Sweater Shopping

a/n: working on several different things, but in the midst of those, decided i needed a cheesy bonkai fluff-ish piece, so here's one

When Bonnie hears the passenger door shut after closing her own, she sighs. She does, however, thank the higher power above for getting her to the mall safely, considering her travel buddy has been known to attack people from the backseat of their cars. 

The boy in question smiles at her as he approaches. He puts his phone in his pocket and follows her across the road. 

Bonnie glances at him from the corner of her eye. “When I said I forgive you, I did not mean that we would be friends. And I certainly did not mean you could follow me around everywhere.”

Kai kicks a pebble across the pavement, but doesn’t answer. 

“Why did you even come with me? The mall is the last place I’d ever think you’d want to be.”

“I don’t see it as a place you’d be, either.”

“I need a new top for the holidays. My mom wants me to come over for Thanksgiving, and all my sweaters are looking pretty rough.”

“Ah.”

Bonnie lets her feet carry her to her old favorite store. She hasn’t visited in ages, but she and Elena and Caroline used to go all the time together. 

“So where’s your mom live? What’s she do?”

The girl turns to give him a sharp look. “Why do you care?”

“Damn, just curious, okay? You always talk about your Grams. I don’t know anything about your mom.”

“You don’t know anything about me, either.”

Kai clicks his tongue. “I know more than you think.”

“Ugh.” She turns back to watch where she’s going. 

“Okay, look, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to upset you.”

“Then stop talking.”

He opens his mouth again, but then promptly shuts it. 

Satisfied, Bonnie turns the corner into the store. “If you’re gonna be here, stay close. Don’t need you wandering off and killing someone,” she mutters.

Kai nods, mouth still sealed. 

For the next ten minutes as she browses, he lurks a good five feet away at all times. With time, though, he starts to pick up on what kind of sweater she’s looking for, and to her indignation, offers some options. 

“Bon.”

“What?”

He lifts up a pastel blue one.

“No.”

“This?” A green with a frilly collar. 

“No.”

“This?” Now, it’s a maroon with a lower neckline. 

She sighs, ready to snap, but then kind of likes that option. “Maybe.”

Kai, smiling, loops it around his arm to keep for her. 

After she’s collected five or six options, she searches for the dressing room. Kai follows her into the section, but when her hand reaches for the knob into the actual room, she turns to him. 

“Stay.” Like a troublemaking dog. 

To her surprise, he does. 

Kai waits patiently, tapping his boot heel on the wooden floor, while she changes. His eyes are trained on the door, curious, but not daring to ask any questions. 

Bonnie, meanwhile, stares at herself in the mirror. She isn’t sure how she likes the pink-ish, argyle fit, and crinkles her nose with uncertainty. She sighs, then snaps a picture to send to Caroline. For three minutes, she waits for a reply. After nothing, she caves. 

“Hey,” she opens the door slightly and catches Kai’s attention.

His gaze is on her immediately. “Hi.”

“I need you to tell me how this looks. I don’t know if I like it.”

“Okay.” His heart races with excitement. 

Bonnie opens the door wider to show him the whole top. Kai tries not to stare, and more importantly, tries to form an appropriate reaction that doesn’t include stuttering.

The sweater is cute, and matches the rest of her outfit well, but doesn’t seem like her style. 

“I like the color, I’m just not digging it,” Bonnie explains. 

Kai then nods. “It doesn’t seem like you.”

“Okay. Putting it in the ‘no’ pile.”

She shuts the door. 

Two minutes later, she opens the door again. “Opinion?”

It’s a plain forest green, although with tiny green sparkles throughout it. Again, she looks beautiful, but it’s still not a match. 

“I don’t like it,” she states. 

“I don’t dislike it, but I think you could find something better.”

She gives a short nod. “‘No’ pile.”

By the third time, Kai’s expecting her. The first two times, he was caught off guard, but now he waits eagerly to see the next option. 

“Red,” she announces. It’s more of a maroon, but Kai doesn’t correct her. “Might look good with some gold jewelry.”

He smiles in agreement. “I like it. Gold would match well.”

“It’s a little big in the shoulders.”

“I didn’t notice until you pointed it out. But it gives it kind of a comfy look.”

Bonnie seems to like that answer. She smiles a little before poking her head back into the room. 

In a minute’s time, she presents another. “This one’s cool.”

Kai agrees immediately. This option has a criss-cross design across the top, exposing her chest just a little. Half of it is gray, but it’s an ombre into black at the bottom. 

“Here’s the back.” She turns so he can see the ombre from the other side. 

His breath hitches in his throat at how well fits her perfect body. The whole top is slightly cropped, too, showing off her tight jeans. “Um,” he stutters. He tears his eyes away as she turns back to face him. If he hadn’t known better, she did that on purpose. 

“Opinion?”

“Maybe not to wear at your mom’s. But you should get it anyway because it looks really good on you.”

Bonnie looks in the mirror at her figure. “I see what you mean. Maybe I’ll just get it for fun.”

“You should.”

A small smirk tugs on the edge of her lips. She definitely did that on purpose. 

“Okay. Two more choices.”

Kai’s foot taps harder against the wood as his mind clings to the image of her. She laughs to herself, having no idea why she decided to tease the boy, but is certainly having fun doing it. 

“Alright, your pick.”

It’s one of the ones he lifted up for her. Another maroon option, though with a v-neck that’s slightly off the shoulders. It fits well, hugging her body, but not too much. There’s no pattern or design, but she kind of likes it that way. 

“I think I already have a pair of earrings that would go with it.”

Kai smiles. “It looks nice on you.”

“It’s very soft, too.” 

Unexpectedly, she steps out of the room for him to touch. He leans forward to feel the cashmere material. The softness of it makes him relax, visibly, as he stops tapping his foot. 

“Comfortable.”

“Very. Alright, I have one more.”

Kai pulls his hand away, but can still feel the threads lingering on his skin. He waits patiently for the last one. 

It’s plain black, again with the argyle design, but without any frill. Bonnie likes it, but it doesn’t stand out in the way the others did. 

“Opinion?”

Funnily enough, Kai’s thoughts on it match her own. “Looks good, but I like the other ones better. Color suits you.”

That comment makes her smile. “Okay. So which of the maroons, then? The slightly baggier one, or the slight v-neck one?” Kai ponders her question for a moment. Meanwhile, she continues, “I like both, but with the first maroon, I’d have to buy gold jewelry. But with the second one, my bra strap shows a little.”

“So what?” Kai says without thinking. “Girls wear bras.”

Bonnie actually laughs. “Yeah, but I’m seeing my mom. Whom I don’t know all that well when it comes to her opinions of clothes.”

Kai bites his lip. “You look gorgeous in both of them.” 

She searches his face, taken off guard by the comment, but finds complete sincerity. “Thank you.”

He only nods. “Which is more comfortable?”

“I like them both. Though that cashmere is tempting. And the price isn’t outrageous.”

“I felt like you’d like it because you seem to always wear lower necklines or v-necks.” 

She thinks about that. “I do, yeah. I don’t like the feeling of clothes being tight around my neck.” She pauses. “Alright. I’m going with the second one. Plus I already have jewelry for it.”

“Are you still getting the ombre one for fun?”

Bonnie stops abruptly at his question. “How do you know what ombre is?!”

“I have a sister! I know these things.”

“Hm. Not a lot of boys would know terms like that.”

“Jo and I used to be close,” he reveals, “I remember some of the hairstyles and colors she used to pull off.”

The thought makes the girl laugh. She likes this more human side of Kai. A far cry from the sociopathic, alien-like creature she knew in the prison world. Maybe all it took to see it was for Bonnie to give him a chance. 

“Alright, then.” She smiles. “And yes, I’m getting both.”

The next time she hears her passenger door shut, she finds herself glad that the little troublemaker came along. She got to see a different side of him, and actually enjoyed his company. He came in handy, too, with his opinions on the sweaters. Caroline hadn’t answered until they were in the check-out line. 

“Mhhhmmm, pink’s kinda more my color,” her text said, “maybe there’s a maroon?”

Bonnie showed Kai the text with a smile. 

She replied to the girl, “got a maroon one, thanks!”

What she neglected to say was that Kai picked it out for her. She kept that little tidbit to herself, as well as the fact that she had fun with him. To Bonnie’s knowledge, though, Caroline doesn’t even know the little weasel slipped into her car in the first place. 

“So…” the weasel in question starts, “what day are you going to your mom’s?”

“Two days before the actual day of Thanksgiving. She knows I have Friendsgiving here on the actual day, and she knows my best friends are closer to me than she is.”

“Ah.”

“So I’m driving down that day, but then staying the night, then driving back in the morning-ish. She lives in North Carolina,” Bonnie finally reveals.

“Oh. Are you, uh, going by yourself? Like, Elena coming with you, or something? That’s quite a drive.”

“It is, but no.”

“Damon?”

“Hell no. She hates him. He’s the one who turned her.”

“Oh,” Kai repeats, then, quieter, “shit.”

“Yeah. So just me.”

“Can I go with you?”

“What?!”

“I don’t know, just asking. Keep you company.”

“I’m not sure, Kai…” Yes, she had fun today, but to spend a four hour drive with him? And to introduce him to her mom? She’s not sure about that. 

“It’s okay,” he says quickly, “I get it.”

“I just…” She makes the mistake of looking over at him. His eyes look slightly sad, the skin underneath tinted with bags. His hands are clasped in his lap, unusually still. “Tell you what… we still have a good week and a half until then. If you are good, and promise to be on your best behavior around my mom, maybe I’ll let you come with me.”

“Wait, really?”

“Since you picked out such a nice sweater for me to wear,” she jokes. 

“I promise I’ll be good. I won’t even bug Damon for fun.”

“You better not.”

Kai’s quiet, though internally very excited. Then, after a moment, he asks, “does this make us friends?”

Bonnie sighs. “Guess it sets us on the path to friendship. If you can promise to be good,” she reiterates one more time. 

The boy smiles one more time. “Yes!” He mutters, lowkey fist pumping the air. 

Bonnie watches him, hoping she made the right decision. Truthfully, he has been a lot better to her and her friends lately. Maybe he’s grateful for the accidental second chance he got when they realized they needed his magic to return from 1903. Or, maybe, it’s Bonnie seeing him in a different way now that he’s seemed to settle down. Either way, it would be easier to be friends, rather than enemies, with Kai, and maybe, she’ll learn she wants him that way, too.

Written by Herskovitz and Zwick and to be directed by Zwick, thirtysomething(else) will follow an ensemble of new faces playing the grown-up children of the original cast, the new generation of thirtysomethings. They are being joined by returning original cast members Ken Olin (Michael Steadman), Mel Harris (Hope Murdoch), Timothy Busfield (Elliot Weston) and Patty Wettig (Nancy Weston), reprising their characters in supporting roles.

Wood will play Leo Steadman, Hope and Michael’s son and Janey’s brother. Good-looking and charming (not unlike his father), Leo is so intent on becoming a “big deal” like his father that he skips steps along the way. His talent and grand ideas are tripped up by his lack of focus and follow-through.

Herskovitz and Zwick executive produce for ABC Studios, part of Disney TV Studios, and MGM Television. Filming on the pilot is slated to begin in March in New Jersey.

Wood played Mon-El as a series regular on the CW’s Supergirl for two seasons. He also had a major recurring role on The Vampire Diaries as Kai Parker, which he recently reprised on Legacies. 

The Carrie Diaries and Containment alum Wood wrote and directed short film The Stew, which premiered during opening night at the 2019 Annual HollyShorts Film Festival. He is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.

Forgot to add, it also gets very tiring fighting the naysayers/hypocrites...when we (Bonkai fans) are constantly being told by Plec & other shipdoms that we are "toxic" or "crazy" for wanting the same content that's been generously and discriminately given to ships like Klaus/Caroline, Damon/Elena, etc. That it's all in our heads, that Bonnie/Kai were never supposed to be a thing in a world were good girls typically falls for bad guys. I'm just so done.

OK, the thing about the anti-Bonkai pearl clutching is that it's been so roundly debunked now that I kind of side eye anyone who's still parroting Plec's excuses. She's basically - excuse my French - showed her ass in those series of interviews she did over the summer when she explained how:

she disapproved of Klaroline but Joseph's and Candice's chemistry was too hot to not explore ---- but she managed to steadfastly ignore Kat's chemistry with Ian

she didn't make Bonnie and Damon a couple because Bonnie has too much integrity to date a 'bad guy' like Damon ---- but she could make Bonnie be best friends with him, so how is that different? --- also, implying her other lead female characters had no integrity.

she singled out Bonkai to call out for being hateful to her ---- but didn't say a word about KC fans using trans slurs on Leah Pipes, or DE/Nian fans stalking Nikki and Ian.

So if people are still defending Plec's decision not to make BK canon, when it's been proven that none of her reasons were genuine, it's because they're either shipping Bonnie or Kai with other people and this is a convenient sjw-ish argument to use.

How would you have written Bonkai if you had the chance ?

So I’ve always been a fan of Dark Bonkai, so if I were to write them I would forgo the redemption arc completely. I wasn’t a fan of it when it aired and even though now I’ve warmed up to it more now it’s still not how I would have wanted Bonkai to go because as I said in a different post the only way I see that romance working out is as generic fluff which is just not my jam.

This first thing I would have done is after she sends Damon back is have Bonnie and Kai stuck together longer, not only because there needed to be more pay off from that but also because sending Kai back as quickly as they do wasted a great opportunity with both characters because once he’s back in the real world his storylines don’t fall flat but they aren’t as great especially when he ends up missing for an unusual amount of episodes–he’s the main villain of the season, he really shouldn’t have been missing from any episodes. So I wouldn’t have him figure out where Jo stashed her magic, but I would still have him take her to Portland for Thanksgiving because A) great development and B) it sets up or the one other thing I would have kept which is Bonnie’s breakdown because it’s such a well done scene.

From there I would have them do more cat and mouse games which would start with her killing Kai (who would come back) and running as far as possible taking his pager with her just to piss him of because he told her not to touch it. Then I would have the Delena failed Bonnie rescue mission (with a few things tweaked since Kai would still be in the PW, I’d just have the spell run out of time because they were doddling which is essentially what happened in canon) which literally ends up breaking her spirit. As much as I hate Bonnie being in pain, I love that scene because it is so well done and not just because of Kat’s acting, which is on point, but because for the first time ever the narrative actually cares about the pain Bonnie’s in, focuses on the pain she’s in, and doesn’t force her to be “strong”. 

Just look at Damon’s reaction when he realizes what’s going to happen to Bonnie. There reason I always preferred Damon with Bonnie and that’s because his reactions seem a lot more genuine which is mostly Ian because his reactions to Kat are a lot more genuine and that scene you could feel that Damon felt sadness for Bonnie, and what makes that scene so much better is that instead of only focusing on his sadness for her it cuts to her, and her pain, and in that moment she’s not infallible, she’s not the strong witch who can endure anything and everything, she’s broken and it’s devastating and it’s something we really didn’t get to see with her even when she literally died and had to see her own dead body. 

It’s always an easy scene to point out but it’s because it’s so atrocious is when Abby gets turned, you don’t even see Bonnie except for a glimpse after (I’m pretty sure they didn’t even have her on set for that shooting day), instead you have Caroline speak for her and then the show focuses on Elena’s pain from the incident which isn’t even empathy for Bonnie but rather her own pain because Bonnie won’t talk to her, which as I keep saying in my Tyler meta’s, neither of those are comparable experiences and prioritizing her pain over Bonnie’s was the breaking point for most Bonnie fans. So after years of getting things like that I was actually quite proud of that scene.

But back to Bonkai, I wouldn’t just keep that there because I like the scene but also because it signifies a breaking point which would be great in the development of Bonkai especially in a moment she feels most alone because she wouldn’t be completely alone, she would have Kai. If Bamon and Benzo taught me anything it’s that if she’s isolated alone with you long enough you will get her undying loyalty no matter what you’ve done and that’s something that’s actually in character because she has abandonment issues, or at least she should with her mother leaving her, her dad barely home, and then the only consistent family member she had, Grams, died. It explains why she clings on to her friends so much, unfortunately the show has never had enough nuance to even try to use that as a reason for why she keeps sacrificing herself, they just make it he obligation. 

From there she’d be willing to do anything to get out but without magic they don’t know how to leave so they spend more time together. Bonnie would be depressed, for obvious reasons, and I would have Kai trying to cheer her up because he likes her plucky and it’s not much fun seeing her like that. Then I would basically have most if not all the events from Metamorphosis happen right down to her killing herself and realizing no one can die in the PW not even her. They would have kinda a mentorship which involves them killing each other over and over (again events in Metamorphosis) which would cheer her up in a dark twisted way which would lead to a lot of dark twisted sex (not in the fic),

Eventually Bonnie would remember Qetsiyah’s rock because the fact that the rescue mission was literally remind Bonnie of what she already knew was ridiculous and something she could have figured out on her own. And then they get out disregarding Jo’s knife because another ridiculous thing, not that she hid it there, but because it continued to be hidden there after 18 years like “find a better hiding spot.” 

Kai would continue his quest to be Gemini leader, and Bonnie, now that she’s out and knows him a lot better would be conflicted with letting him kill his entire coven or leaving it alone–her conflicted feelings would effect him because he’s got the girl and doesn’t want to lose her but instead of trying to be better like we’ve seen oh so many times (Damon, Klaus, to a degree Katherine with Elijah) he tries to get he on his side using truths about her “friends” which is honesty something  think should have happened in season 4 with Shane because of how quickly he gets her trust, but let’s not lament on that. Eventually her new found attitude of looking out for herself actually takes and she lets him because unless she or the world is in danger of imploding she’s staying out of it.

After that I would actually have him merge with Liv. I’m sorry for people who liked Liv, but she was kinda of annoying and the writers clearly were trying to replace Bonnie with her, however that’s not the reason I would have her die in the merge. The reason I would have her die is because she was kind always meant to. She knew she was less likely to survive the merge with Luke and she was the most afraid to die and in the series finale she does accept her fate, but I would have much rather it been here during the merge. It would have been brave and lot more powerful because Luke wasn’t as afraid he just went with the flow. Also it would stop TVD’s tendency to kill all of their gay characters, in terms of which twin had more potential to add to the show it was easily Luke, again sorry for people who liked Liv, she was kinda like Caroline in that she was on of many witches (which was a new(ish) concept since it fell on Bonnie to be the sole witch without any family, but as I said they were clearly priming her to replace Bonnie).

Then I don’t know how I would develop it but basically it would end with Bonkai being king and queen of the Gemini combining their power to be the most powerful couple ever, but after Bonnie does a lot of traveling because that was something she needed, she needed to get out and make her own path. And after Kai learned to deal with feelings a bit more, I guess I would have him redeemed(ish) (but leaving Damon and Elena out of it because again why would he give a single fuck about them?) because that’s honestly the only natural ending, but I would want that redemption to be an individual process (which it kind was in canon but it still had people telling him to do x and people will forgive him and him doing x but unlike Damon x doesn’t work), so that would all be happening while she’s off traveling which she does almost immediately after she gets back and doesn’t bother telling any of the MFG she’s back, they only find out through Kai. 

If given a chance this is how I would have written Bonkai, basically having their development in the season coincide together. Also this is mostly a rewrite of season 6 but to write Bonkai (Bonnie) that’s necessary.

1. Who is Kai Parker to you?

My favorite male character on TVD.  He renewed my interest into the show after I stopped giving a fuck around season 3 or 4.  It actually surprises me how much I liked him from the get go - let’s be honest, another white male sociopath, but luckily his background and personality made him so much richer in character.  Dare I say, even compared to the mains.  

2. What’s your favorite episode in which Kai occurred?

When Kai saved Bonnie.  Also really liked the episode about his background when he was chasing his siblings to kill them; when he slammed that armoire/dresser and screamed like a deranged psycho, man, that honestly got me shook.  I haven’t felt that on edge since season 1 on TVD.  LOL  Also special shout out to that episode in season 8 where Kai couldn’t stop talking/mentioning about Bonnie...well, might as well mention Bonnie and Kai’s last BDSM scene together too.  😏

3. Who do you ship Kai with?

Bonnie.  My blog is meta enough on the various reasons why.

4. What’s your favorite part about Kai Parker?

His background and cheeky personality and his connection to Bonnie.  A siphon is a new creature introduced to the show’s mythology when Kai was first brought on.  Not only is he a siphon, but he’s a magicless witch as well (which the show alluded was how siphons worked at first until it trashed that in later seasons so being a siphon and having magic weren’t mutually exclusive to further ruin canon and create plotholes. LOL)  ANYWAY, this is new magical territory plus add in the utter chaos of the Gemini Coven and their fucked up traditions...it’s like how can you not be intrigued?  

After how many seasons of 95% vampire BS and hardly any exploration of werewolves, witches, or any other creatures, I was thrilled to finally get something besides the boring and redundant vampire business.  Additionally, the biggest draw was Kai’s story helping to refocus witches as the main/biggest bosses in the whole mythology once again (or really finally because witches were never treated as such in the first place).  I mean this is before I knew about Plec’s racist, problematic self, but yep, I still had hope this new plot direction will realign Bonnie to be a main and not just one claimed as such yet constantly shuffled to the side.  It helps that the Geminis already have history with the Bennetts, etc. so it only logically followed that Bonnie would finally be treated as she should starting from that season onward.  That Bonnie will be fully utilized as a full-fledged character with her own wants and motivations and not just a orchestrated puppet like she was in canon.

TBH, even if Kai was largely the same, but wasn’t connected to Bonnie...not sure if I’d like him as much.  Enjoy his scenes, sure.  But I basically got into the fandom for BonKai, so IDK.

5. How did it feel for you when Kai died?

I remember when the ending title sequence came in and I was like.......this can’t seriously be it?  I mean it obviously made no sense.  None whatsoever.  The last three-ish episodes of season 6 literally made little sense.  It was such a sharp turn compared to the rest of the season.  Normally you’d see this during the midseason episode and later, but Plec couldn’t even bother to organically ruin course earlier on instead of waiting to the second to last episode to shake things up.  In short, was in disbelief and if season 7 wasn’t already out by then, I probably would have taken another extended break from the show.  LOL

6. Did you ever had a dirty dream about him?

No.  It’s like I can never have dreams about characters or celebrities.

"HE'S MY WHAT?" Bonnie immediately shot out of the lounge chair in Alisha's apartment. "It's not true, I simply refuse to accept that!"

Alisha let out a low whistle.

Abby was rubbing her temples, "It's true Bonnie. Being a psychic skips generations, Sheila was one too. She didn't like your grandpa at first either, but you only develop a link with your soulmate.”

"He's not my soulmate! That was-"

Abby looked beyond irritated. “You mean the vampire whose spirit you couldn't call to even though he just died? Who you needed help reaching? I bet when Hell opened up you felt Kai instantly though didn't you? And it wasn't the first time was it? You felt him before you met him in the prison world as well."

"Don't you dare! He-"

"Treated you like shit just like everyone else did." Alisha spoke up. “I was gonna say no offense but now I’m like screw it, your moral compass when it comes to Kai is a roulette wheel.

“Shut up Alisha.” She hissed through clenched teeth.

Abby sighed and Bonnie felt her stomach drop at Abby’s facial expression. “...What?”

She stared directly into Bonnie’s eyes, “You do know that it’s permanant right?

To say Bonnie was astonished was putting it lightly. “No! There has to be some sort of spell to fix this! I will not be tied to him for the rest of my life!” For the second time Grams words came to her about finding peace and it’s not like she was sent to someone else’s prison world. Was she really fated to be with him?

“Bonnie, it always comes back to you and him. You may not want to admit it but you’re drawn to Kai. You two have a connection that’s unique to only you and him. I can see that and I’ve only recently met and spent time with the both of you.”

Bonnie sat back down in the chair, her head tipped back looking up at the ceiling. She was dismayed. Her and Kai, a thing, apparently.

Abby leaned forward on the sofa, eyes curious. “So the question is, what are you going to do?”

Bonnie’s hands covered her face. “Honestly, I don’t know. There’s no doubt Kai heard everything, it’s not like I can block him out.”

“Go talk to him then.” Abby started munching on a hand full of peanuts.

“It’s not that easy. When it’s just us it becomes rather...awkward.”

“That’s an understatement. It’s more like they need a room.” Alisha laid back on the chaise lounge sipping her milkshake again.

She rolled her eyes at her sister. “I could always just ignore this all together.”

“Ha okay. And what are you going to do since he kept up his end of the bargain? Your moral compass gonna spin outta wack again? Or are you gonna keep up your end too?” There was a challenge in Alisha’s eyes.

Bonnie released a groan and decided to throw caution to the wind. “Alright! I’ll talk to him.” She got up and stalked out of the apartment to find Kai.

Author’s Note: I wrote this thing a while ago. It was supposed to be a multichap Bonkai-heavy/Bamon hints/etc. deal but I ended up not writing much because I realize the fandom has probably moved on. If there’s interest, I’ll pursue it. Here’s a Bamon-ish excerpt, enjoy: 

Her every muscle shook as she sank deeply into the steaming pool of water. The heat soaked through her and she submerged herself completely into the bath, sighing out bubbles as the water swirled brackish with the rust of her dried blood. She ached. The sound of her heartbeat slowed in her ears and she waited, waited, eyes closed until she felt every pore in her body open up from the welcome warmth surrounding her.

Bonnie gingerly rose above the surface and sat upright in the bathtub, blinking water and ash away from her dripping eyelashes. Mechanically, she grabbed a bar of soap—the cloying scent soon filled the air as she methodically rubbed the suds into her skin. She looked straight ahead, feeling, instead of looking, her way along her body, checking with a sweep of her fingertips the extent of the damage. 

The motel’s travel shampoo and conditioner was barely enough to work though her knotted hair, which she had admittedly neglected these days. It was with a sigh of frustration as she fought her fingers through a particularly unruly knot that Bonnie realized just how long she had allowed her hair to get. Rinsing her head and standing up gingerly from the bathtub, she resolved that she would get a haircut first thing tomorrow morning, even if she had to do it herself.

Her scalp still stung from where the warlock had dragged her, screaming, across the floor.

Bonnie wrapped the threadbare towel around her shivering frame and pulled the bathtub plug, losing herself to the slow swirl of the bubbles and the dirt as it was sucked down the drain. Blinking, pulling herself out of the trance, she padded her way lightly over to the fogged-up mirror. Bonnie swept a hand over it, clearing it, and stared at herself. Steam rose off her skin in languid tendrils.

Her reflection wasn’t kind. 

Bonnie was, for lack of a better word, haggard. A red-purple welt covered most of her left cheek, likely the product of the initial magical blast at the cafe that blew her ten feet from where she was initially sitting. Her lips were cracked and scabbed and a capillary had burst in her right eye. Now she knew why the man at the front desk of the motel had given her such a frightened look. She looked like a monster.

But, after what she done today… perhaps it matched some of the ugliness within.

Carefully, Bonnie unwrapped the towel and dropped it to the floor. Eyes traveling down, she assessed the damage clinically. 

From the looks of things, it wasn’t good.

Deep, angry bruising dappled her skin a dark, violent blue-violet, sweeping up along a majority of her ribcage starting at the hip. One of her breasts was freckled with cuts, likely from the broken glass and splinters, and she didn’t even bother looking at her legs or backside because she could feel how cut up and battered they were.

Bonnie looked—and, for the most part, felt—like she had gotten into a losing fight with a freight train. Her hasty patchwork of magic had healed her ribcage back together, but even as she tried to summon her magic to begin healing the rest, it sputtered and receded. She was so, so tired, she realized, and as if her brain finally allowed herself to feel it, her knees almost buckled with the weight of the sudden fatigue that came over her. Well, then, she thought to herself. No magic tonight.

Cosmetic bruises and cuts she could deal with, she supposed. Pain was an old friend, besides. She backed away from the mirror and limped out of the bathroom, making her way towards the bed.

Her feet brushed up against her travel-worn duffel bag, heavy with tinctures and trinkets and odds and ends that a diligent witch such as herself would carry these days. Bonnie sat heavily on the duvet, fingers reaching down, grasping the zipper of her bag and parting it shakily. She reached in, feeling, knowing what and where she would find it but still checking to make sure all the same. 

The vial was cool, but the magic within it felt white-hot to her power-starved body. In that moment, she wished that she could siphon, just so she could do what needed to be done without drinking the blood inside that glass ampule. Instead, she clutched Damon’s blood tightly in her palm for a second, closing her eyes for a moment as she remembered what he had told her that day.

“Just in case,” he had hissed at her, almost angrily. He slapped the vial into her hands and closed her fingers around it forcefully. Bonnie glared at him, almost letting it slip through her fingers out of spite. 

Damon’s brow was furrowed, the little muscles in his face twitching with an exquisite combination of frustration and worry. “You used Enzo’s vial up in that stupid ‘endeavor’ of yours. You almost died! Bonnie…” his eyes sparked with anger and more than a little desperation. He placed his hands gently on her shoulders and willed her to look at him without anything but blankness.

“Bon, you are going down a path that only ends in your death. I refuse to be a part of it. I can’t. I won’t.” He blinked at her meaningfully. “I won’t be able to help you anymore. Not after today. This,” he gestured towards the glass phial in her palm, “this is my blood. The last of my vampire blood. And I want you to have it.”

Bonnie gazed at him evenly, and said nothing. The blood felt heavier in her grip.

“Bon—,” Damon’s voice was tight with emotion. “You’re my best friend. Please. Don’t kill yourself trying to find meaning in this world. You’re not going to find it. Trust me,” he chuckled mirthlessly, “I’ve tried.”

Bonnie breathed out a put-upon sigh. “Everyone dies eventually. Damon, I’ve died too many times to count. So have you, and pretty much everyone I’ve ever loved. Death doesn’t scare me. It’s a comfort. It’s familiar. And you should know me better than to think that I would ever become a vampire to avoid it.”

Damon nodded, chewed his lip for a moment. He hesitated. “I know. And I would never want you to be in a situation where you would feel the need to compromise that belief.” His tone was earnest, and she believed him. 

“But my blood can also heal you. Just…” Damon sighed, and for the first time Bonnie could see how human he was, how tired and old he felt in that skin of his. “If you ever find yourself on the brink, if you ever find you can’t do it alone… I’ll be here. With you. I’ll get you through.” He placed his hands over hers and gently squeezed.

After a moment, Bonnie tossed the vial back into the depths of her duffel bag and zipped it closed. 

With a groan, she slid between the sheets of the lumpy motel bed, hair still dripping wet and slightly tangled, and turned over on her less-bruised side. Her body ached but her mind could not process anything more tonight. Her eyes fell almost immediately shut, and soon she drifted off into a slumber.

1. What new themes will TLJ explore in SW franchise?

Hopefully the new dynamics of the post-OT galaxy. So far its been more than a little bit of a rehash, so I’m hoping Rian can make good on the promise of a galaxy struggling to find answers in the wake of the loss of central power, a centralized galactic military and the loss of the orbiting spiritual structures of the Jedi and the Sith

2. Which Padme outfit is the best?

Not much of a fashionista so I’m going to say her white suit from AOTC. It actually looked like normal clothes which for Padme is quite the feat. TBH I think it was the mutual degree of extra that first drew her and Anakin together

3. What would have happened if Padme survived her encounter with Anakin?

The real question is “what would have to happen for her to survive?” If she turned to the Dark Side along with him, then she’d probably be on course to be a Grand Moff butting heads with Tarkin over the Emperor’s favour with Anakin as her enforcer. If she managed to flee Mustafar with Obi-Wan and survive the choking, I’m honestly not sure. Part of me thinks she’d try and vanish into the background of either Tatooine or Aldeeran so she could at least be in one of her childrens lives. Don’t know which she’d pick either

4. Who will initiate the first kiss - Kylo or Rey?

Kylo will be the one to lean in first, then back off hesitantly before Rey brings them together. She’s a lot more in touch with her passions than he is

5. Will Jar Jar reappear in future Episodes?

Hopefully not? He was in a pretty pathetic state even by the end of Aftermath, and frankly considering he went down in history as the guy who pushed for Palpatine to get emergency powers I doubt he’d get the kind of support he needs to survive 30 years

6. In which moment did you realise that you ship Reylo?

Definitely on my second viewing of TFA. I watched it in the cinema for the first time, stumbled onto the reylo tag and decided to go back and see it again on the big screen. Watching it with the theories I’d read in mind, it just made so much sense I couldn’t not ship it

7. Is Snoke just a new character or is he hiding his real identity that is already known to us?

Snoke is a new character, at least I hope he is. Like I said at the top, new galaxy for a new trilogy, and that means new characters

8. What’s your favorite SW movie?

Its a pretty common answer but Empire Strikes Back. Its definitely the middle point of the OT but everything just fits so nicely. Plus little 7 year old me watching it for the first time was amazed to see the heroes actually lose for once

9. Which Rey’s character design do you prefer - the one from TFA or the new one from TLJ?

TLJ, by a long shot. The TFA look was nice, but she looked a little too “desert waif” to be running around Starkiller without severe risk of hypothermia. The TLJ look (at least the awesome looking vaguely Jedi-ish robes I’ve seen) look a lot better on her

10. Which name would you choose for Episode IX?

The First (whatever they decide to call the inevitable new Force group). The Force has Woken up, its told the Last Jedi to pack his bags so now it needs to welcome the First of whatever group will carry on after the Jedi are finished

11. Is Kylo a virgin? (the most important question)

I’m going with no. Yes he spent a lot of his formative years traveling the galaxy with his uncle (and I doubt Luke is much of a wingman) but we do know that he spent years following Luke while he acquired new students from across the galaxy. Its probable that Ben helped teach some of them. So you’ve got mid-20′s Adam Driver crossed with Hot for Teacher and the trademark Solo charm. If he hasn’t, he had offers.
