How did Arthur (the kid) end up in space? Well, in this universe, there's a sort of... occupation, I suppose? Known as being a Collector. Collectors are basically a niche category of the super wealthy that display their wealth to likeminded others by collecting the 'oddities of the universe'. This typically includes rare flora/fauna from known planets, abnormal/mutated creatures, whatever they can get their hands on that visitors won't have seen before. But the wealthiest of Collectors set their sights above that; on things from undiscovered planets.
Now, delving into uncharted space is very illegal and incredibly dangerous. But some people will do anything as long as the price as right, and aliens known as Probers make their livelihoods dipping in and out of uncharted space, hunting for interesting bits and bobs on unexplored planets. It was one such Prober who struck it rich and discovered an unrecorded planet teeming with organic life, which they swiftly snatched up a few samples of, enough to fill a bioblock, and scurried back to society to pawn off. Such samples included some trees, some foliage, two deer, a squirrel, a fox, and a very unfortunate 13-year-old, who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. All of these were sold to one exceptionally wealthy Collector, who cheerfully added them to her collection.
And, well. Earth was undiscovered. Nobody knew what any of these creatures they'd found were. And who would have thought to wonder if one of the newest arrivals was actually an non-spacefaring sapient race?
RIP Arthur. He spends a good while in that cage. Don't worry, though! He gets out! and makes a friend :)
Where did he get the suit? This actually goes hand-in-hand with the next question, what does a faungus actually look like? A faungus made the suit! Lindsay, in this au, is a young faungus who is the youngest daughter to a family that makes space gear, similar to the role she plays in canon. Arthur finds her shortly after getting out of the Collector's ship, and she's a champ, and makes him the suit.
The suit you see in the art is a later iteration, of course. The first suit is clunky, and made for a human. But that attracts a lot of attention, and Arthur's petrified of ending up on another Collector ship, so later iterations are made to help him pass as a Faungus.
I haven't drawn many Faungi, but they're kind of exactly what you'd expect-- fleshy, mushroomy, humanoid aliens. They can't audibly communicate; instead, they talk to each other via vibrations transferred through contact and changing the color of their protrusions. Faungi that work with other species tend to get thought-to-speech translators for ease of communication.

New computational framework to make hydrogels more injectable to repair diseased tissue Gel-like materials that can be injected into the body hold great potential to heal injured tissues or manufacture entirely new tissues. Many researchers are working to develop these hydrogels for biomedical uses, but so far very few have made it into the clinic. To help guide in the development of such materials, which are made from microscale building blocks akin to squishy LEGOs, MIT and Harvard University researchers have created a set of computational models to predict the material’s structure, mechanical properties, and functional performance outcomes. The researchers hope that their new framework could make it easier to design materials that can be injected for different types of applications, which until now has been mainly a trial-and-error process. “It’s really exciting from a material standpoint and from a clinical application standpoint,” says Ellen Roche, an associate professor of mechanical engineering and a member of the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science at MIT. “More broadly, it’s a nice example of taking lab-based data and synthesizing it into something usable that can give you predictive guidelines that could be applied to things beyond these hydrogels.” Roche and Jennifer Lewis, the Hansjörg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard, are the senior authors of the study, which appears today in the journal Matter. Connor Verheyen, a graduate student in the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology, is the lead author of the paper.
Material modeling
When individual hydrogel blocks are densely compacted together, they form a gel-like material known as a granular matrix. These materials can act as a solid or a liquid, depending on the conditions, which makes them good candidates for applications such as 3D-bioprinting engineered tissues. Once injected or implanted into the body, they could release drugs or help to regenerate injured tissue. “These materials have a lot of flexibility and customizability, so there’s a lot of excitement about using them for biomedical applications,” Verheyen says While working in Lewis’ lab, Verheyen, who is co-advised by Lewis and Roche, began trying to figure out how to get these materials to be reliably injectable. This turned out to be a difficult task that required a lot of trial-and-error experimentation, by changing different features of the gels in hopes of optimizing their structure and mechanical behavior for injectability. “That spurred the effort to take the empirical data, turn it into something that a machine could read and work with, and then ask it to build a predictive map that we could interrogate to help us understand what was going on and how to go to the next step,” Verheyen says To create their design framework, the researchers broke the assembly process down into several stages. They modeled each of these stages separately, using data from their own experiments, which were done under a variety of different conditions. In the first stage, the model analyzed how bioblock properties are affected by the starting material of the blocks and how they are assembled. In the second stage, the bioblocks are packed together to form structures called “granular hydrogels.” Through their modeling, the researchers identified several factors that influence the injectability of the final gel, including the size and stiffness of the bioblocks, the viscosity of the interstitial fluid between the blocks, and the dimensions of the needle and syringe used to inject the gel.
Better injectability
Now that they have modeled the process from start to finish, the researchers can use their model to predict the best way to create a material with the traits they need for a particular application, instead of going through an extensive trial-and-error process for each new material. “Our long-term goal was to get to the point where we had reliable and predictable injection properties, because that was something that we really struggled with in the lab — getting these materials to flow properly,” Verheyen says He and others in Roche’s lab now plan to use this modeling approach to try to develop materials that could be used for medical applications such as repairing heart defects or delivering drugs to the gastrointestinal tract. The researchers have also made their models and the data they used to generate them available online for other labs to use. “It’s all open source, and hopefully it will reduce the amount of frustration with issues that you might have reproducing something that happened in another lab, or even within one lab when you’re transferring knowledge from one person to another,” Roche says. кранио-сакральная терапия работает, в том числе на скептиках: чувствуют даже те, кто единственно понятным считал раньше классический массаж (имею в виду и массажистов, и клиентов),
наш учитель уникальный (особенно люблю учиться у медиков, которые ушли из традиционной медицины, лично я доверяю больше тем, кто помогает телу исцеляться, а не тем, кто залечивает),
группа сблизилась, нам интересно и на обучении, и на вечерних тусовках после семинара, встречаемся и между семинарами, важно обмениваться опытом.. синергия людей и событий выводит жизнь на другой уровень, это и клиенты мои чувствуют. А сейчас немного о волшебстве остеопатии..

I recently cleaned my filter media thinking it would improve my tank... but I think I did bad and killed all of my bacteria! My tank water has been very cloudy for about a week. What can I do to get it back to clear and healthy? Is there a product? I have heard of the BioBlock, but does it really work?

I’m thinking it’s probably one of two things here... either a) by shifting your filter media you dislodged a lot of waste/junk that’s still kind of circulating, or b) you’re having a (perhaps unrelated?) bloom of some sort. I wouldn’t immediately assume you are having a cycling problem.... run water parameter tests and find out if you have elevated ammonia or nitrite levels.
By the way, how did you clean your filter media? Did you rinse it in a bucket of tank water? Run under tap water? This could play into it.

Con esto tendras la certeza de que cuentas con una colonia bastante densa para tener un tanque sano.
¿que usar para albergar bacteria? Existen muchos productos en la actualidad, por mencionar algunos los biolate, bioblock, canutillos etc etc.
En mi experiencia no hay nada mejor que piedra lo bastante porosa para albergar dicha bacteria. Y soy una persona que es consumista a mas no poder, pero con todos los tropiezos que eh tenido, vi que lo mejor es la piedra, y parq esto debemos de tener un sump lo mas grande posible y asi poder acomodar la mayor cantidad de piedra posible para tener bastante carga de bacteria. "Tip - si solo tienes piedras de tamaño muy grandes estas las puedes romper en mas pequeñas para que entren mas kg de depiedra en el sump"
