older man was standing there– he was balding, his once brown hair receding into a wispy white, his beard tied into a braid with a pearl inlaid cord. His left leg was crippled and twisted at a wrong angle, but the injury didn’t appear to be new– it was old, the skin set taut like forged steel. Against the wall was a gnarled cane, carved from cedar and a femur bone of an elk. There were images carved into the cedar, the red core of the wood eking out against the sullen brown– it was depictions of seals weaving and bobbing through a kelp forest. The man turned towards them both, raising his brow. One of his eyes was a milky white, a jagged scar going down it.
Euna felt Aemond shift slightly as he looked at her father, his eye zeroing in on his scar– the old man stared back with the same intensity. “I caught a crow, papa,” she hummed, breaking the slight tension, “He’s got a fancy eye– or two, ‘spose.”
“You got a name, boy?” her father asked, stepping a bit closer and observing him further. His eyes crinkled at the edges as he grinned, “Ah, been too mouthy, then? Euna’s got you stopped up from talkin’. Should be feeling lucky that it’s just temporary and she ain’t taken your tongue. You can call me Atohi.”
Aemond grunted in response, glaring daggers at Euna, who reached up and took out the leather from his mouth. “Aemond. Your daughter is a little beast.”
“Heard that one many times before, you ain’t the first, nay be the last to tell me I got a creature for a child,” Atohi shrugged his shoulders, “Hungry there, Aemond? Got some fish cakes baking.”
The last thing Aemond wanted to do was to feel like a guest rather than a prisoner, which he was. The friendliness of everyone was unnerving to him– their words didn’t seem to be laced with venom or ulterior motive, as far as he could tell. He wanted to refuse– but his stomach growled, and the last seven moons on gruel at Castle Black made it hard to. He clenched his jaw, “I suppose I could eat.”
“Ah, good man. Seems he’s smarter than other crows– it's rude to refuse food.”
Euna turned to Aemond, cutting through the leather cord binding his hands together, “Let you stretch your wings a bit, you won’t run, will you?”
The scorned prince glared at the wildling woman, his nostrils flaring. He looked at the Catspaw dagger still on her hip– he should grab it and slaughter the both of them and leave– but where would he go? Castle Black was a hell on its own, and he’d likely be marked as craven for returning alive after his brothers had been slain. Lord Commander Fir has had it out for him ever since he arrived, the old bastard likely spinning the tale of the scorned Targaryen prince was a coward and ran away from battle.
Gritting his teeth, he nodded, “What sort of fish is in the cakes?”
Atohi clapped Aemond on the back, leading him towards the larger room once more, “That’d be some red fish, you ever have red fish, son?” he poked at the ashes in the fireplace, turning his cane and hooking a stone grate, revealing the fishcakes within. They were being baked below the surface of the fire in a subterranean oven.
Aemond shook his head, glancing around. Euna was nowhere to be found– she slipped away as soon as she’d cut his bindings. He didn’t hear her leave, the driftwood door in front of them hadn’t been opened.
“Euna is always popping in and out, hope you weren’t too keen on speaking to her soon. She’ll be back in a bit.”
“Hm,” he snorted, sitting down in front of the fire on a log carved chair, “I need a reprieve from that hellion.”
“You’ll get used to it,” Atohi said, rolling up one of the lambskin window shades, letting the smoke ventilate further, “You kneelers seem to have a way of thinkin’ you can tame women– ain’t no tamin’ that one, you’ll die trying.”
This particular window was facing the sea, the waves rolling and waning, splashing against the cliffside near them. A gray and white seal was dancing through the tide.

“Let’s Keep This Between Us”
Note: Leon is your older brother’s best friend.
Leon Kennedy x Female Reader
Part 1 of 1
Tagging @alewesker ❤️
TW: Mentions of death, alcohol usage, language, NSFW situations (smut)‼️
You had walked into your older brother’s house to visit like you did every Friday after work. You were an RN that worked five days a week. Every Friday, you, your brother Parker, and his best friend Leon Kennedy would spend the evening at your sibling’s house, drinking, playing pool, video games, going swimming, watching baseball and whatnot. It was a great way to spend time with the two people that you cared most about in the world and helped you wind down after a long work week of saving patients.
Both your parents had died seven years ago in a car accident that was caused by a drunk driver. Even though when it happened you and your brother were considered young adults, you both were young and lost. But Leon helped you two along the way, never leaving you or your brother’s side. He was like family. Leon was your brother’s best friend since kindergarten, and that never changed. So you all have known each other your whole lives.
Shutting the front door and kicking off your shoes, leaving them by the front door, you heard a shout that belonged to Parker sounding from the living room.
“Ah shit! Grand slam by fucking Mike Trout!” He yelled in frustration, gripping his beer bottle tightly, his knuckles turning white. “The Reds are better than that! We’re down by THREE runs?! How the hell did that happen?!”
You rolled your eyes in annoyance, your headache slowly beginning to worsen, “Shut up, Parker. I love the Reds, but right now I don’t care. I’ve already had a rough fucking day. That’s enough of your damn screaming.” The living room could be seen upon entering the house. You could see Leon and Parker sitting beside each other watching the baseball game.
“What happened, Y/N?” Leon’s head turned around to look at you, asking with concern. “Are you okay?” He immediately stood up from the leather couch and made his way to you, worry evident in his icy blue orbs.
“You good, lil sis?” Parker questioned from the couch, his attention instantly focusing on you.
“I’m fine, but one of my patients wasn’t. He was just a kid. He… coded. The poor kid survived… barely. I— I had to do CPR until a few other nurses and doctors came in to help me. But we saved him.” You paused at some parts, tears threatening to fall down your face.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N. Come here.” Leon spoke gently, enveloping you in a comforting, warm hug.
As your arms were wrapped around his abdomen, his arms were wrapped around your waist, the smell of him instantly traveling to your nose. Leon’s familiar, masculine cologne always seemed to soothe you. The tears were stinging your eyes but eventually went away. It was weird the calming effect Leon had on you, but it worked.
“You saved that kid, Y/N. I’m proud of you. I know that wasn’t easy to do.” Leon stated confidently, his low voice close to your ear sending shivers down your spine.
“Thank you, Leon… For always being here for me… Reassuring me. You’re a good friend.” You thanked him with a small smile after pulling away.
Leon’s pretty white teeth were formed in a bright smile as he spoke to you. “You don’t have to thank me for that, Y/N. I want to be there for you and Parker anytime you need me. You and him have always been there for me too.”
“Yeah, I agree with Leon.” Parker added, patting you on the back. “You’re a really good nurse, lil sis. That kid was lucky to have you there… It sounds like you need something to take your mind off of things. And I know just the thing. Wait here… I’ll be back with some stronger shit.” Parker slapped your arm playfully before he slipped on his shoes and car keys, leaving you and Leon alone.
“Wonder what your brother has in mind.” Leon laughed, shaking his head, resulting in his brown hair swaying cutely.
“No idea. But it’s probably not good.” You smirked while rolling your eyes. “My headache is slowly becoming worse. A few beers would’ve helped. I need something— anything— to take my mind off it. Right now. I can’t wait for him to get back. You got anymore beers left? I need to get drunk asap.” You rubbed your temples with your eyes closed, attempting to ease the throbbing pain.
“I have something in mind.” Leon spoke lowly, something foreign in his voice.
At his words, your eyes snapped open. The way his words left his mouth seductively, along with the huskiness of his voice. And all you could think was “Is he flirting with me?” You gulped at his sudden straightforwardness. It was odd. He had never spoken to you in that way before. And you’d be embarrassed to admit that it kind of turned you on. But then you wondered if it was all the alcohol talking.
“Leon, you’re just drunk. You’re not thinking clearly. We can watch the game until Parker comes back.” You tried to avoid his ocean eyes as you took his large hand in yours and led him to the living room to watch the Reds v. Angels game.
Leon chuckled at you. “No, I’m not drunk. I haven’t drank anything. I’m completely sober.” He admitted.
You raised an eyebrow realizing he was telling the truth. He wasn’t swaying or stumbling when he walked and he wasn’t slurring over his words. “Okay. So what’re you talking about?”
“I think you know exactly what I’m talking about, beautiful.” Leon said, his voice deep as he placed his hands on your hips.
“Leon, what’s gotten into you?” You questioned, a slight blush on your cheeks while your heart fluttered. “Are— are you…”
“Shhh. Let me make you feel good.” Leon grazed his lips over the side of your neck as you tensed up in anxiousness. “I’ve liked you for a really long time, Y/N. I think it’s about time you know.”
You gulped once again at his words. “Y-You have?”
Leon smirked against your neck, “Mmhmm. Let’s keep this between us. For now at least. I don’t want Parker to murder me.”
You nodded in response, knowing you wouldn’t be able to form a coherent answer. You had a crush on Leon for a long long time, and you never knew that he knew. You didn’t tell him and you didn’t tell your brother either. So you had no idea how he knew. You guessed you weren’t so subtle with your actions and the way you looked at him. But at that moment, that was at the back of your mind. All you wanted was Leon’s lips on yours.
You wondered where this newfound confidence had came from as you placed your hands on his cheeks and led his lips to yours. The kiss started off slow, passionate, and sweet, causing butterflies in your stomach. The way you felt at that moment was like nothing you’ve ever experienced before. Your past relationships have never given you this feeling before, and you believe that nobody could compare to the man in front of you.
As your lips moved in sync, Leon’s hands roamed your body. His hands were first on your cheeks but went down to your shoulders, then traveled to your chest, next to your waist, then your hips, then he started squeezing your ass. You squealed when he made contact with your bottom, causing him to chuckle in the kiss. Your tongues fought for dominance and his won before he pulled away reluctantly. Leon’s hands then went to the back of your thighs.
“Jump.”
You jumped and wrapped your legs around his waist as he secured you. Both of his hands lifting you up by your thighs. Your lips were on each other’s again while he carried you to the couch, laying you on your back. Leon was on top of you as his lips moved from your lips to your necks, leaving bruises behind.
“Way to go for being subtle.” You joked as he continued leaving hot, wet kisses on your neck, leaving behind hickeys already beginning to form.
“I can’t help myself, Y/N. Plus, Parker will be too drunk to notice.” Leon smiled slyly before taking off his shirt, showing off his muscular upper body.
“Damn. I could never get tired of seeing that.” You but your bottom lip, gazing at his body lustfully.
Leon grinned at that while he took his pants off throwing it across the room. “This body’s all yours… Now it’s your turn, princess.” He helped you take your scrubs off, along with your undergarments. And then you were completely at his mercy. “I could never get tired of seeing you like this. You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
His words made you blush. “Leon, I’m ready.”
“Are you sure?” Leon asked, making sure you actually wanted him.
You nodded in response, “Yes, Leon. I need you.”
Leon’s eyes had darkened immediately at your words. “Your wish is my command.” He began to tug his boxers off, his dick springing out from the confined fabric.
He was bigger and thicker than you would’ve thought. Leon’s boxers were on the ground before you knew it. It was red and standing tall, intimidating you. It was definitely the largest you had been with. You wondered if it would even fit inside you.
“Hey, if you don’t want me, I understand.” Leon said, worry filling his eyes. His darker than normal orbs were boring into yours. “You can stop me right now. Anytime.”
“No. No. That’s the last thing I’d want… Leon, I want you so bad.” You admitted, almost pleadingly. “Do you want me?” You asked, worried about his answer.
“Of course I do.”
“What are you waiting on?” You questioned, and without any warning, his thumb went to your clit and you gasped at his touch. Leon was rubbing your bud in circular motions and you felt like you were on cloud nine already. And he inserted his middle finger, then his ring finger, following his index finger. “Oh fuck, Leon.” You moaned over and over again at his expertise.
“You’re so wet. All for me.” He continued to keep a quick pace with his skillful digits. And pretty soon, you came hard on his fingers. He rode out your high and pulled his digits out, licking and sucking his fingers clean. “Goddamn, you taste divine.”
And with that, Leon kissed you passionately, making you taste yourself. Once he pulled away, he jerked himself off a few times, leaking pre-cum on your stomach. “You ready, baby?”
You nodded, unsure if you’d be able to form any coherent words. He once again left you speechless.
With no hesitation, he entered you, and all you could see were stars. Leon grabbed your legs and laid them atop his shoulders so he had better access to you. Your eyes rolled back into your head in pleasure. “Leon, oh my god.”
“Love to fill you up.” He murmured as he first started at a slow pace and worked his way faster, making sure not to hurt you and to make sure your comfort and pleasure was at its peak. “Shit, you feel so good around my cock.”
Leon rammed into you over and over again as you moved your hips along with his. And soon ecstasy overcame you once again. You came harder than you ever came before and all you could see was white as your pussy convulsed around him. He grunted in pure bliss. You cumming on his cock made him cum deep inside you. And when he pulled out, some of his seed tried escaping but he shoved it all back inside you with his fingers.
“Fuck, that’s so hot, Y/N.” Leon groaned, as he laid on top of you, kissing your sweaty forehead. He was sweaty as well because his hair was sticking to his forehead and cheeks. “I’ve wanted to do this with you for so long.”
“So have I.” You told him truthfully as you raked your finger through his hair.
Time must’ve gotten away from the two of you because you heard the front door open…
~~~~~
This was my first time writing about Leon Kennedy. And I apologize, I’m not the best at writing, but I enjoy it. Please go easy on me, I haven’t written anything in a while lol. I hope you all enjoyed reading though! I really loved writing this. It’s made me realize how much I missed it. I wrote this for @alewesker ! We both love Leon so much. 😂
Much love,
on this week's tully tuesday, ok, i cannot defend the trout sigil, but the interesting thing about their coat of arms is that the colors not only reflect their geographic domain (mud red for the red fork of the trident and blue and white for the tumblestone flowing into it), it also mirrors the family's Signature Look of red-brown hair and blue eyes. what other house has that matchup of banner colors and physical looks? certainly not any of the other great houses. the starks have grey eyes but not naturally snow white hair. the lannisters have golden hair but not crimson eyes. the baratheons have black hair but not yellow eyes like a sith lord or the bully in a christmas story. the greyjoys also have black hair but no yellow/gold eyes either (that we know of. nobody can say for sure what's under euron's eye patch). the arryns may tend to blue eyes like jon arryn and harry the heir, however, i think we'd know, even with so few of them in canon, if any had pure white hair from childhood. the tyrells have neither green hair/eyes nor gold hair/eyes. the martells have neither hair nor eyes that are orange, red, and/or gold. the targaryens had red-eyed (but white-haired) bloodraven, an albino outlier, and black-haired family members favoring their dornish, baratheon, strong, etc. heritage but none of them had red eyes (that we know of), and all those are exceptions not conforming to the Signature Look of the incestuous blood of the dragon with their pale hair and purpleish eyes. that trademark true targ coloring could only be reflected in banners of a violet dragon on a silver field or vice versa.
but no, no, with the tully banners grrm just had to triple the significance with geographic locale, family hair/eye coloring that just somehow matches the rivers where their castle is (did this look only develop after axel tully built his stronghold at that strategic location? or did their banners already reflect their looks before they became associated with that river meeting too? did the present coat of arms come after riverrun was built, or was it just a serendipitous act of destiny for it all to match up that way?) plus all the fish symbolism relating to catelyn. (no, i'm still not really defending the trout bc that part doesn't really extend to the rest of the house the same way.)
Sansa’s Hair/Jon Snow
The Real Honey Colored Hair(Spoilers Extended)
EXTENDED
Every reader knows the great song, The Bear and The Maiden Fair, and everyone knows all the theories about Dany/Jorah, Jaime/Brienne. But every single theory misses the most important point. What exactly is honey colored hair? Most everyone assumes honey-blond.... it’s easy to remember, it fits the theories easy, and in martins story it is indeed a type, but not the one your supposed to find.
Dany, Jaime are red herrings. The entire song itself is the story of TWOW. The tourney in the Vale, most lords not selling food, the NW and wildlings and Northerners needing to buy food now that Jon has a loan... and yes Jon is the dancing bear. How? He is a figuratively adopted son of Jeor Mormont. He is given the family sword, trained as Mormonts replacement, is chosen LC after Mormonts bird chooses him.... Jon is a bearded bear. All black (NW black), and dark brown, hair and beard....
Who is his three companions? Pyp, Grenn, and Edison Tollet, who has family in the vale. More than likely. So connections, and there is one more, the goat.
Now this one is tinfoil so far, but he is the hooded man in winterfell. The Blackfish. Who disappeared from the story, and has not gone to any loyal holdfasts, cannot go to the Vale.... But has been described as a goat.
Her uncle listened silently, heavy brows shadowing his eyes as his frown grew deeper. Brynden Tully had always known how to listen … to anyone but her father. He was Lord Hoster's brother, younger by five years, but the two of them had been at war as far back as Catelyn could remember. During one of their louder quarrels, when Catelyn was eight, Lord Hoster had called Brynden "the black goat of the Tully flock." Laughing, Brynden had pointed out that the sigil of their house was a leaping trout, so he ought to be a black fish rather than a black goat, and from that day forward he had taken it as his personal emblem. AGOT Catelyn 6
In AFFC Brienne 5, the high road to the Vale is closed by now. Leaving one loyal area, the Neck. Where the last nobles who went south were headed to find Reed, and deliver the verbal orders. Basically he is the reason the Frey’s disappear. His job in Robb’s army was the outriders.
But back to the point, honey isn’t just honey-blond. It’s actually the color least associated with honey colored hair. The darker the honey, the stronger the taste.... and it is shown throughout almost all the books. Darker honey is brown and looks red in the light.
The first time honeyed hair appears, it is a redhead. Yes a redhead. And tyrion knows women and women’s assets, so we should listen.....
Two other girls sat playing at tiles before a leaded glass window. The freckled one wore a chain of blue flowers in her honeyed hair. The other had skin as smooth and black as polished jet, wide dark eyes, small pointed breasts.” ACOK Tyrion 3
Freckles are a common occurrence with redheads... But by the time we get to Tyrion 7 we have read to much and forgot when we get the actual hair color.
Is milord feeling unloved?” Dancy slid into his lap and nibbled at his ear. “I have a cure for that.” Smiling, Tyrion shook his head. “You are too beautiful for words, sweetling, but I’ve grown fond of Alayaya’s remedy.” “You’ve never tried mine. Milord never chooses anyone but ’Yaya. She’s good but I’m better, don’t you want to see?” “Next time, perhaps.” Tyrion had no doubt that Dancy would be a lively handful. She was pug-nosed and bouncy, with freckles and a mane of thick red hair that tumbled down past her waist. But he had Shae waiting for him at the manse.” ACOK Tyrion 7
Funnily enough, she is a combination of Sansa, and Ygritte. Long haired like Sansa, pug nose and bouncy breasts like Ygritte. Ygritte is ACOK Jon 6 for her pug nose, shaggy mop of red hair that is messy, and ASOS Jon 3 for her breasts...
So red heads are honey colored. And associated with blue flowers in their hair, so let’s see some other examples....
A dark young man and a pretty blonde woman were sharing a horn of mead. A pregnant woman stood over a brazier cooking a brace of hens, while a grey-haired man in a tattered cloak of black and red sat crosslegged on a pillow, playing a lute and singing:” ASOS Jon 1.
Val is blonde.
Val looked at him with pale grey eyes. “He always climbed too fast.” She was as fair as he’d remembered, slender, full-breasted, graceful even at rest, with high sharp cheekbones and a thick braid of honey-colored hair that fell to her waist.” ASOS Jon 10
Pale grey eyed, honey-colored hair.....
Val stood beside him, tall and fair. They had crowned her with a simple circlet of dark bronze, yet she looked more regal in bronze than Stannis did in gold. Her eyes were grey and fearless, unflinching. Beneath an ermine cloak, she wore white and gold. Her honey-blond hair had been done up in a thick braid that hung over her right shoulder to her waist. The chill in the air had put color in her cheeks.” ADWD Jon 3 Grey eyed once again. Honey-blond hair.
The light of the half-moon turned Val’s honey-blond hair a pale silver and left her cheeks as white as snow. She took a deep breath. “The air tastes sweet.”” ADWD Jon 8 And in the moonlight honey-blond hair is a pale silver.
Then Ghost emerged from between two trees, with Val beside him.”
“They look as though they belong together. Val was clad all in white; white woolen breeches tucked into high boots of bleached white leather, white bearskin cloak pinned at the shoulder with a carved weirwood face, white tunic with bone fastenings. Her breath was white as well … but her EYES WERE BLUE, her LONG BRAID THE COLOR OF DARK HONEY, her cheeks flushed red from the cold. It had been a long while since Jon Snow had seen a sight so lovely.” ADWD Jon 11
And here we go, eyes are BLUE, her long braid the color of DARK HONEY..... Jon is not seeing Val... it’s the same thing that happens when he sees Melisandre..... he sees who he lies to himself is Ygritte..... but when does Ygritte have LONG reddish brown hair? Jon knows one female with LONG REDDISH HAIR. Who currently has CHESTNUT HAIR. SANSA.... Martin makes a great distinction between honey in the hair, reddish, dark honey, brown and honey-blond. You are supposed to get sucked into honey-blond and miss the true honey.
But the answer lies with Jon 6, and Ghost himself brushing against Jon, Jon is receiving visions, or glimpses of the future while still conscious. Basically he has become one with ghost already. It first truly started when Jon takes the new recruits to the hearttree to swear their vows. He smells better, sees better....
In the shadow of the Wall, the direwolf brushed up against his fingers. For half a heartbeat the night came alive with a thousand smells, and Jon Snow heard the crackle of the crust breaking on a patch of old snow. Someone was behind him, he realized suddenly. Someone who smelled warm as a summer day. When he turned he saw Ygritte. She stood beneath the scorched stones of the Lord Commander’s Tower, cloaked in darkness and in memory. The light of the moon was in her hair, her red hair kissed by fire. When he saw that, Jon’s heart leapt into his mouth. “Ygritte,” he said. “Lord Snow.” The voice was Melisandre’s. Surprise made him recoil from her. “Lady Melisandre.” He took a step backwards. “I mistook you for someone else.” At night all robes are grey. Yet suddenly hers were red. He did not understand how he could have taken her for Ygritte. She was taller, thinner, older, though the moonlight washed years from her face. Mist rose from her nostrils, and from pale hands naked to the night. “You will freeze your fingers off,” Jon warned.” ADWD JON 6
Once again the night came alive, Jon’s senses are massively increased. He thinks Ygritte because men see what they expect to see. Same with Sansa and her unkiss, her dream thing of Payne coming up the tower stairs. Lady is dead yes, but notice how Martin describes her, Lady’s Shade. A proper noun. Not a common shade.
And as a bonus, in the TWOW Alayne 1 chapter, Harry described his new baby momma like this:
Saffron is very beautiful, tall and slim with big brown eyes and HAIR LIKE HONEY. Alayne raised her head,” more beautiful than me?”
Google Saffron.... it’s a red spice... RED. The most costly spice by weight in the world....
Now here’s Sansa described as her Alayne persona....
And at Winterfell, Sansa was a little girl with auburn hair. My daughter is a maiden tall and fair, and her hair is chestnut. Men see what they expect to see, Alayne.”” AFFC Alayne 1 It’s almost the exact same description. Auburn Sansa is the true honey haired wench. Who loves to dance.
And as we have been shown throughout every book, men do see what they expect to see... especially when one is glamoured..... And to show that really pale blond hair is not true honey,
He doesn’t like Ned. The squire seemed nice enough to Arya; maybe a little shy, but good-natured. She had always heard that Dornishmen were small and swarthy, with black hair and small black eyes, but Ned had big blue eyes, so dark that they looked almost purple. And his hair was a pale blond, more ash than honey.” ASOS Arya 8
