Exploring Mui Ne, Vietnam: A Paradise of Natural Wonders and Cultural Riches
Tumblr media
Mui Ne, Vietnam, a coastal haven in the southeastern part of the country, offers an enchanting blend of stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and rich history. This tranquil beach town, part of the larger Phan Thiet city in Binh Thuan Province, has transformed from a sleepy fishing village into one of Vietnam's most popular tourist destinations. With its pristine beaches, unique sand dunes, and a plethora of attractions, Mui Ne promises an unforgettable experience for every traveler. If you are planning a trip, here are some of the top places to visit in Mui Ne and things to do in Mui Ne.
Places to Visit in Mui Ne
Tumblr media
1. The White Sand Dunes (Bau Trang)
One of the most iconic landmarks in Mui Ne, the White Sand Dunes, also known as Bau Trang, resemble a miniature Sahara Desert. These vast, rolling dunes stretch as far as the eye can see, offering a surreal and otherworldly landscape. Visitors can rent quad bikes or take a jeep tour to explore the dunes or simply enjoy a peaceful walk while marveling at the shifting sands. Sunrise and sunset here are particularly spectacular, casting a golden glow over the landscape.
2. The Red Sand Dunes
Located closer to the center of Mui Ne, the Red Sand Dunes are smaller but equally captivating. The reddish-brown hue of the sand provides a striking contrast to the blue sky and sea. This spot is popular for sand sledding, an exhilarating activity enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The Red Sand Dunes are also a great place to capture stunning photographs, especially during the golden hours of dawn and dusk.
3. Fairy Stream (Suoi Tien)
Fairy Stream is a hidden gem that offers a serene and picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of the town. This shallow stream, surrounded by dramatic red and white limestone formations, flows through a lush tropical landscape. Walking barefoot through the cool water while admiring the natural beauty around is a unique and refreshing experience. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the striking contrasts and vivid colors of this enchanting spot.
4. Mui Ne Fishing Village
For a glimpse into the local life, visit the Mui Ne Fishing Village. Here, you can observe traditional fishing practices and see colorful boats bobbing in the water. The village is particularly lively in the early morning when fishermen return with their catch. The sight of the bustling market, where fresh seafood is sold and traded, provides an authentic taste of coastal Vietnamese culture.
5. Po Sah Inu Cham Towers
Perched on a hill overlooking Phan Thiet, the Po Sah Inu Cham Towers are ancient remnants of the Cham civilization that once flourished in this region. Dating back to the 8th century, these towers are an important cultural and historical site. The architecture is impressive, and the views from the hilltop are breathtaking. A visit here offers a fascinating insight into Vietnam's rich heritage and the Cham people's history.
Things to Do in Mui Ne
Tumblr media
1. Kitesurfing and Windsurfing
Mui Ne is renowned for its excellent wind conditions, making it one of the best places in Asia for kitesurfing and windsurfing. With strong and consistent winds, especially from November to April, the town attracts enthusiasts from around the world. Several schools and rental shops along the beach offer lessons and equipment for beginners and experienced surfers alike.
2. Beach Hopping
Mui Ne's coastline is dotted with beautiful beaches, each with its own charm. From the bustling main beach lined with resorts and restaurants to more secluded spots like Suoi Nuoc Beach, there's a beach for every preference. Spend your days swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing on the soft sand while enjoying the tropical atmosphere.
3. Exploring Local Cuisine
A visit to Mui Ne would be incomplete without indulging in the local cuisine. Fresh seafood is a highlight, with dishes like grilled scallops, squid, and shrimp being local favorites. Additionally, don't miss out on trying Banh Xeo (Vietnamese pancake) and fresh spring rolls. For a unique dining experience, visit the Mui Ne Night Market, where you can sample a variety of street food while soaking in the lively atmosphere.
4. Visiting the Lotus Lake (Bau Sen)
Located near the White Sand Dunes, the Lotus Lake, or Bau Sen, is a beautiful freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery and blooming lotus flowers. The contrast between the serene lake and the sandy dunes creates a picturesque setting. It's an ideal spot for picnicking, photography, or simply unwinding in nature's embrace.
5. Spa and Wellness
After a day of exploration, treat yourself to a rejuvenating spa session. Many resorts and spas in Mui Ne offer traditional Vietnamese massages, aromatherapy, and other wellness treatments. This is a perfect way to relax and recharge, ensuring you leave Mui Ne feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Travel Quang Nam and explore the beauty of remote places
Hello everybody, I moved from Hanoi to Hoi An to live since 2014. I work in the tourism industry and I'm quite nomadic, travel everywhere. And after many years living in Hoi An I have learnt more about Quang Nam province, I see that this province not only has Hoi An ancient town and My Son sanctuary but also many other tourist attractions stretching from the East Sea to the border with Laos in Tay Giang, Nam Giang…
Tumblr media
Many Vietnamese people mistake that Hoi An belongs to Da Nang city and most of them come to Da Nang and then rush to Hoi An for a short time and take photos, so they think that tourism in Quang Nam province and Hoi An is not attractive. But actually we need more time to visit, enjoy and learn about the landscape, culture and people of Quang Nam province. It is truly a "Heritage Green Area" with not only world and Vietnamese heritage sites, diverse natural landscapes but also rich indigenous values of the Cham, Co Tu, Ca Dong ethnic groups… Whatever Vietnam tourism has, Quang Nam has it all. Every time I leave home, I have more interesting discoveries like Quang Nam is one of the cradles of the national language, is the hometown of former Hanoi governor Hoang Dieu, and is the land of Ngu Phung Te Phi (5 people who won the grand exam in 1898 Mau Tuat lunar year)…
Quang Nam beach tourism: 125km coastline from Thong Nhat/ Ha My/ An Bang/ Tan Thanh/ Cua Dai/ Cua Khe/ Binh Minh/ Tam Thanh/ Tam Hai beaches: In addition to beautiful beaches, there are many other tourist attractions: Cua Khe fish sauce village - Tam Thanh painting village - Tam Tien fish market, - Ban Than rock rapids - Phu Son tunnel pagoda in Nui Thanh district.
River tourism: Quang Nam especially has two rivers running close and parallel to the coast, Co Co and Truong Giang, with very beautiful landscapes. In addition, mother river Thu Bon flows from Hoi An up to Duy Xuyen, Nong Son to Kem Da Dung island and the basin at the foot of Ngoc Linh mountain range.
Route from Hoi An to Duy Xuyen district to Nong Son round way to Hoi An via Que Son: Tra hieu ecological village - Tra Ly lotus pond - Cham capital Tra Kieu (Sa Huynh museum, Champa/ Tra Kieu Holy Mother where the Virgin Mary appeared/My Son Sanctuary) - Vinh Trinh Massacre Remnants - Dai Binh fruit tree village - Kem Da Dung island - East Truong Son road/ elephant conservation area - An Viem hot water spring - Le pass - Hoi An. Go 1 or 2, 3 days, sleep in Dai Binh village.
Route from Hoi An to Tam Ky - Phu Ninh lake - Loc Yen ancient village: from Hoi An, cross Cua Dai bridge, follow Vo Chi Cong beach, the most beautiful road in the Central region connecting Hoi An - Tam Ky, across the Hoiana tourism complex (resort, golf, casino…), through Vinwonder, through vast white sand to visit Ky Anh Tunnel - Tam Thanh Painting Village - Monument of Mother Thu - Huong Tra Sua Village - Phu Ninh Lake, the largest lake in the Central region - Huynh Thuc Khang memorial area - Loc Yen ancient village, Tien river, Lo Thung (Tien Canh commune, Tien Phuoc district). If you have more time, you can explore the Bong Mieu gold mine from the French period and the scenic Ham Ho and White Waterfall in Tam Lanh commune, Phu Ninh district. From here, you can also continue to the Nam/Bac Tra My districts.
Route from Hoi An - Tam Ky - North Tra My - South Tra My districts along National Highway 40B: From the ancient village of Loc Yen, continue up to Bac Tra My district with tourist attractions of Hon Ba Mountain - Muong Village - Nuoc Oa tourist site, Song Tranh hydroelectric power plant. Going further, you will reach Nam Tra My highland district with 3-storey waterfall, 5-storey waterfall, Tay Du Ky waterfall - Tac Po cloud hunting spot - Ngoc Linh ginseng market - Long Tuc terraced fields - Ngoc Linh stopover bordering the Tu Mo Rong district, Kon Tum province at an altitude of more than 1500m. Magnificent Scenery In Less Travelled Places: A Travel Guide for weekend trips in Vietnam (Part 3)
Where to go on a budget!
Looking for uncommon tourist destinations for a 2-3-day vacation in a cost-effective way but you don’t know any place. There are worth going places to visit Vietnam and offer exciting experiences.
VINH HY - PHAN RANG, NINH THUAN
Heading east from Saigon to Nha Trang, you will get Phan Rang on your way. Vinh Hy is located about 40 kilometres northeast of Phan Rang – Thap Cham City. Vinh Hy bay is beautiful with clear blue water, white sand beach circling rocky mountains and green forest.
Tumblr media
GETTING THERE
Taking train to Phan Rang is highly recommended and it is so convenient and timely. By bus, there is not much thing for you to see along the way and also you may get stuck due to traffic jam. We took the train departure at 9AM and we got Thap Cham Railway Station at 3PM. There are 10 trains available daily for you to choose.
We got medium standard tickets which were sitting in compartment with AC, it costs VND 300,000/way/person.
Ideally, it should take the same time (about 6 hours) to get from Saigon to Phan Rang by bus. Yet we prefer train as we can stay away from traffic jam and also in train, we have room to walk around and stretching out.
STAYING
Phan Rang is a quiet province, not much to do there. We decided to stay in Phan Rang due to accommodation cost. Resorts in Vinh Hy bay are luxury, one of them is Amanoi Resort (USD 1,000/night for the cheapest room).
We booked a 2-star hotel, Lan Anh Hotel (~VND 500,000/room/night). The facility was new, services level was okay. We are budgeted travelers; we never pay too much for accommodation, so Lan Anh hotel is good enough.
Tumblr media
The hotel is at center of the city, by the beach. That beach is not beautiful but still crowded in the afternoon.
Making reservation with this kind of hotel is easy, phone in and confirm your booking. Sometimes they ask for deposit, you can bargain for not doing that.
SIGHTS
Thap Cham is a peaceful city but quiet. We only stay in the city for food.
There are a group of ancient towers because this area used to belong to Cham people hundreds years ago. However, towers are not the focus of our trip.
The day after, we went to Vinh Hy bay in the morning. For transportation from place to place, as usual, we prefer to rent a bike. For people who does not have driving taxi, taking cab is another option. However, you better do Google map first and know where you want to go, so you will not be cheated by drivers.
A lot of beautiful scenes along the way.
Tumblr media
A fishing village on the way
Tumblr media
Farmers have salt field by the road.
Tumblr media
The road leading to Vinh Hy Bay.
Tumblr media
We saw a lot of goats. Goat is popular in this area.
Some highlight spots of the tour are: Hang Rai – Nui Chua National Park, Vinh Hy Bay and beaches along the way (Binh Tien & Binh Hung).
Hang Rai – Nui Chua National Park
We stopped by the main entrance, bought the ticket VND 5,000 and kept riding to the parking slot.
We got Hang Rai actually after 5 minutes of riding and 10 minutes of walking up a hill.
Tumblr media
Many couples have their pre-wedding photos here.
We spent about 30 minutes resting, walking around and taking some pictures at Hang Rai then we left. We got back the road and went to Vinh Hy bay.
Vinh Hy Bay
I love beautiful roads there. It is not crowded at all and we were lucky with blue sky and nice weather that day.
Tumblr media
One of passes, this one I took when we just passed Amanoi Resort, where we were not allowed to get in.
Tumblr media
And we got the bay finally.
We took a short rest again and pictures.
Beaches
We headed to the beaches.
Tumblr media
And arrived there after another 30 minutes of riding.
Tumblr media
Gorgeous beaches, clean and clear water is just all over this area, you can stop wherever you want.
Tumblr media
And again, we met people taking pre-wedding pictures here.
Tumblr media
We left there. On the way back, we stopped by a resort and had lunch – Vinh Hy Bay Resort.
We aimed to take a tour and see coral reef but we could not. The tour guide told us at first that they would open the tour once they had 10 guests and it was 7 people already by the time we arrived. We waited for an hour, he came back and said now they only had 3 (not include 2 of us). Then he wanted us to keep waiting, he would go find more guests. We refused him them, just ordered food and had lunch at the resort.
Tumblr media
A corner of Vinh Hy Bay Resort, where we waited for coral reef tour, rested and had lunch.
EATING
A lot of restaurants, street food is available around the central park of Thap Cham City, especially at night.
Tumblr media
And here is our dinner, very local street food. The place was so noisy, crowded, services was acceptable and very reasonable price.
Tumblr media
Banh xeo for dinner
Tumblr media
Banh can for dinner too.
As I mention above, lunch in countryside is not as various as what we have in Saigon. That was the reason that we had lunch in the Vinh Hy Bay Resort. Their food is very good, fresh seafood, well cook and price range is reasonable.
For the other lunch, we just randomly pick a seafood restaurant on Yen Ninh street, near Lan Anh Hotel.
It is better for you to equip yourself with some basic Vietnamese words which help you a lot in ordering food or asking for help.
Tumblr media
Here is Banh canh ca (Vietnamese udon with fish), we had it for breakfast, only VND 15,000/bowl, very popular street food place that we stopped by randomly in Yen Tu street.
BUDGET
Tumblr media
The whole trip to Vinh Hy – Phan Rang for 2 people, 2 days 1 night cost us totally VND 2,500,000.

Binh Lap Island Nha Trang – The Little Maldives Of Vietnam
Tumblr media
Not to mention its most popular attractions, the coastal city Nha Trang boasts a lot of islands and beaches which are beautiful and still pristine. One of them is Binh Lap Island. Located in Tu Binh sea (Tử Bình) (including Binh Ba, Binh Lap, Binh Hung, Binh Tien), in Cam Ranh District, Binh Lap Island (Bình Lập) is less known to tourists because its location is almost separated from outside. It is called the “Maldives of Vietnam” because of the white sand beaches and clear blue waters. This island has sunny but cool and comfortable climate thanks to the sea wind that blows to the mainland.

Vietnam’s top tourist destinations reopen following social distancing ease
Phu Quoc in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, dubbed Vietnam’s ‘Pearl Island’, officially resumed tourist activities on Sunday, with restaurants, hotels and accommodation facilities only receiving domestic visitors and foreigners residing in Vietnam.
However, all bars, karaoke parlors, massage parlors and entertainment facilities are to remain closed under a directive issued last Friday by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Khanh Hoa, home to the famous resort town of Nha Trang, received visitors starting Monday after more than one month of closing all tourist sites and beaches to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Binh Thuan Province, home to Mui Ne, and with nine infections discharged from hospital, has resumed tourist services since Friday alongside measures to stop crowds from gathering.
Mui Ne, often referred to as "a seaside paradise", over the last few years has added to its vacation value by offering many exciting water sports like windsurfing, surfing, jet-skiing, and kayaking.
Binh Dinh, home to popular Quy Nhon, and Da Nang, famous for long, sandy beaches, have allowed swimming, but no crowds.

Authorities in Quang Binh, home to the world’s largest cave Son Doong, also announced to reopen the central province to tourists from Monday. Phong Nha and Tien Son caves, Mooc Stream and the Dark Cave – Chay river complex in Quang Binh started receiving tourists the same day.
Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of Quang Nam Province, home to the UNESCO heritage site Hoi An, on Friday approved resorts, hotels, motels and homestays to welcome visitors from localities categorized by the government as "low-risk". The province is allowed to organize outdoor tours though the figure cannot exceed 10 people per trip.
Only Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s two largest metropolises, Bac Ninh and Ha Giang in northern Vietnam are still classified "at risk" localities.
Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Binh Dinh, Da Nang, Quang Binh and Quang Nam are all in the central region.

Da Lat, a popular resort town in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, with its year-round cool climate, and where no coronavirus infections have been reported, has again welcomed tourists.
Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have yet to announce when tourism activities would be resumed while Quang Ninh, home to the UNESCO heritage site Ha Long Bay in northern Vietnam, has kept all tourist sites closed since recording seven infections, only two of which discharged.
All popular tourist destinations in the country had been closed since mid-March and bars and most other entertainment facilities shut on the Prime Minister’s social distancing orders.
During the 15-day nationwide social distancing campaign starting April 1, public gatherings of more than two people were not allowed, and citizens were required to venture out only in case of emergency, to buy food and medicine, or work at factories, production facilities and businesses that supply "essential" goods and services. The campaign was then extended for another week in 12 localities, including Hanoi and HCMC.
The government last Thursday allowed localities to relax social distancing restrictions to restore economic and social stability.
Vietnam has seen Q1 foreign arrivals plummet following several entry restrictions and the closure of tourism destinations in response to the pandemic.
The country welcomed nearly 3.7 million foreign tourists in the first quarter, down 18.1 percent year-on-year, General Statistics Office (GSO) data shows.
The number of active Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has been 48 out of 270 infections.
The Covid-19 pandemic has spread to 210 countries and territories, with more than 207,000 deaths reported so far.

Book a Beach hotel in Da Nang to enjoy the best beaches in the world
Most people will advise you to take up residency near the beach when you plan to tour Da Nanag, Vietnam. Rightly so, because Danang possesses some of the top beaches of the world that are filled with pure white sands that are warm round the year making  a contrast with the sparkling blue waters. Most of the hotels here are sand and water themed as you could see mounds of white sands peeking out of their swimming pools. Most people who visit the place book a beach hotel in Danang, because it is the most obvious thing to do and also a logical act to perform.
