thanks @anyawen for always tagging me <3 Idk who's been tagged already but let's try some of my faves, @mr-iskender @samanthahirr @boffin1710 @kitten-kin @aniron48 if any of you feel like it, would be interesting to see which ones of your works you'd pick as your favourites. I have relatively few works posted so far so I'm only going to rec three that are special somehow. To Tell The Good From Bad, Villains From Heroes Mission fic, 18 chapters, my entry for the 00Q RBB 2021. By far the longest and plottiest fic I've written so far, a NTTD fix-it of sorts, written before the movie even came out. Tenacity Another NTTD inspired piece that doesn't really fix anything, but Bond lives, if only because Q won't let him die. This fic is my personal favourite but also the outlet of all the pain that NTTD caused me, and fairly graphic. You've been warned.

The Best Proof Of Love A crossover with London Spy. WIP but fully plotted and outlined. A close collaboration with Anyawen and I believe, thanks to her, the very best I can produce - even though the reception hasn't quite been what I'd hoped for. It has also been dreadfully difficult to write at times. Still, it remains my feel-good story because I've enjoyed working on it very much and I just love the complicated relationships between all the main characters.

Summary:

Fifteen years after he walks away from everything with Madeleine Swann, an older and wiser James Bond returns to London. Looking to repair the relationships he left behind as well as seeking a kind of sanctuary for himself, a chance encounter in a café quickly shows James that things are quite different from the way they were before, particularly with his former Quartermaster who has left MI6 on an indefinite -- possibly permanent -- leave of absence.

A series of deeply traumatic events has left Q a shadow of his former self from which he may never recover unless drastic action is taken. Hoping his own experiences with loss and trauma will help, James joins forces with Q’s stalwart and resilient Personal Protection Officer and an equally devoted Giant Schnauzer to try to pull Q back from the edge, but the mess James made of his friendship with Q 15 years ago may be a barrier they can never surmount.

Time and circumstance have put a rutted road of a million miles of difference between them, but perhaps the way back to each other begins with a simple, “Hello.”

Finally Finished A Fic!

OMG y’all. I did a thing! I finally did a thing, and that is: I have finished writing a fanfic that I’ve started like, 3+ years ago. Yep, I finished it yesterday. Not done editing, because there are still some major parts I have to tweak, and of course the language could be prettier, transition smoother, etc. But, yeah, wow. Took so damn long!

Which fanfic is it? I’m glad you asked (you didn’t, but I’m going to talk about it anyway). Well, I have a nifty little tag called #cellophane in my archives, and that’s the snippets I’ve been posting off and on throughout the years. You can also probably find it under the generic #fanfic in my blog too. It’s supposed to be a standalone but has morphed into a major series, because I can’t just leave a story be, apparently. It’s also supposed to be a substitute fill for when I joined 00QRBB in, uh, 2019? I believe? The original fill got ballooned into a plot of more than 100k words, and I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it, so I wrote what I could and pretty much abandoned the whole thing. Well, I feel TERRIBLE about that, so I wrote another story in its place later, hoping at least to belatedly fulfill it. Um...I did not realize it’ll take me to June 2022 to be done! So sorry, @boffin1710 (that’s my artist), I will have something up for you, after all this time, most likely during the 007 Fest (oh btw people go sign up if you haven’t already!)

After James Bond dies in a hail of missiles on Safin’s island, Q wrestles not only with his grief but with his anger toward Six and his own culpability in Bond’s death. Deciding it’s time for some changes in his life, Q’s wanderings manage to bring him some clarity and healing, but an encounter with the impossible shows him he can’t escape his past. Rather than shun it, Q seizes the opportunity to atone for his mistakes, leading him to a resurrection of hopes and dreams he never knew he even had.

Bookmarker's Notes:

It's now been 268 days since I first wept when Daniel Craig's version of James Bond realised he was going to sacrifice himself for the great good. i.e. Die.

Did I know it was coming? Not really, but I also intentionally didn't dig into how that movie would end because I didn't want to know.

What I did know is that experiencing the arc of that story (See James find out he's a father. See James return to protect his child + the woman he loved. See James nearly outsmart the villain. Etc.) physically shocked me. It happened all over again the five times I saw the movie. I didn't cry each time, but whenever Mallory began reading those lines by London + we saw Q throw back ALL of his toast to Bond, something rankled.

Until I read the first few chapters of this story I just didn't realise how.much.it.rankled. Because y'know, anticipation, see the movie, analyse it, read some fics, etc. But. Now it's July 2022 + we're three days into this year's 007 Fest, my first as a participant. And THIS WORK, this creation by the amazing @boffin1710 + @dassandre-00qpidsarrow has brought me to tears several times. Speaking for myself, which is all I can do, it has created a vessel for my unresolved issues about the movie to roam around like a maelstrom and sort themselves out.

That's all I'm going to say here because you, Dear Reader, owe it to yourself to go on this adventure for your own experience.
