my #17 Track of the Year for 2024 is...

"Yot Klub (Blooom Rework)" by Dan Dakota!

last year, a little track called "Yot Klub" was released by Dan Dakota. it was a neat and goofy lil experimental DnB track that was pretty catchy but didn't quite have the chutzpah to make the shortlist of 32 songs at the end of the year.

last year, a little track called "Get Low" was released by Blooom. part neuro, part dancefloor, it was a sound design machine that lodged itself in my brain so hard that it propelled itself to #1 on my Spotify Wrapped. it did, in fact, have what it took to make the shortlist, earning itself a spot on my podium on the 2023 Track of the Year list.

these two forces combined to make an absolute monster in 2024. blooom brought his amazing sound design ideas to the track. this gave it a more serious edge and honed in on the things that made the original great. once again, it finds itself not quite dancefloor, not quite neuro, not quite experimental. instead, it's all energy, and this track shows what happens when two great minds think alike.

       it  was  so  foreign  to  myungsoo,  to  even  feel  something  towards  another  person,  always  having  been  one  to  approach  people  with  cautious;  married  to  his  work  and  constantly  studying  to  become  more  knowledgeable  in  his  field  of  work.  so,  he  was  the  type  to  try  and  not  get  distracted,  having  found  it  a  waste  of  time.  not  that  he  didn't  have  his  fair  share  of  one  night  stands  but  with  eunji  it  was  already  different.  the  femme  had  been  lingering  on  his  mind,  wondering  why  she  had  contacted  him  and  now  that  he  accidentally  found  out,  he  was  happy  that  fate  had  managed  to  squash  them  into  this  metal  room;  forced  to  actually  meet  again.   "  mm,  they're  tough  sometimes  ...  i  can  go  with  you.  "   knowing  most  people  didn't  scold  him  because  he  simply  shrugged,  not  one  to  apologize  for  something  that  was  inconvenient  and  he  held  no  power  over.  which  was  the  case  with  eunji  currently.  the  very  moment  she  returns  the  kiss  without  any  hesitation,  heart  flips  in  his  chest  and  myungsoo  finds  these  feelings  so  strange  but,  he  ignores  them  and  just  allows  lips  to  move  alongside  others.  knowing  that  time  froze  for  them  but,  the  people  working  hard  in  trying  to  free  them,  was  at  a  normal  speed.  slender  digits  caress  along  her  cheek,  pushing  along  her  ear  and  to  the  back  of  her  nape,  body  pressing  slightly  closer  as  he  sought  warmth  from  her;  that  familiar  scent  and  sensation  that  eunji  had  granted  him  before.  what  is  drawing  them  to  pull  apart  is  the  sounds  of  people  trying  to  open  the  elevator  door  from  the  other  side,  and  he  sighs  out  in  slight  disappointment;  murmuring  against  her  lips.   "  don't  be  a  stranger  eunji.  "   softest  of  smile  is  flashed  her  way  and  finally  he  moves  away  before  the  people  outside  sees  them  like  that.

it  would  be  a  lie  to  say  he  hasn’t  crossed  her  mind  since  the  night  they  spent  together.  still  processing  her  heartache  and  preoccupied  with  her  new  residency  at  the  hospital,  it  feels  like  ages  since  she  forged  such  an  unforgettable  connection  with  someone.  of  course,  she  had  to  blow  her  chances  by  accidentally  losing  his  number.  but  this  morning,  fate  has  proven  to  her  that  it’s  still  on  her  side.  she  nods  with  a  smile,  her  soft  gaze  filled  with  certainty  as  she  meets  his  eyes.  getting  stuck  in  the  hospital  elevator  isn’t  the  dreamy  reunion  she  ever  envisioned,  but  she  is  beyond  grateful  that  they’ve  found  their  way  back  to  each  other.  “lucky  for  you,”  she  responds,  a  hint  of  envy  lacing  her  voice.  “good  to  know  that  at  least  one  of  us  won’t  be  getting  any  scolding.”  her  absence  from  the  case  conference  won’t  go  unnoticed,  but  it’s  not  as  though  she  chose  to  be  trapped  in  a  faulty  elevator  this  particular  morning  either.  her  eyes  widen  at  his  unexpected  suggestion — though  perhaps  it  shouldn’t  be  so  surprising,  considering  he’s  been  gazing  at  her  with  the  same  fondness  since  the  night  they  met.  just  after  she  made  it  clear  how  much  she  regretted  losing  his  number  and  how  much  she  wanted  to  see  him  again.  caught  off  guard  by  the  tension  of  the  moment,  she  feels  frozen  like  a  deer  in  headlights,  yet  no  sound  of  protest  escapes  her  lips  as  he  leans  closer,  closing  the  distance  until  there’s  barely  any  space  left  between  her  fluttering  heart  and  his.  when  their  lips  meet,  she  kisses  him  back  with  the  same  tenderness,  feeling  her  heart  race  with  a  familiar  giddiness.  her  arms  instinctively  wrap  around  his  neck,  drawing  him  even  closer  as  the  world  outside  the  elevator  fades  away,  leaving  just  the  two  of  them  in  this  magical  bubble.
