Overall, the bluest names with at least 5,000 major-party voters are Imani, Latoya and Tamika for women and Jermaine, Darnell and Malik for men. On the other side of the political divide, we find Brayden, Colton and Tanner for Republican men and Darla, Misty and — ironically for the party of Lincoln —Dixie for women. Incredibly, some names switch parties depending on whether you give them to a boy or a girl. Most women named Laverne are Democrats, while most male Lavernes register Republican. Tyler, Dylan and Toby see similar splits. Jean and Shelly swing in the opposite direction: A female Jean is more than twice as likely to register Republican as a male Jean would be. The politics of a name also depend on the era in which it was chosen. For older Democrats of both genders, Willie is one of the bluest names, as are Roosevelt (for men) and Hyacinth and Queen for women. For younger women, the equivalent names would be Imani and Ayanna. For younger men, they’re Malik and Jermaine.
For young Republican men, the most partisan names are Brock or Colton, while their retirement-age friends see a strong rightward lean when they meet a Galen or a Brent. For Republican women, young Gracie and Bailee give way to older Leann and Jolene. A select few names have also changed their political polarity over time. The most obvious? If you meet a woman named Reagan age 45 or older, when the name was rather rare, she’s probably a Democrat. If you meet a Reagan age 44 or younger — and therefore born after GOP phenomenon Ronald Reagan won the 1980 presidential election — she’s much more likely to register Republican. More often, though, the trend runs in the opposite direction: Older folks register Republican more often than their younger buddies with the very same name, presumably because younger voters lean left. We see old Republicans and young Democrats all named Terrell, Dwayne and Darrell — names that further analysis shows either belong to younger Black men or older White ones. We also see that pattern with women’s names that lost popularity among White people: Janet, Darlene and Karla have grown more Democratic as they’ve grown more Hispanic. Similarly, Joy has moved left as it has been adopted by more Black women, and Kathy followed suit as its popularity grew among their Asian and Hispanic friends. Among women, only Mattie and Gracie shift left among older voters. Further analysis shows both tend to belong either to older Black women or younger White ones. For men, we see the same trend in Old Testament favorites such as Levi and Seth. In perhaps related news, the most common surname for a Seth in his 5os or 60s, when they lean left, is “Cohen.” The top surname for a Seth in his 20s or 30s, when they lean right, is “Johnson.”
this is very interesting. I'm assuming that most female Jeans are old white women and male Jeans are likely Haitian or from French-speaking African countries. Hyacinth is also interesting as it's an extremely uncommon name in general and I don't think associated with any particular ethnic group.

Brain Curd #40
Brain Curds are lightly edited flash fiction - practically first drafts - posted daily and sometimes written with the express intention of being terrible… but, you know, in an endearing way. Please enjoy.
Brayden took a pained swig of his black coffee, which he drank purely for aesthetic reasons, and rubbed his head. “Let me get this straight…”
“You?” said Alice. “Never.”
“You want me to fuck that virgin, blindfolded, to settle a bet?”
“Yeah.”
“How is it that you so easily,” he fluttered his hands like a butterfly, “let things like this exit your mouth?”
Alice took another sip of her matcha. “I like to have a variety of things in my mouth. Something has to leave eventually.”
“And you,” he pointed at Sarah. “Aren’t you supposed to be homophobic?”
“I’m trans.” She replied.
“But you’re religious.”
“It’s not my soul on God’s chopping block. You were going to have sex anyway.”
Brayden paused. “I can’t argue with that.”
“Look, it’s simple.” Alice put her hand on his shoulder. “We flip a coin - heads he gets vag, tails he gets tail. Then we ask him which hole he thinks he was in.”
Brayden smirked. “What about heads he gets head?”
“That’s not part of the bet.” Alice shook her head.
“Wait!” Sarah daintily slammed her hands onto the table. “We have to do it in the butt first!”
“What does the poophole loophole have to do with our bet?” Alice replied. “It’s like you said, you aren’t going to hell for his sluttery.”
“You’re forgetting the whole point! If you start the virgin in the front hole, he’ll know immediately that something is different when you move to the back!”
“So you admit he’ll be able to tell.”
“Yeah, we’re going back-to-back here!”
“Back to front.”
“Front to back.” Brayden added. “Stink to pink is how you get an infection.”
“Stay out of this.” Alice put her hand to his face. “You can’t just change the terms of the bet willy-nilly, Sarah.”
“That was my nickname in high school,” Brayden replied.
“What we’re really trying to determine,” Sarah said, exasperated, “is whether a guy can tell he’s not in the intended hole. You always hear guys say they missed! That they didn’t know they went the wrong way! What we need to do is have him go in the back and tell him he’s going in the front.”
“Is that ethical?” Brayden asked.
“That completely demolishes the integrity of this experiment!” Alice crossed her arms. “Forget it!”
The three sat in silence for a moment. Brayden took another sip of bitter coffee and looked at the test subject, mopping behind the counter. “He’s kinda cute, though.”
Lily, the fourth member of the group (though first if you’d asked her), entered the cafe and saw her friends sitting at their usual table. She rushed over and sat down.
“Guys, guys, guys! You won’t believe what just happened to me on the train!”
“If it were me,” Brayden replied, “I’d say the answer was hidden in the question. ‘Guys, guys, guys’ running a train.”
“In public?” Sarah asked, shocked.
“No, but there would be cameras.”
“It wasn’t anything like that,” Lily blushed. “I saw this cute trans girl sitting alone, so I sat next to her…”
Alice rolled her eyes. “You always do fall for the clocky ones.”
“Anyway, we got talking and we have a lot in common. She gave me her Insta.”
“Are you going on a date?” Sarah took a sip of her melting frappe. “That’s so cute. Love at first sight is adorable.”
“Well, yeah, I did ask her out actually, to a kink club. She said yes.”
“For the first date?!?”
“You just don’t understand T4T lesbian culture, Sarah. Of course for the first date. You can’t go to dinner with someone until you know you can hold a conversation.”
Alice nodded. “It’s true.”
“But there’s a problem! I looked at her Instagram, and…” Lily put her hands on her cheeks. “She’s cis!”

Do you guys remember this ask? Well, I found a Bachelortte simulator. While it's in no way going to top the one I wrote I thought it would be fun to see what it spit out for me. AND it includes more players than my original post! Let's see what it comes up with for me:
Night One
I would never hurt your Ross baby.
Everyone knows how good Freddie looks in a suit.
Tony does seem like the sweet guy that would write a poem!
Flattery will only get you so far Timo - but like don't stop.
Tyler, WTF?
No introduction is needed, Wilson, we know you.
Who were you yelling at before the show to lose your voice, Matty?
Don't need to brag Sid.
OMG such a Pat thing to do LOL
Roman, with butterflies? Damn.
We found who Matty was fighting with, Nico.
Are we going to do this handshake forever now? Yup. Count on it.
Everyone loves magic, right?
Weird way to get the first impression rose, but like Chris would totally rock the look.
Willy being a good singer would not surprise me one bit.
Adam gonna make me blush.
Vince is lucky he's cute.
Picking a weird time to want to boost your socials Andrei. Because we all out here looking for some more off-season content.
You know Vladdy was blushing the entire time.
Barzy, getting shy? So cute!
Most of the rose ceremony checks out. But like sending Anthony, Brady, Josh and Matt home on the same night? Unbelievable. Those men are too damn fine.
Week One
Tyler and Chris out here looking out for me
Tony, don't think like that. You know your sweetness can just sneak up on someone and make them fall for you. It's only happened so many times with The Road Wife, it can happen again
Leave it to one of the most attractive men in hockey to come in and steal the first kiss of the show - no one could say no to Josi
Tkachuk upset about not getting enough attention -> confides in someone -> gives the rose to the person he confides in. Such a bitch move LOL
1 on 1 date with Ross? Yes, please. Horseback riding would be a gong show.
TJ, my first hockey love. Would be such a humbling date.
Such a good-looking group of guys to watch go.
Week Two
As if I'd ever tell you that, Chris.
Roman really out here stealing a lot of my attention. But like, have you seen him?
You guys are really interested in this one question, huh?
Cuddles with Ross? Say less. He should have gotten the rose.
You got a problem with my boy, Vladdy? Jokes on you, he gets the rose.
Thank you, Timo that was needed.
See I told you, Tony!
1 on 1 with Vince. These dates are winning. And such a serious topic! And he's humble!
Damn. What was this version of celly thinking? Sending home Adam, Brayden and Nico all in one go!? Delusional.
Week Three
Andrei, doing sweet precious things? Consider me swooning.
Pretty boy comforting pretty boy.
Cocky and Confident, TJ. Love it.
What is it with me giving roses to the guys that are getting bullied by the other contestants LOL
VLADDY IS PRECIOUS AND I WILL ALWAYS LOVE HIM.
Why would producers let me take Chris on a nature hike when Jeremy was still in the show. Like com'on horrible planning on their part.
Tony deserved better.
Week Four
Timo would 100% not be afraid of PDA in front of literally anyone
Are we sure Vice and I were just cuddling under that blanket?
Chris doing a backflip would be hella impressive
There it is, Wilson, being typical Wilson
I am really bad at giving the boys the attention they want
Why the fuck would I let Andrei make fun of Vladdy!? And then send Vladdy home!? My heart hurts.
Week Five
Let's be real, I'd be out there kissing all of them
You got a problem with Ross? Rose for Ross then LOL
Tom is obviously not too sad about it - he ships it
Should have gotten rid of him when he made fun of Vladdy!
Week 6
It was Shania Twain - has to be if Vince is getting the rose because you know he's having a good time
the crowd is getting thin, but maybe spend the time trying to win my heart boys
OOOF no wonder he's such fuck boy. Still not over that breakup.
AND CHRIS TOO? What are the chances?
Week Seven - Hometowns
A trip to Denmark would be incredible. So many sights to see and it would be such a cool experience to travel there with him. It seems like it would be a nice and intimate time with Freddie and his family.
He's such a family guy, it's undeniable.
An understandable situation. I've only been prospecting like 30 guys over the last few episodes. I'd be cold towards me too LOL
We come full circle to night one. I'd never hurt you, Ross. You're too pretty to be hurt by someone like me.
Week Eight - One on One Dates
I was on tv before this? Damn, I'm going to need to know how that happened.
I can confirm I'd be in love with at least 2 of the final 4 LOL So yes, I'd be very confused
👀
It took you until the final 4 to freak about the other guys? Couldn't have done this in week 1 when there were like 20 other guys to compete with?
Week Nine - Fantasy Suites
Oh you know it happened
You mean we didn't just have our fun in the hot tub?
ALL THIS TALK ABOUT NOT WANTING TO GET HURT AND NOW YOU HURT ME? I was rooting for you, Ross!
And it brings us to the final two. My 1st hockey love TJ Oshie - the very reason I write hockey rpf and my newest hockey love Vince Dunn. Kind of poetic, isn't it?
The Finale
DAMN, this would make my heart hurt. You know Vince is on the verge of tears while reading that letter. It would not be an easy decision to reject his proposal... and you know... at the reunion special... might be one of those I chose the wrong guy situations LOL Because it was all adding up to look like it was going to be Vince before that moment.

In praise of Austin Stogner. Stogner is a "Receiving Tight End.".
The other type Oklahoma uses is an hback tight end, a hybrid between a traditional tight end and a full back.
Muscular, normally lined up in the back field. Rarely if never lined up as a slot receiver. Can really block, be a "thumper." Good hands but most receptions for big plays are sneaking him out of the backfield. Brayden Willis, Jeremiah Hall, Dmitri Flowers, Trey Millard.
Stogner is 6' 6", 255 lbs. Players comparable to him - Mark Andrews, Grant Calcatara.
Stogner to the best of his ability has turned himself into the role of an hback blocking tight end. Receiving has only caught 9 passes on the year for 81 yds.

07•28•23 weekend in Hurricane
This weekend it was just me and Dad down in Hurricane, and we had a great time. Brayden was originally planning to come down, but decided that he wanted a weekend at home to get stuff done - very understandable. So that made it easier, since we didn't have to pack Reefy up and all that.
I drove down Friday morning, and spent the afternoon swimming and reading, of course. Then Dad surprised me by wanting to go see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at Tuacahn. Of course I was down. We had dinner at Sakura, which is just the best, and got pretzel bites at Thirst. Then we made our way to the theater! It didn't start until 9 PM, so we didn't think it would be too hot, but it actually was still crazy hot the entire time. We had great seats though, and it was the first show I'd seen there in awhile. We loved it - super cute.
The next day, I picked up some pizzas and we had a little pool party day. I can't get enough time in the water, it's insanely good. Weird that we had no puppies around, for the first time ever! We ate dinner at the local diner, and then went on an e-bike ride around the city, and the weather was just perfect for that. I loved getting some one-on-one time with him, even if driving back alone Sunday also was not fun haha.
