The MOMENT I saw this prompt I was like "Oh no, I can hear the blorbos already" and then it got BETTER

So now I'm imagining some poor low-level goon in an interrogation room, getting told that he's about to get the Good Cop/Comrade Cop routine and he's shaking in his boots when Solo and Illya walk in and of course this guy assumes the Big Scary Blond Guy with the permanent glare is Comrade Cop and he's gonna get the shit beat out of him. Then Illya starts talking all smooth, offering water, lighter sentencing, etc. And the goon is thinking "He's the Russian, he has to be Comrade Cop, this isn't so bad."

Then Solo opens his fucking mouth, does the whole "Don't say a thing without your lawyer" bit, even down to "incapacitating" Illya and telling the guy to run.

It's all a rouse. They planted a tracker on him. Now all they have to do is follow the poor sod to whatever Evil Lair™️ they're hunting. Boom, Teamwork.

Both Gaby and Waverly are more than sick of this shit, but it gets results and even Illya seems to find the routine at least a little funny so they let them have their "fun."

Hello! I originally wrote this as a comment, and then the hypers fixated and it ended up being so comedically long that it didn’t come close to fitting tumblr’s comment character limit XD. So I’m sending it as an ask instead!

Also!! Spoilers for A Realm Reborn, the Stormblood patches, the Werlyt questline, and extremely vague spoilers for a region in Endwalker! Massive Writing Ramble (™️) ahead. You have been warned. >:D

Regarding your Wyvern AU: AGAHDBDJEDHWKDHWJFB?!???!!?!?!?

As both a whump-hurt/comfort enjoyer and a Maxima fan (I LOVE HIM. I LOVE HIM. I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS ABOUT MAXIMA AS A CHARACTER OKAY) this au is incomprehensible shrieking noises.

I’m so interested in Ren and Gaius. From a storytelling perspective, I honestly really like Gaius, (liking a character and agreeing with their actions are two Very Different Things!!!!!!!) and I think his arc in the STB patches is SO good. He’s such an interesting character!! Our first intro to him is in ARR, as the pretty generic villain of the pretty generic Bad Empire™️ who wants to invade Eorzea (there are a host of reasons for that genericity, and the game absolutely adds complexity to Garlemald and Gaius later, but in ARR at least, they’re both pretty flat). He gives an iconic yet also very generic elevator pitch (literally), and then we don’t hear from him until STB. In that time, we hear much about him — namely that he treats his soldiers fairly, that he does genuinely seem to believe this is the best course of action for Eorzea, that he’s a guy with a lot of privilege and a lot of power and some Extremely misguided yet well-intentioned beliefs. He shut down Black Rose! He doesn’t want to destroy every Eorzean after he subjugates them! Big Yikes, but that in itself provides the opportunity for some REALLY interesting character growth. And we see that in the STB patches and Werlyt! That he’s dedicated his life to trying to atone. That he fucked up big-time, and he wants to try and put some good back in the world. That he survived Prae for a reason, and he’s going to hunt down Ascians so no others can follow the path he followed. Now, throwing Ren into the mix? Ren, who may have lost his memories and been badly tortured, but whose entire purpose before getting yeeted to Hydaelyn was destroying the concept of authority and fighting against oppression? Whose literal heart and soul are a conceptualization of rebellion?? Throwing THAT Ren, even without most of his memories, into Gaius’s path????? Knowing where Gaius eventually ends up (regarding both his goals for Prae and his later arc in the Burn) and that his current path is formed from some Very Very poor choices with at least not evil intentions??? ohohohohoho. OHOHOHOHO. Cackles in storyteller. That is FASCINATING. That’s SUCH an intriguing dynamic. Does something in Ren realize what it is he and Gaius are doing? Does something in Gaius? How do they interact? How do they read each others’ actions? How do they affect each other??? What could go differently if someone (Ren) were to step in before Gaius led the charge on Eorzea?????

SCREECHES. AWGRJWGDJG IT’S SO SO INTERESTING AND I LOVE THIS SO MUCH AND AGAGAGFJFEHFJGK coughs. haha

ANYWAYS. This AU is so damn good. I think that the intersection of Ren and Maxima as characters in this context is so interesting, and I love Ren having at least one little bright light in the form of that relationship in the midst of a Very Bad experience. I love that dynamic between him and Zenos?? It’s hilarious and so in character for both of them. And also like… man. The IMPLICATIONS!!!! Ren and Hydaelyn!!!! Ren and the Scions!!!! How would they feel about each other?? The dramatic irony too is SO *chef’s kiss.* We as the audience presumably are familiar with either or both FFXIV and P5, and also, considering we’re reading the post on your tumblr, with Stars in the Dark. So we know what could have happened, and seeing the characters and the differences in their relationships and the differences in particular with how Ren interacts with them is ough agh big feelings /pos. And even an eventual healing arc (if that’s in the cards for him) in this AU would be so. agh /pos. whump-hurt/comfort beloved fr fr

Obligatory disclaimer that all of the questions here are rhetorical and meant not as actual questions/demands directed at you, but more as conceptualizations of the different ways one could explore this dynamic and these changes!!

Maxima! Yeah Maxima's a great guy. Good to see some Maxima love. :) I love the idea of him being utterly horrified by what they're doing to this poor kid, but he hasn't had a chance to defect yet or anything so he's just... trying to sneakily make Amnesiac!Ren's life as comfortable as he can by dropping by the lab and doing nice things when no-one's looking. And Ren would be pretty fucking feral by this point, so I just imagine it'd be a bit like trying to look after an abused wild animal. "Okay, I'll just sneak him some nice food-- aaaaand he just tried to bite off my fingers. Swell!" At least Ren would come to appreciate it more once the experiments stop and he gets his head on a bit straighter and acts more human haha. :P

And Gaius! Yes, he's an extremely complicated and fascinating character, once the game finally gives him a chance to step outside his initial role. I agree, there is a lot of intriguing potential for the concept of him and Ren working as... psuedo-allies, kind of. Or at least forced on the same side, from the start. As I mentioned in a reply to a comment-- Wyvern would actually have 0 loyalty to the empire, since he'd just think of them as the fucks that tortured him. But he doesn't know what else to do (no memories at all! where's he gonna go??) and also he's obsessed with Zenos and being what Zenos wants and staying beside him in general, soooo... Imperialism it is, I guess??? (Not that Zenos is actually loyal to the empire either lol) But it would be very interesting if Wyvern prompts Gaius to start doubting everything he thought he knew... >:3 Add Zenos into the mix and we have the potential for... something, I dunno! But it's certainly exciting and probably very chaotic!

I wish I had more I could say about all that and the Wyvern AU in general, especially since you're so intrigued by it, but it's very half-baked at the moment since it was just an "OOH WHAT IF..." thought that got a bit out of hand lol. I still have, y'know... (gestures to the monolithic mountain of canon content) ALL OF THAT to get through first in the regular ol' timeline haha! But I really appreciate hearing your thoughts, since it does give me some very interesting ideas if I ever do plan on writing anything about it... >:3

EDIT: Oh! But I can say that Wyvern would probably make an initial impression among the Eorzeans (and the Scions) as being the Empire's scary new human weapon. THEIR ULTIMA WEAPON, IF YOU WILL. HAW HAW. (it even eats Primals!)

My prediction for Zootopia 2

So as I’ve mentioned in a previous post, there’s an interesting Wildehopps dynamic where Judy is more case-focused while Nick prioritizes safety, which I can maybe see being used for conflict in the next movie. (Cuz if there’s going to be conflict, it needs to be done right for development and not just for the sake of having characters argue…please take notes, Disney)

I imagine the movie starting out with the two of them working flawlessly. They know just how to take down criminals together without exchanging a word. Then one day they’re given a simple interrogation case that quickly escalates and long story short Judy ends up getting hurt. Nick rushes to help her, and she urges him to go after the criminal. He hesitates, but he doesn’t relent and ends up taking her to a first aid kit, frantically bandages her wound, then pursues the criminal along with backup. But by then it’s too late, the culprit is nowhere to be found. At first Judy’s a little frustrated, but she can’t be too mad at him for saving her. Chief Bogo, however, will be furious, and while he is sympathetic about the specific situation they were in, there’s still a dangerous mastermind on the loose. (And then there’s some kind of lecture about balancing work and safety of your partner, etc etc)

Throughout the movie there’s a sort of back-and-forth between “which is more important”, as well as some budding romance because yes. And then at some point the two are forcibly separated by The Bad Guys™️ and are forced to find a way back to each other. However these mammals have done their research. They didn’t just choose two random cops to kidnap for fun. They know who Judy and Nick are and plan to use their dependency on each other against them. For the sake of evil plot and angst the Bad People demand that Judy tell them some Important Information about whatever and when she refuses, they pull the old “if you don’t give us what we want you can say goodbye to your partner”. Naturally Judy’s intimidated by the threat, but she knows they’re just saying it to get in her head. Never let them see that they get to you, after all.

It isn’t until The Big Fight when she finds out they were not bluffing, as when she refuses again one of them ends up attacking Nick right in front of her. She frantically rushes to his side, trying not to panic as she hears the cruel words of their captors; “We warned you. It’s sad, isn’t it? Having to choose between our missions and the ones we love most? We fail either way. That’s why you’re better off working alone”

Then some kind of trap is activated in the room, with limited time until it sets off, and the Bad Bitches escape leaving the two to die tragically. Judy tries to push Nick up, but his injuries are more fatal than they appeared. He can’t move, he knows this. He urges Judy to leave while she can, to stop the criminals and return home safely. And it’s at this point Judy finally understands his point of view. If the roles were reversed he would be carrying her to safety, regardless of the matter at hand. She can’t leave him. She won’t leave him. So she helplessly begins dragging him with all her strength, forcing back tears as there’s a tiny voice in the back of her mind telling her it’s pointless and that they’ll never make it out alive together. (Insert some kind of dramatic “I can’t leave you! I love you!” scene here or something)

Somehow they’d make it out obviously, and they’d have some kind of heart-to-heart moment while he’s getting treated for his injuries. Ultimately they decide that no matter what happens from that point that they’ll put their fears aside and work together to take down the Big Bad, because that’s what they’ve always done.

Here's the big thing, I think, with Prowl in IDW1...

When mindfully written/read, he should be to that continuity what Inspector Javert is to the novel, Les Misérables.

You see, Javert in the book isn't really the same character he is in the musical or film adaptations because, ultimately, those stories are depicting the conflict as Valjean vs Javert. That's not the story Victor Hugo was telling. In the novel, Javert is a "bad guy" in the way that All Cops Are Bastards. Javert himself is actually a pretty upstanding cop. He holds to the law, doesn't accept bribes, and he even has a sense of humor (at one point, he offers the Thenardier gang his hat to draw names from when they spent too much time arguing about who got to escape first)! However, because the justice system was broken and flawed, Javert himself could not be a "good person". In upholding such a system, he was unjust. (Literally, having his worldview and belief in the System™️ shattered is why he threw himself into the river.) He is a symptom.

In IDW1, there was no such thing as a righteous leader. Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, and, of course, Prowl all have blood and filth on their hands. Prowl could not be a "good" leader because of the nature of their war. The main difference between the Autobot and Decepticon leaders is that one particular Autobot shouldered the responsibility of "the dirty work". Other Autobots can claim "it's not the Autobot way" because Prowl believed in doing whatever was necessary for their cause in the dark to protect the ideological purity of their cause. And this war continued for 4 million years. All the while, Prowl became more isolated and more fervent in upholding the Autobot cause. Prowl is not a "bad guy", he is a symptom of the true evil: war.

Noooop because I have a strangely specific view of what Tarn would be like in Earthspark from the pov of like. Thinking about this realistically as hell.

To me, I feel like he's top tier looming in the background (for now) Big Bad Evil Guy™️ of the season energy. I feel like the music motif would be increased?? I have so many ideas for scenes in my head that are all indescribable in words because of course they are of course they are.

Give this motherfucker more mob boss energy, like he had in the Grindcore scenes. Sure the stuff regarding earthspark Tarn wouldn't be as outright dark as it is in the comics, but I think they can quite fairly display how he operates. I know people have opinions about Cyberverse Tarn, but I really liked how Tarn kept throwing Perfect Decepticons at the main cast to wear them down bit by bit in order to get them to bend to his will, like Cyberverse Tarn was all too willing to replicate the gladiatorial pits just for his own sake.

I really do feel like an earthspark Tarn would be down to use former GHOST agents or otherwise humans as pawns, and this would have. So many consequences. I also feel like he'd use the promise of "getting rid of" the cybertronian presence on Earth as a motivator for them, as well as good old fashion threatening??

MORNING STAR TIER LIST + THOUGHTS

I finished the whole bloodydamn series! Yippee! Surprised how relatively fast I sped through Golden Son & Morning Star, I never read books that quickly. As per usual, I will word vomit my thoughts at random below the cut (where obvious spoilers are abound), but I really enjoyed it! My ranking of the original trilogy is 1->3->2.

Characters: 10/10, nobody major felt weak in here, unlike the previous books where I would point out a specific character as "I pray to god this is just set up and not all they're going to do for the rest of the series." The only ones I found lacking were Ash Lord, Romulus & Harmony, but it's painfully obvious they still have future stories to explore.

Personal Enjoyment: 8/10, didn't feel as exciting as Golden Son, but don't discount it just because of that. If I read a fucking book until 2AM and it ISN'T a school required reading, then I enjoyed it.

Plot: 10/10, a great sendoff to the original trilogy while leaving things still unfinished for the rest of the series.

Overall Rating: 9/10, damn good book. Pierce Brown's writing is damn good (but that was obvious).

I think I'll start with the start. We come back from Darrow suffering™️ and see him all feral in chains, and that was uhhhhhh

After Darrow serves cunt in jail, we see Jackal and god damn is he AMAZING in this book. So worth the anticipation for him to actually do shit because every time he shows up, I'm having fun. He's just such this evil, sociopathic bitch and I love him. He's also a bit pathetic, which instantly shoots him high on the tier list for that alone. I love genuinely terrifying villains who are having fun in their roles, but are also just bitch ass hoes at the end of the day. He gets shit done, and he's so fucking scary, the ending with the nukes???? HELL YEAH THATS WHAT I WANTED FROM THIS GUY!!!

Onto another villain I perceived as disappointing throughout the series, Antonia! She redeemed herself in my eyes. She just needed a few scenes to be a piece of shit, and she did it and all of them were great. Thistle's death made me say out loud, "FINALLY!" Then her escape from prison? Wow, okayyyy slay.

Cassius was there in prison too, and damn he's phenomenal in this book. This man is so complex and so torn apart, I had such high excitement every time Cassius showed up because I had no clue what could potentially happen. I forgotten how much I loved Cassius's and Darrow's dynamic from book 1. His ending was SUCH a big twist, I had no clue what to expect as things went along. I am so glad he got his shit sort of together and realized "Hey! Bigotry bad!" I did find it hilarious how they call each other brothers but Victra's over here in the corner shipping them and I think that's iconic but also

Victra unfortunately hasn't won me over yet, but I think she's cool. Her and Sevro randomly getting married was iconic.

OH AND SEVRO this little man is just going through everything. My man remembered the series he was in and started to have some sad moments, which was great to see. I love this scamp, but on account of everything that happened to him, he definitely feels a lot less fun to see, but him randomly shitting his pants is great. I was surprised by how in depth we got with him and how he acts being forced to take a leadership position: he sucks at it. Without any proper transitions, Roque! I thought he was a nifty voice for Darrow, but once he started being evil I found him pretty cool. He's sort of like the anti-Cassius in some sense where Darrow fucked up in maintaining this friendship and so you feel bad for him :( Still, the parade shit was uncalled for, and I got spoiled he commits self unalive, but that sounds oddly poetic of him to go out like that. His ending satisfied me :)

Mustang put me on edge the whole way through. I sort of expected Darrow and Mustang to sort things out and kiss at the end, but that was a bit of a rollercoaster to get here 😭 She is awesome, and I think she is at her best in this book. Her dynamics with everybody is awesome, I love her. I do fear book 4 since she became the new dictator and this is still a series and more books after this soooooo MUSTANG BETTER NOT ACCIDENTALLY FUCK SHIT UP FOR EVERYONE ELSE 😃 she already said "bloodydamn" in this book, so if she betrays darrow in book 4 (where all shit starts to go down apparently) then i will feel horribly sad

Best for last is Darrow. I love this man, he is such a compelling character. This is the best we see of him since it feels like he is running at full capacity, on account that he no longer has to act like a bitch ass gold and fully embraces being Red, the aspect that I wanted to see out of him in the first place. He can finally say "bloodydamn!" Yay! :D The whole series feels like it was building up towards building Darrow into this incarnation of himself, and I couldn't be happier. The rebellion is at full swing, so that means Reaper has got to be at full swing too.

Now that we're fully engrossed within the rebellion now, I am so thankful we got some non-golds on the team. Orion, Ragnar, and Holiday come to mind. Orion is just chill, I love her, and especially her disposition compared to other blues (BUT SHE NEVER GOT HER FUCKING PARROT). Ragnar is awesomely badass, and I will miss flipping the page and seeing lines of text in bold and thinking to myself "oh my god ragnar is here." Holiday shows up, and she's cool, I guess. I'm assuming she's only being set up here or something, BUT I find it so funny that HER of all characters gets the first f-bomb in the series. It's so random, but I guess it was to set the tone as "this book is more serious than the past ones, be prepared 😉." Eitherway, that's iconic behavior.

Characters I wanted to talk about are done. In the book we are finally in the full war of the rising, things definitely ramped up quite a bit from the harry potter hunger games of book 1. The sci-fi shit is in full display, and it's super cool. I do have a preference for the hand to hand combat scenes over the ship combat scenes. I had difficulty tracking what was happening sometimes in the ship battles due to the terminology. It still felt super frantic and adrenaline pumping, fun stuff. Walking around with lowcolors and interacting with them casually was what I wanted, I was afraid the book would focus extremely heavily on golds based on books 1 & 2. The scenes with Darrow and his family as such sweet comforts, I could do with some more fluff considering the suffering I am scared for in Iron Gold and especially Dark Age.

Overall, the book was excellent! I loved it, and I am fully endeared to the series.

Now here comes the big leap: Moving onto Iron Gold. I have been warned that Iron Gold onwards is unrelentingly angsty, everything I was so averted away from in Book 1, only people say it's somehow worse. So because of that... I am most likely going to take a break from reading everything else until I feel myself emotionally prepared. If book 1 drained me despite being the weakest in the series, I am terrified for what the future holds. When my college relents and I finish Six of Crows, then I will see Iron Gold. The rebellion still isn't over. Break the chains!

Sooo yeah! Had fun with it all! I'm glad I got back into reading thanks to this series. It's surprisingly easy to pick up once you get appropriate content warnings, and after book 1, you really sink your teeth into it and can't stop reading. Anyways, below are a few shitpost thoughts I had on the book:

• Darrow really has a damn grip on Pax, first he named a ship after him, and then their son? That's iconic, Pax's legacy of cuntiness deserves to live on 💅✨️

• I was also surprised that Virginia was the one to give birth and not Darrow.

• Mickey Mouse didn't show up :(

• Cassius's, Sevro's and Darrow's periods probably synced

• The howlers touched tips together at least once

• All of the Xenoblade Chronicles casts would fit right into this world and vice versa

Dramatic irony to an insane degree - the idea that Amy's been pining after Sonic for so many years but ultimately ends up with his evil robot duplicate is hilarious and has a lot of starcrossed lovers potential when combined with the fact that he's on Eggman's side but it's still legitimately possible that Amy's "destined encounter" with Sonic that she predicted in Sonic CD was actually about Metal Sonic instead... Can you imagine Amy's reaction if she figured that out??? Her reaction if she found out Metal Sonic had a soft spot for her? Please it'd be sooo funny

Metal Sonic simply deserves it <3 - this robot is SO SO SAD YOU GUYS, I feel like besides other dedicated Metal Sonic fans the whole fandom misses this. He's an inherently tragic character, a walking identity crisis, no free will outside of what Eggman says he can and can't do... This isn't even getting into the Metal Sonic is Sonic Robotocised Theory!!! Most of the time he's just fighting the main cast, but there's only one time (in the main series + idw) where he's shown kindness and empathy and actually accepts it... and that's from Amy Rose in the Sonic Mania christmas short

Amy Rose is the best character to reach out to him - Amy literally has a history of reaching out and showing kindness to both Eggman robots (most notably Gamma in SA1) AND to edgy hedgehogs (Shadow in SA2, which is of course what kickstarted Shadamy as a ship but I always saw that scene as being more about her reminding him of Maria than anything, personally...). But Amy has always been someone who, while she can, will and HAS fought against robots and bad guys without holding back, she's also usually the first to hold her hand out in friendship and empathy towards the villains. If ANYONE could reach out to Metal Sonic and actually get through to him, Amy's the one with enough love and stubborness in her heart to do it!!

Sonic CD was released on bisexual visibility day - they're also the bi colours themselves <3 the bi4bi ship ever. Also Metal Sonic has plenty of trans coding to draw from too!!! They're queer as hell!

Nightfall: Human girl thinks elves names are weird, man drugs a group of children and takes them to a second location (his ex best friends apartment), the ex best friend fosters the human girl along with his “not legally” ex-wife, main character goes into zombie mode because her human parents are being tortured, strange lady takes children on a field trip with a man who’s just a blurry blob and not any character we knows older brother, 🎶young man, fight the ogre king, i say young man, rip that jewel, off, his, ear🎶 a princess becomes a body gaurd and immediately booby traps her charges bed, he’s supposed to be on bed rest because he got almost gutted by the Ogre king aka her dad, surprise girl can control 🔥FIRE🔥, secret message decoding, and technically not cousin kissing,they find the evil big brother™️ and he gets slammed into the walls by his sister, there’s a secret torture chamber under the under water city, parents are stuck inside fake 🔥fire🔥, they get the parents out, dad mid controls a psychopath AND a genetically modified murder creature that shouldn’t even exist (kinda like the main character but with less murder), girl decides to take on a murderer, without emotions, who’s been in jail for a millennia on her own and gets TOSSED THROUGH A MIRROR (A+ for effort baby girl), she’s completely shredded and to this day i don’t understand how they even found her body or how she found the evil lady, the human parents gets their minds wiped AGAIN (you will cry at what the mother says), evil big brother completely forgot who he is THE END

Flashback: Evil big brother who had his mind completely wiped is living at home again, because the council and his parents don’t think he’s evil anymore because he forgot all his memories, the younger siblings are NOT happy™️, the younger brother AKA the Burnette hot guy is EXTRA not happy™️, he works out in the desert doing hand stand push up that the main character definitely doesn’t find hot, OH NO! the bad guys attack with shadow powers!!!, the two guys the series keeps forgetting about save the day with a 🌈rainbow sword🌈 (and Explosives!!!🔥local children almost die for the eleventeth time, their in comas, their poor parents, girl wakes up, her arm is goopy and there’s a monster in her brain that is not a metaphor for PTSD, the boy is still in a coma, 🩷😊✨happy shadow thoughts✨😊🩷, girl says she misses the boy and he wakes up through the power of 💕love💕 (probably), they’re hospitalized for two months aka half the book, the blonde hot boy walks in on the Burnett hot guy had feeding the main character candy, he leaves like a sad puppy in the rain, they get out of the hospital, but the Burnett guy is still on crutches, ❤️boy x chandelier the love story for the ages❤️, main character gets not 1 not 2 but 4 new body guards, one is married to the princess, they hate each other, self-defense training and bodyguards shenanigans, the ballad of Bo and Ro is written, local horse girl almost gets kissed by a guy who’s basically royalty, the horse girls horse goes into labor and the horse girl teleports to her rescue, the bald girl from book one helps save the horse’s life with her mom and dad, a troll takes advantage of the fact that the baby horses need to be incubated and gets the horse girl make an alliance with the entire horse species without any other adult input, they take the babies to some hidden tower and create an illusion that will definitely protect them, surprise Evil brother is still evil, he release secret gmo murder troll newborns who wreck havoc, EVIL LADY GETS CRUSHED BY D O O R, little brother almost kills his brother not once but twice, one of those times he trapped him in a baby troll capsule, when it started to fill with goop. he. stopped. pressing. buttons. evil brother escapes definitely won’t be relevant later, evil mom lady threatens to kill the baby horses if he doesn’t get to steal a child, he agrees to be stolen, she knocks him out anyway, the baby horses are born and they are ok, then the horse girl goes to get her eugenics lists because that’s what you do when your friend is kidnapped.

I can't find that post I made forever ago about the escalation from ep 60 to ep 160 of one piece bc ??? tumblr eated it but I must say I do applaud them sidestepping the usual fate of like "made this season's Big Bad too big too early and now they're fucked with how to escalate the situation", like supernatural had that problem BAD. But all in all they haven't really had to like, one up the enemy from having the raw power of god bc 1. Chaos and 2. just finding creative other obstacles each new Big Bad throws luffys way specifically, besides trying to literally just say "well all of these guys are much stronger than god"

Original Manga written by Katzuki Takahashi:

Atem (Yami Yugi) killed (including setting a guy into fire) and he used the powers of the Millennium Puzzle to traumatized 'till madness several people. Even if they were act of punishments towards malevolent individuals, said acts were often excessive in relation to the context. Atem at the beginning was mostly a sociopath, and that's problably because he spent 3000 years alone in the puzzle;

The "ShadowRealm" doesn't exist. People who lost a ShadowGame or died or went to coma, like Jonouchi or Mai (even if is mostly dying than going to coma);

Jonouchi, before meeting Yugi, was a literal gangster who frequently, alongside Honda, hanged out with gangs of bullies, that not only bullied people like Yugi, but were even famous for their strealing. This was do to the fact that Jonouchi's mother kinda abandoned him while his father was a poor alchoholic man.

Seto Kaiba is a genius CEO of a mega corporation and a highly traumatized teenager with PTSD. His step-father Gozaburo used games to teach him life lessons like the "To lose is to die" thing and "motivated" him with corporal punishments, like the (possibly shock) collar Seto was forced to wear. Because of the abuses, he is now emotionally stunted and has enourmous trust issues. His bad behavior is here because he's very fucked in the head and that's why he's not a villain. Kaiba is the most realistic and tragic depiction of a teenager whit deep emotional traumas who grow up without parental figures;

Ryou Bakura is a sweet angel who is also clearly mentally unstable because of childhood traumas and he is constantly amnesiac as a coping mechanism of the fact that he's possessed by an evil ancient egyptian spirit;

The HeartOfTheCards doesn't exists. Duelists use mostly strategy or simply have luck. Just few of them have a real connection with some cards, like Yugi, Atem, Kaiba or Jonouchi;

Marik Ishtar isn't evil. He developed that dark side of his after being tortured, emotionally and phisically, by his father, who didn't saw him as his own person, but just as a "tool" to protect the Pharaoh's tomb and legacy. The Ishtar family gave up their freedom for 3000 years for their mission, and so Yami Marik wanted to kill Atem after making him suffer in the worst ways possibile to take revenge on him. In his dark days, Marik killed several people and, at just the beginning, his own father (even if he deserved it);

Ishizu Ishtar is a caring sister who was read to commit suicide if her brother would have be gone forever;

The Seven Millennium Items were done for good purposes, despite the fact that for creating them an entire village and doziens of innocent people were sacrificed, a crime that Atem's father and uncle covered up. Baruka was the only survivor of that village and that's what made him consumed with anger and immense hatred towards Atem and his allies;

Gozaburo Kaiba, after losing his position as the president of KC, commited suicide to teach even more to Seto the "To lose is to die" lesson, as a final step of the emotional control towards him. That traumatized the hell out of Seto and that's why he was that psycotic sociopath at the beginning of the manga (until Atem mind crushed him). Gozaburo is also the reason Kaiba takes winning games so seriously while, on the other hand, Seto has a genuine passion for Duel Monsters and he uses the game as a trauma coping mechanism and way to communicate to people and that's why he's so obsessed with it;

Seto and Mokuba are orphans, but they went to an orphanage because their other relatives abandoned them;

i am rewatching the episodes again, because i was feeling jittery, here are some thoughts + theories noone asked for

papa korn might just be the ultimate bad guy

even if we completely ignore what happens in the book, just based on the power papa korn gives porsche as a chess piece, porsche's parents were a part of theerapanyakul empire. whatever caused their death is the reason why they were out of the 'game'. taking advantage of the fact that porsche doesn't remember, papa korn brought him in to have the upper hand in the game he's playing.

everyone has their own agenda but there are three major games at play here: major family siblings vs minor family siblings, major family vs minor family, and whatever monopoly game papa korn has going on

but imo the first two don't really matter at all in the grand scheme of things (papa korn's game)

as silly as it sounds, vegas drugging porsche or bringing tawan etc probably is just plain old sibling rivalry

when kan asked vegas to keep an eye on porsche, he didn't really mean (porsche) any harm

the minor family might not be the evil the major family is making them out to be. it probably be a prejudice(?) kinn inherited from daddy korn.

kim is the most powerful theerapanyakul brother out of the three. i say this despite kim's miserable attempts at snooping around simply bc he can and he will go against papa korn if/when the time comes, kinn will def struggle/hesitate, which is also the reason why papa korn chose kinn instead of kim. he chose someone he can control.

khun has been team porsche since he hit macau, but it really doesn't have anything to do with macau, maybe bc porsche hit macau and lived says volume to whoever (esp khun & kim) paying attention.

pol has a bigger role or at least i hope so. he is in the background a lot, doing the most random-est things, too random to be just for comic relief purposes.
