Background:

Caspian has had a relatively easy life. He’s a siren Prince that lives in an underwater palace along the Mediterranean Sea. He had a good childhood, although some might call him spoiled, because he is. He likes to do whatever he wants when he can. Sometimes sneaking off to play or go on adventures with other sea creatures. Sometimes you’ll catch him messing with fishermen and releasing sea animals that were caught in nets. He’s not very fond of humans, his father hates them too, but his mother tries to keep an optimism that’s fleeting.

Building up to the present day story, Caspian had escaped the palace to go mess around with some dolphins. A vicious storm caught him off guard and the waves ended up forcibly dragging him through the sea away from home. Landing him into the northern Atlantic. That’s how he ended up so far west towards the Caribbean.

His family name, Glaucus, was true to its origins as the royal family were only ever representative of Glaucus Atlanticus characteristics. As the generation went on, sirens became more powerful and learned how to use their powers and now they can shift to different creatures.

Royalty have distinct features that separate them from their common folk. Their eyes for example, they will always be a variation of gold or purple and they’ll have two freckles diagonal from each other in the iris. One feature that’s rare, but still only presents itself in royal bloodlines is the birthmark of a moon crest. Caspian has one on his back. What’s special about it is that— HA! I’m not going to spoil it until we get to that part 🙈 He couldn’t get the best of both worlds though, because those with the crest aren’t born with a siren song. So his voice doesn’t have an effect on anyone.

Personality:

You better believe this guy is spoiled. He inherited some entitlement and sadism from his father, while still inheriting some compassion and respect from his mother. He can be really defiant and rebellious, mostly because his parents always tried to keep him cooped up. If anybody defies him or says anything he takes offense to, his immediate thought process tends to result in thinking about hurting them. He doesn’t always go through with it if it’s too dramatic of a response. Mercy doesn’t always come so easy to him, though. That being said, he can be very playful and easy going when he’s alone with people or creatures he likes. When he doesn’t someone, he can get a big ego trip from overpowering them and putting them in their place until they crumble at his feet.

Nile Freeman (The Old Guard). like does it surprise anyone she’s at the top of this list? idk. she is so brilliant because her flaws are also her strengths, and that’s how the world works but that’s really exemplified in her i feel. my beloved main character 💖 i miss her and i love that I’ve been writing her more with these prompt fills!

Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games). also should not be a surprise if you’ve seen my blog recently but i do love her because she is just so. she is so many things but she is just so clueless. and I really do love that because if there’s one thing I remember about being 16-17 it’s how unbelievably self centered and clueless i was despite thinking otherwise.

Daisy Jones (Daisy Jones and the Six). there’s a lot of put together people on this list and she’s definitely not that and neither am i. she feels music so very deeply that it’s part of her like i do and she also has absolute dogshit taste in men like i do. she’s selfish she’s constantly trying to feel something she’s deeply artistic and deeply flawed and imo she’s probably one of the most interesting characters on this list

5. Jackie (Love Lies Bleeding). she is the toxic bisexual representation we all need and deserve!!! she makes things right she gets revenge on the people that have wronged the woman she loves she laughs and smiles she’s a hitchhiker motivated deeply by her dream and she’s a fucking body builder. she nearly had it all until she started murdering people and honestly good for her anyway

Iris West (The Flash). she’s just so cool, she’s a journalist! she’s a superhero! she’s kind and caring and her family’s moral compass and her family’s motivator and honestly her family’s rock and I will absolutely never get over how dirty the CW did her and Candice Patton. completely reprehensible shit.

7. Joan Watson (Elementary). there’s constantly talk about the best Sherlock Holmes adaptation blah blah etc etc but she is hands down the best Watson i think we will ever get. she nails the indulgent supportive exasperation of the character perfectly and the energy and individuality she brings to a character that is so infamous is something really special. i also genuinely love the questions she asks idk i think she just asks really very good questions and that’s exactly what you need in a Watson!

8. Idgie Threadgoode (Fried Green Tomatoes). i am deeply deeply in love with this book. i recently reread it and idk what was going on with me mentally before where i wasn’t obsessed with it but i am now and she has moved into my brain full time. she is so passionate and so fearless and feels everything so deeply and makes the life she wants for herself despite enormous societal obstacles and she is so very very loved.

Elle Woods (Legally Blonde). what can i even say that hasn’t been said probably more eloquently. one of the things i love about her most is that she’s a perfect example of how there’s no such thing as useless knowledge. everything you know is valuable and worthwhile and useful and everything you love and care about will someday come to help you when you need it. i’ve thought about becoming a lawyer for a while now but if i actually go through with it it’s down to her!!!

10. Louise Banks (Arrival). obviously Arrival is one of my favorite movies but the reason she’s on this list is because she makes the absolutely insane and incredibly brave choice that she wouldn’t change anything. she knows the future she knows what will happen she knows the devastation awaiting her and she makes the conscious decision not to try and avoid or fight that, but to welcome that. and that is one of the most metal fucking things i’ve ever seen.

1. Yes, but what they know is not the full truth typically. Best example is in Young Justice, the world is made to believe their base is the Hall of Justice, when that’s just a ruse, the real base is an orbiting satellite in space called the Watchtower.

birdie takes nothing too serious, and high society is nothing different. they only see what benefits them - - as an astor cousin, child one of the richest men in america, they have a leeway to their arrogance and indulgence and they use it as they see fit. they adore the socialization aspect of it all, and often search for subjects for their work amongst the people of the ton.

headcanons :

when chuck huang first went to new york, in the 50s, he may have went into the season expecting to land himself a wife, but he certainly didn’t expect to meet and fall for an astor. only the very fresh second generation of an immigrant family made rich by the gold rush, it was unlikely he would be the best fit for an astor daughter, yet bernie would always tell their story as a love story. for why else would she leave new york and go all the way to california? it was a new world, in all senses of the world. she had to acclimate to her husband’s state, culture, life.

thankfully, the affection they had for one another grew into respect and a partnership that would only grow chuck’s prospects though it was for his own self that he gained the one that would make him famous all around america: the central pacific railroad along with three friends, chuck became known to carry the project to build the first transcontinental railroad in northern america, a railroad that would cover from east to west. it was chuck who would hammer in the golden spike along the way; once it was driven in, and quickly removed, it would be returned to the huang home in sacramento, not the first and definitely not the last of their gilded objects around the lavish home.

birdie was born way before their father would come in renown. their home was already lavish and great, however, becoming of the huang name — and so was the child. named xiang, an auspicious name chosen by her grandfather, she was meant to soar high as the heir to such a great fortune. right away, bernie, her mother, refused to ever call the child xiang — she called her birdie, instead. isn’t it all the same? possible insensitivity would be washed away as the name became her own, even before her chinese name, or the english name attached to her school papers. that’s what she was: just birdie. they’ve always liked it better this way.

with so much wealth and influence on the tip of their fingers, birdie grew spoiled and indulged to ridiculous standards. all she wanted, she got; she had the opportunity to try horse riding, learn arithmetics, pick whatever language her heart desired, dance and paint and sing and all of that. to their mother’s dismay, most of the things they did, they did in the most basic of fashions but, at the very least, they did it enthusiastically which, theri father said, was a good thing. one needs to keep their spirits high in this world, even in front of failure, chuck would tell them. and so they did.

the one thing birdie liked above all was art. from finger painting, to sketching, to designing the most intricate paintings with oil, that was their calling in life. yet, the eldest by at least a decade, it was obvious that the huang family name would weight on their shoulders. instead of artistic pursuits, they were encouraged to take on practical ones, learn of engineering and architecture and railroads and all things they did not care about — railroads for them only mattered because it lead them to trains, and trains lead them to trips and trips lead them to wherever they wanted, far from their parents.

from the time they were old enough, they would go to spend the seasons in new york. their debut went splendid — at least four offers of marriage they laughed about; thankfully, their father was picky enough to allow her yet this one another fortune. whenever they’re in the city, they stay with their cousins, the astor, and never fail to enjoy what society has to offer. new york is better in every way to california, that they are certain of, and, as their university studies come to its end even as they try to drag it out, birdie thinks that they may just have to find a way to root them here instead of there, somehow.

Nora is a useless lesbian. The second a girl so much as looks at her she forgets how to speedster and usually crashes full-speed into a telephone pole.

Eddie is an extremely repressed bisexual. He was very much aware of the sexual tension between him and Barry.

Siv's attracted to women and Howl from Howl's Moving Castle.

While Jay is Pansexual and doesn't have a gender preference, he definitely has a type (women who could kill him)

🏳️‍⚧️ A gender headcanon

Nora gives off she/they vibes, and no, I have no idea why.

Eddie is 100% cis, but he's definitely willing to play around with gender. Man+, if you would.

Siv has questioned if she might be a he/they rather than a she/they, but eventually settled on the pronouns that they currently use.

Jay's known he was trans since he was like, 3.

😇 A headcanon about their religion/lack thereof

Nora's agnostic, but she believes in angels.

Eddie was raised Catholic and still goes to mass on the holidays.

Siv was raised secular, and has never really looked into or cared about religion.

Jay was raised Christian, but he's agnostic as an adult.

👻 A headcanon about what scares them

Nora believes in ghosts, and she does not fuck around with places that claim to be haunted.

Eddie, after being rescued from Thawne, still gets anxious when he sees that specific shade of yellow in the corner of his eye.

Siv is terrified of ostriches. Blame her 6th birthday trip to the petting zoo for that.

Jay is arachnophobic, and despite him being extremely brave in the face of dangerous superhuman criminals, the second a spider appears, he's yelling for Cassandra to come and kill it because he's too busy screaming.

👽 A headcanon about a weird quirk of theirs

Nora is constantly jittery, and to keep her excess energy in check, she tends to bounce on the balls of her feet.

Eddie eats fried eggs in a bowl, so he can catch all the yolk.

Siv walks with her hands clasped behind her back as a pressure stim (and because her dad used to do it all the time)

Jay used to nibble on the ends of his glasses when he was nervous.

💔 An angsty headcanon

Nora's speed was extremely hard to control at first, due to it having been suppressed for so long.

Eddie blames himself for the death of the guy who was killed by Hannibal Bates, even though it was a shapeshifter in his form, not him.

Siv almost died after the death of the Speed Force, due to her needing a stable connection in order to live, and developed a severe addiction to V9 because of that.

Jay has trouble with PTSD around Siv, even though he knows they would never hurt him, he just can't be around speedsters after what happened with Zoom.

👗 A headcanon about their clothes

Nora's favorite color is not purple. It's Iris' favorite (the jacket's from "Run, Iris, Run").

Eddie basically lives in his uniform. He owns other clothes, but why bother getting other clothes dirty if you're only going to be wearing them for a few hours before bed?

Siv dresses in all black not for edgelord reasons, but because she can't match clothes for the life of her and they know that black always matches black.

Even after he has top surgery, Jay still wears his "dysphoria hoodie" with Storm from X-Men all the time because he got it just before Gina died.

🔪 A headcanon relating to fighting/violence

Before getting her powers, Nora had never been in a physical fight outside of schoolyard scrapes.

If he has to shoot a person in the line of duty, Eddie is unable to sleep for days after.

Siv's septum piercing is crooked due to the fact that she has a deviated septum (deeeeeeeeeefinitely not from all the fights they got in as a kid).

While Jay is usually a very calm, thoughtful guy, when his berzerk button goes off, he goes absolutely apeshit. Like, full-on bloodlust rampage.

😬 A headcanon about the worst thing they’ve done

The worst thing Nora's done is continue working with Thawne after finding out that he killed her grandma. However, because that felt so long ago and Nora had no real connection to her because both her and Barry were dead by the time Nora was like, 2, she didn't see it as much of a big deal as it should have been.

Eddie feels extremely guilty for attempting to track down and neutralize The Flash, not knowing that it was Barry.

Siv shot and killed their universe's Eddie Thawne, effectively committing temporal suicide to erase her father. The guilt for his death still follows her, haunting them just like Gina's death.

When Cassandra was kidnapped and replaced by a shapeshifter, Jay did not hesitate to vaporize said shapeshifter for torturing Cassandra while she was held captive.

😶 A random headcanon!

Nora is green/orange colorblind

Eddie wonders if his influence had anything to do with Eobard being a massive jerk (it didn't)

Siv is extremely lactose intolerant, and is very upset that being a speedster didn't fix that.

Jay 3D printed little spikes to put on the handles of his wheelchair so strangers wouldn't touch it without his consent.

1) Krystal being the daughter of Captain Cold AND the Flash and Iris West.

2) Her powers constantly killing her over and over again because ice powers do not mix with speed.

Oh they are going to be the absolute worse about it. They are never going to let Lewis live such information down. You can just imagine the jokes and the memes that'll be made. "When your dad said he was fighting demons, he meant he was fighting bisexuality."

They're going to be like "Wtf" because they've never heard of something like that happening
