"Sweetheart, utter your needs, and I'll heed to my task to follow you, weaved with care and love."
|——————————— ⸆⸉ ———————————|
You had been staring at your phone for ages, doing what? She didn't know, but it had her sighing softly for the third time.
She's been waiting around the entire hour for you to put it away at some point, but all you kept doing was the opposite. Meanwhile, Taylor's been switching her position every few minutes, hoping in a way, the movement would catch your attention. She was starting to look like one of her cats.
Once she finished yet another page of her book, that seemed like it was becoming boring by every second, she had enough. Her eyes looked to you, seeing how you were indeed still blinking and breathing, but not moving other than a few movements of your fingers.
Her hand reaches out and she gently took your phone away, causing confusion to enter your face.
"Hey!--" You protested for a moment, but her finger was placed on your lips, making you freeze and blink at her, your heart having skipped a beat.
Your eyebrows furrowed as you try to grab your phone once again, but she moved it further away from you, shaking her head.
"Mm, mm, you look at me." She lets go of your phone, having put it out of reach from you somewhere. But nonetheless, her hands cupped your face, making you look at her properly.
You let out a gentle breath and chuckled, your shoulders relaxing at the touch. Taylor looked straight into your eyes, her blue ones starting to hold just a teensy bit of frustration.
"What have you been looking at and smiling at for the past hour??" She asks, shaking her head and pouting her lips adorably. Your heart melted at the sight, your lips moving to only have your smile grow wider.
"...Cat videos. And sea otters," You explain, making her blink in the unexpected answer, although, it was you, after all. There was the smallest blush appearing on her cheeks too, and you try your best to resist a laugh.
"Well, as much as I love cats, loooook at me, baby," she urges, shaking your shoulders ever so gently, but it was clear she wanted your attention. You giggled, your hands trying to stop her, to which she slowly relented.
"All you had to do was say something, sweetheart," you whispered, nuzzling your nose against hers before kissing her softly. Her small frustration almost faltered, but her pout was still visible.
"Well, you should have at least noticed..." She murmurs, her hand sliding off your shoulders to cross them across her chest, and you purse your lips with a smile.
"Mm, nope. I thought you were trying to get yourself in a comfortable position," you said, making yourself a point, even though you were too awfully distracted.
"...But you could have helped," she replied back, her shoulders slumping down as she looked up to your eyes. Her lips were turned down, which was an adorable sight.
"The fault's on both of us, my love," you say, admitting that you indeed should have given just a little more attention on her, but she should have also spoken up or took action. She thought it over, noticing now that her maturity was the slightest bit off at the moment.
"Okay." She whispered, leaning into your shoulder, seemingly almost shrinking. Your arms wrap around her, giving her the embrace she's been yearning for the past hour.
"I'll be sure to shower you with attention all day from now on." You whispered, squeezing her gently and pulling her closer in your arms, making her face elicit a darker blush.
"...And for the rest. Of. My. Life." The words uttered from your lips were followed by a single peppering of kisses on her face. She was a mess of a giggle as you made sure to find her forehead, in between her eyes, her nose, the corners of her lips just to tease...and finally, right on her lips.
She melts into the kiss and leans in closer to deepen it, before soon parting yourselves from each other. You look into her eyes softly, and the longer you both stayed like that, she ends up scrunching her nose, her heart in of itself about to burst from love.
"I love you..." The three little words murmur from her mouth, her head leaning in to press gently against your chest. She could feel the vibration of your soft laugh that reverberated off the walls of the bedroom, and it only touched her heart further.
"I love you too, sweetheart." You whisper back, your nose brushing against her hair. It tickled, but also gave warmth and comfort. Your lips brushed near her ear ever so slightly, and you hear a giggle sounding from her, knowing it tickled her back.
You were about to move to cuddle her further and properly rather than just her in your lap, but she had gotten distracted, having noticed the small movement of a cat's tail in the corner of her vision.
She perks up and peeks over the bed, her head turned to see Olivia. Her face brightens up at the sight, while her cat was looking around curiously.
"It's Olivia!" She said, reaching her hands out and letting go of you, wanting to go grab Olivia, but you pull her back gently, tightening your embrace on her.
"Nope! You've got my full attention. You're stuck with me now," you said, giggling as you shook your head, getting yourself closer to her. She yelped slightly and the cat turned its head in surprise.
"Nooo!! Olivia!" She struggles gently against you, calling her cat out for help in act, but Olivia only blinked and walked off, jumping onto the desk chair in the bedroom, which only made both of your laughters grow.
"Okay, okay, I fell right into that," Taylor said, the giggling subsiding and dissolving into breaths that both of you tried to catch back into your regular rhythm.
You looked to Olivia, then took a deep to finish off calming yourself, your gaze going back to Taylor to look at her lovingly. She was already looking at you, a warmth felt within her eyes that you stared into.
"Lets watch the cat videos together," you say, going to your side to grab back your phone that she had put aside just to have your attention.
Taylor smiles softly, agreeing by leaning into you once more. Olivia had jumped off the desk chair in the meanwhile, jumping up on the bed.
"Look, Olivia wants to join in anyway," you pointed out, noticing the movement of a small furry body, but not looking up from your phone as you unlocked it to find the video you were looking at.
"We have real life cats that are silly, baby, I mean--" Taylor starts, about to say that you two could just look at them, but when she turns her head to see Olivia, she sees the small cat standing up on the bed, looking like a squirrel instead of a cat, which had her splutter a soft laugh.
"Look at her! We don't even need the videos, we have the real thing in front of us." She puts her hand up, gesturing towards Olivia. You look up, and your eyes widen in surprise. Your lips turned up and you laughed with the blonde next to you.
"What is she even looking at?" You asked, seeing how Olivia was looking around. If not for Taylor's presence, and the comfy dim lighting in the bedroom, you would have thought the cat was seeing ghosts.
"Dibbles, come here." she mentions Olivia's nickname, reaching out her hand. But Olivia only continued her blank, lost expression, with her pupils dilated.
You were about to continue and put the cat videos on, but then you find one with a cat that was doing the same thing as Olivia was doing.
"Oh, my god, they have the exact same face." You said, pointing to your phone screen and Olivia. Taylor looked, and her eyes follow the happiness of her laugh.
"They do!!" she said, nearly bending over in her laugh. Finally, her cat returned to normal as she did, but she was still giggling loudly along with you. She shakes her head, smiling softly. "That is amazing."

for the trope mashup, how about 53 and 94 for Sorikai?
send me 2 AUs and a ship and I'll write a short fic
(Mutual Pining + Hair Brushing/Braiding)
Growing up on the islands, they naturally learned to swim almost before they could walk. Floating and splashing in the gentle waves is second nature to them: keeping them healthy, helping them relax, a constant way to play. Kairi has never thought too much about it, so she's very interested in the boys' stories of worlds where a trip to the ocean is a novel and awe-inspiring thing, or something only to be dreamed about.
"So you're telling me," she says, running her fingers through the heavy, sea-kissed sand, "that it's all sand? Just...as far as you can see, sand?"
"Well, there is one bit of fresh water and trees," Sora says, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "They call it an oasis, and they built the city next to it. Jasmine says that that's usually how building cities in the desert go. I got to try some of the fruit that they grow: apples, melons...this thing called dragon fruit?"
Kairi smiles. Both he and Riku have talked so much about what they've seen in other worlds already, and yet it always seems like they have something new to say about all of them.
(And then there's you, a voice at the back of her mind sneers, with nothing but a void and a memory that crumbles in your hand the instant you touch it.
She shakes the voice away. With Sora at her right hand and Riku at her left, it's not hard to do. Resentment has never come easily to her, anyway.)
"I've got to take you there to try some too! In fact, I think you and Aladdin and Jasmine would get along really well!"
Sora stands up straight, arms crossed behind his head, grinning — had his grin always been so...dazzling? Her heart's never jumped at him before, she's sure.
"Yeah, still not sure I believe you," Riku says, barely holding back a smirk as he tosses a stray starfish into the waves before it can dry out in the sun. "About as much as I believe you swam with mermaids once."
"Not once! Twice!" Sora protests. "You wouldn't believe it, I had fins like a dolphin and I — !"
On impulse, Sora bolts into the water, certainly diving into an incoming wave like a dolphin, and attempting to imitate the animal's way of swimming: kicking strongly and only with the back legs, but quickly sinking in the process.
"Don't laugh!" Sora calls back to her and Riku, even as he's trying and failing not to giggle himself. "I mean it!"
"We believe you, Sora!" Kairi manages, covering her mouth, though she's not sure what good it does: it's very clear what she's doing.
"Wait a minute 'til we're in, then show us!" Riku adds, kicking off his sandals. He tenses to run for the water himself, but Kairi quickly stands and grabs his arm.
"Hold on! Let me braid your hair!"
Riku blinks. "Huh?"
"Now that you've got such long hair..." She reaches out and flops a lock of it, where it hangs down past his shoulders, surprising herself. "It'll get so tangled if we swim for too long. Let me braid it?"
"Oh..." Riku's face lights up. "Yeah, of course!"
He sits back down on the sand, cross-legged, waiting for her. She kneels behind him and, with only a moment's hesitation, takes his newly thick tresses of hair into her hands. Turning them over each other, she marvels at how soft it still is, and wonders why he decided to let it grow out. As kids, he'd always kept it short, he'd never liked it in his eyes. Neither had Sora, but his hair always seemed to grow up and out instead of down.
"Hey!" Kairi almost jumps; she hadn't noticed Sora emerging from the water, until she felt his fingers run through her own hair. (When did they become so calloused? The wooden swords never did that, but the Keyblade must be harsh on their hands.) He draws something out of her hair, something she hadn't even noticed. "Wind blew a little flower into your hair, Kairi!"
She looks at the little plant he's absently twirling between finger and thumb — bright blue, with dark green in the center and on the edges of the petals. Where did it blow in from, she wonders? The same place as her? Have either of them seen it, then, the place where she was born?
Sora's about to toss it back into the sea, to find a new home on the waves, until she takes his wrist. "No, actually...it probably looked better there, didn't it?"
He gives her a puzzled look, but then a moment later his face breaks into the grin she loves so much. "I'll tie it in for you, then!"
Without missing a beat, Sora kneels down in the sand behind her, his hands warm and soft in her hair the way she hopes hers are in Riku's. They work fast: they're island kids, they always have. They look out for themselves and each other, because no one else is going to, out here in the vast and endless ocean.
"Done!" Sora and Kairi both say at the same time, and Riku rises to his feet before either of them, his new braid hanging down between his shoulder blades.
"So? How do you like it?" Kairi asks.
Riku shifts his weight from side to side, tossing his head like a curious dog, and smiles. "Love it! But I think you look just a bit nicer."
"Oh?" Kairi blinks in surprise, hand going to the flower stem safely wound into her hair...but then again, is he looking at the flower or her face?
Meanwhile, Sora's eyes are delightedly flicking between both of them. "Well, I think you're both perfect!"
He's looked at them like that a lot, lately, as if he never thought he would see them again. Not as if she doesn't understand: she's caught herself staring like that since they got home, too.
It's almost unbelievable how much things have changed since they thought they could cross the ocean on their own aboard a raft...and even more so what doesn't necessarily have to.
She's the first to jump up from the sand this time; much as Riku liked to lead, they always have taken that in turns. "Race you to the sandbar!"
Out of the corner of her eye, she can see that they both look momentarily startled, but that doesn't stop them from jumping to follow at her heels, grinning. Like fruit is sweeter when shared, somehow, the hot sand is cooler and the rumbling waves they dive under not quite so big, that the ones she loves the most are back by her sides.
It's strange: being with them in the waters of Destiny Islands should be the easiest, most familiar thing in the world. But something is...different. It's not enough to say she wants Sora and Riku there with her; she always has. It's just...new. And Kairi isn't sure she has the words for it.
Do they feel the same way, she wonders? She thinks she should be able to tell...but then again they've both always been so confident.
A good thing they were raised to handle the ocean currents, when to go with them and when to pull out of them. Far from trying to push into the lead the way they would have done just a couple years ago, now all three of them are trying to stay close to each other. She knows right away that she prefers it.
Sora's warm skin brushes against her arm, and the stem of his flower is still tightly wound into her hair. Riku's eyes gleam as he propels himself over a wave, a strip of seaweed catching on the end of his long braid. Kairi smiles, sea foam catching the side of her face: she couldn't ask for anything more than this.
When she finally holds a Keyblade in her hand, she'll fight just as hard as Sora and Riku to protect it.
#takes place after KH2#i haven't played KH3 yet so apologies if this is outside of canon#realized i made the 'mutual pining' part more difficult for me by locking myself into kairi's POV#so i hope it comes across#sorikai#kingdom hearts#kaen's fics

In the depths of one's misery, A pale hand reaches beneath their consciousness, To the soul that has given in to despair. In the depths of one's agony, The hand that pulls them out of the darkness, Is one that has already been there.
(Context under the cut.)
-
A couple months ago now, I made a Touhou-inspired AU with a few designs and concepts, but I never posted anything about it (until now, I guess) To sum these two up, Kidou is a kitsune, as well as Kageyama's former shikigami (aka, his familiar). Fudou is a former human who turned into a witch as a result of a mysterious contract with Kageyama.
Anyway this is pretty much what happens when I start a drawing with one inspiration and finish with like five, have the tiny inspiration playlist:
Last DanceR - ShinRa-Bansho Soleil - Kagamine Rin Invitation of the Cat's Soul Reposing Flame - Foxtail-Grass Studio Conturbatio - Yuki Kajiura Blue sea of 53 minutes - ZUN

The Arena of Bloodfire (Week 8, 19/02/2023)
What is Bloodfire you may ask? Something suitable evocative to name an arena apparently...
50. Booby Trapped Corridor
The walls of this corridor are carved with sea-birds in flight. The western ironbound door has been forced at some point in the past.
There is a pressure plate, marked on the map with a T. When someone stands on it for the second time in ten minutes, briny acid starts to jet from the mouths of the carved sea-birds. Anyone in the corridor must succeed on a DC 15/Medium difficulty Dexterity save or suffer 13 (3d8) acid damage, and must continue to do so every round they remain in the room for the next minute.
The trap required a DC 20/Hard difficult check to detect and a second one to disable to the pressure plate. Alternatively, if a holy symbol of Elemental Water or a weapon affected by the magic of the Prayer Room (Room 42) is pressed against the holy symbols on the ironwork on the doors in the Arena Foyer (Room 51), then the trap is disabled for ten minutes. It can also be disabled or triggered from the Hidden Control Chamber (Room 48).
There is a hostile invisible stalker that patrols between this room, the Deep Barbican (Room 47), and the Spectator’s Bar (Room 55), recently summoned in the Arena of Blood (Room 56). When one of these areas is entered for the first time in a day, roll 1d6: On a 1 or 2, the stalker is in the Barbican, on a 3 or 4, the stalker is here, and on a 5 or 6, the stalker is in the Bar. It is aware of the trap here.
51. Arena Foyer
The west wall is covered with a beautiful if peeling painting of two warriors locked in gladiatorial combat. All of the doors are ironbound wood, the south one has the Holy Symbol of Water depicted in its ironwork, while the two in the east wall are both painted; the north one red and the south one blue. Both of these doors have clear spaces in their ironwork where objects were once embedded but have now been pried out.
52. Red Stable
There are a pair of bodies in this room, two human adventurers (Jhailsan the Just and Piron Shashul) wounded by the invisible stalker when it was summoned who were then killed and looted by their companions, the Bluebrow Brothers. A successful DC 15/Medium difficulty investigation check of the corpses will uncover two things that the half-elven murderers did not find, a signet ring in a secret compartment in Jhailsan’s iron Holy Symbol of Elemental Metal, which marks her as a noble from nearby Caprica Bay, and a +1 dagger hidden in Piron’s boot.
Neither of these items can be claimed immediately though, as the unquiet spirits of the two unfortunates still lurk in shadows as a pair of spectres.
53. Blue Stable
Two strangely intact wooden weapon racks stand against the northern wall of the room, empty but still strangely intact. They radiate minor magic and appear to rebuild themselves overnight if destroyed. A thorough investigation of the room that succeeds at a DC 25/Very Hard difficulty check uncovers a secret compartment in the west wall, in which are two potions of healing and a Holy Symbol of Elemental Fire.
54. Gladiator’s Shrine
The walls of this room are covered in graffiti in the Infernal tongue, which translate out as a long series of names, some of them crossed out, others with a mark of two crossed swords beside them in either red or blue.
55. Spectator’s Bar
A stone counter, like you would expect to find in a tavern, extends through the room, tended by a deeply frustrated unseen servant effect, which desperately needs fresh stock to serve visitors. Once someone steps into the room, they are set on by the unseen servant and, unless the intruder succeeds at a DC 15/Medium Strength save, they will have disadvantage for the next round as the unseen servant rummages through the intruder’s equipment and gear, looking for utensils, food, and drink (including potions!). Everything of this nature is pulled free and arranged on the bar, as if it is to be served back to the intruder. There is a hostile invisible stalker that patrols between this room, the Deep Barbican (Room 47), and the Booby Trapped Corridor (Room 50), recently summoned in the Arena of Blood (Room 56). When one of these areas is entered for the first time in a day, roll 1d6: On a 1 or 2, the stalker is in the Barbican, on a 3 or 4, the stalker is in the Corridor, and on a 5 or 6, the stalker is here. It will not hesitate to attack at the same time as the unseen servant is rummaging.
56. The Arena of Bloodfire
This massive chamber consists of two distinct areas, a central fighting pit and a walkway that looks down into the pit from ten feet above. A large stone altar stands against the wall of the pit to the east, with a large ornate stone throne above it on the walkway. Sand, rubble, and detritus are scattered across the floor of the pit, the ceiling is high and vaulted, and the walls have been polished smooth, rendering them a difficult climb (DC 20/Hard check to climb). There is a baroque series of arcane sigils carved into the ceiling, which require a DC 10/Easy difficulty check to spot unless someone is paying special attention to the ceiling, although if light conditions are poor then this may be at disadvantage.
If the party brings a Holy Symbol of an Elemental Power in the fighting pit, then the sigils will glow and summon in a monster that appears in a blaze of blood-red flame and immediately attacks anyone in the pit. Only one monster will be summoned, if more than one Holy Symbol is present, roll randomly to determine which one. If a creature is currently summoned, then it will not reappear.
Elemental Air: Shield Guardian (always fails checks to control it with the throne)
Elemental Earth: Shambling Mound
Elemental Fire: Rust Monster
Elemental Metal: Invisible stalker, currently summoned and found in rooms 47, 50, and 56.
Elemental Water: Chimera
Elemental Wood: Hell Hound
A monster so summoned can be unsummoned by either killing it, placing the Holy Symbol on the altar, or by an act of will by someone seated on the throne. If a Holy Symbol is placed on the altar, it is teleported away and replaced by a dozen cut pieces of peridot, each worth 100gp. In addition to dismissing a summoned creature, someone on the throne can also attempt to control the creature with an opposed Wisdom check. If the creature fails this check, then it is affected as if by a dominate effect cast by the throne-seated character for 24 hours, at which point it becomes hostile again, although the character can also dismiss a dominated creature at will.

Details from @wythdryden’s AI-assisted plotter art inspired by our song “Devil May Care”! Tune in on Friday to catch a new episode of the Quarantine Livestream presented by Wendt.Art (link in profile). Posted @withrepost • @wythdryden This plot is based off some lyrics from a @charmingdisasterband song called "Devil May Care". They're having a livestream, this friday, at 8pm, and it's being presented by Wendt.Art! They're a super talented and fun duo, and absolutely, refreshingly, original. I made this piece specifically for the event; I spent a ton of time making it, but have to admit that in the end I'm a little disappointed with how dark it came out. Sometimes that happens though; that's art, baby! Hope you guys can tune in. :D . "The Devil is bored in the deep blue sea He's got my number, and he's calling me There's nothing to say, so we talk of old times When he had his wings and I had mine" . The above quote was fed to artificial intelligence and iterated over hundreds of times until I came to an image that I found to be a good reference. My pen-plotting robot then drew the design I made based off of that image using 5 x 0.5mm rOtring isograph pens. It had to lift them 21,477 times while drawing the 5766.4 feet (over a mile!) of lines, which took 17 hours and 53 minutes. . A limited number of these are for sale @ Wendt.Art/product/when-he-had-his-wings #CharmingDisaster #DevilMayCare #Devil #Bored #Sea #OldTimes #Wings #QuarantineLivestream #StudioDaily #midjourney #AI #AIArt #Surreal #Trippy #Abstract #GenArtClub #StrangeArt #NewMediaArt #LineArt #LineDrawing #ContemporaryArt #GenerativeArt #PlotterArt #CreativeCoding #CreativeCodeArt #RobotArt #ModernArt #WendtArt #BuyArt #Buyartfromlivingartists https://www.instagram.com/p/ClmV29cujc6/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
