Hello, I found you blog this morning after what you said about Harry and Stevie. I love their relationship, and Harry seems to have a lot of support from legends in music, like Paul McCartney was the first person to interview him solo, and I just think that's so cool. I just checked out your "nat talks harry" tag. You can ignore this because it's a topic from 2 years ago. I'm just really interested in Harry's songwriting because he doesn't talk a lot about it. I think he might have a bit of imposter syndrome, especially when it comes to writing. He doesn't give himself enough credit, and casual fans might not be aware of everything his collaborators have said. Annoyingly, Harry doesn't take production credit even though he would be well within his right to take significant credit because if you listen to Harry, you would think he does hardly anything, but listening to his collaborators, they are saying Harry is really producing and he his telling them every note to make. Then you have the songwriting credits which he seems to be very generous with even Tobias Jesso Jr. saying he was completely shocked by the credit because section he contributed is barely on the song because Harry changed it. That being said for people to start giving him credit he needs to put lyrics at the forefront because, although I don't think this way, people think songwriting=lyrics (like the other day I saw two Swifties who I would consider to be pretty intelligent say Aaron Dessner isn't a good songwriter because the lyrics for the national aren't like Taylor’s). So Harry needs to start listening to the songwriters he has worked with him telling him he is an excellent composer and start believing it, and also he needs to stop being so generous with the credit because although they are very minimal to start with people like to inflate the number, saying he has a team of 4, 5, 6 and some even saying 10 people on every song when he actually has 2 like Taylor. Sorry this sounds like a huge Harry stan rant hyping him up for something not there, but Harry Styles as a songwriter is so interesting because it seems like people within the songwriting space are of the opinion that Harry is a great songwriter and really talented, but critics seem to think he sits in the studio and says “write something that sounds like this song”.
I think he absolutely does have bad imposter syndrome and I do think he needs to believe in his songwriting a bit more and take more credit for the production/even the level of engagement he takes in terms of curating collaborators. I said a few days ago that Bey never writes solo and has HUGE teams of collaborators and Swifties for example often use that to shit on Bey but (I’m a big Bey fan) I think what people don’t understand is she changes those collaborators depending on her vision for the album/era (which she very much curates herself). Getting in people who can help you put together what you’ve imagined doesn’t make you less talented, it just means you recognize that this person has something valuable to contribute to what you’re trying to make. She also (and Harry sometimes and I can see him doing it more) finds people who are very much not mainstream and includes them in the process because she likes their stuff and it’s a HUGE opportunity for them but also useful to her because she gets in people who… can help create and execute her vision. That’s also a skill. Harry is good at his job. Aaron D is great at his job and lmao @ Swifties saying he’s not a good songwriter when we KNOW he wrote most of Tay’s folkmore tracks himself and she added in lyrics like they worked together? Her lyrics wouldn’t work without his tracks and fwiw his tracks inspired her lyrics? Bizarre attack on him tbh but Swifties often behave in bizarre ways and say bizarre things lmao.

Girl you mean to tell me an artist whose career defining issue is artists rights and crediting creative professionals involved in making art... credited someone for making art? Wild.
It's weird to be that Taylor wrote exile and Betty with Joe but then wrote dorthea/Ivy alone. I mean if you don't know the back story of Betty and exile and listen to it there's literally no straight explanation for it. The same thing can easily apply to both dorthea and Ivy but as far as I know Taylor got bold and wrote them alone. It just doesn't make sense that she fully wrote arguably the gayest song ever in HYGTG (I get it's supposed to be about Harry but still) and didn't feel the need to have a male co-writer. Same with Wonderland which switched around Hetlors sometimes because the evidence is too much to avoid. Idk her thought process is weird as hell.
maybe she said he wrote on the songs because he actually did write on the songs

Joe has now done more interviews about folklore than Taylor
Well because Joe has done a full on press circuit because he is at a stage of his career where he needs to put out lol and he needs to talk about like… his Grammy lmfao, like he can’t just pretend it didn’t happen (and he hasn’t even though some of you were manifesting for that).

I actually think that’s one of the worst descriptions of him lol because to me he’s such an open book lol.//
I don’t think that’s what she means with that lyric. I interpret it as her saying the more she gets to know him the less she knows what she’s going to do in the sense that him entering her life kinda wrecked her plans yk? Cause then she literally follows it up with “wreck my plans”. So she’s not saying she knows him less every time he speaks but that she’s less sure of herself. Also fits with him teaching her politics etc. Speaks to how getting to know a new person can shift your perspective on shit simply by them approaching things differently
Ohhh I like that.

‘I’d probably had a drink and was just stumbling around the house. We couldn’t decide on a film to watch that night, and she was like, ‘Do you want to try and finish writing that song you were singing earlier?’ And so we got a guitar and did that.’
This is soooo adorable! I'm a sucker for domesticity!! i'm gonna barf!!!
It’s so cute lol but also they’re both such melancholy drunks lol she wrote TDDS drunk and he was in his Betty mood drunk 💀💀💀💀

They kept his participation in Folklore and its follow-up Evermore (two co-writing credits on the former, three on the latter) a secret because they knew it was all people would talk about. “The idea was that people would just listen to the music rather than focus on the fact that we wrote it together.” While he has no plans to write more music, he cherished the experience. “It was fun to do it together, and I was proud of it. It was nice getting such a positive reception.” Is there a version of “Exile” out there with him singing on it? “Jesus, there’s probably a voice note somewhere that should be burned.”
he sounds so proud my baby 🥺
This is so cute and fuck I actually want to go read anti takes on THIS one. What more must he say beyond “I’m so proud” lmfaooo?

I still can't get over peace 😭 that song is SO raw and sincere. It's such a complete declaration of love like damn. I would've sobbed so hard if that had been written about me. I'll be real, my sister and her husband are very cute and very much in love but I'm pretty sure they don't love each other THAT much, they love each other more than my parents love each other but not as much as Taylor seems to love Joe tbh
That song is HECTIC.
The first time I heard it I was SHOOKETH dudes like I was like “man the lady is WHIPPED” lol.

You know it actually does make me laugh when people say toe can’t be real because of folklore and evermore. Let’s stop acting like she has to be happy because she’s in a healthy relationship. She went through shit. She even said it on hoax. No other sadness in the world would do. Meaning she wants to be with Joe in the good AND bad times. If he’s sad, she will be sad with him. If she’s sad, he’s going to be there for her.
Love isn’t black and white omg 😭 she even said that
I mean this is the problem right like acting like “oh but if she’s admitting to problems then she can’t be with Joe” like what kind of a take is that lmao?
In 2020 here is a non exhaustive list of shit she was upset about: her mom had cancer, there was a pandemic and people were dying and she was in quarantine, her childhood best friend got divorced, another good friend was also getting divorced, a close friend of Joe’s broke up with his longterm girlfriend, her masters had been stolen by Scooter Braun and she had to re-record her entire life’s work, her tour was cancelled and she couldn’t play shows she was looking forward to including Glasto which she was very amped for, friends had various health issues (Lena especially), she found out Karlie had been involved in Masters drama, the political situation was stressful leading up to the elections etc.
She also obviously does experience problems in her romantic relationship because they’re real people tbh.
I just like… don’t get reducing her to her pussy and then thinking you’re like a legit fan like no she doesn’t write music with her cunt.

How do you explain the glass closet in willow
Babe I don’t think it’s a “glass closet”. I think it’s a pretty clear metaphor around her fame that says she steps onto the stage to perform and is happy there because she has her music but then gets stuck and boxed in with everyone watching her entertain them and she can’t get out again and the love interest is outside that and she has to like leave that fishbowl life in order to be with him. It’s about how constricting fame is and how like she pursued it for the music but it ended up being suffocating. This is a theme she’s repeatedly explored in her music like since RED tbh with The Lucky One and Nothing New.
I don’t see how stepping out to perform and getting stuck in a lonely kinda observed existence and seeing the man you love outside that is in any way a commentary on sexuality especially within the context of her discography which CONSTANTLY deals with themes of fame.
Like I’m all for creative takes on media but this seems really straightforward within her discography and biography and the plot of the video.

I wonder if it bothers Taylor that Folklore had the success that she wanted Reputation and Lover to have, aka winning the Grammy she obviously wanted.
I mean I think she wants the Grammy every time lol but I don’t think she is like “bothered” that Folklore did better critically than the other ones. She was and is extremely proud of Folklore 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

is muse a female exclusive word? english is not my first language and I saw on twitter that the lakes couldn't be about joe because she uses muse in it and that word's only used when referring to women// saying a man cannot be a muse is deeply rooted in gender roles, because for them only women can be pretty little muses and the artists that describe them are mostly men, so i actually love that taylor says that SHE is the fucking artist and this pretty boy is her muse and shed not run away without him
EXACTLY IT’S SO FUN
She’s like “I’ll bring you along when I go make art” and very few women have been able to do that.

Now that I think of it, it's extremely ironic that when I'm feeling anxious/depressed about these issues I listen to (amongst other things like classical music) folklore and evermore💀//
HELP me too💀💀 folkmore brings me so much peace and calm and reminds me of the beauty of nature lmfao the irony
"Take me to the lakes where all the poets when to die, those Windemere peaks look like a perfect place to cry" while the whole world burns and drowns I guess

Wait do you prefer folklore over evermore? Not judging bc I do to but I had a feeling you preferred evermore.
I personally prefer evermore but I think folklore is the better album objectively speaking because evermore has a lot of random songs and folklore is conceptually and sonically tight as fuck.

Anon is missing the point about Peace. First, Joe will never fully reclaim peace in his life with or without Taylor at this point. Also, isn't the whole song about making a case for what all else she will do for him? Don’t you get the point…she wants to be with him even if she’s not the perfect partner and she hopes those other things make up for it?
Well yeah. Joe will never get peace lmao like that ship sailed, she wouldn’t be able to promise that to the next one if they did break up, and she’s saying “despite the challenges that come with being with me, I do my best for you and adore you” 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dove is one of Betty’s “stupid” friends telling her to dump James but her ass goes and kisses him on the porch
I’m telling you idk about this lesbian anthem Betty but the gay teenage girl experience imo is being Betty’s stupid friend. Like YOUR dumb ass sat with her while she cried and like you cuddled her and felt weird about it while she bitched about him and like you know you’d do a better job but then that boy shows up on his skateboard like “BETTY I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU!” and in your head you’re like “shut up James you so absolutely can you didn’t even think about her all summer while balls deep in Augustine” and then she’s running out to kiss him and you’re like 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
