So, I have a lot of necklaces. For a long time I used to hang them off these hanging earring and necklace organizers. But at some point I got these 8" wall mounted racks with dowels and S-hooks so I could hang them up higher and make it harder for my cats to pull them down, since they weren't being held up by velcro anymore. But my girl cat Cara Mia is a real magpie who not only likes to bat at my jewelry, but chew on and destroy some of it it too. I have a mirror armoire that can hold some necklaces, but not nearly enough. So I wanted more closed storage, but I couldn't really find anything that could hold even half of what my dowel racks could while taking up twice as much wall space.
So, I bought a shadowbox big enough for the dowels of both racks to fit inside. I ripped out the canvas-wrapped stryofoam backing it came with and replaced it with some peel-and-stick black felt lining for jewelry boxes. Then I screwed in some J-hooks and secured them in the back with nuts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then I was able to take the dowels and S-hooks I had on my wall mounted racks and put them inside the shadow box. So instead of a standard jewelry cabinet that can usually only fit up to 20 necklaces, I have one that can hold 40.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For some reason the front panel frame was separated into two pieces. It clearly wasn't so the acrylic panel could be removed, because that was held in place by bendable metal tabs, not the frame itself. So I had to glue the frame together, but it seems like the glue that bled through can't just be scraped off. It seems to have actually tarnished the frame. So I bought some corners to cover up the glue stains and give the frame some extra reinforcement.
I also added a latch to keep the cats from being able to open it.
Tumblr media
I wanted to put some art behind the front panel but I needed it to fill 16 3/4"x20 3/4", which is not a standard print size. It's also really hard to find art anymore that's for sure not AI garbage. Finally, I found something I liked that was made in 2015. I couldn't really get it in the size that I wanted on the site where I originally found it, but I figured out that one of the handful of sizes offered would work if I got a custom mat to go with it. But then it turned out that not only are photo mats ridiculously expensive most of the time, but every place that sells custom mats tacks on like $30-$50 to ship to Alaska. But then I realized the site the print was already on offered custom mats. But then it turned out that site also charged an insane shipping fee for Alaska.
But then it turned out the artist also had that particular piece available as a print on Society 6 in a 17"x21" with white borders I could easily trim a quarter inch off of, and they don't charge an arm and a leg to ship to Alaska.
So I got the print and then taped together some cardboard and covered it in more of that black felt lining to create a stiff backing. Finally pealed off the protective layer on the acrylic panel and it immediately scratched before I even had it all the way off.
Whatever.
Anyway, I put in the art and the cardboard backing and now the cabinet is finally finished.
Despite that stupid fucking scratch I'm quite proud.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yes, that is another rack full of necklaces that couldn't fit into the closed storage I already have because I own so much cheap costume jewelry.

A Guide To Buying Quality Framed Prints Online
Tumblr media
Framed Prints Online are an easy way to bring your favorite photos and artwork into your home. And because they're truly one-of-a-kind pieces, framed prints also make great gifts for family and friends! While there are tons of online shops that offer these beautiful products, it can be difficult to find the best deals from each site without doing some research first. So below is a simple guide on how to buy framed prints online.
Choose a frame that matches your space.
One of the most important things to consider when choosing a frame is whether or not it will fit into your space. If you have a large wall, for example, you will want something that has enough room for both your artwork and its frame. This can be hard if you're working with limited space and need to keep costs down--but there are ways around this!
Tumblr media
You should also make sure that the frame matches your decor and style so that it doesn't clash with any other pieces in your home. You might want something modern or traditional; either way, make sure it works with what else is in the room before making any purchases! Finally: choose something durable enough for whatever purpose (and weather conditions) may come its way over time--especially if it's outdoors where things tend towards being less protected than they might otherwise be indoors.
Find a frame style that suits your tastes.
Choosing the right frame style is one of the most important steps in purchasing canvas prints online. There are many different types of frames to choose from, each with its own characteristics and best uses. A frame should suit your tastes, fit into your space, complement the subject matter of your print and/or add to its style. If you're looking for something simple but elegant--say for instance a black-and-white photograph of someone eating pasta--a solid wood frame will do just fine. If it's more colorful images that catch your eye (like bright abstract art), then consider going with an acrylic or metal option instead; these materials are lighter and easier on eyes than wood or glass would be in this case. You could even go with both depending on whether or not you want some contrast between them!
Learn how to choose the right matting.
It's important to note that matting is not the same as framing. The frame itself holds the print in place, while matting simply creates a border around it. Matting can be plain or decorative, but no matter what style you choose for your artwork, make sure it suits your tastes and complements other décor in your home or office space. Plain mats provide an elegant look and are often used by artists who want their work to stand out without distraction from other design elements on display--think simple white or black borders around a photograph or painting. Decorative mats add interest with color or pattern; they're ideal if you want something more eye-catching than just plain white space around your piece (think: gold leaf outline). Conclusion I hope you found this guide helpful. I know it can be overwhelming to try and find the perfect framed print for your home, but don't worry! With these tips in mind, you'll be able to make an informed decision about which Framed Prints Online will be right. And remember: quality matters more than anything else when it comes down to choosing framed art prints online or anywhere else for that matter! Good luck! Read the full article

How To Choose the Best Watercolor Paper
Tumblr media
Watercolour is a well-known painting technique that uses pigments to create a three-dimensional, life-like look. Because of the wide variety of colours, textures, and effects that can be created, it is not unusual to see watercolour paintings on a wide variety of surfaces. Watercolour has been used to make oil paintings for decades, but it wasn't until the 1950's that it began to create fine art pieces. Watercolour is often associated with bringing a country home look to the decor of a space or bringing an oceanic feel to paintings done in watercolour. This is because patterns of seashells, birds, and coral are often incorporated into these paintings.
One way to create a beautiful border effect on a wall is by using watercolour pads. The first thing that needs to be done is trace an oval shape onto the wall using a pencil. Once this has been done, it will give the artist the texture that they are looking for.
These types of patterns can be created from acrylic paints that are available at most craft stores. However, if the design is created from watercolour pads it will be much easier to make. The best type of watercolour pads to use are made from rubber-based matte black matte canvases. The texture can be achieved by using a sponge mitt which is covered with a thick black cloth. There are also watercolour pads with an adhesive side, which can be rolled on to create a rough texture.
These pads can be cut by using the blade of scissors or a razor knife. If the painting project deals with straight lines, the pad must have a very even weave. The result should have a soft-shaded look and feel. Many students quality pads contain pigment in the yarn that is ground to a fine powder. These beads can be mixed with the acrylic paint that is applied to the canvas.
Watercolour pads used for oil paintings have a different texture than the sheets used for drawing and sketching. The canvas should be stretched onto firm support such as a wooden frame. After this has been done, it should be brought back down onto the backing and allowed to dry completely. The drying process will take several hours and will depend on the painting styles being used. Some artists like their paintings to be very dry, while others prefer the pads to be slightly damp.
The process for cutting these pads is just the same as preparing the sheets needed for oil painting. First, the student must draft all the required materials, including a brush, canvas, warp, and brushes. When everything is ready, the pad is cut out from the sheets using the blade of scissors or a razor knife. The pad is then placed onto the support and allowed to dry completely. Once it is scorched, the pad can be reused.
There are many advantages of using watercolour paper. These pads are more durable than oil paints because they contain acrylics. These types of paints are more durable than watercolour paintings used on glass canvases. The paper can also withstand high temperatures, which is essential when working with delicate paintings on wood. These canvases can be extremely heavy, and if a hole is cut in the middle of the canvas, it can warp the piece of watercolour paper.
The most important consideration when looking for the best watercolour paper is the quality of the paper. This should be made based on the weight of the art project and the drying time. When selecting paper for an oil painting project, the thickness should be at least one-fourth of an inch. A thicker paper will add stiffness to the piece and make it much harder to work with. For shorter pieces that only need to dry a few hours, the thickness should be one half of an inch.

canvas wall art
Whether you're looking for a family holiday or a school photo timeline, canvas prints are a great way to show off your favorite photos. Not only do they live somewhere, but they are also an artistic way to update a room.
A canvas print, not to be confused with a canvas painting, is an image printed from an inkjet printer onto canvas. Once printed, the canvas gets stretched onto a frame. Some people opt for a frameless border while others prefer framed canvas prints. To create an unframed canvas print, many use the gallery-wrapping technique. During this process, the canvas is wrapped around the stretcher bars and secured to the frame.
There is common confusion between mounted prints, acrylic prints and canvas prints. A mounted print is a paper print attached to a backing board. The emphasis of this print is to preserve the photo and prepare it for framing or hanging on a wall.
An acrylic print takes an image printed on photographic paper. The image is then placed between sheets of acrylic, often referred to as plexiglass. When comparing the three types of prints, canvas prints evoke an artistic feel. This is because they’re similar in appearance to oil and acrylic paintings.
What Is Canvas Made Of?
Canvas is a strong and durable fabric created with hemp. In more modern times, cotton and linen have replaced hemp. Most of the canvas prints that you buy for your home use cotton or polyester. The main difference between the two is the exactness of the color.
Color seeps into cloth made with cotton fibers while it remains on the surface of synthetic polyester strands. Because of this, polyester prints are more vivid and cotton prints are longer-lasting.
So which is better? It depends on what you’re looking for. Many consider cotton prints higher-quality and closer to what you would find in a museum. But polyester is the more affordable option, and it also yields bold and colorful prints.
Canvas Prints Vs Framed Prints
In modern decor, it’s common to mix canvas prints and framed prints. There’s a reason for that. Framed prints tie into the general decor of a room by connecting the color scheme with the frame. They also shift the mood of the photo or artwork with the type of frame chosen. With a simple black border frame, the focus remains on the artwork or photo. But more stylized frames like contemporary or traditional, bring out the character of the photo. When choosing frames, the furniture and room decor are important to maintain cohesion.
  Metal Vs Canvas
Metal prints and canvas prints yield very different results due to the material the photos are printed on. High-definition photos printed on .45 inch thick metal panels have a sleek, clean look. These prints are also glass free and with rounded corners, making them resistant to breakage. Depending on the selected finish, metal prints have a metallic coating appearance. This is different from the softer material and more vibrant color on a canvas print.
Acrylic Vs Canvas
Acrylic prints and canvas prints differ in material, texture, and appearance. While canvas prints are printed directly onto the cotton or linen material, acrylic prints are printed onto photo paper. This print is then pressed between acrylic sheets or plexiglass. Both of these types of prints have vivid color, but a canvas print would look more similar in texture to something you’d see in a museum.
Art Print Vs Canvas
Art prints most notably differ in size, texture, thickness, and finish. Where a canvas print is printed on cotton or linen canvas, an art print is printed on cardstock. Our premium cardstock can either include a matte finish or Pearl Shimmer finish. Either option appears as a clear, and crisp image with vivid colors. The final major difference between a non-framed art print and a canvas print is price, where the art print would be considerably less.
Printing On Paper Vs Printing On Canvas
Photography has come a long way since developing film in a darkroom with photographic paper. Yet printing on paper is still the traditional method that many people trust. To get a better understanding of the differences between printing on paper and printing on canvas, let’s explore the advantages and disadvantages.
Printing on paper advantages – We’re most familiar with photo printing on paper so we know what to expect. The smooth surface depicts sharper details which is important when reproducing smaller prints.
Printing on paper disadvantages – Paper prints can have a glare or reflection caused by sunlight. They’re not ideal when reproducing artwork since paper lacks the texture found in canvas wall art. Finally, framing a paper print can become costly when considering large print sizes.
Printing on canvas advantages – We’re conditioned to seeing art completed on canvas. Because of this, printing on canvas is the preferred choice when going for a “painted” effect. Canvas prints enhance many decor styles with the contemporary gallery-wrapped edges. For large prints, canvas is the more affordable option that also outlasts paper because of the durable plain weaving.
Printing on canvas disadvantages – The texture of canvas is ideal for art, but can distract from photos. That’s why careful photo selection is important. It’s also good to use a system that alerts you of poor photo quality, which is a feature included when customizing one of our prints. Unlike paper prints that you can swap out of a frame, canvas prints are permanent.
canvas wall art Sea Beach Pictures Artwork
High definition modern artwork pictures photo prints on canvas with vivid color on thick high quality canvas to brighten the walls of your home, and relax you after work. The giclee canvas prints is already perfectly stretched on wooden frame with hooks mounted on each panel ready to hang out of box. The side margins are also printed to create a particularly decorative effect. It is sure to captivate wherever it is hung.
Types Of Canvas Print Layouts
Canvas types and choices easily differ depending on the space and layout of your wall. If you’re trying to decide what kind of canvases work best for your room’s layout, check out our advice below.
Single Canvas: Single canvases are a great choice or large, statement pieces or for smaller spaces in your home where more than one canvas print feels crowded.
Multi-panel: If you have a larger wall space or plenty of room for canvas prints, you may want to create a multi-panel layout. Whether you use 2, 3, or even 10 canvas prints, you can develop a beautiful layout that fits any space. For additional help make sure to visit our resource on how to hang canvas art.
Create an authentic canvas wall art experience for your home with your favorite photos, or simply showcase your favorite images and memories a little more stylishly—you can customize them further by adding a frame. Custom size canvas prints are a great way to add an artistic personal touch to any room in your home and make a unique gift.

Public access description
The Works of Geoffrey Chaucer published by the Kelmscott Press was the last great work of William Morris, and the icon of the private press movement, the printing revival he inspired. The volume contains 87 wood-cut illustrations by Edward Burne-Jones, who was a close friend of Morris. The Gothic-inspired type was specially designed by William Morris and named 'Chaucer' after this book. The book brought together Morris's passion for the medieval period and his commitment to beautiful hand-crafted productions and was published shortly before he died. 425 copies were printed, sold at £20 each.
This Kelmscott Chaucer had an undistinguished binding when acquired by the present owner, so that he felt justified in altering its condition. He selected Dominic Riley, a distinguished British designer bookbinder for the commission. Riley studied at the London College of Printing. He has won several major bookbinding awards, and was elected a Fellow of the Designer Bookbinders in 2008. He now works and teaches in Britain and the US.
The binder conceived the work as an overt homage to Morris, basing the design upon the mirror forms of his initials: ‘W M’. Several techniques were used (including modern digital methods to produce the stamps). The final work is grand and dignified, its geometric exactness relieved with touches of naturalistic ornamentation based on the book’s border decoration, and its use of the colour red echoes the red used for the rubrics in the text (based on medieval and Renaissance practice of highlighting headings in red ink).

2nd book I chose was the 2018 sketch book ( 2018 Sketch Collection) by South Korean Artist  Kim Jung Gi I discovered his work on instagram a couple days ago and I loved the variety simplicity and the different style of his work so when i thought of an artist for this task I selected him :)    https://www.kimjunggi.net/biography-v2/   https://www.kimjunggius.com/pages/about-artist
Korean artist Kim Jung Gi was born in 1975 in the town of Goyang-Si, located in the province of Kyongki-Do South Korea.  At 19, this budding artist enrolled at a Fine Arts School, majoring in Art and Design.  He attended Dong-Eui University in Busan for three years and did his two years in the South Korean army as a part of the Special Forces Unit.  Here, he was able to memorize the array of different weapons and vehicles.
Kim’s most notable creative asset is his memory, something he has developed over a number of years.  His ability to render extremely complicated scenes near-perfectly from memory, without the aid of references, has stretched the boundaries of what many artists believed was possible.
Kim Jung Gi’s first publication – Funny Funny – was published in Young Jump magazine. He wrote a number of short stories and held exhibitions for his work that led to his teaching manhwa (Korean comic book) to various private schools and universities.  Kim collaborated with Seung-Jin Park, the writer of Tiger the Long Tail, to draw six volumes for his comic.  Kim also worked alongside French author Bernard Werber, illustrating two novels he had written – “Paradise” in 2010 and “Third Humanity” in 2013.
In 2011, Kim Jung Gi partook in the Comic Festival held in Bucheon where, for the first time ever, he drew live. In most cases, artists showcase a framed drawing or painting, but KJG decided to do something different. He placed paper up on three walls around his table and began drawing.
Superani CEO Hyun Jin Kim videoed and posted the entire process on YouTube and, as some videos tend to do, went viral. This led to the invitation to different worldwide events.  In recent years, he has accepted invitations to perform in France, America, all around Asia and now in Japan for his first show simply titled “Drawing Exhibition”.
Kim has six sketchbooks in print, which equate to about 4,500 pages’ worth of drawings in a span of 12 years. He also collaborated with the legendary Japanese artist Katsuya Terada in 2017.  The pair put together an amazing sketchbook of various drawings, showing off their talents.
He’s worked in various industries – movies, music, and government. Kim put together a feature exhibition in Cheongwadae” the Republic of Korea’s president’s official workplace and residence.  He was also hired by Korean Hip-Hop artist Drunken Tiger to create the album cover.
He holds the record for “Longest drawing by an individual” in the Guinness World Records book.

I like both works because to me they are quite similar william morris working on Chaucer is legendary in itself the level of attention to detail is extraordinary and the colour pallette is simple and the typography is grand and archaic in nature a level of excellence rarely seen nowadays.Kim’s work is highly skilled and varied a comic book style but still unique to him I love black and white simplicity as well as colour however I love the detail and excellence shown in both works. To me skill is important to do one’s best and show originality whilst doing so.Clarity, skill and originality are demonstrated here and that is why I was drawn to both artists.

so. the art.
working around from left to right on the first photo. the #rocksaltbae link is printed by shonuffstudio and was done by @terryparrportfolio
the maps at the top came with different special editions of legend of zelda: breath of the wild
the legend of zelda poster came from the symphony of the goddess band when they visited my town last christmas
the zarya portrait i received from a friend. i looked it up and it seems to have been done by @theminttu. usually it would have a white border but i had it professionally framed at Michaels to have a black matt (it is an official print)
the small posters below and above the overwatch shelf were included with the art book.
the poster to the right of the shelf that says peace and harmony is by @plushi
the korra poster, garnet poster below it, and steven poster a couple to the right of that are all @lauraknatt
the first fusion edition of garnet is another @plushi
the acrylic paintings are both mine. the left is anna from frozen but in a legend of zelda way and the right is lucario. the link portrait above both of those is a digital piece by my cousin.
the top deadpool poster is another by @terryparrportfolio
the amazing spiderman is a metal poster i bought a while back and the odd shaped pencil drawing and tiny canvas are both sketches i did. the paper sketch is a giant holding a sun floating in space if you invert the colors and the tiny canvas is flowey the flower.
the last photo shows a couple framed originals i have. the top is a mastercopy of a sketch frank lloyd wright did of falling water and the bottom one is a one panel watercolor comic i bought from @toodrunktofindaurl
lastly there are a few overwatch charms hanging up from @plushi and some korra, rwby, SU and Httyd charms from @lauraknatt

In comparison, canvas prints provide a more versatile approach when decorating a wall. You can add them with much less thought since the frameless borders adapt to any style. The vibrant pops of color create new focal points that liven up the room you’re decorating.
Here are some important factors to consider when comparing the two:
 Canvas Prints           Framed Prints
Image printed is permanent
Canvas provides a different texture that adds color depth
Photos do not have a glare or reflection
Light in weight
Prints come in a glossy or matte finish
Can swap out many photos in a frame
Frames complement room decor
Photos can have a glare or reflection
Larger frames are heavy and can be difficult to transport
The bigger the image, the more expensive the frame
Metal Vs Canvas
Metal prints and canvas prints yield very different results due to the material the photos are printed on. High-definition photos printed on .45 inch thick metal panels have a sleek, clean look. These prints are also glass free and with rounded corners, making them resistant to breakage. Depending on the selected finish, metal prints have a metallic coating appearance. Anna Barriball
https://www.dailyserving.com/2012/03/anna-barriball/
March 28, 2012 Written by Magdalen Chua
A solo exhibition of works by Anna Barriball (1972, Plymouth) from the past decade is on show at The Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh till 9 April 2012. The exhibition presents selected works  developed from a practice centered on repeated engagements with and between the languages of drawing and sculpture.
Tumblr media
Copper pipes is an example of the way that Barriball uses materials that she works with on paper, from paint, ink and pencil, to create drawings or paintings that embody a three-dimensional quality from the texture or sheen, amplified by its mode of display. Sheets of paper that are rolled and inclined against the wall appear as copper pipes, with a density and lustre anchored by the coats of copper-tinted acrylic paint. In Mirror Window Wall I, II, III, IV, strongly marked paper rubbings of a wall result in a series of drawings that are titled in recognition of its framing – installed behind glass that one can peer through as a window into a wall, or as a reflective mirror. The works speak to a preoccupation not only with acquiring transfers to capture the imprints and textures of surfaces, but also a deep interest in the way that surfaces are inhibiting and constrain, yet can be imbued to evoke an expansion of space beyond the architectural confines of interior and exterior.
Tumblr media
From walls to doors and fireplaces, these surfaces that wrap around or border zones of habitation are treated as animate. Draw (fireplace) is a video installation in a darkened end of a room, of a sheet of tracing paper that is placed over the fireplace. From gentle movements of the tracing paper to intervals when it is adhered against the grate, the chimney as a passage through which air flows becomes personified as a person drawing in breath.
Draw (fireplace) is one of several works in the exhibition that seem to veer away from the technique of drawing. Yet, in this sculptural intervention re-presented as a video projection, the search for the life beneath with an undercurrent of seeking to attribute presence to the invisible, is a thread that runs through Barriball’s works. Perhaps, as aptly titled, one draws not just to form marks and lines, but as an expression of breath and life. As a way to enter Barriball’s works, this idea opens a view to seeing her works as explorations of air in motion – within and through objects and spaces, as breath and wind, and as passages between the animate and inanimate, life and death.
Tumblr media
This idea takes form in 36 Breaths, composed from the blowing of a drop of black ink placed right in the centre of each of 36 photographs arranged into a grid, creating a symphony of splatters. As black and white found photographs of people from a previous generation, there is a sense that these are images of people perhaps no longer existing. The drawing and releasing of one’s breath becomes an unsettling gesture, as if wanting to breathe life into these unknown individuals, to reawaken them, whilst at the same time, with an exhalation creating a blotch that physically blackens and erases them from history.
