Shanelle Dyer vs Luisa Fernanda Cifuentes | PFL Paris

PFL has managed to round up a couple of very fun strikers as prospects at women's 125lbs. The UK's Shanelle Dyer (4-0) looks like a blue chip MMA prospect. She's an experienced kickboxing and muay thai fighter who has taken very quickly to MMA. She's a fantastic natural athlete to boot. She's apparently won a bunch of titles around Europe before transitioning to MMA. And at 23 years old, it really feels like we're looking at a future contender. She's also trained by former UFC bantamweight Brad Pickett.

Dyer will face off with Mariam Torchinava (9-2) at PFL Europe 2 this Saturday (June 8) which will be in Newcastle.

My story, 2023: Part 10

If you haven't seen part 1, you may want to go and see that first but it's up to you, just if you want to catch up you should read them in order. Please don't judge me in the comments, this is just my life and I wanted to share that so if you don't like it just ignore it please, thank you!

17th of February, Friday, 2023

So... Today was really fun! Even though Matt and Jarred (my best friends) because they were doing TAFE every Friday, I still had a fun day! Firstly, I had councilling with the new councillor which it was my first time.. it wasn't too bad.. I go their to get over my anxiety and try and get a job. Then, in third period I had my favourite teacher, Mr Grierson, he said my name with a nice sigh again! Plus I noticed he always looks at me when he calls my name it's a quick look until I say "here!" But he still looks at me and he don't look at anyone else when he says their names and he says everyones name quickly and mine slowely with a nice/good sigh at the end! Hehe, yay! I may be his teachers pet... not sure yet though! Anyway, then I had a class with my second favourite teacher (my old teacher crush) Mr Pickett... he's about 40 with kids but he's cute and looks like Brad pitt when Brad Pitt was young! Same hairstyle and same eyes! Haha! Today we were playing Kahoot (a school learning game) and I was cheating by using a calculator hehe, and Renee was calling me a cheater and trying to click on my laptop to get the wrong answer, then Mr Pickett laughed and said "Click on the calculator to get to get the wrong answer!" With a laugh and then he came over and tried to click on my calculator with his finger, I actually touched his finger with mine because he tried to click the weong number OMG and I said "go away!" With a giggle and he just giggled, OMG I said "go away" to a teacher! Haha, yeah... he's a pretty fun teacher! Well... he did use to be my teacher crush... now I understand why, he's fun and he's cute! Overall it was a great day!

Brave Combat Federation has added mixed martial artists Paul “Semtex” Daley, 36, Brad “One Punch” Pickett, 40, and Aaron “The Joker” Chalmers, 32, to its list of VIPs invited to “Brave 24: London.” The three are all from England.

 At UFC Fight Night 107: London, Brad Pickett made his final walk to the octagon, as he was set to retire following his bout against Marlon Vera.

 Pickett made his professional MMA debut in 2004, and is one of the pioneers of the light weight-classes and their rise to the big stages such as the UFC and other big combat organizations.

 Debuting for Cage Rage and essentially fighting for just the competition aspect, Picket made his rise and gained a wide following during his stay with WEC before being bought out by the UFC, in which provided the cage for his farewell fight, and countless new fans from all over the world.

 The England native fell defeat in his last bout, getting knocked out by a head kick in the 3rd round. Pickett stated: “When I was younger, I would have eaten that kick and continued on”, showing why it was time to hang the gloves up, or in his case, take the hat off.

 Pickett left every fight in the cage, and dedicated his body for entertainment and fun competition. A true warrior, and pioneer of this sport.

Chito Vera pulls off 3rd round KO in Brad Pickett retirement fight

MTB, ya cost Pickett his last fight! For the majority of the first two rounds, Pickett was in control both on the feet and from top position on the ground. Landed some good shots and even rocked Chito in the first. Then Brown told Pickett to keep it on the feet in the 3rd cause he had the better striking. Then Chito proceeded to pick Pickett off with single strikes from range before landing a headkick that ends the fight. Sucks seeing Pickett go out in front of his home crowd on a loss but also kind of fitting that the scrapper goes out on his back. Like a true professional. Congrats to Vera on the big win. Thank You Brad Pickett for the awesome career. We'll miss you.

In the 1800s, 1 in 4 cowboys were Black in the Old West.

The Federation of Black Cowboys 

They were formed in 1994 in Queens, NY by Virginia-native Ellis “Mountain Man” Harris (first photo), Brooklyn-native Kesha “Mama” Morse (photoed sitting atop the hay), North Carolina-native Arthur “J.R.” Fulmore (photoed holding the saddles) and some other Black Americans to promote the knowledge and heritage of the “Black West” in the East coast. 

They teach young kids the art of western horsemanship, the skills required to properly care for a horse and aim to upkeep the tradition with their descendants, as well as stories of Black American historical figures for all such as: Bill Pickett, Nat Love, Bass Reeves, and Stagecoach Mary. 

Mountain Man was inspired to form the likeminded crew after watching the first Black Rodeo in Randall’s Island, west of Harlem, in 1971. The likes of Muhammad Ali rolled through:

In 2016, with declining membership and dwindling finances, The FBC lost their long held stables and ability to host youth programs at the same capacity. The presence of Black American residents in New York, especially the 5 boroughs, drastically shifted stemming from decades prior and presently due to many being forced to uproot since then: the New Great Migration. (I always say we’re some rare breeds out here.) In spite of it all, it’s warming to know that the crew is able to continue to thrive.
