Wearing a bow tie is a way of broadcasting an aggressive lack of concern for what other people think.
- Warren St. John
Interesting to consider that the bow tie, once most conservative of accoutrements, is now (if it wasn’t always) the sartorial equivalent of a mohawk. Men who wear bow ties may seem a little quirky or even nerdy. Bow ties after all, do look a bit boyish.
The redeeming message that the bow tie relays is that men who wear them, frankly, don’t give a damn about what you think.
As contrarians with an angle (as they are usually ‘careful’ contrarians), those who prefer bow ties carry with them a certain intrigue. If such a man attends a gathering, chances are that each person in the room will observe him to some degree to try to understand who he is and what it is about him that makes him different from others.
If we dare to generalise the personality of the bow tie wearer, we would say that there exists a strange dichotomy in the mind of such a man, as he typically comes across as slightly shy, but in wearing a bow tie, he expresses a formidable boldness.
Contrary to popular opinion you don’t even have to have been a famous architect or a fusty old Oxbridge professor to wear one. It’s time to bring back the bow tie. Not the pre-tied versions. If a man can wear a bow tie, he’s man enough to tie it too. You’re not a toddler anymore. A pre-tied bow tie is as childish as Velcro on your shoes.
Real bow ties are cool.

I am in a wedding in October and we're starting to prepare our fits for the day. I get to wear a bow tie (groomsmen are in ties, bridesfae are in bow ties) and I was wondering if anyone had brands they loved or small businesses to support.
it's one of my best friends weddings and the color palette is one I wear regularly anyway (literally, will probably be using the pants I wear to work most weeks) so I'm willing to put some good money into it for a quality piece! I'm looking for sage green and possibly a little floral, if that helps

“I can’t seem to find my collection of bow ties.”
“I’m pretty sure Alvin has “borrowed” them.”
“I don’t know whether to confront him on it, or just take delight in the fact that he’s now the type of person to un-ironically wear a bow tie.” 😂

Thoughts on bow ties?
In the words of Dr. Who, bow ties are cool. In 2023, though, only with a tuxedo. Follow Tom Ford’s lead for guidance on pulling it off.
