Dear Gus & Magnus,
It's Gus's 100th day of first grade, so Mom dressed him up as a 100-year-old man. He was pretty stoked about it and came home saying he had the best old-man costume. Here's another photo.
I went to a wall-breaking ceremony at the main library downtown at lunch because I'm excited about that renovation/expansion project. After work, I took Gus to a make-up gymnastics class. At his request I introduced Gus to more music in the truck; he really liked Smashing Pumpkins's "Bullet with Butterfly Wings." I feel like this whole music introduction thing we're going through right now marks the beginning of a new era. And like the beginning of every era of his life so far, it makes me so eager for him to be an adult. Not that I want to wish away these childhood stages, but I think I'm eager for you two to be my best friends. That sounds sappy, but it's sincere.
Dad.
Little Rock, Arkansas. 2.6.2024 - 7.23am.
MILESTONE: I can't remember if I've mentioned it yet, but I know I'll be looking for it here in about four years, so let me note that Gus has graduated from a car seat to a booster seat -- I think a week or two ago. Sooooo much better.

Does anyone else remember when we were in elementary school (2001-2002~ish), how our parents lo-key freaked out when the law changed and all the kids under a certain height/weight suddenly had to get booster seat for the car? And literally EVERY WALMART was sold out of them?
No one? Just me? 😐🥲🙃

Apparently, if you're less than 8 years old or under 4' 9" you have to have a booster seat in a car.
Jade is 4' 9".
She is somewhere between 18-19 years old in our years, but calendars on other planets are weird and I'm not sure her exact age.
She would still need a booster seat. Maybe.

Switching from a Car Seat to a Booster
It's exciting when your little one is ready to switch from a car seat to a booster seat. At Robert J. DeBry & Associates, we know how important it is to keep your children safe while in the car, and ensuring they're in the right seat is essential. If you have any questions about switching to a booster seat, an experienced car accident lawyer can help.
When to Switch
When your child is between four and eight years old, they are likely ready to switch from a car to a booster seat. The height and weight determine this. Your child should be tall enough for the seat belt to fit correctly over their shoulder and lap.
Benefits of Switching
Switching to a booster seat can benefit your child once they are at the appropriate height and weight. Booster seats are designed to raise your child, so they fit correctly across their body. This can provide additional protection in the event of a car accident. Booster seats are often more comfortable for children, allowing a more natural seating position and providing extra back support.
Choosing the Right Booster Seat
When it comes time to switch to a booster seat, choosing the right type for your child is essential. There are two main types of booster seats: backless and high-back. Backless booster seats are best for vehicles with a headrest, as they can provide additional support for your child's head and neck. High-back booster seats are best for cars without a headrest, providing extra charge and neck support.
Using a Booster Seat
Once you have chosen the right booster seat, it must be installed correctly in your vehicle. It should be placed in the car's back seat, and the seat belt should fit snugly over the child's shoulders and hips.
It is also essential to ensure that your child uses the booster seat correctly. Ensure that your child is sitting upright, that the lap belt is resting on their hips, and that the shoulder belt is not behind them.
At Robert J. DeBry & Associates, we understand how important it is for parents to ensure their children are safe and secure when traveling in a car. That is why it is essential to know when it is time to switch from a car seat to a booster seat. If you have been injured in a car accident, contact a car accident lawyer to discuss your case.

Parenting children is a beautiful yet challenging task. Clothing, diapers, and baby necessities like strollers and cribs, booster seat is one of the many things a child requires. Even if you work hard as a parent to offer your child the greatest life possible in every manner, there may come a point when you have to make decisions about what to buy and whether or not you need certain goods. Since the majority of baby equipment, let’s face it, only lasts a few years. They only need to be used until your child outgrows them. It’s natural to pause before making a purchase since you don’t want to spend a fortune on something you’ll only use tomorrow because the majority of baby items aren’t inexpensive.
