From Betoko's soundcloud: "Although it may seem that the lyrics of Raining Again speak about the London weather, they actually don't. Raining Again relates to some unpleasant event that occurs to you very often… and it's inspired by my best friend been woken up every morning by his neighbors children running just above his bedroom… how do you think it makes him feel? :("

so after Heaven and Hell dropped the other day @zyrdrake and I chatted a bunch about the Kotonoha Project, which eventually led to them introducing me to the concept of making OCs for it, and well
I decided to start with the Honne/Tatamae first, so here are really basic concepts for the main two I came up with. Their personalities are both heavily based on gitaigo, or japanese mimetic words.
First is the carp, named Ukauka. His name comes from the same gitaigo, which means to be inattentive. His human (Takeshi Suzuki), comes off as aloof and uninterested, which makes people think he really doesn’t care. In actuality, he does, and pays attention to everything, but he isn’t sure what to do with all the information he gets. When Ukauka matures, he represents Takeshi’s attentiveness and concern for detail.
The second is the spider, Betoko. Her name comes from ‘betobeto,’ which means to be sticky. Her human (Aoi Hidaka), seems to be a bit of a kleptomaniac and a clingy individual. In reality, she’s just worried every aspect of her life will slip away from her if she doesn’t hold tight enough. When Betoko matures, she represents Aoi’s genuine love and loyalty to everything she holds dear.
I’m not rly happy with the designs atm but they’re quick things because my hand is wearing out. I want Ukauka to actually resemble a dragon of sorts in his mature human form as a reference to the carp going over a waterfall legend. I also want Betoko to resemble some sort of master phantom thief or whatever.
