Just finished listening to Babel by RF Kuang and it made me sad.

And I have a feeling starting book 2 of The Ending Fire Trilogy isn't gonna make me feel less sad.

the reality of sybil/vimes is that even if it Was written well and there Weren't deep foundational issues w/ the pairing, i still wouldn't find it as compelling as the divorce dynamic. its sooo much more interesting to me to imagine vimes' comphet marriage sucking That Bad while he's having an affair with his boss.

which is why i can't accept vetvibil. all the love in the world to you guys but i'm an inherent believer in a. vetinari's homosexuality and b. vimes' loveless marriage. <3

Birthday book haul lookin’ good

Was super excited to see Hall’s the Spires series (Pansies is coming out November I think?) in new editions with new material

Even happier that out of the 8 books I got, 7 are definitely queer. The 8th, Novik’s collection of short stories, is one I’ll have to read and find out but even if it isn’t I do love her Slavic folklore-inspired stuff (hello, Uprooted, I’m still looking for the blue hardcover edition of you 😭)

Was a bit sad that the only copy they had of The Darkness Outside Us was a paperback that got pretty smooshed at some point. Hopefully they’ll have a new copy next time I go 😕
