Something had me thinking a lot about Breath of Fire V/Dragon Quarter, so I ended up drawing Ryu and Bosch today.
Well, I sketched it out the other day, did the lines mostly last night, and then colored it today, haha.
...I replayed the final boss a whole lot because it was fun to watch the ending, back when I was younger. Between that and having the art book and the soundtrack to the game, BOFV is very firmly engraved into my memories. OwO
Got this one over on twitter too.

just watched ep 1 of Hierarchy on Netflix
very typical rich kid school k-drama plot; the acting's a bit out of place and there's nothing extremely fresh or attention-catching, but i'm hooked enough to keep going.
the whole revenge thing does make things a bit more interesting, even though it was already kind of obvious lol. the last time i recall seeing this specific plot (poor kid enters rich kid school to avenge their dead sibling) though was in BoF - so a looong time ago - but in that case the younger sibling was treated as an antagonist, while here he's the protagonist.
love the drama of the final scene, i really wasn't expecting her to kiss him back. also, that was... definitely an angle choice.
again, i'm invested enough that i want to see where this is going. on to ep 2.
#spoilers under the cut ig? for bof too in case there's someone who somehow never watched that or other hana yori dango adaptations#v rambles#hierarchy#netflix hierarchy#k-drama#kdrama#k drama#korean drama#netflix drama#my posts

oh man, i'm clearing off my desktop and i found this .txt from when i had reached a breaking point of annoyance about the fandom (mostly netflix, sorry about that show) constantly referring to jaskier as "bard" ...
this bothered me because, as i recalled, he is most often referenced as "poet" or "troubadour," whenever mentioned by his profession. especially for what he calls himself, what others who esteem him well (e.g., geralt) call him, or what the narration calls him.
(then there's also the titles of lesser frequency, like "musician," "minstrel," "singer," "poetaster," "rhymester," but these are less frequent, e.g., geralt bof 5 "a poetaster with a lute," regis ttos 3 "our minstrel," rience boe 1 "nasty rhymester" ... rience sucks, but he was right about that one, you gotta admit).
asides from the fact that dandelion seems to self-identify with "poet and musician," (eternal flame i) i just find "bard" so generic, like it's just a catch-all term for someone in a fantasy setting that sings, like the d&d class. it doesn't actually reflect the full roles of his profession: that he writes, he is connected with the concept of poetry and writing, and as such, aspects of his character can be considered a satire of writers. and that his poetic personality runs contrary to geralt's banal realism.
so, in my annoyance i used went and counted all the times in the last wish that he is referenced by his profession (i apparently only cared enough about this to do the first book). i noted what word was used and who said it.
anyways guess what. my hypothesis was right 😎 coming in at over half his mentions by profession, he is called "poet." so hah! he is a poet, i remembered correctly.
(fwiw, this is using the english translation, and just calling to attention that it might have been different in polish. after all - i recall from the lost in translation series something interesting about "poetaster" in a little sacrifice, drouhard almost calls him this, like "one who strings rhymes together" (edit: got it: "He was originally going for “wierszokleta,” or roughly “one who carelessly puts rhymes together.”))
Poet Voice of Reason 2, Narration Voice of Reason 5, Nenneke Voice of Reason 5, Geralt Voice of Reason, Narration Voice of Reason, Narration Voice of Reason, Narration Voice of Reason, Narration Voice of Reason, Narration Edge of the World i, Narration Edge of the World i, Narration Edge of the World i, Geralt Edge of the World i, Dandelion Edge of the World i, Narration Edge of the World ii, Narration Edge of the World ii, Narration Edge of the World iii, Narration Edge of the World iii, Narration Edge of the World iii, Narration Edge of the World iv, Narration Edge of the World iv, Narration Edge of the World vi, Narration Edge of the World vi, Narration Edge of the World vi, Narration Edge of the World vi, Narration Edge of the World vii, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish ii, Narration The Last Wish ii, Errdil The Last Wish iii, Geralt The Last Wish v, Narration The Last Wish v, Narration The Last Wish vii, Narration The Last Wish vii, Narration Voice of Reason 7, Narration Voice of Reason 7, Narration Troubadour Voice of Reason 2, Narration Voice of Reason 5, Narration Edge of the World i, Narration Edge of the World iii, Narration Edge of the World vi, Narration Edge of the World vi, Narration Edge of the World vii, Narration Edge of the World vii, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish ii, Errdil The Last Wish ii, Chireadan The Last Wish v, Narration The Last Wish vii, Yennefer Voice of Reason 7, Narration Bard Voice of Reason 5, Narration Edge of the World i, Narration Edge of the World ii, Narration Edge of the World iii, Narration Edge of the World iii, Narration Edge of the World iv, Narration Edge of the World vii, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish i, Narration The Last Wish vii, Narration The Last Wish vii, Narration The Last Wish vii, Narration Musician Edge of the World vi, Toruviel Edge of the World vi, Toruviel The Last Wish iii, Geralt Lutenist Edge of the World vi, Toruviel
just to say that jaskier IN THE BOOKS is a poet. n*tflix jaskier is a bard. this is a trifle in the broader sense of things, yet another element which distinguishes the characters and everything else between canons
#the witcher books#c: dandelion#jaskier#sorry the way i write my thoughts out is insufferable. i really am not as serious as i seem. i just dont know how to present myself better#also btw i think about 'blow on a cow's horn you savage' like biweekly if not weekly

This scene was something else...
The way his face changes.
It almost pains me to swoon at just how genuinely good KSH is because I have never gotten as many crazies coming after me* as I did with his fans going insane in my inbox because I was not shipping FL with his character in Start Up (the drama itself was not bad but the watching experience was so unpleasant that it put me off anyone involved in it, actor or writer, for years) and it gave me a totally irrational but understandable aversion to the man.
(*) OK, actually probably tied with insane Gu Hye Sun fans coming after me back in BOF and similar days because I said she couldn't act.
I went from liking him a lot after Catch the Ghost to wishing never to see his name mentioned around me again after Start Up (seriously, I have never seen a kdrama bring out this level of crazy in fandom and I lived through the You're Beautiful v IRIS thing as well as Boys Over Flowers AND Moon Lovers and more.) I didn't check HCCC when it first aired in part because I am not much for romcoms but in part because just seeing his name made me twitch like someone who drank 17 espressos.
Usually, when I am that no-go on actors it's because I dislike their acting or (more rarely) they are a felon. KSH was unique in giving me the twitch reaction not for anything he's ever done but for crazies fangirling him.
BUT
2020 @dangermousie is probably watching me in disbelief at fangirling the man but without his insane fandom driving me up the wall, I got to rediscover that he's genuinely genuinely amazing. Tbh, it makes me feel just as annoyed at the crazies as I did back then if for a different reason - like your insanity almost made me miss out on an awesome drama and an awesome performance (and possibly other good performances he might have in the future) because you can't act like a semi-functional human being. I am pretty sure I was not the only one who went from "he's a solid actor" to "god noooo!" after all that lunacy which cannot possibly be a reaction any sane fan would want to evoke for the object of their obsession but what do I know.
Anyway, rant over.

HELP i forgot i had in my drafts the dreadful stream of consciousness that's behind the cut - slightly out of date supplementary material for this meme days WEEKS ago tagged by @brofisting and @phneltwrites. re. the question 'what are you watching'. MDL list expounded on after the jump
Boys Over Flowers - the Korean version from 2009 - I started watching this ages ago on netflix and have been stalled about halfway through for MONTHS. It's good for learning about wild problematic old shojo tropes - some of which resurface in bl drama obv, it IS interesting to make the comparison. And I wanted to see another version of this story other than F4 Thailand (which i really liked). Unfortunately BOF 2009 eps are long and big chunks of them are....... . bad....... or just very slow ... SAVE me from the interminable episode(s) where they all go on holiday to the maldives . and the one where they race horses. (it's not just that it's 'old' bc Coffee Prince is pristine perfection and that was made in 2007!)
Fish Upon The Sky - so THIS i have now actually finished. I know this series is fairly divisive - I know a lot of people REALLY did not enjoy it - in particular seems like didn't like the characters. personally i - mostly - Really enjoyed this*... people will say 'pi is annoying!' and to this i say YES and that's why i love him. I Love the totally deranged turned-up-to-eleven romcom plotting i love that he somehow managed to kiss the WRONG BOY in the club.... I love that he's SO determined to pursue the boy he (THINKS HE!) likes - I love the moment when you THINK he's finally going to be honest w himself only to DOUBLE DOWN! on his mission. I love the pseudo-date with mork where he gets drunk and checks his TEETH. he's a classic stubborn misguided romcom lead and i Enjoy that phuwin makes this characterisation quite extreme, there's a kind of reservoir of anguish behind it all that sharpens up the whole series. and pond is clearly Not the most experienced actor but also genuinely great at looking totally whipped.
crash landing on you - I am something like five or six or seven eps into this and going slowly bc I'm watching with someone else. what can i say. it is Thee het kdrama of recent years! it's fantastic
Devil Judge - I began this AGES ago but again I am stalled a few eps in. I started it bc people kept mentioning it in the same breath as Beyond Evil and it was obviously u know . Homoerotic. Tick!! Unfortunately for me it suffers by comparison to BE, it currently just seems ... sillier ...... The homoerotic stuff is much more textual which should be a plus but I am simply not enjoying the Flavour as much.
Enchante - i am Giving ForceBook A Chance bc 1. they're going to be in Only Friends, 2. I Dooo like the look of their next series, the office one. I am 7 eps in and it still feels very VERY slight - I kind of don't really GET it. is there really much to get. But FB doooo have nice chemistry. Fond and easy! For some reason I keep thinking of old hollywood when I try to pin them down mentally. like. Fred and Ginger in this scene. this is forcebook in enchante. TO ME
my school president - I am behind on this (boo). it IS very sweet, I think I am not QUITE as into it as some people on bl tumblr (blblr??) - I can definitely get put off things if they get too nice and too sweet and the first few eps kind of .. felt like that might happen. but ep 6 was an absolute banger, v strong episode, v well structured. Also I often struggle with side pairings but I think the side pair here are really well done.
the warp effect - WACKY WHOLESOME FUN. what if thirteen going on thirty was eighteen going on twenty-eight and also was a boy and also was kind of like netflix's sex education. jojo killing it. Silvy killing it! Fluke Pusit killing it! I have no particular attachment to New as an actor and i guess i ... am less interested in him actually solving the mystery than I am in Every other character & storyline in this series. inc. the most whimsical depiction of puppy play u will probably ever see. And casual nbd trans inclusion of a kind Thailand can do really well.
never let me go - it took me the first couple of eps to fully warm up to this and I think ep 1 is possibly better on a second viewing - the ambiguity to palm and nueng's interactions is maybe better served by knowing the end-of-ep reveal that palm has already been assigned to look after nueng. and I Really enjoy the fleshing-out of the class division between them, the breakfast scene, palm's dad saying that PALM has to enforce the division between them. (If I think about Cutie Pie and Kinnporsche, which both dealt with Rich People - they just didn't focus much on the class stuff. Or handwaved it. And porsche was fully merlin'ing every job anyway. Anyway I appreciate what NLMG is doing w this) the awful situation at school - nueng getting bullied BECAUSE he's rich - feels very plausible. the business side of things feels sketched in enough for me to believe it. The romance side of things - I LIKE that it has built up so carefully. it has not been... crazy stuff from the start it's been all significant staring and not knowing how to behave around each other. Fear and nervousness and ambiguity and not Saying anything. it's like a helenish fanfiction. The wholllleeeee show feels so fraught so foreboding - everyone so trapped - heart in my MOUTH whenever I watch it. Ofc I fear for them!! But also I have a level of trust that whatever happens will be well done. OH yeah also perth and chimon REALLY good in their support roles. perth especially doing an incredible performance of 'boy who's about to throw up out of jealousy'
MIDNIGHT MOTEL. offjan supremacy ... pragmatic approach to sex work... neolouis!!! .... For plot function reasons I can see why the thing they make has to be an app but they appear to be using iphones & I do think that apple would not approve an app to go on the appstore that was for buying sex from sex workers. THAT aside. it's fiction whatever. . I feel like it would have made a really neat little movie if it was a bit more sharply written and was condensed down a bit. it's fun it's fine I enjoy it
#*... with uh the obvious exception of the ... weird bad brownface bit w some of the supporting chars in ep3 or 4...! why did they do that!#boys over flowers#fish upon the sky#midnight motel#never let me go#enchante#the warp effect#my school president#the devil judge#crash landing on you#mdl#kdrama#bl drama#memes#i did a wordcount it's like 1000 words after the jump SIGH

Breath of Fire & me
I discovered the Breath of Fire games with one of my best friend. It was the third on PS1 (1998 in France). It was also one of the rare game to be translated in french but my god, this french translation was hilariously bad.
A few examples of the translation : EN : Have you seen the ship ? FR : As-tu vu le mouton ? (sheep instead of ship)
EN : Let's go ! FR : Laissez-nous partir ! (Let us leave !)
Back then I was around 15yo and already admiring dragons. Knowing that you could transform into a dragon was more than enough to make me want to play the game. My very generous friend shared his Playstation to me and my brother so we could play and discover tons of games like Final Fantasy VII (first FF in Europe).
So I played BoF III a lot and I believe this game is one of the first one to slightly open the furry world to me. I really loved the dragons in BoF III and also Rei's design, an anthro-tiger, the twins anthro-horses Balio & Sunder... There was also Garr's massive body. I also loved how some of the monsters were animated (especially monsters with a fat belly, this opened another door that Heart of Darkness completly destroyed a few months later).
I liked having a party of mostly non human characters fighting against what is basically the cult of a bigotted goddess. Also liked having two endings, one very bad and a good one, which I didn't knew at the time but was a common thing in the Breath of Fire games.
Then came Breath of Fire IV. I remember hoping that it would be a direct sequel to the third one but nah, it's a new story despite one recurring character (Momo). I also loved this game and I still remember how shocked I was when I choose the bad ending, and slightly annoyed that the good ending did not end the story of one of the main antagonist.
I decided to then play Breath of Fire 2 and also loved this one despite how slow it is and how many random battle there is. The game is very generous for a 16-bit game, there's a lot to do and even three endings this time, one happening if you refuse to go check a cave near the end of the game. The game asks you multiple times if you refuse and if you insist, you not only get a bad ending, but a game over and have to reload a save.
The other two endings are pretty good and strangely I prefer the "bad" ending ; it kinda looks canon to BoF III opening (but boi did I head tears hearing the "You must live !" theme song during the ending).
I miss this series a lot. It meant a lot to me and while I didn't liked BoF V Dragon Quarter at all, I would love Capcom to at least acknowledge their franchise.

Rest and rock in Peace, Dame V, High Priestess of Punk. . . . . . . From @bof: Vivienne Westwood, the maverick UK fashion designer whose five-decade career originated in the mid-1970s punk movement in London and who remained devoted to its ethos of anti-establishment agitation throughout her life, has died at the age of 81. Her brand announced the news of her death on its social accounts. At the dawn of the punk era, Westwood, with her then partner Malcolm McLaren, helped to invent its “look” with designs that ranged from shredded T-shirts to bondage suits, emblazoned with anarchist symbols, Nazi swastikas, inverted crucifixes and words like “DESTROY.” Dressing the Sex Pistols, who McLaren managed and promoted, she created a vocabulary of provocation that would not only shake up British fashion of the times, but also go on to define her own runway collections and influence the work of generations of designers to come. A working-class girl from Derbyshire, who was largely untrained in fashion, Westwood was a primary school art teacher when she met McLaren in 1965 at the age of 24, already a young mother and separated from her first husband. Within a few years, she became the spikey-haired high priestess of punk who commanded London’s burgeoning counter-cultural movement while selling Teddy Boy clothes and bondage jeans from a cult retailer on the King’s Road. That she would ultimately be perceived as one of the most influential British designers of the 20th century, and alternatively as a batty eccentric for her political fulminations against consumerism and capitalism, underscored Westwood’s position as a fiercely independent creator who would help shape but never quite fit into the mainstream. “We wanted to undermine the establishment,” Westwood once said. “We hate it. We want to destroy it. We don’t want it. We were youth against age, that’s what it was.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CmxVihdPgDS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Gaming + Fashion? If this were the 2000's, we'd all be laughing at this collaboration - but it is 2024, it is serious and it is here
'Roblox to Sell Physical Goods Through Shopify Integration' reads the headline for one of Business of Fashion's (BoF) September 6th articles.
Hello y'all!
Today we're going to be talking about the integration of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) into gaming and fashion.
The gaming world is no stranger to the use of AR and VR, from games like Gran Turismo incorporating VR into GT 7 - “Witnessing the same Gran Turismo 7 we know and love, but now in VR without the hangups felt liberating. Like Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, finally, the potential of virtual reality for driving games on console has been realized,” writes Thomas Harrison-Lord in his opinion piece for Motorsport - to Fortnite providing interactive experiences to its users in the form of virtual concerts (popularly called V-concerts) featuring artists the likes of Travis Scott, BTS, Diplo, and Ariana Grande.
And Roblox - the online game platform and game creation system that allows users to program and play games created by themselves or other users - is already familiar with using VR to branch out of the gaming world.
Similar to Fortnite, Roblox’s V-concerts also boast an impressive resume - from Lil Nas X and Zara Larsson to Twenty One Pilots - the platform is accustomed to using Gen AI to create and deliver unique experiences to its users.
So I see Roblox’s latest partnership with Shopify as an effort to diversify its portfolio and an opportunity for both profit and exploration. According to BoF’s review of a demo video, users would be able to see “a 'Buy Now' prompt next to a virtual T-shirt that calls up an e-commerce product page where they can see photos of the physical item, select colors or sizing and make their purchase.
Customers will be able to pay using any method accepted in the seller’s online store, according to Shopify. Purchasing will be restricted to users 13 and older.”
I believe that Roblox, with its loyal customer base, can help boost Shopify’s sales (and earn commission in return, if they choose to include that in their partnership), while also boosting user activity on the gaming platform using social media and word-of-mouth to market its foray into the world of metaverse fashion.
BoF’s article states that “The companies said the integration will start to roll out soon, with a larger launch arriving in early 2025.” So it shall remain to be seen whether or not Roblox can indeed successfully leverage VR and what impact, if any, will the partnership make on Shopify’s sales.
Until next time,
Cheers!

quite frankly a bizarre movie for a bizarre show… so, enjoyable despite the frustrations, and a v. cute ending.
certainly a better ending than mg02 or bof
little bit surprised that yuki/soujirou subplot from s1&2… doesn’t change at all. which is disappointing tbh!!! i was kinda curious to see their manga subplot play out. while soujirou running away from yuki could be his way of teasing her, it’s just. i did want some progress, is all!!!

Rebel Moon (part 1)
youtube
Apparemment, j'avais beaucoup trop d'espoir.
👎 Bof! (grosse déception)

Countinuing.....On the other hand,as we are reminded in the pandemic;so too does living with animals -whether as source of food ,as companions ,or as commensals (like rats)Urbon settlements naturally tend towards other things too: property rights ;writting systems ; social and economic hierarchies and such .What is interesting however ,is that the Indus valley civilisation differs from others because inequality levels were far lower than other locations .The likely answer is because the indus ,unlike the other rivers, changed course often .That meant that the the location bof the best land changed , sometimes each year. And that meant the structure of the society was different.Fasceating. There are plenty ways in which a mass extinction might come from other things we do that do not involve emissions ,or resources .For example ,the lethal capabilities of our weapons system might dramatically b change the face and shape of the earth:even a modest contact between nuclear powers will have major climatic and natural consequence that are global, regardless of where a confrontation happens .As a historian , promise that the likelihood of major war in the future is not so much high as certain. And a nuclear war would make recycling redundant. What let's me go to sleep , eventually b,is to remember that we've managed to do OK for decades, centuries beven-and if there is one thing humans are good at ,it is picking up the places after devastating wars, terrible famines and awful suffering ,and getting going again.Greek historian Polybius wrote almost two thousend years ago,"such disasters , tradition tell us ,have often befallen mankind and must reasonably be expected to recur ".No matter how band things seemed v, however ,the human population would and renew" as if from seeds". That's a good way of looking at it !
