Question:
I am searching for something about a British marine captain called Sir Frederick Gabriel. After WW2 he was stationed in Northrhine Westphalia and lived in Bielefeld. He married a German woman. He also had three stars and was a close 'friend' of Queen Elizabeth II. He used to get a call on New Years Eve every year. He died in the 1990s of bone cancer.
During WW2 he commanded a ship which was damaged to a functionality of 40% in a battle with the Germans. He made it back to Britain and freed two prisoner camps.
There are no articles about him whatsoever. My family was friends with him after the war and my dad (who was 14/15 when he died) told us about him. I'd like to see if someone knows more.
Also he was awarded the highest medal in Britain (not sure its name) for his ship action.

I just read a fic where Jason goes back in time to before Bruce was born, and he kinda just stays there, so it’s both Alfred and Jason raising Bruce and the rest of the Batfamily, but I just think it would be so much funnier/cooler if Jason went back in time and he just becomes Alfred. Like, it’s a closed loop and Alfred was Jason and Jason was Alfred. Idk, I just think it was a fun concept.
The fic is We Realized We’re Both to Blame But What Could We Do? By appalyneinstitute1

Over the Top (1918) - John Nash (1893-1977) [Great Britain]
Oil on Canvas
[Image Description. Painting of British WW1 soldiers climbing out of a trench and sluggishly marching towards the smoke of war. Two lie face down, dead in the trench. A dead body is splayed in the vibrant white snow between climbing soldiers. Gloomy skies of clouds and smoke loom behind the scene of snowy plain and red-brown trench. ]
Painted by John Nash, WW1 veteran. Painting was commissioned to commemorate the 1st Artists' Rifles. The scene in the painting recalls the group removing themselves from rest, in response to a German Attack on December 30th, 1917 at Welsh Ridge.
1st Artists' Rifles experienced heavy casualties during the war.
You can see this painting in person at the Imperial War Museum in London, United Kingdom.

So, not only did Harry and Meghan finance this trip with their own resources, their Archewell Foundation just announced three major contributions to support education, culture and community well-being in the areas they visited.

I Vow to Thee, My Country
I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love,
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar, the dearest and the best,
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.
❤️🫡🇬🇧💙 Respect to all who served and continue to serve ❤️🫡🇬🇧💙

There's a lot of opinions regarding this decisions - and I know a lot of genuine concern - but just wanted to share JJ's post, I imagine the OG boys involved at the 1st Games in London will be feeling a lot of emotion about it coming back to a home crowd, and just how far both they and the Games have come since then.
