okay, I lied, I'll post a little ficlet too. short and sappy
ship: nemona x juliana
title: poppies
You were picnicking on a beautiful little spot in the East Province, a grassy hill overlooking Levincia. The meadow was covered in colorful little wildflowers, Combee and Flabébé floating lazily around the blooms, and you both were in a very silly mood. You don't recall exactly what you'd been talking about, but Nemona had been in the middle of a ramble-- something to do about a friend she knew who chose their pokeballs strictly for visual aesthetics rather than practicality, which had her all worked up-- but you remember leaning over and plucking a pretty little orange poppy from the ground, then looking at her; and then feeling this sudden intense rush of affection. You leaned towards her, interrupting her ramble as you said to her,
"Look at how cute these little flowers are, Nemona. They remind me of you."
Her eyes widened and she giggled. The sound made it feel as though there were a whole crowd of Vivillon fluttering inside you. She tried to chastise you, but she was grinning when she asked,
"Juliana, were you even listening?"
"I was." You had been, mostly. Her voice catching just a little bit at the start, she asked,
"H-how do the flowers remind you of me?"
You twist the little blossom by the stem, thinking a moment. Then you muse,
"They're so bright and cheerful. And they're so pretty, like little flecks of sun. Like your eyes."
She seemed to be briefly rendered speechless, and you reached out, tucking the flower behind her ear.
"There," you say, admiring your work,
"It's perfect."
Her eyes widened-- they were the most expressive eyes you'd seen in your life, honey-amber and deep and sparkling, and you thought you could probably gaze into them forever-- and you watched as a delighted smile overcame her, her nose wrinkling adorably and her freckled cheeks flushing pink.
"Jules! You're making me blush, ay!"
You're still leaned in close to her, having never pulled away when you gave her the flower.
"Good, because you're even more adorable when you blush," you say, and she squirmed and giggled, and oh, it was too much for your heart to bear.
"I am going to kiss your nose now," you announce, because you feel as though you may perish if you do not. She looks at you and offers no protest, and you nudge your face closer and closer and peck her on the nose, but it's not enough, so you nuzzle your nose against hers as well, and her hands are gripping your arms and she is laughing, and you feel dizzy. When you pull back just slightly, you feel like you can see the stars in her eyes.
And then, someone tips forward just slightly, and you're not sure if it was you or her, but she's kissing you now, warm and soft against your lips, and there is a tingling sensation that blooms and spreads in your chest, but everything's over too fast, and then she's looking at you with surprise, startled by her own actions, it seemed.
"O-oh . . . um, sorry, I-I-- wow, I just sort of, sort of got caught up in-- in, um--"
Listening to her stumble was only fueling your adore for her further, and you lean in and kiss her again, firmer this time, and her fingertips slide along your arms, drawing goosebumps as you melt into her, tasting, eager, curious. It feels like drinking sunshine.
You'd never even considered before that you felt this way for her. But now that you were in the moment, it felt so utterly natural, so completely obvious, the inevitable conclusion to the overflowing joy you always felt when near her.

Trevor's First Capture
The class was over for the day, and Serena held her Fennekin while Lumiose Academy's school bell rang from the other end.
"Looks like that's it for today," Serena noted.
Fennekin yipped out of curiosity.
Once class ended, Trevor and his Charmander came up on the line.
"Hey, Serena," Trevor began. "Did you do your 'Trainer's Ambition' essay yet?"
"Oh, I did get started on that," Serena replied. "I'm just stuck on the next paragraph."
"I see," Trevor noted. "I wrote that I'm going to become a scholar with Charmander by my side."
Serena smiled at Trevor's dedication.
"You certainly have the intelligence for it," she noted.
Hovering into view was a small white nymph with black eyes riding a blue fairy flower. Her ears were long and notched while a ring of pollen served as a crown on her head. Serena noticed the pink blush marks on her cheeks when she investigated Trevor's Rotom Phone.
"A Flabébé?" Serena asked out of confusion.
"Sorry!" Trevor exclaimed. "This is my Flabébé."
Once the Single Bloom Pokémon moved out of the way, Trevor and his Charmander came back into view.
"You caught her?" Serena asked. "Amazing!"
"Thanks," Trevor replied. "Charmander took a shine to her."
Trevor's two Pokémon soon struck up a conversation.
"Have you caught a new Pokémon yet?" he questioned. "They do say the more, the merrier."
"I-I think I'll hold off for now," Serena told him. "I want to bond with Fennekin a little more."
"I see," Trevor replied.
A knock came on the door of Serena's room.
"Hey, Serena! Is your class done?"
"I'm all finished," Serena confirmed.
Her attention turned back to Trevor.
"Sorry, but I need to get going," Serena began. "We're heading to the Galar Mine."
"You're heading to a mine?" Trevor asked. "Take some pictures for me, okay? I want to see it."
"Of course. See you tomorrow."

@flabloom stopped for a visit: she's just going to...drift onto rosa's hat :)
The light weight of the pokemon is like a flower petal landing upon the hat. The hat does not bend or droop or react in any way to the pokemon’s presence as though she weren’t even there at all. Rosa would not have even noticed the delicate creature, being far more focused on unpacking her team’s picnic and tossing a rubber ball to and fro to keep her beloved friends entertained. If not for the fact that her Lopunny had stopped playing to focus in on the smaller creature that now sat atop Rosa’s hat. Her Lopunny was not one for day dreaming nor staring without intent. So when Rosa noticed the ever vigilant guard of a pokemon had stopped playing she immediately took notice.
“Is something wrong, Bon Bon?” There is clear concern for her voice as she takes a moment to assess what has changed in the few moments between when her friend was playing and now. She notices the way her pokemon is staring at her hat, she detaches her hat from behind her hand and gently moves it making sure not to accidental turn it over or knock whatever Bon Bon was staring at off. Only when the brim of the hat is in front of her does she notice the flower and the small pokemon attached. A very small surprised gasp escapes her at the sight of the shiny pokemon.
“Why hello there.” She greets quietly, smiling to the Flabébé. She sets her hat down an arms reach away on the pink cloth adorned ground. Leaving plenty of room for the small pokemon to either leave or make herself more comfortable in her new surroundings. A bright smile spreads across Rosa’s face as she puts her hands together. Bon Bon finally settles to sit next to Rosa, pouring some water from a thermos into a small dish and setting it beside the hat. An offering to Bloom to join the picnic if she so desired.
“I see you found yourself a seat already. So welcome to Rosa’s grand outdoor picnic jamboree! We’ve got games and treats and goodies galore, feel free to make yourself at home!”

name: flabébé (bloom)
type: white flabébé (shiny; special)
ability: symbiosis
moveset: fairy wind, wish, magical leaf, synthesis
special: despite the flower she carries being white most of the time...the petals have been known to change colours. although the reason is currently unknown, it seems like certain emotions or material will cause the flower the shift. bloom has been seen in all hues, as well as with purple and blue-green.
history: bloom's origin is unknown. the region she came from is speculated to be kalos or paldea, though it seems she has been seen many places. her existence is sometimes said to be rumour, saying she is simply multiple flabébé, with nobody actually seeing her petals change--at least no confirmed cases. the first sighting and rumour of the little flabébé was a year prior to the present.
personality: bloom is a sweet but shy flabébé. she has had many occasions where she lost her trust in people, either through people trying to catch her, or to try and take her flower if they witness the change, not to mention as a shiny she is sought after. she tries to stick around people whom feel and have been shown to be trustworthy. despite this hesitation, if she sees someone in change, the little fae WILL try and help, without a question. the pain of other people and pokemon is shared, she cannot bare to feel the pain or to allow others to feel it.

Mm, curious? It is a minor rewilding project. I live in a semi-arid area that has become choked with asphalt and thirsty turf, and wild spaces must struggle wherever they can. So the meagre land I won the battle for is being converted. Mainly uprooting the galar grass by hand, Nicodemus likes to imitate me but I'm trying to channel his awkward grabs into more of a ploughing motion by rewarding him with dried meats when he does it correctly. That way the soil is loosened, making it easier to pull out the tufts.
Once a section is finished I mix in compost and native seeds, then cover everything with leaf litter to begin regeneration of the topsoil. I should have everything finished come spring, and if any wildflowers bloom the flabébé should keep it clean of dreavusheads and cheatgrass.
Ugh! Don't start any mechanical repairs after getting a manicure. My nails are ruined!! :(

Today, I want to show you one of the sweetest Pokémon Fusions you will ever meet: Smoochbébé! It is the fusion of Flabébé and Smoochum, and a Fairy and Ice type. They love nothing more than bringing people flowers in order to get a smooch as a reward. They thrive off emotional warmth in the cold climates they inhabit. In the wintertime, when no flowers bloom, they instead collect snow stars.
Wild Smoochbébé are quite rare in the sense that both Fusion Component Pokémon (FCP for short) dont share much living space, but in captivity they are pretty common. Smoochum and Flabébé attract the same kind of trainer, and their personalities are also very much alike. This helps immensely, as both spatial proximity and emotional compatibility increase the likelyhood of a Fusion happening. Other factors include high activation state (e.g. danger, hunger), individual personality (a caring pokemon might be more inclined to fuse than an egoistical one) and fatigue.
Smoochbébé is a highly stable Fusion and rarely splits up naturally once it has formed.
Do you have any more questions about this sweet, quirky Fusion? Let me know!

Summary: XY tries to steal Luka's non-existent gym badges. Instead, they both end up making a new friend. (For @luxyweek day 3: Pokemon)
Word Count: 2071
XXX
Luka woke up to a stranger rummaging in his bag.
He should’ve known better than to fall asleep in the Pokémon Center, especially in a city as big as Lumiose. Exhaustion after a late concert was no excuse to be careless. Even if crime was rarer after the takedown of Team Flare, there were still unorganized thieves around.
Like this idiot who thought Luka was an easy target.
“C’mon, he’s gotta have at least one…” The idiot was mumbling.
Without opening his eyes, Luka slowly moved his hand to his pocket. He pulled out the one pokéball he had on him.
“Who the heck carries so many metronome items…?”
While the thief was distracted, Luka pressed the button on his pokéball. One click, and his Loudred burst free.
“GWAHHHH!!!” She boomed, and the thief jumped back with a shriek.
“Wh-h-hey!” he stammered. Luka finally got a good look at him. Tall blonde hair, tacky outfit—was this some remixed Team Flare grunt after all? He was wearing purple rather than red, though.
“That’s an, uh, nice dude you got there.” He eyed Luka’s Loudred dubiously.
“Symphony is a girl.” He scratched her behind the ear, and she made a low rumble.
“Uh. Nice babe then.”
Luka snorted. Why had this thief bothered to stick around? He thought he’d have run off by now. Luka really hoped he wasn’t going to have to battle. Symphony had worked hard enough tonight.
“Why were you looking through my bag?”
“Pshaw, I wasn’t doing that. Besides, you don’t have anything useful.”
Wow. This guy really was an idiot. The Team Flare grunts were never too smart, either. Just a bunch of kids who got mixed up with the wrong crowd.
Well, Luka was no trainer like the ones who’d busted them up last year. But maybe he could keep one kid from following down that road.
“What do you count as useful?” Luka asked. “Money? Items? Pokémon?”
“Maybe Pokémon would be useful, if they’d stop being haters and listen to me.” The guy crossed his arms and pouted.
“...So you’re not a trainer?” Luka glanced around the Pokémon Center. Everyone else was very determined to mind their own business. Not that Luka needed their help to deal with a guy who couldn’t even use his own Pokémon, but still. Someone could’ve tried.
“I’m going to be a trainer. Just as soon as I steal a badge and get this Zorro dude to listen to me.”
Luka raised an eyebrow. “Zorro dude?”
“Yeah. Dark type? Sick red ponytail? Likes to copy me and make me look stupid?”
He sat up straighter. “You have a Zoroark?”
That Pokémon was rare enough to border on legendary. They didn’t even live in the Kalos region.
“Yeah, that’s what I said.” The guy looked at Luka like he was stupid.
“How did you catch a Zoroark if it won’t even listen to you?”
“Dad gave ‘im to me. He wants me to get famous here, but it’s harder to fake battles than I thought.” He sighed dramatically and sunk to the seat next to Luka.
Clearly the ‘get famous’ plan wasn’t working. Luka had no idea who he was. At least he was pretty sure he wasn’t a Team Flare grunt, though.
“And you’re telling me this… after trying to rob me… why…?”
“Cause you asked.”
Luka blinked. “Touché.”
He gave Symphony one last pat, then returned her to her pokéball.
“Traded Pokémon won’t listen to you without badges,” he told the would-be thief. “And I don’t have any of those, if that’s what you were looking for.”
“Really? But you look—” The guy gestured to all of him. “Y’know. Cool. Tough.”
“Thanks? I guess? I’m just a musician, though.” He patted his guitar next to him. It was pretty telling that this guy hadn’t tried to steal that. “I only battle if I have to.”
“Huh. Well that’s pretty cool too, I guess.” The guy shrugged. “I did Pokémon Contests in Hoenn for a while. Before I got banned for using holograms.”
Luka raised an eyebrow. “Any other international crimes you want to confess to?”
“Crashed my boat into a herd of Luvdisc in Alola. But that was an accident. How was I supposed to know they were endangered?”
“I was being sarcastic, man.” Luka shook his head. “Nevermind. Come on.”
He stood and hoisted his guitar over his shoulder.
“Huh? Where are we going?” The guy trotted after him.
“To catch you a Pokémon. Before you get yourself kicked out of another country.”
XXX
The stranger’s name was XY. It stood for Xavier-Yves. It didn’t sound like an Unovan name, but that was still the least weird thing about the guy. Maybe that was just a pseudonym. He probably needed one after all of his criminal acts, accidental or not.
“Alright, XY.” Luka stood knee-deep in the grass of Route 4. “You’re going to be borrowing Symphony for this. Borrowing. If you run off with her, she’ll suplex you into the ground.”
XY eyed the Loudred next to him. Sweat beaded on his forehead.
“Got it, Mr. Couffaine.”
“Just Luka is fine.” He sighed. This was such a weird way to be spending the night after a concert, but it was still better than going home.
“Got it, Mr. Luka.”
Close enough.
“Alright, now follow me into the grass.”
“I can’t do that! That’s where the Pokémon are!”
Luka rolled his eyes. “That’s the point. You’re going to catch one.”
“I thought you were going to catch me one. Because you’re cool and sexy like that.”
“Flattery’s not getting you out of this.” Luka grabbed his wrist and tugged him into the grass, Symphony following behind them.
XY squealed again. “But what if they eat me!”
“We’re on Route 4, dude. The biggest Pokémon out here is a Skitty.”
“...Those things eat meat, right?”
“No.” Even if they did, they would probably know better than to eat XY. They didn’t know where he’d been.
“If I die, you’re paying for my funeral,” XY grumbled, even though he’d already gone off on four tangents about how rich his dad was. Luka didn’t even bother responding.
Suddenly XY screamed again. A few Fletching flew out of the red flower patch. At this rate, they’d never catch anything.
“What is it this ti—oh.” Luka blinked down at the tiny Pokémon clinging to XY’s ankle. “It’s just a Flabébé.”
The little girl seemed to have mistaken XY’s socks for a flower. She was shuddering, cowering against the fabric even as XY tried to shake her off.
“Dude, cut it out.” Luka gripped him by the shoulders. “This is perfect. She already likes you.”
“Y-you think so?” XY set his foot back on the ground. The Flabébé tentatively looked up.
“You might not even need Symphony to weaken her. Here.” Luka took out a pokéball, but hesitated to hand it over. “Are you going to take good care of her if I give you this?”
“What gives, man?” XY snatched the ball. “You were gonna teach me about catching Pokémon, not about, like, parenting stuff.”
Luka hadn’t thought this through enough before seeing the little Flabébé. He couldn’t in good conscience condemn her to a life with XY without knowing that he would treat her right.
“Are you staying in Lumiose? I live at the edge of the city. I could come check on her. Just to make sure she’s not giving you too much trouble.”
“I didn’t know you were gonna want joint custody.” XY smirked. “But sure, whatever. Can’t complain if you want to do half my work for me.”
He knelt down and tapped the Flabébé on her head.
“You are just a little thing, aren’t you?” He let out a nasal laugh. “How do you feel about me being your new dad?”
“Please don’t say it like that.” Luka groaned.
The Flabébé fluttered into XY’s palm and nudged the pokéball. Wow. She must really have no standards.
“Sorry. Me and Lu are gonna be your new dads.” XY grinned.
“Aaaand that’s even worse.”
The Flabébé looked at Luka. He looked at her. She looked at him. He looked at her.
“...I’m not being your other dad.”
Symphony blasted out a honk of laughter. He glared at her.
“Don’t make me put you back in the pokéball.”
She just smiled innocently.
“Okay, okay. Shut up. We’re doing this.” XY took a deep breath and pressed the button on the pokéball with his thumb. It split open, sucking the Flabébé into its light.
The ball glowed red while rocking back and forth. Once. Twice. Three times.
Then it went still.
“I—I did it?” XY stared at the ball in his palm. Luka swore there was wonder in his eyes.
Hopefully this hadn’t been such a bad idea after all.
“You did it.” Luka clapped him on the shoulder. “Why don’t you let her out now? She should get used to you before you take her home.”
After fumbling for a moment, XY popped the ball open. The Flabébé flashed back out and hovered in the air. She quickly zipped down and plucked a red flower, hugging it close.
“Aww, our first date and she’s already giving me flowers.” XY laughed.
“It’s not for you. Flabébé has to keep one close for protection.”
“Ah. Like a comfort blanket.” XY nodded sagely. “That’s okay! I’ll pick my own flower. Then we can match!”
He snatched up another red bloom, then tucked it behind his ear.
Luka was surprised to find himself smiling. Who would’ve thought XY could actually be cute? When he wasn’t trying to steal Luka’s non-existent gym badges, anyway.
“Are you going to name her?” He asked to keep his thoughts away from that tangent.
“Huh? Oh. Uh… hmm.” XY’s brow furrowed. He stared at the Flabébé, who had fluttered back into his palm. “You can’t tell me your name, can you?”
She let out a tiny squeak.
“Hmm. Yeah. I feel that.” He nodded. “How about Cheeto?”
“Cheeto?” Luka burst before he could think better of it. Who named their Pokémon Cheeto?
“Yeah, ‘cause she’s got that yellow dust all over her.” XY rubbed a tiny bit of it off with his fingertip. Flabébé almost seemed to purr.
“You mean… pollen?”
XY raised an eyebrow. “Ew, gross. What kind of name is Pollen? Sounds like Pole-men. And she’s a girl.”
Luka wanted to smack his forehead. Symphony gave him a sympathetic pat.
“Well. Have fun with Cheeto, I guess.” He sighed. “I’m going to go get some sleep. You’ve got my Holo Caster number.”
“Wait!” XY jogged after him, cradling Cheeto close to his chest. “I didn’t get to say—thanks, man.”
Luka looked back over his shoulder, surprised. “No problem. This is better than stealing gym badges, right?”
“A lot better.” He looked down at his new Pokémon fondly. “Uh, sorry about that, by the way. I—I’m gonna make it up to you.”
“Yeah?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah! I’m gonna—take you to the hotel I’m staying at! So you don’t look homeless!” XY grabbed him by the arm and started dragging him back towards the city.
“I literally told you I live in town…?”
“Then why were you sleeping in the Pokémon Center like a hobo?” XY smirked. Symphony laughed where she was lumbering after them.
You’ve turned my own Pokémon against me. Luka scowled.
“Didn’t feel like dealing with my mom,” he said under his breath.
It was stupid, running away just because he’d finally found out about his dad. His whole band was here. Including his sister. Lumiose was a big city, but he couldn’t play guitar for Kitty Section and dodge his parents at the same time.
“Perfect! There’s no moms allowed in my hotel room!” XY beamed.
If staying out was stupid, then even considering XY’s offer was downright moronic. XY had tried to rob him just hours ago.
But the dude was rich. Luka didn’t have anything else he could want. And whatever hotel room they ended up in was bound to have a more comfortable couch than the Pokémon Center’s.
“...Alright,” he finally agreed.
XY’s holler of joy could probably be heard in the next route over.
“Sweet! Bro co-parenting slumber party, here we come!”
Luka let Symphony laugh at him. He deserved it for ending up in such a ridiculous situation.
But somehow, he felt better anyway.

Zonnia Pokedex: Aspakid, Orchifae, and Orchadryad
Aspakid
Fae Child Pokemon Fairy Budew + Flabébé
Appearance
Aspakid are tiny, egg-shaped Pokemon, with a soft white inner body surrounded by pale yellow-green petal-like coverings, forming the appearance of a closed flower bud. In height Aspakid reach six inches, and at rest appear as little more than a closed flower. The “petals” of Aspakid vary in colouration between pale yellows and greens, shifting along curving gradients that encircle the Pokemon's outer body.
At the top of Aspakid's body these petals bend outwards, forming a rounded crown. The white inner body of Aspakid is stretchy and pliable, and extends to emerge from its petal covering as the Pokemon wills it. When the inner body is exposed, the Pokemon's thin, vertical oval-shaped black eyes and rounded mouth can be observed. When active, Aspakid emerge from their petal covering, and when resting retreat within. Aspakid float to move, being sensitive to wind currents, and are easily blown about. They will attach to most any plant they come across to anchor themselves, providing they do not wish to take to the breeze.
Ecology
Aspakid are rare to encounter in the wild, as the Pokemon tend to evolve soon after hatching. Parent Orchifae and Orchadryad will place their eggs amongst flower fields, where freshly hatched Aspakid will quickly attach to a provided flower and undergo evolution into Orchifae.
When isolated in such a way that Aspakid do not immediately attach to a flower, the following traits of the Pokemon become observable: Aspakid are curious and stubborn in nature, investigating as they wish with little heed for any attempts to deter them. Even those directly hatched into a Trainer's care play little attention to given directions, and take significant effort to both socialise with others, and train to accept instruction.
Soon after hatching, an unbound Aspakid will quickly develop high standards for flowers, and tend to actively reject most any on any number of inscrutable criteria. Indeed while freshly hatched Aspakid may evolve in a matter of minutes, those who do not may instead go years without evolution - not as a result of a lack of desire, but a lack of an accepted flower to trigger the process.
When Aspakid do settle upon a flower that suits them, the Pokemon will wind itself around the relevant bloom, and evolve into Orchifae. This evolution is recorded to only take place under sunlight.
Field Report
As a result of its species' habits leading to instant evolution after hatching, it is only recently that any detailed studies of Aspakid have been able to take place. While researchers and those living close by to the Pokemon species were aware of Aspakid's existence, instances of the Pokemon prior to evolution were significantly rare, lowering the ability to study its nature and abilities.
Orchifae and Orchadryad will, as an almost universal rule, only reproduce while in the presence of dense flower fields, and furthermore will not tolerate interference with their nests while eggs can be found within them. Pokemon partnered with Trainers will allow for their eggs to be carried by said Trainers, however those Orchifae and Orchadryad will still gather flowers for the soon-to-hatch Aspakid. Those few times an egg has been separated from parent and flower both, resulting in an Aspakid not immediately evolving, have left prospective Trainers with a Pokemon that stubbornly refuses to listen to them at all. And the overlap of personality traits necessary to both take a Pokemon egg from its natural environment, deny the assistance of the parent Pokemon, and then care for the unruly Pokemon to hatch, is extremely slim. Most Aspakid hatched prior to recent times were released soon after by disillusioned individuals unimpressed with their charge.
Recent studies involving the use of incense in affecting Pokemon mood have determined that specific floral incenses simulate the environment of flower fields enough for Orchifae and Orchadryad to feel comfortable producing eggs, and so Aspakid have been hatched absent flowers but not morals. The exposure of Aspakid to Trainers better equipped to care for such Pokemon has led to the understanding of their personalities, and the drive that settles within them to obtain the one perfect flower they will evolve with.
It is a result of this research that the following understanding has been gained: Aspakid who delay evolution, growing in this form first before finding the right flower to trigger their evolution, are statistically healthier and stronger on almost every level. Comparing two Aspakid, hatched at the same time, raised the same, but one evolved immediately while the other is given time in this form before evolving, the second outperforms the first consistently. Such properties are of significant interest to Trainers, and while Orchifae and Orchadryad have enjoyed presence amongst teams in the past, this means of raising them to significantly stronger levels has raised the distinction of said Pokemon in the Zonnia battling scene.
While active moral debate about interfering with the life-cycle of this species to promote stronger individuals rightfully takes place, one observation which should be noted is that Orchadryad evolved with this delay prove more effective in cleansing sickness and maintaining larger territories than those without, and such empowered Pokemon can play vital roles in caring for large expanses of nature by undergoing this delayed evolution.

Shallura Week 2020
Day 6: AU Day
Shiro and Allura as Pokémon Trainers with Little Cup Teams, plus a couple of mysteriously attached Legendaries.
Reasoning:
Litten, a Fire type, and (Shiny) Oshawott, a Water type, were picked as starter Pokémon for their complementary color schemes. Color continuity also heavily influenced the following choices.
Sky: Gligar. "It builds its nest on a steep cliff." "It sails on the winds with its limbs extended to strike from the sky." Ground/Flying type. Stars: Cleffa, the Star Shape Pokémon, "believed to be a star reborn." "On late nights illuminated by shooting stars, it gazes intently skyward, as if thinking of its home." Fairy type. Wings: (Shiny) Galarian Farfetch'd. "The stalk this Pokémon carries in its wings serves ... to cut down opponents." "The Farfetch'd of the Galar region are brave warriors ..." Fighting type. Bloom: Flabébé (Red Flower), the Single Bloom Pokémon. "It draws out and controls the hidden power of flowers." "Flabébé wears a crown made from pollen it's collected from its flower. The crown has hidden healing properties." Fairy type. Moon: Chinchou, a Pokémon of distance and duality, it discharges "positive and negative electricity between ... its two antennae ..." It is only found on the "dark ocean floor ..." where it "lives ... beyond the reach of sunlight" and humanity. Water/Electric type. Sun: Deerling, Spring form. Once Spring begins, the length of time the sun stays in the sky begins to increase. Deerling possesses the Chlorophyll ability, which raises its speed in harsh sunlight. Normal/Grass type.
Dark: Noibat. "They live in pitch black caves." and "After nightfall, they emerge from the caves they nest in ..." Flying/Dragon type. Light: Fomantis. It can only evolve during the day. "During the day, Fomantis basks in sunlight ... " Grass type.
Horizon: (Shiny) Entei. It resembles a lion. "Unable to restrain its extreme power, it races headlong around the land." A roaming Pokémon in the games, it never stays in the same place for long, running at incredible speed around the region. Fire Type. Beyond: Suicune. It was once resurrected after the burning of its home. "Suicune embodies the compassion of a pure spring of water. It runs across the land with gliding elegance. It has the power to purify dirty water." Water type.
