I love your rejanis prompts 🥹 the Leighton/alicia one made me crave bitchy regina lol
Can you do one where they’re at a college party and some frat bro hits on her and she goes off on them, but then some girl on the (your sport of choice) team hits on Regina and she is all baby gay and clueless until Janis points it out to her?
Sometimes Janis wonders if there is anyone who actually enjoys parties, aside from the perpetually inebriated frat bros and jocks who wouldn't know culture if it snapped their lacrosse sticks in half.
But Regina insists on dragging Janis to these dumb parties that she says she has to attend to, like, represent her sorority or something. As if any school-sanctioned organization looks favorably upon rampant underage drinking and likely about ten different fire code violations.
Someday, Janis promises herself, she'll learn to resist Regina's pouting lips and pleading eyes.
Someday.
Janis is following Regina through the house, the air hot with the number of people crammed inside, when a guy in a backwards baseball cap steps in front of Regina, blocking her passage.
"Hey," the guy says, smirking in a way that he likely imagines is charming. "What is your name?"
"Don't worry about it." Regina tries to move past him. but he moves in front of her again.
"Hey, come on," Baseball Cap says. "I'd tell you you're beautiful but beauty comes from the inside, and I haven't been there yet."
Janis gags audibly, and the guy gives her a dirty look. It takes everything Janis has not to pull Regina into a kiss and stuck her tongue down her throat right in from of this guy.
"And you look like you can be bought in bulk," Regina snaps. "Seriously, I've seen at least ten of you tonight. Leave me alone."
Janis bites her lip to keep from jumping in. Regina hates it when Janis fights her battles for her. As if Janis could ever do that.
The smirk on the guy's face morphs into a sour expression. "Whatever, bitch."
Janis bites her lip harder.
"Nice to meet you, too," Regina says, shoulder-checking him as she passes him. Janis does the same, for good measure.
"Are you okay?" Janis murmurs to Regina, as quietly as she can while still being heard.
Regina raises an eyebrow and jerks her thumb over her shoulder. "What, because of him? I'm fine. I need another drink, though."
"Alright," Janis says. She trails after Regina to the kitchen, where every conceivable variety and brand of alcohol litters the counters.
Regina grabs two cups and starts mixing, and Janis lets her—whereas Regina is so picky with her drinks, Janis will drink anything so long as it isn't contaminated.
A tall, lithe girl with long, wavy, dark hair wearing a shirt so skimpy Janis isn't entirely sure it isn't underwear presses against the counter next to Regina, reaching for a bottle of strawberry vodka. Her skin is the kind of tan that comes from actually spending time outside. She's hot, and Janis has to admit that her younger self would feverishly stalk this girl's Instagram at three in the morning.
Wait. She has stalked this girl's Instagram. She's on the basketball team, the only school sport Janis attends. She's dragged Regina to games, but Janis isn't sure Regina ever looked at anything other than her phone.
"'Scuse me," the girl says, straightening up once she has the bottle in her hand.
Regina looks at her, but her slightly annoyed expression evaporates and she just... stares. "Fine," she says, not even getting out a full sentence.
The girl sets the bottle down on the counter and looks Regina up and down with a confidence Janis has only seen in... Regina.
"Hey," she says, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "Have we met?"
"No," Regina says. She's still holding the bottle of cranberry juice.
The girl smiles and briefly touches Regina's arm. "Well, it's my lucky night, then. I'm Haley."
"Regina," Regina says, finally having the sense to put the juice down.
"Nice to meet you, Regina," Haley purrs, eyes flicking down Regina's body briefly.
Janis crosses her arms. She's right fucking here, watching her girlfriend get openly hit on, and what is Regina doing?
Staring dumbly at this random girl like she's encountering other humans for the first time.
Someone shouts Haley's name across the room, and she turns to look at a couple of girls waving her over.
"I gotta go, but I hope to see you on the dance floor later, cutie," Haley says with a wink before excusing herself.
"Okay," is all Regina says.
"Um, hello?" Janis waves at Regina. "Remember me?"
Regina frowns. "What?"
"If some girl came up and hit on me in front of you, you'd be pissed," Janis says, raising her eyebrows. Regina's practically mounted her in a bar after a girl danced a little too close to Janis once.
"Huh? She was not hitting on me," Regina denies.
Janis's mouth falls open. "She was so hitting on you. Like, big-time."
Regina's frown deepens. "Are you serious? She was just being nice."
Janis throws her hands up. "How can you not tell?"
Regina looks at the doorway Haley left through uncertainly, biting her lip.
"Think of it this way," Janis says. "If she said all that to me, would you just be chill about it?"
Regina's eyes widen a little. "I... guess not. Sorry."
"She was hot, though, so I get it," Janis says. "Even if it was kind of rude that you just let her flirt with you right in front of me."
There is something almost comical about a girl flirting with Regina so brazenly, when Janis had to coax Regina out of the closet inch by inch, peeling back layers until she finally got to the soft, vulnerable, real Regina at the core.
"Would it make you feel better if I let you make out with me in front of that dickish frat guy?" Regina asks.
Janis shudders. "I fear he'd enjoy that too much."
Regina's nose wrinkles. "I think you're right."
"I'd be happy to make out with you in an alternate location, though," Janis says.
Regina smirks. "I know just the place."

Curly and Ponys first Christmas living together where both of them are confused when Christmas decorations don't magically appear because somebody else always does it
ohhhh these two,,,,luv em!!! thank u for the ask!!!
•ik they bought those decorations late as hell, they kept putting it off cause they were too lazy, and even uf they DID get it, theyd b too lazy to put ALL of them up, their gang/family usually helped w it but now its just the two of em, only 1/2 of those decorations r actually gonna b used
•if u think these two r arguing over what vibe of christmas they want and u feel like pony is into a christmas where its one solid color, ur on THIN ice bc they BOTH would rather a colorful christmas and cant understand y anyone would go for that boring outlook on christmas,,,im watching u,,,
•however we can compromise!!! pony argues just going for the regular red and green while curlys arguing for just different colors PLUS the red and green, they both r too stubborn and now their christmas looks like a paintball gun shot up the place
•their tree was so pathetic, its in an awkward spot in the living room, its so small and kept tipping over so they gave up on it and its just kinda leaning on the wall and stacked up by ponys college books😭😭
•they prolly coulda picked a better tree too, its not like that was the only one left, they were just in a sour mood cause it was cold as shit and wanted to go back home so they picked the first one they saw n dipped, say ts the next morning n just sighed😭
•curlys homesickness shows rarely, and this is one of those times bc angela would joke about putting herself on top of a christmas tree cause she was an “angel”, but they never ever got one, so he took a pic of angela he had and put it on top, hes never admitting he misses that demon tho🙄🙄
•SOMEONE (curly) put the mistletoe above the headboard of their bed thinking they were soooooo slick
•YESSS i will forver bring up haitian fanals i love them theyre so pretty, curly and pony tried making em but they looked so wonky, if u hc them living in an apartment, they couldnt hang them up bc they hand nowhere TO do it so its just chilling on a counter, but they still do light em up!!!
•the lights were so tangled up in the box somehow they genuinely just gave up and threw them up on the wall and said “we’ll get to it later” (they wouldnt)
•if u want them living in a shitty one bedroom, let it b known that they love going around the block seeing the other neighbors decorations and some of them light their houses UP, ik their light bill high as hell and when they didnt have their decorations up they could just feel those houses,,,teasing them,,,,
•ponys sent darry pics of the whole set up and darry could detect about 6 fire code violations, he sighed and showed tim and they accepted what theyve done letting those two move in together, to make the grieving process easier
•kinda unrelated but ikkkk they dont play about frank sinatra and maria careys christmas songs

Tell us the “sob story” 8O
lol im gonna put this under a cut so its not massive, but here u go, sob story!
so i think i mentioned that my former apartment got lit on fire, so i had to move to a new place because i was too fuckin scared to live in that place anymore. upside, the guy who blew up my furnace got fired, so W
lived in apartment 2 for a while, it was pretty good, but extremely lonely! i had no local friends At All and like, exactly 1 online friend, so i was wallowing in a sea of loneliness for like, a solid year and a half living there. woe is me, whatever. eventually decided fuck this place, i wanna move back to new york-- i went to uni there, i was born there, i loved it there so i wanted to go back. bought a house, WHEEE-- THAT was a hell of a nightmare, house had code violations, contract was a mess, it was a whole stressful thing. but we got it settled. i have a house now! so that's cool!
but it's also not! because i had a friend/situationship i guess? in new york and i invited them to live with me bc they needed somewhere to live, i'd feel more comfortable having a roommate bc im still afraid to cook and use heat or anything, it was a win win. we went on a few dates back in like, 2020, and i was like, we'll see where things go romantically! without really any expectations of whether we'd get together or not, since ive changed a LOT since 2020 and i really didnt know them all that well. but hey, potential partner! we'll call them jill.
wrench got thrown in THAT when i met a guy, oops! started modding for a pretty big youtuber who's also become one of my best friends, and met a wonderful guy. we very much fell for each other and are now dating. we'll call him levi. told jill hey, i met someone, so suna x jill isnt gonna happen. that didnt go well! jill was apparently much more under the impression that we were gonna date than i was, and was/is very heartbroken about it. whoops! so now i live with someone who is currently still in love with me, while dating someone else! yikes!
which would be fine if there wasnt also a shitload of drama about jill cleaning up their stuff! they've been here for almost 5 months and ive had to ask them dozens of times to please get their huge piles of stuff out of the middle of the floor bc i needed paths for the movers to get their stuff in, i need to unpack my own stuff, etc. they got so upset about me asking them to do this (bear in mind, literally the entire living room was full of stuff FLOOR TO CEILING, and i've given them plenty of warning on dates i was coming to renovate/paint/when my move-in date was) that they threatened to move out and i was like? ok? then move out LMAO. also their cat injured one of my cats and ripped a hole in his ear!
so yes, a lot of unnecessary stress and drama on top of already dealing with all the shit involved with interstate moving, new finances, job changes, relationship changes, all that. the upside being, im very very very happy with levi, im starting to feel settled in my new house, things at my job have calmed down, and things are overall pretty okay. im aware that im extremely privileged to be able to own a house (granted, in an area with a very low cost of living-- the house was like 150k which is actually a semi-sane house price, compared to my friends with 700k homes and stuff LOL) and that my problems arent really all that bad, but topped with the dystopian state of the world right now and the existential dread ive had for months because of it, its just Not been a good time in the suna world. but its ok. things are calming, im making the best of it, and we'll see how things go from here!
#suna speaks#more like suna fuckin YAPS my GOD#ask#its crazy to be in such a healthy relationship#levi is my trans king and i love him so wholeheartedly#and having a house i can paint is pretty sick#ive lived in apartments for so long that i went WILD with colors#its a whimsigoth paradise up in here

OneNETnews Investigates: A Young Pinay Teenager nab almost PHP3M worth of K-Pop Merch facing Degenerative Hate and colossal Cyberbullying on Social Media
QUEZON, MANILA -- A suspected Pinay teen from Cubao, Quezon City, Manila after she illegally demands PHP2.7M (U$D49,335.34), in exchange for buying collection & merchandise, with a best and biggest names of Korean Pop (excluding Pinoy Pop or P-Pop for SB19, BGYO, HORI7ON, LAPILUS, etc.).
During a news magazine programme of "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" aired last Sunday night (March 5th, 2023 -- Manila local time), a Senior High School student named "Bea" (not the actual real name) said, they believe to stole money from her grandmother to secretly buy K-Pop albums and photo cards online.
According to an exclusive report of GMA News, Bea's grandmother Agnes tried to help her with her money allowance for purchasing something in connection for K-Pop, but her family is at serious risk due to low income and can be found in the Cubao market.
Bea's allowance cost PHP450 (U$D8.23) a day or PHP13,500 (U$D246.84) per month. Because of a popular demand, she is planning to buy K-Pop merch and memorabilia online with a disclosed e-wallet payment methods. Not only that, she bought a VIP ticket worth PHP13,250 (U$D242.27) to ENHYPEN's concert last February 3rd to 5th, 2023 during "Manifesto" concert tour at the ShoeMart Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Manila. Before that... She was the only 5th Grader with a consistent graduation because classmates and friends refers to a music scene and culture under the school subject of Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH).
Anne Savisa Boonchuy, former Disney XD News Intern and herpetologist for The Aquatic of the Pacific, who is also an avid Thai fan of K-Pop dives with us on our investigative news team for OneNETnews.

Dr. Camille Garcia, psychologist at the Garcia General Hospital (GGH) in Marikina told GMA News that her symptoms of K-Pop merchs and collection puts her at risk for an Impulse Control Disorder (ICD).
Bea's family tries to get back some of the money by selling some of the items online via mobile broadcasting, but its sadly cut short to 0.51% out of PHP2.7M.
The communities of K-Pop are in toxic beast mode of cyberbullying attack, with a dark side of harassment, massive profanations and excessive trolls, in violation of the Republic Act #10627 or the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013, Article #353 or The Revised Penal Code (known as the Cyber Libel) and The 1987 Philippine Constitution: Article 3 - Section 4. Despite a controversial prime time episode aside to ignoring toxicity, offensive & political comments on social media against Bea and her family, television viewers and streaming online are in hatred peril for a mass boycott and dislikes of KMJS.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2a53e2e576cfc6c88b91887a93629d18/fcfcbe7d5455d034-53/s540x810/1b1524eb3dd424de9572943415f9e5c95b8a950c.jpg)
Few days ago from last Tuesday (March 7, 2023), Boonchuy obtained the exclusive statement via Facebook post as Jessica Aspiras Soho defending viewers on DZBB-TV's GMA 7: Manila with a bite-sized and rough translation in Tagalog dialect: "It has now emerged that someone claimed to have stolen K-Pop merchandise from MRT-Cubao (Metro Rail Transit), but local police and the station say no one has reported anything. The 'Bea' family, who have been featured on KMJS for stealing millions to buy K-Pop stuff are asking for their privacy. KMJS condemns trolling and bullying of its employees and made this story in total caution, nor offend".
In the pursuant of House Bill #129: Section 4 or "The Online and Social Media Membership Accountability Act", signed by Negros Oriental Representative named Arnolfo "Arnie" Alipit Teves Jr., illegal activities of cyberbullying in any kind against "Bea" and her family if possibly proven guilty on all social media platforms online, most of the Philippine laws are subject for fines, community service in jail or probably both. OneNETnews and Disney XD News cannot independently determine on its said sentence or charges in a nearest regional trial court.
The international showcase of K-Pop collection and merchandise are in big trouble like "Bea", which was soon becomes a trauma star without any public apology in anti-socialism and leads to be a worldwide online protest from bashers, brazenly negative haters, political degenerates and the consequences of social media.
As of this writing, there is no actual remedy to address the issue aside the Korean Pop collection and merch. The management and staff of KMJS will soon terminate its televised programme and a broadcast contract of GMA 7: Manila if the ratings continue to hit a new low.

Things I want to remember about Lori
Among many memories:
When we were in 8th grade, we somehow got the inspiration to try out to be 8th grade commencement speakers. We had no business trying out for this - we didn't really like anyone and we didn't particularly have much school pride. But there must have been this inherent drive to make our mark at the school; maybe it was our way to do something together at school for the last time. I distinctly remember we AIM-ed a friend of mine for some inspiration, and he said to say something along the lines of how middle school is the "stepping stone" to the rest of our futures. We definitely put that in the speech and definitely didn't get chosen.
In 7th grade, I met Lori. I'm sure we met in 6th grade, too, but we didn't get close until 7th. She always brought these little tic-tacs to school that were individually wrapped. The tic-tacs looked more like Advil shaped and on contact with the tongue, tasted like marshmallows before mint. She always brought me one or two. She'd fiddle with the wrapper in her hoody front pocket, and by the end of the day, her fingers were metallic. I'm going to buy a bunch of those tic-tacs if I ever see them in the future.
In 8th grade, a group of us got to go to Catalina Island on a trip to learn about marine biology or something. I honestly don't remember much about the trip anymore other than learning about echolocation by crawling through a pitch dark tunnel and eating little bits of cooked squid. But the funniest thing I remember is that Lori and I decided that we would not take showers after snorkeling in the afternoon, because we'd go back in the water the following day. The following day, the showers were out of service, so Lori and I returned home with unwashed ocean hair (compounded over 3 days). My mom was not pleased.
Lori and I went to different high schools, but we still made it a point to see each other throughout the year. Definitely every summer and every winter. Our catch-up sessions always lasted for hours, and our favorite places to meet were Catalina Coffee and Coffee Cartel. She was such an amazing listener, and I always felt so heard and seen. I think we trusted each other at a young age.
When we were grown adults, Lori came to visit me in Berkeley when she was living in Napa. We went to an Allen Stone concert and decided to go out to Raven, which was the hottest club in SF at the time. At Raven, we ran into Lori's Coffee Meets Bagel date from earlier in the day, lol. He bought us drinks but Lori was definitely not very interested. To be honest, I don't have many memories of Lori from the actual club, but when Raven closed for the night, we somehow got ourselves out and called an UBER POOL (to save money). Lori sat in the back with two strangers, and I sat in the front. Once we got to my apartment, Lori was so knocked out, I had to lift her out of the car. I was not quite stable myself so we teeter-tottered a bit in front of said strangers and fell in unison onto the ground. It was so embarrassing, and we got scratched and bruised, lol. The funniest part of this continuous story is that the next morning, I woke up to Lori sleeping on the floor. When I stepped on the ground, I felt that it was damp and authentically thought that Lori peed on the ground in her sleep. Later, we found out that Strawberry Creek ran below the apartment building and it literally seeped up into my room, which is wild and a total housing code violation that we probably could have gotten rent abatement for.
Later into our adulthood, Lori and I got to fulfill our teenage dreams and became roommates in a dingy Berkeley apartment. She told me one day that she was considering adopting a dog and that if she did, she would write off dating for the foreseeable future. She was truly a woman of her word. She adopted Daisy, a spunky yorkie mix, and we co-pawrented her. She was an annoying (but cute) dog, and my blood pressure used to rise whenever she would bark without reason at just about anything. I will love Daisy in perpetuity though, because she will always be something Lori and I shared.
The image I remember of Lori - petite as ever, hair color of the month (pink or blonde balayage or black), skinny jeans, t-shirt (for some reason I imagine a striped shirt), cardigan, scarf, little backpack, and flats. Or shorts with leggings and flats. Bitten nails, aside from maybe one or two longer nails. And a hint of mustard yellow, of course.
Lori was generally a pretty quiet person but when she thought something was funny, she'd have a little explosive burst of laughter. And on the topic of her quietness, she was by no means a pushover. She had immensely strong personal convictions/integrity and drive (and stubborn).
Lori always sent cards - for the holidays, birthdays, big moments. Her message was always short and concise, but she never missed one. She also always sent a little something for Abbie.
She always called kids, kiddos, and called dogs, puppers.
I miss her so much already. Lori was kind of a time capsule for me -- a witness to the most insecure and awkward years as teens. The safest place to be in friendship. A vault of a confidant. Lori may have been the one who taught me loyalty and reciprocity in friendship. She could not stand to owe anyone a single dollar, even though there were moments I just wanted to shower her with love. I wish I did more for her. It really is true that when you lose someone, you think about the things you could have done while they were alive with you. I will miss you forever, Lori. Thank you for being one of the best friends I could have ever asked for.

Living his new life with his wife in the Modern "stepford wives" community was such a change from before. You see in this community every must be completely done up before the exit the house. It was written in the HOA with heavy fines and even corporal punishment if you failed any of the HOA rules. Not only did the HOA board have control on the look of the front of your house and yard but this one even controlled dress code, make-up and even inside the home cleaning. Everything must stay perfect. The one thing Thomas didn't read in the bylaws when they were looking at this community was the part about all men's dress code. See men were required to stay in chastity at all times unless there wives we about to be having intercourse with them at that moment. In addition to this all men where required to follow the same dress code listed above. What does that mean, they didn't have a men's dress code listed above. He found out quickly it meant they must follow the same dress code as the Lady's. There was no questioning this for him as everything he had was signed in to the contract. If he failed to follow these rules he would be in violation of the HOAs bios and other than just fines and corporal punishments if it went too far the HOA could take his home from him and his family more so all of his property is linked to this so they can take everything he had. He knew that his wife had known about all this before they bought the house and was much happier here anyway so he fell inline. The biggest shock for him is that once a week they have "Alpha night" at the club house. In the 1940s there was less than 13% single parent homes in the black community
Early 1970s, 24% according to Brooking Institute graphs. From the vantage point back then, that looked bad
In 2017 it is said to be 72% single parent homes in the black community
In the 1920s, there were 20% or so black population in the US prison system and 75% white. It almost reflected the outside population. This was a time when racism was blatant and blk men were jailed for something as simple as alleged vagrancy violations, part of the "Black Codes", yet still made up less of prison population. African Americans are said to constitute nearly 50% of the prison population today

From Wikipedia on Greenwood, OK (Black Wall Street), about the 2 black men that started the extensive building in the community
...In 1906, Gurley moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he purchased 40 acres of land which was "only to be sold to colored".[8] Black ownership was unheard of at that time....
...Among Gurley's first businesses was a rooming house which was located on a dusty trail near the railroad tracks. This road was given the name Greenwood Avenue, named for a city in Mississippi. The area became very popular among black migrants fleeing the oppression in Mississippi. They would find refuge in Gurley's building, as the racial persecution from the south was non-existent on Greenwood Avenue...
In addition to his rooming house, Gurley built three two-story buildings and five residences and bought an 80-acre (32 ha) farm in Rogers County. Gurley also founded what is today Vernon AME Church.[2]
...Another black American entrepreneur, J.B. Stradford, arrived in Tulsa in 1899. He believed that black people had a better chance of economic progress if they pooled their resources, worked together and supported each other's businesses. He bought large tracts of real estate in the northeastern part of Tulsa, which he had subdivided and sold exclusively to other blacks. Gurley and a number of other blacks soon followed suit. Stradford later built the Stradford Hotel on Greenwood, where blacks could enjoy the amenities of the downtown hotels who served only whites. It was said to be the largest black-owned hotel in the United States.[2]..

He won a medal for being the only African-American to invent and display an airplane at the spectacular 1911 First Industrial Airplane Show held in conjunction with the U.S. International Auto Show at Manhattan’s Grand Central Palace in New York City.[13] His airplane invention was written about in several of the African-American media, one foreign Ghana newspaper described it as a quadruplane, and others just wrote about the excitement of there being an African-American airplane inventor and taking a place in the history of aviation.[14] The event had a host of the well-established attending and speaking, and was covered by the media for two weeks. And, his airplane invention was an excitement for the African-American community. In a May 1911 issue of The Crises: A Record of the Darker Races, Social Uplift (page 7) published by the National Association of Colored People (NAACP) in New York City, there is a brief mention of C.W. The House Judiciary GOP had some troubling questions they posed on X. Shop at Bass Pro Shop recently? How about Cabela’s? Bought a bible? If so, the federal government may be coming after YOU. https://t.co/NNRZboXRDr — House Judiciary GOP (@JudiciaryGOP) January 17, 2024 "Shop at Bass Pro Shop recently? How about Cabela's? Did you buy a bible? If so, the federal government may be coming after YOU." House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan explained in a troubling letter to Noah Bishoff, the former Director of the Office of Stakeholder Integration and Engagement in the Strategic Operations Division of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in the Treasury Department. We now know the federal government flagged terms like “MAGA” and “TRUMP,” to financial institutions if Americans completed transactions using those terms. What was also flagged? If you bought a religious text, like a BIBLE, or shopped at Bass Pro Shop. pic.twitter.com/jjRaVNItWz — Rep. Jim Jordan (@Jim_Jordan) January 17, 2024 Read more: pic.twitter.com/ZT47BpW0bc — Rep. Jim Jordan (@Jim_Jordan) January 17, 2024 FinCEN distributed materials to financial institutions that, among other things, outline the "typologies" of various persons of interest and provide financial institutions with suggested search terms and Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) for identifying transactions on behalf of federal law enforcement.' These materials included a document recommending the use of generic terms like "TRUMP" and "MAGA" to "search Zelle payment messages" as well as a "prior FinCEN analysis" of "Lone Actor/Homegrown Violent Extremism Indicators." They also looked at other things like "‘transportation charges, such as bus tickets, rental cars, or plane tickets, for travel areas with no apparent purpose" and "the purchase of books (including religious texts) and subscriptions to other media containing extremist views." What qualifies as "extremist views" here? As Jordan said, the government seemed to be looking into potentially protected political and religious expression. Jordan said the committee obtained documents showing that FinCEN distributed slides, prepared by Key Bank, to other banks to explain how they could use merchant category codes (MCC) to detect customers whose transactions may reflect "potential active shooters, and who may include dangerous International Terrorists/ Domestic Terrorists/ Homegrown Violence Extremists (‘Lone Wolves’)." Jordan said the slide instructs financial institutions to query for transactions using certain MCC codes like "3484: Small Arms," "5091: Sporting and Recreational Goods and Supplies," and the keywords "Cabela’s," "Dick’s Sporting Goods" and "Bass Pro Shops," among others. It looks like they may have been trying to do an end run to track people who could potentially be making gun purchases, sweeping up other people who just go to these stores and buy other things up in their net. Jordan said there was no criminal nexus for any of this. The stores didn't respond to a Fox inquiry on the matter. They want Bishoff to testify and explain what the heck was going on here. This isn't the first time the government has been caught casting a wide net. They did something similar after January 6, 2021, with the FBI getting information from Bank of America about any credit or debit transactions using a Bank of America in the Washington, D.C. area between January 5 and January 7, 2021 "voluntarily and without any legal process." Jordan said when they checked it out there wasn't any nexus to federal criminal conduct. Also if you had ever purchased a gun and were made a transaction in that period, you were elevated to the top of the list to be looked into. This is pretty troubling and Jordan said they want the FBI to make the senior private sector partner for outreach in the Strategic Partner Engagement Section available for a transcribed interview by Jan. 31 to explain the FBI's "mass accumulation and use" of Americans' "private information without legal process." In 2019, Maria Jimenez felt under siege. Seventy-two and in poor health, Jimenez had a problem with hoarding that attracted the attention of Camarillo, California, code enforcement officers. She had bought her house in 1981 with her late husband and worked two jobs to afford the mortgage. She raised her children there, teaching them to work hard and follow the rules. Now, city inspectors had begun issuing her citations.
When she called the phone number on a HomeVestors ad, she reached Patriot Holdings, the successful franchise run by brothers Cody, Chris, Casey and Cory Evans with their partner Scott Mansfield.
“I need help,” she told the person on the phone.
Cory Evans arrived the next morning. According to court documents, he told her: If you sell to me, I’ll clean the house up and code enforcement will go away. If you don’t, the city will come with its trucks, pack up your belongings and take your house. While that wasn’t true, it scared Jimenez into signing a sales contract on the spot.
The next day, a social worker arrived to help with the code violations. She assured Jimenez the city wouldn’t take her home and taught her about programs to help older adults clean up their properties.
But after Jimenez tried to cancel the sale, Evans sued her for breach of contract. In arbitration, Patriot Holdings demanded $150,000 to release its claim on the house, Maria’s daughter Patsy Jimenez said. The stress took its toll on Maria Jimenez, who suffered a mild stroke, Patsy said.
Meanwhile, criminal investigators in Ventura County took an interest in the case. After they found a second elderly victim who was pressured by Evans into selling his house, the district attorney filed felony charges against Evans of attempted grand theft of real property and attempted theft from an elder. He pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted grand theft, dropped his lawsuit against Jimenez and served his sentence on probation. His conviction was later expunged in accordance with California law.
Jimenez saved her home, but the trauma from the experience continues, her daughter said. “She feels guilty. And, I go, ‘Mom, you were a victim.’”
Neither Evans nor the franchise responded to requests for comment. A spokesperson for HomeVestors’ corporate office said Cory Evans is no longer associated with the franchise.
“We are not aware of any complaints since the removal of Cory Evans from the franchise,” the company said.
The year after Evans pleaded guilty, he and his brothers received an award from HomeVestors recognizing their “top sales volume.”

Amazon seller consultant avoids jail in employee bribery scheme
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8d0100c2a433b2d33a3f221ac1d4546e/24308aa1d5e3dc56-cb/s540x810/ffbe0d95dff97fa3853e124d412dfe6ea892c4df.jpg)
A prominent Amazon consultant has avoided jail time for his involvement in an elaborate scheme to bribe company employees to give his clients an upper hand on the e-retailer's sprawling online marketplace.Ephraim "Ed" Rosenberg in March plead guilty to a criminal charge, stemming from a Sept. 2020 indictment that charged six people with conspiring to pay Amazon employees bribes in exchange for confidential information that would benefit third-party merchants selling goods on the company's marketplace.Rosenberg was sentenced Friday in a federal court to two years of probation, and 12 months of house arrest. He was also ordered to pay a $100,000 fine.Rosenberg, 48, is a well-known figure in the world of Amazon third-party sellers. He runs a consultancy business that advises entrepreneurs on how to sell products on the online marketplace, and navigate unforeseen issues with their accounts. Rosenberg's Facebook group for sellers, ASGTG, has over 70,000 members, and he hosts a popular conference for sellers each year in his hometown of Brooklyn. The case provides an unfiltered glimpse into the cottage industry of consultants and brokers that has flourished alongside the growth of Amazon's third-party marketplace. Since its launch in 2000, the marketplace has become a lucrative and competitive platform for millions of sellers to market their wares. From May 2019 to May 2020, U.S. small and medium businesses selling on the marketplace had an average of over $160,000 in sales, according to a report issued by Amazon. While the marketplace has helped Amazon haul in tens of billions of dollars in sales, it's also become a notorious host to counterfeit, unsafe and expired goods. Behind the scenes, scammers have for years resorted to illicit tactics to squash competitors, artificially boost their listings or bypass Amazon's marketplace rules. The case isn't the first time Amazon has dealt with issues of company employees leaking confidential information or manipulating the site in exchange for payments. In 2018, the company investigated claims that employees, primarily based in China, who received payments worth $80 to more than $2,000, in exchange for access to internal data, The Wall Street Journal reported.Amazon has said it invests hundreds of millions of dollars per year to ensure products are safe and compliant. The provision of internal data to sellers by employees violates Amazon's seller policies and code of conduct.Rosenberg's punishment is far less severe than what other defendants have faced. A former Amazon employee was sentenced last year to 10 months in prison, while a consultant who also sold products on Amazon is serving 20 months in prison.Prosecutors recommended a lesser sentence for Rosenberg because there was no evidence he initiated attacks on competitors' product listings like some of his conspirators, who allegedly lodged false complaints to Amazon, and bought fake negative reviews for rivals' products. Other defendants also pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges in addition to the bribery scheme.Between July 2017 and Sept. 2020, Rosenberg paid bribes directly and indirectly to Amazon employees in order to steal confidential data, as well as gain access to internal systems. In one case, Rosenberg made 33 different PayPal payments worth $18,650 to an Amazon employee in Seattle in exchange for confidential information about third-party seller accounts. Most of his payments were for account "annotations," or an internal Amazon employee log of infractions on a sellers' account, which Rosenberg and another defendant, Joe Nilsen, covertly referred to as "fruit" in email correspondence."Sellers who had been suspended from selling on Amazon could use this internal information to see exactly what Amazon had figured out about the sellers' infractions and to tailor their appeals for reinstatement accordingly," prosecutors alleged.Nilsen bragged to Rosenberg over email about the services he had gained access to by bribing employees."I am not trying to make it seem like we have all the abilities in the world, but even though it took some time and some face to face meetings, we obtained abilities that still blow my mind," Nilsen wrote in a Jan. 2018 email to Rosenberg, referring to his internal contacts as "high up 'flick the switch' type guys.""I don't want to have a little menu floating around but if you are in need of anything, just run it by me and I will let you know," Nilsen continued.Previously unsealed court documents said Rosenberg allegedly sent a "veiled threat" to an Amazon employee at the company's Seattle headquarters as part of the bribery scheme, Bloomberg reported. The documents also detailed the defendants' elaborate efforts to dodge detection by authorities, including allegedly stuffing a llama-shaped ottoman with cash believed to be bribes, according to Bloomberg.Rosenberg's guilty plea in March marked a reversal of his position on the case. He repeatedly denied prosecutors' allegations and claimed in LinkedIn messages to CNBC he was being framed, as well as in posts on Reddit forums and Facebook groups. He later admitted he made false statements about the case and admitted to bribing Amazon employees in a public apology posted online. An attorney for Rosenberg, Jacob Laufer, wrote in a sentencing memo that while Rosenberg's conduct was illegal, it was a symptom of a marketplace ruthlessly governed by Amazon wherein merchants could be arbitrarily booted off the marketplace at any time, and struggling to get their businesses reinstated, turned to illicit tactics."Given that these sellers were in the dark about their alleged wrongdoing, how to correct the problem, and when Amazon might recognize its error, sellers were frequently desperate and sometimes would resort to illegal means to obtain the information necessary to accomplish the goal of saving their businesses," according to the memo. "The 'information necessary' was the annotations." Source link Read the full article
