If you still write for kit, can I request something where the reader is kits gf and comes out to him as bisexual, and is really nervous about it even tho he’s super accepting (like are you sure you’re okay with it) bc they get scared but he’s super reassuring 🥺
hi love ! yes, i still write for kit ! of course :) thanks for requesting !! sorry for taking so long to answer !
Tumblr media
pairing : kit connor x female!reader summary : you come out as bi to kit word count : 1.2k warnings : none, i think
You'd first felt it when you were younger. You loved the Totally Spies and spent your afternoons watching the show when you'd come home from school. And you especially loved Britney. She was like the perfect mix of Sam, Clover and Alex. Who wouldn't love her ? But you didn’t think anything of it back then.
Then you had the same sort of feeling when you'd first watched Pirates of the Caribbean as a young teenager. Will Turner was gloriously handsome, of course, but you felt the same way about Elizabeth Swan. She was graceful, not to mention beautiful, and could handle her own in battle, she could shoot, kick ass... What couldn't she do ? You didn’t think twice about it then, either.
Same happened when you met a girl at camp. She was nice and beautiful and really funny. You were so happy to be her friend. You didn’t realize what the butterflies in your stomach whenever she touched you meant.
You'd never thought too much about these feelings, figuring everyone felt the same. It's totally normal to wonder what it would be like to kiss your female friends, right ? Everybody did that, didn't they ?
A lot of your friends came out over the years, so you grew more familiar with the LGBTQ+ community, sexualities and gender identities. But you never questioned your own. And why would you ? You were now dating Kit, had been for a few months, actually, so why would you even think about questioning your sexuality ?
And then Kit got cast for Heartstopper. And with him, you dived even deeper into the world of queerness. And more than once, when helping him rehearse his lines, you'd read the script and thought : hey, I feel this way sometimes, too. But still, you didn't think too much about it.
And then, Heartstopper finally came out. All of the cast gathered to binge watch it in one day. You had been invited too, along with the other significant others. Everyone had to bring something, so you and Kit had made a heart-shaped chocolate cake that morning.
You were all snuggled up on the couch and Joe finally pushed play on the first episode. You were leaning in Kit’s side with your legs laying over his lap. He wrapped an arm your shoulders and pressed a kiss to your head when the intro started.
You squealed along with everyone when Joe first appeared on the screen. Everyone screamed and laughed whenever a new character would appear on the screen. You watched episode after episode, glee filling your being and shining with pride as you watched Kit’s amazing performance.
You got quiet when Nick started questioning his sexuality. Your heart sped up when he did the “Are you gay” quiz on the internet. You quickly excused yourself to go to the bathroom.
You tried to take deep breaths as you locked yourself in the bathroom. You’d felt the same things for women that Nick felt for men. Was it possible that you weren’t- straight ?
You locked the door behind you and leaned on the sink. Did you- like girls ? You looked at yourself in the mirror and winced at the look on your face. You didn’t like this. You didn’t like not knowing. A knock at the door startled you.
“Y/N ? You alright, love ?” Kit. You splashed some water onto your face and flushed the toilet, drying your face. “Yeah, just really had to go all of a sudden,” you lied as you unlocked and opened the door. Kit looked down at you and chuckled. “Oh, sorry, my love.” “It’s fine,” you laughed, “no worries, babe.”
You couldn’t get it out of your head for weeks. Did you like girls ? Were you pretending to ? Were you a lesbian ? No, you liked Kit. What were you ? You talked it over with your friends a lot. They all told you the same thing : “With time, you’ll know.” Maybe you would think you were bi for a while and then discover that you didn’t like men at all, or the contrary. It frustrated you to not know. No one else but you could know what your sexuality was. And the answer wouldn’t magically appear on a silver platter, as much as you wished it would.
Kit noticed your change in behaviour. Your temper was shorter than usual and you acted distant from him. After worrying for a few weeks, he finally confronted you. You were in the kitchen, making some instant ramen when he finally talked to you about it.
“Y/N ?” he asked tentatively. “Yeah ?” you hummed absent-mindedly. “Is something going on these days ?” You tensed at his words. He noticed immediately and touched your arm. “I don’t mean to upset you, love, but I just want to let you know that if something’s the matter with you, with us or with me, I’m here and you can talk to me about it you want to.”
You wanted to cry at his kindness and thoughtfulness. “I-“ Your voice caught in your throat. A ball formed in your stomach as you thought of voicing your thoughts and worrying. How would he react? Of course he'd understand, but- What ifs flooded your brain as you spluttered like a fish out of water. He took your hand in his, bringing you back to reality as he kissed your knuckled. "You don't have to talk about it if you're not ready to, you know." "No, I- I want to." You took a deep breath. Kit looked at you, giving you his undivided attention. "I've been feeling like this for a while now, and it only got stronger when we watched your show together because it really put it in front of me. Like I couldn't ignore it any longer, you know?" Kit tilted his head to the side, somewhat confused as to what you were speaking about. "I- I think I'm bisexual." The word felt alien in your mouth. "I think I like both boys, especially you, of course, and girls. I- I'm attracted to both."
Kit smiled at you, squeezing your hand. "Thank you for telling me. I know it's not easy." "No," you chuckled, wiping a stray tear from your eye, you didn't even know why you were crying, "it's not. But you make it easier." "And how do you feel about it?" "I- okay, I guess. It's good to know there are others like me, like us. H-how do you feel about it?”
“I think it just gives me one more thing to love about you,”
“Are you sure you don’t mind?” you asked nervously, worrying your bottom lip. Kit nodded, still smiling. "Not in the slightest. I'm so proud of you. Can I kiss you?" You nodded. "Of course, this doesn't change how I feel about you in the slightest." He hummed and leaned forward, wrapping you up in his arms as he pressed his lips against yours. You closed your eyes, relishing in the feeling and comfort he brought you. He pulled away. "I don't think I'm ready to tell everyone yet, though." "No, of course, you don't have to tell anyone you don't want to. You don't owe anyone anything."

Ok Ok Ok Ok | itzy, yeji.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing "ok ok ok ok" hwang yeji & "la la la la la la la la" gn reader
genre fluff, yeji being the BEST bestfriend everr, carefree reader lmao, yeji enabling your lazy behavior
doei speaks! i want yeji as my bestfriendddd ++ dividers came from im4yeons <3
Tumblr media
"yejiiiiiiiii, this is saur boring!!" you groaned, tossing your copy of Romeo and Juliet on the bed. this is not how you wanted to spend the last week of summer, HELL NO!!
if your annoyingly boring bestie didn't FORCE you into reading, you would've been binging your favorite depressing anime, NANA. but no, instead you're reading Romeo and Juliet.
yeji rolled her eyes at your childish remark, letting out a small sigh. "sometimes you can be real lazy, (yn)."
you grinned. "oh, and you can't be? actually nevermind, you're a fucking robot of course not."
she giggled at you, her eyes squinting in a way that to you, resembled a cat. but ever since you convinced her to let you dye her hair orange, she's looked more fox-like.
yeji put a bookmark in her copy to save her page: 450 out of 480. you didn't need to save your page however, why save page 30?
she turned her head towards you on the bed, and stared at you. whenever she looked at you this way, you seriously felt as if she was a robot. (but lowkey, she might be i meannn 👀)
yeji folded her arms, "if you really don't feel like reading, don't."
the way you tilted your head in confusion let her know she needed to follow up. she held her hand out signaling your to be quiet.
"i'll read it, give you a summary, and then help you write the book report. simple."
... ... ...
"REALLY YEJIIII!! I LOVE YOU SAURRR MUCH YOU'RE AMAZING!!" you shouted happily, throwing your body closer to her, giving her a warm embrace. she was caught off-guard at first, but soon warmed up to it, hugging you back.
"but remember (yn), if there's a quiz on this i'm not bailing you out."
you nodded your head, "of course not! awwh, yeji thank you!!"
she smiled, letting go of you to which you did the same. as she lifted her book up, opening it to page 450, she muttered one final thing.
"anyways, don't you have an anime to be watching?"
and with that you leapt up from the bed, rushing downstairs to her living room.
but while turning on your show, you realized two things.
yeji is the bestest bestfriend you could ask for.
aaannndd she'd probably make you pay her back somehow (but that's a problem for a later date😃!)
Tumblr media
End!ㅤ
thanks for reading! i probably will expand on this whole "ok ok ok"/ "la la la" thing with other idols (in a better way) but i realized i haven't written something in a while and felt bad abt that....
reblog / like it if you enjoyed <3!

Just checking in with everyone here. Day 3, I managed to get around 6 hours of sleep last night in between doomscrolling sessions. Woke up this morning feeling still a bit raw, but definitely much better than before. My interest in the show has also gone down like a lead balloon as soon as I heard the next 2 episodes will be about Brad of all people. All the major storylines set up last season lack development this season and the payoffs feel rushed and anticlimactic. FireFam familial moments are few and far between, and now you're telling me I only have Brad to look forward to? No thanks. Wake me up when there's another plane.
Last time I was this heartbroken due to a piece of fiction was Rose Tyler. I cried myself to sleep for a week, and I couldn't think of that scene without tearing up for at least 2 months. I made myself feel better by keep binging the rest of the show. (It was 2010 so only a bit more than 5 series by then)
I guess I just need some other obsessions to distract myself and fill up the large amount of free time I've suddenly acquired. I've self-imposed a sort of social media/media in general hiatus because I don't want to hear anything about orange man for now.
We've entered fall in my town, so wind directions changed. Final approach to my airport takes place over the sea now, so no more planespotting in person until spring.
Starting a new show would be the next logical step. My other comfort show (Lower Decks) is airing its final season, so that's also sad. S.W.A.T is not usually my cup of tea, but seeing Lou's happy face (and knee high boots), celebrating his birthday with his friends actually makes me feel quite a lot better. So I might give the cop show a try anyway. Going back to watching docudramas/documentries might also be a good idea. Anyone has any recommendation?
I might finally attempt to get sub 5 in the Countries of the World quiz on Sporcle, my best time so far is 5:20, but that's probably not good for my overall stress level now.
I also have this weird Geoguessr-esque but no time limit hobby. I like to look for scenic stock photos and find out where they were taken. That can be relaxing. It's a bit like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know, I'm just looking for new hobbies to tickle my brain. Please feel free to share your ultra niche hobbies with me.

I mostly just binge watched some show and did my movie analysis assignment today. I've been so bored of eating plain foods for the past two weeks while recovering my illness (T_T). I was able to get in a little bit of exercise before I got tired and rested for the day.

Since I've been so sick my plants have become a little neglected so I got to work on making them look better (;一_一). I also finished my argumentative essay I've been slowly working on all week. I really like my professor as she's pretty chill and I've been enjoying her essay prompts, making it easy for me to work on them.

I came into Art School thinking that it’d be a walk in the park. I mean, I’ve been making art my entire life — painting, sculpting, printmaking, and working with wood for as long as I can remember. Not to brag… but, I’ve won so many awards for my work, my parents had to buy an entire storage unit for me, just to have somewhere to store all of my accolades. I’ve even been recognized on a national level for some of my pieces. The things that many of my peers are only now learning how to do in college, I’ve been doing as mere hobbies for most of my life… and, I’d like to think that I’ve mastered them… so, it was only natural for me to come into my first year of university operating under such an ignorant assumption.
When it comes to school, I usually don’t have a hard time being successful. My academic records and transcripts speak for themselves. In all my years of education, I’ve never gotten a grade lower than a B, not even once, and I’ve been a Top Scholar since second grade. I’m good at juggling my responsibilities — making ample time for studying, doing and turning in my homework assignments earlier than I need to, acing every test, and racking up the hours of extracurricular activities — but, this semester, I’m having some trouble focusing in my Art History class… just the one class… and it’s not for any reasons that you may be thinking.
See… I have this professor — Professor Pascal — who teaches my Art History course… and when the year began, he was already about six months pregnant. I’m talking belly popping out underneath his shirt, outie navel as big as a doorknob, chest all puffy and leaky, feet so swollen that he can only wear Crocs and open-toed shoes in class, constantly moody and complaining about his body aches, binge eating in class, and too foggy-headed to maintain a straight line of thought pregnant. Like… pregnant, pregnant. Extremely pregnant. The man is at least forty-five years old… which is concerning on its own… and he’s as big as a house.
To make matters worse, he always wears clothes that he bought before he got knocked up — before he started to gain weight, and his belly began to swell — and they’re so obiously tiny and uncomfortable. Sweaters that are meant to be loose, stretched past their limits and tucked into his pants, to cover his massive stomach. Button-downs that pop open several times during lectures, exposing his hairy, bloated torso to hundreds of students at once. Suit jackets that don’t accommodate for the extra weight that he may have gained. Khakis that hug him so tight that they look like a second layer of skin. Underwear that peeks over the waistband of his bottoms, rides up his butt crack, and shows off a visible outline of his engorged genitals.
He so pregnant that it’s honestly hard to ignore. You know how, usually, when someone’s expecting, you can just acknowledge it and move on… most times, without things being weird or awkward? Well… it’s not like that with Professor Pascal. Not for me, at least. I just can’t stop staring at his belly in class… thinking about it. It takes up so much space in my mind, I think it may be making me… dumb.
No matter what the subject of his lectures are, what assignments he may have us doing for the week, or how many pages of notes that I take, I can’t stop gawking at it… curious. It’s like, I can’t see anything else, or hear anything. The huge whiteboard and padded, sound-reflective walls behind him fade into a plain, flat backdrop… and his words slowly turn to gibberish. I get tunnel vision… stop taking notes, and everything. I can’t retain any information… and then I have to cheat on my homework, my quiz grades drop… then my test scores, and then, my GPA. It’s a slippery slope.
I’ve never, not once in my life, had an overall letter grade lower than a B… but, in Professor Pascal’s Art History course, I’m going through the semester with a C+.
I don’t know what’s wrong with me… or what I can do to improve my grade. He doesn’t offer extra credit, or accept late work. He says that his class is “too easy for anyone to fall that far behind”… and yet, here I am, with a C+.
It’s just… when I’m sitting in that lecture hall — in the very first row of seats — that tunnel vision sets in, and I start to daydream. I… I fantasize about him coming down from his low-rise stage and walking up to me. He picks me, out of a crowd of nearly three hundred people, even though my hand isn’t raised, and presents me with a question regarding the curriculum… something that I’m supposed to know the answer to. Of course, I fumble the response… and, as he’s standing in front of me, waiting impatiently for me to come up with even a single sentence that makes sense, his button-down shirt bursts open, and his beautiful belly spills out, hitting my face like a fuzzy airbag. Next thing you know, I’ve lost control of my tongue, and I’m slurping at his navel as though a life-giving nectar is going to leak out of it… or something like that… in front of everyone — just making a sloppy mess of saliva on my professor’s pregnant belly.
It’s sick… I know. Maybe I’m disturbed, or there’s something wrong with me. Maybe I’m a freak… but I just can’t control it. The fantasy is too good. All I know is that, for the first time in my entire academic career, I’m falling behind… and, the worst part about it is that I can’t pin the blame on Mr.Pascal for being a shitty professor, or make the claim that he’s harboring some deep-seeded hatred for me. My poor grade is all my fault… and I have to live with that.

Day 3 - Prompt: Smile @pandalilymicrofics
February Daily Series - 508 words
<<<Previous Part OR Start Here
Pandora whipped out her mobile to text Regulus that she was on her way, then switched to her last conversation with Sirius. He’d given her his number for Regulus-adjacent emergencies ages ago, but Pandora was too curious about him to leave it at that. Besides, he’d drunk texted her twice in the first month to inform her that she was a twat for keeping Reg in London.
🐼: Tell me about Lily.
🐾: How do you even know about her?
🐼: 3 guesses, the first 2 don’t count.
🐾: You stalked my Instagram again?
🐼: Obviously.
🐾: Apparently everyone does. 🙄
🐾: You’re really coming for winter hols?
🐼: I had enough big brother bonding for a lifetime in the first 3 days.
🐾: Can’t relate. I’m a wonderful big brother.
🐼: I’ll bet he’s sick of you.
🐾: Never!
Pandora’s smile widened. She liked Sirius, for the most part. He was clever, blunt, and completely random, just like her. It surprised her how much they had in common when she first met him, but it shouldn’t have. Regulus was a creature of habit, so it tracked that he would seek out someone like her.
Beyond those similarities, they were polar opposites. As a result, their arbitrary text conversations spiralled into heated debates over extremely niche topics, but she needed to keep this one on track.
🐼: Anywaffles, Lily? I need info.
🐾: Hold on, “anywaffles?”
🐼: You read that correctly. Well done.👍
🐾: Cunt
🐼: Prick
🐾: Great, now that greetings are out of the way, what do you want to know?
🐼: Queer?
🐾: Very
🐼: Single?
🐾: As of yesterday? Yes.
🐼: Anything else I should know?
🐾: Remus says she likes: Taylor Swift, French poetry, fat orange tabbies, and dancing.
🐼: Remus is your beau?
🐾: Don’t start.
🐼: What happened to “single until I die?”
🐾: He quoted Chandler, Pandora. I had no choice.
🐼: Fair.
When Pandora met Sirius for the first time in Heathrow Airport, he blurted, “You’re Phoebe Buffay!” before squeezing the stuffing out of her. Phoebe then became her hyperfixation for the next two weeks as she binge-watched every episode. Apparently, Friends was one of Sirius’s hyperfixations as a child.
She continued to quiz Sirius, and Remus by extension, about Lily. By the time Pandora’s train reached Cardiff, she’d learned that her full name was Lily Jane Evans, she was twenty-five, had a Botany degree, worked in a bookshop owned by Remus’s father, intended to move to London (which had to be a sign), and her favourite food was soup in any form. None of which explained why James specifically mentioned her when Regulus referred to a “group of girls.”
What am I missing? There has to be something else.
It had occurred to her that “Lily” was simply the first name to enter his mind, but she didn’t believe in coincidences. There had to be a reason that this woman was taking up a majority of her thoughts before they’d even met.
She was special, obviously, but why?

🪐 and/or 🏜️ for the writers ask game!
(For this)
🪐 ⇢ name three good things going on in your life right now
Well, the other day, I finally got prescribed some anxiety medication. I’m a little worried about it ruining my chances of actually getting diagnosed with anxiety or becoming too dependent on it, and my anxiety being worse without it (yes, the irony of being anxious about anxiety medication is not lost on me lol), but I know it’s probably for the best, and it‘ll at least help with managing some symptoms for the time being.
I’ve also been lucky and able to spend quite a bit of time with few of my close friends recently. One of them has been working on a fursuit at my place (he stores his stuff in my room since there’s not enough space in his apartment, and my room is basically just storage space for me anyways lol), so I’ve been helping him out with that, and it’s been a lot of fun. He and I have also been doing a ton of LPS stuff which has been a blast too. We cleaned my collection and cataloged it on a collectors website where you can keep track. And the other started working with me again (though it’s only temporary to train the new reception) and I’ve been able to hang out with her too once both our shifts are over. We’ve been editing together clip compilations of the all the fandubs we’ve done over the years among other things (we can talk forever her and I lol).
And for a third thing, I’ve been really enjoying Arcane season 2. God, that show is so good. The writing is excellent. And the animation. Dude, don’t even get me started. It’s stunning. Like I cannot even articulate, it’s just so, whoa. So good, really excited for the next three episodes (and honestly really happy about the staggered release too. Like yes, force people to wait and discuss and theorize instead of dropping it all at once and letting people binge. The wait is honestly part of the fun in my opinion. Helps to build community, keeps us all at the same place and waiting for what’s next together, the hype alive for longer than a week or so, and gives you something to look forward to. All of which are things I feel are very important for all sorts of stories ^^)
🏜️ ⇢ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work?
Honestly, just any comment. I love to hear people’s reactions to things. I love when they point out things I didn’t even realize when I wrote it. It’s so rewarding to just know that people are actually reading and interested.
I will say though, if I’m allowed to include more than just my fics, the tags I got/get on the Brain quiz are incredible. Like hearing everyone’s anguish because of a quiz I made at 4AM a based off of a dream I had is so amusing (and rewarding) to me. Maybe it’s just ‘cause I made it, but like these tags make me laugh so hard

(Seriously though, thank you to everyone who commented on that, I look through it sometimes when I’m feeling down and it almost always helps me feel a bit better)

Hello!
So I just realised about 300+ people decided to follow me and, I suppose, read my stories? And 300 is such a small number but to me it's surreal that so many of you want to read what I write!
So I thought I'd introduce myself a little, just to be polite you know, and be like those author blurbs they put on the inside flap of books. So read on if you want to know more about me and my writing, or just keep scrolling if you'd rather I remain a redheaded mystery with a thing for Frankie Morales.
Also, chapter 16 of The Pilot and his Girl will be posted tomorrow, it just needs another round of editing.
Also, again, this got long, so if you can't be bothered reading all my ramblings below the cut, I totally understand. I have a habit of getting wordy....
So, I'm in my 40's and I've been writing for most of my life, starting with embarrassing little short stories in adorable misspelled fashion when I was just wee. I aspired to be a journalist and then went on a completely different tangent career wise, ending up with a PhD in an area I no longer work in (fifteen years of higher education never to be touched again but you definitely want me on your team in a pub quiz!). I have vague memories of writing fan fiction in my early 20, I think? (I'm old, give me a break). But I only got back to it late last year as a way to kick start my imagination and discipline around writing again. I needed a creative outlet and writing is something I always enjoyed and found easy to do.
I live in England, in the amazing but fucking expensive city of London. I look pretty much like my profile picture, only more wrinkles and maybe a bit of silver in all that gingerness. I'm a very good cook and baker (Pedro, I'll teach you how to cook any day!) and I'm married to my very own sweet Latino man. He's not called Frankie but he does call me cariño. I have big chunk of family in Sweden and I speak a little bit of Swedish (it's actually where I am right now, we're over here celebrating midsummer).
I started writing fanfics for The Boys fandom and Karl Urban as I was binging the whole show after finishing season 4. Then I stumbled into the Pedro Pascal fandom as I watched The Last of Us.
TLoU has a very special place in my heart. I've been gaming since my early teens and bought a Playstation 3 after saving for months, my first console after playing on PC for years. When TLoU came out in 2013 I bought and played it straight away and I, like so many others, had an experience playing it. It's the only story, in any medium, that's made me cry after just 10-15 minutes of game play. The scene were Sarah dies, still gets me every time. And the rest of the game...I turned up at work the next week in a daze, just needing to tell people about this incredible story and experience I'd had. It was like no other game I'd ever played, before or since. And I've replayed the game about once a year since 2013. Back then, that kind of game was totally unique, there was nothing like it. Some games had explored stronger story telling elements, but not on this level, nothing came even close to creating such a bond between gamer and characters. Now days we're spoiled by powerful storytelling in video games, in 2013, The Last of Us was totally unique (sorry, I'm blabbering, but I could go on at length about TLoU and the impact it had).
So when I heard there was talks about turning into a tv-series, I was scared. Really worried. The gaming community have seen so many horrendous adaptations of video games, my beloved Assassin's Creed was butchered in 2016. But then I heard Pedro Pascal had been cast as Joel and I was carefully hopeful, and then Bella Ramsey as Ellie and I got really excited. I'd seen them both in Game of Thrones, both of their performances sticking in my mind. I even remember reading about Pedro being cast in GoT and looking him up and being disappointed because he looked nothing like I'd pictured the Red Viper when I read the books. But then he just swanned in and crushed it, he was so damn good, he won me over straight away. I can't imagine anyone else playing Oberyn.
And then of course, the first few trailers of TLoU dropped and we got glimpses of the show and I remember texting my equally TLoU obsessed friend and we squealed in delight at how good it looked! And the first time I heard the clicker sound....I shuddered, it was a very real physical reaction. If I'd been on the actual set and heard it, I think I would've run a mile.
And then, as I was still writing The British Connection, a fic set in The Boys fandom, I watched Triple Frontier, and, like so many others, fell hard for sweet Frankie Morales. So jumping the gun a bit, I decided to write something with him, just a drabble, to get used to writing him and to write in the Reader insert format. But it kind a grew in scope and when I had the idea of sticking him and the rest of the Triple Frontier boys into TLoU universe I knew I had to create something bigger.
Looking back I would've made the story tighter, less lengthy, had I known from the start that's where it was going to go. But part of the fun of fan fiction is posting as you go, I think. I get feedback from you guys and it makes me think of other elements to add to the story. There isn't always a set road map for how a fic is going to develop.
If you've made it this far, congratulations and thank you, I'm impressed you read all that rambling from some stranger on Tumblr! The Pilot and his Girl has a set plan now, I have chapters drawn up and although I'm not sure how many chapters I'm going to end up with, I know where the story is going. You'll find out what's happened to Pope, Will and Benny. And Joel and Tommy will of course come back to the story later on. There will be more trauma and angst as the story continues but there will be a happy ending, of sorts, in the end.
And again, thank you all for reading, commenting and reblogging! I love you all!

Everything is so fucking shitty lately, I lied through my teeth to my psychiatrist bc I don't want him to blame it on me reducing my SSRI dose & insist I stabilize again. it's bc my friends are all so...completely ambivalent about me I guess? like ok there's my best friend, who I've been long distance with since the we met online ten years ago but who I've never FELT this distant from in all that time. it's been like this for a year, since she moved to Japan, but again it's not like she lived close to me before, she's Canadian. I don't even know who's fault it is but we don't talk like we did before. It's probably her fucking boyfriend giving her the emotional support that I used to give her. She doesn't rly need me anymore. I don't want it to end I really thought we were platonic soulmates and I thought we'd be 80 together still best friends. Maybe that's just me being naive. This is how it goes with friendships for normal women isn't it, they eventually find a partner & then suddenly you're no longer #1 for them. You can't compare
Then there's my second best friend, who IS local & who I've known for 14 years...since we were 14 and starting high school. I've known her as long as I didn't know her. and yet she has let me down more times than I can count & I'm sure I've let her down the same. Every time I try to talk to her about what's going on I just end up feeling like shit bc she tells me I'm triggering her or whatever. Ok. Like she rly said "I'm not the sort of person who can hear this stuff & go on my merry way" I'm sorry I said like four sentences about what happened with the guy w/the gun but how the fuck do you think I feel having to LIVE this shit firsthand??? Pop quiz do I fucking sound like I'm going on my merry way about it or do I sound traumatized???? I feel emotionally distant from her too & don't even know if I want to keep being friends but I'm a coward so I'll probably just let it fade rather than making a clean break.
Then there's my third & final friend, who I've known the longest but who I only recently reconnected with. She's fun to hang out with but that's only when she doesn't flake & leave me on read for a month, which she does so consistently that I'm ready to just stop trying.
It sucks seeing my sister with all these super strong bulletproof friendships, both local & abroad, that she formed in primary school & more in college (years that I entirely wasted being a depressed shut in) & are still going strong. She's always going out for drinks with them or watching movies on FaceTime & I'm here alone in my room binge eating & watching fucking greys anatomy of all things wondering if I will ever have a successful life with a friend group I can count on & knowing deep down that the answer is no.
I feel like I don't even ask for much. Like yes I want to be a famous writer ideally but I think I'd be happy just writing my stuff for a niche audience & having a bunch of fucking friends to do things & go places with. I'm not even looking forward to my Japan trip anymore bc my best friend isnt even excited to see me for the first time in 5 yrs & I probably can't save up enough anyways due to having to pay the mortgage on this fucking house the whole summer which was when I had the most work. Now I'm gonna be lucky to get two days a week & have only Saturday ON shift guaranteed. I couldn't save up anything when I had the chance so now I'm screwed
Oh and my room is a fucking stye again. A real depression den. Kratom powder & empty junk food wrappers & dirty clothes all over the floor & bed. Unreal how I keep letting it get this bad repeatedly

Finished the Peacock & Gamble FUBAR Radio things last week, decided I’ll probably get into other Ian Boldsworth things later, but for now that’s enough of it. Then immediately went back on that as I found the shows he did with Angela Barnes, and have spent the last week listening to those. Which add up, at 8 shows with three hours per episode. Suddenly threw an extra 24 hours on the end of my binge listen, more than I’d really planned. Plus I found an episode with Peacock and Charlie Baker from the middle of the Peacock & Gamble run, when Ed was in the hospital or filming in America or some shit like that.
I think I have now covered the entire run of Ray Peacock on FUBAR Radio from the Peacock & Gamble era, aside from that one episode with Danielle Ward, which may be lost to history, which is unfortunate as it’s up there with what I’d most want to hear. But I got the rest, and got air dates for them, so the completist in me is happy about that. My Peacock & Gamble folder is now up to 225 hours of content, and I’m pleased that I’ve finished listening to everything in it today, just before I go off on my trip. Because I joke about the completist in me, but what I actually mean is “the OCD in me that always has it in the back of my mind, if I’m in the middle of watching/reading/listening to something that I’ve not completed all the way through yet, that will bother me constantly until I finish it”. And I don’t want that bothering me while I’m traveling for the next two weeks.
But that’s all right, I’m caught up on everything. Finished Pierre Novellie’s book, which I enjoyed very much, much more in-depth research than I was expected and I learned some stuff even though I already know quite a bit about autism, I recommend it a lot to anyone who’s interested in learning more, delivered in a funny and interesting way. Taskmaster Australia just finished (though the new NZ one starts soon, I’ll have to catch up on that when I get home). Even The Bugle has just begun its summer hiatus, as if to kindly refrain from adding “stuff to catch up on” into my podcast feed right before I go on a trip. Last Week Tonight came back last weekend with a very strong episode, so I’ll catch up on those when I get home too. And I have my actual news podcasts that I’ve categorically decided I’m putting on hold for two weeks. The world can do what it likes.
And I finished the 8 episodes of Barnes & Peacock, which I’d meant to just dabble in but ended up not being able to stop until I’d run out of them. Three episodes of the regular comedy radio show but with Angela Barnes instead of Ed Gamble, and five episodes of their separate “Do Sex” show, which was meant to be still a funny comedy show but also informative and for serious discussions about many things related to sex, and that was weird, because the main thing I learned from this sort-of educational show is that I’m not mature enough to handle serious in-depth discussions about sex. Actually that’s not true – the main thing I learned from the Barnes & Peacock Do Sex show is that apparently, most of the ideas in The Ray Peacock Podcast were taken directly from Ian Boldsworth’s actual sex life. So that’s good. Glad they found a way to make that podcast even weirder.
Anyway, the Barnes and Peacock stuff was a lot of fun. Put some of the stuff that went on in Peacock & Gamble from the same time in a bit of context, seeing how a different person reacted to the same version of Ray Peacock. I’d say Angela Barnes did at least as well with it as Ed Gamble, which is impressive as she didn’t have the 7 years of history in figuring out how to fit her performance into whatever the hell Ray Peacock was doing.
She really is good, I’d forgotten how much I like her. She used to be one of my favourites on The News Quiz, during the times when the years when I listened to that show every weekend (2009 to 2023, I stopped following it so much when I started listening to The Bugle, which covers a lot of the same ground but without some of the less good guests that the BBC brings in for balance). And she was excellent on Mock the Week, they gave her all those spots for a reason. I know “good on Mock the Week” is not the highest of praise in all circles, something that’s at the front of my mind as I’ve been listening to so much Ian Boldsworth lately. And if Ian Boldsworth wants to call Ed Gamble or anyone else a sellout for Mock the Week (for the record, I have never heard him call Angela Barnes a sellout), he has retained the moral high ground from which to do that, voluntarily or otherwise. But I’ve watched every single episode of Mock the Week (like I said, compulsive completism), and I found Ed Gamble and Angela Barnes both very funny on a lot of them. So I couldn’t call anyone a sellout for that even if I wanted to, which I don’t. I’m aware that it is not always the highest quality of television. I’m aware that it’s a pantomime where people pretend to say things spontaneously that they’ve actually planned out beforehand (but I’ve also been reminded this week of the popularity of professional wrestling, and as long as people are watching that shit, I don’t see why panel shows get singled out as a terrible thing because it turns out this TV show has been written by writers!). It’s still a vehicle where some people were very funny sometimes, particularly Angela Barnes.
Angela Barnes did also have a fantastic special on NextUp last year, Hot Mess, one of my favourite 2023 shows that I’ve had the chance to see. And I won’t get to see her 2024 show in person since she gets to Edinburgh right after I leave, but I’m hoping she’ll film it again somewhere. She also had a great Radio 4 series some years ago, taking back the dead dad show. She’s great. I already knew she was great, I’ve known that for longer than I’ve known about most of these comedians (because I got into a lot of this stuff in 2020, but The News Quiz much earlier), but I’d not thought of her in a while and was pleased to be reminded.
She did a really good job of holding her own with whatever Ray threw at her, moving seamlessly between high and low status, between trying to keep a handle on things and falling apart herself. And Ray was very good at switching places just as quickly, from being the child she has to control to yelling at her for falling apart. A bit like the old Peacock & Gamble ability to seamlessly trade off the straight man role – a dynamic they’d sort of lost by 2024, so it was fun to hear that again.
My Peacock & Gamble folder has sort of blown up into a “all the things Ray Peacock did between 2007 and 2014, which were the Peacock & Gamble years so all of that, but it includes non-Gamble stuff too” folder. Though even that’s not all-inclusive, because it includes a couple of pre-2007 Ray Peacock stand-up clips that I dug up, and a “retrospectives” folder of them both discussing those years post-2014, which, in the interests of honesty, I have subtitled the “celebrity gossip” folder. And I know that after I get back from my trip that’s likely to get broader. I might end up getting into all his post-Peacock & Gamble FUBAR radio stuff. Also I’ve not scratched the surface of his Patreon content. But I still refuse to listen to anyone talk about ghosts.
So that’s what’s going on in my life, in terms of my comedy content journey. I fly to fucking London tomorrow. That doesn’t feel real. I’ve packed some thing. Checked into my flight online. Loaded my phone with a folder of old audio comedy, shows that fit most squarely into my special interests/part of comedy I know the most about, all recordings I've heard before, most of them recordings I've heard multiple times before. Comfort shows. The five albums that David O'Doherty's released, Nish Kumar's 2016 and 2019 stand-up albums, and a selection of Kitson stand-up and radio stuff, mainly from the 00s. Stuff to listen to while traveling that won't activate the "You have to finish listening to this now" part of my brain, because I've heard it plenty before. Stuff that's a fun reminder of why I got so deeply obsessed with the history of 21st-Century Edinburgh Fringe Festival comedy, now that I'm going to go fucking see it.
Oh, have I mentioned that I've added to my schedule? I'm now seeing a Romesh Ranganathan WIP on Sunday evening, the day I arrive (I fly overnight tomorrow). Meaning I've booked comedy for every night that I'm in London - Romesh WIP, Kitson's Collaborator, Brynley Stent's polished 2023 show at the Soho Theatre, Nish Kumar WIP at the Bill Murray because it's not like I'll see Nish Kumar enough other times (I don't actually listen to Pod Save the UK, I have booked into both recordings of it because it's a chance to pay to be in a room with Nish Kumar, in addition to seeing his own show in Edinburgh, in 2022 I drove 8.5 hours to New York City just for a Nish Kumar show and then 2 months later drove 2 hours to Montreal just to see him do the same show I'd already seen, it was totally worth it, you may ask why I don't listen to Pod Save the UK if I want that much Nish Kumar in my life, the answer is I am at max capacity on topical shows and the world is too terrible to add any more), Desiree Burch WIP at ABC. That is a fucking strong lineup. I got very lucky with who's playing while I'm in London. I'm really excited to see Romesh, I've heard some of his recent stuff and it's incredibly funny, to be honest better than I was expecting (not that I'd expected it to be bad, I just hadn't heard his stand-up before and knew he's mostly a TV presenter these days, but it turns out he is very very good at stand-up). I also like the narrative parallel, as Romesh throwing a watermelon on the floor in s01e01 of Taskmaster was the moment, when I first saw it 4.5-ish years ago, that really really hooked me on this stuff. Honestly I was just watching that first Taskmaster episode out of curiosity and I hadn't really "got" it up until that moment, not sure how much longer I would have given it if Romesh Ranganathan hadn't made me absolutely die laughing by going feral on a watermelon. How different my life might be now, if Romesh Ranganathan had not done the funniest thing that's ever been committed to television, which made me 100% sure that I need to watch every episode of that show and also every other thing every person remotely involved in it has ever done. I like that he'll be the first comedian I see when I travel to the UK.
And obviously I've changed around my Edinburgh schedule, since I last posted it and said that was the final one. Added Lou Wall on Monday night, because I'd dropped Greg Larsen (only because I learned I'd get a chance post-Edinburgh to hear his 2024 show, no one should drop Greg Larsen otherwise) and I had to do something to keep up the way I'm using my Edinburgh schedule to prove that there are no straight Australian comedians (Lou Wall, Laura Davis, Tom Ballard, Zoe Coombs Marr, Dan Rath - my schedule is surprisingly heavy on Australians). I moved several things around to be able to see Jin Hao Li, because I got to hear a bit of his stuff this week, immediately fell in love with him and decided I was willing to sacrifice other things (specifically, I sacrificed Susie McCabe for this, hopefully she'll film her show like she did last year so I can still see it), if I can pay to hear him say stuff in a room.
I dropped Kiri Pritchard-McLean, which I found difficult because I've read about her show this year and it looks very interesting, about the foster and social care system (in addition to the fact that I've seen three previous Kiri Pritchard-McLean stand-up hours and they've all been excellent). I know there are confidentiality issues with that show, but presumably she's solved them now since I've read interviews in which she talked about it openly, so hopefully she'll still end up filming it in some form, at some point. I really wanted to see it. But the only time I could see it was a time when it would run into Sophie Duker's show, I'd had it set up so I could try to see both, but realized I won't enjoy either if I'm worried about having no time in between. And I really, really want to see Sophie Duker. So I replaced Kiri with Kanan Gill, a comedian from India who got four stars off Chortle for this show at MICF this year, which doesn't necessarily mean anything (Acaster's Heckler's Welcome got four stars off Chortle last year, which is a 5-star show if I have ever seen one, but Jazz Emu's You Shouldn't Have also got four stars off Chortle, which was... I mean I don't want to be too much of a dick about this and I guess some people like that stuff but my God did I ever find that show annoying), but the actual content of the review made me think that show sounded very interesting. So I'll see how that goes. And he can't run into Sophie Duker's show because he's in the same room as her, right before (not just the same venue, the same room, I checked). And then I realized I could slot Stevie Martin right into another gap, and I like the little bits I've seen her do on other things, and I heard her show is one of those interesting ones of the sort that I should see at a fringe festival, so I'll try it.
I think my Fringe schedule, as it stands now, is more focused on taking chances on smaller names/comedians I don't know quite as much about, as it was in the original version. Which is good, for a fringe festival. Particularly in terms of seeing comedians who do offbeat things that don't really work if you're not live in the room with them (Mat Ewins) - it's good to take the opportunity to see that when I'm over there, and I can hear the more straightforward comedy from home. Hopefully that works out. Hopefully I didn't overbook.

Looking at this is odd, right after finishing Pierre Novellie's book, which contained a chapter on autism burnout that I related to very hard. You know, that thing where you try to do too many things at once, particularly things with a lot of people around and a lot of sensory input, with not enough downtime in between, and then you crash physically and psychologically as a result. I listened to that chapter that described something that's happened to me a lot in my life, and I listened to it while booking this schedule.
I do, cautiously optimistically, think it might be all right. It helps that even though I'll be around a lot of people, I won't be expected to do much actual interacting with people. I'll be in control of what I do, I don't have to follow a group's plan. And, obviously, it helps that it's something I really really really want to do. Autism burnout countered by special interests? I mean, that isn't actually how it works, really, but I like to think it could be.
I do feel like one of those kids in a newspaper article about autism. Like the stereotype that all autistic people are 8-year-old white boys who are obsessed with trains, and then you read an article in a tiny local paper about an 8-year-old white boy who's autistically obsessed with trains, and he got to meet a train conductor and go to a train museum and lost his mind with excitement, and it's sweet and heartwarming in addition to having vaguely weird inspirational stereotype energy. I feel like I've read a lot of articles like that, and I am excited to be a protagonist in one. In terms of autism stereotypes, with this vacation I have booked, I am 8-year-old white boy, and these are my trains.

Good morning to Kinn contemplating his previous night's drunken actions in the bathroom mirror and only to Kinn contemplating his previous night's drunken actions in the bathroom mirror.
Tumblr media
Vegas has such a radar for "guys my cousin wants to fuck." I'm guessing the choking-out in the conference room was a clue.
Tumblr media
Pol interrupting Kinn almost clueing Porsche in to their kiss the night before. I can't really imagine that conversation would have gone great, anyway.
Tumblr media
It's okay, Kinn. This faked me out the first time, too.
Tumblr media
Everyone being like "get ahold of the nerd" when Arm busts out with a Chinese proverb. Is Arm the best and why is the answer yes?
Tumblr media
The KLAXONS in the soundtrack, as if the black satin shirt and smarm wasn't warning enough.
Tumblr media
I promise to move past this scene eventually, but someone on here posted a poll at some point about Kinn's most badass moment, and now I can't watch this scene without thinking "put a cheese slice on hot noodles in a very charged environment." Okay, I looked it up, it was @boysbeloving, so thank you for that.
Tumblr media
Big's "But I'M gay!" face. I love him.
Tumblr media
*Whispers* I like Chay, I like Kim, I like Kim's collection of leather jackets, but I fast-forward through most of the Wik fan quiz. It just goes on a bit too long.
Tumblr media
The ~tension~ of it, the ~Apo in an undershirt~ of it.
Tumblr media
Oh look, it's everyone's favorite side character, Kim's Ultimately Pointless Conspiracy Board.
Tumblr media
Never change, you two.
Tumblr media
One of my favorite Tay moments: Checking out Porsche and calling him an oppa.
Tumblr media
Look. Tay in this outfit. I mean.

Lord, these two really mastered the art of the onscreen kiss, huh? Also, Porsche looks so blissed out throughout this scene, it really heightens how the angst in Ep. 5 is gonna hit. At the same time, it's much less stressful to rewatch knowing that they're going to handle the dubious consent of it all with a multiple-episode arc rather than brushing it under the rug; I'm glad I basically binged this and didn't have to wait a week to see if they'd deal with it well.
