There is a Boston expression (at least I am fairly sure it is a just Boston/Massachusetts expression) that I would love to see in media more: No sir, pronounced “no suh” and it means no way, an expression of disbelief. It is not gendered. I would guess most people think the word is sur or suh

Example:

A: Kathleen hooked up with Erin’s boyfriend, Connor

B: No suh!

Or:

A: I won tickets to the Sox game tonight! You in?

B: No suh! That’s awesome, man! Let’s hit the packie first and get some nips to sneak in

Anyway, hope you all enjoyed this Boston English lesson, please feel free to use the expression either written as suh or sir in your writing of boston characters

Boston City Hall & Council Chamber

Completed in 1968, City Hall is a leading example of Brutalist architecture in America, featuring exterior facades and interiors of exposed, cast-in-place concrete. Finegold Alexander strategically redesigned the Boston City Hall Council Chamber to enhance accessibility and upgrade the technology and building systems. To resolve code and access deficiencies, Finegold Alexander raised the council chamber floor, eliminating ramps and steps making accessibility in and round the space universal. Other key interventions include acoustical upgrades, technology and lighting improvements. It is a controversial and prominent example of Brutalist architecture, part of the modernist movement. It was designed by the architecture firms Kallmann McKinnell & Knowles and Campbell, Aldrich & Nulty, with LeMessurier Consultants as engineers.

Shifty will have a table set up at Mission Dispensary in Worcester, Massachusetts on May, 5 2023 from noon to 5! That day happens to also be the founding day of this blog, so come say Happy Anniversary for a free Beet Poot anniversary bag! We always try to bring an interesting spread of our original merch and thrifted nonsense for your shopping pleasure. There will be food, music, and a bunch of other vendors, too! Since this is a dispensary, this is a 21+ event. We have a venue nearby for some all ages stuff that is pending. Postponed til further notice!

Tickets are $25 each and include 2 movies and a 75 song live show! Tell him Shifty sent you and maybe we can convince him to do our song live again next year!
