My favorite school will always be Storm because it's my aesthetic and I vibe with it more than anything else but from a narrative standpoint Death is my absolute favorite. Like almost all the interesting Wizard101 NPCS and the two major arc villains we've had all come from there, and everyone sans Penny has some sort of trauma associated with their school of choice due to the very magic they're practicing, or the individual that practices it. There's so much going on in that area where everyone inside it and outside is affected, even the world around them.

Even death itself is an interesting topic irl, and also the fact that Death is feared even in the wizard world opens so much content for multiple stories RIGHT THERE, and then you have internal problems such as Ambrose himself seeming to keep his biased opinions close to him and keeping necromancers at an arm's length, and that perspective then bounces off on other people (Morganthe, which starts her villain arc; Duncan, who was persuaded to switch schools even BEFORE he became a villain; Dworgyn and Mortis, who are left behind). It's just story after story after story. All the interesting characters and their stories are right where Death is and if Storm wasn't my absolute favorite it would be Death. Necromancers seriously rock and they're so cool in every single way

So like, my favorite type of drama in series is usually familial drama, most often ones between parents and their children. And also usually, those dramas that I love are specifically between father and son

And now I’m wondering, what are parent-child dramas/dynamics that involve a female character usually like? As in, mother-son, father-daughter, or even mother-daughter? And additionally, are they as interesting as father-son dynamics? Because I feel like I don’t see nearly enough of them, or at least, they never give me that same amount of intrigue or they just aren’t as focused on

By which I mean specifically in my context, would they be interesting in an action based series? I have a particular taste, namely that I like my series (mostly this applies to shows, I’m a bit more flexible with games) to be more action focused, or at least have some fantastical elements to it, or else I don’t care. I’m not interested in soap opera kind of drama, I want something that would fit in an action based show

what makes someone fundamentally a good or bad person? and what's the point of making that distinction? not being a hater, i don't think dean is a bad person, i just really don't get it. he's just a person with the capability for good and bad just like everyone else

i agree with you but i think the distinction IS important when you're dealing with fans who refuse to see that there's a difference between doing something from a place of good intentions VS believing they are willfully acting malicious and "abusive" because they secretly wanna control everyone and everything. i think dean is a generally good person who tries his best but like any other person is bound to get things wrong sometimes, make mistakes, act imperfectly. i think we all have the capacity to do both good and bad but like, it's not a tipping scale where X amount of wrong-doings equals You Are Now A Bad Person (often Regardless Of What Your Intentions Were) which is where a lot of "deancr*t" fans come from, and in this case i do think the intentions of a character are important when we're analyzing characters motivations and actions and why they may have made a certain choice.

also soo many fans will crucify dean for something that other characters have done too!! and they clearly don't view that other character as a Bad Person and they're able to give nuance and understanding for why that character did that thing and why it still doesn't make them bad, yet they don't offer the same grace to dean?? it's exhausting so yes, i will make posts saying "dean is fundamentally good to his core" to remind people that doing a bad thing or making a poor choice or acting imperfectly in response to trauma / stress / fear does not automatically make you a horrible irredeemable "abusive" person.

I’m breaking my one consistent character trait to show you I care!”

So not only would Jamil’s be played differently, he’s getting way fancier stuff. Jamil asks for a lemonade? He’s getting something that’s just smothered in toppings with fancy straws. Azul is pushing the limits. He knows where the line between “affectionate overdoing to show I’m putting personal effort into your stuff” and “obnoxious enough that you can not eat it and still be socially accepted it” and he is straddling that line like a tightrope. Everything is excessive but not enough for the rest of the club to give him a pass into not eating it.

I know I've made like.. this exact post like four other times but it's gunna keep coming back up until I Figure It Out so.. I have been on and off thinking about the actually solid Idea I had for remaking FaHI as an Original text (along side or after FaHI Proper is written) And I think where I've ended up with it is pretty good! It captures a lot of the same themes and the bones of the thing and I like it! And Yet........ I don't think it is possible to 1 to 1 translate FaHI, it will always Loose Things, very very important things that will always make it a Completely Different Story. The same heart around the same ideas, in the broadest sense, but as soon as you take it out of exactly Where and What It Is it becomes something completely different.. Like you can't hit Any of the same story beats in the same way.. The structure of the environment is different so the way everyone interacts changes and thus shifts every important interpersonal moment.. the situation with the mold and the magic changes and changes the characters themselves in inherent ways that change how they interact with the world and each other but I have to change these things else it will be Very Obvious What This Was.. not a revolutionary concept by any means but I'm not entirely sure what to do with it.... FaHI; the fanwork is a story I Very much love and want to share as the fanwork that it is but there's a lot about FaHI that I love and Wish dearly I could share in a professional or personal context and I simply can't as much because of it's limitations as a fanwork... and I want to split the difference but ooo it always feels like I'm loosing so much.. this is something i have struggled to explain to terfs - they are not doing the work of feminism, but rather the patriarchy. by asserting that women and men must be (on some secret level) oppositional and in conflict, they also assume that being a woman is akin to being another species. but bigotry does not stem from observational truths or clarity - that is what makes it bigotry. there was nothing in my childhood that made me fundamentally different from my brother. we are treated differently nonetheless. to assert there is some biological drive that enforces my gender role is to assert that women have a gendered role. men do not see women as equal to them not because of biological reality - but instead because the core tenant of the patriarchy is that women aren't full, realized people.

we are told from a very young age to excuse misbehavior as a single man's choice - not all men. it is not all men, just that one guy. all women are gold-digging bitches who belong in the kitchen - but if a man is mean, bigoted, or violent to you, it's just that particular guy, and that means nothing about men-as-a-whole. it is only one guy who got mad when you gently rejected him. it is only one guy who warns her this trophy is heavy, are you sure you can hold it? it is only one guy who smashes her face into the cake. it is only one guy talking into a mic about hating our bodily autonomy.
