Alex Drake and Sam Tyler are opposites in several ways, but I think the one that’s the saddest to me is that Sam Tyler fought so hard at every second and every interval to get home and then woke up to find that there was literally nothing left for him, meanwhile Alex is the one who actually has a life waiting for her and reasons to go home but she consistently forgets that she has to fight until it almost costs her everything.
Like there’s nothing sadder than Sam Tyler clinging so viciously to every shred of the real world, only to realise that it doesn’t have a place for him meanwhile Alex Drake is on the floor trying her best to remember her daughter’s name because she’s been so caught up in 1981 that she’s forgotten how much the people in 2008 love her.
I swear to god I am a MESS.

The fact that the UK doesn’t have anthology series anymore is criminal.
Yes, we have Black Mirror but that doesn’t count because it’s not for newbies.
Do you know how many UK careers were launched with ITV’s Play of the Week? Or BBC’s Play for the Day?? Screen One, Screen Two???
The closest we had as training grounds was Doctors or Holby City and one of those has been cancelled and the other reduced!
