what i think the goat's narinder looks like :D!!

i now want to drone on about him and lamb's narinder!! okay so like how lambs and goats are apart of the same family of animal (bovidae) i wanted both narinders to be that too (felidae)!! for the sake of this little post im gonna call goat's narinder amrik.

narinder is a black african wild cat and amrik is a white caracal

i chose these two felines because of course they both come from the felidae family and they are similar in structure and build, with the caracal being a bit bigger in size, much like how goats are a bit bigger in size compared to lambs (at least mine, my goat is a mountain goat and my lamb is a lamb you'd find at a farm).

amrik is much less ambitious than narinder, he was more drawn back out of the siblings in goat's universe and the lack of ambition is what drove his siblings to cast him away (im saying this in the most vague way possible) instead of how narinder's story went, where his siblings cast him away because his ambition was too great, hence why he betrayed his siblings. i wanted amrik to look the opposite of narinder while still looking and acting very much like a cat. ALSO baal and aym are african wild cats like narinder and they sport the same all black coat while their mother forneus is just a regular black house cat!! amrik's baal and aym equivalents will be the same as him, white caracals while their mother is a regular white house cat. gaaah and while im on about that why not amrik's siblings?? i havent yet fully decided on them but i think i wanna make (still goat's universe) kallamar a octopus, shamura a scorpian and heket a toad because i want to keep that same animal family thingy going!! :3

Raptorians Overview

This is a supplemental document from Dr. Doppler's Field Report. Mature researchers only.

What can be said about Raptorians that hasn’t been said in works such as Mimicry and Me: So Your Voice Has Been Stolen?, Out of this World Fashion and the controversial One Flew Over The Raptorian’s Nest? Hailing from Raptoria, they entered the galactic fold a decade after the establishment of NOX and the end of the Military Age, citing “We weren’t sure about all the war, but if you’re going to relax now we’ll talk.”

While some might call the general disposition of raptorians “cocky” and “vain,” they prefer “proud” and “worth it.” Xenosapients that are easily overwhelmed by colors and loud sounds should stay clear of Raptorian territory. If that doesn’t describe you, however, it is highly recommended to visit during any of their festivals and celebrations for a rich sensory experience. As long as it isn’t Ovumtide. 

Homeworld - Raptoria

Called the gem of the Garuda system, Raptoria is a temperate planet that orbits an A-class star. Dominated by oceans, waterways, and marshes, its extreme habitats are limited to its polar ice caps and deep ocean trenches.

The planet’s rings are important to the raptorian people, not just as an awe-inspiring skymark that makes afternoon walks more pleasant, but religiously too. The predominant religion believes that the rings are remnants of the Egg Mother when she hatched from her own shell. We now know it to be the leftovers of what used to be Raptoria’s only moon. 

Colony - Raptova

Called the diamond in the rough of the Phoenix system, Raptova by contrast is an arid mono-continental planet that orbits a similar blue main sequence star as Raptoria. It’s shared with the Scorpian people who live in the inland deserts. The settlement was brokered by NOX, to allow separatist Raptorians a safe place to self-govern.

Biology

Raptorians are warm-blooded, feathered bipeds. On top of their heads are erectile feathers that act as a way to focus in on sound, like a satellite dish. Their limbs end with black scaly webbed claws, the webbing having receded as they evolved to inland life. In their thick necks is an incredibly developed syrinx that allows unparalleled mimicry.

It’s believed that raptorians originated as coastal predators, before gradually moving inland. They retained the slight webbing between their claws and their waterproof feathers, which doubled as an important way to retain heat during the cold months, which were extreme. 

Ancient Raptoria’s weather wasn’t the only cycle that shaped raptorian evolution. An aspect that’s unique to Raptorians are their estrous cycles. While xenos that go into heat will have these cycles last a week or three, Raptorians let loose for only one night of the year. The short window to breed causes Raptorians to endure a massive influx of hormones. While not as bad as the Kovlins, who go into self-described “sex madness” when in heat, Raptorians are on the lower end of the spectrum of lucidity during their cycle. 

But why go about breeding like this? If we look at the daily life of an ancient raptorian, it becomes clearer. Half of the year an ancient raptorian had to stay clear of cyclones and lightning, and the other half blizzards and hail.  The hostile weather conditions of the past only allowed for a very narrow time of the year in which looking for mates wasn’t a death sentence. For the rest of the year they only had a limited amount of time during the day where they could safely hunt. 

But raptorians weren’t the only ones hunting. Other environmental factors such as ancient predators trying to off any competition in gathering scarce resources could have had an impact on when ancient Raptorians felt it was safe to breed. 

However, none of this explains why multiple partners are encouraged during ovumtide. Were they promiscuous? And why is their fertility rate so low? Were they shooting blanks? The answer to both of those may lie in a retrovirus that seemed to have plagued Raptorians at the time. Whatever mutations it introduced were combated by this new way of breeding and raptorian researchers believe genetic variety was the only thing that could ensure the safety of their species, and mating annually.  

And as one can expect from a species only able to have sex once a year, they party like their lives depend on it. Multiple partners are expected in what most of the galaxy calls “the largest communal orgy in the Milky Way.” The Raptorians named that night Ovumtide, and it remains their most important spiritual and social event. 

Other than the pomp and circumstance, Ovumtide has the usual mating ritual aspects, such as decorating your breeding grounds and flaunting your assets, but also includes something Raptorians hold dear even today; pageantry.

Pigmentation and feather patterns can be drastically different after centuries of intercontinental movement and different habitats. Raptorians are able to change the color of their feathers either with topical dyes, or a diet focused on certain compounds, such as the carotenoids in their seafood heavy diets. Blue and pink shrimps are popular choices for their wide range of hues, and due to the effort of committing to a diet for an entire year, are considered the classier choice. For the raptorian that wants to impress a mate during Ovumtide, a concentrated effort must be put into eating a singular natural pigment, so that their coat can coordinate with their Ovumtide outfit.

And like last year's fashion, they molt their feathers once Ovumtide ends, to begin styling for next year’s festivities.

Gender

Raptorians have two genders, flume and auct, which roughly translates to egg layer and soul giver respectively. However, despite the etymology, sex has been decoupled from gender for most of Raptorian history. Sapients that hail from cultures with a male/female gender binary often make the mistake of assuming aucts are men and flumes are women, mostly due to universal translators giving them masculine and feminine pronouns. Rather, it relates to their relationship with community and society at large.

Put simply: aucts top, and flumes bottom.

Raptorian society is heavily influenced by dyads. The shell and the yolk, the feather and the talon, and so on. Balance between flumes and aucts is a crucial aspect to a functioning raptorian community. 

Work is divided by “talon” and “nest” and is defined by what is being manipulated. If a physical object is manipulated then its “talon” work, like moving cargo, crafting incubators, or repairing power lines. If what’s being manipulated isn’t real, like keeping ledgers, coding programs, or reading the voltage outputs on factory machines, then it’s “nest” work. The balance of this work is meticulously maintained, and if there aren’t enough flumes, aucts will change to better help the group in nest work. Likewise, if there aren’t enough aucts, flumes will do more heavy lifting. These expectations aren’t just societal, but biological as well. 

In a form of phenotypic plasticity, a lack of aucts or flumes will cause some from the majority to undergo hormonal changes. Muscle mass is gained when filling the role of an auct, while pattern recognition and eyesight improves for those that become flumes. What triggers these changes isn’t well known, but well documented. In one case study a group of aucts were sent to a research outpost in the polar ammonia lakes.  Due to unforeseen events, the all-auct team was forced to bunker down at the outpost for a year. Half of them lost 40% of muscle mass without a negative impact on their health, and gained improved hand eye coordination. During ovumtide they were accommodating. 

Another instance of this phenomenon occurred in a production town that specialized in leather and steel crafts. The assignment computer glitched out and filled the town with primarily flumes. In a short amount of time nearly half of them traded their stored fat for a high amount of muscle bulk in their arms and chest. Ovumtide wasn’t an issue for the town residents thanks to production tool crafting access. 

Because of this biological phenomenon, Raptoria’s governments and religions believe in what the body says rather than the mind piloting it. This became the cause for the mass exodus to Raptova—the belief that gender shouldn’t exist for the purposes of society, but rather the individual. 

The separatists believed that just because someone was physically an auct didn’t mean they wanted to do manual labor all day, or fill someone during ovumtide. Some were physically flumes, but spiritually aucts, and even without the added muscle mass could help their community like any ‘Talon Man’.

On the separatist colony world of Raptova, a third unnamed gender arose. It was reserved for the Ovumarch, the leaders and guides of this new world. They act as both auct and flume as a way to say all forms of identity were welcome, as well as a way to see from the perspective of both sides. Physically, their bodies will still undergo the changes that will occur naturally.

i love thinking abt fashion and beauty standards in WoF bc its so interesting how different the culture between each tribe is

i tried to type out my ideas but its not coming outta my brain hold on

icewings with being shiny and having the biggest antlers and being the cleanest and who has the bluest eyes and having the sharpest quills, theyd probably only wear white or blue 😒

sandwings with having the coolest patterns and having well-groomed hair and stuff abt hair length and style standards changing over time and whos ruling them - up until Oasises rule the beauty standard for hair would be whatever the queen (and sometimes her relatives) look like, and then during the sucession war youre hair could indicate whos side you were on, like being on Blisters side their hair would be braided and long and never cut and facial hair meh :/ they can do whatever as long as its taken care of, but on Burns side theyd have shorter hair, often being shaved/cut into a buzz cut and then cut/shaved back before it grows back and always growing out facial hair and on Blazes side they would care more about their hair being shiny and light or colourful, often beached/dyed white or blue to show that they are allied with icewings, and even soem dragons imitating Queen Glaciers mane of quills but not growing any facial hair even tho they are based in the Ice Kingdom bc honestly Blaze isnt that much of a practical thinker (or one at all) and Scorpian Den dragibs giving zero fucks abt the beauty standards of the rest of the tribe, individual gangs/cults/families/whatever have their own thing and after Thorn becomes queen hair styles become less 'everyone should be like this and or strive to be this' and more of an occupational and place in society type of thing, and also things like obsidian and sapphires and black, blue and pink fabric would probably be something that they think looks pretty

rainwings and being bright and colourful but also being flexible (BECAUSE ITS COOL AND THEY WOULD THINK ITS IMPRESSIVE not for sexual reasons and if someone makes a comment like that im going to throw up a foldable IKEA table) but also smelling nice, like certain flowers or fruit

nightwings with being large and healthy would probably be the traits that they find most desireable, i think that they would incorperate lots of moons and stars and space imagery into their fashion as well as silver and gold

mudwings actually probably wouldnt have beauty standards because they dont care that much about attracting other dragons, but for specific rare 'falling in love' type of instances they would learn about what that dragon likes, for fashion they also probably wouldnt have much except for gold veins between their scales and some headpeices that look like plants or are woven from plants, but that would be more common for higher classes and less common for lower classes

with skywing fashion i was thinking sorta based off european culture (mostly gaelic culture), but for skywings their beauty standards and fashion change with their royalty more than any other tribe, i think in Queen Firestorms rule the beauty standards would be far more relaxed than Scarlets beauty standards, but under Queen Rubys rule the standards would be the most relaxed, but all of them do have one thing in common - jewels, although commonly skywings will uphold the standard that traditional european based (closest to canon) skywings and rocky skywings are more beautiful, although within the avian skywing community they do have similair standards to birds, although its more that avian skywings of all genders look for shinier and brighter partners, duller avian skywings who dont end up having eggs probably end up with each other in toxic marriages/partnerships because they dont really love the other but they want to keep up appearances within their community

seawings - i think they, surprisngly dont have that many beauty standards despite the only two queens we've been shown being absolutely obsessed (/j i am joking) although they definitely do like pearls and probably shells, and patterns of sea stars and sea jellies would be used in clothing

I can think of a few characters that i think would be certain dragons (note: its been a while since i read wof, i dont think ive read the latest book to come out, and im just remembering the dragons abilities off memory)

Shen qingqiu - Leafwing (bc hes green & hes leaf trick)

Binghe - nightwing (i think all the heavenly demons would be nightwings, mainly bc of now nightwings wee portrayed and the fact that its mentioned that all 3 heavely demons wear black) actually im coming back as im wring sqhs and says nighwing skywing hybrid maybe (this would make sxy a skywing. )

Mobei-jun - icewing (no explantion needed. I think ge was the first one i though of when i came up with this a few minuets ago)

Shang qinghua - sandwing (idk. Paralell to mbj ig. Also maybe a pun with him being a traitor and sw having scorpian tails. Idk why but to me it works quute well) (either sandwing or seawing) (yeah seawing works quite well as their only ability is to breathe underwater. And to light up to communicate underwater. In a secret language) (could be a hybrid of the two) sandwing/seawing

Tianlang-jun - nightwing (i think a way to explain the blood parasites would for them to be an animus curse(or well blessing ig) )

Zhuzhi lang - nightwing×rainwing hybrid (i originally was gonna say leafwing instead of rw but then i remembered that rw are serpentine and have venom)

Lpm&opm - hivewings (the huahuan lady and her dad. Just thought of this one as i was thinking about what other characters would work. This just works for some reason)

Su xiyan - skywing (im not really sure tbh. Skywing is just the one i thought of)

Sha hualing - ? (Idk skywing, hivewing or sandwing are my only guesses)

Yue qingyuan - mudwing (i was thinking about the other dragons sepcies when i realised that yqy fits being a mw quite well. Also in a tragic way! Cuz of the whole bigwing thing)

Ning yingying - silkwing (?maybe. im running out of ideas. Sw also works with lmy so...)

Liu mingyan - silkwing (this works well)

Gongyi xiao - hivewing×skywing (due to him looking similar/giving of the same vibes a binghe i think he would be half whatever half binghe is)

Idk what would divide the humans (now dragons and the demons (also now dragons) in this au. You could say that its a couple of the species (nightwings, icewing, and whatever the other dragons are) vs the other species but it doesnt really work. So maybe its just two factions fighting each other, similar to the sandwing sucession.

Just realised that jade mountain exists. Which has a variety of dragon species. So maybe the cang qiong sect takes its place.

Maybe zzl rainwing side is from a clan of rainwings that were cursed with animus magic to explain his snake form?

Alejandro: “hermano, estábamos justo en el rastro de Valeria. Ella deja huellas donde quiera que vaya.”

Alejandro glanced out the windshield as Rudy drove. The words he spoke seemed like a distant victory but the thought brought the blood pumping to his ears. The idea of Valeria, finally going down from what she did and has done.

The stretch of road seemed to go on forever, the once fields and pastures now dry and barren. A cartel wonderland for those who needed it. The place looked like it could use a well good rain but it never seemed to come. There was dry bush, cactus and more dead brush. Nothing for miles besides for the dead wilderness and Alejandro and Rudy.

Rodolfo (Rudy): “Coronel Varges...Alejandro. Valerias por aquí, lo sé. Como dijiste, ella deja un rastro, pero siento que hay más aquí de lo que vemos...”

Alejandro let out a small gruff chuckle and glanced at Rudy. A smirk on his lips.

Alejandro: “Valeria’s a scorpion hermano. Vicious, never make a deal cause she crush her way though it. Scorpian mujer…”

Rudy nodded as he looked down the road. His hands on the steering wheel why his eyes were on the road.

He knew all about Valeria, being there and watching her when she was a member of Los Vaqueros. A scorpian she was. She left, did her job but then betrayed.

Rudy: “sí, Valerias una escorpiana. Ella nos picó, es una mujer escorpiana.”

Rudy let out a small sigh before clicking on his comms and glancing at the scenery.

The Sun was fading behind the horizon fast, the last rays bobbing over the under toe. And as quickly as it was there the last rays dipped and disappeared. Only leaving shades of blue to black. White stars splattered like paint across the sky.

The last rays of lights played tricks on the plants of the desert. The Cactus’s shadows morphing and elongating. Making crude shapes of darkness on the dry earth. And the plants in the shadows becoming creatures that seemed to reach out and grow before disappearing under the cover of night.

And with the last rays of light the creatures of the desert began to awake. The distant chirp of a bird to the rattle of a rattlesnake. To the distance call of an owl perched in its post, nesting in the hallow of a cactus. Then a cry of a pack of coyotes whom solemn howl filled the distance valleys and crevices in the desert. Calling out for a friend to answer its call.

Rudy had grown attuned to the regular night life of the desert, it was almost…peaceful in a sense. His focus on the world, his best friend and military comrade at his side. Nothing could get better than thi-

Just then a large surprising loud clank came from the side of the vehicle. As if a rock was thrown. No…it couldn’t be, they were on a dirt road. That was normal right?

Clank!

Alejandro sat up, pulling his gun up. And quickly fixed his gear.

Alejandro: “Rudy, hermano. Más despacio, algo pasa. voy a ir a investigar.”

Rudy’s head quickly swiveled over to him. He went to speak but the door to the passengers side closed with a loud click. Rudy let out an exasperated sigh.

Rudy: “hermano, tu vas a ser la muerte para mí.”

Rudy quickly grabbed his gun, and opened the driver side door. He hopped out, and went over to Alejandro’s side. Like he always was.

Rudy: “Alejandro, eso esta pasando”

Alejandro sneered at him and pushed Rudy aside.

Alejandro: “Cartel, that’s what.”

Rudy stayed quiet as he watched Alejandro. Staying quiet to not get caught up in Alejandro’s fiery anger.

There in the side of the military HMVEE was 2 large dents. Looking as if fist sized stones were thrown. Thrown with enough strength to dent HMVEE armor.

Alejandro looked at Rudy and snapped,

Alejandro: “Rudy! Why the hell are you no speaking, don’t freeze up on me you B@sterd. There’s Cartel on us, let move!”

Rudy was still there, all he could do was nod and agree. He turned and quickly followed Alejandro back into the vehicle and sped off. He stayed silent, watching the road. Silence…not animals anymore, no desert wind, no crickets. No voices. Just the HMVEE driving down the rough patch of road and the constant crunch of dirt and gravel.

Just then out of the middle of day, the night lit up. Bright light flooded the HMVEE cabin. The eyes of the devil meeting those of Rudy. Before anything could be registered. Something Slammed head on with the vehicle. The devil seemed to explode, crush and screech. As if a hellish beast erupted from the engine of the HMVEE. Roaring out flames from the belly of the beast, crying pain of hell.

Rudy collided with the wheel, hot white pain flooded his senses. Hot white wave of pain rolled over him, unable to do anything besides to sit pinned between the seat and the wheel…and the hellish beast that had come at them. Flaming hot hand reaching out at him, beckoning him to join them. But then everything went black, he fell forward onto the wheel and blacked out.

Alligator Lizard - May 2023 There are thousands of lizards running around Catalina State Park. I can identify most of them as they scurry past. The Zebra Lizards are perhaps easiest to identify because they have a very distinctive black and white tail which they often hold curled up over their body like the stinger on a scorpian. This particular lizard, which was alongside one of the bike paths, was new to me. It had a very long tail like a whiptail, but its head was almost pointed. It took a little searching to find that it was a Madrean Alligator Lizard (Elgaria kingii). Its perfect camouflage creates a fine image with the stripes of its body contrasted to the gravel of the path. MWM

Edit Diary Day 2

Coursework and Production (Post 6)

Day 2 was where things got a lot more technical for us.

We would be working on the background music, our originally planned song did not work out as it did not go with the film. Post this there was a rush to find the right song. We went through many different kinds of songs all while our editor worked on the film.

We found the song we wanted after nearly an hour of trial and error which was the instrumental to Still Lovin You by The Scorpians.

Post this we had to work on the sound effects for the film like the sound of the lids closing and pen clicking:-

We continued to fine-tune and edit the cuts of each scene more smoothly, adding what was visualised for the film and planned. Like the black bars for the aspect ratio.

We also did the titling with the credits, this took a while since we wanted the most aesthetically pleasing font for our film.

This would wrap up Day 2 of editing which overall was quite fun so far, we made real progress on day 2 which meant the load was lightened for Day 3.

Draconicals: The Basics

I was going to put this info in Rogelio’s outline, but decided that maybe this worldbuilding deserves its own post. So here is an outline and explaination for all you need to know about Rogelio’s species(?).

Draconicals are categorized as Reptilians, but they are actually very distinct. The Draconicals are actually some of the earliest beings to live on Etheria. Essentially the Second Ones. They are also the only surviving species(?) on Etheria to have existed at the same time as the First Ones. Unfortunately, all Draconical records to have existed before the First Ones were wiped off the planet are gone, so no one actually knows anything about before that time.

However, Draconicals are known to have a deep connection to the planet, magic, and First Ones tech. Many of them can sense changes in the ground and any nearby magic. They are also highly intoned to the spiritual state of other life forms. But not only do they have a sixth sense or a deep connection to the world around them, they also have evolutionarily good physiology.

Draconical Abilities:

- Damage resistant (though not damage proof) scales (except for the first few days after shedding)

- High stamina

- Good muscle structure (can easily build very strong muscles if they put in the work)

- Incredibly speed and agility (likely their greatest physical strength)

- Can sense spells/enchantments

- Can sense magic users

- Can sense First Ones tech (when in use)

- Communicate using seismis signals

- Connected to runestones (though cannot use them) and can feel when they change in some shape or form

- Connected to the planet of Etheria as a whole

- Will notice changes in the ground when standing on it

- Can occasionally read people’s souls

- Sometimes able to communicate with plants

Draconicals mainly sense things through their tails and feet. For example, one may see their tail slowly swaying back and forth in a precise manner. This is when they feel as though they are picking up on a ‘signal’ or are at least looking for one. They will also feel many vibrations and changes in the ground through their feet, which is why they never wear shoes.

At the start of puberty, male Draconicals tend to begin growing feathers across their head and tail. These feathers are usually vibrant in color, and very beautiful. Male Draconicals’ skin is also likely to be a shade of green or something similar.

Female Draconicals don’t have feathers, but they do often have patterns along their faces and backs. Their skin is also likely to be a variant of dark blue, with the occasional purple. In shadows, they are often mistaken for black, an evolutionary feature made for hunting purposes.

You may notice that there are many Draconicals in the Horde. This was due to invasion. You see, whilst Draconicals are their own race with their own shared culture, they did live in the now collapsed kingdom of Reptilias. This was a kingdom in which many Reptilian sub-races lived together under a shared heritage. But then the Horde invaded (soon after the Kingdom of the Scorpians became part of the Horde), and the Draconical villages living on the outskirts of the kingdom were the first to go.

Many of the adults were wiped out, and all the eggs (plus many kids) were stolen to be raised in the Horde. Many others in the kingdom fled to the Crimson Waste, which is why there are so many Reptilians there: they are essentially refugees (and the decendants of refugees) who weren’t accepted in by other kingdoms. Whilst the Draconicals raised in the Horde were taught about their abilities and certain aspects of their culture, they were also heavily brainwashed by Horde propaganda, and not taught the truth about how the Draconicals became part of the Horde.

The story which they were told is that the princesses were jealous of the Draconicals for their spiritual connections to Etheria, and so they tried to wipe them out. However, in the massacre, right when the princesses were going to destroy all the eggs, the Horde swept in and rescued them! They took all the eggs and a few survivors over to the Fright Zone to protect them. The few survivors became the leaders of the Draconicals, and collectively decided to swear their alligence to the Horde. They saw the destruction the princesses caused, and knew that the princesses’ use of their runestones was upsetting the balance of the planet and nature. They spent the rest of their lives fighting against the tyrannical princesses, but all adult survivors of the Draconical massacre tragically died in battle. This is the story that the Draconicals raised in the Horde were told, despite how untrue it may be.

Even though they consider the Horde to be their home and are greatly loyal to it, the Draconicals raised within the Horde consider each other to be like family, and they understand each other on a very personal level, likely due to being able to communicate with each other in their natural language (seismic communication), as well as having an understanding of the world that is difficult to explain to those who don’t have their powers.

Most, if not all, Draconicals are very spiritual and in tune with nature. In fact, they once got along very well with the Plumerians, and the leaders would often have tea together. This is why the Draconical Genocide was considered an especially tragic event in Plumeria.

Draconicals can often be slightly day-dreamy, as they are almost constantly reflecting on something or other. They are also hyperempathetic due to their more soul based abilities. One major noticeable Draconical trait is existentialism and a bit of a disattachment from reality. Because they are connected to the planet, they’re often macro thinkers who can feel the sheer age and ancientness of the planet and the vastness of the world around them. This causes them to feel like many interpersonal conflicts do not matter in the grand scheme of life and existence, unless it affects things on a scale beyond the interpersonal.

Admittedly, as kind as they often are, many Draconicals have a subconcious superiority complex, seeing themselves as all knowing and wise compared to the slightly foolish and petty non-Draconicals. They will never express these thoughts aloud, of course, lest it upset their more mammalian compatriates. Little do the Draconicals know how little they know.

So that’s all I have on this particular race thus far! I may make more posts outlining their culture and certain aspects of their history pre-genocide, but these are just the basics and what I have written down.

i wish in the show when the boats crashed they would show pieces of them still floating over the water for the rock theory to work better.

i agree about modern technology in etheria being largely overlooked in favor of more simple, elegant magical alternatives already existing. I also like some first ones tech still being used by the princesses every day, like the holo display in brightmoon being first ones tech.

it is odd to me how the show strongly implies that all of the runestone kingdoms on etheria had to have been installed by the first ones because of their connection to the heart, and all (/almost all if you count the fire kingdom) are still in existence 1000 years later, but even the ruling class has forgotten their connection to the first ones and how to read their writing. i guess its necessary for plot reasons and is interesting, but it feels odd that there would be no continuing record of it.

like the oldest king recorded on britroyals is from the year 757 . thats over 1000 years ago, and china has records of dynasties going back to the bronze age like 1600 bc. yes many changes have happened, but 1000 years doesn't seem long enough to make them totally forget their history AND have kept the kingdoms in place. unless, the kingdoms formed after mara caused a planet wide apocalypse. But if so, how could brightmoon have working first ones tech built into their palace? idk.

as for the scorpian kingdom-- tryant king scorpio is as good of an explanation as any. it would explain why the horde would overthrow them first.

i also thought more about scorpias place in all of this. it confused me why if the horde stands for an anti-princess society they would keep scorpia in a privileged position and even tell her she was supposed to be the princess of the black garnet and giver her pictures of her parents. if they didnt want a princess led society and also didnt want to get rid of a baby, also fine. why not just not tell her shes a princess and toss her in with the other orphans? i think the answer is shadow weaver.

when adora came through the portal as a baby, shadow weaver was already enmeshed in the horde. we know she was eventually given access to the black garnet for her power. scorpia doesn't seem like shecould be more than a few years older than catra and adora and the other main teen cast, meaning she was probably a small child when adora was a baby. maybe scorpia was meant to be shadow weavers first adora-- shadow weaver would have known scorpia would have been able to connect to the black garnet. maybe she had been planning to raise her the way she did adora, to be her eventual access point to the heart of etheria. then adora came through the portal, and shadow weaver realized adora was more special and switched her focus onto her, while keeping scorpia close by as a back up.

however, i also like the idea of the scorpion kingdom having mechanical technology before hordak got there so he could be influenced by tech that was already there and have kept the scorpion motif designs. i think maybe the other princesses didn't like the scorpion kingdom before the war because they had an industrial society that they saw as polluting and unnecessary, while the scorpion kingdom saw the other princesses societies as old fashioned and out of touch. as their tech industry became more sophisticated, they stopped venerating magic and saw the warrior-ruling class of princesses sitting in their castles in luxury while the people worked to support this lifestyle in times of peace as oppressive.

Even if grandpa scorpio wasn't personally a tyrant, the people could have seen his rule by birthright as inherently oppressive and the first to go.

then once hordak came onto the scene scorpion tech went from industrial to futuristic in under 30 years. I put it in the original posts tags as a joke, but i do think hordak would have been the one to create the etheria version of the internet, or what ever they used to skype each other and track locations. the hive mind certainly seems to work in a similar way to the internet so he would have been familiar with the concept when he arrived.

he would have created everything he did for purely practical reasons, and the internet and digital video would have been made for military purposes. like i feel the internet exists on etheria but theres no scoial media. theres digital video recording, like the recruiting video clip specials on youtube, but no place where people go to watch videos like youtube. its like the 80s, where most people outside of the military dont know about it and you have to be in the know in order to use it. being part of the etherian makers guild is how you could get in the know. this is how bow gets tracker pads for him and his dads, but they dont seem to be common outside of that. the makers guild would be the only way horde tech slowly gets out of the horde and starts influencing the rest of the planet. i could see individual horde soldiers/civilians (if they have any) being part of the guild and talking to nerds in brightmoon as a pastime.

i also headcanon that maybe dryl once supplied the scorpion kingdom with materials as a mining operation until the horde overtook it. the workers either left because business dried up because none of the other kingdoms had markets for large quantities of the materials they mined and they didnt want to supply the Horde, or left to straight up join the horde. this left a child entrapta alone in the castle to do with it as she wished..... (her parents either dead, or left to find business elsewhere with the intent to return but never did).

more spop world building notes

i was talking with an irl friend about my brightmoon head canons and mentioned to them how odd it was that the boats in spop don't seem to sit in the water, as can be seen from this screenshot of sea worthy:

they also float in the air sometimes i guess.

my friend noted that the fins look like hydrofoils , something i hadn't known about. theyre basically fins that go on the bottom of a boat and, qutoe from the wiki--

"As a hydrofoil craft gains speed, the hydrofoils lift the boat's hull out of the water, decreasing drag and allowing greater speeds."

the resemblance is even better with hydrofoil boards.

real hydrofoils have structures that go under the water in order to give the boat/board the lift to be able to rise up like this

but what if the same effect could be achieved a different way?

we know that there's a stark difference in technology between the horde and the rest of etheria, but Horde navel vessels also appear to float just over the surface of the water despite looking much heavier than the other etherian ships we see.

we also know they have other floating land vehicles like the skiffs.

much of their other vehicle technology has a scorpion aesthetic, as it was adopted or stolen from scorpias former kingdom. examples:

we also know that first one's technology combined magic with regular technology, and entrapta seems to be the first person to have been able to reinvent this kind of tech during the events of the show.

We also know that the galactic horde doesn't use magic in its technology at all, as its a major plot point in season 5.

other people have made theories that i agree with, (but don't feel like trying to dig up their posts) that when hordak arrived on etheria, he did so at a time when anti-princess sentiment was already high and was adopted into an existing conflict because he brought with him stronger technology that could even the playing field with people with magical powers. he then would joined with the scorpion nation in this effort in some way-- whether it was mutually beneficial or not.

it should be noted that light spinner/shadow weaver was at this time a powerful sorceress in illusory magics and is a villian well known for manipulating children in her care (adora, catra, micah). The scorpion kingdom take over could have happened like this or been more of a mutual endeavor and this is just what she chose to show micah because she knew it would compel him to action. Evidence could point either way. Scorpia is the only living scorpion person we ever see in the show, but she's also been treated well (has her own room with a picture of her parents with her on display and a closet full of dresses) and been given status beyond her abilities in the horde. she's supposed to be a force captain in season one, before even catra is made one, and yet when she is left in charge of a crew of soldiers its played for laughs, as if she's never had to do that before in a meaningful way. at least to me, speaks to there having been an alliance between the growing Horde and the scorpion kingdom at least at some point, and maybe a promise to take care of a young princess that was honored.

the textual evidence in support of hordak bringing advanced tech to an old conflict is scorpia mentioning before the prom that the other princesses didn't like her kingdom even before the war, the face that the horde cadets grew up being fed anti-princess propaganda despite the horde harboring a known princess in a position of authority, and the tech that the horde has. As i said before some of it has a scorpion motif like it came from the scorpion kingdom, but some of it does look like what we see of galactic horde tech, notably hordaks lasers and the green forcefield prison cells present in both hordes.

we also know that hordak himself is an engineer, having made many technologies presumably by himself-- such armor to hide and manage his medical condition, something he did not want other people to know about. So its my opinion that all of the tech we seen in the etherian horde is an amalgamation of scorpion tech, galactic horde tech adapted by hordak as well as new designs he invented. none of which use magic before entrapta joins the horde.

so what is my point? well, the other etherian kingdoms other than dryl dont seem to use any modern tech at all, at least at the structural level. like bow and his parents have a data pads they can call each other with, but much of the way people are living in etheria looks almost medieval. the princesses dont seem to have any ground vehicles at all for example.

and yet both sides have floating boats.

one could say the princesses boats are magical while the horde boats use some kind of magnets or some other floating technology we don't have.
