Ok so, I initially was actually kind of confused by these characters. Like, I felt the ✨brio energy✨ and all that, but I think much like Beth, I didn’t take Rio seriously in his attraction to Beth until basically the moment he followed her into that bathroom. And maybe this is my own social immaturity. Because I’m so bad at reading sexual intent on people! But it always felt a little patronizing to me, until his mouth gaped open as he finally touched that booty. And idk why I ever doubted it. Because look at her. Beth is Christina-fucking-Hendricks. Like, of COURSE Rio would want her. Idk why my brain was broken for a minute there. But once I saw it on him, I couldn’t unsee it. That vulnerability he had that she brought out in him in all the wrong ways. I’m embarrassed to say that I started really really paying attention to character nuance only once Brio had sex. Up until then I watched pretty casually and never quite believed anything would happen between them. But once it did, I knew Rio would be a man with no self control. That’s when I started seeing all his motivations as being a lot more desperate and a lot more rooted in his own personal loss of innocence and insecurities about who he is as a person. I’ve clearly done a whole ton of overthinking about these characters since that initial watch oh so long ago. So for me, Rio went from someone who was just bored and toying with a new and interesting puzzle, to a lonely and sensitive man who really struggled with reconciling his identity with the type of life he felt he was destined to live out. I wish I could watch it all again for the first time to see how I would interpret it all now.

Maya POV

Man, I'm tired but the only thing keeping me from sleeping are this interesting things Aaron has. It's I'm seeing a new side of him. I mean motorcycle, swords. I think nothing of it and shrug it off as man stuff.

"You still listen to music on a vinyl record?"

"Yeah it keeps the old classy vibe."

"Rio told me that Miles has one too. He's tryna be like you."

"What can I say I'm a cool guy."

"Hmmm says the same guy who was stuttering all over the place."

He attempts to tackle me like he always did when he didn't know what else to say. I run to the bathroom. Which reminds me.

"I need to take a shower. I know it's late but it was a long flight and a great party and it was cold."

"Umm ok. You do that."

Aaron POV

As soon as she closes the door I get toward in finding more things that I need to hide. There are a bunch of gadgets that I was working on that need to be out of sight. I can't have her seeing them, questioning me or worse hurting herself.

I look at the place and it seems decent. That same time the door to the bathroom opens.

"Ron, can I borrow a shirt. I don't have my clothes."

I turn to face her and.....damn. She appears from the steamy room in only just a towel that stops at her thighs. It feels like I'm seeing her body for the first time again.

"Umm second draw."

She moves past me and my eyes instantly go to her behind. Lawd have mercy. Is it me or has she been working out. It looks soo plump and juicy and squishy and....

She ain't gotta tell me twice. My clothes are on the floor, leaving me in my boxers. I go to pick her up by the thighs so she wraps her legs and arms around me. I fall on the bed with her under me. I feel something that is on her neck. I look at what it is and its shiny.

"You kept the necklace I gave you?"

The letter ‘A’ sits around her neck, in gold, in cursive writing. I had completely forgotten about it.

As much as I wanna have fun and catch up, I can tell she need rest after long flights and a Christmas party. We both move to our sides under the covers. Once I switch off the side lights and move to my place, Maya comes and cuddles up to me.

I enclose her in my arms as I cuddle her back. It felt like a complete puzzle. So warm and cozy. As it should be. Within minutes I could sense that she had fallen asleep by her soft breathing. Not soon after I fall asleep.

I hear a faint noise in the back. Sounds like buzzing of my phone. I open my eyes and feel around the side. I lift my head from the pillow and see that Maya's not there. Matter of fact her side is completely untouched. Is she in the bathroom? But the placye is completely dark and cold.

I get up go to the living room where I see Maya standing there looking at me with this look on her face. She looks terrified. I've never seen her so scared. I take a step forward but she takes one back. She puts her hands out for me not to come near her.

"Maya what's wrong?"

"All this time. W-why Aaron?."

She sounds so angry and upset at the same time. She stumbles over her words. She looks like she could be sick by the way she's shaking.

"What are you talking about?"

"All this time you...... you’re are the prowler."

I freeze. How does she know. I look around the place I can't see anything that could have given it away. I see my reflection on the window behind her. I see myself in the suit. I look down at my hands and they are the claws covered in blood.

I look up and see her shaking hands covering her mouth and tears streaming down her face. I can sense another presence in the room.

"Well isn't that a shame."

That voice. I know that deep voice. That voice that gives me missions and tasks. I turn my head slowly hoping it isn't true. To my horror I see Kingpin here. Standing at his full height making his way to her. I try to speak. To say something to make his stop. But I couldn't. It was like this body wasn't my own anymore.

"You've become sloppy these days prowler. Is it because of her hmm?"

My head had been preoccupied with Maya after the conversation with Miles, so much that I've made more mistakes in my job.

"Such a beautiful woman, too bad she has to go…. Prowler get rid of her."

All of a sudden my body starts to involuntarily move. I move to her and she's too scared to move. She falls from the terror that's about to unfold. I crouch down to her level where she's sitting on the floor. I'm looking at her through the lenses of my mask. I don't remember putting that on. Her breathing is out of control.

My hand raises up to her neck and slowly start squeezing with pressure. I'm trying so hard to stop but I feel like a puppet at Kingpins control. She starts struggling and puts her hands on my wrist as a way to resist. She kicks and tries to push me away.

"A-Aaron please s-stop. I c-can't breathe."

My mind goes blank as she chokes on her words and her breathing becomes more shallow the more pressure I add. Why am I hurting her? Somehow I gain back control of my body and I stop. She takes a huge deep breath in and coughs while holding her neck. I go to hold her to try calm her down.

"You're failing prowler, I can't have that."

He reaches for something behind him. He pulls out a gun and aims it at both of us.

"You used to be so sharp, alert and efficient. Now with her in the picture you've slipped up."

The end of the gun faces us. Maya comes back to a conscious state and notices the gun pointed at us. She moves in closer to me and I tighten my hold on her.

BANG

"Trust me it's better this way."

He's talking to me. I open my eyes and look around but he's gone. I feel fine but the gun went off pointed this way. That's when I feel the weight in my arms. Do I even dare look down? I hear very shallow breathing.

"A-Aaron."

I quickly look at her. Her top is soaked in blood. She's trying to speak but coughs up blood. She's been shot in the chest. A puddle of her blood grows on the floor. I lay her down on her back.

"Shhh don't speak."

What do I do? I put my hand and put pressure on the wound but it bleeds through my fingers. This is my fault. I'm so consumed in my own head until I feel her hand onto of mine.

"It's my fault. You don't deserve this. I was selfish to keep you. You should've been happy with another guy and start a family. I know you would be a great mother."

I tighten my grip on her hand.

"It's ok Ronnie."

She takes a few shallow breaths.

"Hey look at me. I love you ok. I wouldn’t want to spend my life anywhere else."

She gives on last smile to me. Her hand falls to her side and her eyes slowly close.

“Maya. Hey don’t go. Maya please don’t leave me.”

Across Your Shoulders and Chest (explicit, ongoing)

Ice is working late on base, Maverick is left alone for the rest of the afternoon and the majority of the evening. Finding something to do isn’t a problem; their laundry is overdue, as are the dirty dishes sitting in the sink.

When Maverick arrives home, he quickly changes out of his service khakis into something more comfortable. Throwing on a shirt that had been sitting on the floor, it’s probably Ice’s, it's too big on him, and a different pair of boxers. He lingers in his shared bedroom longer than necessary, just laying in their unmade bed. Relaxing his muscles that have been straining since he went under the pressure of flying. That had been ten hours ago, he managed to get a lock on Hades within a minute. Showering soon after that had let some tension loose, but not all of it.

Fifteen minutes later, Maverick feels his back starting to go stiff. He sits up with a huff of pain and annoyance, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. Now standing, Maverick stretches his back until it lets out relieving cracks. With a yawn, he slowly stalks out of the room with bare feet to go finish the chores from the weekend.

It was a joke at first. Something stupid that a mostly-drunk Slider babbled out at a bar. When it was first mentioned, it had been laughed at by their little group, all making fun of Maverick in a good light.

Now, Ice doesn’t exactly know how the topic of conversation came to that exact thing. He had been a bit tipsy at the time. But as he woke up with a headache drilling right into his brain to nestle in for a long while, he tried to remember the events of the night before.

They had been celebrating Slider’s promotion to commander, hence the embarrassing toast that Ice recalls giving his RIO. Then Maverick went to fetch some drinks, then Slider brought up… that. Some time later. Whatever the taller man had said went through one ear and out the other with a laugh in between. Maybe a few of those things had been stored away for later to dwell on with a more sober brain.

Pete walks down the beach, his bare feet digging into the wet sand while he talks with Nick. They’re heading into junior year of high school in August, a whole sixteen years of life already gone by. It sure as hell doesn’t feel like it.

“So, I’m going to be with my mom for the rest of the summer. Leaving Miramar on the weekend and flying out to Texas. You’re gonna have to find someone else to complain to about your aunt and uncle, bud.” Nick is explaining his summer plans. Pete hasn’t really been listening, much too upset that one of his only friends is leaving him when they have free time for the next two months.

“Why can’t she come here? I mean, it’s the least she could do after barely taking care of you for the first nine years of your life,” Pete mumbles the second part, not wanting to get another lecture of Nick defending his awful mother.

“You know she can’t, Petey.” Nick gives him a stern look.

“Whatever,” Pete scoffs frustratedly. “When are you coming back home?”

Teenage Drama (teen, finished)

Tom is sitting in Maths class, paying attention to the lesson—or trying to, his friend Leo is attempting to start up a conversation with him. Leo huffs out a breath, giving up and then turning to Ron.

The teacher, Mr. Hadder stops speaking when he turns around. His eyes land on a student whose head is buried in his arms on his desk, Tom moves his gaze towards the student. Mr. Hadder clears his throat. “Peter,” the kid’s head lifts to look at the front of the classroom. “Pay attention.”

The kid, Peter, simply rolls his eyes and lets his hands rest in his lap and slouches in his chair. A small group of girls sat near the back of the room giggle quietly and share hushed whispers with one another. With the new angle of Peter, Tom is able to get a better look at him.

Reflecting Thoughts (explicit, finished)

It’s warm outside when the rain falls, padding against the house lightly. Maverick smiles at the soothing sound but closes the kitchen window.

The coffee maker roars to life while the water starts heating up. Maverick retrieves two mugs from the cupboard above the sink. He hums a tune he’d heard on the radio the day before as he sways his hips ever so slightly to whatever song may be playing in Mav’s head.

Suddenly, an arm wraps around his waist and startles Mav out of his thoughts. Maverick whips his head around. A soft smile settles over his lips when he recognises Ice leaning most of his body weight on him.

“‘Morning Ice,” Mav chuckles. His boyfriend’s head is pressed in the crevice between his neck and shoulder. The fact that he has to bend down to do so must make it uncomfortable.

The Rock Show (teen, finished)

“Come on, Tom! I promise you it’ll be fun! It’s only for one day.” Ron, his best friend, begs him over the phone.

Tom groans from his side on the line, he picks at his fingernail. “The whole day? Who wants to spend an entire day at some music festival? Let alone a month and a half,” Tom argues back. The last time he let Ron bring him to a concert he had a pounding headache the next day.

“First, it’s the Warped Tour, not just a random music festival, and I want to spend an entire day there, maybe even a week. You don’t have to be there the whole time, and I’m meeting up with some friends from my old school at around six. Maybe you could meet them!” Ron sounds too excited for Tom to deny him this. He falls back on his unmade bed.

So, reluctantly, Tom agrees. “Fine. I’ll go. I’ll meet your friends, too. I’ll be there at around four-thirty, just so we have some time together before we meet them.”

It’s Something Unpredictable. But In The End, It’s Right. (teen, finished)

Pete had been in an argument with Bradley; something about pulling his papers back at the Naval Academy. Though that had only happened just minutes ago, Pete could hardly remember what was said.

He was just about to retaliate, then Warlock burst through the door. Pete watched his eyes flickered between himself and Bradley, they had gotten closer, physically, during their quarrel. He said one word. One word and a nod, that’s all Pete needed to know; his wingman is gone.

His breath got caught in his throat, he silently nodded and walked out the door past Warlock, leaving Bradley confused and angry. Pete’s hands were in loose fists staying strictly at his sides as he walked alongside Warlock towards Cyclone’s office.

Hotshot (teen, finished)

“Dismissed,” Jester finally announced. Ice had stopped paying full attention by their fourth class, it seemed like all of the other aviators had a similar idea, as it took a few seconds for them to register what Jester had said. “I’ll see you all at seven tomorrow at the hangar.” Jester and Viper walked out of the classroom.

Slider rested his arm over Ice’s shoulders, letting out an exaggerated yawn as they stood. The RIO flops his head over to speak to his pilot, “Come on, at least show some sort of emotion! You’re literally the best pilot here.” Iceman rolled his eyes.

“Yes, I’m immediately the best pilot at TOPGUN after a day of briefings and no flying.” Ice replied sarcastically, shooting a glare at his best friend. Slider’s comment only made Iceman’s ego bigger than it already is; he doesn’t want to sound like a complete stuck up asshole on his first day.

Steve sighed as he leaned against the counter, he just gave Erica free ice cream, again. Usually he’d just roll his eyes as the bratty girl grinned smugly and walked away.
