Quick Review: A Caribbean Heiress in Paris by Adriana Herrera
This was lovely. I really enjoyed reading about Luz Alana and Evan’s romance. It just was the fluffy romance I was looking for. Luz Alana is an heiress to a Rum fortune from the Dominican Republic. She and her 2 best friends and younger sister have come to Paris to expand her Rum into the European markets during the World’s fair. However, not many men are willing to do business with a women. BLOOD
Laffy Taffy by @rckyfrk
My take on the "blood" prompt from UltimateBethylFicList on tumblr's Bethyl Holidays Fest 2023. Daryl takes a spooky practical joke a little too far, and Beth goes just as far in retaliation. It's all in good fun, but neither of these two know how to half-ass anything.

URBAN LEGENDS
La Dame Blanche by @mistressheroine
The church on the hill, Sacre-Coeur is haunted by La Dame Blanche, the spirit of a 'white lady'. Her ghostly image has been seen in the high towers in the depths of the night. Flowing white hair and skin as pale as the white stone used to built the church, she appears to deliver death if any unkindness is paid towards her or the innocent. For those who treat her with kindness, she grants safe passage to enter the church and pray at the altar. Tonight, Daryl Dixon will be taken to La Dame Blanche to pray for himself, Laurent and Isabelle to escape safely from Paris and continue their journey towards The Nest. Coming face to face with La Dame Blanche is about to give him the shock of his life.

Ur not wrong.. I know a lot of peeps, like me, who stopped watching after Coda and haven’t watched since. Sorry Norman. We all were heart broken about Beth. And if she came back now there’s so many of us who would never know because we stopped watching years ago. It is frustrating. I also don’t trust the writers/team. Her death was so insulting. But I would come back for Beth/Bethyl
Hi,
I think many of the viewers who left between seasons 5-7 would come back if they thought there would be a new story with the characters they loved. I think many will tune in for Rick and Michonne.
The problem with the DD spin-off is not the location; the cinematography is beautiful, the set design is amazing, and the actors are doing a good job. The problem is there are almost no stakes or urgency to this story. Since viewers have already been watching for 12 years for Daryl's "happy ending", not making it clear what that happy ending will be and who will a part of it within the first three episodes of the spin-off is just more of the same for viewers who were already turned off by the last few seasons. The spin-off, so far, has been more about Isabelle than Daryl.
That being said, I still have hope even for the first season. IF they were smart, and that is a big IF, they would at least do a post credits scene for episode 6. Even if they don't show Beth alive in Paris, they could show what they have already filmed from Season 5. There is a lot of evidence that they filmed what happened to Beth's body to show at a later time. Just showing that with something like a ten years ago.... flashback would not only increase the stakes for season 2 but would set the Internet a buzz. All of the "tuned out" viewers from seasons past would have plenty of time to hear about it before season two airs. Hopefully, at least some of them would give season 2 a chance.
They really need to develop and enlighten this story in the next few episodes. Just making it back to BFF Carol and Judith is not a gripping story. We have been there and done that for years. At this point, they need a twist like Beth being alive to make this story compelling enough for more people to tune in each week. The show is getting great reviews from critics and those who are watching. However, not enough people care enough about this story to make it the ratings success it should be.
I'll keep posting ratings, but without a promo showing a long-lost character returning, I don't see them getting much better.
Thanks for the question!

The “Daryl as a Mary Magdalene-figure” theory
Part two:The Da Vinci Code, “The Last Supper”, glass pyramids, greenhouses
In my opinion, TPTB’s effort to establish Daryl as a Mary Magdalene figure essentially start in 4x13 “Alone”. This is also the episode where the “The Da Vinci Code” references become really obvious. The episode starts with a musical montage where we follow Bob right before he is found by Daryl and Glenn. We see him wandering around on his own, looking lonely and depressed. At one point he builds some sort of “cage”, so that he can later sit in it and drink his cold medicine (Cold-Z, a “cooler” reference, keep this in mind until later). We then watch him climb on top of a trailer (@wdway reminded me of the fact that this trailer is identical to the wolf trap trailers in 5x16) and we get this shot:
Tumblr media
This seems like a good time to say a few words about “The Da Vinci Code” plot. Our hero, Robert Langdon, is called to the Louvre museum in Paris to assist in the investigation of the murder of the museum curator Jacques Sauniere, whose dead body is posed like The Vitruvian Man, a famous sketch by Leonardo Da Vinci.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back to TWD. Bob’s pose in “Alone” is similar to both Da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man” and Jacques Sauniere’s dead body in “The Da Vinci Code”. This, in my opinion, indicates that TPTB intentionally inserted TDVC imagery into this particular episode of TWD. And there is a good reason for that.
The premise of TDVC is that Mary Magdalene and Jesus were in a relationship, had a child, and that the Merovingian kings of France were descended from the bloodline of Mary Magdalene and Jesus. Throughout history, this secret was protected by a series of prominent characters such as Da Vinci himself, who according to The Da Vinci Code inserted certain clues in the painting “The last supper”. The most central clue suggests that the character officially recognized as the disciple John in reality is Mary Magdalene. With that in mind, one can see how it is easy to compare the painting to the White Trash Brunch/kitchen scene from “Alone”, like here:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In addition to the similarities between “The White Trash Brunch” and “The Last Supper”, comes of course the shot of Daryl taking a good, long moment to admire the plaque of “The Last Supper” in 5x2 “Strangers”.
From a TD perspective this is interesting because it is yet another way of establishing Beth as a Christ figure. From a Bethyl perspective it is interesting because if there is a TDVC template in “Alone”, one has to remember that in TDVC Jesus and Mary Magdalene were actually romantically involved. Mary Magdalene was Jesus’ love interest, and if Daryl is Mary Magdalene to Beth’s Christ, it also suggests that Daryl is Beth’s love interest. Furthermore, in many accounts from early Christianity Mary Magdalene is the first person to see the resurrected Christ, something which calls for interesting speculations in terms of who will be the first person from Team Family to see the “resurrected” Beth.
The TDVC template doesn’t end with the kitchen scene. In TDVC, after Robert Langdon has solved numerous mysteries across all of Europe, in the final pages of the book he follows “The Rose Line” a fictional name given to the Paris meridian line, in search of the “Holy Grail”. He suspects that if he follows “The Rose Line” it will lead him to it, and he eventually realizes that the Holy Grail is the bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. The relevance to TWD, TD and Bethyl is that “The Rose Line” has lead Robert Langdon to the inverted glass pyramid outside the Louvre Museum, and he realizes that Mary Magdalene’s sarcophagus is secretly hidden underneath the smaller pyramid below the inverted glass pyramid.
Tumblr media
In 6x6 “Always Accountable” Daryl is initially taken captive by Dwight and Sherry. When Tina has an accute illness incident and faints, Daryl takes the opportunity to escape. He runs through the woods, before he eventually stops to untie his hands and get his crossbow ready to take down an approaching walker. As the walker falls, we see a Cherokee rose attached to its back, and it is as if the sight of the rose change Daryl’s attitude towards the situation. He notices a cooler containing insulin, and decides to return the medicine to Tina who is obviously in a bad place without it (take note of the cooler, it’s part of a “cooler” theme I will expand on later)
Tumblr media
So in TDVC we read about Robert Langdon following The Rose Line through Paris, eventually realizing that The Holy Grail is the bloodline from Mary Magdalene and Jesus, and that the sarcophagus of Mary Magdalene is secretly hidden under the smaller pyramid below the inverted glass pyramid by the Louvre Museum.
In TWD, there aren’t any inverted glass pyramids, but we do have a recurring theme of greenhouses (glasshouses) with holes through the roof.
Think back to the greenhouse with the hole through the roof in 4x4 “Indifference”, when Rick and Carol come across Sam and Ana. They aren’t really the surviving kind, but before she dies Ana makes sure to emphasize that there’s a greenhouse there with a hole through the roof, so that the water can come in and the fruit can grow. It seemed like an incredibly random storyline at the time, but nothing is random in TWD.
Tumblr media
Also think back to the greenhouse “tomb” in 6x6 “Always Accountable”. Think about how there’s a Cherokee Rose that leads Daryl to turn around and return the insulin to Tina, Sherry and Dwight.
Tumblr media
Think back to the greenhouse with the hole through the roof on 4x4 “Indifference” and the greenhouse “tomb” in 6x6 “Always Accountable”. Think about how there’s a Cherokee Rose that leads Daryl to turn around and return the insulin to Tina, Sherry and Dwight. Think about how the Rose Line through Paris eventually led Robert Langdon to Mary Magdalene’s sarcophagus underneath the inverted glass pyramid outside the Louvre. Think about how the holy grail turned out to be the bloodline from Mary Magdalene and Jesus. Think about how the Cherokee Rose, that represents hope of finding lost loved ones, led Daryl to return the insulin to Tina, so that she was able to properly control her blood sugar, “wake up” from her almost unconscious state. The Cherokee rose eventually led him to ...not a glass pyramid but a glass house/greenhouse with a hole through the roof. There are some clear parallels between TDVC and TWD here.
Tumblr media
In TDVC, Mary Magdalene’s sarcophagus was revealed to be hidden under the inverted glass pyramid in front of the Louvre museum. A pyramid is a tomb. We haven’t seen glass pyramids in TWD, but we have seen glass houses/greenhouses. We’ve seen “glass-sarcophaguses”. We haven’t seen Mary Magdalene’s sarcophagus under a pyramid below an inverted glass pyramid (tomb), but we’ve seen Daryl in a coffin in a funeral home. And we’ve seen Beth and Daryl share the trunk of a car, universally accepted by TDers everywhere as a foreshadow of something that happened off screen during those missing 17 days, something which ended with Beth for some reason being “gone”, something that no one talks about, something that was “hinted to” by having Maggie find the Beth-walker in the trunk of a car in 5x10 “Them”. And we’ve of course also seen the car with the white cross drive away with Beth, leaving a panicked and heartbroken Daryl to chase after it all night.
To be continued in part three

Thank you for sharing this!! Of course I am here, and I have Things to Add™ 😂
They are clearly setting up *other shippers* for the future here, which is to say that season 2 is not a set up for Carol and Daryl to have a romance that will progress. It's about Carol and Daryl and their long lasting, very epic friendship, them coming to terms with years of trauma together after a long and fraught separation, the terms of which we don't fully understand yet. All the set up for this can be found in "Consumed," "Find Me," and "Diverged" as well as "Indifference" and "The Grove" (others, too, but these are the main ones imho).
Speculation on what Emily was doing in France for some undisclosed period of time still stands here. She never advertised her con appearances on Insta OR Twitter, which is super unusual for her. She was also clearly there alone, not having posted a single picture of herself with her boyfriend or any friends. In fact, she never once told her followers why she was in Europe. Vacation? Work? She also kept most of her posts in stories, which are temporary. We don't know. Her presence at the cons was discovered by Bethyl fans organically who saw her on the schedule and reported it here, on tumblr.
We also don't know when she arrived in Europe, or when she left. We do know that she has been, up until this past week or so, very quiet on Instagram for the past several months, while simultaneously lamenting on twitter about being busy, going crazy, etc., and some of those tweets have since been deleted. Emily is not typically shy about self-promoting, so it's unusual for her to not even have mentioned to her fans she would be at the Euro-cons. It's also unusual for her to seemingly be extremely busy and yet to post nothing about what she's busy doing, not even a hint 🤔
One thing she did post was a reply to a comment asking her if she has any new acting projects on the horizon, with a #TWDfamily tag, to which Emily replied, "I hope!"
Tumblr media
It's also interesting to me that Emily only just recently started posting about being in LA again, and promoting her merchandise again, as in, over the past week or so. She was very quiet for much of the first part of this year and did not post much from LA at all. On May 27th, she tweeted about being "free" and "happy" two weeks after she posted that "the dream is still alive."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Free from what, I wonder? Is she done with whatever she was doing for literal months, including a mysterious trip to Paris, to do a con for a show she hasn't starred in for almost a decade?
Norman returned to Paris in late April for a motorcycle conference, a few weeks after Emily posted about being there. There's zero evidence that she overlapped with Norman, but the coincidence is a little glaring, given the other contextual clues here. Norman has also been vague on his whereabouts lately, though not as much as Emily. He has done a bunch of work in Japan, promoting Death Stranding 2, and he posted about it quite a lot.
The thing is, it's possible that, if Emily WAS filming in France, it might not be with Norman. If season 3 is setting us up to focus on *other* characters, we could speculate a parallel formatting, which is a discovery and turning the pages of yet another important "book" in Daryl's life, one of which has barely been cracked since 5.10, ie: "The Book of Beth." This could include flashbacks to Beth's story over the past ten years, and what happened to her. None of this would require Norman to be there.
Even if Beth *never* comes back (I believe she will, I'm just saying), we need the Book of Beth to truly understand Daryl and his heart. Much of the GA is obsessed with Daryl's reunion with Rick; however, the two of them have been on divergent paths since season 5. While a reunion would be great, it is possible it won't happen for many years. In a recent interview, which I can't source because I don't remember where it is (lol), Daryl mentioned that perhaps they would reunite as "old men." Further, Daryl's search for Rick in season 9-10 isn't literal. It's an extended and metaphorical search for all of those he's lost over the years, one of which has never been buried, never been found, the book never closed as we know it, and that's Beth.
People will continue to make the same one-dimensional arguments as to why Beth is dead, etc. But anyone who actually pays attention to Daryl's characterization knows that none of this is about Rick, or even Carol. Daryl's characterization changed irrevocably after "Coda," and none of his ensuing unhappiness has ever been solved, or answered. No catharsis has been reached yet for Daryl in terms of what happened to Beth and what it meant to him, or even fully what happened in the days/weeks after they left Grady. He's just hanging there, unfinished.
That was a really long way of saying, Beth is near 💫
Soo, this article just popped up! They mention S2 is also going to be 6 episodes, which I'm kinda sad about 🫠
And I found something kind of suspicious...
"The series has also been given an early renewal for Season 3, so there will be more to come by the end of The Book of Carol. Of course, it's important to remember that nobody is ever truly safe in the world of The Walking Dead, so Daryl and Carol are not guaranteed to return for Season 3, as another slight title change could easily shift the focus onto other characters."
We all know neither Daryl or Carol are going to die like come on! 😂 So why would the title shift focus onto other characters?! 🤔Literally can't think of anyone else, except for... ☝🏻
No idea if this is one of those websites that posts on behalf of AMC, but still...
