A/N: I’ve never read the books, so this is a combination of the Villeneuve films, the Dune Wiki, and a heavy dose of just making shit up lol. I try my best to make Reader as nondescript as possible, but there are mentions of having periods and body hair in later chapters. As a warning up front, this will not have a Happily Ever After ending, but maybe more like Happy For Now?

When you first arrived at Giedi Prime, nothing could have adequately prepared you for the shock the harsh environment brought. 

Approaching the planet, dark, heavy clouds of pollution choked its atmosphere, seen even from your descent into the atmosphere. Any hope you’d had on your mission here began to wither as you saw the goliath manufacturing plants and landfills that scarred the horizon on all sides. Even the advanced Sardakaur technology on this ship couldn’t soften the harsh winds. Could this be the reason why they accepted you— a last-ditch effort to salvage whatever was left of this godforsaken planet…?

When you landed, you rose unsteadily to your feet and grabbed your luggage. Two large bags and one satchel tied at your waist. The rest unloaded off the ship, full of your tools and plants. Your entire life packed away, always ready for the next move. An escort accompanied you off ship, the rest staying inside. Not that you would blame them; if it was not required of you, you would not leave, either.

Comparisons of simon petrikov and fiddleford are so Interesting. Fiddleford made his memory destroying device himself and simon did not. It was something he just happened to come across. Fiddleford was actively trying to erase his memories while Simon was trying and failing desperately to hold onto them.

Yes they both destroyed their memories but the reasons they had were very different!

thinking abt analogies and stuff, fiddleford reminds me a lot more of an addiction and simon (especially in the original adventure time) reminds me a lot more of mental illness or a condition like dementia.

I love how Dilton could just have said, plainly, that the girls are pressuring the boys into competing with each other and it’s affecting their teamwork. But no. He had to make a seemingly non-sequitur literary reference that’s really only tangential to the situation at hand. (I mean, really, what’s the point of living if you’re not going to make semi-relevant literary references at random times?)

Imagine it’s a nice sunny day, and you’re at a baseball game with your friends, and some of them are having some small friend/couple arguments like they often do, but mostly everything seems super normal. And then your bespectacled friend beside you, with absolutely zero prompting, suddenly starts saying something about someone using a sharp knife, with this sort of devious-looking smile on his face. (It’s his “I figured it out” expression.) That is the absolute wildest way to start a conversation. (Gotta hand it to him, it’s one heck of a hook. He’d be great at writing essays.)
