Saw this over on Twitter and thought I’d share.
The image features a silhouette of Ruby Bridges ((in)famous for being the first African-American child to be educated at an all-white school during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis on 14 November 1960) against a white wall with an image of Kamala Harris, Vice President Elect of the United States of America, who is famously the first African-American, South-Asian American woman Vice President in American history.
The image of Ruby Bridges comes from Norman Rockwell’s painting ‘The Problem We All Live With’ and the image design is by Bria Goeller & GoodTrubble. You’ll find this image design (featuring Bridges and Harris) available on t-shirts from WTF America. WTF AMERICA is a political satirical design company whose aim “is to evoke thought provoking messages through catchy designs that empower, inspire symbolically, and bridge humor through conscience reflection.”

Why do women put up with so much? Amy explains...
Photo illustration by Bria Goeller
Amy Dickinson
24 November, 2020
Dear Amy: Why are so many women willing to give up so much just to be with a man?
I see so many questions to you regarding mistreatment by men, and yet the women have to turn to you for advice as to whether they should stay in the relationship?
Has society really convinced so many women that they can’t be happy without a man? Your thoughts?
Wondering
Dear Wondering: I don’t think that this behavior is exclusive to women.
However, I do believe that for centuries, women have been told and taught that their true worth lies in their relationships, and that their womanhood hinged on motherhood, which (until recently) required a mate and outside financial support.
Lack of access to education and opportunities outside the family structure reinforced this idea.
When people feel systemically disempowered, they tend to lower their expectations, and take what they can get – until they don’t have to take it anymore.
So – welcome to now. People across the spectrum of human experience are waking up and insisting on change.

Opinion | I Desegregated the University of Georgia. History Is Still in the Making.
A few months before we enrolled in college, 6-year-old Ruby Bridges exercised her right to enroll in the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans. Her walk, accompanied by federal marshals, was immortalized in the Norman Rockwell painting “The Problem We All Live With.” (The same painting formed a shadow in Bria Goeller’s photo illustration of Kamala Harris after Ms. Harris…
