Sorry if this question has been answered a thousand times! But yes, I do really want to know where T was April 29th!!! Can you give more information on this story?

There are previous posts on it in 2016 timeline, song analysis' for I did something bad, and @tameimpala222's post on Calvin Harris' Ole.

Do you really want to know where I was April 29? 

This high infidelity line could be as much to fans as to Calvin. Like Dear Reader, it says to fans how some see Taylor in a narrow idealised way

OK, but what happened?

Set up:

Taylor and Calvin had been on pretty rocky ground. There has been rumours that he had been unfaithful, that Taylor was jealous of yachtgate and that Calvin was jealous of that jealousy.

Taylor won Album of the Year on 16 February and in Miss Americana said she felt alone and had no one she could call. (21 Minutes)

Harry and Kendall started the year with Yachtgate 6 January. Kendall was in Europe and didn’t go to Harry’s birthday party on the 21st and they arrived and left separately Jeff’s birthday 23 January so hendall was over then. They weren’t seen together for months apart from a pap walk that promoted KUWTK.

Harry was in LA at the same time. He wore this blue Hawaii st Laurent shirt on his 22nd birthday, also the day of the feeling 22 tweet which went viral. Taylor tumblr likes Holy Ground lyrics about falling apart. Taylor was in LA but not seen. 2 weeks later he wrote Sweet Creature which is a love song, but also references seeding doubt in a love interests' partners mind.

At this time, Calvin also started writing a diss track (Ole) about a guy (Harry) who ignores his GF (Kendall) for someone else (Taylor) who is a fake girlfriend to the subject (Calvin), the video shades Hendall and Haylor.

28 February - 29 April

Harry and Taylor then started hinting at hooking up, or wanting to. On 28 February Taylor looks stunning and alone at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Harry tweets Elvis lyrics about not being over an ex and posted a colour photo to instagram (it had been B&W since OOTW came out unless he saw Taylor).

Taylor and Calvin posted about the 1 year anniversary a week later and spent 3 days with backgrid in the Bahamas. Harry went back to London and looked grumpy getting a parking ticket that week. :/

But then it seemed back on 25 March when Taylor and Harry return to LA the same day 👀 and are seen around LA separately.

On the 3rd April Taylor and Calvin are hostile at the iHeartRadio awards, blinds they fought in the pap walk.

The end for Tayvin was at Coachella/Bleachella/TIWYCF when Calvin didn't give Taylor credit for This is What you Came for. A year later there was a blind item that TIWYCF was about who Taylor was having an affair with (in hindsight it’s really Haylor), to me this helps explain why it went so bad over it.

Harry again tweeted Cars lyrics about being with an ex that you love no matter what And then finally, as well known Taylor went to Gigi's birthday party on the 28th, and did not show up for promo for TIWYCF, neither Harry or Taylor are seen on the 29th.

The next Day Harry is still in LA in a walk of shame to a Gym and Calvin goes on Radio to say she isn't working.

Alas it didn't work out for either couple, Tayvin imploded. Harry went to Europe to shoot Dunkirk then record HS1 and Taylor was looking for someone to be with her all the time and publicly move on from the Tayvin disaster. You know the rest.

For bonus the promo Taylor was a no show was possible this interview with Calvin had Nick Grimshaw, AKA Harry's close friend and long term maker of lighthearted Haylor jokes, in Calvins house on April 29 2016!

What makes this and interesting comment on Taylors fans thinking they know everything is that it wasn't known.... Were it not for Ole and Kiwi's videos that is!

Later in 2016 Calvin released Ole that references outfits Taylor, Kendall and Harry all wore in this period and Calvin posted to instagram wearing Harry's exact shirt from February.

Harry recreated Taylors look from this party in the protagonist of the Kiwi music video, which refers to when Taylor said at 2015 Oscar’s she was “going home to the cats” and Calvin (prick) "When she's alone, she goes home to a cactus (Uh) In a black dress, she's such an actress"

And finally, for irony and lols:

On 29 April 2017 (the 1 year anniversary of this high infidelity) Harry got papped wearing the same shirt.

In September Capital FM used the photo Calvin's used to troll Harry and Taylor in an article calling him a 'baller'. Harry has a leaked song from this era, Super Pretty with the line "Said you're happier with that big baller that we both knew growing up"

And it still continues in when Harry's friend Roman Kemp presented Calvin with Harry Styles Bathwater at the 2024 Brits.

Joe Alwyn, the Bowery Gastropub & Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk "reshoots"

Joe was in LA for BLLHW reshoots and was with co-star Garrett Hedlund, who's friends with Caleb Followill who is married to Lily Aldridge who was at Gigi's party where we know Taylor was. There is a pub named the Bowery Gastropub on Sunset and Vine so of course Taylor met Joe there because 6 degrees of separation. It somehow makes sense that Tayvin continued and Hiddleswift happened and that she wrote in the lover journal that Toe started dating 3 months before January.

Issues with this story:

This story hinges on a screenshot from an office assistants LinkedIn claiming to have worked freelance on reshoots for the film for 2 months March and April 2016. If you search the words in the screenshot the Linkedin profile does say that. However if you look at profiles for editors, videographers and producers on the film they all ended mid-2015. Perhaps the freelance office assistant was working on a different film, or listed the wrong task.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk had no reshoots. They had no budget for them and shot specifically to avoid them. It was also not shot in LA.

Footage for the film had already been debuted on 16 April 2016. They were definitely not still shooting a low budget film 2 weeks later when it was being screened and was released in November

Joe was in London on 20 March 2016. There is no reason to think Joe was in LA.

Joe and Garrett Hedlund did attend the Met Gala - however as a C/B lister Garrett would not have a plus one, more likely he was Lily's plus one!

Caleb Followill, and his brother and bandmate Nathan Followill go way back with Harry - Nathan has a matching tattoo of the other half of Harry's broken heart tattoo! Harry (and Taylor) were at a Calab Followill's 2015 birthday party when they were last seen together. If the Followill connect/ Bowery gastropub is true at all, it was not a no-name friend of a friend who was in London! 😂 It was a BFF who was in LA and flirting with his ex-GF.

This mental gymnastics to fit Joe into a story that three artists have described is a good example of how swifties want to keep Taylor in a defined perfect box, which she wants out of. It reminds me of this quote she gave Rolling Stone in 2014, about the snowboarding accident and OOTW:

Oh agreed aha, I only want it to be true because afaik I was the first person who checked the Sunset x Vine intersection and found that gastropub. A few people were joking about them meeting at this seafood restaurant but obviously that’s not very plausible lol.

Also, I’m assuming that anon is referring to Clayd but I haven’t seen him say anything like that? Maybe I missed something a while back.

HOW THEY MEET

2016

The first time that they see each other as Gorgeous suggest was ‘The Bowery Gastropub’. Also this was the pseudonimun that Joe choose on Folklore. The lyrics from Gorgeouse goes: ”Whisky on ice, Sunset and Vine”. Taylor likes whisky as she sang in london boy “you know i love springsteen, faded blue jeans, Tennessee whisky”, and Sunset and Vine is the street that The Bowery is located in NY. So first meeting was oficially at The Bowery through mutual friends.

May 02, 2016: They met again at the MET Gala 2016.

Taylor mentioned in Gorgeous from Reputation album how she laugh about Joe’s accent in the moment that they meet.

“You should take it as a compliment That I got drunk and made fun of the way you talk”

Also she make references to the moment that they meet in London Boy song from Lover, and also again, reference to his accent.

“I heard him laughing I saw the dimples first and then I heard the accent”

All his friends were drunk that night that they meet how she related in Paper Rings from Lover album.

Taylor said in a Secret Session , that, the same night that they meet , she went home and start to search info about Joe.

So, if you search via Google Search, you can see that in May of 2016 the search was 100% about Joe in the Texas city. Coincidence?

She made a reference about this night too in “Dress”, the moment that she define as "Worst time, I don't know what I was thinking (About bleach her hair)"

They been friends for 3 months since they meet, but she realized about her feelings for Joe, as she related in her song "Dress".

June 01: Taylor rent Cornelia Street house, under Tribecca renovations.

Taylor made a cover from Earth, Wine and Fire from the song "September" for Spotify , and she made a huge change on lyrics, she change the line "Do you remember, 21st night of September?" for "Do you remember, 28st night of September?", that it's determinated the day that Taylor and Joe start dating in 2016.

In October 13, 2016, Taylor and Joe attend separetly at Kings Of Lion concert at Le Poisson Rouge lounge , after the concert they went to after party at the "The Bowery Hotel" in NY, later both meet up at a bar named Lovers of Today , this place will be the inspiration to Joe for used this as pseudonim to appear in Taylor's albums "Folklore" and "Evermore" credits respectively for the songs that they co-wrote together.

She hinted about spending christmas with Joe same year in her concert in Chicago, before she played her song "New Years Day", about jumper in an Icy pool at 2AM with him and his family,

Taylor wrote and mentioned this again in “Paper Rings”.

Joe reveal that this, is a thing that they do with family on New Years Eve.

In February 18, 2017  A fan tweets that saw someone in London with an American accent who looked like Taylor wearing a wig.

In May 16, 2017, media reported that they been dating for a while

In June 05, 2017, we get the first pics of them in Nashville.

In June 11, 2017 Joe arived at London in her private jet.

In July 24, 2017 They were seeing together leaving Taylor’s apartment trying to hide

In 2020 they attend for the very first time together at Golden Globes, even when they arrived alone, they sat same table and share so many moments, also they spend the after party together and they also left together.

In August 2020 they travelled to UTAH together, Joe post a pic of this and , it’s just an assumption but they are known for spend a lot of time together (Even quarentine that also, Taylor confirmed) so probably they went together.

In the song "Peace" from album "Folklore" from 2020, Taylor speaks about their relationships and the fact that she never gonna control nothing at her around, just her private life, she talks about never could give peace to Joe, but he is absolutely fine with that , has she revealed on interview to McCartney, "he is absolutely fine with that".

LEAKED PICTURE

In December 2020 a pic stolen from Taylor phone was reportly like leaked, some fans said that it's fake but, we need to confirm that it's real, this pic was taken in the Rep Era. A fan said that her screen lock was a pic with JOe kissing her in the cheek, we could see a blurry picture in her Rep magazine in the index , where Taylor is surrounded for thousands of pics. In the pic she was wearing a wig pink and blue, so basically it's the same wig.

2022

January 30, Taylor, Joe and Patrick are spotted having dinner at Dowling’s at The Carlyle in NYC

March 27, 2022 Taylor and Joe are spotted at the pre-Oscars party (x)

What is sunset and vine?

The corner of Sunset & Vine in LA has a bunch of restaurants (including a gastropub called The Bowery and it’s likely they met there because invisible string and all that from there to the hotel etc) and that’s where she says she met him in Gorgeous (which stacks because she was in LA and he was doing endless reshoots for Billy Lynn).

i think they met in LA but there’s also a restaurant called The Bowery in LA which is on the corner of sunset and vine. And then of course there’s The Bowery Hotel in NYC, yeah Joe stayed there during Billy Lynn promo and the Kings of Leon concert they went to had an after-party there

we really don’t know what exactly happened with joe, except they were friends before that summer. i do think taylor had feelings deeper for joe than she ever did for tom, the latter was obviously a fling, an easy escape and the two weren’t on the same page. but i dont think we should jump to conclusion like its confirmation “she cheated” or “there’s holes -> its fake” cause relationships can be messy and theres so many things we don’t know and we never will cause we dont personally know taylor

So I’ve been reading the 2016 timeline. And here’s what we know based on what Taylor has said at secret sessions and such:

They met at Bowery gastropub on sunset and vine here in Hollywood in April. They were friends. She had a boyfriend. She had a crush on him but it was just friends. She told a sessioner or two that she liked him enough to be a bit obnoxious but they were just friends.

Later they ran into each other again and it became romantic. She said it was like “boom!”. She also said that in the beginning of when they first started talking enbused to spaz our every time he texted.

Apparently she liked a post saying she didn’t cheat on anyone. And that it’s possible to be friends with someone in the beginning and have it turn romantic later.

But I will say that I do not judge her or anyone if there was some overlap. Shit like that just happens sometimes. If there was no overlap, then great! But if there was, that’s fine too!

You mentioned gorgeous was written before met gala. Could this be why? I saw many responses mentioning she had met him before that and had connections to gigs as well.

How did Joe get a ticket to the Met Gala

Firstly, Joe was already modelling, had been at fashion week and appeared in a few films, he was from a wealthy family, his father was also a filmmaker. He may have just bought his ticket and been approved by Anna Wintour as a model. In 2016 that was $35,000 USD. Kate Upton paid to attend for the same reason Joe would have - to build their profile.

Another possible scenario is that he was part of the Tom Ford table. At the end of the year he was working a lot with them and later became a brand ambassador.

I think any scenario where Taylor paid or he was a plus one of a C-lister co-star are bogus. Only A-listers get plus ones, who are vetted. Taylor (while she was still dating Calvin!) using Anna connections and paying for the ticket at that stage - then leaving with Tom Hiddleston, who she was at Anna Wintour's house with the night before the Met Gala is far fetched from a romance or PR POV.

Taylor & Joe in 2016

April – Based on the lyrics to Gorgeous, it’s speculated that Taylor and Joe first met on the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street, potentially at The Bowery gastropub.

At the time, Joe was in LA doing reshoots for Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.

They most likely met through mutual friends, as Taylor spent a lot of her time in LA that spring with Lily Aldridge, Lily is married to Caleb Followill, and Caleb is good friends with Garrett Hedlund, one of Joe’s Billy Lynn co-stars. (x)

The lyric 'flashback when you met me, your buzzcut and my hair bleached’ suggests they met sometime after the 15th, since that’s when she got her hair bleached. (x) 

May 2nd – Taylor and Joe both attend the 2016 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Since Taylor was a co-chair that year, she had to greet all the guests, so we know they definitely talked to each other that night.

According to another passenger on the plane, Taylor plays Scrabble during the flight (presumably on her phone because nobody takes big physical board games on commercial flights and the creepshot of Hiddleswift on the plane suggests she wouldn’t have had anywhere to put the board anyway). In hindsight, knowing how Taylor and Joe play lots of Scrabble together including online Scrabble aka Words With Friends, and how they stayed in touch largely via texting that summer, it’s very possible she was playing against Joe.

July 27th – Taylor and Tom go out to dinner in LA after returning from Australia, and this ends up being the last time they’re papped together. 

Afterwards, Tom goes back to continue filming Thor: Ragnarok while Taylor flies to Nashville, and then the Hamptons. (x)

(x) He then presumably goes back to Australia to continue filming. (This day is the last time Hiddleswift are in the same place before their breakup is announced on September 6th.)

August 31st – Joe replies to his drama school friend on Twitter, saying that he’ll see him soon. Since his friend was living in London at the time, this indicates that Joe isn’t in the UK, and is almost definitely in NYC for something Billy Lynn related.

Regardless of the exact date, Taylor later says at the rep sessions that they kept in touch after they first met in spring 2016, met up again later on and things turned romantic. (x)

Unlike on Franklin Street, the Cornelia Street house has a private garage which allows her to come and go without being papped the moment she steps out of her front door. This is why none of the NYC Taylor sightings around this time are on Cornelia Street, and instead all pap pictures are taken outside her gym, outside restaurants, or at the entrance to her Franklin Street apartment. This also explains how she is able to take Joe back to Cornelia Street without them being seen. The Cornelia Street floorplans additionally confirm that the master bedroom is on the third floor, which fits with, 'Third floor on the West Side, me and you,’ in verse 2 of Delicate.

Years later, David Aldea who owns the townhouse is interviewed by Inside Edition. He’s asked whether he ever met Joe whilst Taylor was staying there, and he says that “a gentleman never speaks of such matters.” 

(It’s similar to the saying ‘a gentleman never tells,’ which means guys should be respectful and never talk about their hookups in detail, so him saying that meant yes he did know they were seeing each other / hooking up, but didn't want to talk about it out of respect for Taylor)

It’s possible that this version was written about them meeting up on the dive bar night, and the boyfriend she hasn’t seen in a while is Tom – since they were most likely broken up but still publicly together.

September 17th – Taylor attends the Music City Wine and Food Festival in Nashville. (x)

On the same day, Taylor continues working on Gorgeous and she changes the lyric to “I got a boyfriend he’s older than us, he’s in the club doing I don’t know what.” 

It’s pretty likely that this line is now referring to Calvin, and the song has been reworked to be about Taylor and Joe meeting for the first time back in April.

September 19th – Taylor flies to Max Martin & Shellback’s studio in LA and finishes writing Gorgeous (x)

Taylor also works on the verses and pre-chorus of King of My Heart on the same day. (x)

It’s possible that this was the night the Cruel Summer bridge happened. (x) 

As far as we know, there’s three *significant* events that happened in summer-fall 2016 – the dive bar night, the cruel summer outburst and the conversation on the roof where they get serious and decide to run away to London.

Because the dive bar night was at the end of August and the roof conversation in November, ~he looks up grinning like a devil~ would’ve happened between those two events. Personally, I’m convinced it’s related to their anniversary, so it might’ve happened the night before and then they got exclusive the next morning.

The Lover prologue says Cruel Summer is about “confessions of love on a drunken night out.” (Further thoughts on this here and here)

Since Joe was papped leaving the Bowery Hotel in May, it's likely that he also stayed there for Billy Lynn promo / whenever he was in NYC all through spring-fall 2016.

Interestingly, the Waverly Inn is a 7 minute drive from the Bowery Hotel, so she could’ve easily gone to meet up with him after dinner.

Since it’s an old submission from their inbox that was found by searching the keyword ‘Bowery,’ there’s no way of knowing when it was first sent, or whether it’s actually reliable (but it’s fun to believe anyway).

On the other hand, we know Taylor was hanging out with Gigi during this time - maybe they went to the Bowery when they were out together on the 12th September, which would also fit with that being the first time the submitter saw Taylor at the bar there. The last paragraph also reminds me of So It Goes… ('come here dressed in black now’) although that doesn’t really prove anything since the song came out long before this submission was written.

October 12th – Taylor and Joe attend a private Kings of Leon concert together at Le Poisson Rouge lounge in the West Village. 

Afterwards, they go to an afterparty held at the Bowery Hotel and meet up at a bar named Lovers of Today. (x) (x)

October 22nd – Taylor performs with a cold at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. (x) Joe had a cold the week after when he was doing interviews in Taiwan.

October 23rd – Taylor attends Drake’s 30th birthday party. Several media outlets theorise about a possible relationship between them but the rumours are denied straight away. (x) (x)

October 28th – In the evening, Taylor flies from LA to NYC, and then from NYC to London. However, she stays completely under the radar and isn’t spotted anywhere in London. October 31st – Taylor returns to NYC from London. She dresses up as Deadpool for Halloween and throws a party that Kennedy Rayé, Lily Donaldson, Gigi, Camila Cabello and Martha all attend. 

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Camila is asked about the cat lady costume she wore to the party. (x)

“So then these two, like, attractive guys come in, and so I just went to the bathroom and I had this black turtleneck and pants under, and I just like, took [the costume] off. Then I came back, and I was like, it was really hot.”

The next day, her jet flies to London and back. It’s pretty likely that this was to drop Joe (and his friend) back to the UK, so he’d be able to fly to Taiwan and China for Billy Lynn promo.

November 11th – Taylor, Andrea, Claire Winter, Eliotte, Alana Haim and Este Haim go to the Arclight Theatre in LA to see Joe’s movie Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk. (x)

November 19th – This polaroid of Taylor and her guitar, captioned “How would you feel having a song about you?” was taken in Nashville. 

It's later included in one of the reputation magazines and credited to Frosty Crew Photography, aka Joe.

November 20–22nd – It’s possible that Taylor and her mom’s side of the family were in Puerto Rico. Since she was only there for 2 days and we know Joe was with her on the 19th, it’s pretty likely he was there too, and the trip was for him to meet her extended family.

November 23rd – Taylor is spotted walking around in NYC with Kelsea Ballerini, the last time Taylor is seen for nearly 8 weeks (x)

It’s pretty likely that this video of her driving in the UK was taken around this time, judging by her hair and the fact that she’s on the left side on the road.

December 13th – Joe gets Taylor a silver J necklace from Tiffany & Co for her 27th birthday (x)

Taylor’s birthday cake is from The Hummingbird Bakery in London, known for making “authentic American cakes and desserts.” (x)

December 29th– A polaroid of Taylor later included in the rep magazines was taken on this day. Fans later identify that it was taken in a rental house located in Hampstead, London. (x) (x)

The william Bowery thing is so annoying to me cause like i had only been a fan through lover era so it was really exciting to get a new album so soon. When WB first was discovered I was like “Oh it’s Joe that’s so adorable” and then more people were like that’s so stupid it’s Austin/harry/herself and all these things are stupid cause 1.Why not credit your bro 2. they dated 7 years ago and they could get good pr from it 3. Having 2 more self written songs would be a flex.

Yeah I mean when WB was announced everyone basically knew it was Joe right because who else would use a pseudonym while quarantining with her? And like the William Alwyn thing was known within fucking hours, and we’d all known about the Bowery Hotel for their story (or like as @youareinlovees has speculated Bowery Gastropub on Sunset & Vine but I think it might be both and just a fun invisible string word for them like maybe there are more than 2 occurrences of it for them) which would’ve been a HECK of a coincidence.
