Ok, with beast boy’s og costume, you like the mask, hate the red and white color scheme.

Any thoughts on raven’s og look from the 80s? Her normal cloak over an evening gown and pumps. Fashion wise, I think it looks great, but it doesn’t seem to fit her personality wise, not then and definitely not now.

Though I imagine a modern story could call back to it, having her forced to wear the ensemble for a formal event.

Really not a huge fan of the 80's costume. I like the earrings gleaming under the shadow of the hood, but pumps? Really? Though yeah I agree it could be a fun callback in a formal outfit for her.

For me, on a design level, Raven is one of those characters where, I like her so much and she has so much going on that I'm pretty much never satisfied with whatever look they give her. DC Superhero Girls? Ew. Bombshells? Corny and lazy. Injustice? UGLAY. I know with the 03 show, the leotard had a lot of haters, but I honestly liked the leotard--I was in gymnastics as a kid, so I always thought there was something very elegant and ballet-adjacent with the long-sleeved black leotard, and this leotard also had the additional cool factor of the high neck. It's sleek, it's graceful, it's the look that made me fall in love with Raven's character to begin with. Plus, it was sportier than the high cut half-your-ass-hanging-out evening gown, and that meshed well with the overall looks of the team on that show despite her powers being more magic based than superhero sci-fi like the rest of the team. I also kind of like that it was slightly offset by those soft-looking short boots--those and the gem accents and the little sleeve cuff things added a little fantasy element to the outfit. I WILL say the DCAMU won me over on the sleeveless + long gloves combo by making them fingerless gloves.

I don't like when Raven's outfits incorporate too much of a 'bird' theme. So much of the time feathers just make her outfit look terribly busy, or it really doesn't match her restrained cool attitude at all. I do admire the ballsiness of the New 52 weird feather bone Griffith-Berserk-Eclipse-looking helm, but that look never really felt like Raven, at least it didn't feel like a Raven who was herself, if that makes sense.

For me, the ideal Raven look is one that brings to mind night and water, sleek silhouettes, fabrics that hang with a certain sense of weight but can also swish and sweep around dramatically. She's more of a shadow than a bird, to me. My design challenge for DC artists is "Forget about the bird thing for 10 seconds: How do we indicate to people that this is a half-demon interdimensional wizard girl, without making her outfit too busy?" Gem element good. Feathers bad. Don't worry about the bird--she can literally bring her own bird to the party with her Soul-Self.

I actually do like outfits of hers that turn the high-cut dress into more of a surcoat/overdress for like... a full superhero black bodysuit underneath. I am not a fan of the transparent looking tights, either make them opaque or keep her legs bare--sheer tights is just such a weird middle ground that doesn't feel like something she'd wear.

But yeah, anyway this is how picky I am when it comes to Raven's designs, haha.

how to get the prissy grl look

hair:

i’m a natural bouncy curl girl. depending on the weather and my time, there’s a good chance I’m wearing my hair in it’s curly state

- with just a bit of leave in conditioner and and oil on my scalp.

although I love the ease and the natural beauty of my curls, I prefer my hair straightened.

- I feel I look more mature and sleek that way. it’s also very hot opposed to the sweet soft and innocent look i think my natural hair gives. and oddly, it’s less maintenance but gives the illusion of being higher maintenance.

I used to love my hair bone straight, with my curtain bangs and a part down the middle. but lately my style has been shifting towards bombshell curls on straightened hair with a flipped bang and side part. my hair is pretty long (about an inch past my bra hook) so that gives me room for versatility which I love so I’ll switch it up every now and then

- my fav styles include: half up half down style (fave omg) or flexi rod set creating loose beach waves on my hair, loose messy bun

fashion:

bougie girl 101!!! is my closet!!

color palette: black, white, gray, midtone pink, and browns/nudes. it enforces my ethereal, hyper girly brand. the color I wear most often has to be BLACK. i swear it is the sexiest color to exist and it makes me look amazing and feel even better.

- i love one piece bodysuits, again, so sexy on me.

loungewear is very special to me. it takes up more than half of my wardrobe overall. and if styled correctly, it can be worn out

- one of my fav things to do is finish my head to toe routine and throw on a pair of my victoria’s secret slippers, comfy matching lingerie and a matching lounge set.

i also have MANY fuzzy/faux fur pieces in my collection. these including bags, shoes, tops, etc.

rhinestones are a staple in my closet. i have so many tops that have sassy sayings in rhinestones. one of my favs being my “high maintenance” rhinestones tank top.

animal prints are my SIGNATURE more specifically leopard print; i am a true cheetah girl. i have everything from purses, head accessories, tops, notebooks, etc in cheetah print

- my fav features to show off: my legs, feet, and collarbone

- some more elements i enjoy: thin dainty chain detailing, velour, small heart details, satin, tartan, saffiano, charms

makeup:

perfect. i love to look perfect. never too done looking because i hate the cakey, obvious look. i love the soft glam, fresh face routine i use.

i shape my brows by adding short little hairs to my tail going upward on the arch part. i like my brows nice and thin with that meagan good arch. i like them lighter in the front and darker and sharp on the end. i ofc finish my brows off with foundation and a concealer brush.

then i buff a radiant concealer on my eyelids and blend that with the concealer or foundation i used around my brows.

i prime my face with maybelline poreless primer for that soft and blurry skin look.

- final touches: inner corner highlight, arch highlight, and nose bridge highlight + smooth and bright undereye

- big soft pretty pink kissable lips!! *or nude*

bronzed and blushed cheeks *come to think of it i only really contour my nose now, i use bronzer everywhere else*

nails:

i literally never wear anything but pink, white or a creamy pinky nude, and yes this includes french tips

i do my own feet, i just don’t trust salons to really get my feet as perfect as possible. they always cut my nails too short or give a WEAK exfoliation. no. i’d rather do it myself.

i don’t believe in white toe supremacy when my hands are another color. i like my nails to match. if my fingers are frenched out so are my toes. but my go to color that i’m wearing most of the time is it’s a girl’ by opi and a matching gel for my hands.

accessories:

hoops r my signature acc. i’m literally recognizable to ppl who don’t even know my name. they’re the simplest feminine addition to my looks.

45. Halloween Party

It has, what with everything, taken a long time to get the band back together. But there is a certain guilty and undeniable advantage to a) having rich friends and b) persuading said rich friends that everyone misses each other and deserves a chance to have a good time without committing quite so many crimes. As such, the end result is that Nikolai and Zoya have rented out a party boat in New York Harbor, and an appropriately themed bacchanal is going on aboard it. Pumpkins, orange-and-black streamers, dancing skeletons, apple cider, tall white candles with (fake) flames, and a full array of tasty fall goodies, the whole nine. The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack has featured heavily in rotation, and, Nina thinks fondly, the sight of all her friends belting out "Oogie Boogie's Song" in unison, more or less (often less) in key, is certainly a memory for the ages.

She adjusts her sparkly witch hat and equally sparkly bodice, which is cut low enough that Matthias's eyes almost popped out of his head when he first saw her costume. He himself is dressed like a Viking, which means that Nikolai-the-knight has wasted no opportunity to challenge him to a succession of mildly homoerotic swordfights. Nina catches Zoya-the-dragon's gaze from across the deck, and they roll their eyes at their respective husbands' antics. "Don't make too much of a mess, Kolya," Zoya calls. "I am planning on getting that security deposit on this boat back, you know."

Nikolai is too busy to respond, and Nina snorts, figures that unless somebody actually breaks a bone it's best to leave the boys to it, and turns away. She sidles up next to Inej, who is standing at the rail in her dazzling black-and-red harlequin costume: mask, bodysuit, feathers, and a remarkable ability to disappear and reappear across the party at will. "It's good to see you," Nina says to her best friend, draping her arm around Inej's shoulders. "It's been too long."

"It has." Inej smiles around at the gathering: Jesper, decked out extravagantly as Baron Samedi, and Wylan as one of his stylish voodoo ghosts, busily trying to stack a pyramid of drinks as high as possible without dropping any of them. In true Kaz fashion, Kaz has refused to wear a costume aside from his usual suit and fedora, so everyone has been referring to him as "Don Corleone" all evening just to see him wince. Then, of course, there is Fedyor, in daringly short Roman toga and laurel wreath, as Mark Antony, and Ivan -- beautiful, haughty, and absolutely daring anybody to say a single word at all -- making full use of his drag-queen expertise to pull off a truly bombshell Cleopatra. Even Nina was stunned when he came out of the bedroom looking like that, and she and Matthias have been staying with them. Oh, Ivan. Never change.

"Happy Halloween," Nina says to Inej, hugging her quickly, as Nikolai loudly announces that there are fireworks, and she suspects that now might be the time to intervene before everything really gets carried away. "I'm glad you're all here."

The Heartless (I)

Here’s a version of the gang I made with Illustrator. These cuties are some of the Heartless that you will find along your journey in the Kingdom Hearts saga. 

Below you’ll find design descriptions of each Heartless. The Illustrations are mine and the descriptions were found at KHWiki. Enjoy!

Shadow

Pureblood Heartless. A normal Shadow has a vaguely humanoid body structure. It has a round, spherical head with circular, glowing yellow eyes. It also has two long, twisted antennae sprouting out of the top of its head. Each of its hands has three clawed fingers, and its feet are large and lack any discernible digits.

The Shadow's name is a reference to a shadow, highlighting its status as the most basic type of Heartless. The name could also be a reference to the Shadow's ability to flatten itself into a silhouette on the ground, and become a literal shadow.

Red Nocturne

Emblem Heartless. The Red Nocturne has a smooth, conical, red body with a Heartless emblem emblazoned on its chest. The top of its body flares outward and forms a jagged "collar" below the Heartless's spherical, pitch black head. It also wears a conical, yellow hat that has a jagged brim and a thin, curled tip. Like many Heartless, the Red Nocturne has glowing yellow eyes. Its seemingly useless feet sport three small, thin toes.

Like other Heartless in its family, the Red Nocturne's name is comprised of a color—in this case, red—and a musical term—in this case, a nocturne, which is usually a musical composition that is inspired by, or evocative of, the night.

Rapid Thruster

A Rapid Thruster has a spherical, black head with glowing, yellow eyes and a jagged mouth. Its head is surrounded by a large, two-pronged, beak-like helmet that sports a black spike on either of its sides. The helmet itself is orange and the Heartless emblem is on its top. Its body is also spherical, black, and only slightly larger than its head. It lack arms, and its legs are thin and do not have distinct digits. It has a propeller attached to its rear that it uses to fly. Its neck and body are separated by a thin, cyan line.

The Rapid Thruster's name refers to its speed—hence, "rapid"—and the propeller on its back—a "thruster" is a propulsion device.

Large Body

Nearly spherical in shape, Large Bodies also have massive arms and hands, short legs, huge feet, and tiny heads. These blue-skinned Heartless are clothed in a purple sleeveless bodysuit edged in gold trim; the trim also laces up the front of the body suit across a Large Body's big belly. Along with black curl-toe shoes and black silver-trimmed pants, Large Bodies also boast a massive manacle in purple and silver on each wrist; three links of chain dangle from each of them, and are used as effective weapons. They are topped off by a high silver collar that covers their lower face, and a tiny silver wizard hat that ends in a traditional Heartless curl. As per many other Heartless, Large Bodies have shadowed faces and yellow eyes, but it also has a dark zigzagged mouth.

The Large Body's name references the size of the Heartless's round, bloated body.

Blue Rhapsody

A Blue Rhapsody, true to its name, has a smooth, conical, blue body with a Heartless emblem emblazoned on its chest. The top of its body flares outward and forms a jagged "collar" below the Heartless's spherical, pitch black head. It also wears a conical, yellow hat with a jagged brim and a thin, curled tip. Like many Heartless, the Blue Rhapsody has glowing yellow eyes. Its seemingly useless feet sport three small, thin toes.

Like most of the other Heartless in its family, the Blue Rhapsody's name is comprised of a color—in this case, blue—and a musical term—in this case, a rhapsody, an instrumental composition of irregular form, often incorporating improvisation. The name could also be derived from George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue", a popular musical piece that was featured in Disney's Fantasia 2000.

Hook Bat

The Hook Bat's body is small and oval-shaped; short ears sprout out of the top of its head. Its eyes are small and glow yellow; its Heartless emblem is on its chest. Its mouth is jagged, and its large wings are attached to either of its sides, each sporting a silver spike close to the Heartless's head. The Hook Bat's body is blue, except for the tips of its ears and wings, which are navy blue. A short, silver chain connects the Heartless's body to a large, red hook with a yellow base.

The Hook Bat's name references the fact that it resembles a real-world bat, as well as the hook attached to its body.

Minute Bomb

A Minute Bomb has a thin, armless body with short, thin legs without feet. Its head is spherical and is blue, the same color as its body. Its head is covered by two halves of a dark brown shell resembling a stereotypical bomb. A large, jagged opening around the middle of the shell exposes the Heartless's glowing, yellow eyes. The top half of the bombshell sports a long, white fuse. Its Heartless emblem is present on the front of the top half of the shell.

The Minute Bomb's name obviously refers to its explosive attack method and resemblance to stereotypical bombs. "Minute" could refer to its rather small size, or to the time measurement "minute", which could refer to its fuse, though the Heartless itself detonates far faster than one minute.

Search Ghost

Search Ghosts are well-designed for their appearances in areas where a spooky atmosphere is required. Pale-skinned and bearing the classic footless ghost shape of Japanese folklore, they are clad in purple tunics bearing the Heartless emblem. The sleeves of the tunic end in white cuffs with gold cuff links, but the fashionable nature of the tunic is ruined a bit by the torn hemline and a rip on the left side that exposes the Search Ghosts' ribcage. Search Ghosts also wear white cuffed gloves, but noticeably, there is no flesh or skin connecting the sleeves of the tunic to the Ghosts' hands, only a disturbing empty gap.

Search Ghosts also bear the traditional Heartless jagged jawline and yellow eyes; however, their wide yellow eyes have black angled spirals on them. In addition, the right eye has been pulled out of the socket, and is only held to the head by a length of silver chain. The Ghosts' remaining good eye is what they use to search for their prey, emitting a yellow glow while looking, and with the glow turning red when a target has been spotted.

The Search Ghost's name references its nature of looking for enemies with a rotating searchlight. The Heartless's name also highlights its ghost-like appearance.

Salty and Sweet ch. 5

Warnings: mild swearing

Jane pulled into her driveway, closely followed by Sweet Pea on his motorcycle. As she got out of her car, she noticed Sweet Pea observing her home. True, it was small and quaint for the Northside, but that’s all she and her mother could ever need and afford.

“I’ll be right back out, I’m going to change.” Jane called to Sweet Pea, and he gave her a nod.

“Make it snappy, shortcake.”

Jane rolled her eyes and ran up the stone steps to her house, noticing her mom was gone from work. She used this moment to run upstairs to her room and pull on a black long sleeved bodysuit with a low-ish neckline and a pair of high waisted ripped jeans. She completed her look with a pair of silver hooped earrings. As a last minute decision, Jane decided on some deep red lipstick. After spritzing herself with her vanilla scented perfume, Jane made her way back outside to Sweet Pea.

“Sorry to keep you waiting.” she said, and his eyes flicked up to meet hers, traveling from her lips to her chest, then quickly back to meet her gaze.

��Dont you look spiffy,” Sweet Pea commented, and Jane found herself blushing once again. He handed her his spare helmet and she tugged it on over her curls. “You better hold on, Princess.” he scooted up to give her space to climb on behind him, and she swung a leg over and found herself holding the seat. “Hold onto me, you goon.” Sweet Pea laughed.

Jane let out a nervous chuckle before gripping either side of Sweet Pea’s denim vest.

The pair pulled out of her driveway and sped down the road, across the tracks and into the Southside. Jane loved the feeling of the wind on her face as Sweet Pea cruised along. It was a rush of adrenaline, really. She’d never been on the back of a boy’s bike before.

Eventually, they stopped near a driveway of a house that was already crowded with some bikes and beater cars, there were people out on the lawn, red solo cups and cans in hands. Sweet Pea shut off the engine and pulled his helmet off, which encouraged Jane to do the same, but not before She caught a whiff of a strong scented shampoo. Damn he smelled good.

“Here we are,” Sweet Pea swing himself off the bike and held the handle bars while Jane hobbled off, nearly losing her balance when her food got stuck on the seat, but the tall Serpent was quick to catch her. “Did I leave you weak in the knees, little girl?” he said with a grin, and she gave him a sour look before straightening herself and letting go of his arm. Sweet Pea kicked out the kick-stand and put both of the helmets back on his bike. The house was thrumming with the beat of a song that came from inside.

“Hope you’re ready for a Southside party. Don’t go getting too drunk, it’s my ass that’s watching out for your ass.” Sweet Pea nudged her with his elbow as they made their way past the groups outside, and Jane watched as they all greeted Sweet Pea. She kept herself mostly behind him, trying not to attract much attention. The pair had barely made their way inside before Sweet Pea was engulfed in a hug.

“Pea! Man! There you are, you’re my best friend. Did you know that?” A stocker boy said as he swung his arms around Sweet Pea. Jane recognized him to be boy he was always with, the classier one from the other night at Pop’s. “Who’s this bombshell?” he indicated Jane as he let go of the taller boy.

“Fangs, cool it. She’s my plus one tonight. Meet Jane.” Sweet Pea introduced her, and Jane found herself really enjoying the way her name sounded on his lips.

“Jane, I’m Fangs. Here on the Southside, we hug when we’re drunk.” Fangs then proceeded to give Jane a bear hug. “Here, have a beer new friend Jane!” he pulled a can from the inside of his leather jacket. Jane graciously accepted it, surprised to find it was cold.

“Thanks, new friend Fangs.” Jane cracked the cam and took a sip, earning a raised brow from Sweet Pea. How could he tell she wasn’t a beer drinker?

“There you guys are! We were just about to leave, Fangs hates being at parties without his Sweetie Pie.” a rather short pink haired girl had joined them. “I’m Toni.” she said when she caught Jane’s gaze on her, and extended a hand. Jane shook it, returning the smile.

“Nice to meet you, I love your hair!” Jane exclaimed, then indicated to the purple in her own. That earned a grin from Toni.

“Purple, love it. You fit right in, it’s about time too. Being the only girl in a group of guys gets boring sometime.” Toni laughed and threw an arm around Jane.

Jane had never really be involved with a group of friends before. Just the odd friends and Freda. Shit, she forgot about Freda. Oh well, she’ll love this story on Monday morning. She took a moment to observe the three who were deep in conversation about the goings on of Talon’s party before Jane and Sweet Pea arrived.

After a couple moments, Sweet Pea took her by the sleeve when Toni and Fangs challenged each other to a game of beer pong. He led her into the kitchen where there was numerous bottles of alcohol and different mixes, and a whole cooler full of beer. “Let’s get you something better than beer.”

“Are you joking? I love beer.” Jane joked, taking a final sip, but failed in keeping a straight face and reacted to the bitterness.

Sweet Pea chuckled and pulled the can from her grasp and set it down for a hammered individual to finish. “How about some rum and coke? Vodka cran? Straight whiskey?” he grinned, pulling on the charade as bar tender.

“Vodka cran, kind sir.” Sweet Pea obliged and filled the red solo cup a quarter of the way with vodka, then the rest with cranberry juice. Jane accepted the cup and stuck her pinky in instinctively, like she would at home, mixing the drink before popping her pinky into her mouth to suck the remains off.

“Are you trying to attract me right now?” Sweet Pea asked, leaning against the counter. “Because if so, it’s working.”

Jane grinned up at him. “Not really, I needed to mix.” she shrugged, taking a gulp from her cup. “You do a good vodka to cran ratio.”

Sweet Pea smiled, and suddenly the house was quiet and it was just Sweet Pea and Jane in the house, the two of them caught eye to eye, and Sweet Pea raised an arm to tuck a curl behind Jane’s ear. Butterflies flew around her stomach and she found herself taking another drink from her cup.

“You’re cute when you’re nervous.” He told her, and she was all of a sudden forced to put her drink on the counter before Sweet Pea cupped her cheek in his hand, pressing his lips to hers. Jane felt herself kiss back, half startled but half craving more of him.

“Excuse me?” came a shrill voice from the doorway of the kitchen. Jane and Sweet Pea quickly pulled apart to find Savannah standing in the door way, looking furious. “Pea, I told you about this party and you take a Northsider and kiss her? At the party? Where I told you to come?”

“Fuck off, Savannah. Go fuck Talon or some other sorry idiot.” Sweet Pea shout back over the sound of the music, and Jane pulled back as he pushed back from the counter and towards Savannah. “You can’t keep inserting yourself into my life whenever you damn well please.”

With a scoff, Savannah spun on her heel and stormed out of the kitchen.

“I’m sorry.” Sweet Pea turned back to Jane, eyes apologetic. He extended a hand to her. “Let’s go find Fang’s and Toni.”

Jane took another gulp from her drink and graciously put her hand in Sweet Pea’s, which was big and warm and comforting. She allowed him to guide her through the body-crowded living room and to where Toni and Fangs were sprawled on the couch. Sweet Pea and Jane plopped down on the edge, dangerously close to one another. Instead of inserting herself into the conversation, Jane let the vodka clear her thoughts of Savannah. Soon her head lulled onto Sweet Pea’s shoulder.

“Hey, are you okay?” came his deep voice as his hand gently shook your arm.

Jane lifted her head to meet her gaze and found him swimming around in her vision. “I’m ready for home.” she told him. She should have remembered vodka made her sleepy.

Sweet Pea nodded and the two said their good byes to Toni and Fangs before he slipped her hand back into Jane’s and he guided her back out and onto his bike. He fasted her helmet on before his and gave her head a tap.

“I’m sorry I cut your party short.” Jane told him as they climbed back onto the bike.

“That’s okay, just make sure you hold on to me tightly, Sleepy.” Sweet Pea gave her a reassuring pat on the hand when she fisted her freezing hands into his denim vest pockets.

The two cruised back into the Northside soon enough and back up Jane’s driveway. Jane noticed her mom still wasn’t home from work, which would make it easier for her to go to bed quicker.

“Can I have your number?” Sweet Pea asked Jane as he helped her off his bike. “I think I’d like to take you out again.”

“Yeah, uh, here.” Jane took his phone and plugged her number in under the name ‘Princess’. She handed it back with a wink. “Thank you for taking me tonight. I like your friends. And your lips.” she let the vodka add, earning a chuckle from the raven haired boy.

He quickly dipped his head and caught her lips in his once again, finishing what he started at the party. This time the kiss grew deeper as he wrapped his arms around her waist and her arms twined around his neck.

It seemed as though sparks flew from between the both of them, Jane intoxicated by the taste of him instead of the vodka cran. Then her thoughts got to her. Flashbacks of the blond haired boy who took advantage of her previously. Quickly, she pulled back, and both pairs of arms dropped to their sides. “I’ll see you at school.” Jane gave him a smile, an extra kiss on the cheek and quickly ran into her house, leaving a confused but happy Sweet Pea staring after her.

The helicopter that touched down in the parking lot of your apartment complex was impressive in that it didn’t hit a single car. A red head in a black bodysuit jumped out, gun trained directly at your heart. You froze, throwing your hands up. What the fuck??

“Natasha! Jesus! Chill dude. What the hell are you doing?” Darcy threw herself in front of you, obviously pissed.

Darcy looked at you, eyebrows raised, “we don’t have to go, there’s always a choice.”

You took a deep breath and rubbed your face. This may be more difficult than you originally thought.

“No, I gotta do this. I need to know who I am. And if that lady thinks I’m dangerous, maybe I am. Let’s figure this out okay?”

Darcy nodded and grabbed your hand, silently telling you she’ll be with you the whole way.

You both climbed into the helicopter, buckling in and putting on the headsets Natasha offered to you.

“It’s going to take us about two hours to get to the compound, and that’s only because I’ll technically be breaking some air laws.” Natasha stated as she brought the helicopter up, “So if you want to sleep be my guest. Actually, Y/N, don’t sleep. Read a book.”

You just nodded, too tired to respond. While technically it was still night, you didn’t think you’d be able to sleep anyways. So much was happening in only a short amount of time and you were honestly just thankful you’d been level headed enough to change out of your pajamas. Darcy grabbed your hand and squeezed before pulling her phone out. She tapped for a few minutes and suddenly music started streaming through your headset. It instantly made you relax, but makes Natasha rolls her eyes. She didn’t stop the music however, making you think maybe she isn’t all that bad.

Wear it when you go to bed and F.R.I.D.A.Y. will be able to record your dreams too. But that one is totally up to you. I know you want to figure out what’s going on, so we’re trying our best to expedite that process.” Steve smiled a bit sadly at you. It was understandable that he would pity you. Hell, you would pity yourself if you were in his position.

“So, who’s F.R.I.D.A.Y?” You asked, looking around, half expecting there to be someone in the corner.
